Extremely dirty room. It looked like room had not been cleaned in months. Trash, pill bottles and old shoes under the beds. Carpet dirty and not vacuum. Food smeared on walls. Hair on bathtub and sink. It was 10pm and when asked for a different room i was advised hotel was fully booked. Employee from front desk came to take pictures and left providing no solution. No hotels ls in the area had availability due to being labor day weekend. I had cleaning supplies so I had to clean and sanitize the room myself.
As soon as we walked into lobby we were welcomed with cigarette smoke smell. Upon opening my room door once again was greeted with a cigarette smell again. This time AC unit was broken and room was so hot. I went down to tell Front Desk agent about broken AC unit but was told since they were in sold out situation we had to stay in the room and there was nothing she can do. I advised them my son had an asthma and can not stay in a hot room with a non functioning AC unit and was told the open the windows. I could not believe this was the response I’d received from Front Desk agent. I told them I am going to cancel the room if room with a working AC unit was provided and I was told that’s too bad since it’s non refundable rate and my money was taken out already. I couldn’t believe I was given a such treatment. Unfortunately since Ithaca area was completely sold out and we could’t find the room anywhere my son and I decided to sleep in our car while my wife and my daughter stayed in the room. My wife came down with a severe headache due to terrible cigarette stench and both my daughter were bit by some kind of bugs overnight. We had additional nights for stay at this dump but we decides to leave and stay elsewhere for next two nights. I advised Front Desk we were checking out and will not stay rest of bookings but their response was once again the room rate is non refundable so they are keeping the money. I can not believe I had to pay $280 for this crappy place.
Staff was nice. Towels were decent. Coffee was good enough. On the the bad. Smoke smell in hallway, damp room, tv only streamed and needed network connection setup each power on, bathroom door wouldn’t latch. This is a 60-70 per night hotel that can charge 200+ because it’s really close to to a Cornell. Really close.
I wish I had a better experience. The only reason I gave this two stars was because it is in a great area which is close to everything . Our room was not clean at all. Honestly looked like they rushed through cleaning . Our sheets had some stains on it and they were kind enough to bring us new ones . The towels looked used and stained and the bathroom looked like it needed renovation . We only stayed a night but even then our stay wasn’t the greatest.
Staff were very friendly. Non smoking room was clean and the hallway was quiet. Near a couple of malls so convenient if you need something. Would have given it 4 stars except for the price (over $200 a night) and the carpeting going up the stairs from the lobby was filthy (not a good first impression). Wifi was good.
Hotel is in parking lot of a partly empty shopping center. Felt a bit uncomfortable with the area, but know nothing about Ithaca.Stairwell carpet was filthy, but hallways clean. Room was nice with laminate wood floors and clean. Shower curtain was gross and needed washing. Bed comfortable, but mattress pad didnt fit and bunched up during night.Breakfast was surprisingly good with lots of selection and coffee station was great with hot or cold coffee and coffee mate flavored creamer.
It was very expensive $185 plus tax ! We are still in pandemic and the cases are surging but this is the first hotel I came across which does not believe in cleaning. Its more then 30 year old building so its grandfathered by law so no elevator yet suitable for Ada since the have ground floor rooms. Nonsmoking floors have stone smell of smoking! And the Stair case from every entry is so filthy that by climbing on that and going to your room ,you need a shower. rooms are slightly decent then the outside. I had to book this hotel because I could not find anything since Cornell has opening week for students, we also found out last minute that we need to go Ithaca during that week. but do avoid this hotel in anywise. For Some reason I cant upload the video and I could not record a lot because the manager was right there.
We were here with a group of 21 Spyder riders. The entire staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Mandy was amazing taking care of all of us at breakfast, even making me bacon on a sausage day :-). Im sure the hotel will never be the same since we have been there with our late night game nights in the breakfast area. Our room was clean and comfortable all except for the mini toilets...I think that was everyone in our groups only complaint they are very low to the ground. But other than that (and the weather), we would definitely stay there again!
Worst experience of our lives in a hotel. Carpeting looks like it’s 30 years old in the hotel as did the a/c unit in our room. Do not believe the pics on their site. There are designated smoking/ non smoking rooms but the entire hotel smells of smoke. Attempted several times, at least 3 to reach management, no return phone call, text or email. Not only do they bait and switch but they do respond to their guests either. Could go on and on but you get the picture
Disgusting. Truly disgusting. I stayed here 10 years ago, it was perfectly fine. I was shocked an appalled by the condition of the room. Roches in the bathroom, the room had not been cleaned, the air conditioning unit was completely disassembled and on the floor. What a disaster. We left 10 minutes into our stay and found an acceptable hotel.
ROACHES ROACHES ROACHES!!! The only thing pleasant about this place was the desk clerk Faith. I came for a 2 day stay and ended up sleeping in my car on the first night and leaving the next day. I found multiple roaches all over the room, and when I walked on the carpet I could feel my socks sticking to the floor. I understand it’s a convenient location next to a college town but for $170.00 a night I would expect a bit more effort put into cleanliness. I would also expect better compensation for what was the most expensive nights sleep in my OWN car!!!
Positive: Price until we experienced it. A major rip-off for a room that was surely illegal. We should be given a refund. Negative: Inoperable air conditioner was wrecked, missing buttons. Have photos. Requested No smoking, got smoking which reeked. Burns in bedspread, cockroaches in bathroom. Only chair a folding one. No desk. Filthy stair carpet. Unpleasant manager.
This place is a complete wreck. The room was unfit for humans to occupy, as it was midsummer in the high 80s outside and the air conditioner didnt work. The room itself was well over 100 degrees. The staff was aware of the problem, yet allowed the room to be rented out. It should have been shut down. Despite our only being their long enough to see how wretched it was, they refused to refund our money as we had been there too long. Avoid this place, sleep in your car in the parking lot if you have to. Beats wasting money on this disaster.
The jacuzzi room is nice, the tub is deep for 2 larger people. A great place to relax and soak in a bubble bath. My complaint are the Hallways smell like cigarettes and there are some very questionable suspicious people staying here. I wish I could have smoked In my room for $125 a night. The floors in the room are not carpeted so slipping and falling was somthing you definitely needed to watch out for. I should have brought slides.I asked for extra towels and I was told there was enough in my room 😒.
Positive: Breakfast was ok and looked safe. Negative: Blackmold in tub and dirty, smoke smell bad soaps, ants all over in room, hard uncomfortable beds, blankets had cigaret burns in them, toilet didn¿t flush always, was run down and worn down needs a full remodel inside and out. Price should have been --
The building was not secure to the outside at all. We walked right in a side door from the parking lot. No room key swipe or anything. The room itself barely latched/locked and there was a 1-2 inch gap all the way around the door, especially at the bottom. We could see right out into the hallway. The carpet looked like it hadnt been vacuumed with lots of loose debris on the floors. The carpet was also heavily stained. I slept fully clothed, covered head to toe because I didnt trust the cleanliness of the sheets. I also didnt shower because I didnt trust the cleanliness of the shower or towels. The towels were very stained. They were white towels...bleach them! The hand towel I dried my face with after washing it had a pube stuck in it. GROSS! Unfortunately everything else in the area was sold out. We literally could not find another place to stay or we would have left. Pretty close to, if not, the worst hotel Ive ever stay at.
