After tubing, we decided to go here and we had a very nice time. I’m not sure how authentic the tacos were, but they were very enjoyable. Most of my friends who are girls, couldn’t finish it all and took some home for tomorrow. I had three steak tacos and I have no complaints. Also the waiter was very friendly and was on top of things.
The food was excellent! They also give you a lot for your money! If you leave there hungry...its your fault! The staff was very helpful and attentive! I havent had good service like that in....a very long time..I highly recommend you stopping in checking it out...its very good!
I highly recommend. We had a very late lunch there this past Saturday and I havent stopped thinking about my meal since. I ordered the Mariscada Veracruzana which is the seafood dish in the photo and my husband ordered the Choose your Combo option and chose a fish taco, a beef enchilada and a chicken chimichanga. We were both very happy with what we had. Our server (wish I could remember his name) was so friendly. He took a while between visits so we did not feel rushed at all and the atmosphere was relaxed and exactly what we were looking for to relax and enjoy this delicious meal! This place is well worth the cost!
This place exceeded my expectations. Came here after a hike with kids and truly enjoyed everything we ordered. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Kids shared a plate of beef tacos and loved it. I definitely recommend ceviche which was yummy and super fresh and tres leches for desert was a perfect finish!!!
Well, based on the pictures from reviews, i ordered Steak Fajita to go. I had never been eaten at the restaurant itself but what came to my house was a totally different thing from the picture posted from someone that ate at the restaurant. The steak taste and look more like stew meat than a grilled steak, it is definitely not a soft steak so i guess that is why they cook it as stew or so, in a soup bow like (which i was not expecting at all). The side of rice and beans are just weird looking. The beans are mashed and it tastes awkward. The rice is regular. The guacamole has no much taste. Overall, it is a really plain taste food weird dull looking if you have a high level palate. I would not order this plate again and so my entire house agreed on so too, which just reinforces all i was thinking quietly while i had the first bites.
9/5/20. Dine inside and outside is available. Really nice place. They were busy but working hard to accomodate fast. Food was delicious and big portions. Two things which I would not take any stars off. My appetizer came along with my dinner actually moments later. So there was no point for appetizer at that point.Second to pay cash if you would like to avoid a 4% charge on all electronic card transactions. But I would definetly recommend this place.
Stopped, by chance, as we passed by on a motorcycle cruise. (We turned around after passing it!) Sat out on the patio with view of a sweet little pond with the sun reflecting on the water. Cool vibe and fun decor inside and outside too! Looks like a great place to come with a group for a party. Complimentary chips and (what I assume could only be homemade) salsa, with fresh cilantro and chopped onion. I ordered the shrimp empinadas with an extra side of guacamole. (The dish came with a small side of guacamole and sour cream.) Hubby had steak burritos. Everything was totally delicious! My lunch of shrimp empinadas had 3!!! empinadas, plus rice and refried beans. I was only hungry enough to eat one empinada and had enough food left over to have for two more meals. Hubby could only finish half of his food, and brought the other half home. The yummy sauces, salsa, and the grilling of the proteins before being incorporated into the dishes really set it apart! Seemed to be a family run business and the care and love showed in the freshness of ingredients and attention to flavor profile and complimentary spice level. 😋 The service was terrific and friendly, and the entrées came out to the table piping hot. When I went inside to use the rest room, I even heard a guy inside (who I think was the owner) singing merrily along with the recorded music. There were two parties, one outside and one inside when we arrived, yet we were attended to as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. Highly recommended!!
Ive always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the staff. However, the customer service took a huge dive off of a cliff when I found a fly inside of my margarita. I received no apology. They did not offer to pay for my meal or even the margarita. I was however questioned by multiple members of the staff as to how the fly got into my margarita.
I have been coming to El Patron for many years now at least once or twice a year ( maybe more...) and I love their food! I tend to favor Chiles Beef Rellenos, Poblano peppers stuffed with beef. I like them because one can taste the poblano peppers and feel their crunchy texture, but they are still soft enough, with just enough cheese and sauce.I also love the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. soft Chicken tortilla, with a mole sauce...yummy!Im getting hungry just thinking about it!This place is great, very nice staff. Dont expect any fancy signature cocktails, or Margaritas...I do like the Strawberry Margarita though...But do go there for the food!
Wow! Texans only know authentic Mexican, so we always do our research before hand. This was a local favorite, so we were curious if it was as good as we were reading. A+ without doubt. The art, the overall experience felt like the entire staff worked as a team vs individuals and made a busy afternoon feel like we were the only customers present. Chips and salsa nailed it
Great atmosphere, Seating was comfortable, food was delicious. Some prices were a bit a high for the quantity served, but the quality and taste of the food offset the price. Compared to other Mexican restaurants near here this is one of the best. Service was on point.
Friends picked up Take Out and surprised me. I have eaten here before and it was the best Mexican dishes for miles around. I was reluctant at first, because take out always seems to take a back seat to fresh out of the oven. Pleasingly surprised; same good size portions, nothing missing and still the Best Mexican food for miles... Gracias
Somewhat decent Mexican food albeit smaller portions than I have ever seen for a Mexican restuarant though. I hear its the best Mexican restaurant in the area which is sad but hey I dont rate on a bell curve for an area. Food was just okay, definitely nothing to write home about but a tad better than your average taco truck The salsa was the best part of the meal but trying to get another one to dip the chips in took over 10 minutes and left me with few chips which took a while to get more of those. Service was seriously lacking as there were several empty tables open and the prices were quite high for Mexican food. It does have that US Mexican restuarant feel to it with Mexican music playing in the background. The bar was way too loud and too close to the restuarant to fully enjoy the meal.
