Positive: Absolutely nothing. Negative: First, the location is one that google maps won¿t get you to. Second, there were druggies in the courtyard where you park to go in the office. I didn¿t bother going to check in. I left and figured out something else. Google reviews are horrendous.
I stayed in room 201 for 2 nights its great for the price..the staff is friendly and the housekeepers are great and working hard.Floors were shiny and the bed was nice.I mean the staff is working on a budget to meet your budget..leave them some slack on how comfortable the beds are and what have you.Beds were clean, I use to be a housekeeper myself and the rooms are legit for your stay.P.s being a housekeeper is harder than you think physically as well as mentally..it wouldnt hurt to tip.
The hotel was reasonably priced for the area, and in a good location. the cleanliness bed and sitting area was ok, however the bathroom was riddled with hairs. asked front desk to have someone clean bathroom and leave fresh towels but neither happened. other than that, the say was average for a hotel.
If you are looking for a decent place to stay without breaking the bank - then this is it. Room was warm, clean and comfortable bed. The microwave and refrigerator worked and was very easy to use. The TV was fantastic so was the selection of stations available. Again if you are just interested in a place to sleep or rest then this is it. No frills but the basics are there. We had a major snowstorm the day before my stay and the parking lot and walkways were clean and safe. Also the staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
Have returned multiple times. The management is very accommodating, friendly, respectful and very professional. On a recent stay I had a problem occur overnight the first room I was in. After letting management know, they apologised I was given a new room and extra time to switch over. The rooms are spacious and greatly facilitate getting work done. Beds are firm. The rooms are particularly excellent for someone who (mobility concerns or otherwise) needs easy access to their vehicle. Rooms (that I have been in) all have new laminate flooring. If something extra is needed in the room (e.g. extra chair/lamp), and you alert the management, they will do their best to accommodate. Location is fantastic - very close to the freeway (81), but still close to local small town stores, main street and takeout, as well as chain type establishments. Also convenient driving for someone who has business in both Ithaca and Syracuse. The Cortland Econo Lodge management is constantly working to update the rooms and have changed all their cleaning crew. If you had a bad experience in the past I recommend being frank about your concerns with the management and giving it another try.
Got charged for half day for checking in early and put in a room that hadnt been properly clean. Pubic hairs in the bathroom and chunk of hair on the towels. Fleas everywhere. Switched rooms without being given a discount. Hadnt been dusted in months. Bed bugs. Again, no discount. Disgusting accommodations.
Please take time to read full review and view pictures for yours and your family’s health and safety!!!Our room (214) was very dirty and poorly kept - infested with bedbugs! I checked the sheets before getting into bed and putting my five year old in bed as well because I felt everything was so dirty that I should check. The blankets on both beds were stained in several places, and one had a spot that could have clearly been washed out (had it been washed at all). Unfortunately, it was very dark in the room and I didn’t think to check the mattress. I awoke the next morning and while I’m the restroom I saw a bedbug on my shirt. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, but did a search to find it was a common bedbug. I collected the bug in a tissue immediately, took pictures of the room, and tucked the bug into a plastic cup to show hotel staff. Lucky I did, because when I brought it to their attention (after waiting for someone to come out of their office for five minutes and three rings of their bell), I was given a half-hearted apology from the first woman and told “we don’t have bedbugs” by the second man. I pointed out the bug that I had given to the woman and the man looked it over and said, “we’ve never had bedbugs before.” I told him that the state of our room did not support that at all, as it was disgustingly dirty. I asked what they would do about the issue, and he said they would shut down the room and said a simple sorry. I was promised a phone call from the manager, but never received it. I can’t imagine ever letting my family stay in a place like this again and I hope that no one else goes through this experience with them again. As a side note, the toilet seat was dirty upon our arrival and the shower was so disgusting that I couldn’t bring myself to use it (after waking up knowing there had been bedbugs sharing our space). There were plenty of scuffs, peeling caulk, and holes in the bathroom door stuffed with cloth to prove that they don’t maintain the space as they should. There were also dirty spots all over door frames, walls, tub floor, sink, toilet seat, mirror, and bed light fixtures that it’s clear that the cleaning staff does not maintain any sort of hygiene standards let alone heightened standards for COVID. I have never seen such a terrible hotel room or had such a poor response to a complaint that was given with calm and patience from myself to the staff.
Overall feel of the place is outdated. Staff is incredibly rude. I had to shorten my trip by one day. They still charged me for the extra day, because I didnt give 48 hours notice. No breakfast, and an overall uneasy feeling from other guests. Avoid this trashy hotel at all costs. Honestly better off to sleep in your car. If I could post zero stars, I would.
Went to the hotel expected to pay $80 and end up paying $101 room smelled like it was sprayed with bug spray had to leave the door open just to air it out very outdated very sketchy place bathrooms were nasty toilet not even connected to the floor oh one of the worst places Ive stayed in a while had to keep an eye on my vehicle because I was worried about somebody youre stealing it if I was you I would not stay here
The room was fine but bring your own pillow. The reason for the one star is we were practically kicked out by the housekeepers the morning of checkout. We were packing up our car shortly after 9 and asked twice if we checked out which I replied no not yet. Only to go back to room and they were already cleaning it out! I quicked doubled checked the room and grabbed hopefully though remaining items
My friend and I stayed the night for a wedding nearby. There were no other hotels available for the weekend. We got a no smoking room. Upon entry it was obvious that someone had smoked in the room as the walls were yellow and there was a stench of stale cigarette. The tub in the bathroom had not been cleaned out and had hair in it. And housekeeping came into the room twice without knocking while we were still in the room, two hours before the check out time.
