Planned to stay with my wifes brother but because of martial issues, we had to get a hotel and this was the closest. Reasonably priced for the area. The hotel is definitely dated. Our first room had 3 small holes in the ceiling and the carpet was worn. They normally include breakfast but because of Covid, it has been discontinued. The second room had a vinyl floor. The Wifi was great but there is no cell service in the rooms.Vince at the front desk was great and helpful.
This old fashioned inn has a lot of charm and charachter. The decor is a bit dated but the rates are very reasonable for Long Island making it a good value for those looking for economic accomodations. There is no breakfast. The inn is conveniently located near Long Islands Gold coast. There is a lot to see and explore near by including Teddy Theodores home (Sagamore Hill) snd the Vanderbilt museum just to mention a couple.
This place does not even deserves 3 stars. The room was so gross I considered phoning a friend and driving a long distance to avoid staying there. No mattress protector or cover on the beds. One single sheet. Stained mattress. Holes and scratches on the bed frame, walls, ceiling, light fixtures. Hair on the floor of the bathroom. The intense smell of must, mold, and the dampness and humidity of the room AND the bed were overwhelming and hard to get past. AC did not help and barely worked. Didnt even want my clothes to touch other things in the room let alone sleep in the bed. Also - the front desk service was anti-social and bizarre. Not a single word was exchanged other than my own and no one even relayed that breakfast was not happening the next morning. Do not be fooled by the cute exterior and charming hallway. I would never in my life recommend this place to another person or step near it if I dont have to.
Stayed 1 night. Check in person could not have acted any more bored. Our room was beside the laundry which was noisy. Website said there was breakfast but there was not - cancelled because of Covid. Would have been nice if website had been correct. Room okay. Not expensive so that was a plus.
Fairly clean room, bug free. Bathroom needed attention, toothpaste on sink counter and paper in toilet. Room was dated but nice and quiet. Parking for a pickup is difficult due to front of building parking lot was for compact cars only, trucks had to park around back which is shared with the steak house on the corner. If you got in while dinner was being served, there was no place to park. Trying to leave at that time was also difficult due to people walking in front of you or stopping in the Isles to do who knows what. I worked overnights and wasnt disturbed so I got great sleep. I tried extending for one more night due to the job running over but was informed they were already booked up and recommended another place. The man at the desk is working hard and trying his best due to short staffing at this time so may try again if I ever attempt getting in that area again but might try somewhere a little more East.
Absolutely disgusting, would give zero stars if possible. Extremely unpleasant staff, rooms are old, humid, and gross.. and if you need another review that mentions BEDBUGS, here it is. Bedbugs, and no one can be bothered to care. I would rather pay 3x the price for a clean hotel room because, sometimes, you get what you pay for.
Well all in all was surprised how this place was highly rated yes you have parking but that’s about it and free wifi apparently they can’t do breakfast again. The a/c is very slow I but it down to 60F too cool the room and it took forever so a word of advice there’s 5 buildings that are connected by a walk way so when I checked in the person had a special attitude and didn’t fully understand what he was talking about so no lifts ok. No worries I have no problem with stairs but maybe consider using words that people understand as l didn’t understand that l had to walk to building no 3 then go up the stairs. The bed was ok nothing special breakfast well any excuse not to do anything. Bathroom a little small.
The Inn was great for the price. The room was very clean and housekeeping kept it that way . This is a no frills Inn though I was very happy to discover that I could use an HDMI cable to stream my laptops movie library to the television and the WiFi supported streaming to my laptop so lack of premium cable was no issue . There is an excellent steak house right next door. I would return . The breakfast was unavailable but that’s to be expected nowadays. I would definitely return
Look…we all know why we are looking at this hotel, it’s the cheapest option around. Yes it is probably exactly what you expect, but I can guarantee there is at least clean beds and working bathrooms. Plus you’ll meet every single woman east of the Norwich’s dream, the manager Vince. What the hotel lacks in modern decor, it’s makes up for with the quick wit and hilarious honesty Vince brings to the table. Need some entertainment? Head on over to the lobby and take a seat and enjoy the show as Vince turns away guests, hunts down the cleaning ladies to find out which rooms are available, and promises you that next time you’ll get to stay upstairs if they aren’t so busy. In all seriousness, the place is great for the price. Come for the price, stay for the Vince.
