OMG!! If you really love your family members and they need inpatient rehabilitation services, this is the place that you can trust. My 52 year old sister suffered a significant right brain stroke in January, 2021. She was in ICU for weeks prior to being discharged to inpatient rehabilitation care. Her initial rehabilitation care started in an acute rehabilitation hospital. But it was soon recognized that she required more physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Well, in comes Emerge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Glen Cove, New York. When I tell you I have never met so many caring and professional individuals under one roof, it is the absolute truth. Our initial interaction started with the Director of the Neurological Program. From the beginning he was a wealth of information and set us on the right track towards recovery. During my sisters stay, he often visited her to check on her condition as well as give her much needed emotional support. All the nurses, social workers, therapist, techs, physicians, dietary personnel, and environmental staff treated my sister like she was a part of their family. The therapist took a special interest in ensuring that my sister was on the right path of recovery to walk again.Emerge Nuring and Rehabilitation in Glen Cove provides top notch professional care to all patients but especially patients needing neurological rehabilitation and care. So if you or your loved one is in need of outstanding and exceptional rehabilitation care, dont walk but run over and check out Emerge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Glen Cove. You wont have any regrets...I promise you!
Mary Suddell and Kathy Santucciare community liaisons for Emerge Nursing and Rehabilitation at Glen Cove. They are two dedicated & compassionate individuals who support the seniors in the community on so many levels. Whenever there’s any type of fun event, recreational or social activity planned for the seniors, you can bet to see Mary and Kathy there! The smiles on their faces exude the passion they have for what they do in helping to enrich the lives of the seniors and make their days a little brighter. The seniors are so fortunate to have such wonderful women supporting them!
My mother has spent the past year, basically, in Emerge. Our family has had many different experiences with nursing and rehab facilities in our lives. Not one has lived up to the service and care we were provided by the staff at Emerge. They genuinely care about their residents and it shows. The facilities themselves are clean and beautiful. Wendell, their head of neurology, especially went the extra mile for me on more than one occasion. I highly recommend.
My grandmother was a patient at Emerge and the experience was amazing. The nursing and rehab team were both very attentive and took great care of her. She was able to walk out of the facility with a walker, something we didn’t think was able to happen. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication the staff put towards helping my grandmother
My mom was at emerge for 3 months and I could not have been happier with the care that she received! The director of the neuro rehab program, Wendell and his staff were great! Always friendly, professional, supportive and attentive. Ricky, Angelo, Nyree, Adrienne, Wendell, the nurses and so many others, you went above and beyond and we couldn’t thank you enough.I highly recommend this place for your family member or loved one.
I came to Emerge at the end of January 2021. I had just come from NorthWell hospital in Manhasset. I specifically came here because they are known for their neurological work. I have MS and had a UTI on top of it. When is arrived I could not stand or walk.At Emerge everyone knew my name. The staff IS AMAZING. The CNAs are some of the most caring people around. They are compassionate, understanding, sympathetic and genuine. The recreation department is composed of incredibly sweet caring people with smiles that radiate through their masks and enormous hearts. The person with the most enthusiasm and love is their chief Edna. They have a very difficult job during the pandemic, but do their best with what is allowed. They try very hard to keep everyone feeling positive and entertained. You can receive PT and OT seven days a week. During the week you receive both PT and OT on the same day. On the weekend you have PT on Saturdays and OT on Sundays. The rehab staff is very knowledgeable, very professional and very caring. Due to the pandemic you can only use the gym the two weeks before you leave, for steps and finishing up things. The good thing about working in my room was learning what I can do without machines. I still got very wonderful therapy in my room! Tremendous gratitude goes to Marie, Joy and Susan! They gave me back the confidence to move forward with my life!]There is a fabulous bakery available that is filled with delicious goodies. The food is pretty good, and enough to keep you satified.I would fully recommend Emerge for those that need rehab. It was absolutely the place I needed to get me back on my feet and able to move forward with my life.
There are not enough stars in the universe to give to Emerge neuro program. From my first call speaking to Lauren from admission to speaking with Mr. Miller. Mr. Miller the Director of Neuro program was efficient, knowledgeable and empathetic. He turns a negative outcome into a positive outcome. He took his time with a million question I had about my grandmother who was going to be a patient at his facility. Once my grand mother was in the program, I had frequent phone conversation with Ricky with any concerns or just wanting more information on how she was doing in her therapy sessions. We are forever grateful with the outcome that she received from Emerge neuro program. Thank you to all the Nurse who provided care.
