Granted, the seafood was fresh. But when all one can muster about a self-proclaimed award-winning fine dining restaurant is, well, at least the seafood was fresh...theres something to be said. The small plates lived up to their name, being small not only in size but also in matching expectations for fine-dining. The two-minute calamari was bathed in a sauce reminiscent of Newmans Mariana. The shrimp and avocado would have been delightful if not for the offending shrimp who was not properly deveined. Our entreés arrived delectably warm, with the Parmesan Encrusted Cod bathed in a cream sauce – drowning in sauce does perhaps appropriately align with their oceanic theme. The fish and chips were the highlight of our dinner: crispy, melt-in-your-mouth flaky, juicy.A pity the other dishes didnt shine the same. In a word, Eastchester Fish Gourmet is overrated. However, major compliments to waitstaff and employees. They were generally wonderful amidst the chaos of take-outs and busy dinner rush, especially the server who offered us extra cornbread.
This place is amazing. The manager Geneva was so helpful and so accommodating. The bartender Krysten lets us try their amazing wine selection. This place is the best seafood restaurant Ive ever been to. The fresh seafood and the clean restaurant is all I need to be happy. Wish I can give more stars
If fish is your dish served in a lovely dining room by easant professionals, this is your place. Restaurant Week offerings were hard to choose from. Started with Oysters: six perfect Bluepoints on a bed of mini ice cubes with two sauces, one an Asian style oil with scallions the other a chili type--both could have used a bit more zing. For the main course salmon over roast autumn veggies, so fresh and cooked perfectly well-done as requested. Desert was three lovely profiteroles with kitcat ice cream and chocolate sauce, plus a cappuccino at not extra charge. We shall return!
This restaurant is always consistently excellent! The food is fresh and variety is plentiful. The staff makes sure you have your meal any way you prefer, they will substitue anything, and have a long list of options. The service is excellent. This is one of my favorite restaurants.
My favorite local restaurant; always fresh. Been coming here for over 20+ years. Although last time, I was hoping to sit at the bar, but they only have 4 stools; used to have more back in the day. The hostess was rude and spoke loudly telling me that there was no seat at the bar. She made me feel like a criminal. She didn’t even bother to try to find me a table. Obviously not knowing that I’m a long time customer and have spent quite a bit of money in this restaurant over the years, I was quite disappointing.
Always a great meal... walked I. asked for a table and hostess said, well ... we have been stopping seating at 9 ... but we will fit you in... Glad they did m, we disnt abuse it and the servers did not make us feel rushed eve. after that snide comment. Lived here for years will go back
I have to say that the food was good but the service definitely not. We were sitting at the bar and the bar guy had the worst mood. He was not looking at us at all, barely replying to our questions about menu, yelling at other employees in front of us....all In all not sure we will be back. Too bad...
I love that such a nice gourmet restaurant is right in the neighborhood! Great wine menu, fresh flavors, creative menu, great presentation. A little pricey, slightly stuffy, but a nice night out. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the wait staff is knowledgeable.
The waiter was great he was polite courteous and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing . The staff really provides a great customer service , However there is no changing station and the manager or owner not sure surveyed the table in front and behind us twice and completely ignored us, which felt a bit discriminatory.
Food mediocre. Tasteless. Not the experience I expected. The first time I ate there I had an appetizer which was amazing, but the 3 dinners Ive had recently were very disappointing. I thought Id try it multiple times to see if it was just an off night, but my conclusion is that the chef is just not very good.
Truly lovely space service top notch fish. The attached fish market is pure genius. The serving staff knows what to do and how to treat the customers properly. Restaurant Week is crazy here; they put the crab cake with lobster sauce on the menu and what could be better?
Hard to comment on the food. Website says takeout section is open 11-6, Monday through Saturday. But I was rudely told minutes after 5pm, the takeout section closes at 5pm. No need for that since the mistake wasn’t on my part. Just a very frustrating experience.Update: post this, I received a call from the owner apologizing and offering a concession for my experience. I’ll admit that it’s rare to see this type of customer focus / service and I am upgrading my rating as a result.