Front desk, lobby and the exterior of this place are all nice! Very clean and recently renovated. The rooms are another story. I have stayed here before about a year ago, in another wing of the hotel and it was about two stars better than where I am now. To start..... my whole floor common hallway smelled like cigarettes. The room has stains on most of the furniture, there were another persons hairs on the sink in the bathroom, the wall paper was stapled to the wall in some spots..... furniture old and chipped. The price for the room is great if you don’t mind everything I just mentioned... . My room was in wing four on the second floor. Oh and when ever anyone runs the water in their room it sounds like you’re in a water park!
Positive: The room spacious Negative: Staff at desk..pre occupied .. Gave us room more spacious Checking in early But room seemed old Bathroom not nice Shower chipping Over all Hotel looked old and tired It listed as amenity breakfast But no breakfast served CLERK said re covid e
Very clean rooms! Loved the bathroom the showers look very nice. The breakfast was sub par. Bagels, waffles, cereal, yogurt, granola bars, oatmeal packets, bananas, apples, oranges, coffee and juice. But it was free so I cant really complain. The staff is friendly and it was a quiet stay. No microwaves in the rooms but there is a mini fridge. And they have cable and wifi. Beds were a nice size. The room smelled good when we first came in also. Overall is was a good stay for us. We would stay here again.
I was pleasantly surprised after reading other reviews. Yes, my room had a musty/damp feeling and the decor is tired. They have redone the hallways, which are very lovely, and they need to continue that in the rooms. But it was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced - totally fine for my one night stay to visit my son in Oyster Bay. There arent many options and I was grateful to have this one. I will be back.
Convenient to relatives houses. Decent prices. Older establishment thats a little dated with dehumidifiers in the hallway when I was there. Could use some remodeling. Nice breakfast bar in the morning. Friendly staff that were helpful. Plenty of parking.Although its a little dated it is a nice place, clean and friendly. It is popular and was pretty full when we were there. Id definitely stay there again.
It desk clerk or manager is very rude I think his name was Danny after telling me that I couldnt book a room in this hotel for more than two days..and telling at me because hotels. Com allowed the booking. He ask if I was homeless cause who stays 4 days in a hotel. I believe it was cause we are black...rooms are large but whole place needs a makeover. The history in the hotel is the only thing that even made it worth it I got to send my grandma and grandpa cool pictures of burt..I know that I will never book any stays here in the future..wish I would have known before booking.
Lovely room for the price. Dated decor inside the room but good temp control and good shower pressure. Hard to notice from the street. Side entrance closes after a certain time so it can be confusing. The lobby was updated looks great but getting to rooms is like a maze.
This is the place to go if you want to have a bed bugs experience.First day, they put us in a hallway which was doing painting and sanding, we can’t even close the door after they started doing sanding in the morning, extremely dusty, and my son is allergic to dust. Then they changed our rooms to the second floor, my mom was bitten by bed bugs, over 23 redness, I only gonna put a picture of her arms here to avoid causing visual panic.Well, great hotel for bed bug and dust experience. And the manager didn’t refund us.I am going to call my credit card company right away.
Has definitely seen better days. Beautiful outside, bathroom is really nice, great shower. Carpet in the room is stained, upholstery on the chairs is ripped and stained. And theres a bit of a musty smell. This is the first time Ive stayed here in years, and I remember it being much better kept.
Honestly, I liked it. And I am very picky. The place is a piece of history. You walk down a wide corridor lined up with old photos. It didnt even feel like hotel at all. I did not see a single person. Well, I came late too. But the whole place felt more like a mansion from 30s, Tudor style. I would come again. Nice feeling!
