Newcomer here trying dim sum as it is displayed among many menus in the storefront. Decent, but not close to better choices in most major cities. A dim sum cart comes along periodically, but you can ask based upon the menu and will be coming shortly. Interior decor is good as well and staff speaks Cantonese.
Looks like new management....need lot of improvement on managing...food are great...plus that hv name changed to East Asian BristroDinner too fusion.....mixed with Thai , Chinese and Japanese......not crowded...nice service....food are OK....just dont order their Peking duck...it claim 1/2 ... but came out not even a quarter of a duck ... disappointed
I was assaulted by the bartender, then she encouraged a drunk guy who she had served 5 alcoholic drinks (4 empty glasses with a 5th full, on a Saturday at 1:30pm) to assault me and go after me as well. This is irresponsible and unethical on all levels- so I had to document what was happening because they seemed out of control. I called security for my safety and documented the incident since it was quite unbelievable (still shocked as I write this review). When I spoke to the manager, he was very respectful and stayed positive but did nothing about the situation. He told me that the bar isnt a place I would enjoy anyways, that its much better to just sit inside the restaurant instead. She continued to assault me in front of the manager and I was so disappointed that he would not take any action. This initially started because I sat by the bar and asked for lunch. Bartender asked if I want to drink and I said no thank you, just water. Then she proceeded to tell me they dont serve lunch by the bar while others clearly had food (they had alcohol as well). I mentioned that Ive had lunch by the bar before, and she told me I must be delusional because theres no lunch by the bar.
This place is an absolute gem in an unexpected location. I’ve gone here for over a decade at this point and the food just gets better and better. Their Pan Asian cuisine has always been top notch and their relatively recent addition of dim sum on the weekends is superb. Probably one of the best dim sum places in the city and definitely the best place in Staten Island. I come from a very foodie Cantonese family and this is one of our all time favorite spots!
Ordered from here because we usually eat at this place. Was excited. Their sweet and sour chicken was a little peice of chicken inside fried dough with sauce on the side. What? At least provide a description of what its gonna be. No one would expect that considering every other place on this island has chicken with the sauce on it, WITHOUT dough. Made half of us feel sick because we did not want fried. Beef was good tho. Not very flavorful unfortunately, but was soft. Order Chinese from a real Chinese place. Not a place that has multiple different foods.
The food was great!! but i have some little things personally don’t prefer, and dislike. i understand if they were busy, but me and my family had ordered pork shumai as an appetizer and didn’t receive it until all of our main dishes were brought out. keep in mind we had orders about five huge dishes. through out our time there they would say they’re bringing the shumai, and then a few minutes later ask how it was. then we’d tell them that we haven’t gotten it yet, and it would happen again and again, it was all just inconvenient. apart from that, the food was great! the servers were very nice, and i’m filled up for the rest of the day! i’m sorry i hate to write negative reviews, but i personally don’t prefer this kind of service!:(
I had the pleasure to dine-in at this restaurant with my family the day it reopened, and was impressed by the cleanliness of the place, the exceptional customer service from the staff, and quality of the food. The restaurant staff ensured that social distancing was practiced at all times and were all welcoming and happy to serve their customers. I highly recommend this restaurant, as my family and I had a pleasant experience.
My best friend and I have been coming here for years, but that ended last night with what I can only describe as an extremely disappointing dining experience. Although we were seated right away (the place was pretty empty for a Friday night) and our waiter attended to us promptly, the rest of the night was a bust. We asked for the complimentary fried noodles, which we never got, although the table next to us were served theirs without requesting them. My egg rolls were too hot to touch and they didnt serve it with enough duck sauce for dipping. The rainbow chicken (one of my go to entrees) was bland. I didnt finish it and didnt ask for the leftovers to go. But by far my buddy got the worst deal. His steak (which he gets medium rare) was served nearly raw (it was seared on the outside and cold inside). He couldnt even cut through it with a steak knife. When he asked to have it cooked a little longer, the waiter basically told him that it had been prepared as he had requested. He just should have taken the steak back to the kitchen without contradicting the customer. Sorry East Pacific, but you just lost two loyal patrons.