We checked in only to find they had no elevator. 70 years old n the steps was not what I expected. The room was dark. The toilet looks like it was never cleaned. The toilet seat bols were all loose. The sink had a used soap in it..the top blanket was stained n z mess. We stayed 5 min n i called a hotel 3 hours away. I told the person at the desk about the problems n that they should be ashamed to rent that room. N we left
This place has spacious rooms and the room I stayed in was very nice. There was a little confusion with my booking the night prior though, and even though I had booked my room...the room was not available when I got all the way there to stay the night. Unfortunately, I was pretty much forced into finding another hotel for the night which was much pricier and a big inconvenience at the time because of the last minute hassle of it all. Other than that hiccup, when I finally did stay here, everything was up to par. Just beware the booking of this Econo Lodge, I did learn a lesson on this one!
Positive: We cancelled so cant answer this. Negative: We cancelled our stay because advertising said there was a pool and there wasnt. We changed to a sister hotel We were told by hotel employee that we would get our money back and we havent. Very upset to just get lip service.
We had stayed at the Econo Lodge In Ithaca when dropping off and picking up our children in college, and it had been fine. This trip, the bathroom was in disrepair. The toilet didn’t flush, the sink didn’t drain and the paint on the toilet seat was almost entirely peeled.
This hotel is currently housing (semi-permanently) homeless people. They have a smoking section (unbelievable, 21st century - reeked of cigarettes), which they tried to put me in, although I am pregnant. Permanent residents were cooking in their rooms, so the hallways smelled terribly of microwaved food. Hotel is located in the middle of a parking lot within a mall complex - no sign on the exterior, overgrown grass surrounding it - it was an utter nightmare.
I stayed at the Econo Lodge while they were redoing the keys. Not a big problem, just had to be let into my room each time. I stayed on the 2nd floor which was very quiet. The clerk was very considerate for putting me there without me having to ask. I guess she figured since I was traveling alone, I would like the quiet. I slept well and liked that the flooring in the room was laminate instead of carpet. Nice and clean!
The stay was awful. I went home exhausted. The air didnt work, the rugs were filthy, the towels and sheets were stained. It was so hot and opening the window did not help, the conversation outside our window ( by hotel employee) lasted way past midnight. Phone was broken.
>Roaches ,broken furniture ,Should be able to haggle your rate on an overnight stay ,Roaches ,Asked for an ice bucket ( dont have them anymore )Alright coffee ,Ample parking ,Motel art was some of the best exercise in how not to wonder why you were here ,The rug in the hallway gave me the creeps the staff cleaned it well but it never looks as it wasOnly one blanket , no second blanket if you request one ,Not enough light bulbs ,had to buy it my self ,Staff is friendly and professional ,Roaches ,No liquor store close by( you need some to cope with the Roaches )In the middle of a desolate parking lot with a defunct Pizza HutRoachesI slept ,needed NyQuilLess than 1 star if possible
Simple room set-up. Slight lack of available plugs for electronics and whatnot, but thats not such a big deal for me. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. No strange smells or anything. Bathroom felt cramped and the door didnt latch, but I was staying alone, so also not a big deal for me. A lot of channels on TV, which was nice. Staff has a good knowledge of local places to eat. I wanted Pizza when I was there, and the lady at the front desk gave me directions to a local Pizza place that also had a microbrewery. Excellent! Breakfast was average, as expected at every hotel I stay at. Easy to check in/out. Overall, a good experience!
No breakfast. They charged $190+ labor day weekend for a very low grade room. You guys need new bedding sheets. New pillows. New bathrooms. Dont believe the pictures are outdated and enhanced. AC didnt worked. Renovate. Reinvest or pivot. Very unfortunate experiencie just to be close to hiking trails.
Booked this hotel through Expedia for Labor Day weekend as it seemed to have good reviews and was on the cheaper side. I booked it a week in advance and got the confirmation once I booked and chose the option to pay upon arrival. They needed a card number on file to hold the booking and since I have an account with Expedia, my card info was already saved so I continued with the booking. Fast forward to Labor Day weekend, I drove up 5 hrs and when I got to Ithaca I decided to call the hotel to see if we can check in early. The lady I spoke with at the front desk asked for my information and then told me that THEY DIDNT HAVE A ROOM FOR ME BC MY CARD WAS DECLINED. I asked when they ran it and why it was declined and she wasn’t able to give me an answer. I explained to her that I’m not sure why it declined because the card number was correct when I booked it but even so, why wasn’t I contacted? I received no email, no phone call, NOTHING to let me know that my payment was declined therefore the booking was cancelled. I asked her if they normally contact their customers when their cards decline to let them know and figure out why and her response was “I’m not really sure”. So I asked to speak to a manager and she apparently was not in at that moment so I asked when she will be in and she again responded with “I’m not sure”. I then asked if I can reserve a room and she said they were completely booked. I was extremely disappointed. Now this isn’t my first booking. I understand some hotels run the card on file with a small fee to make sure it’s a valid form of payment but they weren’t able to tell me why it was even declined. Not only that, they didn’t feel the need to contact me to let me know my booking was cancelled. And when I called Expedia to discuss the issue, THEY weren’t even informed that it was cancelled! I found that very unprofessional and the fact that they weren’t accommodating about it at all left a bad taste in my mouth. ESPECIALLY during a holiday weekend!
This hotel is cat-fishing you. I booked this room through Hotels.com and was shown pictures of a “deluxe queen room” with 2 beds. Showed up with only 1 bed that looked like the K-mart version of the pictures. Unless you want to play a game of ‘what is this stain from’ do not stay here. There were stains all over the sheets, towels, mattress, chairs, walls, and shower curtain. There was no second guessing what the pubic hairs in the shower were though. Not convinced yet? We paid for a non-smoking room but it reeked of moldy cigs. To top it off, the door looked as if it had been forcefully kicked in from the outside and was bent and the wood was broken. We didn’t even spend 1 of our 3 nights here and immediately left. We were also told we “probably wouldn’t get a refund” even though we didn’t use the room at all. If you even made it this far, run far from this hotel.
My family drove to New York to visit Ithaca College and Syracuse University. We got into Ithaca around 3:00 a.m. and checked out local hotel reviews with our cell phones. Since we only needed a room to get about 4 hours of sleep and shower, the cost of the room was a factor. Based on some reviews we read, we decided Econolodge located on Triphammer Road in Ithaca sounded good. From the time of our phone call to check on availability until check out, my wife and I were very satisfied. At 3:00 a.m., Katrina, the desk clerk was just great. Although I did not ask, she took extra time to find us a discounted room rate since we were only going to be there for only a few hours. She saved us about $40.00. The room, non-smoking, was very clean. The beds had very soft comforters on them and the pillows were a little hard hard for me, but not for my wife, daughter and son. The bathroom was clean with NO signs of mildew or mold in or around the shower.I also want to give props to Arti. She set up the Continental Breakfast Bar and was extremely helpful and nice.Overall, the hotel provided my family a nice, clean room at an affordable price.Stayed August 2015, traveled with family
We arrived to a very clean, well kept facility and greeted by Amanda, who was very courteous. As a choice member, we received complimentary drinks and snacks. The room was very clean and comfy. However, there was no hot water. It was warm. I informed Amanda and she offered to change our room. We declined at the time and said wed check when we came back. We were just heading out and came back very late. Water was hotter, but not hot. Still in morning not hot. It was hot enough for a quick shower. They agreed to give us a $15 credit on our bill, which was very nice of them.No the place was not perfect, but due to their great hospitality and service, I am still giving them an excellent rating.
