Try their house margarita in happy hours. Really gives a good buzz. Not sugary ones like others. Chorizo tacos were yummy. Would have preferred side of red onions but prices of sides were little steep. Enchiladas were right portions and not too cheesy. A little more attention to the service would have been appreciated.
We were worried that service would be slow, but the food came within 15 minutes and was very good. I had the vegetarian selection #6 which consisted of a spinach chalupa, quesadilla, and burrito. All fresh and cheesy but not greasy, which I find to be typical of many Mexican restaurants. We also got the grande special, which was huge, a very good deal for 12.50, and again fresh and tasty. My pinot grigio was a reasonable 5.50 and out guacamole was good after I added some table salt, pepper, lime, and salsa. I would recommend this place and hope they keep it up. The only thing I would like to see improved is added spice or flavor, though, I understand that this type of Mexican cuisine is generally not particularly flavorful, at least in my experience.
Great atmosphere, great staff, great food. Almost makes me want to write a poor review in attempts to keep the restaurant to myself. The prices are great for the portions. Just everything about this place was super enjoyable. Great job guys. Makes me happy shenanigans is gone now.
Nice place. Portions are not as big as some other mexican restaurants but are enough for a filling meal ( just dont expect to have a take out container of leftover rice and beans to throw out 5 days later). It got really loud as they seated a large party and started playing music but it was late and we were leaving anyways.
Two meals at this is place is enough to convince it is quite a traditional kitchen as much sought. Traditional/ house margaritas arent too sweet and use good liquor. Enchiladas are really good especially with red sauce (green sauce is lill sour). chorizo taco was pretty good and less oily although had extra salt.. maybe fresh onion, fried jalepenos along with it would have done good balance.. on a whole A+ experience for Buffalo! Recommended.
El Toro is a place I have come to love so much Ive become a major regular! Their food is truly authentic and consistently delicious every time. I started coming here when they first opened. I have never been let down. The manager is sweet and warm and the staff are warm & welcoming as well. If there was one thing I missed from one of my past relationships it was authentic homemade Mexican food! They bring that and then some!!! This place is my favorite restaurant for Mexican food and I hope it never changes!!! You can litterally buy anything off the menu and if you have low spice tolerance they will guide you as their staff is knowledgeable. I can not speak highly enough about El Toro!!!
First of all, the fish soup is to die for! Fresh veggies, huge chunks of fish, diced avocado in a tomato base. The aroma is warm and inviting like home. If youre thinking fishy smelling something, think again. SO good.Everything Ive ordered has been delicious, and the portions are good and the price is great. I always have leftovers. This place is the best!
Found another great local gem! I love exploring the different techniques and presentation styles among restaurants with similar menus. El Toro did not disappoint, the food was authentic and very good, the atmosphere was relaxed, a great selection of spirits with a bartender to match, our server knew the menu and was attentive. All in all a enjoyable dinner.
Went here for the first time for my B-day last night and the food is soooo good. Mexican food is my favorite so I try a lot of restaurants. My go to meal that most local mexican restaurants offer is La Bandera with a chile relleno on the side. This place, by far has the best version I have ever had. The rice is also delicious and the specialty drinks are a bit pricey but are huge. I ordered the regular size mango frozen margarita which is almost $10 but I got a small fish bowl size drink plus you can actually taste the alcohol unlike most other places. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of Mexican decor/dark lighting inside and the overwhelming mildew smell in the bathroom. But the food and drinks are definetly 5 star quality imo. I do not understand the few bad reviews they have on here.
The food here is fabulous! The people are wonderful! My husbands go to is the chicken fajitas and they are so good. I just had the Tacos de Carnitas and they are amazing! The best carnitas I have ever had! There are so many choices on the menu and I am looking forward to trying all of them!
Well ambiance was not very festive, seemed almost subdued, i understand the present social situation and well Ive been to other restaurants and their presentation was a bit more colorful and fun. The food was ok, the steak and chorizo tacos I had were very tasty but the portions left a little to be desired, beans and rice were pretty much standard as any other establishment. Service was pretty good, the waitress was friendly, bilingual and courteous. The drinks were actually the reason I came here, good Mexican beer selection and good frozen margaritas. Pretty decent Mexican restaurant.
The Food was Great and the also Good Cost what I have received !:But this young Man needed to have better Custmer Service ! He didnt know how to make Good eye Contact! It was My First Time there, but didnt know how to keep a good Customer Relationship.. He was Very Nice Person .. But Needs more Work on his serving Skills ... Good Luck Jason !
So the chain store that I usually go to has been getting worse over time and has been making their portions smaller while raising their prices. You know the one Im talking about, sounds like timotle. Anyways so I decided to try this one instead. I ordered a fajita burrito this is not your everyday burrito this was huge and full of flavor. Its literally too big that they have to put the lettuce, guac, rice, and beans all on the side. Tasted delicious and my food was ready in 10 minutes. Im definitely going to be coming back here again also they gave free chips and salsa with the food which the other store charges for it. And the customer service was spectacular.
Ordered takeout from here for the first time tonight and were so happy we did! Food was excellent! Portions and prices were also great! Our three kids loved their tacos and quesadillas! Even the three year old that never actually bites a taco picked up the whole thing and ate it! (She normally just eats the filling). We definitely plan on being repeat customers!
Pretty much zero positives to take from my experience. Food was mediocre. Service was pretty terrible. At the end of my meal I waited more than 20 minutes to get the bill, my waiter was busy doing serving take out orders. In my opinion you should prioritize the customers sitting in your restertaunt. I felt like there was no respect for my time and how I use my time is very important to me. I see no reason to give this place a second chance. I dont understand how this is the number one mexican place on yelp.
As we entered we saw how much people love the food but we had to wait to be seated for over 10 minutes. Our waitress was handling all tables besides two. She was drinking and service was very poor. Our drinks were empty for a long while before our food was served. The bathrooms were nasty, no paper towels and the toilet was running. The dining room was dirty as well. The food was subpar, good but not worth it. I would never go again.