This restaurant is our go to place for family meals on Staten Island. With Japanese, Thai and Chinese food in one huge menu my entire extended family is pleased. We recommend the Panang curry with beef, the shrimp with broccoli and the general tsos chicken. All our old favorites for many years are always good and reliable. the sushi is very good, always fresh. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The service is less than good. The servers are efficient. But they always seem to be in a rush, even if the restaurant is empty. Some of them can be brusque and almost rude. Now that we live within their delivery area we tend to do takeout more often and eat at home.Did I mention they have free delivery?
Always a good choice for a quick bite or a family dinner. Chinese, Thai, Indonesian food plus sushi are available. There is also a lovely menu for appetizers and drinks. Chicken satay, fried dumplings and boneless spareribs were delicious.Service is very attentive and accommodating.
So we arrived a nice family of 5 looking forward to our night out for some sushi and Asian food. We were seated by a lovely girl. The waiter came over and took our order he did not pay attention to the amount of table settings on the table that were missing nor did he ask us if we would like any drinks. We were brought a sorry tiny bowl of fried wontons with one little serving a duck sauce. Finally when our sushi rolls arrived there was not even any soy sauce on the table we had to ask for it while we waited to eat. Finally our entrees arrive and we did not even have enough plates, napkins or utensils which should have been rectified as soon as we were seated. We were given the bill with a repopulated 18% ....not even offered a fortune cookie for my children or even a Thank you after we were forced to pay an 18% gratuity for 2% service. The 2 stars are for the chef..the food was actually very tasty but unfortunately the bad service will keep us away from this place. Back to Oriental plaza we go!!!
Our family has been going here for years and I love the food. Our family favorites include the Lemongrass Porkchops, with coconut-pineapple fried rice and a Fried Red Snapper. The food here is a generally very good and good quality. The service can be a bit cold. The waitresses / waiters arent very enthusiastic or too friendly, but are communicative enough to take orders and serve really, but are accommodating nonetheless.I reccomemed this for families and even dates (just be sure to sit in a far away / quiet booth).
Very disappointed with their customer service from this past Sunday. This is my 3rd visit to East, and I enjoyed my other 2 times, but this past time really set me off. First the positives: the restaurant has a cozy setting and the food quality is usually good. But on Sunday I went with my parents and aunt, and it wasnt even overflowing- but we had to wait 30-40+ minutes for our food after it was initially ordered. When I asked my waiter he gave me an attitude and said, Do you not see how busy it is? The food came and my familys food was good (dad&aunt ordered garlic flounder, my mom the beef & broccoli) - be aware that its pretty much around $15 per dinner dish no matter if its a simple dish. My pad thai came out a little disappointing - drier and stickier than it usually should be - but still edible. The main problem was that I had to leave a bit early, but I had a valid coupon that I left with my family whose native language is not English. When they tried to give the coupon without me there, the waiter said, Coupon is no good, restaurant is too busy, no good on Sunday (When the coupon clearly says valid Sunday-Thurs excluding holidays, and it was not a holiday...). Im really angry they took advantage of my family like that, and for a restaurant that charges that much Im disappointed they did not take the coupon.Edit: I went again with my family recently, and their customer service was superior to the last visit. The food was also enjoyable (Sesame Chicken). I think I need to reconsider my opinion of the restaurant.
For a person who doesnt speak Chinese, and who has been discriminated in a similar setting, this place is pretty awesome. When the owner, Peter, saw me and my partner he immideately notified the staff to greet and serve us food in a polite manner. Michelle and Melody are awesome. They came by more than enough times to ask if we wanted more food and to make sure our tea pot was full. They even made sure the food we received was well done.
The food was delicious, I asked for an off menu item that I get in Chinatown & they did a terrific job, not Hop Kee great but good. The ladiesroom was dirty. I did complain, but the manager pretty much ignored my complaint & quickly changed the subject to the food. So if he was that nonchalant about the cleanliness of the bathroom, I could only imagine what the kitchen is like. Sad! I dont know if Id go back. But the food was really good.
I ordered pork fried rice and sesame chicken, opened the chicken container and to my surprise it was sesame chicken on top of 15 large pieces of broccoli. 2 weeks ago I ordered the same dinner and the chicken container was just chicken, I checked the menu and theres no chicken and broccoli to order, I tried calling to speak to someone and I was placed on hold, hung up after 7 mins, I will head there tomorrow for an explanation.
