If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would. This DISGUSTING Center let a non-vocal patient leave by themselves one shoe on one shoe off with a transportation company & sent no AID with the patient. They didnt even offer to fix the situation or to send an AID to help him get back to the center. Nothing was completed for the patient paperwork wise which is their job. They were not even remorseful & just put you on hold when you call to complain. NEVER send your loved ones here!!!!!!
This is truly the WORST Rehab/Nursing Home EVER. They do not return calls. Our office has called the Director of Nursing Eleanor many times and never received a call back. They do not bring patients their medications on time or at all. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS PLACE.
I worked at this facility as a CNA through an agency. My goal was to help better the facility and provide nurturing care as I always do for my patients. The LPNS/RNS are tired, have no meds to give their patients, and are overwhelmed with charting and med sign out that is 9 out of 10 times wrong. The CNAs...they do the bare minimum if you can say that. First, they come in late for their shifts, sleep for 2-4 hours maybe more, leave early, sit on their phones, and are completely disrespectful to the patients. NYS did not certify aides to be treating other human beings this way. If they or their families were here, they would expect better care. There is barely ever enough clean linen. Foodservice tells you they cant make grilled cheese on Friday. The supervisors never answer the phone. Complain in front of a sick patient for which we needed to call 911 for, complained about filing paperwork as the resident was sick but now afraid to seek the intervention provided as they were made to feel like a burden. Care plans are always extremely outdated. NYS cert standards not followed. Sometimes the max CNAs are 2 for 50+ people and there is no way equipment can be properly used therefore the care isnt provided or provided dangerously and unethically. Then I was positive for covid in January and out the appropriate days. I came back to work worked a couple of shifts then get a call and the paperwork forwarded that 10 days later I was swabbed and positive again for covid which wasnt the case at all. I was quarantined a second time with paperwork backing that up however I told the facility they made a mistake and right now I am stuck in a gray area. I have not been paid for the second mistaken quarantine. The rn that ran my swab had just gotten back from vacation and only a few hours prior made it clear she couldnt be bothered as it took her 3 hours to even administer a test the day I was actually positive. I had a feeling I was ill and refused to go into a patients room thinking shed make it a priority and she could have cared less. The other rn in the room asked me, why didnt you just put your mask up and keep working like the rest of us instead of testing ? This facility is disturbing, to say the least. I spoke with Eli Vatch between these 2 situations of my actual positive test and the mistake and told him of all the things I stated above in addition to CNAs smelling of Marijuana which was clearly stated not tolerated and many more things. He had highly recognized me multiple times before the call as well as on that phone call. I truly believe he wanted to change the facility for the better but someone with more authority needs to take control here. Patients are not being given meds and proper care. This is about their quality of life, not workers wanting to go back to their vacation. My duty as a CNA is to provide the utmost possible care I can physically, emotionally, and mentally to my patients and I can not work at a facility that advocates the exact opposite. As well as treating employees the way they do. Im sure there are other details Ive left out due to brain fog from having covid twice however, what I can provide is detailed enough to help people realize better care needs to be a priority here and as soon as possible bc this isnt the way nys says nor should your heart.Update July 19th, 2022I will be reaching out to a lawyer. I have not heard back from the facility or the administration. Ive sent numerous email and made plenty of telephone calls. In addition to getting a lawyer, I will be reporting them to NYS for neglect and abuse.August 23rd:No email response, no call back. Left a message for the administrator still havent heard a word.
The absolute rudest staff Ive ever encountered. They rush you off the phone and make you feel like a bother if you ask questions about your family member or simply want to be transferred to talk to them. After 3 weeks of my mother being in the facility, they didnt even know her full medical conditions and werent supplying her medications. Garden Gate Health Care Facility on Union Road (Cheektowaga) did an amazing job prior. Unfortunately, my mother had to transfer here because of lack of rooms available at Garden Gate. Complete fail across the board; absolutely terrible.
