Being at ECP has inspired me to pursue my dreams and help save many lives. I had the pleasure of having Karen Fiorello and a lot others as my instructors and they’re the best I could ask for. They’re there to help whenever you need it and as much as you need it. They make sure that you know how it feels to be on the field, what you have to do and definitely make sure that you MAKE SURE that “YOUR SCENE IS SAFE”. This has been the best experience and I’m happy I’m a part of the EMS family. Karen also gives you the opportunity to become an instructor and help others as well as they helped you.
ECP is a very well run program with a fanatic team. From the beginning when I was speaking with the office through the orientation and into the classes I was extremely happy with everyone.Karen was our lead instructor and I was very impressed with her knowledge and skills. She gave us access to her personal EMT page which has videos, slides and more information which is all extremely helpful for succeeding in class. The videos of the skills station were detailed and well put together and her slides matched the lectures she gave us.All of Karen’s practical instructors are EMT’s who work in the field and have experience. Their knowledge and skills demonstrations were good. Like each of us, each instructor was different with different tips and tricks on how to succeed in the field.Overall I was very happy with class, Karen, the other instructors and the ECP’s team. I recommend ECP as an excellent way to gain the knowledge and skills to become an EMT!
This school is not a very good school for beginners. Some of the staff are not clear with their words and one can not understand what is being said , they speak very fast and not everyone can keep up. The professors are ok especially Jason and cosmo John are great. The student usually have different professors and they all teach different do it is confusing. I would not recommend this school. Unless you are already an EMT and doing a refresher course.
I recently completed the EMT-B course with Jonathan Sherman and it was a wonderful experience! Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable on the subject material and gives students all the tools they need to succeed. The class was rigorous and all the instructors expect a high level of proficiency from their students but they are kind and fair. I would highly recommend taking this class with Jonathan and his team. Thank you, Jonathan!
If you are looking to take the EMT course definitely will recommend emergency care programs!!! I had karen as my instructor hands down the best human being to ever live. Very smart and intelligent and down to earth. Will always make sure you are on track and will never leave you behind. Failure is not an option on her watch!
The instructors at ECP prepare their students not only for the NYS exams but also allow their students to experience the world of an EMT before they enter the field! I had a great experience with ECP and am excited and motivated to enter the EMT field knowing I learned everything from the best instructors and role models of this program! Overall a very positive and engaging experience for anyone looking to enter EMS. I would recommend this to anyone looking to have a great experience prior to becoming an EMT!!! Thank you Karen and to all the instructors :)
Taking the EMT -B class with Karen was one of the best experiences I’ve had. All of the instructors were so helpful and ensured success in every single student. I would not choose another place to take my course if I were to do it again. Now I’m a certified EMT and am so thankful for all the connections emergency care programs has given! Definitely worth it!
I would 100% recommended ECP to anyone looking to become an EMT. I had Karen as my instructor and she is the best. She genuinely wants the best for her students, makes class fun and interesting, and takes care of each and every one of us. Other instructors including Moshe, Luc, Melissa, Annie, Chandler, Richy, Rachel, Irene, Yitzy and Daniel were all great. I had an amazing time at ECP, one of the best learning experiences Ive had so far.
I would 100% recommend Emergency Care Programs to anybody interested in getting there EMT certification. I just came out of the last class (Nov 2019) Make sure you request to be in Karen Fiorello’s class. She really knows her stuff, is a great teacher and if you’re willing to do your part and put in the work I can promise you with Karen as your instructor you will pass and will walk away feeling confident in your skills and knowledge as an EMT!
Took the summer intensive course going in thinking it would too difficult and too much to handle. However, the instructors were amazing, wanting all students to learn and succeed. They prepared us well in both lectures and practical skills. Class was extremely enjoyable, and I would recommend to anyone who wants to take an EMT course.
I loved my course and instructor. While its true that I had to work hard to gain my EMT Certification, I appreciate it all the more. My main instructor demanded the best from me and from the rest of my class. It makes sense, as we are being trained to save peoples lives. We certainly need to know what we are doing. The other instructors were great as well. Each one in their own way. I love these guys. Yes there was a lot of reading and online work, and they pushed us to practice skills over and over again, but it hopefully will make me into a great EMT. I want to be the best out there. I plan to become a Paramedic in the next few years and this course will take me a long way. I hope to start working as an EMT very soon and am so excited, while nervous at the same.
The EMT-B class far exceeded my expectations. Karen was an outstanding instructor and the the other EMTs who helped with the practical sessions were also great. I think Karens dedication to the profession and her ability to engage the students with a no-nonsense attitude while still being caring and supportive made all the difference in the learning environment. The quick pace of the accelerated course was demanding at times with having other responsibilities, but Karen inspired me to always do my best and I hope I make her proud!
If you want to become a great EMT, choose Karen as your instructor. I guarantee at the end of the course you will leave with so much confidence and knowledge. She truly does care about each individual’s goal to succeed. I admire her passion and the love she has for this particular field. Thanks to Karen I wouldn’t have done it without her and the wonderful people on her team...Melanie
When I signed up for this school, I was a little worried because of some of the bad reviews I read. After finishing the course and getting my certification, I will tell you that this school is great. My main instructor was awesome. Her lessons told me everything I needed to know. The other instructors were equally helpful. The reviews that was posted by some people saying that they kick people out after they pay their tuition is a complete lie. To be perfectly blunt, it’s a school, meaning if you fail you get kicked out. On that note, only way you’re failing is if you’re not putting in the work. The instructors there will help you in any which way, including tutoring. I can’t speak for other EMT classes, but personally I would recommend this class, and my instructor Karen was an absolute amazing instructor. Whatever your reasons for being an EMT, I would go there to start on that path.
I had Karen Fiorello as my lead instructor. She is the most knowledgeable, understanding and helpful professors there, as long as you give your fair share. She keeps her classes engaging and interactive. She goes out of her way to make sure that you become a great EMT in the future.
It was amazing! I met awesome people and I have tremendous amount of respect for the instructors. When I took the EMT state exam and I was a little thrown back on how easy it was. The exams at emergency care programs are much harder to be honest. Overall great experience and time.
I had Karen as my instructor easily the best teacher Ive ever had. I feel completely comfortable with all the material, and 100% ready for real world application of that material. Shes realistic, understanding and very professional. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone.