We stopped here to check out the town of Ithaca because we are moving there later next month. It was a nice hotel with adequate facilities for a couple days. The room was clean and it was great to have a micro-fridge as we were day tripping and needed to keep some food and waters cool. Bed was VERY comfortable after the long drive from NC and had a nice big TV. Would have helped to have night stands on both sides of the bed instead of just one. I had to pull a chair over to my side of the bed to store my wallet, keys, etc. Bathroom was good and carpet was nice. Got the feel that this is just a nice hotel. Families, some work crews, college students, and travelers were who we saw at breakfast. And I must add the breakfast is wonderful! We chose Econo Lodge because everywhere else in Ithaca CHARGES you for breakfast which is ridiculous when you look at their room fees. We loved the complimentary breakfast and it was a decent breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. (not just bagels or cereal, although they had those too!) All in all a good place to spend a couple days. We will recommend this to family who are coming to stay with us in Ithaca as its also right around the corner from our apartment.
I’ve been staying at this hotel for years. The rates were one of the best in town, and while the rooms were simple, they were clean. Employees were always friendly. But, at this recent stay the hotel had many many homeless people staying there. Apparently Social Services rents rooms for them on a temporary basis. Every time I left my room, and I do mean every time, there were homeless around the property, using the computer, in the coffee area, socializing in their room with the door open. While I’m glad these individuals have a place to sleep, it’s not an environment I would choose for my vacation. After so many years staying at this hotel I will not return. I can no longer recommend this hotel.
Our stay at the Econolodge was fine. We were greeted by Tabby who was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. I appreciate that the floors were not carpeted. My only beef was that the hotel was off the road and in back of some buildings so I almost missed it when we arrived. It was nighttime and dark. It would probably be more visible in daylight.
Dont stay there, and if you do, be prepared to demand to change rooms if the room they give you smells.A few few family members and I planned on staying there a couple nights. Some family members had rooms that werent smelly and they seemed perfectly happy with this hotel. However, my room and my sisters room were horribly smelly - it caused a fairly severe allergy attack. My sister changed rooms and was reasonably happy with her new room. My husband, baby, and I moved to the Holiday Inn (which isnt that much more expensive), where we were very happy. The staff was nice, but we were still charged for the full night, even though we checked out within 30 minutes of checking in.
Not bad rooms fairly decent however the price is ridiculou6ys so I suggest hunting online for a discounted rate thru a 3rd party. Smoking rooms was a plus. No signs telling me where the laundry room was so I had to hunt for that. And I came thinking we would get breakfast as well but upon arrival I learned that choice hotels is not offering breakfast & i feel like they should fix that online in the hotel description. Blankets had holes all in them. And the washing machine stopped working while it was washing my clothes & they were soaking wet but the staff paid for me to finish washing them so that was nice. They were very friendly all that I encountered.
Do not recommend. Stayed for two nights, upon entering it smelled like a port-a-potty. Terrible smell. Staff was okay very blah. Our room was not too bad for the most part had all the essentials. It looked clean but did not feel clean. But what we kept noticing was the very odd people loitering all over the lobby and front. There were only four vehicles in the parking lot but there were so many people in the lobby area. They seemed to be on some sort of substance, and this was all day for the two days we stayed. Spoke to a local and came to find out the hotel has section 8 housing in the actual hotel. So while guests are paying over 100$ to stay in the stink filled hotel there are many drug users loitering the lobby and it just makes the stay uncomfortable. Do not recommend.
I was skeptical about booking the hotel room here. It was much less expensive than other hotels in the area. We were so pleased with the suite that we had. It was very spacious, bed was comfy, there was a reading nook in a common area, breakfast was good and well stocked- I liked the pancake maker machine. This was very accessible to the places that we needed to go to in Ithica. We would definitely stay here again.
This isnt the best hotel in the world. I wasnt expecting it to be that great but I thought it could have been better. The rooms could have been more cleaner but the manager was really nice and so was the rest of the staff. This place could use some more renovating. Also the smoke free rooms smelled really bad so they can improve on that and also the breakfast was pretty good. The place isnt in a bad location but this place just didnt meet our familys expectations.
I arrived at approximately 11pm, and a woman was already at the desk being checked in ahead of me. She was griping to the staff member that there was no elevator and she would have to haul her luggage upstairs. After her business was concluded, I was checked in without a hitch in about 2 minutes flat. I brought my bag upstairs and walked through the hallway in search of my room. The hallway smelled of smoke and I was a bit dismayed at that, but I continued on until I got to my room. The room was an average room for a budget hotel. It had a flat screen TV, a fridge, and WiFi which I never used. It was clean, thankfully, and didnt smell like smoke. My only issues were minor ones. The bed could have been more comfortable, but it didnt cause me pain so I was thankful for that. And the bathroom, the shower curtain should have been curved. The shower curtain got wet during my shower and unbeknownst to me, was drenching the floor. The curtain, after having gotten wet, smelled distinctly of urine which grossed me out. The towels smelled like bleach, which was appreciated, as I put them on the floor to mop up the mess that had been created. Otherwise, it was a relatively ok stay. I would stay again and would just remember to bring gloves to touch the shower curtain.
We arrived late in the afternoon after driving from New York and an international flight from Australia the previous day so it was nice to be greeted by a lovely receptionist that was very helpful and also told us about an excellent place for dinner which was great. The room wasnt flash but it was warm and clean and the beds were comfy....only issue which is small was the breakfast has no gluten free options....but my hubby and kids were fine and they had enough breakfast options. Great Value for money
My stay met all of my requirements and at a value that fit my budget. The room was clean. The heat worked. The shower warmed quickly. I was greeted upon entering with a professional approach by the staff.Breakfast is a bit beyond my normal (early) departure, but for the price of the room, it seems acceptable. I could not find a coffee lid that allowed for drinking with the lid on.
This hotel was very nice. The staff was AMAZING. Faith at front desk was amazing at check in and check out! Amanda was in the office when I was checking in and out and we joked as well! And breakfast could not have been better! So many choices! Mandy did a great job! This is what I like to see when I stay at a hotel.. Ill deffinatly be back!
Very clean and comfortable. Nice touch having all the books and magazines for guests, including lots for kids. Front desk staff efficient and very helpful. Housekeeping staff also very courteous and accommodating. Thanks so much for your great hospitality and excellent value for money. Well be back!
While this is an economy hotel, service was good, rooms clean and quiet and furnishings (beds and pillows) were better than much higher end hotels in the area that I have stayed at in the past. Good quality for your money. Only drawback was running out of food at least an hour before breakfast was supposed to end. The pancake maker was great!
I would DEFINITELY stay again. It is a no frills hotel but big on service, clean, with a well stocked breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. The hallways are a bit old looking but other than that its a good choice. Breakfast was very good. You have to try the pancakes :) Its a good value.
I am not in the Hospitality industry or have any relationship with EconoLodge.I just completed 4 years coming to Cornell University, several times a year, 2010 to 2014, with members of my family and staying on this small Hotel and like to thank them for always providing clean and comfortable rooms. The free breakfast has always been good and allows many choices. Internet is free and I have had no problems using it. The rates have been reasonable, even during graduation weekend. The beds are comfortable. The pillows are nice to sleep on.The bathroom have been impeccable clean. It s practically 10 minutes from campus. In a quite area.Water, heating and air conditioned has always been present. Thanks from me and from my family.
