Empire East in other cities:
This place is disgusting...The guys are super unprofessional, this is the third time we are getting food from here that we cannot eat fried pork rice and in the end we are still being charged for it...Manager doesnt speak a word of English when you ask her something all she says is Im sorry my Boss not hereAlso if you are planing to eat here make sure you bring some headphones because staff is RIDICULOUSLY LOUD, DIRTY AND SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL.NOT TO MENTION THAT THEY ARE SUPER EXPENSIVE COMPARE TO OTHER SIMILAR PLACES.
Salmonella poisoning! Ordered house special chow fun for lunch at 12pm. It was pricey! It was so greasy! At 7 pm I had the worst abdominal pains, fever, chills, and body aches. Took two Covid test-negative! Missed days from work, quarantined! It was the food! 4 days later and I still have abdominal pains!
I usually don’t leave negative reviews. The reason I’m giving 1 star review cause I ordered food totaling $112 and told them I have a coupon that I found it on Value pack app they advertise on, the coupon is digital, they said I need a paper copy to print it which does not make sense. The workers were not nice and said I could only take off $5 since its not printed, the coupon was $8. Its is not the money I can’t believe they treat their customer of 14 years like this. Looks like they lost a loyal customer and all the referrals I gave to others.
Had to order through an app named Zuppo to place an online order. When I called about my order being incomplete and incorrect a man named Chow claiming to be owner took over the phone call and became very defensive. He was not accommodating and never made an attempt to fix the problem. He only kept saying he would give me a refund. He also told me numerous times early in the conversation to order my food elsewhere. I am waiting for the driver to come back with the $35.00 in cash he was paid and I will gladly return the entire meal and as promised by Chow who ended with saying “he is telling me ‘to the ground’ not to come in to his store”.I would gladly heretofore take my business elsewhere. This is by far the worst service experience from any restaurant in Staten Island.
Cheap food for cheap prices. The taste is pretty good, and thats coming from a Chinese person. Its clearly not authentic, but if youre looking for typical Chinese-American takeout style food its pretty on-point. The servers keep the place decently clean. I remember during Hurricane Sandy many people came by because their homes didnt have gas, electricity, etc. and they treated everyone kindly, asking if they could help in any way.
Food is ok. Nothing special. I give 2 stars because AGAIN they messsed up my order. Regular rice instead fried one ( second time in a row!? Are You trying to save money or what!? And general chicken instead of sesame one... seriously!? For the price of $34 for 2 dishes not so great ... ppl go to gourmet chef on Richmond Rd 10306 zip! Much better food so cheap ! And in comparison to EE much better customer service
This place is like the fast food joint of Chinese cuisine. The quality of the meals is poor and theyre overpriced. The last time I ate here I ended up getting sick the next day. There are lots of Chinese food restaurants on Staten Island that are much better and less expensive than this one.
I order consistently either from work or home and never had a problem. The food is the best I ever had, especially their Thai food. I order from the Richmond Avenue restaurant and I come all the way from Annadale to pick it up. It is worth the trip and the food is steaming hot always
Very bad customer service. Ordered a combination meal only came with egg roll. I asked for a wonton soup. Was told told too go to.another place. Nasty women..now I will. Theyre overrated and over price. Staten island Chinese food is good everywhere. Guess they dont need the business to tell people to go somewhere else.
I have been eating at Empire East all my life today is the last day I ever order from them, yes inside their restaurant is clean and the service can be nice today I ordered a sesame chicken meal while I was pouring it into my dish there was 2 pieces of long black hair my hair is brown so it could not be mine. I was do disgusted and grossed out I called them up to let them know not that I want any more food from them but that is gross the people who cook the food wear hats, hats are not enough because the side of their hair is still exposed they need NETS this is the last time I eat from their in my life and probably the last time I eat at any Chinese food place on staten island because they were the most cleanest to me not anymore this is a first time thing but I dont care and their the most expensive on the island the most expensive for what so i can have hair in my food no thanks keep your disgusting food
I ordered a bunch of dishes yesterday for a small party at home (large fried rice (2), large low mein (2), mei fun, papaya salad and scallion pancake). The damage came out to be about $73. When I asked for an extra dressing, the first lady was about to give it to me, however a second older lady spoke in Mandarin told her I should get charged $.50 cent. I wasnt a happy camper since they had already made a killing profit on me already but I decided to pay. What made me so fumed and disgusted was when they taxed me on the $.50 cent. I asked do they know how to run a business? Another skinny older lady replied this is the boss instruction.I ask you boss, please train your staff to treat your customer with politeness. For the amount of my order, was it necessary to charge me the extra $.55 cents for the salad dressing? I understand you are running a business, but is this a business model you think will make you more money in the long term? You will lose my future business for sure and I will spread my wings to inform my family, friends and the people in my community that you should change your business model to treat your customers with more respect. Like another reviewer said, there are a bunch of other good Chinese restaurants in SI. For one, the lady boss at China Buffet is very friendly and she knows how to run her business. The food there in my opinion is overall better and the staff there are very friendly. This will make a good dinning experience every time.
Just ordered food from here tonight and my son had a few pieces of the chicken and a little after he ate it he’s been running to the bathroom a few times. The rice has no taste and hardly any meat on the ribs. Will not be ordering from here again. The vegetable fried rice from Master Wok in the food court at the mall is 100x better!
For a small order of broccoli and one large pork lo mein the total cane out to $22. Usually a broccoli is suppose to come with white rice and they gave us white rice that literally the right amount for a puppy. Very overrated and overpriced. Plus, the broccoli had goo in it.
Im reading the bad reviews. Im surprised. This place is wonderful, the food is awesome. But the bad reviews about the behavior of certain staff sounds believable. It is common behavior among the Asian restaurants that Ive been 2 throughout the years n in other boroughs 2. Very disturbing, in fact. I just dont go back. Here r some of my experiences, none of them happened at Empire East. Enjoy: Theres a baby roach in my glass of ice. I discreetly hand the glass back 2 the lady, pointing 2 the frozen roach. She scoops out the roach with her finger n wipes the inside of the glass where the roach was n gives me the glass of ice back. Or the little boy licking all the salt shakers at the customer tables while Mama is cooking n Im waiting 4 my order. Or another customer begging 4 2 xtra pks of sweet n sour sauce n not getting it. Or the waiter that insisted that I pay 4 my meal in advance when the lady at the nxt table could not find her wallet after she ate most of her food n got thrown out like a sack of feces. I could go on. What I learned from all this is that anything is possible in these wonderful restaurants but if it happens 2 me once, it wont happen twice. So, Empire East, bware. Because the last time I was there u let a bag lady sleep at one of your tables. She was snoring on ur table, her 3 or 4 huge dirty bags were on ur table n the surrounding benches. N another lady was selling bootleg CDs. I xspect this at the train station, not in ur restaurant. Ive had it in the back of my mind 2 check 4 sleeping bag ladies n annoying people selling things from old dirty bags b4 ordering from u again. I love u but its gonna be So long, baby.
Overpriced and customer service unacceptable. The drop coupons in mail box as well they posted them online. Upon arrival to pick up order they would not accept anything from my phone ,stating PAPER COUPONS ONLY .On my question why do you post them online SHE JUST TURNED AROUND LIKE IM NOT THERE TALKING TO HER.Rude and disrespectful. Stay away from this place.
This place is so dirty the owners and the management of the place are nasty very disrespectful to theres workers at the cashier theyll drop food sneezes around the food would drop a piece of chicken and was still cooked and served to customers the meat doesnt even taste right you wont know if your eating chicken or rat or cat who knows I advise people do not eat from Chinese restaurants.
I’m appalled at the way I was spoken to today by the staff taking phone orders so I’m saying goodbye to this place after so many years doing professional as well as personal orders with them. They really need to train their staff to learn how to speak professionally and respectfully and value their customers. There is plenty of competition out there.