Felt extremely unsafe with illegal activity going on very apparently in the hotel. Booked a king bed room, upon arrival was still offered the room even though it had “no water”. Ended up taking a room where the TV did not turn off, room appeared to be dirty, but did have running water. Steer clear at all costs!!!
Didnt expect perfection but it was pretty dirty, broken ceiling tiles, tv did not work, phone did not work, shower head was gross and when I was checking in the man at the counter was on the phone the entire time. Quite time is 10pm to 6am but theres people outside yelling and slamming doors at midnight.Wont be back dont recommend
Bed was a little hard, shower had a little mold in the corner caulking. Other than that it was fine. We didnt hear any noise from the parking lot or other guests. Front desk employee was friendly and helpful. There is a Continental breakfast included in your stay. We would stay there again
I did not feel comfortable during my stay here. While checking in, the person at the front desk creeped me out by insisting I be his friend despite just meeting. After that, he took my phone number I had to give him while checking in and texted me. I locked my door and closed my blinds once I got back to my room. Other than the unprofessional service, the room was nice.
The room was a little musty smelling and run down compared to others that we have stayed in. Went to the local CVS and picked up an air freshener and it did the trick. It is definitely in need of a updating. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. The towels were clean as well. The management was there to help with any issues that came up. I paid a lot for this room but it was a Parent Weekend at the local college and all the hotels were over priced at the time.
We have not had the best experience at EconoLodge, and stayed at this one in Cortland because it was the only place we could find on short notice. We were pleasantly surprised. While it is obvious the building is old..........the rooms appeared to be recently renovated. Very nice, very clean, very comfortable.......... The staff (I believe they were the owners) were outstanding! Never made to feel so welcome. So pleasant and accommodating when we requested a ground floor room, recommending the perfect place to eat, providing directions, nice breakfast in the morning with waffles.......and very very impressed when the next day they said Good Morning and called me by name. Highly recommend the hotel.
Have returned to the Cortland Econo Lodge many times. The management is very accommodating and very professional (and much preferable to more pricey locations). The rooms are spacious and greatly facilitate getting work done. Beds are firm. Environment is quiet. The rooms are particularly excellent for someone who needs easy access to their vehicle. All-in-all it is a highly recommended for a budget-minded and/or mobility-challenged traveler.Hotel location is great. Rooms (that I have been in) all have new laminate flooring. If there are any concerns, or if, something extra is needed in the room (e.g. extra chair/lamp), and you alert the management, they will do their best to accommodate.Location is fantastic - very close to the freeway (81), but still close to local small town stores, main street and takeout, as well as chain type establishments. There are plenty of locations to take your children or dog for a walk. Also convenient driving for someone who has business in both Ithaca and Syracuse.During my latest stay, I had a problem occur overnight the first room I was in. After letting management know, they apologized I was given a new room and extra time to switch over. The only big problem that I have encountered is the unreliable internet. That said, the rooms also have working ethernet outlets which is difficult to find. The Cortland Econo Lodge management is constantly working to update the rooms and have changed all their cleaning crew. If you had a bad experience in the past I recommend being frank about your concerns with the management and giving it another try.
Decent room for the price, I had to ask for replacement coffee machine which was broken and filthy, heater was not sufficient (was17 degrees outside) and I asked for additional electric heater. WiFi was off at 6am .Previous stay I also had problems with the room heater.
I stayed at this hotel when I attended the Greek Peak Winter Spartan Race. The hotel was nice. The location was within a few minutes of numerous restaurants and Main Street and a very easy 15 minute drive to Greek Peak Ski Resort. Check-in was quick and hassle-free. Our room was nice and warm (important on a frigid 11 degree night) and when we got too warm we had good control over the temperature in the room. The staff at the front desk was friendly. The breakfast was pretty basic; bagels, cereal, coffee, OJ, but it was nice that it was offered and quick and easy to grab on our way up to the mountain. The room was clean and it was quiet. I was a little nervous to stay here based on the slightly lower rating on the travel site I used, but when I read into most of the reviews the complaints were petty or specific to a certain room (e.g. heat/AC unit was noisy P.S. ours was nice and quiet). Our room was also advertised as non-smoking and I was happy to find that this seemed to be the case. I didnt smell any smoke and the room smelled clean. Overall, Im happy I stayed here and would stay here again in the future!
This hotel while older, still has many amenities. They do offer a continental breakfast, although at the time I booked the room, it wasnt listed. To me the best amenity was the hotel manager and his wife! They had not owned the hotel for long, and were doing a lot of the work load themselves. In spite of being busy, it was a sold out weekend, they always had time to answer my questions, help me out, and offer anything they could do to make my stay better. 3 cheers for great customer service!!
The hotel staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. The room is neat and clean. I was very weary because all that they had available was a smoking room. But I was very pleased to find the room fresh and smoke free. The bed was not the most comfortable, but the room and bedding was clean and fresh. I would definitely stay again!
We found this hotel to be clean and tidy. However, the accommodations are very dated. The rooms were adequate for a short stay. Beds were only Full size, so not the most comfortable for 2 average adults to sleep in. The breakfast was very basic, so plan on eating elsewhere if you need a meal. The management and staff were very friendly, which made up for the environment.
