Amazing service! The staff are incredibly welcoming and patient with all clientele. I enjoyed speaking to everyone as they were very professional and addressed all my concerns.They are some of the hardest working people I’ve met and it’s clear that they genuinely care about their clients and the service they provide.
Examiner was nice and professional, but the front desk was a joke. Have three people just sitting there talking about their personal lives all while you already have everything picked out and just waiting to leave. Eventually when they’re finished talking then they help people that were there after you. Missing work for this.
Id give the a zero if possible. The doctor is awful doesnt give you time to respond. He then writes the wrong prescription so after a 2 week wait you get to wait another 2 weeks. And then when they come back the second time the lab does the wrong prescription again so you get another 2 week wait. Dont go to this business go anywhere but there.
The associate who waited on me was friendly and personable. The logistics of the office were terrible, however. I am confined to a wheelchair and this office is in no way handicapped accessible. From the main entrance which does not have an automatic opener to the second entry door which forces the user to make an immediate left turn and again doesnt have an automatic opener, I was lucky to get inside with the other foot traffic trying to either enter or exit. I think Ill be looking for a new Eyecare provider when my next appointment comes due.
I will not buy from this store ever again. I have been a customer here with my family.. My family bought 4 pairs of glasses resulting in 3 separate trips to this facility this time around. I have not been mistreated anywhere else ever as badly as this, everytime I bring my family here the service is hostile and rude. The prior visits resulted in ugly stares, verbal acoustic attitudes, and even the staff walking off the floor leaving other customers to wait until their return. Manors in customer service matter, violation of rights and hippa by the staff is appalling. The only saving grace at all in all this debacle was the male optician helped straighten out the mess the staff tried to stick me with things I didnt order and some were left off that we did order.
I have been a customer of this place for years. I have never seen a so unorganized and rough. The staff was dressed very casual and unprofessional. They were rude and didn’t seem to care. My 2 appointments were cancelled and they did not call us. We showed up and one of their doctors had called in sick. Which is not the issue. We understand of course. But, I’m hey dropped the ball on us. I took off work to make this appointment for me and my daughter. After I made my displeasure known, they were able to fit my daughter right in, but my new appointment is two weeks away. The only thing that saved this appointment was the eye doctor. She even offered to ge me after her appointments. She cares. We like her always have had great experiences with her. It’s the crew out front that needs a improvement.
Paid over 600$ with insurance for a cheap pair of glasses and one box of contacts. The doctor acted as if I was a real inconvenience for having an appointment & requesting contacts alot of huffing about checking my eyes. Real rude and unorganized there scheduled an appointment for my husband but just didnt show up didnt feel they even deserved a cancelation call. Would definitely recommend ANYWHERE but here
Doctor was horrible, I felt more of a number than a patient. She was in such a rush I couldn’t even answer her questions or ask her anything. I just felt like I was bothering the doctor for even getting an exam. Did not even get glasses today. I asked for a print out of my prescription and said I will be getting glasses somewhere else.
Every year I come back to NY and get my eyes checked and my prescription renewed. I have always been throughly impressed with the speed of getting me in and out. Not to mention there awesome employees, very friendly, always nice people to spark up a conversation with and advice on new glasses. Scott and Charles are wonderful people. Highly recommended.
Ive experienced multiple problems with this provider. The doctor tried to get me into a pair of bifocals (when I only need something slightly stronger than reading glasses). Over my objection, she ordered them anyway, so when I went for the fitting, they were way too strong for me. During the fitting, the salesperson was rude when I explained the glasses werent right for me. Well, those are what the ophthalmologist ordered. After a lot of back and forth, I finally got the glasses I needed, 3 weeks later. Fast forward to today, and my dog chewed my glasses up, so I call them to get a copy of my prescription. I just need to run to a Wegmans type place and grab a pair to get me through today. They refused to tell me my prescription, citing HIPAA laws (which they are misinterpreting). This could have all been avoided if they had provided me with a copy of my prescription when I got my original pair of glasses, as they are required by law to do (but didnt). Guess I have to spend extra money to find a new provider, just to get a pair that is a little stronger than a $10 pair of readers. Unbelievable.
