What I really liked about Dumont is that when you walk inside it smells so fresh and clean. The staff is friendly and is always ready to help you with everything. When I go to visit my mom, she always looks so clean and happy. I feel comfortable that she is there in a safe and beautiful facility. I give this facility a 5 Star in every level. Thank you to the Dumont Staff for taking amazing care of mom!
Very nice professional quiet facility the only thing I wish they had was extended hours for visitors or 24-hour visitation because of my work schedule. My mother likes the food and her Rehabilitation is going well. I do recommend that anybody with loved ones in this facility or any facility to visit them regularly even if its only for 10 minutes it means a lot to your loved ones. I would recommend this facility parking is easy on site and they have a public bus that stops right in front of the facility very convenient
Dumont Center is the place to be if you want your loved ones being taken care of. The staff is very attentive of the patient’s needs. They make time in communicating with the patient’s family during visits. The social worker is also very helpful and gracious. Same with the Director of Recreation, whose very accomodating and efficient when it comes to visits and other matters.
Moving mom to a long-term facility was one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make. Selecting Dumont was not only the correct choice, but clearly turned out to be an excellent one. The entire team, from the administrators to the medical/nursing staff to the rehab department, all provide warm and professional care in addition to personalized attention. The overall feeling throughout the facility is that every member of the staff enjoys working at Dumont and that they genuinely care about each and every resident. It can best be described as being a truly positive place. The facility, well-maintained inside and out, is bright, cheerful and spotless. Most importantly, we are truly grateful for their care.
The Dumont has an inviting atmosphere about it. The staff are welcoming and always willing to assist visitors, and especially the residents. There are no hassels, even in this pandamic time. The administrators actually greet you warmly when you encounter them in the hallways. And they dont even know you. It gives me a good feeling everytime ive visited. Keep up great customer care you provide.
PEOPLE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY -- My brother was a patient at Dumont Center. He was scheduled for a defibrillator implantation procedure at Montefiore Hospital. The ENTIRE staff at Dumont was very aware that this was an overnight procedure at the hospital. When the social worker from Montefiore Hospital called to transport my brother back to the rehab facility, she was advised that they had no bed for him. ARE YOU SERIOUS? All his belongings were left in his room, he did not receive a discharge from his doctor at the facility, and they gave away his bed knowing he is scheduled to return. I have e-mails from the nurse manager of Dumont, Lilibeth, confirming that they were all aware that this was an overnight stay. This facility has basically left my brother homeless. I spoke to Sandy, Administrator, who advised that I need to contact the business office, Morris and Dena. I have since received a phone call from Dena who advised that she only does Medicaid and has no idea what happened, but there are no beds available, and that she has to get in touch with her supervisor, Aaron Wolf, who’s out of the office due to Jewish holiday. AS YOU CAN SEE THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE. THEY ALL PLAY DUMB AND THEY ALL COVER UP FOR EACH OTHER.
Dumont has the most professional, caring, loving staff a family can ask for.The warm feelings the staff has for each patient goes above and beyond our expectations. As a child of a parent in the facility I am blown away at their compassion. The cleanliness is as well perfect!
I wanted to give a shout out to the staff at Dumont. Especially Paulette Lewis and Miss Eileen! All the years my grandmother was there until her passing recently she was well taken care of. Even the maintenance men knew miss Ramona. Paulette is such a caring social worker. She helped me with my grandmothers transition and even called me the next day to check up on me. She knew how hard this was for me and still manage to take a moment out her day. You will forever have my respect and appreciation.
It’s a beautiful facility, well-maintained from what we were able to see. My grandfather seems to be happy there, they offer a lot of things for the residents to do and engage in. The only complaint I have is that I have MS and a handicap parking permit. The parking is very difficult down there and if you don’t have a spot you could have to walk for a few blocks. Unfortunately, people that work there took up the handicap spots and did not have tags. So that made my getting to and from the facility rather difficult. Other than that, it’s a lovely place.
I first visited Dumont 3 yrs ago when my then 86 yr old mom was first admitted for short term rehab & found the facilities, staff & service all excellent. My mom now is back & again I find lt even better. No place may be perfect & our senior loved ones might not prefer to being at their own homes like before, but this senior rates as the best option for our family.