2022-03-31Awful customer service. I called because I was unable to check out on the website with the promo code they offer and they said it was expired. Ummm it’s on the website how can it be expired. They did nothing to help when the right thing to do would be to honor the coupon. Take your Buisness elsewhere to people who actually appreciate it!

2022-06-21I been ordering from this place for many years with no issues (over ten Yrs) My last two times I ordered sesame chicken the chicken was horrible! Honestly didn’t even taste like chicken. Chicken was dry rubbery and grainy truly disgusting. I gave them another chance and same issue therefore my review and they lost me as a customer. Two times is unacceptable IMHO…

2019-06-23One of the few Chinese food places I really like. The place is clean, comfortable, good food, decent prices, and friendly service. I tend to get their noodle soup and the portions are big. The decor is interesting cause it feels more like something you would see in a club but it’s nice.

2019-06-07They maybe the best Chinese food on the island. Its a little pricey but youre getting TOP quality. The other day I tried the salad and I was amazed. The produce was fresh and the shrimps were delicious and cooked perfectly. The dressing they out in the salad was fresh and you can tell was home made. They have a wide variety of Asian cuisines and I have enjoyed them all.

2021-08-25The food here is absolutely delicious!!! Pricey, but worth it- you get what you pay for. I had been ordering from another restaurant for 25+ years, new owners = too many changes, add a new chef and it’s a recipe for disaster! Thank goodness for Empire East! They take custom requests on your food order, the staff has been friendly, the food is always super hot & fresh, & most importantly- inside is EXTREMELY clean!!!!! Highly recommend!