This property is clean, quiet & reasonably priced as a stopover location. We arrived around 11pm and were greeted by the attendant and felt like we were appreciated guests, which is nice considering our late arrival. It’s great that the property grounds has security cameras for guest and staff safety. Appreciated the continental breakfast.
Great location, walking distance to lots of good food/drinks. Room had fridge and microwave. Breakfast had a waffle maker, cereal, bagels, pastries, toast, milk, coffee & OJ. No problem parking- there is a second entrance if you have a taller vehicle- mine is 67 and I made it under the main entrance overpass with no problem. I never felt concerned for my safety but room had slide/bar lock on door (this makes me feel better no matter where I stay.) Overall a great value for what you pay.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was ok, but the bathroom was dirty. There were balls of hair on the floor and the tile was filthy. There were a few flying bugs in the sink area. The door to the room was very difficult to close. It was convenient for us to stay here, and it fit its purpose, but we probably wont be back.
This hotel was convenient for our family health situation, but hotel is older and needs repairs. Sagging upper level. Staff was friendly and helpful but rates were high for facility and breakfast consisted of cold cereal, toast, bagel, pastry. We stayed for 10 days and only ate breakfast once. Bathroom was extremely small, had to close door to use toilet. Housekeeper was very friendly and made sure we had clean towels. Linen was clean. Room had small microwave, apartment refrigerator, and flat screen TV. Plenty of parking and while we were there many vacancies during the week. We asked for long term rate but were told that they couldnt reduce much because of the weekend rates in their area.
Great. The staff was kind and friendly. This hotel is in a great location, very close to almost every restaurant you can think of.Room was clean and tidy.Continental Breakfast is very average and we are almost upset. If you stay here skip the continental breakfast, service was excellent
This is a decent motel. The room was decent size. It is not new, but is in decent condition, and very clean. There was a little musky smell when we entered, but the A/C cleared that quickly. The A/C, internet, everything worked. Best of all, it is located a block from downtown. We could walk to several restaurants and bars without worrying about driving or parking.
My friends and I recently graduated from the college in town. The weekend that we stayed was a very busy weekend in town because it was Chilibration. The weekend was jam packed with activities. That being said, the staff was very accommodating. Especially with other guest showing up throughout the night. The rooms were very clean too! My friends and I plan on making an anual trip to Cortland and will definitely stay again.
Honestly I was not made to feel welcome or that this hotel truly wanted me to stay there. The accommodations were dirty, had a very bad odor throughout, did not look cared for, made me feel disgusting and honestly if I hadnt traveled for over 12 hours and was about to fall asleep on my feet would have refused the room and left with or without a refund. The bathroom was the worst I have ever experienced, the bed was filthy covered in previous guests hair and dirt, there was an awful wet and moldy smell in the room that even the air couldnt help, the service was awful the staff pretty rude and sarcastic. I wouldnt recommend this accommodation to anyone and I will not be staying there again.
Lot of weird activities. A lady said drug addicts lives here. Loud music. People walking around outside entering different rooms. Not safe environment.Rooms were not cleaned. Bed looked like someone just slept in it. We left n asked for refund. Econo Lodge In Cortland NY
The Lodge was spotless, well maintained and comfortable. The management clearly takes pride in ownership and even the front sidewalk, side yard, stairwells and parking lot were immaculate. After a 5 hour road trip, at night, in a terrible, sky-blackening torrential rain storm, my family and I needed some good luck. We found it at the Cortland Econo Lodge.Night management was friendly, prepared and welcoming. The room was clean and fresh, and prepared with care. The bathroom was properly stocked and very clean. All the equipment in the room was in perfect working order - we felt welcomed as if they had known us for years!Day management was cut from the same cloth. The continental style breakfast was out early and fresh. Checkout was a breeze; but, more importantly, the professionals that run this establishment are genuinely nice people and clearly take pride in their building, their service and themselves.
I rarely take the time to write reviews and complaints like this but I really feel like it is important to do to prevent other families and people from staying at this hotel. We booked through Hotels.com which we were aware was a non-refundable cancellation policy, which is why when we checked in, I happily signed the paperwork that stated so with the nice girl at the desk Rebecca.Upon checking in, our NON-smoking rooms reeked so bad of smoke that it was choking us. I am allergic to smoke and my throat was closing within a minute of being inside. The rooms were infested with ants and the smoke detectors were ripped out of the walls leaving just the exposed wires hanging, which we are aware is illegal. The sheets were filthy with stains all over the furniture and rug, food crumbs on the rug, and there were men smoking crack cocaine right in the room next door with the door open and right outside the room. We were traveling with my father who is a retired New York City police officer who knew exactly what it was. We felt extremely unsafe, uncomfortable, and it was not sanitary to stay in these rooms. I travel for work for a living and stay in hotels 6 months out of the year and I have never in my life checked right out of a hotel like I did that night. We took our bags and headed right to the front desk within minutes of seeing the rooms. The girl Rebecca was so upset at the condition of the rooms that she was actually in tears and agreed to refund us even though it was a non-refundable policy. This was not a cancellation, but a refusal of an absolutely disgusting and unsafe property. We stayed a few minutes away at a Hampton Inn instead that night. The girl at the front desk Rebecca did indeed refund me right after that weekend and I was shocked to see that we were charged again in July. I thought we were done with this nightmare. We have since been credited the three charges of $129.25 for my three rooms by American Express but the Econo Lodge Cortland refuses to accept responsibility, so it is only a provisional credit until the dispute is closed which could take a very long time. We are rightfully due this money after being promised a refund by the employee Rebecca at the desk and also because the rooms were not acceptable or safe to stay in. When I spoke with the manager on the phone recently he was extremely aggressive and kept saying there is a no-refund policy. However, what I kept stressing to him was that the rooms we booked should have been non-smoking, clean, and drug-free. What we got that night was NOT what is advertised online. Even the photos online of the hotel look like they are from a totally different property. He was totally unapologetic and said that the condition of the rooms have nothing to do with a non-refundable policy and that we agreed to no refund when I signed the paper upon check-in. Again, we had no idea what we would walk in to when we went to our rooms, otherwise I never would have signed. I kept explaining that we were promised a refund by Rebecca and actually did receive it before we were re-charged in July for these rooms we did not stay in. He says he knows nothing about Rebecca giving us a refund and that she has since been fired so he cant ask her. I said surely since she was an employee of yours you still have her contact information, but he refused to call her.I honestly would recommend sleeping in your car over staying at this hotel. I hope by writing this I have saved you all of the headache we had to go through. Hopefully we get our money back.
