Enchantments in other cities:
Fantastic supply and variety of high quality products, the woman who checked us out was very friendly and helpful. 3 stars because the prices are kind of insane. Basically, its cheaper for me to buy on etsy with 2 day shipping, which is kind of wild. Also, those other reviews are correct, this one girl was incredibly abrasive and rude without being prompted or approached at all. Kind of a bummer since this is the only shop around here with this supply.
I do love to support botanicas and other occult shops. But sometimes going in to this place I do find lack of help or respect. They seem to always judge as if they think you know nothing about the craft or what items to get and how to use them. Sometimes I go in and right out because it’s uncomfortable. And for some reason I’ve been showing up then they post online no in store shopping i completely understand due to Covid but it can be somewhat frustrating. This is probably why I stopped supporting the occult shops in the city and Brooklyn and only go to botanicas now that don’t judge you and let you take you time…
Heard great things about this place and traveled to the city with high expectations and even made a journey out of my way to get here. First impression is that the store is beautiful and unique. The smell is inviting and the cats are a wonderful addition. I had heard wonderful things about the custom candles and got one for myself. This experience was rather awkward for me because I felt slightly judged. I got the vibe from the staff that I was being mocked slightly as if I had no place there. Another thing that caused discomfort was the staff ever so rudely shouting that no photos are to be taken, just because a woman had her phone out. Most places have the courtesy to kindly ask you to not take photos even though signs are posted. If you want business, dont make your customers uncomfortable. Last but not least, the woman behind the counter wearing glasses is quite an experience in itself. Very unpleasant to say the least. All in all I am pleased with my purchases from this establishment and would recommend a visit to others. (With warning to not attempt to have conversations with staff or try and be friendly)
I love this shop! I resignated with this shop. Before coming to the shop, I visited another shop which I didnt resignate with and I know that because my 3rd eye was hurting and the pain cleared shortly after leaving that shop. Im truly glad I found a shop for me. I highly recommend a visit. Great energy and variety. They were cautious with Civic safety, kind and also answered any questions I had.
The cats are beautiful. The products are great! The store is quaint and lovely. With the exception of one girl with tattoos and short hair, the staff was rude and had a very negative energy. I also put their trust in asking about a cat candle for my sick cat to heal. They didnt care. My cat passed away, sadly.
Amazing custom candles! Faith was incredibly helpful!Their website is a bit outdated but it works. You can order online and pickup your order in-store. They are actually following COVID-19 precautions which is highly appreciated. Check their instagram for store hours.
Great store! They have two cats, one was snoozing in a basket on the counter so I let it sleep, and the other came to see me for pets and was the sweetest kitty! Besides the adorable cats, this shop has a great collection of books and candles and tarot cards. Definitely recommend!
Staff was rude and had a very negative energy. The place is a joke also over priced -everybody is a witch this days. if you’re In need of magical spells and root work go to a botánica the real deal or get a $1 candle some carving tools, some sigils a little glitter and you saved yourself $40
I love this place! They have tons of stuff that you can’t really find in the city, and they know a lot about it. They know everything to help you find what you need. I typically go to a botanica in the Bronx, but they were closed on the weekend so I went here and I was very happy. I tried two other stores in the area first and they didn’t even know what oils were, so I was losing hope of finding what I needed. But when I went here I got everything in one place!I this is the third time I’m rewriting my review because I made a mistake before about being overcharged. I thought I was overcharged and the owner was so kind and sweet to offer to help me resolve the issue. The selection of oils and herbs here is great, and it’s a nice atmosphere. The workers know their stuff and are happy to help. I’ll definitely be returning here to buy my stuff next time!
They have interesting items, but nothing out of this word (and they’re overpriced). I can’t speak for all of the staff, but the girl with the right side of her hair shaven was very rude to us. My friend asked a question and got attitude back. She told us to hurry up and get out because we had been in there too long when it had only been 15 minutes. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere for your witchy needs !!
This little store packs lots of items! The staff this day had an eclectic vibe, the cats were delightful!! They were interested in the customers needs and requests. They suggested things that might be of interest, yet I didnt feel that they were trying to sell me anything I wasnt interested in. Id visit this store every month if I lived in NYC.