So far my mom is Not Receiving the care we expected. There are a few staff members that have made us comfortable with her care. Tonya & Maddison. If insurance plans and location was not a concern shed most certainly be some where up to par! We want the same care for my parent that these individuals should want for theres!!! 3 days now and she still doesnt have her bags. They wont answer the phone or call you back in reference to making an appointment to see her. An aide at night continues to wanna put a diaper on her when shes cable of going to the rest room. This is a major no no, You are a hindrance to her well being.!!!! Not to mention to her wound care. Im upset, disappointed, and angry at this point. Im trying to look into some place more professional and caring that accepts her insurance and doesnt mind doing the job they signed up for
My sister was taken there for rehab. She was left in a room and not fed or given drinks for over 24 hrs. Not toileted and yelled at for asking. She then had to sit in her own urine for the day and yelled at when requesting help. They refused any help and just walked away. They gave no pain meds and she is stage 4 cancer and is in excruciating pain and requires morphine and oxy several times a day . She finally was able to call begging us to get her. My sister was a head nurse in a rehab facility before cancer and she was appalled by Ellicott Center. This is a horrible place. I do not believe that the 5 star ratings on this place are true. Every agency that rates facilities like this gives Ellicott the worst rating they can. They are also listed as 1 of the worse 16 rehab/ nursing facilities in the entire united stated. It is nothing short of abuse and neglect that my sister went through in the day and a half she was there.
This facility needs to be closed. My family member Kevin Washington was treated so poorly that it resulted in him being admitted in the hospital because of their negligence. He fell in there four times, I only received one phone call. They didnt do his wound care properly. They did not give him his medication properly especially on the weekends. The staff is verbally abusive. When trying to contact Cora the social worker about my concerns she will not respond. The staff is unprofessional, they dont attend to the patients properly. The staff washed my family member cell phone in his laundry destroyed it, now they have not replaced it.
I have been in healthcare for approximately 40 years, and I am ashamed to be a nurse after working at the Ellicott Center, 200 7th street, Buffalo, NY. First let me start by saying I was given a PHONE call by the administrator, telling me I wasn’t a good fit. The night before I was the supervisor and I was to be in charge of 3 of the 4 units. I notified Eli, the administrator about the staffing issues and his reply was “we will work it” I also sent an email to the Kelly, the DON, Dawn, the ADON, nobody came in to help with this crucial issue. 3 falls, insulin reaction, resident calling 911 to be taken to the hospital for pain. I did the best to handle the major things, like the resident with insulin shock and getting the fallen residents off the floor. Apparently, it wasn’t enough. Most residents didn’t receive their attention, due to no help, after my administrator was made aware. Administration is non supporting, the detachment from the realities of how neglectful the staff are is like something out of a movie. The very young administrator is, for the lack of a better word, an actor in this crazy movie. Staff come late, leave early, or, or they don’t come at all. No call no shows are tolerated and welcomed. I was told that the administrator’s tolerance for this behavior was summarized as “50% care is better than 0% care”. I kinda get it, but when the CNAs finally arrive, the first order of the shift is getting on the cell phone and for the first hour or two, texting or talking is the priority. 5-8 call lights are going off and as the CNA’s are busy on the phones, these poor residents are lying in urine and feces. It’s so frustrating. ITS CRIMINAL! IT ELDER ABUSE! ITS A CRIME! Some of the LPNS don’t even administer the resident’s prescribed medication. Neglect! A resident asked to see the social worker and I emailed the social worker and told of the request by the resident, to date, the social worker, after emailing me back and stating that she would see her that day, has yet to see her. Most of the staff will come in reeking of weed, which could maybe explain why the residents receive minimal attention. A supervisor told staff not to care for a resident who has C-diff not to care for her, because you don’t want to take this home to your children. The resident, after lying in stool and urine for 12 hours, asked if I would change her. Tears came to my eyes and I felt ashamed to be a nurse at that moment. Another resident that I had to take charge his care was so soaked with urine, that his socks were soaked with urine. Criminal! The administrative team should be arrested! True stories! Cannot make this up. Hope the right person or agency, attorneys reads this!
Should be Negative 3 stars-I cannot believe that this place still open, patients lingering in hallways with urine smell on them, and raggedy clothes. Uncle was admitted there after what hospital claim was a fall and I would not put my worse enemy there, no compassion from staff and zero cleanliness. Needless to say I got him out of there ASAP!
