It was my first time experience, interior was interesting and I would give 3/5 for service, because we changed mind for one item and asked to replace it with something else in like 1-2 mins after sending the order. You cannot change once you put the order in.We had burritos, guac chips and few more items and they were really good. The mock-tails and cocktails were good too.The overall experience was good. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again.
There should be more options on the menu for dinner time. The horchata is delicious. The tacos just come as is, nothing on the side. The nachos were very delicious as well. I didnt really like the salsa from the salsa and chips but I think that is just personal preference. Overall, I think its an okay place. Its very beautiful but the food isnt all there for me.
Incredibly mediocre Mexican food experience. Someone with me described it as Mexican food at Disneyland, but I think the Mexican pavilion does better Mexican food.I was hoping for really flavorful, authentic, hole in the wall flavors (hoping optimistically since I was in Fifi) but the food was boring and sterile. High quality ingredients and good execution so Ill give them that but needed more flavor.
We had made reservations and placed at a table that was slanted, they never offered to move us and the service was horrible. It took forever to even order or receive our food and when we got it, it was very plain. The margaritas were good, we got the frozen blood orange pitcher. The waitress never came once to check on us or ask how our food was or we would have asked for something different. We got the original guacamole and shrimp and chicken tacos but it was like there was no seasoning. I would recommend going somewhere else.
What a terrific spot! The nacho mama appetizer was plenty and addicting. Lots of great flavors in this dish and the hot sauce is out of this world good! Also really liked the chicken quesadillas. Also really filling and delish! Goes well with the sour cream and hot sauce
My finance and I visited El Vez on April 8, 2022. We had a taste for Mexican food and this place was right around the corner from the Conrad hotel where we stayed. We did not have reservations, however, we were able to get a table. The staff were very kind and very attentive. We ordered the guacamole and chips as our appetizer. For our meal, I ordered the Nachos Mama w/shrimp and chicken, frozen blood orange margarita (see picture looks like a pizza) and my fiance ordered the Black Bass (aka Pescado A LA Plancha see picture). My Nachos were just ok. However, my fiances Bass was good. I rated it a three because of the staff, ambience and the Bass which were good. In addition, food was somewhat pricey and Nachos were just ok. Moreover, the water is $8 a bottle.
It’s a really great ambiance for sure. The seating staff at the door was friendly and welcoming. Our server took real long time to get our food, we had to strike him down to ask where is the food..! Firstly they brought the nachos on table which was really great and every bite of that tasted really very well. The wait was for sure long he brought one more plate to the table but the third plate was again missing, we asked another server about our third plate they said it’s coming and he brought it out, it almost took 10 mins to get the mahi taco. For the prices we paid the food was really less in quantity. But It’s ok I guess because of the city prices. But never coming back again.
I’ve been to the original in Philly many times over the last ten+ years and I was thrilled to find out there was a location in nyc. Definitely not the same vibe as in Philly. But the food here is great and it’s still a great time as ever in a group setting. Service was great too. Not gonna lie but it was a bit dark in the place.
Lovely place to go for brunch with friends / family after the Van Gogh Experience which is just a stone’s throw away. They have outdoor dining - perfect for people watching and a nice ambiance inside. Attentive staff, too! I was very happy with my order: Smoked Salmon Benedict which came in with poached eggs and blue cornbread. So tasty and delectable. I partnered it with the Banana Diaries cocktail (just heavenly, imo!) and I now have to place this on my top 10 of best brunches in NYC. A must visit in the area and I’m definitely coming back!
Health screening was a priority. They checked your well being when you announce yourself at the desk. The space is fantastic. The Sparkling White Sangria was awesome! The food was delicious. The guacamole was a little small but yummy. The Fish Tacos were just okay. The kids menu was nice. Check this place out when in the lower Manhattan area! It’s close to the Hudson River so you can take a nice riparian walk after. The ferry terminal from NJ is a block away.
Had brunch here for a friends birthday. Really nice place! Great drinks, amazing food! Very friendly service! WARNING ⚠! This place has the biggest pancakes 🥞 ever!! 🤯 You probably wont be able to finish them by yourself! Trust me, I tried! Lol 😂. Definitely a sharable.
The food was great no complaints about the food. The front desk where they were seating people was an unpleasant experience. One guy and woman were in charge of the seating. One woman was extremely rude. Just not happy to be doing her job. I had my kids with me and we were waiting to go inside the actual door, she was at the door. All I said was excuse me, so I could get my kids inside, she replied by saying “I see you, can’t you see I’m doing something.” Which was extremely inappropriate, especially since it was very hot outside. I had my four year old daughter and my 16 month old toddler. When you meet someone like that at the door whose extremely rude and just not wanting to be there in the very beginning, it ruins the whole experience for you. I wanted to leave right away, but my friends told me to try the food. Definitely needs to be better trained. This was my experience on Memorial Day!