I have never felt unsafe here but What exactly are all cameras protecting? There must be 50 cameras here at every turn and doorway yet they want no responsibility for any loss or damage.Anyway, if you can get a room here for less than $80 per night its safe, reasonably clean. The water pressure is great for showering but why the heck do they still have 50 year old toilets that waste 5 gallons of H2O with every flush!?!? Havent those toilets been banned for years? Take the good with the bad and sleep well.
First off I really loved the fact that FREE wifi and FREE continental breakfast was provided with the room! The patio is beautiful! Theres also a fitness room with plenty of equipment. The front desk clerks and the housemaids were really helpful and efficient with all their work. The manager/owner of the place is a wonderful guy and doing a great job with restoring the place. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely come back and stay here again. 5 stars!!
Great place. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Lobby and hallways recently renovated. Room just got new floors and paint. Not brand new but all in good condition. Cleaning service impeccable. Would stay here over a budget chain any day. On par or better than most non-luxury brands.
I have been staying at the East Norwich Inn for the last 4 years and have had great experiences always.I love the ambience and character of this establishment. The manager, Danny, has always gone the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and the staff has always been polite and hard working.Every year we come back, I see more and more completed room and facility improvements.I will continue to stay here when I return to NY.
The style is a bit dated, but recent renovations are very promising and create a nice environment. For the price this is an amazing place to stay. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice but I only had limited interactions. In short this hotel is only gunna get better with recent renovations and I would choose this location over higher ranked hotels in the area.
The Hotel is nice, and i think for the most part is kept clean. The customer service however is terrible. Upon arriving to the hotel the night of October 10th, 11:30pm, i noticed i had no make and i forgot them at home. it was also too late for me to go buy one, because that town is very dead, and not too many stores around to shop. I asked the man that was at the front desk, if he can give me 1 mask from the boxes he had behind him, and his answer was no. Literarily, no. I was so shocked that he allowed me to checkin, and be around other customers without a mask, and they have a sign on the front door that says you must wear a mask. He also looked annoyed because he was watching a tv show either on laptop or phone, which he had to take a break from when i walked in. He is one of the rudest people i have ever met in my life. Ofcourse the hotel management can review camera feeds to confirm. i can understand 5 month ago, when masks were like gold, you couldnt get them, and were expensive. but masks now so cheap, and most places have boxes of them specially for people who dont have any. this front desk man, had 2 boxes behind him, and refused to give me a mask, and said no, and looked at me with disgust. The people behind me on the line, that were waiting, ended up meeting me on the stair case, and also claimed he was terribly rude. NEVER VISITING THAT HOTEL AGAIN. advice to others, bring what you need with you. this please wont give you anything......
They treat customers terribly. I had a hotel reservation which they canceled on me 30 minutes before check-in time due to them not wanting to accept my service dog. The way I was spoken to was extremely disrespectful and in violation of the ADA(Americans with Disabilities Act).
I would NEVER, recommend anyone to ever stay here! The desk staff (Vinny) was super professional and nice, however the manager (Danny) and owner as he states he was, was the MOST unprofessional, disrespectful, condescending, and disingenuous person I have ever come across. The abhorrent way my family was treated is just DISGUSTING! I was visiting due to a impending surgery the following morning for one of my children, and the manager comes banging on my door to ask for a cash payment when a credit card was already on file and charged . Then proceeded to threaten to call the cops if he didnt get a cash payment. When he was told that a credit card was already charged and on file, he didnt even show the courtesy to apologize for waking my child up, disturbing a conference call I was on, and causing such a horrible uncomfortable and embarrassing scene. This is a DESPICABLE way to treat anyone! If this establishment is so desperate for cash, then there is a more deeper and serious issue going on! In addition, I was given a room at the end of the hall which was very run down. It was NOT a pleasant experience and I would HIGHLY recommend NOT to stay here, and do yourself a favor and stay SOMEWHERE else! I travel as a professional and I was APPALLED at the treatment I received!