Our room was poorly maintained. The walls were all dented and banged up. Most of the wall plugs did not work. The blanket on my bed was not clean. The bathroom looked clean the the tub itself was yellowing. The free complementary breakfast was nothing more than a cup of cheap coffee and little debbies. Would not recomend staying here there are many other holtel in the area that are nicer.
Not sure what is going on with this hotel, but the deferred maintenance has caught up with it, and the new staff is still learning their jobs. The shower did not work (hard to operate; would not turn off). The TV had no sound. The AC was not up to cooling the room. The person at the desk did not know how to make a key.
All though the stay was to short the hotel is a good one clean and I felt safe while in the room. as continental breakfasts go I have ]seen better but it is continental I think anything over 50$$ a night for a bed for the night is crazy. the rates should be more friendly to the people staying why should we pay car payments for a room you use for 8hrs or less.
We stayed here for three nights so we could visit our sons college and so he could move into his dorm. The room was dated, with older furniture and bedspreads, but it was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed just had a thin, older blanket, once you remove the bedspread, and the pillows were very overstuffed, which are not my preference. The bathroom was a large counter with a sink at the back of the room but the rest of it was a tight squeeze since the tub and the commode are in one small, tight space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There was a small continental breakfast with coffee, bagels, other breads, juice, cereals and fruits. Overall it was ok, so if need be I would stay there again for the price.
Staff is friendly and the rooms are relatively clean with the exception of one of the vents that appear to have been forgotten about. Continental breakfast at the office is limited and no hot foods unless you make yourself a bagel or toast.Cable TV is provided but no guide available so if you want to find a certain channel keep clicking through maybe you will find it.Overall if you are looking for a place to rest that is inexpensive with no fancy extras this is the place for you. Otherwise look into one of the other nearby hotels.
Staff was nice just the rooms should be cleaner and it expensive to have a dog 20 dollars a night and the room had be bugs and it was dirty and every time I asked for towels I had to wait for room service and check out was at 11 and the room service comes later then that.
From the greeting by a friendly, professional desk clerk, our stay in this hotel was pleasurable. Although the bedspread was old fashioned and the carpet worn where it joined the tiled floor of the sink and bathroom section, our room was immaculate, and had all of the amenities we desired. The desk clerks we talked with during our four-night stay offered us dining recommendations as well as suggesting a few local sights and parks we might be interested in experiencing. The location was ideal: several restaurants were located within an easy walk of only a few blocks. Traffic noise was minimal as the hotel is nestled at the fringe of a residential area without any high speed thoroughfares. Our sleep was undisturbed by traffic and others at the hotel were quiet. The purpose of our four day visit to the region was to drive around many of the Finger Lakes, drive to Niagara Falls, and manage to see as much of the area as we could. It was easy to navigate around the Finger Lakes region from Cortland. Returning to our room from our days outing to take a leisurely walk to try out the nearby restaurants was a pleasant close to each day. And waking up to walk over to the lobby for breakfast and have a pleasant chat with the desk attendant was a delightful start of each morning. Wed certainly stay here again should we return to NY.
They staff was rude and unhelpful to my needs as a patron at the Econo lodge. She refused to give me towels when I called for clean ones at 9am the next day. She still refused when I went to the lobby and asked for them in person at 11am. She gave me an attitude when I requested towels. At 12pm still no towels or maid service. I found the house keeping lady and asked for towels and she as well gave me award time and gave me one for me to shower. At 1pm they finally got to my room to clean at this point it was unnecessary. Will NEVER stay there ever again, I will pay the extra money and book another hotel in the area.
Very dirty, bathroom door had holes and there were tiles missing from the bathroom ceiling. Gross stuff on the TV and lights, one lamp broken. I dont think they have ever washed the door in the bathroom. Could not find anybody to give us ash trays because nobody was in the office.
After spending the day with my son and his family, we decided to stay in Cortland for the night rather than make the long drive home. We reserved a room online and arrived sometime after 11PM. We found a friendl and cheerful person at the desk, despite the late hour and were checked-in and asleep within a very short time. We found our room to be clean and comfortable, plenty of hot water for our morning showers, easy checkout. A nice experience overall.