Having to make to most difficult decision on where to have my dad transferred for rehabilitation. Starting with reaching out by email and getting a response back immediately on a weekend. Sandy from admission was loving and understanding and the transition was easy and smooth. The nursing team from the respiratory floor are very nice and informative every time I call. The in person visit was perfectly organized due to COVID restrictions. I highly recommend Dumount 5 stars is not enough for them.
Our experience with the Dumont Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation of New Rochelle has been absolutely wonderful despite the COVID restrictions. My brother and I visited practically everyday and my mom couldn’t be happier with the care and attention given to her by all the staff both physically through her therapies, daily personal care and to her emotional well-being. A clear testament that the center is dedicated to employing caring people who deliver a service of their calling. She even liked the food and that from an Italian grandma says a lot!!! Hope you’re never in need but if are DUMONT is “The Place”.
Had my first visit with my brother today. The visit went well. I want to thank everyone for their part in caring for him. He looks great and he seemed to be very happy and content. Knowing how difficult this is for everyone, this gave me the opportunity to see him and speak directly. I love the virtual calls, but there’s nothing like being there. Can’t wait to hug and kiss him hello, in time. For now, I think this is an opportunity to visit safely and get to see your loved ones. Thanks again to everyone At Dumont.
Amazing place. Staff is well organized and the leadership is well run. Since Covid this place is full of compassion and grace. They even have once a week covid meetings with families over the phone. The employees and staff are great to. Top notch recreation dept. And physical therapy. My dad has been their since 2013. Your family ones will be in good hands. I have other family member in different places and they arent run lik this.Thank you Dumont family.
(PART TWO OF TWO PART REVIEW)On Saturday, I received a phone call stating my uncle had fallen, but was ok. After speaking with him on the phone after his fall, he told me he went to sit in the wheelchair, and it was not locked so he fell down. On Monday morning, I knew my uncle was not ok. I furiously called and spoke to the same nurse, having the same conversation and wanting to speak to a doctor. She told me no doctor was there and there was no doctor there the entire weekend. I hurriedly went to Dumont and informed the guy at the front desk that I wanted to speak to someone to transfer my uncle to WPH. With a negative undertone (as if I were doing something wrong for wanting my uncle to have proper medical attention) he told me to wait outside, and someone will come speak with me. Twenty minutes go by and the nursing supervisor came up and I let her know I wanted my uncle out of there. When EMS wheeled him out, it broke my heart to see my uncle in that condition. I asked how he was, and she nodded her head and said he’s stable. My uncle was brought to WPH and was immediately put on a bipap machine to push air into his lungs. He is experiencing an extreme flare up of Congestive Heart Failure and still pneumonia. What I do not understand is how no one was able to notice this and discern that he clearly needed medical attention that they obviously were not able to provide for him. At times, the staff at Dumont was very nice but for the most part they lack compassion and fail to understand how it can be very stressful for family members at this time while they are still enforcing such strict visitation rights. And they obviously do not have the right judgment when it comes to making a medical decision. I’m glad my uncle is getting the medical attention he needs, and I hope he will be ok.
(PART ONE OF A TWO PART REVIEW) On 4/30/21 my uncle was transferred from White Plains Hospital to Dumont Center after being hospitalized for a week. He was being treated for pneumonia and a flare up of Congestive heart failure and buildup of fluid in the lungs. WPH suggested rehab for him to be monitored while still on oxygen and to help him regain his strength and mobility. Since my uncle does not speak English well, while he was in WPH I received a phone call from the doctor every single day to update me on his treatment and prognosis. My uncle arrived at Dumont on a Friday. Due to their continued strict visitation policies due to covid, no family members were allowed when he was admitted. On Monday, I did receive a call from the Social Worker, Brooke, just to touch base. Since they are still enforcing very strict visitation rules, visits are very limited, and it takes about 5 days to get an appointment scheduled. After 10 days of him being in Dumont, I still had not received a phone call from any Doctor, Nurse or PT to give me an update on my uncle. On the 11th day, I noticed a change in my uncle’s breathing (while on a phone call with him). I called Brooke, the social worker, and asked her why I had not received a call from a doctor yet regarding my uncle’s care and asked if a medical professional can call me to give me an update. Her response was not very compassionate- as if I were asking for too much to speak with a medical professional regarding my uncle. A nurse called me and I informed her that I did not like the sound of my uncle’s breathing. She said she would let the doctor know and they would do a chest X-ray