My experience with Visionworks actually happened back in March but as time goes on, Im more frustrated with the product I received. My husband and I both got glasses back in March. We did a BOGO deal. He got a pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses. The sunglasses had to be ordered in (no big deal), however after getting them home, he realized that the lenses dont fit properly into the frame. When he went back to ask if they could fix it, he was told thats how they are supposed to look Yes..theres supposed to be a gap between the frame and lens, of course. When he was fitted with his glasses, the girl was more preoccupied with talking to the other girls works and handed them to him. He tried them on and said they were a little too big, she bent the sides to fit and he commented that the side were a little too long (they seriously reached almost to his neck) She stared and him and offered no resolution. When he addressed the issue with the sunglasses a gentlemen working told him that he should have came back and they could have fixed it...WHY DIDNT SHE TELL US THE DAY WE GOT THEM!? We paid extra for the package that helps reduces scratches on our lenses...what a joke. My lenses are scratched and I have to wait until after the first of the year to purchase new ones. We will not be returning next year and I would recommend that nobody go here. They are absolute garbage.
Wish I didnt even have to give them one star,but wont let you post a comment/review until you do! Had appointments scheduled at 1 and 1:15; half an hour later they took me back to do the pre-exam,then told me to go out front and wait some more.The staff was chatting about customers,being rude and whispering and rolling their eyes about one lady in particular. When I was finally called back to have the eye exam,the room reeked of garlic! The Doctors English was very poor and her hands and breath were so strong with the smell of garlic I was nauseated! When I went to order my glasses,no one assisted me;I have a very petite face and need a small frame,I wanted red frames,they had 1 pair of petite red frames,according to their website,but those frames were no where to be seen in the store! I picked out a medium size frame,in red. The man assigned to me to do my fitting was such a salesman! He never asked if I wanted the anti-glare coating,the tinted lenses or anything,just added them to the price and then saidOh you had them on your last pair,so assumed you wanted them again and Ive already put everything in the computer.Because we have Davis Vision insurance through Corning,Inc. we are not eligible for the BOGO and if you select a pair over the $129 the insurance will pay for frames,you have to pay the entire amount out of pocket! Not just the difference! They are scam artists! Have it made as they are part of Davis Vision and so many businesses in the area have that insurance and you must go to their provider! Husbands glasses were ready within 4 days,been 10 for me,which they guarantee theyll have your glasses done by then and Ive yet to hear from them. DO NOT get the anti-glare/scratch resistant coating as they actually scratch more!! Pair from 2 years ago just fell apart right off my face,they said they were only guaranteed for 1 year from purchase so had to pay $75 for another pair of that same frame to get me through until our appointment in the new year.Am not impressed!! No one bothered to call and let me know my glasses were finished/ready,i had to call on the 10th day and ask about them. When the response was Yes,theyre ready for pickup,I repliedit was nice that someone could call and let me know they were done! When were they ready? The reply was Last evening they were finished. To which I repliedReally? And yet no one bothered to call and let me know!! UNBELIEVABLE!! And then the owner likes my review and says Thanks for the review! Are you kidding me?? It certainly wasnt a good review! No Im sorry,what can we do to make things better? Not aSend me your information and will look in to it,NOTHING!! Just goes to show how much your business doesnt mean to them! SMH!!
I just called, the woman who answered was rude. laughed at me when I asked her a question. when I told her thank you she said bye. Acted like me asking for her prescription was a chore. maybe if you dont like your job I suggest finding a new one. I work customer service and if I treated anyone like that I would have been fired a LONG time ago.
