Dined there there three times, and was very happy with their calamari and grilled fish. Their Greek salad is excellent too. No menu , since they serve fresh fish and menu would have to change every day. Only problem is with the parking on the adjacent streets..I drive there specially from NJ.
This place does not have a menu, the waiter tells you all the items available. The tzatziki sauce was very refreshing (lots of cucumbers) and the grilled octopus is a must. The fish is by far the best fish Ive had in a long time. We had branzino, red snapper and St. Peters. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
This is by far the best place to go for fish in NYC. The food is always fresh and delicious. My family and I have frequented this restaurant for over 20 years. In the summer the outdoor garden is great for gathering with friends and family. The wait staff have always been slow and inattentive but for those who frequent the restaurant it has become part of the appeal. In short, if you are looking for fresh fish at reasonable prices, in a relaxed setting. This is your place!
I’ve been coming here for about 10 years now. Since the first day I walked into this place I felt like family. The owner who passed was an amazing man and always made sure everyone had a great experience and since then his family has done a fantastic job maintaining the restaurant. The food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. The waiters are always pleasant and give good advice on what to try. I can’t say anything else other than it’s one of those places that once you try it, you’ll be coming back again and again.
Fish was great. Prices reasonable. Waiter below average. Head waiter wouldnt let me sit where I wanted on a Friday afternoon with absolutely no other customers because the place might fill up and he needed the table. Really? No other customers at all. Not going again.
This restaurant is excellent!!! The food is delicious and the portions are huge!! And the most important thing, the people are really really nice. It is natural for them to make you feel like in home. We had a wonderful time because of them. They even gave us a dessert for free ♥️. I loved them.
Great place to eat a healthy, delicious meal -- especially on a day when its beautiful out. Not sure if theres a bad choice on the menu, everything we ordered was so fresh. Service can be a little slow here, but its understandable. Be ready to flag a server down. This place has a family, home-y vibe to it. Id recommend it for a group dinner, if you can convince your friends to make it out to Queens. Definitely get the Greek salad. The feta cheese, onions, and giant tomatoes with the vinegar are so good. I am a big fan of their lemon potatoes too. Its also BYOB for those interested in that kind of thing (wine also on the menu). Wish I took a before photo, but heres proof that we loved the food!
This restaurant specializes in fresh fish and their food is delicious. They have no menu and you must pay in cash (there is an ATM across the street). The octopus is fantastic, we also had a whole red snapper that was cooked to perfection (not fried but if you want they can fry it for you). The Greek salad excellent and an appetizer of fried tiny whole fish very tasty. Portions are big, dessert was on the house. Service, superb.
The service was poor and the waiter didnt pay attention to how we wanted our food.We told him about our dissatisfaction and he didnt do anything about it. Not even an apology.Upon paying the bill, the owner complained about how much tip Im leaving and why Im tipping with the credit card. After I explained my reason, she said, the waiters live on the tim and she suggested I should put more down, eventhough she knew her staff didnt do what they had to do.Very rude. Not going back there.
I am vegetarian and I absolutely ADORE this place! There are so many options for me, such as the lima beans, skordalia, all the many different roasted vegetables, tzatziki, various rice specials, yummy desserts, and more. The tastes are indescribably good and authentic. The owner is the kindest woman and even though I come here for the food, I never forget to chat with her and receive wisdom on life and recommendations on food. If you’re vegetarian (or not) do not hesitate to come here. You will not be disappointed!
Elias Corner is the place to visit if you want delicious, authentic Greek seafood. A family run operation, they take their service and the experience of their patrons seriously. Worth a visit! Top notch. Dont wait to be served. Tell them which fishes you want, and they will make it happen.
My wife and I love this authentic Greek restaurant. An easy trip out of the city (N/W train). It’s better and less expensive. Jenny and eldest son Philip (owners) are charming and Savvas, who took care of us all evening, was fantastic. Great meal at a fantastic price; best deal in the boroughs. Highly recommend.
Super good. Even though I am vegetarian, this Greek fish restaurant was very accommodating. Great food, super friendly staff (owners are always there checking on you and making sure you are happy, also doesn’t hurt that they are are all sooo good looking! lol). And my non vegetarian friends who took me there said it was the best fresh fish they have ever had! I am for sure going back!!!
My husband and I absolutely love 💓 the food and the owner. He was always there and greeted us with a hug, a complimentary wine and a chit chat. Was saddened and surprised to hear he passed. We recently dined there and he was a picture of health. We will miss him. Condolences and PRAYERS to the family.
Had not been to this restaurant for 5 Years. Went yesterday for dinner what a disappointment. We were given a table for two that was so uncomfortable was asked to moved to another table they claimed that they were all reserved which was not true. We were going to stay but with thus type of service we had to leave. Ordered some oysters and the only thing that came with it was a lemon. no cocktail sauce( instead gave us a plastic bottle of cocktail sauce). no hot sauce .Grilled Octopus was very good.
Food was amazing! Scallops that melted in my mouth...fish grilled perfectly. Very friendly service. The only two caveats were they dont have a menu, so the server had to rattle off the long list; plus we didnt have any sense of pricing so we had no idea how much the dinner would cost. A bit unsettling. Also they dont take credit cards. But the food was amazing! Definitely will return.
Everything is delicious! Been going here consistently for 15+ years and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh, the service is quick and the restaurant itself is very homey and pleasant. I recommend the Atherina, grilled octopus, Greek salad, St Petersburg, and the grilled shrimp. Its really hard to miss on any option here!!
Excelente sea food restaurant. Original Greek restaurant manage by his owner. Generous dishes, big sized, exquisite.Quite good price-benefit ratio.3 starts to the wine. 5 stars to sea food. Amazing waiter attention.Good atmhosphere. Great for party for 4 or more. Not so cozy for couples dinners or dates.Outstanding swordfish, quite well seasoned. No credit cards accepted, cash only place.Easy access from the subway.
Take the R train to the last stop in Astoria, or the M60 bus from upper Manhattan heading East. Best to go on a warm evening when you can sit outside. Their appetizers are the best, dont even bother with a main course. Just order plates of their grilled fishes and wine! The owner seems to be a bit of a control freak towards his mostly female staff, but they appear to have figured out how to get back at him because everyone seems to be in good humor by nights end. Theyre Greek, they can handle anyone! Across the street is the Bohemian beer garden. Good for a different type of summer night outdoor adventure!