The night clerk Justin was terrific. So personable and he helped me cancel a reservation I did incorrectly online. We were in our rooms in less than 10 minutes. We were travelling with our St. Bernard. There was no problem with him and he loved it there too. We were in Ithaca to bring another animal to the vet clinic. Justin was even very sensitive about that. Cant say enough nice things about him. The room was spacious and clean. The cleaning staff was so friendly too. I have already recommended the hotel to other friends who have to travel with dogs and I know a lot of them through my work. Keep doing things exactly as you are EconoLodge. We will definitely be back.
Overall my stay was excellent. Luckily I didnt spend a whole lot of time there, thus minimizing my needing assistance getting into assigned room. I understand & appreciate the efforts made in remodeling the facilities. I appreciated the gift for being a rewards member.
Very worn and dirty feeling. My wife booked a room in the smoking section and we dont smoke. He friends do and we booked rooms next to each other. The smell of smokes was like a wall as you entered the smoking section of the hotel. The room was full of burn marks in the carpet and furniture. The air conditioning unit was running and the room was cold. I tried to turn the unit to heat, but the control panel was falling apart and the buttons barely worked. I managed to just turn it off. I also realized the second day that the window would not close completely as the screen was bent and preventing the window to close. The refrigerator did not run. On the last day I realized that the refrigerator was not plugged in as there was only one outlet and only two things could be plugged in at once, and the TV and microwave were already using the outlet. The second night the lock on the door to our friends room stopped working. The hotel could use a lot of cleaning and a bit of repair.
Booked here because we had stayed here before and it was close to the job I had to work in the morning. Last time things were good. This time the staff were the most unfriendly people I have ever seen. The accommodations were OK. I slept fine. There was no coffee maker in the room, but free coffee in the lobby and it was good. My job started too early for me to eat the continental breakfast so I cant comment on that. The area that our room was in was noisy as we were in the front where you pull up to check in and there were people in the hall being quite loud until late evening. I have to say I will try this hotel again if needed because our first stay was good and this one was OK. But, I wont expect any friendliness from the staff.
The young man who checked us in was exceptionally nice and helpful. The room was clean and didnt smell. AC worked fine despite the heat wave outside. Only problem was that our sink was clogged and smelled really bad when we tried to run water down it. Didnt notice till we got back to the hotel late at night so didnt have a chance to let them try to fix it as we just needed to go to sleep. The take pets and were very nice about it, would recommend.
The first room I had smelled so bad (musty) I had to switch rooms. Hallway also had a bad smell. Second room smelled O.K. Air conditioner sounded like a dryer with ball bearing rattling in it. WIFI was not good, the wifi connection kept dropping out and a lot times when it did connect, internet was not available. Good bed, shower, and breakfast. Ive stayed at this hotel a number of time over the last several years and did not have these problems. Owners need to invest in maintenance and up keep.
Great location in the Ithaca area. A little hard to spot from the road, look for the Pizza Hut and/or Friendlys. Its in that shopping center. Great breakfast! Was more than I expected. Staff keeps everything nice. Internet connection wasnt great. Bed was comfortable. Would stay here again.
This hotel is near the mall area, a car is required to explore the Ithaca area or to go to the universities. The staff is polite and friendly. The room is basic, clean. They have a security person circulating the parking lot, a little unnerving because you wonder why but at least they are taking precautions.
The rooms are infested with bed bugs and occasional cockroaches. Not to mention they have more than half the hotel full of shelter people who just hang out in the hallways and dining area. Management is rude and not helpful. The only plus I noticed while staying was housekeeping! The head housekeeper/inspector was delightful and extremely helpful during my stay. The front desk staff aside from the gentleman were rude and inconsiderate. Never again will my kids and I stay there. The ramada is right across the street pay the extra 20$!! Giving one star because zero is not an option!
Other than a small glitch in locating the property, which can be blamed on me and the nearly dark arrival time. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was excellent although we did hear some being right next to the stairwell. Your breakfast service is outstanding with plenty of choices. The pancakes, in particular, were a treat. Please consider having sugar free syrup available for those who cant use regular syrup.
The smoking rooms in the hotel should not be stayed in by anyone. The smell is so strong that you feel like you smoked all night. All of our clothes had to be washed and neither of us got much sleep and had sore throats from just breathing. On line venues that sell the rooms should highlight that you are getting a smoking room so there are no surprises late at night when you check in. I have never stayed somewhere where you cant sleep because of the smell. Very bad PR to give these rooms out to non-smokers.
This hotel was recommended by a friend as a nice, basic hotel, acceptable if all you want is a place to sleep for the night. The mattresses and bedding seemed new and were comfortable. The staff is very pleasant. The breakfast was pretty much just carbohydrates which I didnt mind at the low rate I paid. However, on the weekends of special events for the colleges n the area, they block discounts. That was disappointing since hotels in the south where I have another college student actually give a college discount when you come in for special events.
We walked in and immediately started arguing. My wife though the disgusting smell was cigarette smoke and I thought it was urine or feces.Got to our room and it smelled just as bad as the common areas. The A/C did not work and the room was missing three of the 4 light bulbs. There were what appeared to be, burn holes in the comforters.Unfortunately there were no other rooms available.A few good things. The staff was pretty good. The lady at the desk gave me her personal fan as my A/C was broken. We bailed after one day and got a hotel a little further away I forgot a bunch of stuff and they were nice enough to set it aside for me.I hope the corporate office reads these comments. This place was a total let down.
We stayed at the Ithaca Econo Lodge while on our way to Niagara Falls. We thought the hotel was clean and secure. The room met our needs. The WiFi was actually better than expected, It was fast and stable enough to watch NetFlix without any issues. The breakfast was pretty decent too. We didnt expect the world so we feel we got a good value for our money. We would stay there again.
Unsanitary period. The room was absolutely disgusting. It stunk of cigarette smoke for a non smoking room. The air conditioning unit, literally had black mold all over it and when I turned it on, it smelt like it was on fire. The door lock was loose and looked as if the door had been breached/kicked in once before and then attempted to repair it. The carpet was filthy, stains, dirt and debris all over. The bed linen looked like someone had already slept in the bed and then was just tucked back in after they left. From a guest perspective, it was apparent that the hotel was not being taken care of or maintained. This greatly affects the guests health.
We had two of my wifes aunts with us (75+) and receptionist gave us room in 1st floor and next to each other on request. Breakfast was good and hot. Our senior citizen also took time to check out late and hotel staff were very accommodating and did not charge us addl money. I will recommend this place.
I thought that the customer service at the desk was really good. I ended up having to reduce my stay by one night, and the staff was really good about accommodating me, price-wise (I made my reservation by telephone so that likely had something to do with my ability to change my reservations without getting charged but either way, the staff was very helpful).Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay. I didnt get the chance to try out some of the amenities offered though due to the shortened stay.
We were a walk in at Econo Lodge, Ithaca, NY were we visited on a university 25th reunion. The hotel was stay overall was really good and value for money. The real great experience was during the breakfast served between 7 to 10 AM every morning where the lady handling the breakfast was simply outstanding and very courteous. At the checkout the people were very courteous and helpful. The only drawback was the pillows which were small and hard.Definitely would recommend this hotel.
I originally planned on staying in a hotel in a neighboring town because we were moving my son from out of state and all the hotels in the area were booked a week in advance. This hotel had a few rooms open last minute and we were reluctant to change. We noticed that prices are higher with less quality in this area. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel. It had what we needed for our stay and the staff was friendly.