Wait was long when I went in for my appointment, and people at the front beak are rude, they would finish their non work related conversation Frist before asking how may help you? Then when calling for my lens stayed on hold for 10min, probably would have been long if I didnt hang up. The only positive is the doctor was very nice and glasses pick up is within a week.
Really bad experience one of theyre Employees Erin S. Tells my 5 Year old son Be quite, stop talking grown ups are talking, Im NOT afraid to slap someones kid in the face, Yea Im mean and Refused to give her last name. I ask one of her colleagues for the manager and she stated shell be in tomorrow. The audacity of people ! Never in your life talk to someones child as if Your the one to discipline them. My son is very respectful. How disgusting can you be to threaten a 5 year old?
I have done business with these people for years but no longer recommend them for even a dead snake. The doctors do not speak very good English and are always in a hurry. I ended up with glasses that were not my prescription strength and they conveniently said they couldnt help me because my insurance wouldnt pay and now I have glasses that are of no use to me. Better Business Bureau may need to be contacted by all of us who are getting scammed by these so called experts!
The Visionworks in Big Flats is the least helpful company I have ever come across. The staff is unwilling to give information despite the fact that the (very helpful and cordial) Corning Visionworks staff willingly gives and assists you with the same information that you ask for. Talking to anyone that works there is like talking to a wall. Don’t expect to get anything productive done unless you’re willing and able to dedicate half your day driving to their physical location for any information that you ultimately paid them for to have in the first place. This place stinks.
Doctor was nasty to my special needs son because didnt know what blood pressure meds he was taking at 19 years old. I had explained he was special needs prior to and filled out paper work with the list of his meds. He wanted to go back by himself ( this was the 1st time he felt comfortable to go back alone) and now because of this doctor he said he is frightened and afraid of repeat performances. 3 months ago when I was there she got upset about me not being able to tell which is better 1 or 2 3 or 4
Avoid. My husband just got back from the doctors and has pink eye. I stopped going here about a year ago because the staff answering the phones and at the front were extremely rude. I am pretty sure they are way overworked and understaffed, but does not justify being rude and unprofessional towards customers.
I am less than impressed with this visit. The wait time was long, even for a walk in. The selection of glasses was not suited for young people who would like current trends. They offer great deals, but you have to have the customer service and the selection to back it up.
Order contacts thru here and glasses, I said out of pocket $300 and I quite sure they pulled more than that in from my insurance company. They refuse to give me my contacts that I ordered because I have to set an appointment to pick them up. I have worn contacts for nearly 30 years. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Wish i could give less than one star. The Doctor that was supposed to do the eye exam had the personality of a cactus. when she asked what i was there for, I responded a multi focal contact exam to which she rolled her eyes and snickered. I asked what was that look for? to which she responded at your age? and you never have contacts before? She then said it doesnt matter what you do you always will have glasses At that point i decided to leave before she went through an exam that would do me no good according to her. Do yourself a favor and find someone that wants to listen to your needs and not act like they are the God of the medical world.
This place is a joke. EVERY person I spoke with was extremely rude. They say oh company policy is this, but they dont tell you until its too late. They just want more and more money and do not care about their customers. I have never had more problems with a place in my life. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE.
Purchased three, yes three, pairs of glasses with lenses and in less than one week a new buy one get one free promotion started. THEY REFUSE TO LET ME GET THE BENEFIT OF THE NEW PROMOTION!! This sucks as all other retailers will give you the better price.STAY AWAY!! Go some place where they want to keep your business. This rip off joint is not it! I’ve been coming here for more than ten years but not. Any. More.
I am literally sitting here in the store and an employee is being rub and yelling through the store. Everyone is disorganized and a select few employees are friendly. I work customer service If i acted this way i would have been fired on the spot. They are in need of new management