This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Westchester county and its in my top five list of seafood restaurants in the US that I have tried. Not only is their seafood fresh and high quality but they know how to prepare it in ways that accentuate rather than mask natural flavors. Its a casual place but the service and food are impeccable. Now they take reservations for small groups as well.
This place must have changed hands since my last visit a few years back. Menu lacks fresh or wild fish selections, prices are premium. It was so freezing cold inside that I ordered hot tea. The tea was reconstituted powdered tea!Food terrible.Dont bother! Stay away! Bad news!
Worst seafood restaurant ever!! Service was atrocious. The food was worse!! We asked for a seafood player for a Ceoliac and was told it was no problem at all they could cater for it. Got a hunk of deep fried chips and some rough seafood. When I complained about the lack of gluten free items on the plate, I got told the mussels and oysters were gluten free and wasnt that enough!! They the took the deep fried fish back to the kitchen and replaced it with a piece of grilled fish that was like a piece of leather.Could not get out of there quick enough!!!Lucky to get 1 star!!
Went with high expectations because of the reviews and a recommendation from a friend. There is nothing wrong with the food or experience. It is just average! My wife ordered Pan Seared Striped Bass and I ordered Parmesan Encrusted Cod. Taste was pretty plain. May still go back to try something different on the Manu.
Peeky toe crab, tuna tartar, black cod, seafood risotto all fresh, all delicious. Risotto was perfect. We missed the owners last night, thank you for squeezing our party in so late. The white chocolate souffle is so damn sinfully tasty it shouldnt exist but it does, GET IT HERE. Service is like no other, the best Waitstaff have congregated here.
Zagat was not lying, this place deserves those hard earned stars! I’m not sure what I loved more, the atmosphere or the gastronomic orgasm. And the price? It was perfectly reasonable for what we had. The bill was up there but we ate and drank a lot and the food was out of this world. You get what you pay for.
After picking up my companion at her daughters house we were looking for a bite to eat on the way back to Manhattan . We were told about this great fish place they had found not far from their Scarsdale home. Enter Eastchester Fish Gourmet. Originally from Long Island fresh and fish go hand in hand. The moment walking in and being greeted by the owner I saw the pride taken in not only providing a comfortable venue , but also a love of what people do. Edgar our waiter was charming and we shared great conversation. The Halibut we chose was cooked to absolute perfection. The Manhattan Clam Chowder the best I ever had outside of homemade.Bottom line in the neighborhood or an hour away if quality and freshly prepared fish is your jam this restaurant belongs on your bucket list!!!
Awful food. We made a reservation for 5 people plus a baby, and we were waiting by the bar for about 15 minutes, (not a biggy).. We decided to order appetizer and main course... Everything came after a while (the place was packed), so we understood... I decided to eat something different this time... (Homemade Herb Tagliatelle with slow cooked shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams and spicy crushed tomatoes). I could not taste a bit of what I got... There was no flavor what so ever and they even forgot to put salt in the water while cooking the pasta.... I ate a little bit and I left the plate... about half hour later, (15 minutes after everyone finished their meal), the waiter came to us to ask if everything was ok, and I told them the truth. My meal was disgusting. The manager at that point, came over the table to apologize and offered me something else... At that point, after half hour of waiting, i was not going to order anything else. 1) Because I didnt want to wait. 2) Because at that point at wasnt hungry anymore. SO the manager left and never came back. We got the check and the pasta I tasted was on the bill and the check had the tip included...(Im wonder if they were afraid I was not going to tip them for the pasta)... (or just a party of 5+ the tip is included)... anyway... They didnt do anything about my bad experience. I will never go back to this restaurant.
Went in for a holiday meal. The ambiance was perfect. Classically decoarated in holiday fashion. The staff was very attentive, and as usual the food was on par. The Skate is my personal favorite, mild and fresh with a hint of spicy thai seasoning. Will definately be going back.
