Elbow Room in other cities:
Obviously they have amazing chicken wings but I am extremely disappointed in the service. I went here, paid cash, and was rushing and did not count my change. When in the car I realized they barely gave me change back so I greatly overpaid. I didn’t return back to Elbow Room for a while after this occurrence. Tonight I decided to give up on my grudge and get their food. My total was $32.40, I gave her $50. The lady gave me back $7.60 instead of $17.60. Of course I noticed it right away and asked for correct change, she seemed more guilty than apologetic. I look very young and maybe naive to some and feel like they may like to overcharge some people, it’s just fishy this happened twice in a row for me. Just count your change carefully!
Have to give a low review. Years ago we ordered wings here quite a bit. Two days ago we ordered takeout, mild wings crispy and medium wings... Good size wings and cooked well. Unfortunately they were drenched and soaked thru with the orange greasy sauce. Also the container had a good bunch in the bottom so they sat in it. Wings had no real flavor and the taste was just greasy. Gave them to three other family members, same reaction, we threw out the ones left. Dont remember them being like that. Hopefully was a one time deal. Too many other places with good wings locally to choose from if needed.
Personally, best wings ever, but its really the incredible blue cheese! Ive asked to buy in larger quantities but they dont sell it that way... homemade. Wings are typically spot on, but occasionally not as crispy as I like.... but its talky just a conduit for that blue cheese!
My family and I are visiting in north PA from south Louisiana and decided to go into Elmira. We got hungry and found this place. I got chicken tenders and my parents got the burger. Both soooo good! Highly recommend and if we ever make our way back up north, we’ll be back!
We had never eaten here before but I had a gift certificate so thought we would try it. We each ordered cheeseburger and onion rings. Specifically asked for well done burger. When we went to eat the burgers both were very pink/red inside. Also red juice in the styrofoam container. They didnt taste like hamburger at all. I would have asked waitress to take back and cook more if it wasnt take out and I was already home. Onion rings were ok and it was a generous portion. Wont be eating here again .
The food was AMAZING! Especially the Sweet Thai Chili wings! At first we thought it was closed. But when we walked to the back of the building we saw the entrance. And just a heads up its Cash Only. There is a big parking lot and on the front of the building it says for rent but remember walk to The Back. But we loved the food and kind service! We REALLY want to recommend this place!!
Very awesome wings, for those who have never been. I had the Sweet Thai Chili wings. Was expecting more heat, but got more sweet instead. But if a bite, but would like to have more!!! Still tasty! Waffle fries were done nicely! Crispy, but soft inside. Well be back in the future to try a different flavor!!!
Everyone was socially distanced appropriately, and the food was great! Wings are definitely a go-to at The Elbow Room. But tonight I went with the steak salad. Who knew my salad would come with such a large portion of steak! I will definitely be getting this over and over again!
Hands down the best home made blue cheese Ive ever eaten. The portions are crazy, 14 15 wings for 11 dollars, if you like wings this is the place to stop. Went on a recommendation as I was in town for work and wasnt disappointed. I drive a hour out of my way just to stop back for the wings. Bring cash they dont except cards.
Decided to try due to reviews. Wings were just fabulous, and fries with gravy....yum! Order the WINGS, medium heat and you will not regret it. Husband ordered brisket sandwich. Tasted funny to him, myself and daughter, so we left the whole sandwich. A lot of locals here, who are very friendly. Staff great.
Excellent place to run into friends and get a great chicken wing dinner. Always crowded, yet quiet... and I like that. Been a favorite for years. The only issue Ive had is that they dont take credit cards, cash only, and Im not crazy about some of their new menu items, like the pretzel bites. But all-in-all, locals love this place and have for years.
Dont get me wrong.. this place has some of the best wings, but I was at Arnot Ogden and couldnt leave because I was in the baby ward. You are not allowed to leave and come back due to the quarantine restrictions. I asked them if they could bring the wings over and she said, no we cant, our delivery driver will be here at 530 and he can bring them to you.. okay.. so you cant walk 100 ft over to the hospital and just drop them off at the door... yeah just lost my business. If they didnt have such great food I would have given them 1 star. They must not want business during these times. Thanks for nothing Elbow Room.
Best wings around, and a dozen means whatever we can fit in this bowl or to go. They have amazing staff, food and service. Bring cash though, no cards! Dont change a thing you guys are doing. I dont live in the area anymore but make sure to go for hot wings everytime Im back!
Imma be honest, I went along for a get-together here with the incentive of good wings and it didnt disappoint. Big bowl heaping full and sauced well and piping hot. You can tell they were cooked crispy before being sauced.+The bleu cheese is ace. Actually has chunks galore. The staff seemed a little confused on where to bring orders sometimes, so maaaaybe a little work on that is needed, but overall decent place.
