We waited, literally, one hour to get our food; I’m pretty sure the waitress forgot about us. When we got the food, the order was wrong. When we got the bill, we were charged for the incorrect order AND the waitress automatically put a 15% tip on the bill. No apology or thank you for coming from anyone. I had high hopes - disappointed.
Great service and hospitality. They were even willing to hold a cake for a birthday surprise for dessert there.Awesome tasty food, especially the churasco, mofongo, and sangria was soo good.Very kind, hospitalable and had a pleasant experience. Will go back to El Conde for sure.
I went there before and the food and waitress were excellent. HOWEVER they closed the restaurant for almost a month and i wanted to go back because i liked the food my first time there. So i went there yesterday 09/06/20 and it luckily found it open this time, i was so excited. However everything this time was AWFUL AND DIFFERENT. the Waitress was very unprofessional calling me and the people i went with (mi nina mi nino). Not only that she doesnt know how to speak with customers and she had a very rude attitude .The food taste so different. THEY CHANGE THE CHEFF, i will never come back , they ruined that place. The food its VERY PRICEY NOW AND IT TASTE VERY BAD.
My wife and i had a night out, without the kids. We have be eating at this restaurant for many of years. But we have not been to the restaurant in over a year or so. So we decided to go there for a nice quiet dinner. We noticed that they change owners, but they kept a few of the old waitress that was there when the old owners was there. So we order what we usually order and we was impressed. The food was very good and we was happy with the decision that we made to eat at this restaurant.
I dropped in for lunch on a Saturday because the chicken cooking on the grill from the window looked amazing! With rice, beans and sweet plantain, the meal was divine! My waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive even though my Spanish was limited. It was a very good meal and priced fairly from my perspective as a SF Bay Area visitor.
I have been their customer for around 14 years(whoa time flies) and if you really want the best churrasco in the uptown Manhattan this is the right place. I tried several restaurants around when I was living there and this is the best. Even now that I live in New Jersey every time I go to NY, this place is a stop.
The food is good. I have a go to dish whenever i get a chance to go there. The prices are reasonable. The portions are great i always end up taking food home. A slight language barrier as its in a hispanic area. Depends who is working. They also have a space where you can see your food being cooked. A must go to.
Pros: food was good, restaurant looks nice, staff was accommodating of a walk-in party of 8 and fine with splitting checks.Middling: Some reasonably priced options but the rest of the menu is very pricy and for some reason a lot of Italian/steakhouse inspiration which wasnt apparent until we sat down.Cons: People who arrived after us (mind, they were not busy when we arrived) received their food before us. Our food starts to come out, a little staggered but okay. The last two, just simple sandwiches, took another 15 mins after the last plate.Everyone tried to wait/eat slow, but we were all getting full by the time their food came. And then the real wait began. It was 655 at the latest when all our plates were taken away. We proceeded to be ignored for the next 20 minutes while the restaurant started to get busier... youd think theyd want to get the table flipped. At one point (maybe 710?) we saw our waiter rolling napkins around flatware - not exactly the most pressing task. Finally got back to us, but it was another 10 minutes to get the checks, and another 10 after that for him to come back with our cash/receipts. We didnt get out until almost 740.They got an automatic gratuity out of us as a large party, which is expected, but time is money, what the hell were they thinking??
Mediocre food with a long wait to be seated on a Sunday night with waiters who do not speak or understand English well and do not come back to your table to pour you water or ask if you need anything. Asked for the meat platter thing that the menu says it good for 2-3, our waitress asked in surprise if we wanted that, and explained thats three four people, :) why does the menu says otherwise then? The steak was overcooked (we were not asked how we wanted it), and the chicken was dry. The sausages were good. Wont try it again.
Decided to try the competition to Malecon which is across the street. Chicken is grilled here, not rotisserie, and unfortunately results in dry and tough meat, particularly the breast. My serving was inconsistently heated, with some pieces cold and some hot, indicating it had been cooked (who knows how much) earlier and reheated. Service was adequate if somewhat inattentive. The restaurant itself is lazily kept with the bar used as a storage area, over crowded with chairs and tables, and overall unappealing. Theres a reason Malecon is consistently packed and this restaurant isnt. 2 stars as the pieces of chicken that were hot and not dry as jerky were quite tasty.
Extremely disappointed with my last visit at this place. I use to loved the quality of the was great. However on my last visit on 03/27/2016 was a total disappointment. Over an HR to sit us tables available but were given to other customers because they claim our group on 7 was to big. Sat at the bar while I waited for my table and there was no one to served a drink. Finally we got a table and we were rush of it before we were done. The stake not as good as in the past.
First of walking in was great. Gentleman greeted us and seated us quickly. However, the waitor completely 360. He first comes and ask us if we are done ordering. Keep in mind we havent been served water or the restaurant courtesy, in this case it was bread or been asked for anything at all. The waiter comes 15 minutes while we were sitting then doesnt come at all. Another young lady comes and helps us out. At the sametime, our original waiter passed by us 3 times and didnt even bother to say anything to us (when are menus were closed). Please lets get better people at this place that really believe in and value customer service.
The Worst Service, at first I thought it was fluke. I gave this place three chances. The first time we went. The rice was over cooked, I asked for a steak medium rare they gave it to me well done. When I told the waitress she told me thats medium. So I guess well done is burnt...Second time My wife wanted to go I was apprehensive. I went anyway, The place was full so we had to wait which I dont have an issue. What I have an issue is trying to let anyone know that we are waiting to be seated. They have no one that keeps track of the people are waiting. So a couple behind us got seated, when I told them we have been waiting they said oh the place is full you have to wait... If you had some time of organization then you would know who was waiting first.Today, was the last time we didnt wait this time to even be seated. There was a nice couple of ladies that got seated then I am standing there next to the Kiosk waiting for one of these so called servers to come over. I asked one of the waitresses if someone is doing the seating.Again she told me we are full you have to wait... I didnt ask you that I asked who is taking care of the seating... Sigh..So 10 minutes pass by and a group of 5 (we are 4) come in and a table opens up and they start to seat them. I had it I told them off and we left.Went across the street To Malecon, What a difference, they were way more busy than El Conde. But are way more organized, there is a wait line where they advise you how long and put in a queue. They said 30 minutes, but it was only 20. I Did not mind the wait and the food in my humble opinion is way better, less greasy and they know how to cook a steak. So if you find El conde full good luck, you are better off going to Malecon much better service by 10 fold.
First of all I have to say for a place called a steakhouse they do not know how to make proper steak. Their rice is lumpy, their steaks are over cooked even when asked to make it medium, it was more like cardboard. They have a hard time understanding English. They even switched the price on me mid meal claiming that the menu is outdated as if it was my fault. not going there again thats for sure
Throw back Dominican music, singing grill man, good service. Their menu is a little pricey in comparison to surrounding Dominican places but the portions are large. It can be noisey. Sit on the side away from the main room for a more quiet dinner. Men make sure you lock the bathroom door HANDLE. The latch doesnt work.
I dont speak Spanish which immediately cast me as an outsider but thats ok! The service suffered slightly as a result but the steak and side dishes were well worth the sassy attitude I encountered from the my waitress. The servings are huge and the steak was tender, juicy and so succulent. Worth the $15 for the Curasco y Camarón or Surf & Turf Steak & Shrimp dinner. I highly recommend splurging and getting a side of the sweet Monfongo (friend plantains) They are best described as a smoky indulgence on par with a find whiskey & cigar!
Great food but the waitress are terrible they take your order ones. and I was going to order another piña colada and I wait 15 minutes in the place it was empty I walk out with desire to have one more no wonder malecon is full of people I hope They do something about it
Ill give them 1 start because theres not a choice to put 0, the food is not that good and the price are ridiculously high, i took 3 of my family members to that place and for 4 ordinary plate the bill was for almost $150 dollars... is definaly not worthy, dont waste your money as I did...