This is a singular NYC option for those who love and appreciate super fresh grilled seafood and vegetables at fair prices. If youre number one priority isnt the quality of the food, you should spend more at other spots for atmosphere because you wont find better fIsh. Its a family run spot, highly attentive service, sparse ambience. Every once in awhile they will slightly overcook a piece of fish. Reminding the waiter that you prefer fish on the less cooked side is a worthy insurance policy. Enjoy!
Horrible, uncomfortable place to eat, very dirty and no space, you fell like you can not breathe due to the bad atmosphere. the owner so rude, he only talk to his Greek customer, the waitress used their Greek language and you know that they talk about you, very very rude, no menu how come you can order a food without knowing the price of each plate, at the end we end up paying $202 for WHAT! no water on the table, they charge me 4 shrimp for $25.00 Really. this place looks scary to me and I will not advice no one to go there. they all steering on you make you feel very uncomfortable. I WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE, WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NOBODY.
Excellent fresh fish cooked to perfection (still let them know if you want it cooked less). I have had the Greek salad, the little fishes (aka atherina; about 60 in a plate), the calamari (they dont cut up the bodies which keeps them fresher), the soft shell crabs (exceptional quality), and the branzino (huge and beautifully cooked). Everything was excellent.
I’ve been here many time. I’ve had their red snapper, Bronzino and other food. Their food is good, but it’s not all about the food. Everyone can cook these days. It’s about the hospitality. I wouldn’t expect them to remember me but I just went in there because I needed to use their bathroom and they said it’s for customers only. I did explain to them that I’d been here before but they didn’t seam to care. So here’s to their hospitality! Cheers! 🍾🍻
Elías Corner was great, as usual. Eating in their porch with Greek music in the background, sipping ouzo was like being in Greece. The food and service was impecable, as usual. It felt safe and the personal attention of Phillip and his mom was like seeing family again
First of all I am not Greek, However thanks to my good Greek friends I do understand when two waiters utter the word ξένο while looking right at me thinking I dont understand. Stupid I am not! I got very strange looks during my visit and was made to feel unwelcome. Is this because I aint Greek?? Maybe thats why I didnt even get bread and olives served like everyone else? I also only got 1 glass of water. Waiters all stood by looking right at my table while they talked amongst themselves and never refilled my glass. When the food came it was very good, so hence the 2 stars and not one. 2 red flags are there is NO Menu and its cash only. That should have been my indicator. You final bill is an unpleasant surprise when youre done eating being that you dont have any idea what anything costs! That in itself is just ridiculous! I have eaten at a few Greek eateries in the area and Never have I experienced such poor table service. Maybe next time I should wear a Greek soccer Jersey and the table service would improve! Lastly, the parking lot is a joke! You can literally only fit like maybe 10 cars in there! Like I said the food is wonderful, but the hospitality needs major work. P.S. I am from a Mediterranean country too, so its not like were that different from Greece however when you dine at almost any restaurant serving cuisine from my country, seldom are you made to feel the way I did here. Im sorry to write so much but this all needed to be said to truly explain to you my experience here.
Maybe the best grilled octopus Ive ever had. There is no bad food here. Service, although rushed, is fast and good. Right across from the beer garden so you can go have your drinks there afterward. Nice one-two punch. They only take cash though so this keeps me out of here for the most part. They are also right under the train so you will hear that while you eat. Still, totally worth it.
I came here for a late dinner on a weekday and the place was crowded. The servers seemed over worked and bit annoyed. Our waitress came up to our table and was like what are you having? I was very confused since this was my first visit and hadnt read all the reviews on how this place doesnt have a menu. After I told the waitress I didnt know what they offer since this was my first time she sort of brush us off and told us to have the Greek salad. I said sure but what else do you have since I like to know all my options before I make up my mind. We ended up getting the Greek salad and grilled octopus. I have to say both were delicious and Im so glad she was pushing the Greek salad since it was amazing. Now it was time to order our entrees and the same deal had to pulled teeth to get a list of what they had. FYI they only sell fish and most come whole unless you ask for it to be filet which I did.I got the branzino and asked them to filet it which they did and still brought me the head which I guess I could have deal without but since the fish was so delicious I didnt mind. Part of joy of going to a Greek restaurant is having some lemon potatoes since I adore them but she told us they had run out so we just got some grilled mix veggies. I missed the potatoes but the veggies were done to perfection. Not sure if they had dessert because she never offered us any.Overall the food here its amazing if you are a fish lover but doesnt expect great service.
Elias Corner is one of my favorite seafood Greek spot in Astoria, Queens. This is a cash only spot so carry plenty of money as prices for meals for two people is generally between $50 - $80. The fishes are fresh, almost prepared exactlt when you order it. Their grilled shrimp is to die for! The whitling is delicious, the fried snapper is yummy, the grilled seabass is a huge portion...suggest sharing that. Their greek salad tastes as if it was transported from Greece itself, very fresh and delicious. Ambience is lowkey, alot of families come here. The wine is a bit expensive but good news, you can bring your own! No reservation needed. Does get crowded on Fridays and weekends. It is a must try!! Ohh and the greek coffee after a meall..just polishes off everything!
Alright place. Paid $33.5 tax included. I got grilled salmon with broccoli. The salmon was enough for two people. It was awwight. Nufin crazy. It came with a nice size loaf of bread and a nice sized Greek salad.I would have rather had a smaller piece of salmon for a smaller price.I would visit this place again. For those new to this place, no menu and cash only.
This is NOT the place to go for a romantic rendezvous, but if you appreciate seafood that seems to have just leaped from the ocean onto your plate, you may fall in love anyway. Totally unpretentious decor and sometimes-inattentive service can be forgiven when the simply-prepared fish is so sparklingly fresh. Share appetizers and salads, but dont expect much in terms of creativity.
If you are black do not go to this place they will talk about you in Greek , lucky for me my boyfriend is Greek and understood what they where saying. I will never recommend this place to anyone , you feel very uncomfortable just by how they look at you as if theyve never seen a coloured person , why would I support a business where they say it out for every Greek person to understand while you have no idea why everyone is looking at you.How dare you even utter those words out of your mouth , we are in a generation where people know different languages and are very educated you cant judge a person by how they look , and what makes it worse I think its the owner that said it.
Beware, Waiter stole $20.00 from us. I came to restaurant with $120.00 the meal came out to 117.00 and it was worth it, until I told the waiter I needed to go get cash for the tip (they only accept cash) I came back, and he says you only gave me $100.00, I said No Way, I counted it twice before I left, the cashier says we only gave them $100.00, so someone pocketed the money, so gave home 20.00 but I was pissed, that you would steal from a customer, very disappointed in this place, would never go back.