These reviews are a joke please visit this place in person it is understaffed and very poorly taken care of. Resident response time is very slow and hallways are disgusting ants crawling over sticky spills on floor. I have been there 4 days straight and the same stains and spills are seen. Upset and in disbelief.
Absolutely disgusting. They shower patients once a week, hang up on you when you call, left my mother in her original clothes from the hospital. They havent even cleaned her room. She has called us in tears twice and we ARE pulling her out. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR LOVED ONES!!!! I will be reporting them to the health department
From an administration point of view their customer service and response time is horrible. After being placed on hold for some time the phone is answered by a person who sounds half asleep. I needed to speak to some about a NYS document. Person one was off - but their out going message did not indicate that so after leaving a few messages you would anticipate a return call. Calling back again and asking for admissions you could not leave a message because the mailbox was full. Trying to reach a supervisor is next to impossible. When calling for the 5th time and asking for the administrators office I was told by the operator that they didnt know who that was. I finally was able to speak to the administrator after almost 4 hours of speaking to no one and no return call. I wont give details as to the nature of my call only to say it was time sensitive and was New York State related. This is no way to run a business. In talking to other professionals needing to speak to someone with the same need I had, they all experienced difficulty getting through to anyone.
Staff always got attitude, residents always are almost never changed, floors have pee/poop stains on them, THE ROOMS IN PICTURES IS NOT HOW THE ROOMS ACTUALLY LOOK, halls smell, always short staffed, food is terrible, call lights not answered over 1hr, residents rooms are never cleaned, residents sheets always have dirty stains(check under residents incontinent pad), residents pass away due to lack of care, residents who need to be nurse/aide fed 75% aren’t fed, force you to falsely document so they don’t look bad, etc. I could go on forever. I worked here trust me do not put your family/friends in this nursing home unless you want them neglected.
Unfortunally my father in law was placed there. Since it was covid we were not allowed to visit, during phone calls he would complain about the lack of internet, seeing mice scampering across the floor. He passed there and it took us almost 6 weeks to get his personal belongings in which we never did get the his phone back... and no one even knew he had a phone.....
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE TO SEND YOUR LOVED ONES.!!!! Be WARNED.Yesterday no one was allowed to leave their rooms, today no one is allowed to get OUT OF THEIR BEDS. This place is understaffed, untrained out of supplies and no one can get in to see or aid their dear Mom. Their are a couple staffers who care and have to work twice as hard to cover the the many workers who wont pull their weight. The people who run the place should be ASHAMED. Maybe even REPLACED.!!!!!!!!! Get your loved ones out.
I had to call 911 after waiting an hour and half and no response! My room mate even went in Hall to look for help and the halls were empty of staff. When 911 came the charge nurse came and actually scolded me for not getting a nurse. When she finally found a nurse she told me they didnt know where my nurse was! On top of it a friend went to get my things and they had thrown everything into garage bags clean and dirty clothed mixed with a diamond painting I worked on for 2 weeks and is ruined! That place is hell on Earth!!!
This place is a complete disgrace, full of nurse who have zero control of staff. The call lights are unanswered and the building is a complete disaster. Staff responds with negative attitudes when asked about a loved ones care. Residents are left unattended and with poor hygiene. It saddened me that these poor residents have to live in these conditions. This place lacks compassion and empathy!!
0 communication, even after complaining multiple time they do not call or communication with the family. They never call back after 7 straight voice mails. Even when you go to the center they lie and say they are in a meeting. Literally no way to get in reach with anyone. Stay away from this place.
This place doesnt deserve one star. they get a ZERO for having incompetent, rude, lazy workers (supervisors, RNs, aides, etc.). Its so sad and disappointing that these poor residents have to deal with such neglect and unprofessionalism. How is this place still OPEN? I know two workers who do their job and actually have a heart but they cant be there 24/7. My dad died in this horrible place. I feel bad that we didnt get him out in time. This place needs to rebuild from the inside out. Replace all workers who dont do their job, including the directors. Its very unsettling knowing that neglect is allowed here. Have a heart Ellicott Center staff or get out. Where are your morals?
