Looking for a shop that is not only very competent but also very professional? If so, you need to look no further than Edge Auto Repair. It begins with the owner Steve. Steve is very professional and honest. You can trust his diagnosis and be assured he is not making up a problem that doesnt exist in order to put money in his account. Ive been going to Edge for years and recently Edge replaced my coolant control valve with what turned out to be a faulty part. Steve diagnosed it as being faulty and replaced it with another part ASAP free of charge. I cant ask for more than that from a shop.
Wonderful Auto Repair! Dependable, kind wonderful staff! My daughter had a mishap with her car, Steve and his staff were so understanding and compassionate! He did a great job on the mechanical repairs as well as the body of the car! We felt he was fair and honest. It was reassuring and refreshing to deal with such a great auto shop! Highly recommend them and I would go back without a hesitation!
I moved to Binghamton for school and needed a local auto mechanic to service my cars. While at the Binghamton UDC, I asked a state trooper if he knew a mechanic and he referred me to Steve at Edge Auto Repair. Im glad I followed up because this is one of the best mechanic shops that I brought my cars to get serviced.There are several positive experiences that I could write about for this particular auto repair shop. However, this is the one experience that made me continue to do business with them and show why this auto repair shop is top-notch:Prior to moving to Binghamton, I went to 4 different auto repair shops in the Hudson Valley to fix a leaking A/C (2008 Altima) and none of them were able to diagnose the problem. Some of their comments were: Ohhh its most likely the evaporator. We didnt find any visible leaks so it has to be leaking. Well have to go through your dashboard but this will take time and be expensive, We checked your AC system and didnt find any visible leaks, I cant find any leaks with your A/C... bring your car back in a few months for another recharge. After receiving similar opinions from 4 different auto repair shops, I started to believe that my cars A/C was done for.When I brought my car to Edge Auto for an oil change, I asked Steve if he could diagnose why my A/C wasnt working just for the heck of it. A few hours later, I get a phone call from him and he explained that he found a few leaks in the A/C system. I immediately thought... If the last 4 shops didnt find any leaks, what did he find and how?? Is this going to be expensive based on what the other mechanics recommended? He further explained that a common car A/C problem is faulty O-Rings, which is where he found the leaks and are inexpensive to replace. So, he replaced the O-Rings, recharged and retested the A/C system, and everything looked well afterwards. Its been almost 3 years since that service and my A/C is still working perfectly! This was a normal day at work for Steve at Edge Auto to diagnose and rectify an A/C problem that I couldnt get a straight answer from other repair shops.If youre searching for an auto repair shop in the Binghamton area, give Edge Auto a try. This is a competent, affordable (there are also student, military, and senior discounts), and honest shop.
Wipers stopped working on my wife’s car last week. I’ve had this issue twice before with my money pit Saturn Aura. Each time before was over 400 bucks to repair. Called Edge Auto based on referral from my sister in-law. They got me in same day and repaired it in under an hour as a large storm was pouring down outside. The price was under 200 bucks. Never been happier leaving an auto mechanics. Will definitely go back for future Repair needs. A+