Wow. Just wow.ECP was an incredible program from start to finish. Everyone from the office staff to the instructors were amazing. The classes were structured, organized, and very clear. The work isnt necessarily easy (and its gotta get done), but the instructors are always there to answer your questions and help you through.Special shout-out to CIC Moshe Hainic, the man who will answer your questions at 2am, and who will make sure that you are ready to ace your exams and become an incredible EMT.Also special shout-out to Eli Davis, who gives such amazing lectures that youd definitely want to hear them twice.Thank you to all the instructors whom are too numerous to name, but who were each knowledgeable, patient, and all around great role models for life in EMS.Last but not least, thank you to the incredible classes of 5052B and 5054. Couldnt have done it without you.
I would not consider great to be adequate in describing my experience here. I rather say phenomenal. The people here are extraordinaire and caring when it comes to teaching you. I would like to take this moment to give a big shout out to my class #5015, which was filled with so many nice and wonderful people, and even a bigger shout out to those who taught me. Thank You All! Moshe, Daniel, Chris, Yitzie, Annie, Olga, Luke, Matt, and Jake are all wonderful instructors, and I am thankful for their time, patience, and diligence in educating me. However, I saved the best for last, the real, true MVP was my main instructor Karen. She is a kind and thoughtful person, who does not teach for money, but because she really enjoys enlightening her students. All of the instructors make the environment a fun place to learn and make it so comfortable that at times you may even forget that youre actually in class. They all treat you like family and are always eager to answer any questions you may have. I even had the confidence to ask Karen a personal question of mine, since I knew she was an officer and a volunteer at the fire department in addition to being an instructor, and she gave me great advice and her wisdom in regards to my personal question. However, dont expect this course to be easy if you decide to be in a torpid state and refuse to read, study, and practice. This class can be easy or hard depending on your effort. Remember, teachers, professors, and instructors dont ever give you a grade. You, the students, are the ones who earn your grade. Nevertheless, Karen lives by a special code of hers: Failure is not an option. She will make sure you do fantastic in this class. She would even go as far as going out of her way to help you and make sure you do well. If your instructors ever get mad, which I hardly doubt that they ever will, it means that theyre angry because they really want you to succeed. You will meet classmates that you will be working with, and they will also help you in studying and even showing you alternate ways in doing certain procedures or better techniques that you can use in your practicals, such as a better technique in getting and listening to a blood pressure. Yet, like I said, you still have to read, study, and practice. Even though no human will ever reach a state of perfection, these instructors design you to become the best that you can be; they bring out the best in their students. Furthermore, practice does make perfect. They give you so many resources that you can use to study and practice. They teach you from the book and give you so much knowledge. In addition, they even give you real life examples, and many of the instructors are working EMTs. I would say its your best bet to take this exquisite course. If you decide to take this course, you will live life to the fullest. Keeping it 100%, I met wonderful people, enjoyed, and had fun in this class. You too will meet wonderful people, enjoy, and have fun in this class as well. I am sincerely grateful for this course, and it truly was a pleasure. Yolo, you only live once, why not have not fun while learning. Keep in mind, as an alumnus, I decided to abundantly write with truest sincerity about this course. You guys should take a hint: it was phenomenal. I am JC from NYC, and I approve of this review. Your fellow human being.
I had Karen as a instructor, and she is the best. I was in a accelerated class, she made it easy and we breezed through the material. She knows how to present the material so it’s easy to understand. She wants you to pass the course and save lives. She’s caring and passionate as an instructor, you will not find a better instructor to teach you this material.
The instructors at ECP are invested in training all who are ready and willing to join the EMS community. Karen and Moshe along with many other instructors and interns are hands on and helpful. I took the accelerated course and would recommend this program to every and anyone.
I have been in the emergency care program since October and absolutely love it. From the moment I started each and every instructor/director has been helpful and very informative. The instructors are great and do their job very well and professionally. Had there been any moment I was confused or unsure of any material my AWESOME instructor(S) have been there to clarify and explain in the best way possible for me to learn. I am personally a visual learner and learn best when I can see, touch and hear. This course does require reading and book work but don’t worry, the instructors will help you every step of the way so that you can learn the material. I love this course and I’m very grateful and fortunate to have come across this program. It has given me a new vision on life and the human body. IF YOURE LOOKING FOR CHANGE, THE EMERGENCY CARE PROGRAM IS THE WAY TO GO!!!
I would like to thank Emergency Care Program and the instructors for giving me such a wonderful experience. Being a full-time student at CUNY- Queens College in my senior year, engaged in a part-time job, I could have never imagined finishing the EMT-B course without the incredible support from my dear instructors. I am thankful and blessed to have such experienced instructors who have not only devoted their life to save lives in the field but also build up similar figures like them by giving their hundred percent to us.The course was very organized and instructors took great care to make sure that students understood the materials both during lecture and practical. They repeatedly kept us informed about the updated protocols which I believe became the key to crack the state exam.Emergency care program is a complete package and the only place where a student is guided towards the right direction, the right way. I would definitely recommend my friends to join ECP.
I took this class with Karen as my instructor and it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this program. There is a lot to the curriculum and the material can get tricky but Karen made everything easy and enjoyable to grasp. I highly recommend taking this course with Karen or Moshe. Overall everyone I encountered here was wonderful and pleasant to work with.
I took an intensive course during my college summer break. The instructors were very detail oriented to ensure that each student was getting the proper attention and learning experience. Classes were a lot of fun and hands on, so learning the material came naturally. I highly recommend this program to anybody in search of a legitimate and professional EMT course.
I had Karen as my instructor. She is a wonderful teacher that wants to see all of her students do well. You give her 100% she will give back 110%. Trust me. She would answer all my questions, and I am very appreciative. She is the best. She made our class fun and enjoyable. I will surely miss this class. THANK YOU KAREN!
I had a tremendous experience at this intuition . My instructor was very strict, however without her I couldnt have accomplish my certificate. She never gave up on us even when we gave up on ourselves. Karen Fiorello is one of the best instructor at ecp. If you are serious about becoming a good emt Karen should definitely be your instructor thank you all for the experience.