Nice place! Lots of tarot cards, supplies, candles, books. Cozy small shop with a thick smell of incense. A bit too overpriced. :( Thats the only complaint. I wish it was less overpriced. I wanted to buy a pendulum and theyre all so expensive! I eventually came home with four candles. I hope they expand their candle selection. I like the woman figure one. Most of the designs there arent my favorite. There is no bathroom. The area near it is nice- theres a cafe called Mudspot thats really good and boutiques and shops here and there. Come here if youre interested!!! Dont go if you are allergic to cats - there are three.
Fun and unique shop! I was a bit intimidated since all the other visitors to the shop seemed to know what they wanted or what they were talking about. I just stopped by out of curiosity since I heard about their awesome custom made candles!I ended up ordering a candle online for fun. It was neat to see all the sketches and added glitter to the candle, making it a magical thing to look at and burn.Hope to visit in person again one day, and fingers crossed Ill get to meet the shop cat.
I adore the items and tools they carry, and I can tell that they care a great deal about the things they sell. I also love any store with a shop cat. However, Ive been in the store several times and havent felt welcome in any of the time Ive spent there. The feeling is one of being judged, and condescending interactions with staff has only reinforced the air of not being truly welcome in their space. I prefer shops and spaces that foster a sense of community, not one of exclusivity.
So for me most of my experiences have been positive. I can see how people have had bad experiences there I actually felt that way when I first went and met the owner. I chalked it up to her having a bad day because other times I went she was informative and slightly nice . Other female staff is cheerful and nice . I’ve bought a few things from them over the years . I do enjoy going there and received good advice over the years. It maybe worth feeling out which of the staff you connect with try to connect with two of them so that if one is out you can go to the other . I personally connect with Carmen. She’s very helpful and knowledgeable . Just because a person is in front of you doesn’t mean that’s the person you need to deal with there is usually 3-5 people in the shop, so if the person in front of you is not on your wavelength then politely ask to speak to someone else . 🧙♀️🧙♂️
Amazing atmosphere with wide selection of items. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. This is not the type of store where youd expect employees to be extremely interactive, as most of us customers are kinda in our own world and feeling the vibe. This is also a very popular yet intimate sized store so the employees are very busy but are willing to answer any questions you may have. Ill definitely be returning.
This is an amazing place with caring and knowledgeable staff. The selection is the best Ive seen and the custom carving of candles is better than I expected. The energy in the store is intense, but after you let yourself experience it you realize that it is positive and grounding. Thank you all again. Blessed be.
I was recently brought to this shop about 2 weeks ago by a friend and I absolutely loved it. I am just now beginning a new chapter that this shop was and is appropriate for and my knowledge is still quite limited, but this shop was inviting and warm and that includes the staff. They were open and answered my many questions with smiles and genuine advice. The only negative aspect of the shop was the man standing outside insisting(closer to yelling) I needed to repent. Id also like to point out that the staff still apologized for him despite he being the only mean person around and having no responsibility for him.I will absolutely be visiting again😄
Took my sister here because she was curious and also wanted to buy burning sage. She loved it. The staff are really kind, shed gotten a new piercing that day, was complaining of it; woman at the counter quickly offered her a tissue and some antiseptic. When I was looking for an item they didnt sell they quickly recommended another shop right up the block.
Went into this store a couple of times and haven’t really had any problems except for today. Staff were rude and unwelcoming. I also bought a statue of Artemis for $97.00 just to open it and see it was broken, and also to find out that it was $46.00 online. The items are overpriced and the Workers definitely make you feel unwelcome, wouldn’t go back unless I absolutely needed something 😓
I LOVE THIS STORE, however! The customer service is rarely good, ‘‘tis why I give this store a 4 out of 5 stars. BUT! if you are looking for pure herbs, oils, candles, books ext. this is where you need to go, if you can get past the rude staff then you will really enjoy this place! Good luck 🍀
Pros:Lovely quaint store, love the wide range of herbs and oils, books for beginners to experienced, statues and the custom candles are beautiful.Cons: The staff will turn you off from coming back to spend your money, and they dont really care either if you feel that way.Would like to shop here again, but staff and customer service are horrible.P.S. I did find Lady Rheas shop shes amazing.
Giving two stars although the place is great.. the cashier, long braided her, piecing girl made me feel awful, all I did was asking her opinion about some smells and a book. So rude. I think many reviews complain about that because people go there vulnerable looking for a help and improvement.. she put me down in my vulnerability, all day I was feeling it.. however;I got amazing things... the blonde girl was really helpful with my selections. Thank you!!