Actually, a really nice hotel. I expected something smelly and outdated for the price, but it is newly renovated, with a lot of nice touches like usb plugs in outlets, new toilets, fluffy towels. My room had a refrigerator, an iron and a hairdryer, plus soap, shampoo and other stuff. Very nice - would stay here again!
The front desk believes all Asians are relatives so they let another Asian guy checked in to the hotel without confirm all details, have to walk around and discuss these issues to get my room back -in an hour.Anyways, the room have very heavy mold smell, you pay what you get.Fortunately I booked this room for my friend so I dont have to suffer.
My first thought was its very old and non updatesThe room was very comfortable and cool the bed was very good and hadalot of pillows and good ones at thatThe bathroom was very small and water pressure sucked needs to be updatedbreakfast was bad however if you come for 1 night its cheap and recommended
Nope. Never again. Such a nice spot in such a nice area for tourists shouldnt be managed by 2 of the biggest dolts that Ive seen at a front desk. The 1st more interested in the Baseball allstar game, the 2nd careless to the fact that our room wasnt cleaned....including a very obvious hospital bracelet with females name, and used toiletries including hairy soap in the shower. I shouldve heeded the previous low reviews.
Very friendly staff and secure (via CCTV) premises. Comfortable large room, a bath with two sinks. Large flat screen TV. Refrigerator/freezer and coffee maker. A continental breakfast is included (coffee, tea, four cereals, waffles, oatmeal, bagals, muffins, toast, juice, etc.). Currently under renovation. Competitive pricing. Plenty of dining nearby.
Picturesque, quiet location in East Norwich (town of Oyster Bay), but easy to reach by car. A landmark hotel with lovely rooms and easy check-in/check-out. Quick drives to major points of interest and local North shore towns in Long Island. Recently renovated with quiet, clean, comfortable rooms. I recommend.
2017 - DecemberIt pains me to give such a terrible review to a place that was once a great place to be. The front desk service was severely lacking. I checked in around 4pm on a Saturday and was met by a gentleman that was not friendly or warming. He could not find my reservation and I had to bring it up on my cell phone for him. I was given a room where the door was open when I arrived. I carefully entered, placed my things in it then used the facilities and left for an appointment. When I arrived back in the evening I noticed the poor condition of the bathroom. Grout was in the tub, there was no grout in the floor tiles and it was not that clean. I asked to switch rooms and I was told to get my things and the key and come back, which I did. After a long wait we were given a new room, which was worse. The bathroom had broken tiles, grout missing from some tiles cracks and paint peeling from the ceiling. It was late at night so finding someplace else was not an option. I was exhausted and had to drive minimally 10 hours the next day so I went to sleep. The next morning I went to take a shower and water was spraying from the shower all the way to the mirror and sink on the other side. By the time my shower was done the bathroom was soaked. I checked out, showed the clerk the photos, left a complaint and asked for a refund. There was no manager on-site After a few hours the front desk clerk called me and said the manager would only give a 20% credit. I find this unacceptable.
It was inexpensive for the area. It is under going renovations but nobody was banging away or even in the way. The rooms are older and poorly decorated but I didnt book the hotel for its decor. The area is GREAT! Especially Oyster Bay. I would come back but I am sure their prices will be higher once renovations are done.
I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay here recently. The place was immaculate, and our room was particularly clean and fresh. It has a nice, cozy, family-oriented feel, especially the Tudor style lobby area with fireplace. The grounds were also well-maintained with plenty of shady trees and nearby restaurants were within walking distance. The staff was quite friendly as well. If visiting the area or, for example, sightseeing at nearby Sagamore Hill, I would highly recommend the inn which, btw, was owned in the past by Burt Bacharach no less.
