This place is amazing. I go to visit/pick up my girlfriend pretty frequently from Buffalo, and always make it a point to stop here before we head back to Rochester. Its got a great location, pretty centrally located on Hertel, and I usually find parking on the adjacent street, so I dont have to worry about walking too far to my car after my stroll on the avenue. They have a very wide selection, from Portishead, to Madlib, to Angel Olsen, to Earl Sweatshirt. The cashier, who I believe is the owner, is always very friendly, and is usually talking animatedly with a customer about something, which is always nice to see. Its decently organized, fairly priced, and all around a great experience. Ive stopped in probably five times in the past couple months, and have yet to leave empty handed. Highly recommended to anyone who has an appreciation for vinyl, whether theyre new to collecting, have been doing it for years, or simply want their favorite album on vinyl to put on their wall. I cant wait until my next trip.
What a welcomed addition to the Elmwood Village. This store is exciting. The mix of new and older music together makes something available for baby boomers and all younger peeps. The used selection is great too. It appears as if each record was inspected for quality and variety. I completely enjoyed my 2 trips (so far) to this store and look forward to many more days ahead! Thanks.
Revolver records is one of the best record stores in town. The owner, Phil , is not only knowledgeable but also really kind! He has a great selection for all kinds of tastes in music, and the layout is really fun to dig for albums in. I love this place!! Highly recommended, please stop there if you like records!!
I stopped in by chance on a walk down Hertel Avenue & Im really happy I did. Phil is kind, knowledgeable, & very helpful when youre looking for something in particular. Despite being a small space, its really efficient & there is a great variety. Im v happy to support this awesome shop!
Good selection of jazz records, however, I made the mistake of not checking the condition of the vinyl and took the grading on the price sticker at face value. The grading was way off on most of the records I bought. Records graded mint were VG/VG+ at best. Dont make my mistake, check your used records.
Sine the local, large record shop is closing its doors, Ive decided to audition the smaller shops in the area. So here goes my review for my first visit...Pretty good selection for the size of the store. The store felt clean and well cared for. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was also a great set of music playing the entire time I shopped (~1.5hrs).I felt prices seemed a bit on the high side. Especially for fairly common/classic used records like Pink Floyds DSOTM ($20 or more for a VG grade). IMO, Overall, their wares were all graded(if applicable) fairly accurate and kept in great shape. If you stop by knowing that you are going to pay ~discogs or better rates, you will have a fine time.I ended up leaving with a live Cold War Kids album recorded at Jack Whites studio direct to tape. Most other things I found interesting were either too $ or not up to my high standards for condition(NM or better). I will be back to shop in the future, just not on a regular basis.
Man, I really have to get major respect to a person working here. I was looking for a specific album that was recently released. I couldnt find it, so I asked the guy if they had it. He looked all around but with no luck. I then went to a place down the street to get some lunch. When I returned, he actually found it! He said the album was accidently put in the wrong place, and I thanked him so much for taking time to make sure they had it.With that out of the way, the record store itself is quite nice. It has a wide selection of records to check out. It is a little small, but the amount of records it houses is incredible.

2018-03-09Nothing like a Saturday stroll on Hertel Ave and stopping at Revolver for great records and finds. I wish the pricing was a little more competitive but I still enjoy the store and the staff. If I can recommend anything it’s to visit every little shop on that strip.

2021-07-04The place is nice enough. A lot of *new* records, not nearly as many old school records compared to the other location. Also, my wife and I were the only ones in there for about 20 minutes and the guy who was working there never lifted his head off of his phone to acknowledge us. Went to another record store and dropped almost $200, funny enough I was greeted with a warm hello and what can I help you guys find at that place. Weird how ACKNOWLEDGING a customer can turn into $$$. This guy never said one word to us and thus we spent our money elsewhere.