2022-04-05El Conde Nuevo is a nice restaurant with interior decorations. Comfortable seating and fairly small. The food was exquisite and definitely had me wanting more; the dessert options are very good also. Definitely a “would recommend” and satisfied with the service.

2019-11-18This is one great Dominican restaurant to visit whenever you’re in the neighborhood. I was there today with my Connect Group members from church and we had super fun. We had Chicharron de Pollo con Hueso and Pollo a la Parrilla. This place is nice and their service is amazing. We almost didn’t get a seat today. There were lots of customers waiting for their orders. This restaurant is pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal. There’s also wheelchair accessible entrance.#DominicanRecipe #FamilyFriendly #Food #NYC #PolloalaParrilla #Manhattan #Restaurant #Cozy.

2021-09-08Its a hit or miss, like many restaurants in Washington Heights. I ordered two chickens and couldn’t even feed it to my kids. Both chickens were undercooked. In such way that blood was dripping from both of them. Disgusting and potentially dangerous to one’s health.

2021-07-31My friend and I ordered the steak and chicken meal with white rice and salad which had a huge avocado enclosed. The whole could feed 3 individuals. In total, I only paid $47 including tax. The meal was absolutely delicious. The steak was tender and juicy. The chicken was well done. I will definitely go back if I am going this neighborhood again.