This is the restaurant has super high quality surf & turf food and a very hard-working staff. The only problem with this restaurant is the management/overworked staff/lack of space. If you are sitting at a table of two and you both order lobsters good luck finding space to put your drink down. They used to let tables of four have only two people sitting if you both ordered lobsters but management has changed and changed again so the reservation policies are tenable. For some reason they cant get Alaskan king crab when they had for the ten prior years before; again management is having a severe problem figuring out how to handle things.
Best fresh fish in Westchester. Not a lot of choices if there are land lubbers in your party. Depending on the time and day can get noisy. Unfortunately you pay for the freshness as the meal tends to be a little pricey. Early bird special is a real bargain. Service is usually excellent.
I asked my waitress about the swordfish dish and she said it was a new addition and very popular, so I ordered it. What arrived was clearly not swordfish but a full fish sea bass. I told the waitress that I ordered the swordfish with a mango salsa. She pointed to the soy sauce that was served on the side and said that was the mango salsa. Clearly, she was not familiar with the menu, nor knew the difference between swordfish and sea bass and mango salsa and soy sauce. I didnt have time to wait for a new dinner to be cooked, so I ate the sea bass. It tasted fine, but was not what I had ordered. The real problem was the uneducated staff. That being said, the mussels appetizer was delicious.
5 stars for the consistently excellent quality of the fish. The menu scarcely changes when it comes to the set-ups, sauces & sides, but the fish species rotate to reflect whatever was best and freshest that morning at the Fulton Market. They take that trouble to go every day, and they know who to buy from and what to buy. We’re spoiled because we can get off-the-boat local catches on Cape Cod. EFG’s offerings are just as good, plus . . . Branzino! All that being said, it does appear that the management/labor relations are not great. While service is certainly OK, the constant turnover among wait staff & hosts is disconcerting and undercuts a lot of the pleasure in being a “regular.”
This is one of our favorite restaurants! There are so many good choices on the menu that it can be difficult to choose. I love the soft shell crab or Maine steamers for an appetizer. My husband’s favorite is the crab cake. The chopped salad or roasted beet salad are also delicious. My go to entrees are the pan seared sea bass with garlic crushed potatoes with wild mushrooms, or the parmeson encrusted cod. My husband prefers the whole crispy Black Sea bass or the whole grilled bronzino. Desserts are also excellent. We adore the flourless chocolate cake or the sundae or the soufflé. The service is professional and upbeat. There is a meticulously chosen wine list reasonably priced. There are non fish selections for my daughter and vegetarian dishes for my son.

2021-10-31An experience beyond any other. The food, service and attention to detail are a 10++. Jazz was playing in the background as we were eating which just added to the night. Dont hesitate to dine here. Your mind and stomach will thank you.

2022-03-24I would have given the 5 stars for the excellent seafood, but this happened:Had dinner at the Eastchester Fish Gourmet on the 1st evening of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. What a great and stupid idea! Since it was Monday we had an early, 6:45 reservation...and so did everyone else. This surge that became a tsunami threw the bar and kitchen off. The drinks were served very late, so were the apps and mains. The real problem was it didnt hit everyone equally. But after a conversation with the manager the right things started happening. Then came the food. Everything was just wow. White sangria was great, the salads and the oysters done just right plus the the scampi and fish and chips...just this side of legendary. Follow all that with hot fudge sundaes, we forgot about the earlier service errors.Oh yeah, management then did the right thing...paid for our drinks.

2020-07-29When out looking for somewhere nice to eat we happened upon this spot. Even though its outside in what appears to be an alley theres a big green wall facing it which makes it feel like Central Park. The waitress couldnt have been nicer very attentive and knowledgeable. The Oysters and Little Necks were great as were the Crab Cake and Crispy Octopus it was actually all delicious I was really extremely happy all around. The drinks at least the one I had three of were also good. My wife order a half bottle prosecco which she appeared to enjoy. I took some photos but Ill definitely be going back.

2018-03-27Best seafood I have ever eaten unless I caught it and cooked it myself. Excellent selection and presentation. Cooked perfectly whether shellfish, whole fin fish, sword steak, etc. The crispy fried octopus was outstanding.