My mother spent almost 4 months in the Neuro Program at Emerge. She had a massive stroke in April and spent two months total in the hospital in Staten Island and then NJ. The case worker at the hospital in NJ found one of Emerge’s sister facilities in Westchester. After speaking to Lisa the Director of the Neuro Program, I learned about Emerge in Glen Cove and that they had a Neuro Program too specializing in traumatic brain injury. Although my parents live in Staten Island, Emerge was only a half hour from me in Long Island. My family and I were thrilled. We had hope. I was so impressed with the Neuro Program and how residents get up to an hour of PT and OT seven days a week as well as ST up to an hour a day 5 days a week. We have been extremely happy with her care at Emerge. Wendell Miller the Senior Coordinator of the Neuro Program and Ricardo Palomo the Assistant Coordinator went above and beyond more times than I can count. Always ready and willing to answer questions and concerns. Even after hours on many, many occasions. It helped so much to have such dedicated contacts to turn to during this most difficult time. My mother’s therapists were wonderful. Paola, Ricky and Kelly were great at what they do as well as kind and compassionate. I felt so confident in their care. The damage was too great from the stroke and unfortunately they weren’t miracle workers in my mother’s case but not for lack of trying. They never gave up on her. She came to Emerge with a trach, stomach peg (nothing by mouth) and couldn’t even lift her head off the pillow. They weaned her off the trach and got her breathing on her own, she didn’t even need nasal oxygen by the end of her stay. She was able to progress to honey thick liquids and enjoy a soft food diet. She is now able to hold her own head up and sit upright in wheelchair. The nurses and CNAs were also wonderful. The nurses are hard to get a hold of as they are very busy, but they always took the time to answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. The CNAs are also very busy but compassionate care and attention was always given. Rose even accompanied her to an outside doctor appointment and it gave my mother the utmost comfort having someone she trusted so much with her. Julio the PA was great with my mom and with me answering my questions. He was always available to speak to. The entire recreation staff was amazing and Brandon especially went out of his way for us on many occasions. My mother was extremely soft spoken due to her paralyzed vocal chord and he had to help us communicate during our video calls and always handled those sometimes difficult conversations with the most professionalism and compassion. We were so grateful to be able to have window visits and video calls. Since we couldn’t visit in person due to the pandemic, being able to see her through her window and have video calls on days we couldn’t be there meant the world to us. I would highly recommend the Neuro Program at Emerge. We are grateful for the kind and compassionate care she received by all of her caregivers.
This facility was one of the most professional, efficient, empathetic & covid-19 cautious place I have ever experienced. The entire nursing staff are all amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful to know that the residents are being cared for in such a graceful manner. Definitely recommend & grateful for my time here.
I am currently in a nightmare situation. My mother fell out of bed. It wasnt until her ROOMMATE had to call our home at 2 am for help, as they were unable to get the nurses to come in! Poor communication from the start, facilities phone rings and rings and rings to no avail. Staff negligence. A few days in and this has been one of the worst experiences for myself and loved ones. Prayers we get my mom out SOON!
My mom was admitted to Emerge Rehab on July 16th and left on October 23rd. She had emergency surgery on June 10th for a large blood clot found in her spinal cord that caused paralysis down the right side of her body. The surgeon could not remove the blood clot and had to shave down 4 vertebrates hoping the blood clot would naturally dissipate on its own. The surgeon wanted to manage our expectations after the surgery and told us that she would never walk again and would never even stand again. After 100 days at Emerge, mom WALKED out. I cannot thank the staff at Emerge enough for giving my mom her life back. Before she even got there, I connected with Wendell, the Neurological Rehab Program Director. I was trying to find a rehabilitation program that specialized in rehabilitating people that suffered spinal cord injuries and my research led me to Emerge.. Wendell is an an angel-he was available to speak anytime of day or night , made sure mom had everything she needed and literally watched over her from the day she arrived. I have never met such a professional, dedicated, hard working kind human being in my life. Wendell, along with his team of Angelo, Joscelyn and Ricardo were miracle workers. Joscelyn and Ricardo worked with mom as her lead therapists everyday with incredible skill, professionalism, compassion, empathy and encouragement that enabled my mom to miraculously walk again. The care at Emerge is outstanding and unlike any care you could receive elsewhere. The competence and dedication of their staff puts them in their own league. Five stars for sure!!!!!Thank you to each and every person at Emerge that gave my mom a new lease on life. Angels and miracle workers.
Please review all nursing homes and take a tour . I decided to not look at reviews but instead take a tour. I wanted my mother to be in a state of the art rehab and I found it at Emerge . I was a little apprehensive because of the cleanliness and cheerful staff. My mom was at this rehab for 7 weeks because of complications after knee surgery . The therapist was very professional and knew how to treat my mother . The nursing staff like any other rehab was average but took care of all our needs. I wanted to give 5 stars but there is room for improvements. Thank you each one of the satff who help my mom get back to our home in queens .
My mother, Carol Bassin, has been a patient at Emerge for 5 weeks. She arrived frightened and confused after a fall and brief hospitalization. The staff at Emerge have been warm and embracing from the start providing excellent care. Emerge Concierge Angelo has been instrumental in keeping our family connected with my mother during these unprecedented times. His reassurance and positive attitude have lessened our anxiety. With COVID restrictions in place, Angelo has been a godsend. Angelo is a wonderful advocate for both patients and their families. He tirelessly and meticulously attended to our family’s needs by answering questions and solving issues. His consistently positive approach is very comforting during these difficult times. Thanks much to both Angelo and the staff at Emerge.Lawrence G. Bassin, M.D.