I loved my experience there. I went for one thing and left with a ton of stuff. The guy cashier gave me something called Van Van...it gives the sweetest lovliest energy when burning. I had an energy candle made...picked some sigil pendants...and a couple of books. The staff was pro and knowledgeable. The cats were adorable for rubs.
The products themselves are sound. When I first moved to New York this was the first shop I tried and Its really well stocked with everything I need. But sadly, I have to agree with a lot of the other comments-the staff is absolutely horrible. The witch with the blue hair (I forgot her name unfortunately) is the only exception- she was amazing. She was really patient and helped me find everything I needed. But every other trip has been a disaster. I actually got told by one of the staff that I probably couldnt handle that tarot deck. It wasnt for beginners. (This was in response to a question I had asked about the ARTWORK. I have reading cards for a decade.)They are incredibly condescending and arrogant.Products are worth it-but ignore the staff completely if you dont want your day ruined.
This has long been the place to go for all your occult needs in NYC. Huge selection of herbs and roots, hand-made oils, incense, and candles. Nice, if small, selection of ritual tools and occult jewelry, and some books on witchcraft as well. Staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The place has good vibes and I enjoy going there even if its just to visit the cats. You can also order most of their items through their website, which I have done and found the service more than satisfactory. But I highly recommend paying them a visit if youre in the area, especially if you need advice or spiritual assistance with a specific problem.
You can see from the reviews that this place isnt for everyone. The staff can be a little rough around the edges but theyre all solid and know what theyre doing. I had an issue with an online order for a custom candle that was to be picked up in store but there was some confusion and miscommunication and long story short the order wasnt processed. Their website can use a bit of work to make things more clear. However, Carmen explained what went wrong. I was a little pissed at first, but she turned that right around. She apologized and immediately grabbed the candle and started customizing it while ringing up other customers at the same time all while keeping a positive demeanor. She then dressed the candle and explained the process to me as she was doing it. It took about a half hour (which is the normal amount of time) to finish the candle and I walked out a happy customer as I always do. Carmen, if you see this, thanks for being accommodating and ensuring that I got everything I needed. Youre absolutely stellar.
I had a horrible experience with this store. On Cyber Monday, I called the store to ask a question about a product and was given a very rude response. They did not have time to explain the item. I finally just decided to take a chance and buy the item online. When I had not received the item by December 16th, I emailed to ask for an update. I was told that they had received hundred of orders and that they were expecting a 3-4 week turn around time. When I explained that we were approaching week four and that I was concerned about getting the item on time. All I got were short answers with no specifics of when I might get it or alternatives other than cancelling the order. So, after 6 emails with little to no response, I called. The man I spoke with was being fed answers by someone else whom I asked to talk with and they told me no. All the person said was that this is the way it is and that I could not change the shipping address and I could not upgrade my order to overnight shipping and if I wanted to cancel that was my option. I said I did not want to do that. After hanging up with the very rude man, I went back to the website where it said Priority shipping is available upon request. So, I sent an email requesting for priority shipping. 5 minutes later I received an email saying my order has been cancelled. I then called the store back saying I did not want it cancelled and they said that was too bad. There was nothing they could do and that it was their prerogative to cancel the order and if I wanted to replace the order it would be another 4 weeks to fill it. When I said I was going to make a complaint, she said fine and hung up on me. I will never do business with this shop again. They are not customer friendly at all. Once they knew they were running behind the right thing would have been to notify everyone who placed an order, apologize for the delay an give them options well enough in advance of Christmas for them to consider getting another gift.
I was really excited to visit this shop, while in the city. This shop carries nearly everything I would need for my practices, even though it’s quite small (it’s in NYC, so....) I would have to agree with some other reviews, that I did experience a rude employee. It didn’t bother me personally, but I could see how it would bother others. I will be ordering from this store, when I am unable to visit for a while. It’s great!
One stop shop for witchy folk! Anything you could possibly want for all your spell-casting needs: oils, herbs, incense, candles, books, tarot cards and more! The staff will happily answer any questions that you have. A great place for newbie baby witches and seasoned sorcerers alike!
The video made the place look better than it was. The place is over crowded, they keep all their inventory in the store instead of a stock room which makes it hard to navigate throughout. One staff member was particularly rude, always asking us to get out of the way more or less when youre trying to look at things. I went there for a candle, my friend was going to get one too, but canceled her purchase as a result of the staff.