Took an accelerated course (1 month duration) and Karen was my instructor. GREATEST INSTRUCTOR AND PERSON EVERRR!!!!!!! Karen is amazing! Shes experienced, teaches very well, explains very well and is very understanding. Shes tough but nice at the same time when she needs to be. She knows how to keep an intensive EMT class with over 65 individuals under control and she really sincerely wants you to understand. Stops lectures to answer questions, even the ridiculous what if scenario questions but really wants everyone to feel comfortable with the material and understand the context. Shes a trooper for all the work that she does! You wont find a better person on this planet and you will PASS 100% guaranteed on the condition that you try hard, not give up and DO EVERYTHING THAT SHE SAYS TO DO! All you have to do is respect her and follow all of her simple and easy directions/tasks and you are good to go! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her! Moe (Moshe) also helped a lot! ECP in general is amazing. Everyone truly respects you and just want the best for you and try to help out in any way possible. Everyone was caring and respectful and you will really feel comfortable to go up to any instructor to ask a question because they will really stop and give you their full attention and help you out, the best that they can. You have the best most informative and experienced instructors there so if you want to be a skilled and knowledgeable EMT and become one of the best then THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO, GUARANTEED!
I took the EMT-B exam with Jonathan Sherman. The class was extremely well organized and taught. I am SO thankful for the training that I received and very happy with my exam results. This course was not easy - it took a lot of work and time, but it was worth every second. Thank you, Jonathan and the rest of the ECP staff! You guys are fantastic!
I took the EMT-B class in spring 2019, with Jonathan Sherman as the lead instructor. It wasnt an easy class; lot of materials to know in a short time. However, Jonathan and the assisting instructors did put a lot of effort into helping us succeed. The practical videos were very helpful. Highly recommended. Thanks Jonathan and ECP staff (Bruce, Mike, Lily, Alice, and many more…)
Taking EMT-B with Karen Fiorello is an amazing experience! Not only is she an engaging and selfless educator, but she and her team of instructors fully prepare you for not just the state exam but for life in the field. Karen goes the extra mile for each of her students. By the end of this course, you will be a very competent professional ready to enter the workplace.
Karen, Mo, and Yitz are great. They teach what the book says and they also give you real life scenarios that apply to what you are learning. They will take you to water but you have to drink it. They will teach you what you need to know, it is your job to study and practice. Show up, practice, study, and listen.Karen goes above and beyond to make sure you are doing what you are supposed to do. The class is good but it is better that she is there. Also, the main office does a great job. Rebekkah was helpful.
ECP at Bay Parkway, what an amazing experience! What amazing Instructor I had, (Karen) who really wanted all of us to succeed! There are many wonderful instructors here whove helped me and others pass and understand the materials we need to know. Karen really is wonder women, she knows it all, and aside from kicking our behinds, this lady helped us all succeed and pass with flying colors! If you want to become an EMT, ECP is the way to go!!!
I was very fortunate to have Karen as my professor, she knew exactly how to teach in a variety of ways so that all types of learners can understand the material well. She intertwined the informative lessons with life lessons and provided plenty of broken down examples when the material was difficult to learn. They say you learn best when you have a teacher who is involved and making the material interesting and I can promise you Karen does exactly that.
Great program, great people, great instructors, may seem intimidating at first but once you keep up with the work and retain the information and skills you should be fine .. the class exams are harder than the state exams to better prepare you for the state which is great and easy .. some ambulance services are associated with the company so they do help find employment.. but overall great experience I had many times where I felt like giving up but they don’t allow you to .. unless you really want to lol but I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to become and emt ! My instructor was Todd .
Karen is simply the best instructor you could ever dream of. Bold, attentive, frank, and compassionate are the words that describe her personality completely. Do the online lectures ON-TIME (you’ll see how it benefits you in many ways), pay attention to the lectures in class, if you don’t understand something say something she won’t bite (if she raises her voice a little bit or curses it’s because she cares & really wants you to understand the material), don’t look up everything online you have your textbook and class notes for a reason, everything Karen tells you to write down and says it will be a test question....it will be....so write it down and study it. It’s the little things that you think you don’t need to focus on because they don’t seem major that will end up being exactly what you should focus on. Take heed, participate, listen attentively or you’ll miss something important, get your health forms in, pay attention at all times during lectures/practicals/& your ambulance rotation, be respectful of yourself and others because you will be touching people’s bodies, wear comfortable & appropriate clothing, don’t be afraid to speak up because out in the field you can’t be shy to speak to others and you’ll meet different walks of life. You really will be confident with the material you learn and perform once you keep practicing and realize your strengths and weaknesses so you can spend more time on what you are not strong in. The main thing is to keep Karen posted about where you are as far as what you understand and don’t understand and she will guide you along the way. Also, don’t be afraid to pull her to the side and talk to her about anything going on in your life outside of class because she cares enough about you to converse/reason with you. She’ll be like a second mother to you...at least that’s how I feel.......🙂good luck guys. Also Annie, Laurie, Moshe, & Yosef are good instructors and they’re passionate about their field of work.
I chose to take the accelerated course this summer and went in nervous, doubting my decision. I can say that over the course, I improved on many fronts. I went in glad that I stuck it out. Karen Fiorello was by far the most amazing and memorable teacher I’ve had. The other instructors that joined us (Chris, Luc, Amanda, Moon, Shirley, Juan, and others) were incredible. Not only did I love this class and learn a lot, I left feeling like I had another family. Because of Karen’s teaching style, the class grew close. Best experience at ECP!
I had Moishe Hainic as my lead instructor.Hes extremely knowledgable, ready to help out anyone!!He stands on top of everything making sure that you know everything from lectures to practicals!!I had a great experience at ECP would recommend it to anyone looking to become a EMT.THANK YOU MOISHE!!!!!!
I took the program with Karen, and she is hands down one of the best instructors I have ever had. She puts in more than 110% to ensure that she can be reached, and that she can help you. She covers all the material thoroughly, is always there if you have a question, and really puts in every possible effort to get her students to do well. She works exceptionally hard to make sure her class does more than just pass. The course is a lot of work. Which is reasonable, given the role of an EMT. And Karen is strict, but she is nowhere near unreasonable. Her expectations of her students is to do what they have to do, meaning handing in assignments on time, being on time and keeping up with the material. And that really does make all that she does that much more impressive. The amount of work she puts into teaching her students and ensuring their success is much much more than what she is asking for in return. The instructors she brings for practical skills day are also all amazing. They are approachable, funny, knowledgeable and equally as driven as Karen to make sure that the students complete the course and become quality EMTs. And they all do more than just teach the skills. They give tips and they provide a lot of insight into the things we might encounter in the field. And last, but certainly not least, there is Moshe. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and despite not being the instructor for my course, he was always there to answer a question. From the instructions I received from him, he would also rank up their as one of the best.I highly recommend the program to everyone that is serious about becoming and EMT, and willing to put in the work needed to succeed. Even with the wonderful instruction provided, a lot of effort, studying and practicing is needed. However, everyone here definitely gives the students every possible resource they need to succeed, and provide a wonderful and fun environment while doing so. Try to get into Karen or Moshes class.TLDR; great program, Karen is an mvp!!