My 21 y/o son suffered a devastating TBI on New Year’s Eve 2020, in Florida. When I was trying to bring him home to NY, Emerge was the only neuro rehab facility that would accept him from out of state during this pandemic. Their neuro rehab program is highly regarded & provides excellent support. The entire staff at Emerge, from the Recreation Aides to the nursing staff, his rehab therapists & the neuro director , Wendell Miller, have all been wonderful. They address my questions & concerns & have been going above & beyond to help my son. I’m so grateful to have found them.
This is probably the best rehabilitation Ive ever brought my grandmother to. Theyre so welcoming, they treated my grandma as if she were their own. They would always update me with every little thing that was going on with her. The recovery was wayyyyyyy quicker than we expected!!!!I took my chances walking into this facility, but now I feel lucky that I did. Im grateful for every staff member that help made this process so easy and comfortable for my grandmother and I.Im committed to this place, I cant lie, made me feel as if my family were the ones working with my grandma.I strongly recommend this place!!! I wish I could rate this place 10 stars, 5 stars is an understatement!Take action, you wont regret it, Thanks again Emerge Nursing and Rehab
My mom was at one of the top TBI program in New York State area and was transferred to Emerge Nursing and Rehabilitations in Glencove to there Neurological Program. We had no idea what to expect after taking a tour and checking the facility out . We were impressed from the moment we meet with admission director and the neuro program coordinator Mr. Wendel. We can’t thank the Neurological Team of highly skilled therapist for taking good care of my mom . My dad and I felt at easy knowing she is being helped . The program coordinator was exceptional and knowledgeable on TBI. He educated my uncle and mom constantly . We are forever greatful to this facility especially the Neuro Rehab and Wendel.
My stay here at emerge rehabilitation has been fantastic , The entire staff has been on top of my care from the minute I had came to the facility Even though I’m ready to go home I will miss it here at emerge rehabilitation .Angelo in guest relations has been a god sent always seeing what he can do to make my stay here at emerge more Comfortable and the food was delicious thank you Hunter Brett
I have a loved one at Emerge with the Neuro program. I always have so many questions and concerns your Neuro director wendell miller always goes above and beyond to address all of them , I definitely feel more at ease when I speak with him. .He is a great asset to this company. :))
My mother spent almost three weeks at this facility, and although the physical therapists were very caring and nurturing, the aides were a completely different story. Some of the aides were very nice and caring to my mother, while others were physically rough and did not have the compassion needed for this type of job. The facility is extremely short-staffed, resulting in numerous calls for assistance being ignored. When an aide would respond to call to help my mom in/out of bed/wheelchair, there would only be one aide available, even though my mother required a two-person assist. On several occasions, the aide instructed my mother to go in her adult diaper instead of taking her to the bathroom. On one instance, the aide insisted that my mother lift herself from the toilet, resulting in my mother falling on the bathroom floor. Several days later when we asked nursing management about the fall, they had no record that a fall had occurred, since the staff did not file the paperwork required by New York State. The facility may look clean and shiny, but I would never recommend anyone place a family member in this facility.
I have to say, this facility has really come around. I came in for a tour to find a rehab for my sister who suffered a stroke, I remember the old building, Marquis from years ago and I honestly did not recognize the place. Apparently they have a new neuro program designed for post stroke patients now, so that alone made me feel very confident choosing this place for my sister and now she can’t thank me enough! I definitely recommend Emerge and that program
My mother spent approximately 48 hours here while waitng to return to the Glen Cove Rehab Center which was under Quarantine. Her room was brown. There were patients just sitting in their wheelchairs sadly looking like they were waiting to die. The worst is the Aides! When she rang for help, the response was to say something derogatory. An Aide stole a homemade blanket right in front of my mother! She reported it and nothing was done.
I just recently got out of emerge after having a severe battle with pneumonia. I needed to come here to learn how to walk and gain use of my muscles. I just have to say my stay there was amazing. From the staff, the nurses, physical therapists etc. Never once did i not feel like they cared. I wanna do a shoutout to the admission folks Angelo and Nestle, my two beautiful therapists Marie and Poalo, who got me back on my feet. Also Rocco who served me coffee and baked goods, and not too bad to look at lol. And my vanessa who gave me my meds. Love you all. As much as I wanted to leave, when it was time, I felt sad. Thank you all. Love to all, keep doing what you’re doing. Love Charlene
In these strange Covid times, the Emerge staff went above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of our brother, and getting him back up to speed after what has been a roller coaster ride of a year for him. Ricky, Angelo, Susan, Kathleen, Nyree, Ashana, Adrienne, Wendell and so many others, we can’t thank you all enough!
My stay at this facility was a nightmare, although the physical therapy was helpful in regaining my strength as for aide it is EXTREMELY short staffed. Elderly are treated without the dignity deserved. Check another facility. The appearance is one that is attractive, but the patient will leave worst than which they came if they get to leave!!!

