Enterprise Rent-A-Car in other cities:
Decent staff but terrible management and communication.I was hit by a driver on rt 81 on weds dec 18 2019. after being towed to a shop in cortland, I called enterprise to come pick me up (as per their literal company slogan) and was advised that they had no one available to pick anyone up that day as there was only one staff member working. Luckily, I work not that far from where I was taken in the tow truck and had one of my colleagues give me a ride there.I arrived to find a single associate working in an 80+ degree store sweating profusely with the windows open.all they had in stock was a mustang, a 12 passenger van, a rear wheel drive truck and a kia. Given that I was 30 miles from home, I elected to take the kia. The associate was accommodating given the circumstances. They authorized $150 on my credit card because the driver that hit mes insurance does not do direct billing and I was on my way.2 days later, I receive a rude and rushed phone call from a gentleman who claims to be the branches manager asking me why i hadnt brought the car back. I explained my situation, and that I would likely need a car for nearly a month, given that my vehicle was incapacitated by the accident. He tells me that he needs to authorize another $230 against my credit card to get me through until monday even though I had already given them $150 and they had agreed to a rate of $30 a day. When pressed on the issue, he said that it was for a deposit or something.I ended up calling and speaking to enterprise national customer service, as the location closed right as we got off the phone. they were friendly, but couldnt explain why he was trying to overcharge me $30 if taking a deposit into consideration. I was told a regional manager would call me. they never did.I called the insurance company and pleaded with them to get me a larger allowance for a car, as a Kia is not comparable to my vehicle that was damaged by their insured. I was allocated an additional $10, for a total of $40 a day.I waited a few days and went back to the location on 12/26 to see if I could get a vehicle that was better suited to the weather in the location. I was greeted with oh, youre the guy that called corporate, and was offered a four wheel drive Nissan Frontier pickup for an additional $10 a day. I accepted.I got into the vehicle not only to find that it was, in fact, a two wheel drive Nissan Frontier, but it smelled exactly like a smoking motel room. I asked the rep if there was anything that they could do to resolve, and they told me that I could either go back to the Kia, or I could drive the truck until they find me an actual four wheel drive. The next day, I received a call from the rep that had switched me into the pickup stating that they had another vehicle for me, and this time it was actually four wheel drive and asked me to come in. As I started to leave, I realized that I had left one of the sets of keys at home, and called to ask them if I could still switch, but bring them the keys the next time I come down (monday) They say no, if I dont return both sets of keys, I will be charged an additional non refundable $300.I tell them to leave me on the list and I would make sure to bring both sets of keys the next time I come to Cortland (monday)The next day (today, Saturday, 12/28) I receive yet another rude voicemail from the manager with no customer service skills just as theyre closing for the day (Im seeing a pattern here) asking me why i havent returned the vehicle as I supposedly was only put in to have it until today.I am not calling him back.I have dealt with Enterprise on multiple occasions in the past, and I have never had to deal with such incompetence. If you can find a way to get to another branch, do it. This one is the worst.
I recently rented an 8 passenger vehicle for my daughters wedding, and I started dealing with the Ithaca office, and ended up picking up from the Cortland office. From start to finish I had some of the best customer service ever! The staff at both offices were extremely professional, friendly and made things super easy. I will not hesitate to use them again.
Ive rented cars many times. The cars have always been great I never have any problems. This time the car was great as always, service was a little hectic but they had just moved into their new location. Setting up the reservation online after hours was awesome. I would recommend renting a car here.
I filed an online request to rent a car the night before. Was contacted to a Wonderful Person, I apologize I do not remember your name. The process was seamless and easy. Quick and everything was well explained. I chose to purchase the extra insurance (seriously do it) had no issues with the vehicle I had, I did get an upgrade for free due to poor winter conditions. I had to contact the Cortland Enterprise Rent-A-Car Representative again she was knowledgeable, kinda, patient, very clear and easy to understand, kind and was very trustworthy. She really took the stress out of renting a car. I had to keep the car an extra day and wasnt charged extra because I chose tio drop the key in an overnight keybox at an enterprise several counties away from where I picked up the vehicle.Thank you!!!
I had rented a few times from them and had all good experiences. Representatives are generally pleasant and friendly. But my latest experience was not too pleasant. The car I got was dirty so I had to clean it when I arrived to my friend’s house. Later when I returned it I forgot to fill up the gas tank so was charged $4.50 per gallon which I think is rediculous when price per gallon is $3. I will not be renting from here anymore!
The Cortland, NY branch is amazing. They had a car at my door in less than 15 minutes. Thats 15 minutes total, from placing the reservation, to pick up! They knew that I had wasted 5 hours waiting for another rental company to get back to me. The guys at the Cortland branch made a decision to help me out ASAP.My thanks for a job well done.
First time renting a car. They customer service was good. Although I did have a $8.99/day charge on my bill that I was not aware of. I Have had no time to call and dispute the charge. The car had a plug in the tire which didnt make me feel very comfortable driving 2,000 miles with but I had no choice as the company was closed once I discovered it. Someone had used rain x on the windshield at one point and the smearing was terrible in the pouring rain!!! Gunk in the steering wheel that was missed when cleaning?