I dont know whats up with all the bad reviews but those people must of just had some bad luck because today my co- worker and I ordered and picked it up, first time ever eating here and it was AMAZING!! Everything is homemade and fresh right down to the salsa!!! A little pricey but I see why, you could easily feed 2 people off those portions!!! Highly recommend this place and that was the best lunch I had in a long time!! My son will be so happy with the left- overs I bring him too!! Thanks!!!
Brought my spouse for her favorite burrito for her birthday! Met family there as well.Girl waiting on us was terrible! Got drinks wrong and 3 out of 4 dinners wrong!!Never had a problem before with the waiters there. Definitely going back but will ask for different wait staff!!
Great hidden gem! Staff is friendly. Good sized menu. Plenty of choices, but not overwhelming and the portions were a bit small. Prices are a little elevated, but given the economy...We had guac for appetizer. Salsa and chips are free. We both chose the combination platter. Your choice of about 6 enrees. Comes with rice, beans, crema and quac. Price was about $13.99.About the 3rd or 4th time my husband and I have been there. Well go back again.
The Good: The food was great. Five different dishes, all fresh and delicious. The Bad: The host, who is probably the manager or owner acts self-important, like they are doing the guests a favor. Also, the nearby beautiful pound is barely visible due to their new outdoor tent arrangement. It gets hot under this tent, and there are no fans to move the air. The waiting staff while tries hard, is inexperienced and amateurish. The Ugly: In the end and without warning they charged us more than $4 Non-Cash fee, like at some gas stations, one price for cash, another higher price for credit card. I took it out of their tip and will be reluctant to go back ever. There are other choices nearby, Mexican and otherwise. Avoid!
Ate here last night with my husband and the waitress was awful. She never said hi to us she walked up and said “drinks?” and she didn’t know anything about the menu. My husband asked for carne asada tacos and she didn’t know what that was. She was sitting on her phone every time we needed anything. She forgot a few things we asked for. Never asked how our meal was or if we wanted dessert. Another waitress (extremely friendly/smiley) stepped in at the end to help us because she could see our waitress wasn’t doing anything. Food was extremely overpriced for the quality. Second time eating here and disappointed both times with how expensive it was. Won’t be back this time.
Wouldnt even give it a star. We order from here numerous times and always get the same stuff. Tonight we ordered it and they gave us a total over the phone then when we got there to pick it up, they scammed us for money and charged us 5 more dollars on top of our total for themselves and probably put it in there pocket. Never again will they get our service. The food is good but weve had ALOT better so time to go back to those places. Making up your own totals will eventually catch up to you so best of luck!
Gave them a second chance. Food was horrible. Asked for a shrimp chimichanga. Came in a flour tortilla..typically those are made with corn so they crisp up. Packed with onions in some salty sauce. My lips were burning with one bite. Guacamole is worse than what you buy in the supermarket. And margarita lacked flavor and tequila, tasted like lime water. Definitely not going back.
El Patron is a wonderful, delicious, fun place to eat and drink! We look forward to visiting, and we always tell our friends. They have an outdoor seating area that gets bigger in warmer weather.Amazing drinks! Food platters are fresh, flavorful and generous portions. You cannot go wrong here! Make it part of your plans.
Love El Patrones, been going for years. Tonight, not so great. Called ahead to say that 2 of us would be ordering paella, which is NOT on the menu BUT they will do it. It takes extra time which we were prepared for. All good, except for the mussels. Definitely not fresh, not good and should have been out. CMon guys, youre so much better than this.
If I could give a 0 I would. It was absolutely gross. Had a hair in my food and when I told them all they did was apologize and take the plate. No offer of a replacement, no offer of a discount.. not one single thing was done except the plate taken. Thats horrible customer service and not what I expected when I decided to eat here.
Great hidden gem in Port Jervis. Margaritas amazing and HUGE! Fried Icecream lit on fire. Vegetarian? Get the tacos ask for additional veggies found in the menu. Staff super helpful and accommodating for allergy concerns. Guacamole = YUM! Chips and salsa amazing. Take out is always efficient and smooth!
Went to El Patron to celebrate my birthday. It was the first time I have left a zero tip. First, we were brought the wrong Appetizer. Then after and hour, we were asked if we wanted to place an order. We had order the same time we order our Appetizer. The waitor forgot to put in the order. Next, before we finished we got asked if we wanted to go boxes. No asking if we wanted desert or if we need anything else. Finally , the bill is brought with the charge for the Appetizer we did not order. It was the worse celebration dinner i have ever had.
I have eaten here on several different occasions and the food is always great tasting. Food is always fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The shrimp tacos are awesome the chicken wings are great and the calamari is good. The flan and churros are both delicious deserts. The homemade sangria is too die for. You get great service, large portions, and the prices are reasonable for great food.
We lived in Phoenix for 19 years and regularly ate at a Mexican restaurant that was featured as one of Travelocity and Phoenix magazines number one restaurants it was also featured on the last Super Bowles. I can honestly say El Patron was better. If you want excellent Mexican this is the place
Unprofessional place!!! Food was terrible. Manager/ owner, who was also our waiter tonight didnt follow up to check in once. This is a customer service industry and especially with things finally opening back up service should be ON point.I wont be surprised if this place goes under. I would not recommend. Terrible experience. Beware!!!!
Went in for lunch today. The server never said hello nor introduced herself. I ordered a combo two beef tacos and a beef chimichanga. I got a chicken chimichanga I told the server who grabbed my entire plate to take it to the kitchen. A few minutes later I was brought a chimichanga on a desert plate with nothing else. I didnt have lettuce, guacamole, or sour cream. The man who brought it out said you didnt have much on your plate. No apologies from anyone, no offer to bring out any accompaniments. I didnt bother eating it. Will never go there again!