If you do not pay attention to your credit card bill you WILL BE DOUBLE & TRIPLE CHARGED and small items WILL GO MISSING from your room AT OWNERS EXPENSE (if you consider your iPad small). Id rather pay expensive prices instead of getting robbed for the place behind my back... If I could give half a star I would
The staff is very nice however this hotel has a serious mold problem. You can see it everywhere and the whole place has a funny musty smell. I have had a headache for 2 days. There are not alot of choices as far as hotels go on Norwich so it will have to do. But really this place needs to be get the leaks fixed and rip out all the sheetrock and start over. Mold is really bad for you
Very polite staff, have stayed there multiple occasions for when I need to visit Long Island for a week or two straight, super dirty rooms tho and found bed bugs in one, always find hair in showers too before I use them, very gross and honestly not very cheap for what you get,the staff is great but gut that building and start over
This is a great getaway nestled in a country like setting.....Great breakfeast following the fitness room workout. My room kept very clean, and a great courtyard to relax and chat. SAFE neighborhood with no worries.Hotel is being restored to a first class stayover. I will be here for OysterBay Festival....i suggest a weekend for the familyAnd visit Sagamore Hill too.
Excellent motel with convenient out of town location on Long Island which is convenient for JFK or sightseeing in NYC. Will get even better after renovation work is complete.Great facilities, comfortable bed, great TV/WiFi and a breakfast. Only complaint is no elevator to 2nd floor means hailing baggage up a narrow flight of stairs.

2022-06-14My stay here was unremarkable... the Desk Clerk was cordial and the Rooms were clean with good Refrigerators, though no Microwaves. It is a quick 5-10 minute drive to any amenities, like Convenience Stores or Markets. Reasonably priced for the area, great for the lone business traveler.

2022-03-27Fake reviews! This place is horrible, with out dated rooms. No water in the sink pressure was extremely low. Front desk manager Vince extremely rude, racist. Will never stay here again. Linen on beds are extremely filthy. Bathrooms are filthy. Floors are sticky. Rugs is sticky. Woke up with bite on the neck not sure what it was! Possible bed bug!

2022-07-02I havent even gotten the chance to book my room because the female on the phone was so disrespectful and rude from the jump. You need to teach people if they arent pleased with their job they should leave because with such nasty attitude you will not get any customers.

2021-11-12We recently stayed at this Hotel as we were visiting family in LI. We stayed for 7 days and 6 nights. The service was fantastic. Everyday we came back to hotel the bed was cleaned and made the coffee makers was washed out for us the bathroom was cleaned and had fresh towels the floor vacuumed and trash was taken out. Every single day. Their housekeepers are amazing they did not disturb us they waited till we were up and out. The front desk was kind and the hotel in all was clean and quiet. I recommend this hotel the price was great, staff was great and made our trip overall great. We will definitely be staying in this hotel every time we come up to visit.

2022-01-19Loved my experience staying at East norwich inn, they are very accommodating and they do offer cold breakfast but if you want a good breakfast bite, I highly recommend Messina market it’s in walking distance and they have tons of options available.

2021-10-02Its definitely dated and the hallways to the rooms smell seriously funky. The desk clerks are friendly in a disgruntled, long island kind of way. The rooms are comfortable for the price, if a bit out of style. Overall we have stayed in worse places but I dont know that Id come back without some updates. As far as the breakfast situation, dude who checked us in said the bagel place across the street closed and they had provided their breakfasts. Sounded like some drama between locations. Website should really be updated.

2021-09-04One start doesn’t even begin to explain the horrible experience i had at this hotel. I would give 0 stars if i could. For starters, both front desk workers were incredibly unfriendly and had an attitude. When i booked more days, they told me they didn’t do long stays. That night at 2 am I frantically woke up itching and scratching from bed bug bites. When i told the front desk, he was mildly helpful and all he did to ease the stress was gave me garbage bags. When i switched rooms, i had no assistance to move all of my belongings to the second floor with no elevator. When i told the front desk i wanted to check out the early, he rudely told me i had to speak to the manager of the website i booked the reservation in order to do so. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted with both the costumer service and quality of room. Mind you I was only originally supposed to stay one night and i wanted to stay two more nights. In what world is that considered “a long stay”.I had to haggle with the manager to get my two nights comped.

2022-04-21Great place to stay. Has that old world charm to it. Location is great. Place is VERY clean....