Stopped at the Elbow Room on our way home from a weekend of wine tasting. Its a total townie bar but it was so good! My husband and I ordered the pretzel sticks appetizer which was exactly what I wanted! It was slightly crispy, buttery and served with a cheese sauce. I got boneless wings and my husband got regular wings plus fries. They were great! A little tip, if you want cheese sauce, order it on the side or they put so much the fries get soggy. Would have been 5 stars if they took credit cards or the local woman sitting next to me didnt smell of the cigarets she kept going outside to smoke. Moral of the story, if you like wings, you must go!
Terrible service! Don’t bother coming here. I ordered two dozen wings for the super bowl last year and was severely disappointed. I called three days ahead and was told my order would be “no problem”. I got there and waited for an hour for wings that never came. I checked several times (after paying) and was told that they’d “be out soon”. My order was never filled and I got my money back. Worst part was that I missed kickoff.
Generally not a place I stop as I live about 50 minutes away, however was in the area recently so decided to stop for a dozen wings. They use to be great. I was very disappointed. The chicken was tough and grisly. I finally threw the remainder away. I kept hoping the next piece would be okay but never did get a good one. Maybe a bad cut or perhaps cooked incorrectly.
Fun little bar next to the hospital. Theyre cash only which Im not a big fan of. There is an ATM if you need to pull out some cash. However, food is awesome. The wings are great and one order can feed a small family! Burgers and chicken sandwich were amazing as well. Location is pretty small but they have a little outdoor patio area too. Staff is very friendly.
Ordered some ribs for lunch on our first visit, at the bar. Note: seems to be a cash only place. The barbeque sauce proved great. Had a large portion, yet the meat seemed a bit tough to me.Located near the graveyard where Mark Twain is buried. I suspect there are mostly local customers. Probably wont return any time soon..
Ive been eating the wings here since I was 6 years old. They are THE BEST. and so is the blue cheese. I crave it! I dont live in Elmira anymore. But whenever Im in town the elbow room (and kountry krullers for breakfast) are the only places I eat. Always consistent and perfect
I have been in food service for 32 years I have worked in a pub in Washington DC that was one of the finer places I worked the sandwich patty melt I had tonight at the Elbow Room tops them all and of course their wings are absolutely delicious excellent hospitality highly recommended
Bar room restaurant, place your order at the bar and they bring your food to youre table. Known for wings but they have burgers, sandwiches, and salads too. Salads arent fancy basically a head of romaine lettuce with a couple veggies. Very nice and clean facility, friendly staff.
Its been forever since Ive been back in Elmira but should I ever pass through my beloved college town again, the Elbow Room is a place Ill gladly spend whatever spare money I have. Great bartenders, incredible (Whole) wings, and excellent fries. The best place in the city to drink cold beer and enjoy incredible bar food. When I think of my time in Elmira, I cant untangle it from the Elbow Room. Definitely an Elmira institution.
Food is always amazing. Portions are ample. We order out from work at lunch and even a large order wait time is 15 min or less. I cant say enough great things about this establishment. Please note. They do not take credit or debit. There is an atm there with lower than normal fees. Come prepared.
I was not expecting to be in Elmira for the night, but due to some misfortune, it turned out to be to wonderful night. We Google search places to eat in the area and the Elbow Room came up on top of the search. Great establishment, clean, friendly staff, awesome staff that took care of us and great tasting food. So Elbow Room, Im sure Ill be seeing you again.
Sat at a round table got looked at by waitressshe while cleaned tables. I got menu and looked at it, went to bar thought someone was going to wait on us. a lady came in went to the end of the bar got waited on with no problem well that was enough to tell me to leave wasnt getting waited on so off we left .
I realize 5 stars may seem a bit of a reach for this place, but I must emphasize that I rate all of these establishments based upon the fulfillment of purpose. Just because its got 5 stars, doesnt mean it competes with the Four Seasons in NY, nor does the Four Seasons deserve 5 stars if I get a subpar blackened filet. I give stars in relation to what the establishment is established as, and explain, accordingly. In this case, Im giving the Elbow Room 5 stars. Its a pub next to a hospital. Thats its purpose. When a physician, nurse, or tech needs to get guilty food and unload after walking miles in the shoes of one of the most depressing and underappreciated jobs, this place is there. When a Dad needs to make a stop on his way home after a late night visit to his kid in the NICU, disheartened at the thought of another night of leaving the hospital without his youngest, this is the stop. 4 years later, with another kid sitting with his wife in the maternity ward, same guy needs to get some food that doesnt taste like styrofoam... this is where he went.Basically, theyve taken good care of me and many people who are at the hospital and likely not having a very good day; in some cases, the worst of their lives. Its not haute cuisine, but it has always been exactly what I needed. And they serve alcohol, because some nights you need that.