Not great. Selection was okay, overpriced but okay. Books were great and had some Samhain incense. That said, the employees were rude and uncomfortable. I did not appreciate being interrupted mid-sentence, degraded, and referred to as “sweetheart.” It’s just as creepy coming from a woman, I promise.
Over the years, I have heard bad things about this store, which I think is the only remaining Witchy/Occult store in Manhattan, NYC. However, every single time I have gone to this store, I receive very good, if not excellent customer service, AND I find what I need when I need it. That means a lot to me. And that is why I AM more than happy to spend money at Enchantments.
Attention! Care!Place of crooks! Thieves!I was tricked: on 01/29/2020 my daughter and I bought a book that cost $17 and this shop charged $17 and another $117 that I didnt spend. When I saw the charge on my credit card bill, I went back to the store. The owner said she wouldnt give me the money back because I couldnt prove i didnt buy it. I was robbed of $117, I reported to NYPD and the bank. Im waiting for action.
I know alot people have different views about the place but I feel like the place is really chill I will say it crowded but that only means that the stuff have is good right? I went with my bestfriend and she likes it there if your allergic to cats then I suggest to not come since they do have cats but the product they sell are really nice and the staff seem nice in MY opinion and the staff member with the curly fro is super nice I would most definitely come back and bring my friends too
I have heard nothing but great things about this store over the years and was beyond excited to finally pay a visit. Unfortunately though, I was extremely let down. The second my friend and I step foot into the store none of the workers even cared to say hello, welcome, or look at us. Being genuinely interested with the intent of buying products, coming with many questions, I couldnt even ask them because they would not even care to acknowledge that we existed. In the very short periods that they did, they gave us condescending and extremely judgmental looks. I felt unwelcome, unvalued as a customer, and extremely uncomfortable. I dont wish to give a business money when they cant even respect their customers. I walked out feeling extremely disappointed and hurt. Its such a shame to have employees ruin the reputation of a business like that.
Was very excited to visit this store after the reviews and articles that I’ve read about it. Went in today and nobody greeted us at all or acknowledged that we were there. The friendliness factor is certainly missing. We moved on, their selection was pretty extensive however.
Smaller shop than I thought it would be with a variety of items. If you are looking for something specific I would say call before you go to make sure they carry it in the store. Has A LOT of herbs, candles and incense, books and cards. Very little in crystals. Overall a cute little shop!
Enchantments was such a treat in the village. This cute metaphysical shop is known for their custom candles specifically carved for your intention. First, they carve the spell into the candle, cover with oils, and then use glitter to finish it! When you check out, there are two black cats sleeping nearby if you didn’t feel witchy enough already. They have a book of intentions you can choose from for your custom carved candle. From work, to prosperity, to love, they can make a candle for you. No photos allowed inside the store though! I wish I was able to take photos of some pretty cool things I saw, but wanted to respect the owner’s wishes. You just have to check it out for yourself!
Must go to place for anyone curious, serious or in between about new age, wiccan and or pagan. Staff was super helpful and a very nice selection of books, statues, candles, tarot cards, herbs and accessories. The energy was great and the two cats were very friendly. Will be going back soon.
This place is great! I been here a few times, I do not know anyone in or from this place, and I do not associate with anyone who works here or buys from here, but I will recommend this place to everyone..The staff is very helpful and cool to be around their all very positive their energy is great..The amount of products and supplies this place has is great, the candles are hand made I have seen that personally, they have oils and herbs of all kinds.. just ask and they will give everything you need. Go in check it out or you can ask one of the staff to speak to a Witch who can advise you on what you needIt is The realest place in the city in my opinion.. I knew it when I first walked in this place, being able to tell who was a Pagen a Wiccan and a Witch is the greatest thing about being a WizardThank you to the Witch or Witches who ownthis placeNOTE: Please always remember Magic is fun and can be exciting Witchcraft is fun and can be exciting, but always be careful never try to hurt anyone when you do anything! If you are not sure ask a Witch, Pagen, or Wiccan for advise.. You can ask a Wizard if you know one personally..Have a Magical WeekPeter VarioThe Wizard!
Ive been there maybe 8 times and i almost always get a weird vibe from a lot of the staff there. theyre stand off-ish and a little rude and uncomfortable. a lot of their items, like candles, incense, florida water, cascarilla, horseshoes, etc you could get for much cheaper at a botanica.on the bright side, they have a pretty good selection of tarot cards, herbs and a good assortment of popular and recently published books. they also have some convenient spell kits with oils. worth a visit if youre in the area but they can definitely work on making their customers feel more welcome.