Great experience, my instructor Eli was very knowledgeable and encouraged us students to ask questions and always had answers. Prepared us to pass exams and to understand the concepts. If someone didn’t understand a topic Eli would go over it as many times as possible until it was understood. Emergency care programs also helped me get a job 2 weeks after taking my state exam. Very thankful and grateful for the experience.
My experience at Emergency Care Programs was top notch. All of my instructors were still active in EMS and had years of experience in both teaching and in the field. The lectures were informative and very enjoyable at the same time. Joe and the other instructors constantly pushed us to practice and review the skills and lectures and always had plenty of war stories to keep us entertained.Immediately after completing the course and receiving my certification, I got a job. Six weeks in, I had my first cardiac arrest patient. My partner, another recent ECP grad, and I knew exactly what to do. We followed our training and got ROSC on the way to the hospital. While I was definitely nervous, I was also confident. I knew that I received an excellent education, and I highly recommend Emergency Care Programs to anyone interested in becoming an EMT.
I had Eli as an instructor and he was just all around amazing. All of his presentations were very well put together, and anything he explained to the class was extremely through. As for the skills instructors, they also did a really great job at demonstrating all the nesscary skills to complete the course. Especially Ann Marie, who went above and beyond to make sure all the students can perform the skills on an expert level and helped us to memorize each of the nesscessary steps. Her performance in skill demonstrations and creating scenarios was just overall outstanding. I would definitely recommend this course to others who are looking into becoming EMTs and I highly suggest that you try to get Eli as an instructor and Ann Marie as a skills instructor.
Had an incredible experience here at ECP. Karen is the best teacher there. She knows her stuff and really cares about all her students. She’ll help prepare you for the field as long as you put 110% effort in it. Her motto in her class “Failure is not an option”. Her passing rate is 100% and it’s 1000% true. If you’re deciding to start your medical career at ECP, make sure you take Karen’s class. You’ll definitely be in good hands. 🙏🏼#Class4836
My instructor was Karen and I absolutely loveee her !! She really really reallyyy cares about the success of her students, not only inside the classroom but even outside working in the field. She goes above and beyond to give is the tools we need to succeed and you actually learn so much. Shes hard on her students but it’s literally because she truly cares. But honestly, 99% of the time shes a jokester, really energetic, and has a great sense of humor. I learned but i also had fun. ECP also has great instructors, especially Mo! Couldnt have done as well as i did without his help & motivation. Thank you ECP !
Stepping into ECP i didn’t know what i was getting myself into. The experience was excellent. My course instructor was AMAZING (Karen Fiorello) she shows tuff love and dedication to all her students. Karen has made this experience worth it along with the skill instructors that push you no matter how much you wanna give up shout out to Annie , Richy, Amanda , Moon , Shirley , Matthew & Troy & Chris. These people are the go to if you are trying to succeed in this field. They are pretty tuff but it’s only cause they want you to know what your doing once u hit the road. Thank you so much Karen for my new career and the new skills i have learned at ECP. #4819.
I was currently taking a class there my instructor wasnt the best. Yosef Travis was not fair to his students his teaching skills were horrible. He did not give enough time for us to study for an exam. He would tell the class the shut up and thats very unprofessional. He gives us a review sheet two days before an exam to study. I emailed the office to let them know I would not be attending this class anymore and I never got a response.I finally called and spoke to a women name Leah she was very rude and nasty over the phone. She kept talking over me and would not listen to what I had to say. All she was concern and yelling over the phone saying that I owe money which was a lie because I paid for everything. They dont let you take exams if your missing a payment it could be a dollar off and they still would not let you take it. It seems like they care more about the money then actually helping people out.
I would definitely recommend this class. I took the accelerated course with Karen Fiorello this summer and it was a great decision. It was a nurturing learning environment and the instructors did a perfect job providing knowledge and guidance. You should choose this program before any others if you are on the fence.
My experience in this class with Karen Fiorello as my instructor was much more than anyone pursuing a career in EMS could ask for. Karen, as well as ECP as a school, care about the success and growth of their students more than anything; as promised to all of my classmates and I by Karen on our very first day of class, each and every one of us walked out of the classroom knowing how to save a life.
I just took the EMT refresher with ECP. We had very knowledgeable instructors and they gave us some very helpful information in protocols and their applications in the field. The instructors have lots of experience teaching and on the streets so they really make it an enjoyable class. You will still have to study! SAVE A LIFE!
I took the intensive 2-month summer course with Joseph Itzkowitz as my instructor. I learned everything I needed to know for the exam--if not more. Sure this is important, but what i loved most was that we were taught based on what we need to know as practicing EMTs, not as a test-takers. My class was 5-hours long but Joe (my instructor) made every minute enriching and extremely fun. Not just Joe, but all the instructors at ECP are amazing! They are always there to help. I definitely recommend signing up with ECP!
Joined the 3 month program and although it was pretty intense studying, the instructors all made it easier for us to learn. I actually miss going to class after work. The professor was also pretty awesome. He taught us what was important to know. Once the state written extensively can came in, I left the room feeling very confident when I finished. Thank you!
Highly recommend this program. I had Moshe (aka Mo) as an instructor and I dont think there is anyone better. He is extremely thorough and went above and beyond to help us learn the material. I usually have to go over studying 3-4 times for it to stick, but Mo had helpful tips and hints with each chapter to help memorize and actually learn. When it came time for the tests and more importantly real life situations, I felt prepared. I attribute a lot of it to how we learned how to prep for anything. Thank you Mo!!!