2021-11-04Good bar and ambience. Dark wood makes it cozy and intimate. I had tasty calamari and a decent glass of wine and my friend enjoyed margaritas and tacos.Id definitely return and try other dishes from the large menu.

2021-10-03My wife and I found this place by random. It is the best Mexican food we have experienced in the 3 years living in the area. This place was the best. Great quality and very fresh!!! We will be bringing family here when they visit!! Everything tasted amazing and full of flavor.

2021-09-27Ordered lunch with my boyfriend. Service was very fast and friendly. The steak didn’t have much flavor but wasn’t dry, rice and beans were okay. The tortilla chips were not the best. Would’ve given three stars if it wasn’t for the churros. We were both blown away by how good the churros were. Would recommend if you’re passing by and want something to fill you up.

2022-03-03We visited El Patron with our large group on February 22, 2022. Despite the fact that the room was packed, the service was amazing, both fast, friendly, cheerful. And the food was awesome... I got their fish tacos which I loved although there was so much I couldnt finish. The flavors were the real deal, from the salsa that accompanied the chips to everything on my plate. And the three of us at our tables that got the Margaritas were plenty happy with them, celebrating National Margarita Day, no less. This is the place for Mexican in our area, hands down.

2022-04-05I’ve eaten at my share of Mexican restaurants, and I can confidently say those were the BEST tacos I’ve ever had. Every ingredient was FRESH, and they were generous with the beef.Everything else was A+: the service (Jose A. clearly genuinely loves what he does and cares for his customers), the atmosphere, and the prices. Even the parking lot was nice! I know that’s a weird thing to say, but it was spotless. =D

2022-06-17This place is great. The food is delicious, service is good, too many good choices to only go once. The guacamole was very good but was a smaller serving than expected. Cant wait to go back to try more. Fried ice cream is also one of my favorites and they do it well.

2021-08-24We always eat here when we spend the summer. Since Covid, we eat outside which is delightful but wish they still had the tent. Guacamole is excellent (I completely do not understand the negative review from someone earlier), and the food is always very flavorful. Our favorite dishes since we don’t eat meat or the shrimp tacos, shrimp quesadillas, veggie burrito, ceviche, and our MOST favorite the Mariscada Veracruzana Which is an absolutely delicious combination of shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, mussels prepared in a delicious red sauce with a great combination of caramelized onions, cilantro served with yellow rice. The staff is also always accommodating and very pleasant and efficient, and the margaritas and sangria are both great!