2022-05-14Wow! El Vez really impressed us with their restaurant environment and amazing menu! The food tasted authentic and fresh, and the staff was honest about wait time, which we greatly appreciated. Omar, our server, was a wonderful personality and we can’t thank him enough for being a fantastic server. I went with the Chicken Enchiladas which comes with a side of beans and rice. A perfect duo! We also tried the Nacho Mama as an appetizer and it was delicious! If you are ever in the area and looking for good food, try this place out!

2022-04-18No salt on the food.Slow serviceLazy confused staffManager didnt know how to solve problemsHappy hour only at bar... dumb ideaMargaritas had no alcoholFood was cold.Restaurant was not too busy but still got cold flavorless food and waitress who didnt listen to order so it had to be redone... not 1 time but 2 times. The street corn and tortilla soup was all that we liked. All 5 of us did not like our enchilada entrees, nachos, or 3 pork taco plates.Plates were $18 to 20 something each. Alcohol drinks were about 12 to 15 dollars each... soda was $3.50 and be prepared to ask for refills... our waitress refill nothing. Quite expensive since food had no good taste.

2022-06-17My first time here the other night for dinner. When I got there it was pretty slow but within the hour things really picked up. The service was good and the staff were polite and kind. The restaurant was clean and had a nice vibe. Had the nachos and salsa and order of the Carnitas Tacos. The chips could have def used a bit more salt. The salsa rested fresh. The tacos were good. The meat was juicy. I would have liked the tortillas doubled up because they did start to break a bit from the juice from the pork.

2022-04-03Excellent customer service as usual. We come here almost every week and every-time the food is fresh and delicious! There isn’t a single time when the food doesn’t taste good. Everything from the menu is so yummy. We live close by and this is our go-to food. We usually get: Nacho Mama with birria (which are excellent), carnitas tacos, guacamole, plantains, and you can’t go wrong with any choice of margaritas. Classic & strawberry margaritas are my favorite! Great vibe and beautiful decor inside. There is also a Photo Booth for who ever likes to make some memories and cute pics.Small tip: on weekends go with reservations! Walk-ins might have a bit of a wait time.

2022-05-13A great place with good vibes and upscale Mexican cuisine. Limited food menu but everything looks great. The mahi mahi tacos, nacho mama and chips and guac were especially tasty and worth it. We ordered tequila flights, that was also smooth and strong. Chicken enchiladas, zucchini quesadilla was average. Cocktails are good.

2022-04-07My favorite meal while visiting NYC. Went here for brunch and had cornbread eggs Benedict. Was a very delicious, unique take on a classic dish. Drinks and other food was also very good. Staff was attentive and decor is entertaining.

2021-12-20My 2nd visit here. Fantastic food. I had the short rib enchiladas, nachos and churros. Amazing decor. Youll notice around the restaurant that there are a lot of painting of Elvis. This is actually El Vez - a famous Mexican Elvis impersonator that the restaurant was named after. Thank you to the wonderful waiter and staff that told us about the Elvis history and kept the drinks and food coming! Definitely one of my favorites.

2021-08-13Let me just start out by saying we had a good experience. The food was good and fresh. I love the vibe and I’m happy we went. The wait staff experience was nothing spectacular but wasn’t bad either, just did the bare minimum. I’ve also had better Mexican food and drinks for a lot less money. So should you go here yes. Is it my favorite…. No. I recommend Sombreros in Midtown over this location.

2021-10-29Service was a tad bit slow but I think it’s due to the timing my boyfriend and I were dining in. Aside from that, the food and drinks were absolutely delicious and our waitress was super sweet and helpful. The decor and ambiance is truly one of a kind and the atmosphere felt very cozy. Great for a date night or dining in with a group of friends. I will definitely be back here!