There is really not much to say here except this is the place to be. I took an accelerated one month course and my instructor Karen knew exactly how to manage the time. Asides from the fact that she is extremely intelligent, she is so experienced in the field that if time allows, she will answer the most interesting scenarios that may come to your mind. If you plan on taking a course or are even looking into one, I would highly recommend Emergency Care Programs.
A friend who took this class put me on to it and I can’t thank him enough. I took the accelerated class with Karen Fiorello in the summer and it was the best experience of my life. Karen will really stick out her neck for anyone. As well as the other instructors, as long as you show that you are here to learn and become an emt, they will help you every step of the way. I can’t think of any other place that can do it better then this school.
ECP is great & highly recommend, I took the class w. Karen Fiorello and she is the BEST,she loves teaching &she loves helping as long as she sees you trying and willing to learn. STUDY STUDY...They OFFER TUTORING Incase you need extra help during the course .. this experience was FUN , AMAZING & I LEARN ALOT ! The instructors are always there to support & encourage us to do our best and prepare us very very well for the exams . . A BIG THANK YOU TO KAREN ❤️. You help me a lot & I forever be thankful for all the stuff I know now .Class 4925
Amazing experience from ECP with Karen and other skill instructors. If you want a CIC that knows their material, choose Karen as your instructor. If you give 100% effort shell reciprocate with 200%. Everyone from our class worked for our results and passed. We have Karen, Roo, Lori, Mo, Chris, Anne and others to thank for that. CHOOSE KAREN AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR!
Tuition comes with textbook, online code, stethoscope, and blood pressure cuffs. I took the 2 days/week class during the summer (June-August). It’s run very well and very professionally. Lead and assistant instructors always kept everyone on track. They mandated a dress code which is great- I didn’t have to look at anyone’s asscrack/cleavage or deal with students being inappropriate during class time. Lectures and practical skill days were spaced efficiently so I didn’t feel overwhelmed. Lectures were designed to give the most important informations relevant to EMT duties and NREMT tests; very no-nonsense. We were given ample time to practice our skills as well.Karen, my lead instructor, was always available to answer additional questions after class. Assistant instructors were also always available during class time to provide real-life tips of the trade. I would absolutely recommend this program for anyone who’s serious about learning. That being said, please read below:THIS IS AN INTENSIVE CLASS! READ YOUR CONTRACT/CLASS PAMPHLET! Background of biology really helps. You must pass all tests and do all the homework assignments in order to qualify for the national exam. If you miss class, you get slammed with more homework- so don’t miss class! Fail too many tests or miss too many days/assignments, you will be asked to drop out. This is NOT your regular high school/college class. You must treat classwork/homework like your future EMT duties. Environment of the class reflects future EMT work, which is often stressful both physically and mentally (getting the work done/“the patient” relies on you- “too tired” is no excuse!) If you struggle to pick up things quick or have no background in science, I would recommend taking a less intensive class from this program. My class met for approx. 7 hours a day. They do have classes that meet for shorter periods that would allow more time to retain information. Ask for Karen’s class! She’s the best! She’s one of the instructors who work hard irregardless of her own personal stress.
Joining ECP was by far the best experience of my life. I met many wonderful people and learnt skills that enable me to live a better life and help the lives of others. Moshe Hainic was a truly phenomenal instructor who devoted everything he had to my class and I. I am forever grateful.
Joseph Itzkowitz along with the rest of our instructors were impressively helpful. Whether it was giving a lecture or helping out individuals, they were always there and able. I would highly recommend Emergency Care Programs to anyone interested in becoming an EMT. Thanks again!
Very well run class. Karen will do so much for you to know everything you need to know to be a good emt, and for you to pass as long as you put effort into the course. I didnt think of myself as someone whod end up as an emt but this class made me feel like I can handle it.Granted, quite a few people are kicked out because they miss deadlines for assignments or because of poor performance on tests, and so it might be a challenge for some. EMS is definitely not a fallback plan for highschool deadbeats. However, its still very doable if youre willing to work for it. If youre good at knowing stuff, thats great, youll probably pass the tests and the practicals without too much of an issue, but even if youre not, you can still very well get through this course if youre someone who puts effort into things. This program is also well recognized by EMS companies, which is also a plus. If youre looking to be an EMT, Karens class is a great place to start, even if she seems intimidating. This program is legit.
Karen’s class is definitely the best of them all! No offense Mosche. Everyone was super helpful and patient. They were always there to help and explain in detail any questions you through at them. I’m so happy and proud to say I JUST passed the course in Karens class today and the rest of my classmates as well. 100% will recommend.
Terrible! Please read before you take this program. I have passed this course only because I alone put in effort and studied for everything myself. Yes Instructors did answer every question as they should, but every instructor gave a different answer to the same question. They kept confusing us with the protocols even though the BOOK which THEY gave us always said different. That is why their rating is still 4.8 stars. Take B and H if you can at least they have a 5.0 star rating. Hope this helps :)
My teacher was Karen, she was amazing. She helped me understand everything in the course and they’re we’re no miscommunications. When she say she’s helping you more than 100%, please believe it... she is. Thank you so much Karen... and the instructors were a huge help.
Moishe is an incredible man and instructor, he is sharp smart and comes across extremely clear, he is not only your instructor he is your mentor until the end, it is a tremendous pleasure to sit in his class you appreciate every second you sit with him ! Mo keep it up and keep going strong you are the best of the best out there !!
I took the two month intensive course over the summer and had a great time. The course covered a lot of material and helped me obtain all the necessary skills needed not just to pass the exams (both written and practical) but to succeed in the field. The staff is very friendly and supportive as well.
ECP provided the best option for a college student looking to complete their certification. The accelerated class that Karen Fiorello taught during the summer was exceptional. I felt that every aspect of being an EMT-B was covered and the additional instructors were able to provide knowledge and skills directly from the street, as most of them were working FDNY 911. Anyone looking to learn how to be an exceptional EMT and master their skills, should definitely look into completing their course here.
