El Jarocho in other cities:
I usually stop on my way to work once a week for last cupple years.. and never had any problems. So I stopped in about 2 weeks ago to pick up my food and had a small mix up and asked for queso and got shredded cheese.. I stopped in to eat today on way to work and went to ask the lady Ive never seen before working there if they still had liquid queso or just shredded cheese.. and she proceeded to yell at me telling me its impossible they messed up.. mind u I was not complaining I was just checking they had the liquid cheese.. Im sitting there stunned at how I was being yelled at over a question.. she was so beyond rude and un professional.. I walked out and do not ever plan on going back to be treated like that.. that rude chick with no ppl skills is gonna make u guys loose alot of business as I will also be spreading my experience around.. and no I didnt even argue with her I was so shocked at how she started flipping out over a question... Not cool at all.. let me know when shes gone and Ill be back... Ps Ive never had a bad experience there in over 2 years untill today but it was beyond rude and disrespectful for no reason.m.
Dining here tonight was, without a doubt, one of the worst restaurant experiences Ive ever had. Multiple staff members were incredibly rude, slamming our drinks and food on the table, speaking shortly and rolling their eyes, and audibly talking about us with other staff the second after taking our orders. It wasnt worth it for the food, which was quite tasteless all said and done. The mens bathroom was out of order but had no sign, and the waiter thought it was appropriate to notify my brother by aggressively yelling at him Sir! Sir! Sir! Use the womens room. No politeness... you probably have to be a regular to get that kindness. They tossed the bill on the table without making eye contact, just like they didnt greet us when we walked in (it wasnt busy, they just looked us up and down and didnt say hello) and didnt look up to say goodbye as we walked out either. I truly dont understand why the staff at this restaurant were so petulant and passive aggressive from the moment we walked in when we were nothing but polite the entire evening. It is a miracle that this establishment is still in business if they treat other customers even close to what my family put up with tonight.
We had a lovely time here. This is a very traditional place and our server was very sweet. The steak fajitas came out quickly and were sizzling! Some places dont do their fajitas this way during slow times but these folks stepped up to make a great impression. Recommended.
Authentic Mexican food. Small seating area - maybe 10 tables total. Service was fast, but not friendly. However, I attribute that to covid and the fact that it was pretty much just the one guy running everything the day we were there. This may not be the norm, thats why I still give 5 stars. Its more of a diner type seating area.
Really good Mexican Food restaurant. A little small on the inside, but great food! My personal favorite is the cheese steak burrito, which is a burrito filled with steak and covered in yummy melted cheese. Overall a great place to have a meal with family and friends, while enjoying a nice meal. Currently as of writing this they are open and require a mask to enter (like every walk in business) and they restrict the number of people inside.
Its not fair to ever compare some random mexican restaurant while on vacation to you tried-and-true goto spot...but this really disappointed. The service was not great, adequate at best (our guy was meh, the girl seemed very nice). My food, the grilled chicken tasted like a chicken bouillon cube...burrito was all wrap and uninspiring. What really got me ticked off is, even though they have advertising for beer hanging up everywhere and drinks on the menu, we couldnt get a margarita because they let their liquor license expire. I get that things happen, but they never warned us. We got in, got seated, got the kids to the bathroom and started eating chips and salsa (which were very good) before we tried to order drinks and were denied. I think they should be more upfront about such a thing instead of letting you get situated and finding out like that. Put a sign up in the front or just give a heads up when folks walk in. Anyhow, be aware that this place has great salsa, meh food, meh service and no drinks.
Food is what you would expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. Service is terrible. When told they didnt have what we ordered we got attitude and an eye roll when asking for a menu. Ive never seen a server get overwhelmed by 3 tables and verbally say aye aye aye when another 4 top walks in. Regardless wont be coming back or recommending to anyone cayse I dont want anybody to be disrespected for wanting to have a meal.
The best authentic Mexican food in the area. A favorite original item they have is the Chicken Taquito Bites, you wont regret it. Everyone is friendly and it feels so welcoming, like youre part of the family. Also some of the best salsa and chips. Love this place as my go to Mexican fix!
Its hit and miss. Its run by the same people who used to run La Mexicana in Warren, which I loved. Im not sure what changed, but I believe your experience will vary depending on who is working that day. It seems like their skeleton crew couldnt care less about quality. I ordered take out on a Tuesday around 2 pm and it was very disappointing, while a few weeks prior we dined in during dinner rush and it was everything I hoped it would be. Very inconsistent, but absolutely delicious when its their A game.
The food was mediocre at best. I feel bad writing a bad review, but it really wasnt very good. We had tacos asada, potato enchiladas and chicken salad. The meat was flavorless. Chips were at least warm and the sangria was pretty good. Service was good, but lacked atmosphere.
I loved our time there because the cooked food tasted good, the chips were warm, & the service was excellent - the wine was awful - no margaritas - no guacamole (what self-respecting Mexican restaurant runs out of quac?). But they really tried hard to make good Mexican food
I went for lunch and ordered the vegetarian chimichanga. The lady in charge was sitting at a booth watching whatever soap opera was on the TV. There was a man who took my order and his service was good, but the food, not so much. The tortilla was not crunchy, but soggy, and the insides resembled not Mexican food, but a cheap can of mixed veggies you can get at Walmart for under $1. They clearly just microwaved the food instead of actually cooking it. The rice and beans that came with it were pretty much the same you get at any Mexican place around the country. When I was about to leave I asked for a to-go container. After a minute of arguing with the women at the booth, he said he couldnt give me one. Very rude of her. I did not have a good experience here.
Used to be my favorite spot. When they were in Warren as La Mexicana I stopped every time I was in the area, and I was super excited when they moved to Jamestown. At first everything seemed the same, delicious as always. The last three visits however, Ive been severely disappointed. None of us finished our food. The tacos carbon tasted old, the taquitos mexicanos were dry and you could tell the grease in the fryer was dark and therefore cross contaminated, and the soft corn tortillas were clearly raw and not warmed or toasted in any way, very gritty. I dont know what happened but I never see the old cook anymore. Such a shame. Great salsa though.
An asset to the city. Excellent service, quiet atmosphere, easy to find, lots of parking all around. The food is top-notch for the area. The carnitas dinner and the chori pollo are my favorites so far. The latter being one of the best meals Ive had in a long time. In the city limits, there are very few of any food style that can compete. And they havent been sucking the government teet like the breweries, bars, and beer stores.