I have no input on the store, but I would not order on line again. There was evidently something that went wrong during the ordering process. I selected shipping but was apparently not billed for shipping. I was told that I had selected pick up from store. This store certainly does not believe in the philosophy that the customer is always right They made no effort to work through the issue or ask if I was willing to pay the shipping. After the third email insisting that my invoice did not include shipping charges, my order was cancelled. So much for customer serviceI wish I had read through more of the reviews before I placed my order! Live an learn!
I’m new to learning and everyone was amazingly helpful and insightful. They were busy but always stopped and took time to listen and help. If you come to NYC and you practice you owe it to yourself to stop by. No pictures of the inside of the store please, it’s just respectful not to.
Enchantments always has such a humble and welcoming environment. It is a small location, but is filled to the brim with materials, books, herbs, candles and everything to come with your witchy needs. The staff is generally friendly, knowledgeable and willing to assist you find what you need for whatever you happen to he looking to accomplish. Items are reasonably priced, and there are cats so this is definitely the place to go to for spiritual materials and ideals.
I gave 4 stars because this place has amazing things that you wont really find in other places of its type, its a good size and abundant with things to offer its guests. I knocked off one star because I have a very honest and sincere question: WHY DO THEY HIRE MEAN PEOPLE ONLY?? The managers MUST know about this by now, this rudeness from staff has been going on for years and years on end, and it always makes me wonder if theyre hexing me as I exit the store. Sure I leave with great items, but a sour feeling overall.Word of advice: Dont bother with chit chat, dont even say hello. These people are judging you the moment you step in.
I dont think they appreciate seemingly conventional customers. the truth is that, personally, in a store like this i do have a high standard for vibes (more so than other shops). I was treated politely but dismissively...I was coming from jury duty and had a blouse and blazer on and i think they wrote me off as a tourist type. i think each of the people that work there have gifts of their own and are probably very kind but i just felt judged and uncomfortable. Ive just begun working with herbs and light and i just wish everyone was kinder. again, they were polite just not kind.
Purchased an order online on Nov 29, and was told in an email (after contacting them) to expect it to be shipped within 2-4 weeks as they are experiencing delays. Now, 5 weeks later, I contact them through paypal for another update - I just wanted to know if the item had been made yet and when to expect it to be shipped and was pleasant about it. However, I just now got notification that they straight out canceled my order without saying why. I was being understanding since its a customized item and if they wouldve said it would take a couple more week I wouldve been cool with it, but they straight out refused to even deal with the situation. Keeping your customer in the loop is crucial! I would not order anything from them online. Perhaps in-store service is better.
Just went Thursday around 2:30. Staff are rude not interested in selling items and would rather gossip about each other. You leave feeling drained and need to recharge after. Their amulets are pretty good. Besides tarot.. you can find everything by Barclays in Brooklyn for 80% cheaper/more accessible. Was a let down.
I called them once to ask a question about merchandise, on the recommendation from a friend. The owner is reputed to be very nice, but the rude and obnoxious boy that I spoke with on the phone made me decide to never set foot in the place. Ive been to NYC many times since, but I wont go to a store with such rude employees.
Stopped in last week and while it’s a great shop, the negative engergy inside from staff is sadness esp after other reviews confirm this. If you do go just know what you’d like to get prior because you may not get the help you exactly seek so be prepared to be in and out for supplies you already know about. Great selection of books.
The inside of this place is magical. Clearly, the upside is that its filled with books, tarot cards, statues, incense, herbs, candles and so much more! The downside is in the customer service - sometimes theyre rude and you have to ask them when you want to pay because theyre clearly not attentive or are too busy carving things into candles. They should have someone pay attention at all times to customers of the place and have someone else do candle carvings in the back. Its quite rude!
Lovely stuff. One big problem. I was unaware of something and the woman wearing a bandanna was extremely rude when I asked. That is no way to treat a customer. Horrible woman, horrible customer service. Luckily another employee who was very nice kindly explained to me what I wanted to know. Im sure theyd be better off firing that monster of a woman. I dont recommend enchantments to anybody. There are plenty more metaphysical shops WITHOUT rude monstrous employees.