Reserved car online, never got a confirmation call, when I called to confirm they were not sure they had a car for me. Finally they called and said I would have a car. When I returned the car they said I should see my deposit returned directly after and I didnt see it for a week. Loved the cat though!
Good customer service. Talked us into insurance coverage Im not sure we really needed. So it costed more money. I didnt understand pricing. But my husband made the agreement. Car was just back from being washed and detailed but it was spotty and window was foggy. Definitely needed to be washed off again.
Due to a recent accident I had to get a rental, while my initial experience was not all that great with Enterprise, the following day of picking up my rental, I had called and reported a few issues with the car I had originally been given. Thanks to Hannah, the problems were quickly corrected and I was even upgraded to another vehicle. I would definitely use Enterprise in Cortland, NY again if needed and would do any dealings with Hannah!
I had made my reservation on the national call in and the person that set me up originally didnt have me in the system properly. The folks at the Cortland branch immediately recognized this and corrected my rate and offered me an upgrade to a pick-up, which I happily accepted. Fantastic service all the way around!
We have rented thru this location multiple times. This time there were hiccups. Policy not being followed and now are. The regional manager was able to help and got us on our way. The rental had a terrible smell, the branch manager tried to fix, but it wasnt a lasting fix. We may have been able to change out vehicle when another came available but did not want the hassle. The staff apologized for the inconvenience , hopefully the next renter wont have the same issue with that car.
Update my original review-Enterprise completely satisfied my concern and I will certainly continue to use the rental car company in Cortland NY.My dissatisfaction is not because of the service I received or the vehicle itself. Because you are not open on Sunday when I needed the car rental to begin I had to pick up the car on Saturday by noon, over a full day more than I needed the rental. So, I had to pay for 3 days instead of 2.There really needs to be an automated way that the car can be released while the store is closed on Sunday.Another pick up location was not an option for me as I could not get to Ithaca or Syracuse.
Good service but I am sick of getting cars with partial tanks of fuel. I dont have time to fuel up before departing and I dont want to fuel up when returning the car leaning in the window watching the fuel gauge. Additionally a client wouldnt pay for fueling up in the morning because they assume I drove somewhere else, not on their project. Each vehicle should have a full tank of fuel.
Hannah was phenomenal, helping me, greeting customers and answering phones all on her own. She was very efficient and stuck her neck out so that I didnt have to wait any longer, allowing me to begin my trip. I will always use Enterprise to rent a car. Thank you, Hannah!
I rented a car from Fairview New Jersey and I drove to New York and engine light came up for some reason. I called their office and they told me that you have to go to the nearest location of enterprise which is Courtland NY. There was a manager there and he told me that there is no car for now, it takes 3 to 4 hour the get a new car. After a few minutes later he told me that I have a car it just needs to the oil change. I said it is ok. On the Other hand, he told me that your thang half. I told him I can go to the gas station and filled up. He said ok. when you got here, your car will be ready for use. then I filled up the gas and drove their parking lot. When I got there he just gave me the keys and he said you good to go. I took to the car and drove to New Jersey. When I return the car they checked the car and they told me that there are many scratches top of the car and I said I did not know that and nobody show me there are many scratches top of the car. I told them the car was an oil change there must be a camera in there and their parking lot. They still hold my $250.00 for three weeks.I am a University professor I teach the good things for students and I dont tell the lie but I know how to follow legal procedures. This guy at the office do not deserve the work there because he did not do his job and create disaster for customers.
Ive rented from here a couple times (somewhat by default because Enterprise is a preferred vendor for our company and so for us theyre the only game in town). My experience has ranged from meh to disappointed and upset. My most recent visit was the latter, ending with me having to drive to Ithaca and rent from Avis.
Make sure you ask for a car with out issues and ask for a clean one too. Its hard to find a clean one. Oh and you need a smaller car because your significant other is 5, well heres a big ass truck that she cant drive. Their cars are dumpy surprising that they cant take care of brand new vehicles, or at least keep them clean!
The worst enterprise location I’ve ever been too! Super unprofessional management and employees. They do not fallow their own guidelines and the customer is the one who has to suffer for their mistakes! I’m surprise that they’re still in business and they haven’t had a lawsuit yet! Do not come to this location.
I rented a car after a women ran into mine and totaled it, got car Friday night it was Easter weekend, was given car for only 4 days being paid by her insurance, when turned car in there was a scratch on fender which was obviously old, they are blaming me, I did not scratch this car, to protect yourself take pictures of the car before you drive it off lot, now my insurance is paying for something I did not do, I will never ever use enterprise again, the do not do there jobs, if they did this car would have had the scratch documented and I would not be paying for something I did not do!