Had a good experience at this restaurant. Although we didnt have a reservation on for a Mothers Day brunch, we were seated at good table. The food and customer service was excellent. The Resturant was clean and quiet. We had a good time and will highly recommend it to anyone around the area.
Food is great YES ! But other than having great good the service should be as good as the food. In this case I wont be bringing my family here. Cold cold Asian people not even a pleasant smile. Sometimes after a rough day I need to unwind. A smile dosent cost a thing . so Oriental plaza will be our first choice from now on. Oriental plaza its located at Richmond avenue staten island. And the food its pretty good but their employees smiles . big difference.
Rating this solely on the fact this place is one of two restaurants on the island with Dim Sum, so I cant speak for how normal service is. As far as the above mentioned goes, I found the dishes to be comparable to the dim sum places Ive been to in Manhattan and Brooklyn, granted not all of them. The food is tasty and to do only $90 damage for 7 people is more than fair. Wait staff and servers could be better but you dont always get what you want.
I ha e been patronising this restaurant since it opened. The food is still good, not exceptional as it was before. BUT THE Wait staff is the absolute worst.I was seated at a table with a glass of water and a napkin, I then had to flag down the waiters to order, when the soup arrived I had to request noodles, soy sauce, duck sauce, and most importantly utensilsWhen my food arrived the waiter poured the dish into a sizzling plate (What I wanted), but left the tray and empty pot on my table. When I removed it he lectured me that it was hot( the pot ... not the serving tray. The staff attitudes are totally uncalled for. Btw I left a$ 1.00 tip.I will not be returning.
Disgusting food, no taste at all, way overpriced for what it is. Chicken feels like rubber (Im hoping its chicken), shrimp is fishy. Was hoping to have some decent quality Chinese food thats better than the average takeout, but I got something worse than takeout. Chicken with vegetables in garlic sauce was labeled as spicy on the menu but had not even a hint of spice. Garlic sauce was more like a soup. My food was basically floating in it. Vegetable soup tasted like water. Do not recommend to anybody
Piss-poor service. Impatient wait staff who lied about how much funds could be used from a gift card (stated they could only charge $40 from a $50 Visa gift card), then added their own tip without our knowledge (likely because the waitress knew her level of service was lacking and didnt expect much of a tip). Therefore, the $40 charge they stated was all they could use magically grew to $48. Never again... and a shame, because the reason I gave as many as two stars in the review was because the meal was on point.
Ive been here a few times with my 2 year old son only becuase its closer. The dim sum is ok but the staffs are TERRIBLE! I only go there becuase its inside the mall but IVE HAD ENOUGH WITH THE STAFFS!! We were standing in the restaurant no one wanted to seat us i made eye contacts with the waiter i called him 3x but he just look at me then ignored me completley. The staffs are SLOW and RUDE! THEY DONT BRING OR OFFER YOU FOOD! The manager hes so cocky and doesnt do anything. He sits down at the table with his friends and chat instead of being professional serving other customers. Maybe he has a share in the business but come on be more professional. I asked him to bring us food 3x, my 2 year old was SCREAMING for food thats how bad it was. To Be Honestly from now on I RATHER TAKE THE DRIVE TO PREVIOUS TEA HOUSE FOR BETTER FOOD AND BETTER SERVICING AT LEAST OVER THERE THE STAFFS ARE NICE AND ACCOMMODATING. Staffs need BETTER MANAGEMENT theres a food court in the mall and THIS IS NOT THE ONLY DIM SUM PLACE IN STATEN ISLAND.
This is a nice little Chinese restaurant conveniently located within the Staten Island mall behind MK and at Macys end. We went for dim sum for the first time. The quality of their dim sum is okay, not as great as even precious island tea shop. However, their chefs menu items are very good. We ordered a Da Peng Chow Mei which is Cantonese style fried rice noodles. This dish is fantastic. The price is also very reasonable. I would recommend anyone interested in dim sum to give it a try.