Weve stayed at this hotel before, and thought wed have the same experience this time. We were wrong. We checked in at about 8:30 p.m. and one of our 3 rooms was not ready and needed to be cleaned. This didnt make sense to us since check out is at 11 a.m. Also, there was some sort of fracas or disagreement going on at one end of the hotel between some guests (who seemed to be friends or family of the hotel manager and staff because they knew them by name and were trying to solve the problem while checking us in). This made our group very uncomfortable, and we questioned going to another hotel. Also, one of the TVs in one of our rooms didnt work. It ended up being a quiet night, but this isnt what we expected when we arrived.
The location of this hotel is a plus. You are downtown and walking distance to many restaurants and bars. The room was very spacious and extremely clean and quiet. The host at the desk was always available. He was super friendly and eager to help when he could. Lots of free parking. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking got value for their money.
This hotel is a great little gem, a quick walk to downtown Cortland NY.The staff/family was very nice, making the hotel feel more bed and breakfast then cheap (er) hotel.I did like the breakfast, I do wish there was something hot like waffles, and I was sad to see that there was no water fountain or water bottle for up station and that you had to pay for plastic water bottles.
Great. The staff was kind and friendly. This hotel is in a great location, very close to almost every restaurant you can think of.Room was clean and tidy.Continental Breakfast is very average and we are almost upset. If you stay here skip the continental breakfast, service was excellent.
We have spent many years visiting Cortland and staying at this motel. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. the room is clean but room and bath in need of updating. New person managing the motel this year. Tried hard to accommodate us and our family as they arrived from other states. Motel looked a little tired. The prices for Cortland, NY are quite high, this place included. The Plus is that it is in walking distance to downtown eating establishments and convenient drive to surrounding communities.
This location is nice for an overnight stay, where all you need is a place to lay your head. The WiFi is a joke. They have three options and none of them work with a mobile device. The shower fan was coated with dust, and you could see the thick coating of dust through the fan cover as well. Aside from the gross bathroom, the rest of the room was average. The beds were clean, and overall the room was tidy.
I gives thanks to the hotel manager giving me the room after a long drive and dangeeous weather. I explained my situation and was able to pay for the room. I really respect the morals of the manager he thought of my saftey and with that created bussiness. Im totally greatful and would reccomend it to anyone.
Clean place all around. Quiet night due to it not having truck traffic outside. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.Having breathing problems, I appreciated that no strong smelling products were used to clean the place as I could breathe well all night.Water was hot, the bed comfy, room and bathroom were very clean. Sadly I only stayed one night.
I had a terrible experience at this Econo Lodge. We were in town for work and picked this hotel due to it being walking distance from the main street. The room was ok looking, but the bathroom was super tiny and the bed, while large, felt about as stiff as a piece of wood. They did give ample pillows, I guess to make up for it.I was also very disappointed by the continental breakfast, which composed of some prepackaged bread, muffins, and milk. My coworker was so disgruntled by all of this that he insisted we change hotels after 2 days, saying that Dracula would find this just about as comfortable as his coffin.
We booked this hotel in Feb. 2014 for a stay in May. It was very hard to find a hotel for this time because of all of the graduations. It is the second time we stayed in an Econo Lodge and it will be the last. The person at the front desk is great. She was very friendly. Now for the room itself. It was on the second floor , there are no elevators so it is a little tricky getting luggage up the steps. The room smelled very musty. Every time we took a shower there were ants in the bath room. There were only two towels in the room so I had to go to the office and ask for another one. That is all I got was just one. One of the chairs were broken and I did not know that until I sat in it. I would definitely not recommend this Hotel to anyone. It was higher priced because everything else was booked. We are not very happy that we paid way to much for this place and it was not a good place to stay.
The hotel was clean, but old. The woman at the night desk was very pleasant. The lobby had an unpleasant smell when we checked in. The beds were doubles, not queens in room 111. The breakfast was OK, not great. Good hotel for a quick stay like we did. I am happy that it was clean & the room did not smell.
Staff was helpful and friendly. This is not a hotel, it is a motel. The rooms are in need of serious updating--lighting over sink very poor, sink finish peeling off. Breakfast offerings were as minimal as possible -- adding a variety of fruit and adding yogurt would help. The room was clean and the basics provided. Beds need updating regarding comfort (lumpy and hard). I did notice that I did not hear anything from the adjoining rooms--a plus, and I presume this is because it is an older building and probably had thicker/plaster walls, not drywall.
Very bad experience! Room was dirty. Found used bottle of soda and pieces of candy on the floor. Hair on 2 walls of shower before using. Heater made clunking noise all night long. Beds/mattresses very uncomfortable. Price for room was outrageous!! Very disappointed in stay. Staff were notified about our dissatisfaction in the room.
I went out to Cortland for a weekend getaway from what was a very busy year of coaching basketball and softball. The room was very clean and the woman at the front desk was very helpful. She was very pleasant and warned me that the City Police have been cracking down on people out there for fun. The only problem is the WiFi. If there arent many people staying there, it is ok, but when there is a lot, the WiFi is hit or miss. They might want to look into getting a signal booster for it. Other than that, my stay was excellent. I make a few trips to Cortland every year #yes, I still migrate out there for Cortaca# and every time I am there they are very accommodating.