I was a bit leary about booking this hotel due to the low price. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel appeared to be fairly new and the rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfast in the morning included a nice selection of both hot and cold items and was very good. The staff were very helpful. We were in the a plaza with restaurants, a gas station and some retail stores - very convenient. We were visiting Cornell University and this hotel was very convenient to the campus. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cornell or Ithaca.
We had confirmation for one queen size bed however we were given a room with two beds and no air conditioning on a night where the low temperature was 80 degrees. They had no other rooms available which leads me to the conclusion that someone else had that room but asked to change because of the air conditioning. We were moved the next night to a good room, but apparently the staff never got the word that we moved. Even though the head housekeeper came to the door and asked if we needed anything, and I told her the sink drained slow, not only did that never get fixed but our room never got cleaned. The desk clerk didnt know who was staying in the room so he disabled out keys. He also said he knew the room didnt get cleaned but didnt do anything about it. I have been a choice rewards member for at least 15 years and have never been treated so poorly.
This was the first time we were traveling with our 1-year-old Labrador retriever. The staff was wonderful! Very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is there was not a trash container in the pet area for disposing of waste. Clean room, comfy bed. Breakfast was satisfactory. Love the pancake maker.
Room was overpriced because it was the week of the Cornell university graduations and hotel rooms in Ithaca were hard to find. Room and hallway was stuffy and ventilation was sub par. The air conditioner in the room was hard to regulate and I repeatedly had to make changes to keep room comfortable. The room was either stuffy or chilly. Bathroom was very clean but the room itself needed a little more work. The furnishing was adequate. The carpet under the beds was filthy and though out of sight, may still have contributed to the stuffiness and musty smell. The high speed internet was excellent and easy to connect and was certainly a strong positive. The complimentary breakfast was just fair in variety and quality but was still a plus because of the convenience it offered.
Worst beds ever considering how much it was for a room. Nothing crazy going on but had to pay 280 for a night. At first we got a room that wasnt even cleaned yet, but they switched our rooms quickly. So props on that. I just cant believe how bad the mattress was. You felt every spring and the sleep was awlful. Pay the extra $30 and stay somewhere nicer if you can afford it.
DISGUSTING HOTEL. Beds were hard, very old, and rooms smelled awful. We found hair in our bed and the carpet was covered in dust and crumbs. Wi-Fi was a joke, couldnt connect to anything. It did absolutely nothing. The lobby and the hallway were roughly 85 degrees at all times, at least the ac in the room worked. Everything had mold including the ceiling and for the price they charge, it should have been a lot better. Filthy gross hotel. Do not stay here.
This hotel was cheep but not worth it. The bathroom floor was so sticky and bathtub so dirty, I went and bought flip-flops. There was ground in stains on the floor with glitter. The comforters had multiple cigarette holes in them. The remote for the TV had tape holding in the batteries. We checked out early.
Our room seemed clean enough, but it was strange that there was no carpeting. The room was too big and open after walking through the door, not comforting. No cars in the parking lot when we arrived??? Didnt seem as if anyone was staying at the hotel?!? Very confused.
The room was a good size, clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The price was reasonable for this area. A full breakfast is included - both hot and cold items (e.g. bacon and eggs, pancakes, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and the other usual stuff). For an economy motel, it was in very good condition, obviously older, but updated nicely. My only issue: The heating unit cycled on and off no matter what setting I tried and, as a somewhat light sleeper, I found this annoying.
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel, had everything I needed and it included breakfast. The room had a hair dryer, microwave, mini fridge, nice TV with remote and list of channels, dressers, desk & dining table for 2 - all a really appreciated list of items for our use. The iron was difficult to use as the security cord made it difficult to reach the end of the ironing board but I guess people have tried to take the irons from the hotel so the security cord is necessary. We also appreciated that you had gym equipment for our use - only wished you had a hot tub &/or a pool - that would have made the stay truly wonderful!I also appreciated the gift of snacks and water at check in just for being a choice privilege member.Only amusing item - a worker (he was wearing a reflective vest so I presumed he was a worker and not a guest) was sitting in front of the hotel smoking under the sign asking people not to smoke in that area. Later, we saw the same person lying down on the floor in the upper hallway.
The hotel was fine except one of our groups had to stay in a smoking room that wasnt very pleasant. They need to have more rooms cleaned and designated as non-smoking. We would stay there again, but we would make sure we could all have non-smoking rooms. The location to get to Cornell University was very good.
Mattress was lumpy. I believe it was a one-story building but something was above my head that sounded like moving furniture all night. Even the faucet was incorrectly situated so you could barely wash your hands; the water came out of the faucet but hit the top first inch of the sink, it didnt come out over the drain. Lighting was poor. To engage door to click shut you had to slam it.We stayed here last year. That experience was fine. We had none of the issues last year that we had this year. I wish Id stayed on that side of the hotel this time.
But just Okay. Price was good, Im not fussy. Property worn, but beds were comfortable. Layout of property was different. Parking lot was in the back, if you had a room facing the road it could be quite a hike to it from the parking lot. Breakfast was decent. Customer service was good. Would I stay again. Maybe.
All hotels are expensive in the summer in Ithaca, so we chose this one because weve stayed here previously (at much lower rates) and because it was the best price available for its location, despite being WAY overpriced for an Econolodge. The hotel did not smell great, our room wasnt fully clean, the bathroom sink had a slow drain and the air conditioner was almost too loud to sleep with it on. This may be because it looked like the filter hadnt been vacuumed or changed in years. There was a double bed that was laughably small in the large room and the mattress wasnt motion-isolating, which meant that I felt my partners every toss and turn all night.
This hotel was conveniently located next to a mall and freeway with plenty of options to eat. I was working in the region and liked that I could get on the highway quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a pleasant surprise and was good enough to not need to go to a restaurant to get another meal. I knew what I was getting when I decided to stay at the EconoLodge and they lived up to that expectation. Great stay.
While I was skeptical about this hotel after reading some reviews online I still booked a stay at this hotel and thank goodness I did. The staff was very accommodating and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. The atmosphere was fun and enjoyable I will definitely recommend this hotel. I wish I can say the same about other hotels in the area - they can learn a thing or two from this econolodge
Everyone was friendly and courteous. However, hotel billing/computer system raises many questions that no one can explain. I prepaid for my room, asked for and received a receipt, which was for a different/lesser amount, and was billed a second time when I checked out (at the different price!) Beware! The room was clean but sparse. There was no place to sit other than the bed or a desk chair. There was one thin cotton blanket on the bed and unless you blast the heater/blower all night, it was cold. The window was covered by a blackout shade so you were either in the dark or, if you opened it to let light in, completely exposed. Breakfast (included) sticks to a strict schedule. I missed by 3 minutes and most everything was gone or shut down.
We first walked in and the hotel smelled of pee. When we got to our rooms they reeked of cigarette smoke and it was so gross. The blankets had burned holes in them and lots of crumbs in the sheets. The windows did not properly close. There was a red stain on the ceiling that Im hoping was not blood. The doors to the rooms dont actually lock, you can open them with a piece of cardboard. The back door to the hotel was broken and anyone could walk in. I felt very unsafe the whole time and could not fall asleep.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and I felt it was in a safe area. The bed was a little soft. The breakfast had an adequate selection of items and I felt there was something for all. The evening staff member was very helpful- he held the door several times and was happy to assist us as needed. I appreciated his help.