Waited over 45 minutes for a takeout order (Los Banderitos enchiladas, 4 crane asada tacos, aztecan guacamole and hot salsa with a strawberry dacquiri). 30 mins after ordering they had to come back out to ask about the tacos order (ground beef or steak?).Finally got home an hour later...taco order was wrong. Called ahead to get resolved and they said theyd have food ready when I arrived. But when I got there 20 mins later, I still had to wait. Got home and tortillas were all torn up.My husband ended up discarding their tortillas and making his own tacos using their underseasoned steak.I had to mash up the diced avocado and pico de gallo to make my own guacamole.Just a very messy presentation of all the food ordered overall.Carne asada was not well seasoned. Ground beef was runny, which was weird. The menu looked better than what is actually served. Left much to be desired. Very disappointing. Very dissatisfied.
Walk into a bar with a few tables. We have a party of 6.. I was told this place has great food... So im not going to lie.. I felt sorry for the little young brunette.. at first ...cause she got hit with the 6 top that I walked in with and a couple more tables of 2 tops..But dam she had it on lock..She had everything under control.. & continuedto refill my raspberry Ice tea. Yes the food was great. I ordered the chicken fajitas! Yes and yes.. .. Very good!!
First time here and everything from the service to the food was excellent! The portion sizes were huge, and we all took home leftovers. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. The bar area is large enough to hang out with friends and watch the game, too! Family friendly, date night ready, and hang out with friends... This place has it all.
First time at El Toro for late lunch before 3pm. Cant beat the price, quality, and food portion. It was really good and fresh! Chips and Salsa great too and friendly staff. Impressed by menu selection of various dishes and drinks! Will definitely visit again! One suggestion - light up the restaurant sign or make it more visible for customers passing by!
As soon as they set the food down I could smell the amazing favors ... The food was right on and the margarita was great too... I would definitely come back and plan on recommending many friends. Hopefully they get some out door patio furniture soon. This could be a prime summer spot!
Honestly I feel like this place wasn’t as good as I thought it was! Tonight my family and I odered from here and we’re not that impressed we spent 72$ just to have my moms food have a long piece of hair in her food. I wouldn’t call this place a ethnic Mexican, it just wasn’t the greatest ethnic Mexican I’ve ever had. I’m not very pleased speaking that there was hair in my moms food that wasn’t hers. That right there is a red flag. Hair nets should automatically be a MUST no excuses! That’s a huge turn off. Never again will I go here. I’m very disappointed, speaking that it was my first time trying it. I would go here if you wanna find hair in you’re food. And know it probably isn’t sanitary. If the staff isn’t taking hair nets seriously.
I can’t get enough of El Toro... authentic Mexican with can’t beat prices. Plus they have recipes that aren’t your boring run of the mill “Americanized” Mexican. Seriously addicted to this place. If you don’t want to go just order door dash! Just as good. Plus they always include amazing chips and salsa for free!!!!
Placed DoorDash order before 4pm. Our Dasher has been at El Toro waiting for over an hour. Very poorly managed - now 6:30 and our order hasnt been made.Edit: Dasher was presented with our order at 6:37; arrived 6:43, entirely lukewarm. It had clearly been sitting there for a very long time. Why the restaurant made the Dasher wait is beyond me. Would have been very good if it was the correct temperature. Unlikely that well give them another chance.
Second time having food from this place.. First time I went in was right before this Social Distancing Quarantine mess for lunch. Fajita was delicious! Portion size was more than fair for a Lunch priced Fajita and service was darn good too! Had a hankering for Mexican and figured Id go back seeing as its close to my house. Wasnt very pleased this time. Got a Fajita with shrimp, Chicken Breast and steak along with side goodies. The breast was just a lil flat floppy thing that looked like someone carved around it and used the trimmings for another dish. 4 decent sized shrimp 🍤 lil thin steak and some sort of sauce that was supposed to be cheese. Rice was blaaah and very enadequate portion all around..I guess they have to make up for the Quarantine loss but they have to know it probably wont be worth the future lost buisness. Ill consider giving them another shot but Im not sure.
Went for Mothers Day. Food was delicious, some different choices. An upgraded guacamole is actually similar to a pico de Gallo with avocado in it & very good. Tried the chicken & shrimp & pineapple fajitas, YUMMY!! Its worth the upcharge to forgo house margaritas & go for the Traditional formula. Service excellent. Prices good. Well definitely be back!!
Food was good. Fresh and tastey. Not busy for a Saturday. I would have the waitress wear less perfume so it doesnt rub off on plates and drinking glasses. Could smell and taste perfume while having our dinner. Other than that it was good, cold beer and quick service. Queso Fundido could be a little thicker not as watery and more chorizo in it than jalapeno slices. Seem alittle light on the sausage. But it was tastey. Need to keep a bar tender on staff by bar. Nobody tending the bar!!! How ya gonna make $$$$ First time there sat at bar took 11mins to get a drink???? Associates walk by me several times and not once acknowledged my presence at the bar and it was .....slow!! Need to tweek it alittle. Too much competition out there!!
Short story: tried this place for the first time Sat Feb 8, around 5:45. Got seated, waited 20 mins before someone finally came to get our drink order, and then an additional hour on food. We finally left at 7:15 without getting our food because we couldnt stand to wait any longer. We tried to be as patient as possible but just hit our limit.
Lunch with my sibs. Extensive selection with very reasonable prices. Brother and I chose the carnitas dinner. The pork was very tasty and so tender! Sister had a lunch special, a chili reyenello and crispy taco, also very tasty. Will be taking my husband for a visit for sure 😋
First time here. Its taco Tuesday. Dining room was half full by the time we got here shortly after 5pm. Took over an hour for our food to come, plates were scalding hot but the food was lukewarm. Only 2 people working front of the house which may have been the issue. Will not be back
Environment, not bad.Music, not badDrinks, tried the margarita, just ok.Food, taco salad w/beef. Wayyyy to much sour cream.Granted this is the first 3 mo from opening. Look. guys, you need work, but it could be great. Make stronger margaritas, and make better food. 😁
Great atmosphere, the house made salsa and warm tortilla chips are fantastic, the food is as far as I know as authentic as getting food from a street vendor in Mexico, it was delicious and freshly made, the warm and soft flour tortillas were nice and wrapped in foil to keep the heat, I had the diabla tacos which were not to hot but had a kick, the pico de gaio was good and comes with a side plate of brown rice and bean paste, the wife had a shrimp taco, the only thing I would say is mozzarella is a weird pairing for seafood but it worked nonetheless, the alcohol is very well priced, much cheaper than many other places, definitely a trip worth taking