I took the intensive course with Joseph Itzkowitz as my main instructor. When I first walked into the classroom, I honestly wasnt sure what to expect. Perhaps a living hell? Probably. In all honesty, this class CAN be like hell if you dont put forth any effort. Dont procrastinate and you will do just fine. For first month, there is a lot of outside reading and interactive online homework assignments to complete. You may get assigned additional work if you are late. If you dont complete certain ones or a certain number, you dont get to take the final exam. A lot of exam material also comes directly from the textbook and is not mentioned at all in lecture, so skipping the reading does not benefit you. Some exam questions are also from NYS protocols, which are constantly updating and can be annoying to keep up with. This forces you to actually take the time to review your written materials and retain them. Overall, the workload is very rigorous, but it is relatively well-paced and keeps you occupied. After the first month, the second is much more practical skills oriented and there is no formal homework, but you should still practice skills as much as you are able to outside the classroom. Various other instructors come in to demonstrate skills to us throughout the course, including EMTs training to become certified instructors. Now, the issue here is that every instructor has his/her own way, or may have been taught differently than another instructor. In the real world, things are not nearly as structured as a classroom, so differences in technique are reasonable. The main instructor will usually be circulating around, so there are plenty of chances to ask for clarification on something. There are a lot of written tests and quizzes. Quizzes are relatively short, about 25 questions, and usually only cover a singular big topic. Tests are 100 questions and are cumulative, but with an emphasis on recently covered topics. You get plenty of time, but the questions tend to be long and make you actually think hard before committing to an answer, especially on later tests. This really helps in preparing for the final certification exam, as the test questions we were given were actually harder than the exam ones. The instructors, while being relatively tame at first, will get progressively more and more stern as the course goes on. They will drill you and continuously make you start all over during a practical skill if you so much as mess up once until you get it right. This may sound cruel, but the constructive criticism helps, and you are more likely to remember what you did wrong the more often you are barked at to start again for a small mistake. In addition, when you are actually in the field, any time spent on trying to make up for an error can shave off precious time off of a patients life. Think of it as tough love. The instructors dont hate you, they just want to see you succeed...uh, at least I think thats their intention. I hope it is.Most of my practical skills instructors were very friendly, sharing stories and getting to know the students on lunch break. They vary in background and experience, so its very interesting to see how one persons technique differs from anothers. As for my main instructor, Joe, he kept the lectures very interactive, showing funny video clips or asking the audience members questions between slides. Joe also had a strange, dark sense of humor, which may be considered offensive, but it didnt faze me all that much. He is very approachable, but acts serious and professional when he needs to.The way Emergency Care Programs is structured promotes retention of information for the long run, critical thinking, analysis, and the well informed application of practical skills. At the same time, ECP provides a welcoming atmosphere and top notch instructors. They go above and beyond to prepare you not just for the NYS EMT certification exam, but for a career or volunteer as an EMT. Even with all the minor nitpicks I had, its not enough to really detract a star from the overall rating.
Karen is the best, I would recommend this program too anyone that is looking to become an emt. Karen would give you 110% so that you would understand everything you are trying to learn. Plus the instructors she pick out to come and help you are the best. They really know what they are doing and would go out of there way to help you understand.
I took a accelerated emt course which was basically three months work put into one, it was a lot of information but Karen was an amazing instructor, she really helped every step of the way and truly wants everyone to pass! Moe also helped a lot and I am so greatful for them both! Don’t be discouraged!!!
I took my EMT class this past winter at ECP bay parkway with Fred as my instructor. I can honestly say that Fred and all the other instructors helped me more than any one else. I come from a family of EMTs. My brother, father, grandfather, uncles, and aunt were or still are EMTs at one point in their lives. Even with the help I received from them I still couldnt have done it without ECP. ECP offers free tutoring to their students 2 times a week and you can tell that the instructors really want you to excel. I was super nervous when it came to the day of my state exam but it wasnt because I didnt feel like I knew the material, it was more that I didnt want to get the lowest grade in my family. It turned out my fears were unfounded because I actually got the highest grade thanks to ECP! Now I can proudly introduce my self as Allan Pearlman, New York State EMT 🙂Thanks ECP!
Instructors were amazing and well knowledged in the material and how to teach it.Honestly came out a different person just from the whole experience.I highly recommend this program to anyone.Help was always available, including tutoring after class. And made great friends in the program.Thank you ECP!
Going to ECP was a choice i would never regret making! I went to ECP with little to no knowledge of the EMS world and now im leaving with such great knowledge! All the instructors that i encounter with, wanted the best from each and every students. They wanted nothing but the best from us! Yosef, Moshe, Irene, Michelle, Troy, and Margaret are all great instructors and i wouldnt have accomplished what i have accomplished if it wasnt for them!
Pros-patient, fun, and knowledagable staff that never lead a boring class; honorable mentions: Jason, Michele, Peter, and Cosmo. The 50 Sheffield Avenue facility is clean, well-lit, and comfortable in all kinds of weather.Con-The tremendous amount of reading assigned between each class can become overwhelming. Once you fall behind on the reading, it is extremely difficult to catch up and even more difficult to carefully and thoroughly review the reading material. Struggling to complete and review the reading assignments would be understandable if most of the reading material featured in the final exam, but my final exam did not test me on a lot of the reading material that I spent entire nights awake to try to complete, which, needless to say, is incredibly frustrating, especially because that time and effort would have been better spent reading and reviewing material that prominently featured in the final exam, which possibly would have improved my final exam score. Although instructors cannot be reasonably expected to accurately predict exactly what will be tested on the final exam, if the instructors could somehow decrease the reading workload to focus more on the subjects and topics that typically prominently feature in the final exam, students who would otherwise possibly struggle to catch up to or stay up to date with the reading assignments wouldnt have to struggle as much or at all and would have more time and energy to review and study more often. In short, the EMT training program can benefit from trimming the fat off its total reading workload.-Carlos Torres
Highly recommend going to this school even though i didn’t succeed based on my own academic problems it’s a well played out adventure. Ms Karen And Ms Irene Quinn are wonderful people who are charismatic in what they do. If you’re passionate about The Medical Field and have a lil bit a New York in you too😉
I began my EMT training at a different training institution, but I very quickly came to realize that Ive wasted allot of money and am wasting my time. I then signed up to ECP. ECP was exactly what I was looking for. With our head instructor Todd and his amazing team we were taught with upmost professionalism and lots of patience. Their dedication to each and every student was paramount.I would highly recommend ECP to any person interested in becoming an EMT or to one looking for a refreshers course.
50 Sheffield Brooklyn was the Location where I complated my course and it has led me to completing a career in EMS.It took a few months of intensive study and testing but I would not trade that for anything in the ECP they taught you how to save a life! I would like to thank you for all my instructors for going above and beyond. make sure that we were all ready. Not everybody gets the life of another but EMTs do and I can not wait to start my journey..it did not possible without ECP.Thank you again!
