A lovely place to take a break from your hectic day. ESG offers a respit within a sanctuary that is ripe for cleansing the mind and catching a deep breathe.Try it and consider donating to help keep this gem free and open to the public.Kudos to the volunteers and ground keepers that maintain this oasis. Thank you. See you soon.
Google maps shows a green space for now, but if our wonderful city has its way, it will be plowed under for senior housing. An assisted living project would be poorly suited for the space, because none of the local shops could be considered affordable. Not only that, but the only green space the seniors could enjoy would be eliminated by their own building. The fine print says the senior housing building could be sold 30 years after completion, and this is the real reason the city is choosing this strategy. The garden is enjoyed by local residents, tourists, and just about anyone finding themselves in the area. They cant grab the land outright, so they choose to thinly veil their efforts behind senior housing. If it werent for those medling kids, the city wouldve gotten away with it!!!The park needs your help! Drop by, visit, donate, sign their petition, and find out more!
My favorite place in NYC and they need our help! We must not allow the city to take away this green space for housing. Yes, it is for affordable housing, but there are better options just blocks from this location. This has been a respite for my family during this difficult time and we would be heartbroken to see it destroyed.
Why is it that the city only takes spaces where others have spent time and energy on bc the city left it abandoned? The Bronx never gets shined on and when it does it costs the residents more than what is being offered. To use housing for the elderly against a garden which is needed all over this city is a disgrace!! We need more food gardens and green space. I wish them all the best.
This park is beautiful and one of the most underrated spots in Manhattan. On a nice day, its perfect to grab lunch and sit outside, or take calls, or stroll through for a break from the tourist mobs in Soho. Donate to them. Attend the events. Just do everything to support keeping it!
Please never change Elizabeth Street Garden! Stay open as you are, forever. ♥️ This place is so charming, something about it is just very special. Nothing makes me want to return to Manhattan more than Elizabeth Street Garden.Disclaimer: I havent been here since pre-covid, not sure if anything has changed. But once we all get vaccines, I will be BAAACK
Elizabeth Street Garden is a hidden gem in Manhattan. Its a small green space thats more than a community garden. There are statues throughout the space and hidden benches for people to read on. They also host events from morning yoga. If you need a respite from the city life, retreat to this garden for hours. Youll forget youre in New York City.
This has to be my favorite park in the area. I always love getting food from Chinatown and some of the best buys are from hole in the wall restaurants. This is a good place to hang out and enjoy those treats and even journal. It is very well-maintained and it breaks the monotony of the area.
Its a nice little garden in the midst of the maddening SoHo crowd of galmor stores and restaurants. The peace is welcoming. I hope it continues fighting to stay there against all the builders who want to take this property because a city like New York needs such green spaces. They do memorials for dead friends and relatives as well and that gives those grieving a place to come and reflect. They take in volunteers and almost completely depend on donations- so do you bit!
What most of these reviews fail to tell you is that this park is enclosed by a chained linked fence that isnt even opened once a week. The stuff you see in the park is owned by the antique store next to it, which is often the way to get into this park. Store is using it as a rent free area for their stuff.
Elizabeth Street Garden provides that third place in midst of the busyness of the city. Its small, cute, and convenient and allows for community to take place in the smallest of moments. its so important that funding is kept up to protect this small yet important gem of a place in the neighborhood.
No commercial photography in the park, theres even a sign in front of the park. This a private garden open to the public. Theres some guys with a table at the entrance monitoring the place. I took my two dauthers to a yoga activity there and there were a couple of guys topless barefoot around the park which I find to be very inappropriate. I complained to the blonde old lady at the table and she basically said that i needed to leave the park because I was taking pictures of my daughters with a DSRL. DSRL arent allowed at the park because the old lady thinks using a DSRL automatically makes you a commercial photographer. I understood, I didnt complain but I was really disappointed until i saw a bunch of school kids taking pictures with a tripod, DSLRs.. Total nonsense. I complained again but to my surprise, they let them finish their little photoshoot. I even asked the kids if they had permission and they said no. So weird.. I even called 311 to see if this was legal, mind you i have all this recored in video because it was a little unbelievable and 311 told me that the city was soon closing the park. So there you go, enjoy it while you can. No DSLR specially if you speak to them with an accent.
A peculiar garden with various sculptures of all kinds, which gives it a touch of madness and creativity.I came across it by chance while exploring the neighborhood but it seemed like a nice place for photography and meditation.I will recommend it and will visit in a not too distant future.
Beautiful community garden embellished with some nineteenth-century sculptures donated by a generous gallery owner. Garden plants and flowers are cared for by a group of volunteers, who are also fighting a legal battle with the city of New York, which owns the land they would like to put up for sale to overseas buildings. Corners with sofas and benches invite you to a pleasant and unusual stop in Soho. Do not miss and sign the petition!

2021-10-17Such a beautiful place. It feels like you are in another place as you walk amongst the different statues and flowers. They are trying to save this Community Garden from being eradicated because of construction. Not only should it be saved but it should be landmarked.

2021-07-24Great day to settle in to a groovin DJ set and shady breeze. I hope they do more of this. Even without the music it’s always nice to get out of the shopping mayhem. The garden is pretty well set up for a little privacy or a little social scene.

2021-08-06Precious little hidden sculpture park in the Soho - Nolita area. It’s free and open to the public. Great place to relax and enjoy some ice cream from nearby Milk Bar or Morgenstern’s.

2020-11-01A piece of frozen time tucked away in soho. Beautiful garden eclectically decorated with remnants from the past, a refreshing change from the modern and urban architecture of the city. Makes for a lovely getaway from the hustle and bustle of it all. Free and open to the public but accepts donations.

2019-08-11Wow! We stumbled on this gem while we were waiting for our appointment at New York Shaving Company. The sculptures and the plants blend to make a true oasis in the city. Shot way up my favorite park list.

2018-05-05This place is like an oasis in the desert. Ideal for lunch break, mainly because its never too packed. Not a tourist attraction, although its a cool landmark of the neighborhood. Beautiful during all the seasons. Lots of cute sitting areas as well as grass , in case you are into picnics! The statues are very picturesque too, and the whole environment feels like a set of a movie!