Came from Jersey to visit uncle, was warned but never would imagine this place smelled the way it did! I was so sick to my stomach! The place was so dirty, Employees were so rude and you could see in there face how miserable they were, eating at front desk unprofessional n disgusting! When I walked to my uncles room he was almost falling out of his bed, his sheets and pillow were filthy!! This place is inhuman! No seniors deserve to be treated this way! I don’t understand how this place is still running and no one has done anything! This place needs to be shut down! ASAP
Most aweful faculty for quality of care. Some of these people only have a short time left and not real much of a quality of life anymore. They do not respect their patients, from the director to RNs, and aides. They give no respect to patients. Dont think out of the box and do minimal work. Ive witnessed this first hand. My mom was there.Thank god she is out and we found an agency. That goes above and beyond for her and no it wasnt the one waterfront suggested and barley linked her to.NOW, a poor women who is very elderly was molested by a man. The Buffalo News paper said she asked that man to leave her room several times before. Maybe one of the aides could of got off their cell phones and did bed checks and this would of been prevented. Btw there patient phones dont call out.Its an updated beautiful facility w a poor staff that does not do a semi decent job, cleaning patients or their rooms. On staff doctor (one I was told). Never called or returned my calls in 2 mths my mom was there.Mark my words this was 1 of many tragedies that will happen here. This poor women goes her whole life and come to a place of rest or rehabilitation and this is what happens to her in her final years to come. Its the facilities fault and staff. They were aware who they allowed in staff should of protected their patients!!!!!!!
Im sick and tired to get here to visit my brother and the parking lot of the handicap is full of car that not have no tag or license plate with a handicap I discussed this already with the social worker and its still the same Scrabble now from February 8th 2019 I will call the police so they can give the ticket and hopefully they will take respect other needs Imperial age and rights that have handicapped people here are the pictures
My daughter was at this facility after 2021. He was temporarily placed at the Veterans Administration by his social workers. My son was well taken care of and loved the staff at the facility. The food is very good, he said. When I visited him, I saw a friendly conversation between the staff and my daughter.
I want to express my gratitude to this facility for taking such good care of my father. He had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and we wanted to keep him as comfortable and as happy as possible. Though he was not in the best state of health, the facility and the staff took care of him, provided him with a nice environment and great food. I was so grateful. Thank you so much!
I have never seen a local doctor, front desk clerk and the floor, with attitude. Nurses have no ethics, compassion, for patients. Regarding maintenance F, Total. From the rooms and corridors... The improvement is made by the relatives. Poor nutrition for a sick person.Social worker pays for free, does not do his job.In conclusion, personnel should arrive, such as the patients attorney, president of the Obusman medical union, etc., and give them a good inspection of the place and speak with relatives of the patients who are there. And in Conclusion close the Place!Love your neighbor as yourselfNo one deserves to be mistreated

2022-07-21I came here for recovery. Remaining aided me a great deal. I value the assistance in having the option to carry on with a superior life. I was unable to escape my bed at home and presently I can undoubtedly stroll around my home more often than not. I was sleeping for a considerable length of time. The diversion staff was exceptionally kind and brought heaps of fascinating and fun exercises. Non-intrusive treatment helped a great deal. Im exceptionally appreciative to many medical caretakers. The kitchen and other help staff were many times a brilliant light in my day.. Many thanks..

Activities The department has an active program for all residents, regardless of whether they are there for health reasons. They also have an excellent entertainment schedule for residents. 2022-09-16Reviews are fake on here. Residents dont receive proper care nor do they have staff or have acess to supplies to do their job. Laundry is never clean. Rats run around in the facility, residents are forced to kill them with urinals, Superior Staff doesnt know anything nor do they care about the residents. When residents are sick they dont send them out until they are septic damn near on a death bed. If I could put zero stars I would.

2022-09-02Fantastic staff! They are friendly and compassionate, and they respond quickly to all of the residents needs. They are quite capable and skilled. Furthermore, a spotless facility.