2021-08-25I love how Emerge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center does so much for the community of Glen Cove. Over the years Kathy Santucci and Mary Suddell have created a plethora of programs that invest in the wellness and education of the seniors. These programs which are attended by several seniors in the community are so excited to attend these programs. Emerge has graciously provided these programs free of charge. Especially during these times some seniors may be on fixed incomes; their health and wellness is imperative. These programs educate the seniors on healthy living and aging and practicing self care.My company This Balance Life (ThisBalanceLife.com) has worked with Kathy and Mary for Emerge over the summer with their Wellness Wednesday . The seniors learned the importance of movement, meditation, the art of letting things go that doesnt serve them and the beauty of gratitude. Emerge is an exceptional company and resource to the community of Glen Cove

2021-08-17I recently had total knee replacement and my surgeon recommended Emerge when I told him I wanted to go to inpatient rehab. Boy am I glad he recommended this place! From the minute I arrived I felt very comfortable and well cared for. I was very happy with both the physical and occupational therapy I received. Freddy was my physical therapist and he was caring, knowledgeable and very easy to work with. I had Kim as my occupational therapist and she was kind, patient and encouraging. They both had the assets one would want for a therapist and pushed me to get the most out of my therapy. The nurses were caring and attentive and I felt very comfortable in their care. While in the hallways of the facility I often was greeted with smiles and by name from the employees. I am having my second knee replaced in the next couple of months and look forward to my second stay at Emerge. I honestly don’t feel I would be where I am at now if I hadn’t gone to Emerge. Today is four weeks since my surgery. Thank you to everyone at Emerge for everything!

