Made an appointment with Mike D to get memorial piece for my mom as a cover up . This was a big tattoo for me and I cant tell you enough how happy i am with how its coming out so far. Looking forward to my next couple sessions to have it 100% complete . The staff are extremely talented , the atmosphere is great . While getting tattooed was offered coffee and snacks by Mel who is a sweetheart . Couldnt have had a better experience . 100% recommend .
I admit, I originally went because I knew this is where The Avengers got tattoos. I figured they had to be good. The experience went above my expectations. Especially during this pandemic. The place was impeccable. Great staff, and the artist made me cry with just showing me the stencil of my tattoo. It was exactly what I wanted, and the end product was simply beautiful. Thank you Caesar.
I had a great experience at East Side Ink. I recommend scheduling an appointment ahead of time, as theyre among the best in the city and have the clientele to prove it. Jess did a great job on my small script tattoo. She was super friendly, patient, and professional. The atmosphere is clean and an industrial-style instead of the usual grunge look of other tattoo parlors. Cash only. Definitely recommend East Side Ink!
My husband and I got tattoos by Yovanni this past weekend, and we are 100% happy with his work! He was amazing from the first consult to the final product. Everyone else there was great too -- especially Mel at the front desk. We will be back for our next ones. Cant say enough good things about this place and these people!!!!
Ive been tattooed a lot and Ive been to a lot of tattoo shops, East Side Ink is easily in my top 3 tattoo experiences. Clean shop, comfortable setting, super friendly people, etc. Absolutely no pretentiousness here and Id go so far as to say that the folks there genuinely care, Id call them true professionals of their craft. Its not easy being a place that sells art but these folks do a terrific job or making it a really human and meaningful experience. My apportionment was with Jonah Ellis and I found him to be a really cool guy. We were able to have totally normal conversation and hes got a great personality. I showed him the abstract idea for what I wanted to, he took it from there and made it something that he was stoked to apply. I look forward to getting more ink Jonah in the near future.Bottom line: make an appointment, save up some cash, and go get an awesome tattoo.
Great service and we were in and out. Granted it wasnt a complicated tattoo with lots of detail. The staff was awesome and the owner was super cool too. Also and very importantly they charge per tattoo and not per hour like a lot of shops now. My daughters tattoo would have been $150 easy anywhere on Melrose with an hourly rate.
Terrible, the lady on front desk with long dark hair and glasses really should learn how to treat potential customers with a little more empathy and respect. She was rude and laughed in my face when I mentioned to her that I had scheduled a consult with Kreg Franco, who failed to provide any work or barely even reply to my messages when i had made the consult and he was happy to take my 100 dollars deposit which by the way the store does not tell you or have it written anywhere instore or online that their deposits are non refundable, i get why deposits are in place but when Kreg clearly found it difficult to respond to my emails instead leaving it until the morning of the appointment to send me an image of what i had sent him of an idea i wanted but asked if he could customize it for me and he was willing to do all this on the day of the consult but as days went by and 3 emails with no response until two days before the appointment why would i pay this artist to provide a service that he clearly is not capable of doing, really unprofessional. When i told him i wanted to cancel and have my deposit refunded he said sure and to call the shop (again no mention of deposits non refundable) i call the store and the lady working who claimed to be the owner (which i very highly doubt because it didnt seem like she cared too much about what kind of service she was providing or about the reputation of the store, Ive just honestly never came across someone so unprofessional and i was shocked when she said she was the owner if she is) said that i could not get my money back as deposits are non refundable, which i understand if your employee was doing his job there would be no issue but he openly apologized infront of myself and the lady on the desk later on when i went into the store, saying he was away with family for days and thats why he wasnt responding (might have been good to tell me this at the beginning before i made the appointment if he needed more time), still the owner would not give in and saw no fault until i said there was no contract or papers signed and that no where online or in store did it mention deposits are non refundable so when i said to her i could take this further she laughed in my face and said over 100 dollars at this stage its not about the cash, its about the fact that you clearly do not know when to admit you are wrong and give an innocent customer back their cash, they basically took my cash to give it to Kreg for going away with his family for a few days. So you are welcome Kreg enjoy the 100 dollars you clearly so badly needed.
