I feel shame only giving this place 2 stars, because Ive been coming here since I was a baby. Used to be Waldbaums; still is. I cant articulate why its so depressing. It could be the lighting, lack of color; Im not sure. The people who work here are interesting; and nice. Give them a break. I guess Im just upset because I dont find their salad and greens to be the freshest.
Owned and operated by key food. Food universe i just a mask so the people in the neighborhood feel better about shopping here. Great prices huge selection. Oh and a bonus as i said its owned and operated by key food so even though its called food universe they accept key food discount cards!!!
You will never find better prices and variety in the produce section. Good store and good people working there. My one complaint is an almost non existent seafood department.
We prefer other grocery stores, but this one is close to us. They had what we needed but nothing special. Good proximity to other stores in the complex.
Dont shop here much. Only in a rush or in a bind. Why? I work in Stop & Shop 31-06 Farrington Street, Flushing, NY. However Key Food was good for the last minute and close to home.
The dryer repair service that I got from Universal Appliance Repair Fresh Meadows is just excellent. I needed someone to change the valves, and the technician did so for me. He also checked out the vents to make sure that they’re clean. I am staying with this appliance repair company for good.
One of the worst super markets Ive ever been to. An ugly store with rude cashiers, empty shelves, and old fruit. Hmart is cleaner, cheaper, and their employees say hello to you.
Looks like it was in its prime back in the 90s. Everything looks a bit old and dilapidated, and there were a few flies around the produce section, doin their fly thang.Otherwise its just another supermarket but one of the few in its area.
This store is horrible. Waldbaums was so great. Why do you now buy bananas in the plastic coveting? They are always blackend.let them be out like before, I HATE THID NEW STORE !!
Terrible customer service. Rude and nasty. Went shopping there yesterday to purchase cake that was marked on sale Reggie price 5.99 Sale price 3.99. I ended up at broken register so couldnt see items being rung. After check out I reviewed receipt to see if was charged wrong price. The employees first told me item us marked 5.99 so thats what I was charged, the office person went to check price. SHE TOLD ME I READ SIGN WRONG AND IT SAID RUM CAKE 3.99. I KNEW WHAT I READ SO I ASKED HER TO WATCH MY BASKET, I WENT TO CHECK - SIGN WAS REMOVED!!! WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY BASKET OFFICE PERSON WAS GONE - AFTER SHE AGREED TO WATCH MY BADKET!!!!! I WAITED ON LINE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ASKING FOR FOURSTAR WOEM WHO HELPED ME , THEY REFUSED TO GET HER. WHEN I WENT THRU EVENTS - STORE REP TOLD ME I SHOULDNT HAVE TAKEN PICTURE!!! I RESPONDED ARE YOU KIDDING ME AND ASKED HER IF SHE WAS SEROUS? SHE LAUGHED IN MY FACE!!! I WALKED OUT VOWING TO NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN

Large supermarket with a sufficient amount of parking. Different types of food from different cultures. Cans can be returned in front of the store.
Prices are comparable but the layout is annoying and things are oddly organized. Prepared foods/bakery/produce leave a lot to be desired.
The manager or worker there helped me immensely in finding an ingredient during the Thanksgiving prep craze. Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it.
TERRIBLE EMPLOYEES.. one of the employer ran and screamed at the back of my car because I didnt make her way to go through the aisle at the checkout... seems like they have no ethics to be in the workplace.
The have improved their fruits and veggies section and have installed new refrigerators and freezers. It is an improvement over the old market.

2017-11-17Pretty nice place. I like how they put seasonal items out. They have some unique ethnic foods and things are reasonably priced. I always find something I need on sale here. The cashiers are also really friendly, Ive had good conversations with more than one during checkout. The only problem I have is that if it is warm outside, this place is super cold. Even outside of the freezer section, I would need a jacket in the summer

2017-01-02A wide variety of fresh produce. The aisles are a good size to make 2 cart traffic possible. The staff was friendly & informed as to where items were. The market was also well lit and clean. The checkout process was pretty fast. I was disappointed in their seafood section.

2017-07-22New Name for what was a now closed supermarket chain. And while I am not 100% sure but I believe Food Universe is either affiliated with Key Food or is buying out/changing the name from Key Foods to Food Universe. That said, this store is a little on the small side. It is clean and the produce selection is pretty good especially in relation to the overall size of the store. Good sales and friendly staff. Lines moved along quickly. I was happy to see that there was NOT employees standing around while one cashier tried to check everyone out. That behavior is very common at supermarkets. Overall good experience.

2021-09-19Elite Appliance fixed my Kenmore refrigerator, but charged me $385 to replace the defrost kit, which looks to be about a $20 part. The serviceman was efficient, ~ took a bit less than an hour to defrost the freezer with an electric heat gun and replace the part.I should have looked into doing this myself. I had hoped I could find a company to do a fair job, but with Elite Appliance, I was wrong. For fair pricing, you will have to look into other appliance repair companies. Nearly three hundred dollars per hour is just exploitation.

2017-09-23The place look decent from outside, free parking, nice location, fresh fruits n vegetables, all types of food products, the aisles are full n pack, is hard to find what are you looking for, there are not staff to ask for help. The cashiers are to close n is hard to walk out after you pay, when kids standing on the hallway. expensive and a bit dirty

2017-07-31I love this place for plums, peaches, nectarines, fresh corn, fresh salad and greens. I bought a family pack of steak and it was amazing!! Very fresh; once cooked juicy and tasty... a bit pricey but its totally worth it.

2017-09-17Good prices and fresh produce but three stars for extremely rude staff particularly at the produce section and the meat section. Lack of common customer service to the extent that they will not budge till they are done stacking and you just wait for them to finish. I wish management would provide customer service trying to its employees.

2013-02-27I do not like shopping at Waldbaums. Every time I go there, you have to watch the prices because the sale items never ring up properly. The cashiers are always rude. Waldbaums is now owned by A & P. The quality of the food has changed. If an item is not on sale then it is going to be expensive.

2017-06-20They always have a problem with the check out area. They either do not have enough cashiers or there is problem with the machinery. The food in the Supermarket is ok, prices fine. Unless you arrive late at night, do not expect to get out too quickly

2017-09-22My go to supermarket in the neighborhood. I actually have a couple others closer to me than this one is but I dont mind driving a little further for the huge selection (compared to other local supermarkets) of fruits and vegetables, meats, a large dairy and deli section and a lot of off brands that I cant ever seem to find in the hood. I miss the deals that Walbaums used to have and was disappointed by the food universe takeover but a year or so into the change, it isnt so bad.