and labs. The next morning (5/11/21) I received an email stating that he had pneumonia again. On Friday (5/14/21) I noticed my uncle’s breathing (during a phone call) was taking a turn for the worse. I called the nurse’s station and she assured me his vitals were fine. I was very upset and frustrated while speaking with her because I knew my uncle was not ok. She in turn was very frustrated with me and kept asking me “well what do you want me to do.” All I kept asking her was to speak with a doctor who can examine him and give me some guidance as to what to do. I was not there and would not be allowed in, but I was not understanding how I could hear my uncle’s labored breathing over the phone, but they were not able to make this observation in person. Again, she kept saying “what do you want me to do, send him to the hospital?” And again, I let her know that I wanted to speak with a doctor who can give me some guidance and if that’s what we needed to do, yes. She told me she would have a doctor call me. I did not receive a phone call from any doctor. (CONTINUED... )
The most amazing staff.........Zhandra & Danielle from recreation are the best. They treat my mom with compassion, respect and show her the love I’m not personally able to give her right now due to Covid-19........Thanks so much to the entire staff for all you do....We really appreciate it !Thank You❤️ The Rodriguez Family
I have never been to a rehab center prior and I’m glad that I came to Dumont, as this is the best rehab center. They took extremely good care of me and made sure all my needs were met. I met some great people, management, therapist, and nursing staff during my stay. I would highly recommend Dumont Center for anyone who needs rehab and/or nursing care services. They are top notch and definitely the best in the country!! Thank you to all the staff at Dumont Center!
If you need amazing care Dumont Center is the place to be at. I Carmen Quinones am living proof of their amazing care. On March 28, 2017 I came into Dumont Center very ill. Due to the amazing care that I have received at Dumont I am now back at home in my community with my family. At Dumont Center you will be treated with dignity, self respect, compassion, and words of encouragement. I personally recommend Dumont Center to anyone looking for amazing care for themselves or for a loved one. I would like to thank all the staff and administration at Dumont Center for the care and kindness you provided me throughout my stay and for getting me back on my feet.Love,Carmen
My dad was recently a patient in Dumont short term recently. The facility is clean and modern and the staff very professional, friendly, helpful and accommodating. The PT and OT were outstanding and miles superior to larger and better known facilities in the area. The smaller size makes the facility homier and the view of the harbor is an added bonus.
Dumont is a wonderful place where its residents are cared for in an amazing way. The environment and staff all treat the residents as if they are family. The staff cares for the residents with the utmost respect and they treat them as if each one is the most important person there. I would highly recommend Dumont for lifelong care.
I am really disappointed that the patients are all subjected to watching / listening to the FOX chanel propaganda all day every day! Why is that? What happened to the discovery chanel, or a regular local news chanel? Who makes these decisions? That being said, I found the facility and staff to be excellent.
My Mom passed in 2014 and they just sent me a bill for her room,Feb 6, 2017. Very poorly run. Most of the nurses are good, but there is a lot of stealing so you have to make sure you keep on top of everything your loved one has and you have to be there every day to make sure your loved one is being taken care of. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone except for short rehab.
For being at a rehabilitation center for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised how friendly, attentitive, and accommodating the staff was here. I am especially thankful to the rehab staff for going above and beyond in helping me speedily and safely return to the community. I am surprised to say that I was able to really enjoy my experience at Dumont Center and felt like this was a fun healing vacation.
My dad was a resident at Dumont Nursing Home in New Rochelle. A lot of his clothing and other items was stolen on a regular basis, the staff are rude and didnt attend to him properly. I literally had to beg one of the CNAs to change his soiled diaper more than one occasion. Then after I begged and pleaded for her to change it, I had to help her clean and change my dad because there wasnt any other CNAs available to assist her with the task. The carpeting smelled like urine. I would NOT recommend Dumont to anyone seeking a skilled nursing home.
Thank you for all you do, to the staff. I known that all faculty and staff do their best in providing adequate care, and morally their heart is into caring for all residents. I hope and pray, for all who work in these facilities, they to remember this could be one of their own family members or themselves. And always do unto others as youd want done to you. God Bless! And thank you for all you do!
I just want to thank the whole staff at dumont for the kindness and compassion that my mother was shown. They helped her every step of the way from whole rehabilitation crew, the CNA’S EVERYONE!! I don’t think we would have gotten my mom home as soon as we did!! Thank you !