This is a really great 2-star hotel! Its got all the room amenities; fridge, microwave, coffee maker, WiFi, safe, iron/board etc... It also has that wonderful room layout where the bathrrom/shower are separate from the toilet/shower so if youre on a work trip someone can be brushing their teeth and washing their face while the other showers. Check-in was simple and straightforward. Zero complaints. And this place is just steps from restaurants and bars.
The hotel was not what i had expected. Room had an odor. Old food in the fridge. The tub was all chipped. I wore my sandals in the shower. The heating and AC didnt work properly. They said they offer a Continental breakfastBut all it was, was bagels, bread, cereal and a honey bun. Someone was being cheap. It was disappointing for what i paid. I had to go buy breakfast for my kids bc of the poor selection. Shouldnt have a Continental breakfast if thats not what u are going to provide
This hotel was dirty, smelled and tiny. The staff was friendly. They offered a continental breakfast but we are late risers (9am) and every time I went in for coffee it was already over (10am). The only reason we stayed was because it was parents weekend and all the other hotels were booked. I asked for another room but was told they were sold out. STAY AWAY.
This hotel is a great value for the money, Many rooms conveniently set up to back your vehicle right up to the door, wifi worked great, staff was very friendly. This location is very close to many bars/restaurants. Makes it easy to be responsible if you desire a few adult beverages while with your meal.
Condescending male front desk personnel treated women checking in with disdain. Front desk person kept voiding door keys forcing us to come to the office every time we tried to enter our room. Processed our credit card twice forcing the helpful female clerk to ensure we were only charged once for our stay. Initial front desk person kept demanding a copy of our drivers license after presenting it at check in. Go somewhere else
We booked a room at the Cortland Econolodge while visiting family. It was very clean, comfortable and convenient - also very reasonably priced. It is very close to a number of downtown Cortland restaurants and other attractions. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is a bit older than other hotels at which we stayed, but this did not affect the comfort of our stay.
Room was perfectly adequate, reasonably clean. Could hear voices thru the walls so not very soundproof. In the lobby I did hear one man complain at the front desk that there were 4 in his room and only one towel. Then someone else complained that they hadnt replaced his coffee pod. I didnt even have a coffee maker and nor did my daughter in the room next door! We did have a microwave and fridge. At 3 am I was awakened by a woman a few doors down screaming at the manager whom she had called up to her room for something. They stood in her doorway (I assume) yelling at each other, loudly, for at least 5 minutes. That, I thought, was uncalled for & very thoughtless on both their parts. However, she will never stay there again!
Thanks to your pet policy, this was our first time traveling with our dog. The hotel required it be a smoking room, since we had the dog. The room, to my surprise, didnt appear to be a smoking room. The room lacked that thick cloying heavyness of the air. It had an ashtray, long time no see.Everyone had a great time. Thank you for the memories.
While the staff was very responsive and helpful, this hotel experience was poor. The lobby smelled badly (musty) as did the room. The general condition of the hotel was bad. It appeared that it was from the 1960s without any updates or maintenance. The wireless Internet connection was useless. The complimentary breakfast was very unappealing and I chose not to partake.I would not stay here again and would not likely choose EconoLodge again based on this experience.
Inexpensive. Older refurbished hotel with slightly larger rooms. Comfortable bedding. Room has refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom sink located separate from shower and toilet. Clean. Basic continental breakfast complimentary. Best feature for us is that hotel is located in downtown of Cortland.
We have stayed a number of times at the EconoLodge in Cortland, NY. Its a great value for the money, and is conveniently located in downtown Cortland, within walking distance of a number of terrific restaurants and activities. Its clean and comfortable, and we have always had great service and interactions with the staff at the motel. I highly recommend it!
We come to Cortland regularly and normally stay at a different property, but this time were put off by its rate which was almost twice that of Econolodge. We found it clean, comfortable and conveniently located with a warm and welcoming staff. It was nice to be able to walk over to Main Street for an afternoon drink, etc.
Awful awful awful. Whoever wrote good reviews must be employees. This has to be the absolute most disgusting room I ever stayed in. I have pictures and I wish I can post them here cause the filthy moldy bathroom with rotted drop ceilings...a light fixture with an inch thick dirt on it.....soiled toilet seat......a left over dirty hand cloth used by previous person.....dirt on floor and dont let me forget the stench of old musty dirty stale air. I felt like I was in an old smokey bar. Huge hole in the wall. Shall I go on? I thought a choice hotel would be decent to stay in. Im so so so disgusted right now Im contemplating going to sleep in my car. Never ever again. Shame on choice hotel for allowing this. Oh I actually found out how to post pictures. I will try now. Ok I dont think the pics went on here but check trip advisor. I put them on there. DONT STAY HERE. Just a warning.
Its difficult to find hotels that will allow folks with dogs to spend the night! These folks were very accommodating and friendly! Easy in and easy out, no muss no fuss...Perfect! The room was a little worn but was expected due to the dog friendly confines! Very nice stay though!
I had a pleasant experience at the Cortland Econo Lodge. The check-in process was quick. The staff was very helpful and courteous. This is the second time I had stayed here and was completely satisfied. I had asked to be placed away from a noisy group and was accommodated, no questions asked.
This is a MOTEL, in every way, as opposed to a hotel. Outside entrance to each room and pets are allowed which was why we stayed. Downside is motel is isolated in questionable neighborhood and I didnt feel as safe as I would have in the hotel area of town. Room was clean and had fridge and microwave.