2021-10-26The bad: Very greasy beef and their exhaust fan is literally dripping grease down the wall and sidewalk. No Franks red hot. Flat soda. The good: Great yellow rice. Great salsa and chips. Great fajitas. Great jalapeno poppers, just skip the sauce and dip in the salsa. Very nice waitress.

2022-06-01We use to eat here all the time and loved it. We went today for lunch and the cheese dip was different very thick with no flavor. The food came out and we ate one bite and decided to leave. Waitress was extremely rude, refused to let us speak to the owner and still made us pay even though we did not eat anything. Did not see any of the old staff so not sure if it is under new management or something.

2022-04-23Food and service were both excellent. Dining area has a homey and intimate vibe. There were only a handful of customers when we visited so we felt comfortable dining in.

2022-04-08Up until this past couple of months I would give this 5 stars. Something has changed. Wait staff is different, in fact just one women and her pre-teen child. The friendly smile is missing. The salsa has lost its flavor. Drinks are not refreshed. The beef is tough and stringy. I have brought friends and family before, but now I am not sure I would. It is as if it is under new and inferior management.

2022-03-15Good people and service. Food was good enough for a return trip but nothing to write home about. Some margaritas wouldve helped. Homemade salsa and chips are great.

2022-02-09If you like to wait twice the time for your food to be ready this is the place. They will tell you that your order will be ready in 10 minutes only for you to show up and wait an extra 10 minutes. Dont set an unreal expectation for customers. Respect others time as you would want your time respected. Its almost as if they start the order when you show up. Decent food, terrible processes.