2022-06-21Everything we had was absolutely delicious! A true Greek feast. The fish was cooked to perfection, the sides were wonderful, and the wine was a very welcome companion to the meal. The price was neither cheap nor expensive, but a great deal considering how tasty everything was. I highly recommend eating here!

2022-06-19Cute place with menu on board and fish displayed in counter. Service was a bit brusque even though it was not that busy. Octopus was great but two tentacles for $30 seemed steep. The Greek salad had nice ripe tomatoes. The carafe of house white was surprisingly very good. The fried, small fish were well done and a great appetizer. The porgy was mushy and the fish had the taste of gas from the grill like you would get at an outdoor bar-b-q. While I did not have it, the swordfish looked old (lacked any pink color was drab grey) and, in general, the fish in the case looked a little long in the tooth, which matched our experience with the porgy. Perhaps because it was Saturday night and maybe there was no fish delivery that day.

2019-06-08Beautiful decor, very fresh very authentic Greek food. There is no menu which we loved it. We just discussed with the server what we wanted to have for dinner. Everything was delicious and the servers made us feel like family. They also have offstreet parking which is rare in Astoria. Cash only

2020-02-23Amazing! No menu, just fish literally. Fresh selection, cooked to order. The sea bass was to die for! You have to try the grilled octopus appetizer, not chewy at all just tender and delicious.

The veggies were fresh and tasteful, the fish were done perfectly and the seasoning was amazing and the potatoes were absolute yum! Weve been to Greece, and this is the best Greek food weve eaten off the islands! We peeked on other guests tables and their seafood also looked amazing, there will def be a next time

2019-10-28Absolutely one of the best places to eat in NYC period. Very simple, beautiful, delicious food. You always feel like you’ve come over your family’s house for dinner. I wish this family owned business the best and I hope that they continue to serve NYC for many more year. No menus - Just fish. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE There are many good seafood Greek options in this neighborhood - but honestly - for me these guys are by far the best.

2021-10-17Hands down, amazing fish dishes. Favorites have been grilled octopus, grilled sardines, whole branzino and swordfish steak. Red snapper was good but definitely not worth price ($50) compared to other fish. Greek salad and lemon potatoes were both solid. Outdoor dining ambiance very nice. Cash only.