Horrible rude staff. They were so snobby and kept giving me nasty looks the moment I walked in. My friend and I were there looking for some herbs I needed and we just wanted to leave. They dont know what theyre doing and the lady with the pixie hair cut and strange contact eyes was the worst of them! She was giving me attitude and approached me aggressively. Lets not forget the male cashier. He kept following me while I was browsing their book selection. He didnt know the prices for the statues, he didnt know why some were more expressive than others, and he didnt know what they were made of. How do you hire someone who doesnt know what you sell?? What kind of manager hires staff like this??!!!
I used to love a lot of the old staff there, as soon as i walked in people were warm. i have lived on the same street for 3 years and have always gone to them. I bought a cauldron and it was not the right size so i tried to bring it back to see if we could work something out. i understand the laws of energy and there are things you just cant give back, but the new staff treated me horribly. nettie was very dismissive and i felt my presence was unwanted, especially by a guy with long hair who didnt even look at me when i was speaking to him at the cashier. I still bought things, and tipped anyways to counteract the negativity. i will never shop there again, but not everyone there is that way. take key in the people who are giving bad reviews and are all saying the same thing, blessed be.
Hey there, I’ve been shopping at Enchantments for two years now and I’m here to clear things up for good.First- let’s clear up all the negativity that people have been putting out there. Let me start out by saying what you put out into the universe is what you receive. So anybody who walks in here and feels like they get “judged” or stared at- it’s sinply because either the judgement that your subconsciously putting out, or simply because you clearly have no need to be in store like this. When you go in here and just walk around aimlessly, and then walk out 10 minutes later after petting the cats, obviously you’re gonna get looked at. Why go into a store, not buy anything but touch everything in sight and then leave? The people who are putting up negative and rude reviews are the people that either have no business shopping is a blessed store like this and are the ones actually placing judgements. What you put out there is what you receive, my loves. Now for the ones who are complaining about online orders - Enchantments is a store based in NYC. Quite recently, they introduced online ordering. So of course, don’t expect your orders to arrive the next day. If that’s the case, you should probably be shopping on amazon instead. The products they offer are customized and very special to the fullest extent, take time to produce and are created with strong intentions, love and care. So please, if you’re ordering online, be patient. Enchantments is mainly a store you walk into and shop. They recently added online ordering for convenience and as well as to stretch out their services to others. So please, be respectful, understanding and most importantly patient. Now, since that’s over with, let me give a proper, realistic review.Enchantments is an absolutely incredible store for all you’re witchy needs. Their selection of herbs is absolutely incredible, as well as their custom oils and incense that they sell. Their book selection is massive and they have amazing titles for all sorts of things going from spells books, book of shadows, auras, astral projecion and so much more their candles are absolutely ideal, and makes Enchantments even more special and unique. The custom candle process is so much fun to watch and the final product is absolutely beautiful. The workers here are incredible. They’re all very down to earth and are so much fun to be around. They’re truly amazing people and are all so besautifil inside and out. They’re very realistic and honest with what they do and that’s why they can sometimes come off as “rude”. They ARENT rude. They take what they do with lots of love and are incredibly real with you and down to earth. If you don’t like that, probably not the store for you.Thank you Enchantments for all the amazing blessings you’ve brought into my life. Yountrult brought magic into my life and I’m very thankful ❤️❤️❤️
Ive been here over the past few decades during different chapters of my life and its only gotten worse the younger the staff is. Not gonna be in NYC again anytime soon so this was my last time in the shop and Im not going to miss watching them bicker with each other, noticing how dirty the youth has become, witness them interrogating and refusing to serve a customer because magick is serious business (as if these guys are the arbiters of positive energy) and when I tested the waters by asking a simple small talk question like how do you pronounce this name, the girl at the counter just cursed at me for not knowing. I came in with a specific need, got what they said would be the solution, asked about old owners and allies by name and was met with scorn because apparently they keep having fallouts with the Wiccan community, left feeling worse for being ostracized for not having tattoos on my face or potatoes stuck in my dreadlocks. Wow, they have cats! Im allergic to cats so that means nothing to a guy who just wants to shop. They immediately hated me, I guess, but thanks for making me itch and eyeing me the whole time, I guess? Oils were cheap and nice, however, so 2 out of 5.