ECP has high standards, and prepares us beyond the expectations of the written and practical state exams. With the practical skills exam just a week ago, we prepared for the day by demonstrating complete proficiency for each skills. When it was time for the official evaluation, I was able to show strong knowledge and application of the skills all because of the rigorous training that got me there. Likewise, the course exams/quizzes were tough, but I would not be able to walk out of my state written exam tonight the confident person I am if I hadnt been under ECPs training. ECP was great to me, and is worthy of the highly respected praise it receives from others.
I would like to thank the ECP group for helping me achieve my goal. And a special thanks to instructor Moshe Hanic, who was always there for me.I need to thank you Moshe as you went above and beyond to make sure that I can achieve my goal.Through the course I felt that you are here for me at all times and it was not just because it is your job but more that you want to see my success...This would of never happened without you. And as a student of ECP I highly recommend this program.
I really enjoyed my time at ECP I feel everyone I had an encounter with was genuine I feel like all the instructors are knowledgeable and experienced in what they teach and are super caring and really enjoy what they do and want you to succeed ! Props to ECP for having an amazing staff ! I love being and EMT ! THANKS GUYS !
I would like to thank ECP and especially my instructor Moishe Hanic who always went above and beyond to make sure each and every student was keeping up with the classes and understood everything. As everyone knows he will dedicate as much time needed for every single student.
Thank you!!! Thank you!!!! I was at wits end couldnt find work forever, a friend recommended this place and I somehow scrambled to pay for it (was reasonable but difficult when you dont even have bus fare) the best I move I ever made!!!!! My first interview after completion of course and I was hired... now I have a weekly paycheck and even more satisfying is knowing that I make a difference in peoples lives on almost a daily basis. Best career move ever. Thank you to my instructor (dunno if I can mention your name here) for your patience with me.
I have a great experience at ECP The program was organized, I had instructor Eli who was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and had a sense of humor which kept the classes interesting and motivated us throughout the course, I would defiantly recommend taking the EMT course at ECP.
If youre looking for an interactive, positive, and supportive learning experience this is the place to go! They offer classes with highly skilled, engaging, compassionate, and fun teachers! Be prepared to WORK HARD, do your homework, study, and practice, practice, practice (they also offer extra help hours if need be)!!***If you GENUINELY want to be an EMT/be in healthcare, you will do well.***Personally, I have been a creative professional for 5 years and decided I wanted to change my career and work in healthcare. ECP gave me the confidence that I can still learn and it is never too late to follow your dreams. I am forever grateful for the knowledge, guidance, and compassion of the ECP team! Thank you so much!Shout out to Todd, Stu, Michele, Jennifer, Margaret, and Eileen! YOURE AWESOME!
As a Director of Health and Safety for a multinational company, I travel a great deal & my EMT skills have been called up in many situations. ECP (Emergnecy Care Programs) provided class room and practical skills that not only allow me to save lives but provide excellent pre-hospital care, The instructors for ECP are world class, blending technical instruction and real world experience. I have recommended the EMT training to several friends and co-workers and all of them, without exception, have had incredible outcomes and experiences. ECP, in my opinion, is a world class organization with top notch instructors. Their professionalism, dedication and expertise allow for their students to succeed in whatever capactuty they use their EMT and Medical Skills Training.
“We learn you real good”Emergency Care Programs on Homestead near Ave U is one of the few private EMT Basic classes in the NYC area. With branches closer to Queens and the Bronx, the acceptable pricing can get you towards that goal of becoming a certified Emergency Medical Technician but, statistically, it’s going to take work. Comprised of high school graduates, kids recently done with college, 40-60 hour a week working stiffs, and seasoned people looking for a career change, the seemingly harmless and straightforward curriculum can quickly chew you up and devour your money if you fail to put up the effort. Think of the directions, syllabus, and exams as all tests of your maturity. Can you correctly fill out the admission paperwork? Can you make a doctor’s appointment on your own and ensure you have the right vaccinations? Can you find the time to read the book and take notes on what is important and glance over the menial details? Will you study, just a little, for the straightforward but baby MCAT style questions? One of the more vicious but understandable policies ECP has is that failure at a milestone is failure of the course, which you can take again for a slight discount. And boy did people drop out at every milestone. Milestones, in general, are:1.CPR exam and practical2.Small exams averaging a 70 overall3.Failure to do the emergency room practical (8-12 hours of your own time, on a single day)4.Final exam meeting at least a 70 and averaging 70 overallThe curriculum is interesting and covers a huge array of topics. Reading the book is essential to confidently pass and not all material is summarized in the power point slides or lecture. Speaking of which, Fred was the primary lecturer and has been a mainstay of the NYC community for many years. Sure his jokes are corny, he is a little bit crazy, and he fits (and laughs about) the Jewish stereotype to a T. Occasionally he lacks the professionalism expected at the collegiate or business level but he does teach in an excellent manner: no matter the level of your initial understanding, his many years of experience allows him to transform the information into a way you can understand and no willing student will be left behind. The downside is that the academically stronger kids might be a little bored but that’s it; Fred can quickly ramp up the level of discussion to the doctoral level if the braniacs wanted to pick his brain. Other instructors, some still active EMTs, are a mixed bag but all bring a different perspective to the written in stone protocol. A caveat: as most emergency professionals will tell you, the book can’t prepare you for all situations, instinct is important, but you must learn from the book. Whenever an instructor deviates from the book you should bring it up and look for agreement; if there is still a disagreement, take both sources with a grain of salt. The largest downfall to ECP is the less than optimal training aides. It’s almost a fly by night operation, tucked into the basement of a Yeshiva. There are frequent audio visual issues, CPR dummies are not pristine, suction machines are dinosaurs and barely work. Given the throughput of ECP and how much emphasis there is on practical learning it is not surprising that they don’t have the newest and fanciest stuff. Another large downside is that ECP does not arrange for ambulance rides due to student issues in the past and so you will complete EMT certification without having ever stepped into an ambulance. The upside to this is that almost every EMT group has their own indoctrination process to get you familiar with their gear and local protocols. In short, Emergency Care Programs EMT B class is an adult learning program with flare-ups of child tantrums and JV team antics but is a vital step in the process that will teach you something you didn’t know.