Seems like people either love this place or hate it. Pros: excellent food, extensive menu, great pina colada, love their desserts (bittersweet chocolate cake and vanilla creme brulee), and location is very convenient. It’s located inside the mall near Macy’s so it’s a good place to go after hanging at the mall. Recommend coming here if you want a variety of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese. They also started dim sum, although their selections are still limited compared to places in Chinatown. Cons: it can get a bit loud, especially during dim sum hours. Sometimes service isn’t that great. Menu prices are also on the mid to higher end, but I think the quality of the food is worth the price
I have been ordering there for years, but tonight I ordered 2 orders of the shrimp wonton noodle soup and I had to throw out all the wontons. They were unbearably salted and mushy, a sign that the shrimp was not fresh. When seafood is bad, it becomes mushy. I tried calling the restaurant and talk to the manager, but they placed me on hold for an extended amount of time . Waist of money for 2 orders. Plus you can get food poisoning from bad seafood.
All I can say in a positive way is that the food was at best just average… The waitstaff is pathetic and very unattentive, the floor was not as clean as it should be and the prices are absolutely ridiculous! Can you believe you had to pay for the pot of tea you usually get for free at every other chinese restaurant...To top it off, at the end of the meal we requested fortune cookies which normally come without asking...the answer was “we don’t have any “!!!Come on!!!😬😬😖
Went here for a late lunch recently and ended up walking out before even placing my order. As a frequent guest, I usually sit at the bar and order a meal while running errands in the mall. Prior to ordering, I saw that the bartender was stressed and overwhelmed, which initially seemed odd as the restaurant was not too busy. After reviewing the menu, my boyfriend and I tried to order however I had requested a simple change to my meal (please remove the wontons) which caused the bartender to become short and nasty. She asked us to move from the bar to a table in the dining room. We both responded no as we were watching a baseball game on the TV screens. She abruptly walked away and brought the restaurant manager who then asked us to sit at a table instead of the bar if we would be making special food requests. All this over asking for “no wontons please”With that we had decided that we wanted to leave as I felt it was unfair that we would be asked to move to a table instead of our preferred location.Apparently that hit a nerve causing the bartender to scream and begin cursing at us in front of the manager and other restaurant guests. “You sat at the bar and ordered a f**king water & Sprite.” She continued yelling causing us both to be taken back by how we were being treated.Clearly I walked out of the restaurant causing the manager to follow right after us. He explained that she is “just a bartender” and was unable to handle our lunch orders which was why he asked us to sit at a table where we would be served by a waitress.Having worked in the food & beverage industry, I have seen my fair share of bad customer service however at no point should a restaurant guest be treated like this. I have already reached out to the restaurant owners and will be leaving my feedback on other sites (Yelp, Facebook, etc) as I wouldn’t want anyone else to go and receive this type of service.Obviously I will never returning or ever recommending to any familyfriends.

2022-04-10Im always leery about fusion Asian places but today I had dim sum, pork chops, AND sushi in the same meal and they were all done pretty well. Also the staff is really attentive and friendly but possibly because my mom goes there all the time. 😁

2022-03-08The host was so over the top friendly as though we had been previously acquainted. The service was awful. The waiter was too busy filling water pitchers to come over to our table. When he finally did, it was just to do us a favor. We ordered 2 appetizers, and 2 mains. The main course was served before the appys. I ordered the half Peking duck. The portion was so small, I thought it was half a pigeon! When the appys arrived after the mains, we sent them back. They were not happy about that. All the while, the table next to us, who was seated after us was getting their food before us.I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!..unless my wife insists.

2019-09-02My best man took me and our wives out for Chinese. He told me this place is one of best if not the best In Staten Island. The experience was on point. Place was clean and the food came out fairly quickly. Bit of a shakedown when done eating can’t really enjoy your party with conversations. They take your empty plates so fast and gives off a vibe to pay and leave. Besides that the food is murder. Worth checking out. Definitely coming back for a quick bite while enjoying the mall during the up and coming holidays 👨🏾🔬👨🏾🔬

2019-05-07Its just ok.Just dont order the sushi! The rice was very stale, and the taste wasnt very fresh. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was a little dull, but the Thai noodles were good.

2019-08-13East Pacific is accessible from inside or outside the Staten Island Mall. It is a causal inexpensive ($$) restaurant, family-friendly, groups are welcome, plenty of parking and Wheelchair accessible. This is my second time at this restaurant. The food and alcoholic drinks were just okay. I had pineapple fried rice, which lacked flavor. The beef and pepper dish with mushrooms tasted better than the pineapple dish. Food service was fast. The waiters are professional.