2022-05-12I would probably go four and a half if I could. Food was good, but this type of Mexican fair is now readily available. It needs something to set it apart. I have lived in Buffalo too long. Because now a jumbo burrito comes with an expectation of truly massive proportions. Which I did not get from El Toro. It was maybe two bites smaller than when you get at Lloyds. Food was very good, location is convenient. Service was very pleasant. They need a signature dish. And the guac does not excite.

2022-04-26Went for lunch with some friends and really enjoyed the experience and of course, the food. I ordered the Texas special which came with a chimichanga and a quesadilla with either beef or chicken. It also came with a little salad. it was a very good meal and I ordered it again. For drinks, I had the house margarita which came on the rocks and then the regular size came in a very large glass. I was not complaining.Definitely will be returning in the future.

2021-08-03Visited the restaurant to quench Mexican craving. Food with delicious, server was pleasant, and good atmosphere. Indoor is slightly darker rather than bright. Loved the free chips and salsa. Definitely recommended.

2022-03-05We live close enough to walk to. Most times we order from here we get take out. It’s very good. One of our top 3 or 4 places to go. Takeout is as good as dining in. We enjoy the salsa very much. Has a good kick.

2022-06-23Awesome people with awesome food and drinks. We were little late and arrived few minutes back before closing. Yet we were served nicely and treated to best. I happily gave good tips to these people. Whoever served us that time. Thank you for food.

2022-04-23We order from El Toro frequently, and the food is always delicious. Today we were wondering if they have a new cook, because the food was even better than usual! The guacamole and the rice were extra tasty, the Chimichangas the best weve ever had!

2022-08-22The food was so bad. The chips and salsa were the only decent thing....and even with the salsa there was one random extremely spicy spot when the rest was not.But the food.... oh man. It was bad. My three tacos I ordered I could not even get to reach my mouth because when I tried to pick it up the shell was so soggy that the whole thing completely fell apart before I even could reach it to my mouth. Happened with all three. They were all so sopping wet and soggy snd gross that I literally could not eat it.My girlfriend got the chimichanga with beef tips. The beef tips looked like dog food. Neither of us ate our food. We payed and left. Money well wasted. Id rate it zero stars if I could. complete waste of money. Also not to mention the entire restaurant was practically empty but they sat us shoulder to shoulder with a family with kids.... just the icing on the cake. This place was a disaster. Point blank period.

2022-05-05I love the food here. But for everyone who was here tonight waiting 2+ hours for their takeout, someone could have at least offered a beverage or a discount or gift certificate or something. Is there such a thing as customer service anymore?