Make sure to look into who your instructor is. Instructor was not knowledeable and many failed out of his course due to incompetence as a teacher. Fail just one test by just one point and youre out of the class (69 on test with only 3 classes left of program). To take class again is $700. You do not get a chance to take the state exam, you do not get a percentage of your money back. DO YOUR RESEARCH, AND SHOP OTHER SCHOOLS WHO HAVE A MORE ETHICAL SYSTEM IN PLACE. School is not shy about taking your money and will not respond to any emails.
I am now certified to be an emt and I must say I couldn’t do it with out Karen. She really produced good material and did a great job explaining it. Mo was also another great help, together they both pushed me and gave me that drive to accomplish what I set out to do and I’m truly great full.
I have had the privilege of attending the ECP EMT course in Staten Island in 2014. It took 4-5 months of intense studying and testing to complete the course. The instructor, Louis Cazetta, is a no-nonsense brutally honest veteran in EMS. He guided us through the process of becoming capable EMTs.After getting certified in December I went on and got hired within a month later at a Private EMS Company. For those who think transport work is only non-emergent, boring, or routine, it is far from that. A few times a week I am responding to Code 1 emergencies going lights and sirens to emergency calls from nursing or assisted living facilities ranging from chest pain, seizures, falls, psych, and abusive situations.I have also gotten flagged down on the street for multiple car accidents and have been called upon to do CPR just because we happened to be at the right place at the right time. All in all ECP was where I began my education and has led to towards to a fulfilling career in EMS. I highly recommend ECP to anyone looking to get EMT certified.Adam B, EMT
I had Moshe Hainic as my teacher absolutely the best teacher I’ve ever had will take the time out of day no matter what time of day no matter what hour he will answer any questions he goes above and beyond for every student he has treats you as family will never make you feel stupid for not knowing something I can genuinely say I probably wouldn’t of been able to pass to class without his guidance definitely recommend this school and recommend getting Moshe as your teacher
Ecp really prepared me extremely well to be an emtthe classes were very interactive and the instructors made sure each and every student was well prepared to pass the licencing requirements and to practice as an emti couldnt be happier that i chose ecp as the program to train me to be an emt
At Emergency Care Programs they have the i had the BEST instructor Eli and all the instructors at the practical skills, and the they make sure that if someone needs extra help they provide it, basically they make sure that when you go out from the final class you know everything that you have to know to go into the EMS line of work
I had a horrible experience they kicked me out of the course 3 weeks before Finnish after I paid in full amount and more because I didnt keep a 70 average that no one told me about and I had such a horrible instructor Fred that always yells like and idiot and he sure doesnt like to help his students to understand topics about health care and actually study better I dont recommend this program

2020-01-23I would like to thank everyone at ECP, but especially Karen Fiorello, for a fantastic learning experience! My main instructor Karen made our class feel like family. Karen and our other instructors, Moshe, Lucy, Roo, Matt, and Luke (sorry if Im forgetting anyone!) created a fun and friendly environment. All of our questions were answered and we were given plenty of time to practice. We even had a mock MCI day!! Everyone that made it through till the end of class passed and I hope we will one day work together in the field!

2021-08-13Amazing program. Came here through a tough patch in my life in search for betterment and definitely got what I wanted. HUGE shout out to my instructor Karen. She is a Gem, and you only come across people like her a few times in your lifetime. She literally wants what’s best for her students and she literally sacrifices her own free time to give students everything they need to become great EMTs. She’ll answer your texts as soon as she can and she literally has your back. I had a family emergency during this course and so I had to miss a week unfortunately. Karen organized with the office and contacted me throughout to make sure I was up to part. Upon finishing the course I don’t think I could’ve done it without her. Whatever ECP is paying Karen they better double it. Never seen such a hardworking, and self less person as Karen! I don’t know when she has time for herself because she’s always so busy helping others. She’s a one of one instructor, first-class if you ask me. I’d personally call the office and request for them to give you a class that Karen would be teaching. She will give you the best educational experience. You’ll learn from the best and you’ll be a great EMT through her. Overall good program, but a substantially GREATER program with Karen as your lead instructor.

2020-01-26Amazing learning environment. My instructor was Karen and she is amazing. Her slides have everything you need to know. Moshe is also an incredible person, checks up on you and makes sure you stay on the right track. The rest of the instructors are very helpful when it comes to the practicals. They make sure you have the knowledge and are able to do everything you need to do. I would highly recommend this program when getting your emt license

2018-08-22Highly recommend this school to anyone trying to pursue EMT. My instructor was Karen and she treats you like family and knows her stuff! All instructors (Richy, Annie, Amanda, Shirley, Etc.) are caring, informative, and honestly have love for what they do and they show it in everything they do. They will take time out of their time to make sure you understand everything. I had a great experience & I’m glad to have went there because now I know how to save a life and have met amazing people along the way. We love you Karen! Class #4819

2019-12-01I was recommended by a friend to take my EMT course at ECP and I am glad I did. My experience with Emergency Care Programs was great. My instructor was Karen and she was outstanding. She does everything she can to help all her students and if you do your part you will pass. All the other instructors that help with practicals are very helpful and knowledgeable as well.

2019-11-30I had Karen Fiorello as my lead instructor. She does everything she can to to help all her students. She made sure that everyone in her class completed updated protocol course, which is a must if you want to work in the EMS. She organized MCI training, which is a fun and engaging learning activity. All the other instructors are very helpful as well. I highly recommend this EMT course.

2019-12-25I had Karen as an instructor during my time at Emergency Care Programs. She truly wants each and every student to excel and know their stuff. She incorporates her humor into all of her lectures and while emphasizing the critical things you need to know while you’re out in the field. Aside from lectures, the other instructors that were present had high expertise in the skills aspect of the course. As a students it really helped because they answered every question and often times challenged you to answer it yourself. Overall great experience and met an awesome group of people along the way.

2020-09-24I took the accelerated emt-b class this summer and had the most incredible experience. Karen was my main instructor and a stellar one at that. ECP provides you with great hands on training and Karen provides many useful resources to become the the best EMT possible. She even has her own website with tons of information, videos and other references to use. I 100% recommend this program. It was a great commitment and hard work but by the end of the course I was more confident than ever for the state exam.