I recently went in for a spontaneous tattoo and was paired up with Caeser. He is a pretty amazing artist, I generally dont experiment with new artist. But it was a right time and right person type of moment. Despite the $200 hrly charge which I wasnt thrilled about being that my tattoo wasnt so large. I would definitely recommend this shop. From the people to the aura of the place it is truly an amazing shop.
Updated review: Over the last few years Ive gotten 3 large & complex tattoos at this studio with 3 different artists. Each time Ive come away with the same feeling... They are the BEST! The people who work there are friendly and welcoming. Even the artist that arent your artist take time to comment on the progress of your piece. Their artists are very talented and its clear they want you to LOVE the art they created for you. Ive gone back at least 9 times now, each session lasting several hours, and every session has always been positive. Most recently Ive been working with @theclicketyclick Jonah . He is soooo amazingly creative its sick. His work is beautiful, delicate and intricate. He is also a great person with a really good heart and, lets face it, an amazing dog (Owen aka:TheScaredCow) whom I just love. Going back in the spring for more work with Jonah Ellis. Cant wait!original review:The best studio in NYC. The artists are amazing and the shops staff are knowledgeable and can match your vision with the right artist. Well worth it.
Amy Shapiro did an awesome “gentleman dog” on my arm at East Side Ink today. My fourth tattoo, far and away the best experience so far. I was lucky and there was a cancellation, so with about twenty four hours notice I checked out Amy’s work on the net. She is an amazing artist, and a really lovely person. She took the time to go through the design with me, help me with size and placement, and after I emailed her a photo of my dog, she did an amazing job with it. She really brought it to life, and it turned out even better than I had hoped.Great place, good vibe, nice people. Thanks Amy!
Came here with my sister to get some of the simplest tattoo designs on us thinking it was going to amazing, however it wasnt the case. Tasha Rubinow was our tattoo artist and both of us just hated the way she did our tattoos. Lines were inconsistent, shapes werent delicate and colors were almost like mixed with other ink or something. It was so bad that my sister booked a removal appointment after the healing period was over. I ended up having someone else fix my tattoo. Do not recommend Tasha.
I did a tattoo there 1 month ago. No complications, everything still prefect.Tasha Rubinow is a great tattoo artist ! All of the staff is sympathetic.Only bad point : the price. Okay its more expensive than the other tattooist. BUT its the price of the *quality* ! Perfect !
Hello,I was traveling from out of town and I wanted to find the right artist that could do what I wanted; the first time. My overall goal was that I wanted to get a realistic Mountain Lion tattoo on my right bicep. The artist that caught my eye the most; was Jonah Ellis at Eastside Ink. When I was online I saw his portfolio on their website; I was very intrigued by what I saw. I called ahead and made an appointment for a consultation with Jonah. The consultation was quick and he asked me a lot of detailed questions about my idea and took notes/pictures of my idea. When I went for appointment to get it done. He was very kind, professional and sat down with me before hand and went over the artwork. He was very thorough and tweaked the artwork on his tablet; to look exactly the way I wanted it to look like. One thing I thought was really cool was. He took a picture of my arm and placed the image on it so, I could see what it would look like before I actually got it done. I was very impressed with the way he explained everything and the design overall; was awesome. In the end you know a tattoo is awesome, when the artist is showing everyone around the studio; what he did. I give the tattoo artist Jonah Ellis an A+ and I would highly recommend him; if you want an awesome tattoo and a great experience. Eastide Ink in NYC is very clean and very professional. Thank you Jonah Ellis and Eastside Ink for an awesome experience.
Gave us one price at the super rushed consult (even though I booked in advance) and then once the tattoo is finished they charge us a diff price (over $100 more for tiny tattoos). Claiming the consult was only a “quote” subject to change—I have many tattoos and this is not normal. This is wrong. Orrin Hurley lacks any passion for his job as he seems completely over it and bored, Is super lazy didn’t even put in minor details that were in the stencil, didn’t fill areas in evenly, and doesn’t care about if the customer is happy with the result. What a rip off. Would never go back to this tattoo shop again. Don’t believe the hype. Avoid!