2021-11-28We had a good experience at Emerge. The staff was compassionate and supportive to all of our fathers needs. They helped us get to a point that we were able to transition back home. Ricky Palomo especially went above and beyond in guiding and facilitating us through a very difficult situation. He even led a support group that was very informative and emotionally uplifting.

2021-12-21We had our clinical experience here and it was a great learning experience. The staff were all very polite, caring and professional. They made the experience here fun and exciting. If there’s any nursing home site id recommend out of all the ones I did clinical at, it would be this one.

2022-05-16Over 12 weeks father has been here, visitors, toilet broken for those 12 weeks. First day father arrived, staff assigned was angry as already overworked. I see why now. Inductive of management cost saving in general.

2021-10-05My father was a patient there this year, this is the best place in Nassau and Queens for patients with traumatic brain injury. The staff is very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, they care about their patient’s recovery and work hard to get them back home as best as they can be. During Covid they also worked very hard to keep the patients safe while allowing for family members to visit. A hospital social worker highly recommended this place to us when my father was in the hospital for over two weeks, am so glad that she did. I would also highly recommend this place, my father was a patient at another nursing home this year prior to his admission to Emerge, the difference between the two facilities were so stark that there is not sufficient space here to describe them.

2021-07-16My mom was here for three months and I wished she could have stayed longer! She made such great progress thanks to her dedicated therapists (Sue and Kelly, to name a couple). She was well taken care of by the staff, thanks to Edna. And the lines of communication were always open. I felt at ease knowing that someone (mostly Lisa!!! And Ricardo and Adrienne) was there for me. Highly recommend. You will not regret it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

2021-08-25Let me just start off by saying I made the right decision for my father to come to here for his rehab. The staff here went above and beyond all of them are amazing and care like theyre taking care of their own family. This is the place to go if you are in need of rehab hopefully you wont but if you do I cant say thank you enough. My father has made a full recovery thanks to them and I dont think if it wasnt for them he would have. They even got him out earlier then the expected date. I cant say it enough thank you thank you thank 🙏. We are all grateful.

2021-07-27My sister was a patient in the Emerge Neuro rehab unit after suffering a stroke. The quality of care and the progress she made under the guidance of the Physical and Occupational therapy teams was nothing short of a miracle. They understood that she had been a highly functioning woman before the stroke, and they would settle for nothing less upon her discharge. The quality and amount of rehabilitation therapy she received seven days a week was lightyears ahead of other subacute facilities we had looked into. Every single staff member at Emerge - from the lady at the front desk to the social workers, nurses, aides, director,.... was understanding, incredibly helpful, willing to listen and go out of his or her way to make my sister comfortable during her time at Emerge.

2021-12-21I did my 2nd semester clinical rotation at Emerge. It was a very and exciting and rewarding experience. The staff at Emerge was very nice and always willing to help and teach us.