2022-07-31They scheduled me very late in the afternoon and I mentioned I dont want to feel rushed after the exam when choosing the frames and was assured I wouldnt be, but thats exactly what happened. Fast forward to less than a couple years and the photo will show that the lamination process used was making the lens brittle (around the left lens and the right lens is starting to cover the entire lens). This is not from everyday use. They were replaced at no charge.

2022-04-18Staff was very accommodating to every customer while I was there this morning. They all went out of their way to assist me with getting my eyes examined. While I waited, I observed several customers being help with frame selection, a broken pair of frames that werent repairable but the manager did a temporary fix until the guy could bring his wife in for new glasses, an elderly lady in a wheelchair with her family in for an exam and glasses, all while answering the phone which rang quite often. If they were stressed by being down a staff member for the day, they didnt show it. It was a pleasant experience getting my eyes examined and getting new glasses. I will be going back and will recommend this location to anyone I know thinking about getting new glasses or needing an exam.

2022-03-19Stopped in to the Big Flats Visionworks today . I had been having a problem with nose pads. The lady said she could help me. She took my glasses and put some new nose pads on them. They also explained all about contacts for people with astigmatism. I talked with all the ladies there and they were very friendly and helpful. Know where Im getting my next glasses or maybe contacts if I get up some courage 😆. Great experience!!!!!

2022-08-04I was a happy customer of this store for 25 years until my recent recent eye exam for new glasses. I was examined by an online doctor. When I got my new glasses, I could feel that the prescription was not quite right. I made a second visit with the online doctor, she refused to check my eyes again but insisted that her prescription was right. I dont know what has been changed in the store, but the service was so bad and rude. I think they lost me as a customer.

2022-03-26Went for an eye exam for glasses and contacts. I was given a couple different options for my contacts because I have a slight astigmatism, was able to try both torreck and regular contacts before they completed my form to make sure I was happy with how they felt. The girls were very helpful in selecting my glasses as well. I usually hate picking glasses because I can’t tell if they look good or if I will like them long term. I was able to get a pair I actually love and was give. A discount coupon as well! Would definitely Recommend the Elmira office!

2022-03-22I had an amazing time and yes I never thought I would say that about an eye exam. They were extreamly helpful, funny, and understanding. Answered any question and made sure I understood what was happening. Trust me when I say if you need glasses there selection is second to none.

Your choice of eyewear can completely change your look and give a hint to your personality. If youre like me, you take into consideration your ever evolving appearance and tastes/styles. You like to take your time trying on and selecting options. Being able to do so in a calm and peaceful environment? Bonus!My son and I visited earlier this evening for our yearly exams/new eyewear visit. There were roughly 6-8 customers and ample staff. We were greeted immediately, checked in promptly, and were encouraged to sit or browse. We appreciated being able to take our time helping one another pick our frames in an un-rushed fashion. The staff were readily available to assist us but didnt hover. Love that!The eye exams were very thorough. My concerns were addressed and I felt valued and respected by my health care provider.We were the last appointments for the day and by the time we got done most of the staff were gone. The two amazingly cheerful and vibrant young ladies remaining, and the pleasant gentleman who completed our checkout were SO helpful with my last minute requests for their opinions! Even though the store had now been closed, and Im sure they must have been eager to clock out, I never once got that impression. They not only gave their opinions, but leap up and went to get a few other pairs to try without my prompting! They were kind and lovely and a pleasure to chat with! I wish that I had thought to make note of their names (you guys rock!!) but really, ALL of the staff were just as warm and inviting.If you are looking for a similar experience to choose your next look, this is the place!

2022-03-27I’ve been a costumer at visionworks for four years and I have always been completely satisfied with their employees and the Optometrist. My glasses have always help up well and if I’ve ever had a problem, they will fix it quickly. I recently went in for an adjustment, Trisha fixed my glasses for me, she was very kind and friendly. I will always tell my friends and family to go to visionworks.

2022-07-21Terrible customer service @ the horseheads ny store! Too many personal conversations going on still waiting to get my glasses going on a month. Im sure the front desk clerk is mad because I mentioned lack of service. When I called 2 wks ago to check on my glasses the same girl said they arent in yet but you can bet when we get them well call you. very sarcastically still no glasses.the lack of coconversations going on