2022-04-23Car got totaled by a falling tree in a storm. They do not make it that easy to get a car when you dont have an easy way to get there. They rarely have cars available when you dont schedule day(s) in advance which not having my own transport was not easy to guaranteeCalling them is next to useless tried to setup an appointment, spent 15 to 20 minutes on hold while all representatives are busy only to be be told Can not complete transfer call again and hung up on, had this happen twice. Terrible service would have gone some place else if my insurance didnt lock me into Enterprise

2021-11-09My co-worker and I just rented a car on Saturday and everything about the renting process from start to finish was perfect minus the horrendous behavior of some other customers in front of us. I have literally never witnessed such vile behavior by anyone in person in my life. These girls were abominable and should be ashamed of themselves. Conversely, the person behind the counter, Ian, remained professional, helpful, patient and kind. I was extremely impressed with his ability to handle these unsavory characters and situation. Despite rude and demanding customers, Ian kept right on doing a great job, gave us a perfectly cleaned car with additional cleaning amenities and took the time needed to show us the car and answer our questions. I also appreciated the communication and follow up of Kyle today. These guys did a great job and we will be renting from here again. Thank you!

2021-05-12Ive been an Enterprise fan for many years, mostly because I appreciate their model of hiring bright young people who give great service. A car is a car, but it is nice to deal with good folks! The car I received had been driven by a darned heavy smoker, not really obvious in cold weather to start my rental, but readily apparent when warmer weather arrived. Enterprise apologized and waived any charges to fill up the gas tank. Thanks, Enterprise.

2021-10-04Saturday October 2nd, 2021 was called and informed 30 minutes prior to my picking up time. My vehicle that I reserved 3weeks prior was no longer available. Drove to location because they were not answering phone and because they never called me back regarding what my options could be. Poor communication and horrible customer service.

2021-03-01Called on break told them I would be there at 1, was told I was getting a Nissan versa, got there and was told I was getting a Chevy Malibu but, it would be 20 mins cause it needed an oil change and 2 tires. Nice people on the phone, no communication and poor management

2015-08-04They were accommodating when the first intermediate car they offered me was uncomfortable for me. They were patient and understanding. However, I ended up with a van. Nice van, but a bigger vehicle than I was looking for. Then, when I tried to return the van 5 days later, they didnt have anyone to take me (2 miles down the road) to work. I had to bring it back the next day when there was more than one person on staff. Also, it was not made clear to me from the beginning that this was a weeks rental. I guess thats automatic after a certain number of days? I dont rent a vehicle often enough to remember all the idiosyncrasies of the business!Point being that I would have arranged my week differently had I known I had two more days to return the vehicle. And I would have picked the car up earlier on Saturday to maybe get a better choice of vehicles.Overall, miscommunication and lack of variety of vehicle choice knocked down my rating. The car was relatively clean with some dirt and debris in the rear of the van, but nothing really offensive. In the past Ive had good experience with their pick up service, but they let me down on this one this time. They did give me a ride to work the next day. This rental was for a business trip through my employer just down the road. I know they do a lot of business with my company. I expect the best of service because of the volume of sales/rentals by my company. Im not sure I got got their best customer service...