2022-06-13My husband came to The Dumont on March 23. After 6 ½ weeks in Columbia Milsteins Cardiac ICU, he needed to go to a vent facility. They are few and far between, so we were lucky to get a bed at all.I cannot say enough good things about The Dumont. The facility is bright, modern and spotless (with killer views of the marina and Glen Island), but it is the staff that really makes this place what it is. From the maintenance staff to the nurses to the therapists…they are all lovely, caring, cheerful and hard-working folks. You can tell when people love their job, and when they are just going through the motions. The way the staff treats its patients, the families, and each other, speaks volumes about The Dumont and how it’s run.My husband has a long road ahead. But, if we must travel it, I’m glad we are doing it at The Dumont.

2022-01-19Once again an absolutely wonderful staff that takes extremely loving care of our Mother and other residents. We have dealt with other nursing homes in the past and Dumont is without any doubt the best facility around. Anyone wanting more information can always contact me for additional insight. Joe

2022-06-11Pretty decent place. Well kept and clean. Staff is very kind and even in the midst of an employment shortage, they manage to take care of all their patients. I salute hospital workers. May God bless them and this facility. Only issue is parking. Extremely limited on the spot parking and Pelham Rd can be a bit difficult.

2022-03-09My Mom was admitted into Dumont on 2/9/22. No one from the facility contacted me with any treatment plan or update on her care. I received a call in February from her nurse asking if My Mom needed a flu vaccine or numacocal pneumonia shot. I informed her that I would have to contact her assisted living if these were needed and get back to her. I called the nurse back and left 3 messages on her voicemail, the extension she provided asking her to call me so we could discuss what was needed. No one returned my call. Upon visiting my Mom I was told her case worker was never available and her nurse was always too busy. I spoke with George and informed him that Mom needed the flu shot and her Covid booster. George did not even know what a booster was. He informed me he was a nurse but did not know any booster was available. He wrote the information on a sticky note. I asked him to have someone contact me. Nothing ever transpired. I left numerous messages for her case worker requesting a meeting an an update with no call. I spoke was able to reach her once and tried to get information regarding her treatment plan and progress. She informed me I had to contact PT and that she would set up a care plan meeting. Today is 3/9/322 and to date know nothing of my Moms plan or care. Today I spoke to her new case worker who assured me she would have people contact me. Her nurse called me stating I requested a 2pm meeting, which is not correct. I informed the nurse I know nothing about my Moms plan or progress. The nurse informed me I had to leave a message for PT. I explained I have left numerous messages with no return call, (including another after speaking to the nurse.) I also explained to the nurse I left her numerous messages regarding Moms vaccines that she inquired about. The nurse stated, she does not have access to her voicemail. Therefore, Mom has not received her flu shot or booster. The nurse cared not at all and gave me no answer when Mom would receive it only saying she was waiting on me. I have called all departments with no response regarding my Moms treatment. I have also left a message for the director. The only department that calls me is finance. This is a horrible facility with no family communication at all. I have no idea what Moms care plan or any other treatment is. I want my Mom transferred to another facility and cant anyone to help me. This is a horrible facility.

2022-02-26I hope you all never have to experience the type of service that was given by this facility.Imagine a family is grieving the loss of a loved one and the only request made of this facility is to locate their love ones’ personal belongings that was left when their patient was urgently taken to the ER and sadly passed away. The employees at this facility showed no compassion, courtesy or regard for the family’s need or loss. After multiple calls, voicemails and follow ups, it’s been over 2wks and no attempt from the facility to locate the belongings. The facility claim that they live by their motto: “We care and it shows”. When they actually DON’T care and it shows.

2022-02-23They are so unprofessional , My father was there and was taken to the ICU where he passed away. His bag with his ID, documents and money cell phone was left behind while he was sent to the hospital. After his passing I have at several occasions in person and over the phone tried to collect his personal belongings. And it is with disgust that i realized the lack of professionalism that I am been treated after they have so call misplaced the item. They will make me wait hours to speak to the social worker or the director of operations just to tell 2 hours later that they wouldnt be able to see me Or I will call to speak to someone and they will tell me to call in an hour , then they will act like they have no clue what i am talking about Not only I lost a love one but now I have to jump through hoops . Its call stealing, I am still waiting for upper management to contact me to make amend but that would be too responsible and admit the lack of decency.