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. They were able to help me find out what was wrong with my car, order a part, and make sure my warranty company was going to cover it. Then, got my car in that same day to be fixed! My car broke down at 9am and was fixed by 430 that afternoon! Couldnt ask for better service than that! When the warranty company gave us a hard time they made sure they didnt back down. Thanks so much guys! Amazing service!
Best repair shop in Binghamton area Ive experienced so far.I can always pick up my vehicle from them with a happy smile on my face.As a student in BU (short of money), I think they are very empathetic and practical. They saved me lots of money by pinpointing the issue and avoiding unnecessary repairs. My vehicle is 2000 xterra and for three years Ive had many works done by them as brake line leakages, fan belts, brakes, tire changes, and alignments etc.They are so honest that once they diagnosed my ABS for free as my ABS light comes on and off and by the time I dropped my vehicle to them, the light wasnt on and I forgot to tell them to ignore the light if it comes on (which it did...).All the people there are friendly and helpful as they took time to explain the problems and the fixes done. I hope there are more shops like them.
I was excited to try Edge after seeing all of the great reviews but I left very disappointed.I made an appointment about a week in advance and was told to take my car in in the morning any time after 8am. I arrived that day at around 10am and the woman at the desk, frustrated, told me that check in for vehicles being dropped off ends at 9am and I was taken off the list for the day. I apologized for the miscommunication and she left to ask the boss whether I could still be squeezed in for the day. Luckily, they were able to squeeze me in. About 4 hours later, I received a call and was told of a couple different issues with my car. I asked her for an estimate on the work that needed to be done and she seemed annoyed when she responded that they didnt have one for me. I asked if it would be possible to leave my car there to have the work done the following week. She informed me that there was no availability the following week and I said that that was fine and I would come pick my car up. She then responded that she would ask the boss if there was any way that they could squeeze me in for the following week, to which I declined as I sensed that she was annoyed. It went downhill from here and she began to actually yell at me.She insisted that she talk to the boss and after declining again she yelled JUST LET ME ASK HIM!At this point, I said that I wasnt comfortable leaving my car there. I was further berated for saying that I felt uncomfortable. I reiterated that I would be picking my car up then I was hung up on midsentence asking how much the total was for the work done today.Nobody should have to deal with verbal abuse when taking their car into the shop.For this reason, I will not be returning to Edge.
I dont know what to say about this: I was charged $10 more an hour than theyre usual hourly rate. Without being told in the beginning! Its too much to type.
Steve and his team are outstanding! We had our car towed there and in 3.5 hours we had a new clutch! He bettered his quote and we are so happy to have our car running again! If we could, wed give six stars!
I would give this shop 5 stars but our experience going a few different times was close to the last reviewer here. I love the mechanics; they give very fair prices and are professional. The woman who takes care of appointments and customers on the other hand was nothing less then stressful and we just decided there are too many mechanics to deal with this kind of stress. The details are unimportant and only little things so if you can handle that part (and if you are a man because she seems to be a lot less stressed and annoyed around men then women) you should be fine. The first time we came in, she was very pleasant and went out of her way to talk to us (my husband was with me) but I had to return a couple of other times on my own and she was clipped, annoyed and pretty rude. Twice I came in before she got there to talk to the mechanics (again, really wonderful people) and made appts easy. When I returned for the appt each time, she was extremely difficult over the fact that she wasnt in control of when the appt was made. It just went worse from there. We had to really think hard to not return here as we both like the mechanics but I have to start taking the car more on my own during my husbands work hours and truthfully, I just cant handle the extra anxiety dealing with this woman.
Very pleased with Edge, got me in quick for brake repairs, fair price and quick service. Very happy with my overall experience.
I cant speak more highly of these folks. Its so nice dealing with real people that understand a tough situation. Theyre getting all of my future business and Ill be sending everyone I know in their direction. They deserve every bit of it.And theyve also got the CUTEST mascot Ive ever seen!
Good service, great labor prices, and even better labor prices if your a Veteran! And I only got charged 3/4 hour total labor. Brake caliper, oil change, parts and labor 140$ out the door.
I had hit a deer carcass on the highway the night before and came in to make sure there wasnt any serious damage. In no time, he had zip-tied some broken plastic underbody, pointed out the minor damage that could be fixed later, and hosed off the gore. And then he didnt even charge anything. What he didnt know was that we were in the middle of driving 14 hours to attend a funeral that day, so the kindness was especially appreciated. I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars.

I have only ben there once, I work nearby so i tried them out.... I will be back, they gave me a honest quote, good labor rates, and did good quality work, fast. I would recommend them based on that experience, pretty highly.

2022-06-13I have been going here for over a year now and I have no intents of bringing my car anywhere else. I never once had any issues with them, they are extremely professional and you can tell they genuinely do care about their customers. They are very fair in pricing and definitely trustworthy. If you need work done, this is the place!

2021-04-03Edge Auto is great! They were nice, helpful, and efficient! I went by to drop a friend off for his car and out of nowhere my car started smoking. Right then and there they went out, brought it in and diagnosed it. Gave me a great price on a newradiator and got it done in less than two days. They were friendly, didn’t pull any tricks, and included me in their Technet service that they give all customers. Great student discount too! Best possible place to have my car break down in front of!

2020-12-14Steve did the timing belt on my 2009 Honda Pilot. He also fixed my starter recently. He has also done work on my other car in the past. This is a mechanic who knows what he is doing and all at a great prices. You can trust Steve with your vehicle and with what he says and that is a great feeling!!! I highly recommend Edge Auto Repair. You wont find a more reliable, honest, and knowledgeable mechanic than Steve. Go see him, youll be glad you did. Ps.Ally is great too!!! Thank you Edge Auto!!!

2021-05-04Excellent experience. The exhaust heat shield of my car was cracked. I was hearing a rattling noise. Some other shop in Binghamton (which advertises for having cheap service cost) told me the catalyst converter and the muffler needed to be replaced (>$2000). The engine light was off and I could not not believe a rattling noise from the front passenger side can be from any of these two parts! I am glad that I found Edge Auto Repair. They fixed it for less than a hundred. Experienced mechanics who did not rip me off.