My best friend was going to surprise me for Christmas with a mother enchanted candle for me to burn, when i told her I was pregnant with my second. She ordered it December 9th. And it said she would get it around 2 weeks. Its now January 12th and she has not received it! She called the store a bit before Christmas and they said we are on back order it should be another week. well that week has past and so has another. I told her to call one more time since she cant track it and they said they are still working on orders from nov. 27th. First, if you put how long a product is going to take, you need to stick to that. Second, when we called the first time, why wasnt that advised and third get on your orders!!!!! It a candle not the Mona Lisa! I understand there is work put into it, but people spend good money for shipping and the product, we expect good quality service! For this terrible service it would be nice if they either said they are sorry, for one or put in a little something extra for the unconvince. I wont hold my breath though. I just have my hopes very low and maybe we will receive the candle in march? Who knows with this store.Just saw the post from below! Than why on earth would you refund the money tell us were not getting the product after waiting over a month for it! We still wanted the candle never said anything about not wanting it! Keep it up and you will be losing more business. Also your communication skills are lacking even if you are a small store no excuses.
First impression was the anti Christmas signs on their doors and pro krampus no dogs welcome as well. And no photographs in the store. Why anyway?? Place was disheveled. Regulations out the wazoo before I even entered..To top it off the employees are extremely rude. Especially the cat eye sorceress. As soon as we walked in the lady she scowled and barked if you need help tell me... Dont touch anything ... Needless to say.. I left.. As I look back I wish I took tons of pictures inside, brought my ptsd service dog in, while wearing a Santa hat. Ah well. Next time.If you want some of this fake magic garbage just get it from Amazon.
They have moved locations by about a block. 424 east 9th street. The store and staff are amazing! I went in not intending to buy anything, just browse. I walked out with some herbs, candles, a devotional incense whose formula they created on the spot and a custom made handfasting candle. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
I second Maryanne, shes absolutely right the owner is neurotic and super rude ( sort of a personality disorder, yes is that bad) avoid this place. you can have same merchandise in any ocult store in NYC where you are going to be treated like a decent human being. Ask a client to leave and dont come back again must be the last resource to be applied..like if someone is insulting the staff etc but without a valid reason? not the first time I saw her in action..but this time i got enough. Dont understand how she still in business. if you get treated that badly ( theres high a chance of it) dont be afraid to posted your thoughts, dont be concern about any psychic attack Retaliation any bad she sent or wish the universe will sent TWICE back to her...
I sensed a low level of vibration amongst the staff. Upon entry, no one acknowledges or greets you, and roving eyes of disconnect are projected, zombie-like. The employee with gauges earrings and half her scalp exposed, initial contact with I was her assumption that I was recording store products, when in fact I was FaceTiming. This made me feel alienated and killed my interest wholeheartedly. Furthermore, the staff lack of disclosure upon departure, strongly suggested poor customer service skill. “Enchanted Charlatans!”
I used to like Enchantments. But a young woman of color I know was treated disgracefully by a manager at Enchantments. There is a whole Yelp review about how abusive Netty was to this person. I thought Enchantments would address it or apologize or explain or something but they never did. That is not professional or considerate. They could still try to make it right and should, for their own karma.
I came from Queens looking for one quick item and arrived at 8:47 when they close at 9:00. I counted 5 people in the store and communicated through the window but they wouldnt let me in. I tried calling the store to ask if they had what I was looking for and they also wouldnt answer the phone because they could see it was me calling. What terrible service and arrogance.
Waited a little to give my review..because I was excited on getting my candle and of course it was one about love. I had a few questions about it afterwards because they misspelled my name..asked if it would still work if it was misspelled and they said yes...which I didnt believe. That was the first question..second..came way after the candle was done because I realized that the candle was PINK not RED as in for love not pink as in friendship or anything so that didnt make sense to me and I asked the question and they didnt respond. Its like they shoo you away when you ask them something so youll calm down about it and let it go..but the fact that they couldnt answer me when I asked about the color which was completely different than my intent was what got to me that this place isnt as legit when it comes to custom made candles..I paid a lot of money for the candle itself and $15 for shipping which was insane..all to not even get answers about the candle I was expecting to actually have lit in the right color.
If you ask for help, you get it. I assume that anyone writing reviews that are saying theyre nasty or unhelpful, were probably rude first. Also, in regard to the cat, if you treat it with respect, it wont bite you. Let it smell your hand, ask if you can pet it, and wait for some sort of answer. The herb selection isnt really what Id hoped for but is probably thebest they could do with the space given to them.
The truth is this place just wasnt my jam. Its not that it didnt have everything. Its just that the energy was all wrong. The people working there were rude and not super knowledgeable about the items in store.I really really wanted to love this place but it didnt turn out that way.