2020-02-22Cash only. ATM on site but I think the fee was $4+. You order at the bar and then the food is brought to your table. We had a large party of 12 and came for lunch. Sat in the back which was a little on the chilly side so wear layers. Bathrooms were clean. We came because we heard they have the best wings on town. Everyone in our party who ordered some said they were fantastic. I ordered the grilled cheese. It was undercooked so it was more like a cheese sandwich. But it was still good. Ordered boneless wings for the kids because they dont have a kids menu. Kids enjoyed their food. Next time we come back to this area, well be visiting again.

2022-06-10We often get take-out for dinner from here. The food is always fresh and consistently good, generous portions. We always call ahead because they are so busy with in-house.

2021-04-29Nice place, clean, rather good wings and food. It was really nice with such a limited crowd and low noise. It felt more like a restaurant than a bar. The craft beer is limited, but they carry Southern Tier Brewing. Their bar seems fairly stocked with a few limits.

2022-07-01Awesome place to connect with friends..staff is very tolerant and accommodating when we stretch our lunch hour into 2. Generous glass of wine compared to many places that under-pour and overcharge.

2021-12-059/21. Oh, How the mighty have fallen! Used to be best wings anywhere. They were not great, just ok, a year ago. TERRIBLE this time. Not just bad, but gross. Ended up throwing 4 dozen wings in garbage! Not sure what is going on, but the wings were Tiny, Flavorless, Rubbery, and Gross. I guess real Elbow Room wings are gone and pass into legend. Shameful!!!2/5/20 Havent been to ER in a while. Had always been a favorite wing place. Last year they had a few health code issues. Thought we would give them another shot. Service still great. Tuna salad good, wings out fast...but low and behold-mo not the same old wings! Just regular bar wings. Sauce is still same great sauce, but just big fatty regular wings. Sooo disappointed!! Anyone that thinks these are best, never had the old whole wings.Prob wont go out of my way for these anymore. Sad. P.s. The fries are coated Sisco fries, not fresh, or gluten free. Is it really that hard to make fries!?!3 years ago: Probably the best wings anywhere. Its a great , neighborhood bar. Super staff. Great food. Huge bottle beer selection.