Overall this was okay value for the money. The staff was very pleasant and helpful; that was the positive. I was slightly uncomfortable as a female staying alone in a room because of a group of men who were gathered in the parking lot at the back of the hotel. They appeared to be drinking and were there for a long time. Someone had propped the back door of the hotel open with a rock so that there was no need to use a card to get in. This caused me slight concern and I advised the teenagers I was with not to leave the hotel because of the situation in the parking lot. Probably overreaction on my part, but it did leave me feeling uncomfortable.
The hotel made it feel like it was part of the IC Graduation celebration with balloons, decorations, etc. It is a convenient place and the price was not too bad for the dates although the rooms are much cheaper when there is nothing special going on at IC or Cornell. Due to the price issue on this particular weekend, I would rate the value as fair for this stay. If staying on other dates, the rating on the value would probably be higher. Staff were very helpful and did their best to respond to issues. i.e. rollaway. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. The hot breakfast was a real surprise because there was scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage along with the usual breakfast bar items. They also left the breakfast up and running for several hours.
Did not actually get to stay here because they moved us to another hotel as they had given up our room. A room I booked on Sept 15th and have the confirmation for. A room I booked 2 Queen beds for and then they called and said they received our reservation late so only had 1 Queen bed. Then got to the hotel and they had no beds and moved us to another I might say better hotel.
The Ithaca EconoLodge improved and expanded its hot breakfast, with hot scrambled eggs and bacon, as well as a machine which makes pancakes. We appreciate decent, nutritious breakfast choices. The coffee was very weak, however. Our room was clean, not luxurious, but decent value. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Positives: On-site washer/dryer very convenient. Internet surprisingly fast. Front desk staff polite and helpful. Negatives: Breakfast runs out before the official breakfast hours. Get there early. Tub did not drain properly. Walls and door do not block sound of noisy and inconsiderate neighbors and people walking by.
The staff was nice but their key making machine didnt work so they had to let us into our room each time we came back in. The bathroom floor was cracked. The bathtub was noisy when you stood in it and it seemed as if there was no support under it. The sink valve didnt work and was stuck until my husband fixed it.
It was a very good experience from check in to check out. Nice variety of breakfast foods, including bacon and eggs. 24 hour hot chocolate and coffee. Friendly, competent staff. Way better than most Econolodges. This hotel paid attention to details - how the facial tissue, toilet paper, and towels were presented. Comfortable bedding.
This hotel is awesome. I called couple hours in advance for a shuttle service and Cindy picked me up right after I got off the bus in the Ithaca bus station. We had great conversations on our way to the hotel. Once we were there, she and Michelle even arranged another shuttle that took me to campus the next morning. Staffs are really nice and experience is fantastic!
Pretty ugly location, with a view of a malls parking lot. Easy check-in. Room looked great; must have had a recent renovation. Decent bed and pillows. Clean bathroom. Good wi-fi. Now the bad news: gentle snoring from the next room could be heard through the wall all night, footsteps from the room above caused the ceiling to squeak and creak loudly, and proximity to the breakfast room meant a rude awakening when the staff decided to hold loud converations while setting up the so-called breakfast. Oh yes, breakfast. Everything is packaged, nothing fresh. Only cereal choice is instant oatmeal. No yogurt, no cream cheese for the awful packaged bagels, no milk. But if you like packaged muffins and danish, you could do worse. Easy check-out, except the clerk did not follow up when I said the stay wasnt all that good. She just avoided eye contact and avoided dealing with any problems.
The hotel staff and price are great for whats offered, however, the sheets were not changed. There was a period blood stain on the beds sheets that blead through onto the mattress, and the other bed had hair everywhere. I think a clean bed to a hotel is the same as good food to a restraunt. Hopefully this will be a one time mistake.
The staff was friendly and courteous; the beds were comfortable and the room was cool although there was a stench. Staff offered me an industrial size bottle of Febreeze to mask the odor. You could hear a dog barking next-door at 4 AM. The breakfast was a bit less than expected; they did not even have bananas.
Room was fine and clean and it was quiet. Due to construction, there was no place for my family to sit at breakfast and breakfast choices were poor. Not what would be expected at prices charged for the room. Word of caution: When checking out make sure to ask for a printed bill/receipt. When I checked out, I was told the receipt would be emailed to me. I intended to inquire as to the total charges but got distracted during check out. When I got the emailed receipt, the room charges were more than I was quoted on the phone when I made the reservation. When I made the phone reservation I was told a confirmation would be emailed to me but it never was, which meant I had no proof of the quoted price. It took 2 phone calls and an email to manager to get a refund.
The hotel is in a dark secluded strip on the outskirts of Ithica. There was a shortage of items in the bathroom. Too much obvious cost cutting. It is annoying to have to ask for vital everything items. The shower head may a loud for several minutes while in the shower. The staff besides one person was not attentive. It was overpriced to the value we received. I wouldnt go there again and I am a general easy person to please.
I consider myself to be pretty easy-going and diplomatic, but the condition of the bathroom was inexcusable. It looked like there had been a party in there previously and not cleaned before we arrived. It was extremely disappointing considering we were there for a memorial service and just wanted to be able to rest nicely. Very disappointing. Not worth the terribly high price we paid for the room.
Josh at the desk was a breath of fresh air. Big smile explained were everything was and where the best places to eat in the area. The breakfast was top notch eggs, bacon, and everything else you would want. Amandakept us supplied with food. She also had a great smile and was at the top of her game. The beds & pillows were very nice. What more could you ask for? the best hotel in Ithaca.Anne & George Nick
Cons: Needed to sleep during day and was awakened by 12:30pm from continuous banging of doors, was located near a heavy partition door separating non-smoking and smoking wings. Only heard lots of banging either from guests or staff cleaning rooms so unable to rest. Next time will choose a room away from that area for sure!Pros: Breakfast was good, provides enough to eat. Hot shower was really needed. Bed ok.
We stayed on a non-event weekend so beware that is Cornell and Ithaca are doing big events like Homecoming the price will rise. Great location, close enough yet far enough from downtown (traffic can be really slow in town). Room was comfortable and hotel was pretty quiet when we stayed. Staff answered questions about getting around in Ithaca. Breakfast was plentiful.
This particular hotel in Ithaca, NY we did not feel comfortable, all because it was not clean. there was a person in the lobby just sitting there that we did not feel comfortable with. The smell of cigarettes was overwhelming also even thou it said it was a non-smoker facility. Also there were people lingering in the front of the hotel with a dog coursing and smoking.
I stay here regularly, 8-10 times a year and over the past three years it’s gone downhill at a staggering rate. It seems as though the hotel has become a shelter for the areas less fortunate and it’s impossible to walk into the hotel without being asked for something. The rooms are in rough shape but housekeeping does a great job. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Hotel was reasonably priced, staff friendly, and room was clean. The only criticism was the overwhelming and unpleasant room smell from a plug-in air freshener. It was nauseating. I unplugged the gadget and opened the window but that didnt help. The smell was on my clothes for days. Ive been in New York taxis that smelled better.
Ithaca EconoLodge is conveniently located. It is clean and when I was there (June 6, 2016) the breakfast was quite good. We heard the outside door banging throughout the night though we were half way down the hall. Our room was a double room, but only had one chair to sit in. The staff did let me tote one from the breakfast area to our room. The room was so small that my husband felt claustrophobic and we checked out after one night (had planned to stay 2). The staff was very helpful and courteous.