Bed bugs, my son and i woke up with bites all over us! They also took advantage of a busy day and jacked the price up to over $100, the desk clerk kept apologizing about it. We got stuck with a very gross smoking room that stunk very bad and was dirty, didnt even have fitted sheets on the beds. Im warning everyone i know to not stay here.
I wasnt expecting much from this hotel for the price that I paid and somehow it managed to be worse than I expected. The linens were old and dingy and smelly. My son walked on the floor and the bottom of his feet turned BLACK. We slept on top of the blankets and checked out first thing in the morning. We booked it because it was close to our destination. Next time I will spend more morning even for a hotel farther out. This place was DIRTY!
Econo Lodge was the only place in town with any rooms left. Econo Lodge is not our first choice in hotels. Weve tried this brand in the past and had some issues but this hotel was different. The room was very clean. The staff was pleasant. It was walking distance from food and drinks. Internet worked very well. We would stay here again!
My daughter and I took a bus to Cortland so we needed to stay someplace central. The bus stop is two-tenths of a mile from the hotel and Main Street is just a block away. The college was just a short - though steep - walk. The family that owns the hotel is very friendly and welcoming.
Out dated hotel in the center of Cortland. I loved the location able to walk to Redjug & other night life establishments! Rooms was clean. If you do not plan to spend slot of time in your room. I recommend this hotel. It’s the best located hotel in Cortland for night life!
Was unhappy and disappointed in my experience. Did not have my room ready for check in. Room smelled like smoke and I asked for non smoking did not accommodate me with an early check in and denied me a late check out. I visit at least twice a year and never had a bad experience up until now. I like the fact thats its close to downtown but I will be considering another hotel because this experience was awful.
Had reservations for 8/11 and 8/12. Called and advised we would only be staying one night 8/12. When we arrived we were charged for 2 nights and that cancellation policy wad 2pm 48 hrs prior. We have been staying here for the truck show for over 10 years and this is the way we were treated. We will no longer stay here, we will find other accommodations
I have been staying at this hotel everytime I visit Cortland. The staff has been friendly and very accommodating. Everytime I report something with the room (usually a blown light bulb), the staff has been quick to fix it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cortland.
One thing I must say on any hotel you stay at is the Front Desk Clerk is the one who you need to give credit to for Making A Difference on whether you are going to have a pleasant stay at the hotel or not. The attitude of the front desk clerk means a lot in the evaluation of the hotel experience. If he or she does not have the right attitude of being friendly and willing to help, as a guest, you will not be happy. Our experience was the opposite at this Econo Lodge because we had an Excellent, Outstanding Front Desk Clerk who was very friendly and helpful as I pointed out in my review. When you ask questions like: Does the room have a coffee maker? or Does the room have an ironing board? and the Front Desk Clerk says no but I will make you fresh coffee right now and I have an iron and ironing board right here you can take to your room...that is Making A Difference!
Cortland Econo Lodge is a bargain for sure. A good quality hotel in a great location -- and at an even greater price. The check-in was particularly smooth because of the advance registration -- and the overt friendliness of the Check-In staff. Altogether very smooth and pleasant
Hey, I dont stop at econolodge expecting the ritz. Its convenient to downtown. The clerk, an Asian, was cheerful and friendly. I was subjected to some minor inconvenience over not having a credit card. The heater worked well. The cable tv had a decent (but not great) lineup.
Attention all Cortland college alumni and visitors.... you would be well served to stay at the Econolodge on Church Street in Cortland. This well-run, very clean and economical hotel is within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars of downtown Cortland and an easy ride or walk up the hill to the campus. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Stay here if you are visiting campus and want to be able to walk about the downtown college scene!
We always stay at the Econolodge in downtown Cortland when traveling here to visit family. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is always very helpful, and the location is great, as you can walk to the main street in Cortland and find plenty of restaurants and services nearby. Its also priced right. We recommend the Econolodge Cortland if you are staying for business or pleasure.
This EconoLodge is the best place to stay in Cortland!!! The staff are amazing. Very friendly couple that go out of their way to please their guests. We have stayed a few different times now, and will continue to stop over on our way back and forth between Toronto and NYC. Highly recommend to everyone.
Whatever you do, DO NOT book a stay here or at any other Choice Hotel/Motel! (The parent company to Econo Lodge)Last month I booked a stay at the Econo Lodge in Cortland, NY for this weekend. Although they gave me a confirmation number I called to confirm this morning, since I had not received a confirmation via email --as they promised. It turns out they booked the wrong weekend and all they could offer me was a double bed, smoking room for $55 MORE. Yes, $55 more than the king bed, non-smoking room because this is a high traffic weekend.I spent 30 minutes being called a liar and a game player by the woman who took my reservation and another hour on hold and speaking with client services at the corporate office. Despite their inability to produce the confirmation email they claim to have sent (which would have proven their error in booking the wrong weekend), they said theres nothing they can do.So, I am making good on my promise to them --to warn others of their incompetence and shameful customer service.
The staff at the EconoLodge in Cortland, NY never ceases to amaze me. They continue to live up to the expectation I have formed over my many years of visiting and every time I stay they treat me like an old friend. They also give me the same room every time because they want me to feel like I am at home when I stay. I can not say enough good things about this hotel!