I dropped by East Side Ink and was immediately struck by how kind and down to earth everyone there is. I had my heart set on getting a tattoo that has a very special meaning to me. The woman sitting at the front desk (whose name I didn’t catch) had no way of knowing what the tattoo meant to me but was so incredibly kind. Maybe I was giving off the vibe of “I need to do this for me today”, because she moved stuff around to fit me in with Yovanni later that day. We sat together briefly and I showed him the inspiration for what I wanted. In minutes a stencil was created and in less than an hour I walked out full to bursting at how happy I was with the results. Whoever does your HR, keep at it. You’ve got some really wonderful humans and artists working there.
I went there after having booked an appointment in advance and the artist, Tasha, was 1.5 hours late. While I waited they asked me to look up everything about my design myself on their computer however when she arrived, she completely discredited all the things I researched as they themselves asked me to. Eventually, she was unable to design anything in the time crunch. It was ethical of her however, to ask me not to get the tattoo. But that doesnt change the fact that this was a colossal waste of time. Nearly 4 hours gone from my day for nothing. Would recommend you really follow up before you go to them.
Never get Tasha Rubinow. Rude. Rude. Rude. She changes everything about your design. It’s your body and your money. She tells you how she wants it. Pretty much what she can and can’t do. She insults you by making fun of your tattoo ideas. It turns out that she is not good enough to do detailed tattoos. Stay away from this place. We wasted so many hours here!! There are so many tattoo places in NYC that charges less and with better artists!!
Tasha was fabulous. She had the perfect vibe for me, and her positive but casual and straightforward attitude was so key in keeping me calm and comfortable throughout the process. All other artists at the time were friendly and helpful, welcoming and easygoing. Great experience overall.
Okay. This place does not like asian people! We ended up walking out. We just couldnt understand what we were hearing from a worker named Tasha there. She was either in a bad mood or always unfriendly - she was trying to tell us to change everything about the tattoo design we wanted. She even mocked our design. It was just my recently passed away grandmothers name in a different language (Chinese). We told her but she rolled her eyes and said, thats not why people should get tattoos and that the Chinese language looks messy. There are so many other places that we can go to, so we just walked out.
Had the pleasure of working with Jen, who is the master of micro blading brows. She changed my whole facial world! It was amazing waking up today and looking in the mirror and being like “omg yesssssssssss” !!! She did such an amazing job, and was so patient and gentle during the whole process. She made sure that each brow fits my face perfectly, working with the natural symmetry of my face, she is a true artist and sculptor. They are my new favorite thing about myself, I’m hooked!Thank you thank you thank you Jen!!!
Growing up getting Tattooed I always remember the Tattoo Parlors were all the same. Art on the wall, waiting room, chair, the smell (they should sell that green soap in incense or something). I love the fact that places like East Side Ink took it to the new level. It almost makes you think (Clean!!!) The minute you walk in.
Ezechial Ortega took a 15 year old nothing tattoo and made it into an amazing piece of art. The details both subtle and grand are the work of a true artist at the top of his game. Eastside Ink backed up its already impressive rep. Im not an inkhead but I felt comfortable amongst all the inkheads . Great experience on all levels.
Stay AWAY from this tattoo shop . They are the worst . Bad attitude, over prices, they want to do it there way. It’s your body not there’s you pick your tattoo. You don’t need someone to tell you it doesn’t look good on you . You are the one paying, you have to live with it. Bad experience at this store.

2022-08-08I have been tattooed by many artists at the shop (Caesar, Jen, Jonah, Josh, Kreg, etc) and many others who have came and gone over the years. Always clean, professional, and kind. Gianna at the counter is a gem and a total knockout. Love you all.

2020-07-20One of the best tattoo experiences Ive ever had. Impeccably clean with an extremely friendly staff. My artist was Jonathan Ellis (who goes by Jonah) who was just flat out awesome. He was able to fix a previous tattoo of mine that in my opinion was un fixable. I left the shop happier than when I went in and the art work itself was A+. If I could rate this 10 stars I would and I strongly recommend if you are looking for a tattoo this is where you need to go. I will definitely be back. Thank you Jonah!!! 🙂

2019-06-04Absolutely great shop to get work from. I’ve been getting tattooed by Orrin Hurley for over 10 years now, with extensive coverage on most of my bodysuit. He is an exemplary artist with a keen eye for form and flow. Above his artistic talents he is also extremely personable with a professional and welcoming demeanor. The shop is clean and inviting and Mel, the shop manager, was helpful, welcoming and made me feel at home. 10/10 would recommend this shop and Orrin to people.