This EconoLodge is an average place, and one should really just expect a nice, simple sleep, shower and shave stay. I saw a few sights in town, ate a nice meal out and about, and came back to the hotel and went to sleep, which is all i expected. The staff was friendly enough, and the breakfast was an average, but solid go-to hotel breakfast. Got my fill and moved on down the road to my next destination. The TV in my room wouldnt change channels, so i watched a lot of local news for a bit. I called the front desk, they came up and checked it out and said theyd be back, but never did. Didnt matter much though, I was out in the evening and then came back and Netflixed a movie on my tablet and went to sleep.
We found the staff here friendly and welcoming making us feel at home. We had a bit of a mix up in reservations but a room was available so this was not a problem. However, it did mean we may have paid more than we would have had I completed the reservation online.Hotel location was perfect for our needs - close to our business in town and in a safe area.
I made a reservation for a non smoking room and ended up in a non smoking room that smelled like a smoking room. Unfortunely we checked in very late and were not able to change room until the next morning. Although the staff were nice and accomodating, my experience with the cigarette smell made my decision for future booking with Econolodge unlikely. Since we were driving from downstate to upstate NY to visit Niagara Falls, we stayed at different hotels within an hour or so of each other to visit other points of interest. We found this hotel to be too pricey for the quality in comparison with other hotels, besides the cigarette smell, the carpets in the room were dirty.
The staff was very friendly and efficient. They did their utmost to make our stay in an OUTDATED HOTEL comfortable. This hotel needs a complete renovation. Will no longer be staying at this hotel because the price does not equal what you are getting. It is too bad because this is a great location. Please UPGRADE so that we may once again come back to your hotel.
The hotel is value for money. Few thing Hotel management needs to look in.1. Heating unit & refrigerator are so loudly and makes you uncomfortable during night.2. Shuttle service for Business is not not always available and prompt.Rest hotel is fine with Bedding and cleanness.
Rooms were clean. Hotel was quiet and good nights sleeping. Breakfast was good. Very close to anything you might want, ie; food shopping, drug store, restaurants, movie theaters and any type of outdoor interest you may be interested in. Staff very helpful with as suggestions and directions to different places.
We have visited this particular establishment many times. The accommodations are always clean, the breakfast offers a great selection and is plentiful, the rates are very reasonable, and the staff is amazing. The Assistant Manager, Amanda, goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and the rest of the staff tend very well and pleasantly to your needs. I would highly recommend.
We were there for a total of 10 hours. The room (240) was dirty, the TV didnt work and there were 2 roaches on the walls, coffee tasted terrible, and the bed was the LEAST comfortable bed we have ever slept in. We slept with the light on. At 3AM, when the bars closed, the halls were filled with noise and slamming doors for over an hour. It was awful! We will never return and I will never recommend this hotel.DISGUISTING!
When we booked the two rooms, we asked for non-smoking rooms, but when the confirmation email arrived, we noticed that we were booked into the smoking rooms. We called Econo Lodge right away the next morning and were told that our booking will be changed to be non-smoking. When we arrived at the hotel, we were offered smoking rooms. As we have one senior with us who is not able to manage the stairs (yes, the hotel has no elevator), we were assigned one non-smoking room on the main floor, but the other room was kept in the smoking area. The issue is not just about the smoking room, it is the attitude of the reception desk the bothered us the most. The staff was not helpful at all. Another issue with the smoking room was the dividing door of the smoking section. When people went in and out of the door, the door needed to be slammed to stay closed. The slamming sound throughout the night made it a sleepless night for us.
DONT DO IT!! If I could rate this hotel with less than one star, I would. Dont dont DONT stay here!! We came into town to move our daughter to Cornell and had a difficult time finding a hotel with a vacancy. We finally found a room available at the Econo Lodge and arrived around midnight after driving all day. First of all....The hotel is really old, and does not have an elevator. My husband is a disabled veteran so this was difficult for him. They should tell you that when you book! But most importantly, our room was DIRTY and it was HOT. The sheets were werent clean. It appeared from the stain to be an oily food on the sheets. The bedspread had something the color of dried blood on it. I dont know that it was blood, but it sure did look like it. When we walked into the room it was very hot and musty. They have a small window unit type of air conditioner that is left turned off until someone goes into the room and turns it on. So it takes a WHILE for it to cool down. The lady at the front desk was very nice, but she had to change the sheets on the bed herself. The tub in the bathroom has pink and black buildup gunk around the drain. Bottom line is....Im completely grossed out. And it was $170 for this SH!th@le!! Crazy!!!
I attended powerlifting meets in Ithaca twice per year. I have used three different hotels in town. This place is the best bang for your buck. The Continental breakfast was really good believe it or not. Check in was quick. And there are a lot of stores, mall, restaurants, parks and so on all around. Pretty damn close to getting a 5 star.
Room was VERY out dated and smelled. The beds were awful, very hard and uncomfortable. The heater was loud and would blow warm air (never hot) for a while and then cold air. The shower has no pressure and the floor of the tub felt like you were going to fall through.
EconoLodge Ithaca is really great value for the price you pay! The staff were helpful, rooms were clean, and the breakfast looked good (although we left too early in the morning during our stay to enjoy it). The only issue was that since our room was close to the lobby, we could hear a lot of people walking up and down the hallway.
I liked that how each room had their own fridge and microwave. There was plenty of space for many people to hang out in one room. The employees were friendly and didnt mind the noise we made (as we were in Ithaca for an acappella competition). My only complaint is that the key card consistently required multiple tries for the door to unlock. Overall, 4/5 would econolodge again
The hotel charges a premium because it is Cornell move in days, so you are lock in to the accommodations The second day of our stay; the beds were not made, the towels were not changed and the room was not cleaned up. The staff had no explanation why and handed me fresh towels and TP.Very Disappointing.
I would not recommend the econolodge Ithaca to anyone. We found cockroaches in our room when we got up in the middle of the night. The carpet had burn holes from cigarettes all over the place, the bed spread had burn holes as well. Our TV had no volume and and we were told to keep unplugging until it works. We could not get the free WiFi to work on any of our devices. We were told to call the wifi company themselves and speak to them. Our room had so many difficiences . Things were falling apart. One of the tiles in the bathroom floor was replaced with the wrong one and was raised up so you were constantly tripping on it when you used the bathroom. I really wanted to go to another hotel after seeing the cockroaches but it was too late in the night. We complained to the assistant manager whos name was Amanda about the cockroaches and things wrong with our room and mentioned we were looking for a refund or a partial refund or at least be accomidated and were only told that she would look into the issue about the cockroaches. My wife is currently emailing corporate headquarters to try and take care of problems so this dont happen to other people like us.
Appreciate the friendly and helpful staff.Appreciate the installation of laminate flooriring. Much cleaner and sensible replacement for the old, dirty looking carpeting.Did not appreciate the inadequate hot water for taking shower. Also shower heads are pathetic.Suggestion: post breakfast hours in eating area.
The Econolodge is a good deal with the price considering it is located in a plaza not far from downtown Ithaca. I was there on business and just needed a clean place to sleep with fast Internet. This place is just that. The staff was friendly and efficient. I didnt have the complimentary breakfast. The only drawback is there was no elevator. For someone carrying heavy luggage it would a chore.