Small shop with a few books, tarot cards, herbs, candles, and incense. Friendly staff, although the cat on the counter was a bit indifferent ;) Bought a solar blast candle for a friend and a candle kit for myself (concentration and academic success), have a feeling both will be just what we need!
I miss the old enchantments. Im talking about waaaaay back, when Lexa Rosean was a tarot reader there! (Yes, I was a kid going there with my mom! Loved the smell, the vibe, etc..)Now, its a new owner and well all things must change I suppose. It feels ordinary occult shop to me now. Maybe it is I who has changed!

2022-05-28I absolutely love this spot. Kind of kicking myself that I forgot the name of the shopkeeper at the counter. Its not a hard one to remember. They were awesome though. I got a great tarot card deck from there. Nobody followed me around the shop like they do over at Namaste. Kick rocks Namaste! I even think its a woman owned business which was nice to and they had a lovely little dog. I can definitely see myself making many more visits back there. And while youre there stop over at Hecate next door

2022-06-14I found Enchantments 20 YEARS AGO when I cut school and went to the city. Took me YEARS to find them again and I’m so glad I did!I commute from Queens/LI to Enchantments anytime I need specific cleansing salts, candles, incense, and other stuff. The vibe is always so dope when I’m in there, the girls are always so helpful. It’s such a vibe in there. I could literally sit in there all day just chillin and talking with all of them! They give great advice, especially when they’re carving a candle for you, prices are reasonable, and even though COVID restrictions are lightening up, they still want to keep their patrons safe and still ask to mask up and use the hand sanitizer at the door (which I really appreciate, I have contact with elderly and sick family members and I do my best to keep them safe). The new location is about a block away, a bit bigger, and is next to Hekate coffee shop (didnt have time to pop in there but I’ll definitely be in there next time). Transit is a little scarce around there but I don’t mind the walk from the L train.I’ve been to other metaphysical shops in Long Island which are much closer to me, but the vibe isn’t the same as Enchantments. I’ll take the train ride to the city any day. So worth it! Thank y’all for always being so helpful and so dope whenever I’m there!

2022-04-17I’m not usually one to write reviewers but my experience at enchantments today definitely warranted one. this was my first visit to a metaphysical store to purchase herbs and whatnot to kickstart my magickal practice. the employees of enchantments were super friendly and went above and beyond in terms of helpfulness! even suggesting herbs that would pair well with the ones on my list to be used in spells for happiness and luck. i also noticed the cashier enthusiastically helping a pair of tourists read their map and figure out where they were headed next !!! there was no air of intimidating snooty-ness i’ve found at other shops specializing in niche interests and i felt comfortable asking any questions (as i am very very new to the practice of witchcraft) i had. this is not even touching upon the vast variety of herbs, books, and assorted metaphysical paraphernalia stocked by enchantments. they have a massive selection of herbs, sold by the 1/2oz, and measured by the employees right in front of you. they also offer custom candle carving for any specific magickal needs one might have. overalla great experience for my first visit to a metaphysical store, 100% recommended to anyone who has any interest in witchcraft. thank you, enchantments !!!

2021-10-04We have come from afar, wear our sources are few. They were very nice and so glad they are open. I would give more stars for more effort in seeing what they had. With neck issues couldnt see the tangled necklaces. And I fell outside the shop.

2021-07-03Enchantments is a place to buy products and customized products while experiencing its culture. I have found most if not all of the herbs I need at any given time and the staff moves at a great pace to assist you. You are free to move about to explore and visible signs where the preference is to get assistance.Culture:If any of you remember/ know no soup for you episode of the Seinfeld show then you are well equipped.Err on the side of not agitating any of those witches so walk in slowly to see if theyve hit max capacity before barreling inside. Otherwise they are quite lovely, if you are too. These are my observations because I know how to be respectable.Ive sensed that people enter into every publicly opened shop like the staff is beholden to them as a consumer. Dont make that mistake here.

2021-05-07I don’t often put reviews but I did come all the way from NJ to see this place .. I came for a specific pack of tarot cards ..(they didn’t have which is okay) but however a lady who was telling me about how to use tarot and such gave me a very negative feelings .. almost like, there’s a certain way of doing tarot cards or witchcraft In General which is why I’m giving it three stars .. how ever ! There’s a sweet young lady around mine 20’s and had a Cheetah print scarf around her hair ..was super helpful! And understands people’s needs, loved her vibe ! 😊 overall .. some of things are here are pricey.. certain things you can find reasonable