Stayed 2 nites! Had never been bitten by bed bugs until my stay there! Itchy burny hell! I didnt know it was bites untill my home town doctor let me know after i returned home and went to get checked out cause i was itching my self raw!! Be wise and do not stay here! If you have to seal cloths in bags that can seal off completly
Ide give it zero stars if I could rude staff smelly of moth balls came home with bug bites all over no breakfast. Dont stay here!!!!! Disgusting!!! Then refused any type of compensation because we stayed. How the hell was I supposed to know ide get are up by bugs before I stayed? Ignorant people!!!
I chose this Econo-lodge due to its proximity to my work. Between the stiff, unforgiving bed, unusable Internet connection and questionable bathroom cleanliness I wish I thoroughly checked my options before going with this hotel. If the price was $30 cheaper Id be a little more forgiving.
When traveling to the Cortland area, we ALWAYS stay at EconoLodge in Cortland. It is convenient to many local restaurants , Cortland State University as well as walking distance to lovely Courthouse Park. The owners and staff always greet us with smiles and are prompt at responding to requests. After many years coming here, it is like coming home to stay with friends. The owners have upgraded their rooms since last year and are in the process of doing even more to the property. We look forward to our next visit.
BEWARE RESERVING ON-LINE, YOU WILL PAY FOR A MISTAKE! I was searching a number of websites to find a room, and found a good price at Econo Lodge, which I booked through the Choice Hotels site. Somehow, the date I wanted in Aug repopulated with todays date , and I didnt catch it. Once the reservation went through, I saw the incorrect dates on the confirmation page and called Choice immediately to alert them that a mistake occurred. Unfortunately for me, the paying customer, they cant cancel the reservation since their policy requires 48hrs notice - but the reservation was mistakenly made today, for today. Not surprisingly, the price jumped $30 to book for the date I wanted. I asked for a Choice Manager, and was on hold for over 15 mins. I hung up, tired of waiting. No Manger available at Choice? I have to wonder how many other customers are dissatisfied that ties up a Manager for so long. I contacted Econo Lodge directly, and was told the same thing, it was less than 48 hrs since I made the reservation, so the couldnt cancel completely. And no manager on duty to help resolve. Econo Lodge told me to contact Choice, and Choice told me to contact Econo Lodge. Econo Lodge did offer to cancel the reservation, but I will be charged a $20 fee. So I am out $20 and will book a room at another chain. And interestingly, I HAD to give them at least 1 star in order to have the option to POST my review.

2022-06-25I asked room service for towels and she looked at me like i had 3 heads and then said you’re checking out today . i then told her no i’m checking out tomorrow. i asked her maybe 4 times for towels and never got any. then the next morning i ran out of toilet paper due to the fact that she wasn’t in our room so i went to the front desk and he basically pushed me off. as i was going back to my room i ran into the lady and said can i have towels and she said what’s you’re room number i told her and she said oh you’re still here. it’s a decent hotel but i don’t recommend because of the service.

2022-02-12If i could give this 0 stars i would. This place was beyond grimy! We stopped on our way back home because we were stuck in a snow storm. My husband had to shovel a spot out for our car bc they couldnt be bothered to do snow removal. They charged me 101.00 when the listed price was $59 then charged another $50 and then ANOTHER $20. The manager/ owner was incredibly rude and argumenative with me when i asked for a ground floor room bc i didnt want to carry 4 kids and all of our stuff up the stairs. We finally opened the room and there was an incredibly dangerous looking space heater in it, it smelled like mold and was dirty. We both looked at eachother and said nvm. We went back for our money back again manager was rude told us to just go (with no proof of refund) i refused. It took two weeks for any refund to come and they still kept the pet fee even tho my Dog never went in the room and we walked into it and walked out. So i paid $20 dollars to be belittle grossed out and for my husband to shovel their parkinglot! No one that isnt on dope would every be able to stay here comfortably. This is a sketchy and dirty motel that wasnt even worth the $50 online price let alone the $170 they actually charge!

2022-05-04The hotel is very conveniently located, however it is very run down. The staff seem bothered by the customers. The bed is comfortable-but bring your own pillow. The rooms are very outdated and could use a good scrubbing.

2022-03-28Positive: No shortage of parking, because no one who has a car would stay there if one could sleep in there car. Negative: The place is nasty, unclean cold shower,i got bit by something wicked. People talked for hours outside my door, it smelled, some weirdo stood in the parking lot staring at my room, the door is paper thin and flimsy, the towels had holes in them. No stars

2022-02-25The hotel room was not cleaned well. The bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The bed was very springy and uncomfortable. House keeping tried to come into our room twice unannounced and not asked for. If the top boot lock had not been done they would have walked in on us changing. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

2022-03-05Disgusting, not cleaned bathroom. Also didn’t know a DIRTY wife-beater tank top would be included with our stay. :) walls were covered in dirt, and vents were FULL of dust and dirt.

2022-05-20The rooms were filthy. The floors dirty. There were people going into rooms all night long, staying only minutes. Undoubtedly a drug house. Will make attempts to contact the NY State Department of Health.

2022-03-22Was very aggressively forced out of my room by housekeeping as they barged in at 11:02am as I kept trying to tell them I overslept, was packing, and would be out in 2 minutes. Very bizarre behavior that should be reported. Luckily I was dressed, but it was an invasion of privacy.