This hotel is the absolute most disgusting, disgraceful, unsanitary place I’ve ever stepped foot in. Smells of cigarettes as soon as you walk through the door. I was here with my team and one of the athletes laid in a dirty bed that had urine in the sheets. The people aren’t friendly and have bad attitudes. I’ve never experienced anything like it. WORST HOTEL KNOWN TO MAN.
This hotels is in dire need of a design rehaul. The bathroom in particular is very dated. The rate for our weekend stay was $60 to $80 over priced for the quality of the lodgings, but staff was nice. Breakfast was very bad, but I did take advantage of being able to get coffee.
The Econo Lodge is situated inside a small shopping center. It makes it a little difficult to see from the highway but the having a Rite Aid walking distance away made it easy to pickup any necessities. The staff was a little hard to reach by phone but friendly and accommodating in person. The rooms were small but mostly clean and provided the essentials. (TV, AC, mini-fridge etc.) A simple continental breakfast is provided as well with bagels, cereal, etc. which is a nice touch for a smaller hotel.
In terms of staying at a solid hotel that is clean and provides a comfortable place to stay - this is it.15 minutes from Ithaca College - it is easy to get to and is situated in a parking lot with gas stations and restaurants. The best part of this hotel is the nice staff and the pancake machine for breakfast! So cool!
There were ppl (3-4) smoking outside the front where it clearly said no smoking. I had to walk through it and felt very uncomfortable. And it smelledAnd it was almost every time I walked in and out. The halls were not vacuumed(I have pics) and the breakfast was disgusting. The egg sanwhich was cold in the middle. WiFi terrible
Hotel staff was very good and helpful. On the downside, there was only 1 end table in our room. When asked about it, it was the policy of the hotel, each room only had 1 end table. There was not enough surface area in the room to put things. We had 2 people with 2 suitcases, and 1 suitcase had to be put on the floor.
Our room had a definite masked smoke smell. It was the type of odor that hit you when you walked in, however you didnt notice it after you were in the room for a few minutes. Aside from the odor, the room was clean and well cared for. The hotel was booked when we were there so there was no opportunity to switch rooms.
I thought I had reserved a smoke free room but was given a smokers room. The room smelled so bad that my throat was sore in the 15 minutes I was there. I could not stay in the hotel over night and left immediately. I was told that nothing could be done for me.I will never use this service or go to an EconoLodge again.FYI, the entire hotel smelled funky. The halls smelled of smoke and air freshener.
Substandard. This motels room was damaged. The mattress was uncomfortable. The staff was friendly. In the dining room, the continental breakfast featured an automated pancake machine. The pancakes were good but the condiments were lacking. No butter only vegetable oil based spread and syrup had a strange taste to it.
Had a reservation for almost two months , had to wait over two hours for room to be ready ( 5:30 pm ) . Bathroom toilet did not flush , also saw other people having the same issues . Had to wait for food for over ten minutes for breakfast twice . The front desk help was emotional and crying at check in both times ( 3:00 and 5:30 ) . The A/C was not working in room but hotel staff was able to get it to work slowly. Had to open window at night to get cool air in room .... (55357)(56873)
Booked a room here because it seemed like a good deal. When we got there, three people were loitering outside the hotel and there were only two cars in the parking lot. In the middle of a bad area and was concerned for safety. Couldnt get a refund but still opted to stay somewhere else.
Conveniently located to Ithaca waterfalls, Cayuga Lake and wine country. Located in a mall, from the outside the hotel looks separated from the neighborhood and highways. The hotel itself is well maintained and clean. If you are spending most of you time sightseeing, the hotel is perfect. If you want to be in the in a very active area, this hotel is not for you.Staff is very helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel and will stay here again when visiting Ithaca.
Id stay here only if no other place was available. We were in town for a family reunion and this is where the room blocks were. Breakfast was good though, rooms are a bit outdated. Doesnt seem to be any plans to upgrade anything, some shotty drywall patch work in the room i was in, holes in the curtains, etc. You get what you pay for, and they arent billing themselves out as 3, 4, or 5 star hotel so I took it for what it is.

2022-04-24Consistent with most other reviews this is the most disturbing hotel I’ve ever visited. Booked a one night stay thinking it would be fine from the fake pictures on the web site. Should have read the reviews. Room was beyond disgusting. Not sure how the health / building department has not condemned this place. Far worse than the seedy hotels you see in horror movies. My wife and I left after 5 mins. Straight out the back door. Did not want to even go to the front desk and request a refund. Trust me - sleep in your car if you have no other choice.

2022-05-22This hotel houses DSS and Saint John shelter guests year round but primarily in the winter. I was one of those guests, and while happy to stay in any sort of housing, I have witnessed some things that any paying guest should be aware of. The rooms are falling apart, baseboards half falling off, rotting wood under them, broken furniture, bodily fluid stained mattresses under the bedspreads, unworking electronics/appliances, and bugs abound. I have been here several months and while I haven’t seen the rumored cockroaches, I have seen plenty of ants, small black beetles, and spiders. I have not seen any bedbugs. The floors are wood patterned linoleum which, despite hours of scrubbing, steaming, and sweeping, somehow manage to be constantly sticky and gross. In terms of staffing, there are some really nice staff, including Christine, Amanda (manager), Faith, Dee, and all of the housekeepers. The security officer is a bit frustrating at times, but otherwise I haven’t had many issues. The location is great, not far from Cornell, the Mall is across the street, and several small shops in the same plaza. The AC and heater worked fine in my room, however, the sink had such a thick layer of grease in the pipes that it took exactly 38 minutes for a half full sink to drain. The door locks worked fine, the main lighting worked fine. I should note that during Covid-19 so far, this hotel is not offering breakfast. There is a free ice and water machine along with free coffee 24/7 though. Be aware that the shelter guests come from many walks of life and you’ll never know what they’ve been through, or why they’re being housed here, so maintain friendly respect for everyone, you don’t know everyone’s stories. There are pet friendly rooms, 4 wheelchair accessible rooms (which are perfectly sized, I stayed in one, am in a wheelchair), a smoking gazebo out back, and a nice lobby area. That’s the best information I can provide, and if you stay there, be sure to tell Mandy that Kamiron says hello.

2022-06-05The room was really dirty! Our reservation said we had breakfast but they didn’t. All we got if we wanted was a frozen cheese burger with egg for breakfast. There was no one else in the hotel, for a good reason! The bathroom was especially dirty, a lot of hairs in it. When we first came so it wasn’t us. The bed also dirty and small.

2022-06-29Bar the location of the econo lodge, next to highway 13 and sharing the parking lot with a strip mall. It was remarkably quiet. The rooms were clean and I got a much needed good night sleep, all at a good price. What more can you ask.

2022-05-16Positive: Staff was generally understanding and as helpful as they could be with what they had to work with. Negative: The smell of smoke in the room and hallways was unbearable. There was No signage on the exterior we had no idea we had even found the right place. There was cats, dogs, people living in the hotel, it was more of a halfway house then a hotel. Horrible

2022-03-17If you want junkies and tweakers for neighbors, then this is the place you want. Most the front desk staff are rude and not very helpful. Roaches, bedbugs and other critters roam free at night. No privacy, dirty room and it smells like garbage everywhere. And my favorite is the random needles Ive seen.

2021-12-17There were complications with our original accomodations so we scrambled for a place to stay nearby and found this place Wich was reasonably priced. The front desk was very nice and professional and the room looked much better than I expected despite the leaking mini fridge. We were happy with our stay and would definitely stay in another if were in a last minute situation like that again.
