This the worse place ever. My husband came for a procedure. And ended up in the ER with literally screaming pain by his kidney on his left side. He has print near screamed for 5 hours and no one cares! Ive been in tears begging for help, and I keep getting told hes gotta wait. They claimed he got pain meds he never got. Im close to suing this hospital for malpractice!
I was suicidal, ready to take two bottles of opioids with a bottle of liquor chaser. But made the terrible decision to go to CPEP instead. I WOULD RATHER DIE than go back to CPEPIn no small exaggeration. I would hang myself from the closest tree I could find, rather than get help from CPEP. Id rather my mother find my rotting body hanging from her backyard tree than spend a second in the CPEP unit.
They tell you call at 8am and everyday I call Im always on hold for over 40 minutes just for them to tell you they dont take certain insurances or for them to keep putting you on hold. I was seen for a dental abscess for my wisdom tooth in the ER for EVRYRHING to take hours there as well and the dental office is upstairs and it seems they dont work together at all. I dont recommend this dental clinic and you need to fix your call times. Dont tell people call at 8am for emergency purposes only and only have one person for the phones.
This hospital is one of the worst hospitals nobody knows nothing nobody can tell you nothing nurses and people that work the extremely rude one of them was talking about my husband right in front of me I walked by and she was talking right in front of me a bad about him dont hit the call button if you need something cuz youll be waiting for 2 hours you probably die first if you want if you want to die go to ECMC cuz theyll probably kill you there place is disgusting dirty and the people that work there are disgusting and dirty there are a few that were very nice but for the most part very very rude and dont have a very good people skills I feel bad for the older people that are there that will use the call button and the nurses take theyre sweet time to get there what happens if one of them fell and is bleeding on the floor and they come an hour later finally answer your call very very unhappy if there was a thing for -5 Stars Id give him minus 10 I will be calling human resources tomorrow and talking to somebody in person because this is ridiculous
We arrived at the ER at 11 this morning and it’s now 8:51 pm and we have not seen a doctor yet. The front desk staff is not helpful at all. Only reply we get is that this a trauma center and we don’t have any bed’s available and your name will be called when a bed is ready.Terrible experience.
I called Saturday told them my situation I had a really bad infection for 2days at that point. WSnt able to sleep at all due to pain. They said to call Monday morning to get an appointment. I call Monday morning the lady that answered told me to call my dentist about 4xs. While Im explaining hes on vacation and the amount of pain Im in. She told me unless I was a patient they refused to see me. Im amazed at the attitude and level of disregard that was shown. Its amazing considering the name is ecmc emergency dental.
Literally the worst hospital I’ve ever been in. I would give them a negative five stars if I could because it was such a horrendous experience. I was in inpatient psych, and I was actually further traumatized by being in there (according to my actual therapist). The nurses were useless and rude, and the psychiatrist literally only talked to me for five minutes a day and didn’t even listen to me. Not to mention I had tendinitis from being in the ICU, and when I tried to ask for someone to look at why my wrist was hurting and I couldn’t use it, they told me there was nothing they could do to help me. In a /hospital/. I could literally go on for hours about how terrible this experience was (I have pages of notes I wrote while in the hospital about my experience because it was the only way I had to cope). I hope I never have to go through the horrors of being in that hospital ever again.
I came here physically healthy and left pre-diabetic, their childrens psych is a joke and the psychiatrists+therapists are honestly disgusting at their jobs, disrespectful to parents, strangely immature.do your best to avoid ecmc as a whole, but really really only go for mental if you’re looking for a 13th reason.
Over the past 2 years the hospital has had the worst care I’ve ever seen. I was in a car accident with my son 8/17/20. They never did x rays or anything. They gave me pain meds and discharged me not knowing I would need a cervical spine fusion due to injuries sustained from the accident. My son wasn’t given anything no test ran and he was discharged. He too was injured we later found out. Today my daughter who is a asthmatic went to be seen because she couldn’t sit up and had severe chest pains due to covid. They put her in a room with tiny chairs sitting next to each other not even 6ft apart. She sat in that room in pain scared. Triage nurse told her we only going to give you Tylenol and cough medicine. No one ever came to see her the few hours she waited not to even check on her. To make matters worst they sent a lot of people with covid in that room who were throwing up and sick like she was. No one knows what variant of covid they have or the severity. No one checked on them for hours. She decided to leave AMA because she couldn’t take the pain and couldn’t sit up. I was told she would be in good hands before I brought her and when I called up there. They lied. If you have Covid or severely sick I don’t recommend this hospital. They just want the money without giving you the care you went there for.
In 2015 my mother went to Erie County Medical Center not feeling well. Had surgery...everything was good. 2 days later several of her organs started to shut down. She was dead less than 2weeks after!!! They (THE DOCTORS) wanted to make my mother a guinea pig and just cut on her knowing it wouldnt help. I TRULY BELIEVED THEY KILLED HER🤔🤔🤬!!!THE DOCTOR CAME IN PRONOUNCED MY MOTHER DESD AND WALKED OUT THE ROOM...NEVER SAID A WORD TO ME. I WAS HOLDING HER HAND!!!!😤😱😢
A family member went missing and all they did was just transfer me and transfer me when I called to see if they were there after a person told me my family member was thereI’m so angry and disrespected by my experience that I pray the people who shuffled me around fee how I felt! They also should be lucky I’m not willing to throw my life away over this but I swear I want to put them on the news!!!
Worst hospital in Erie County by far ......the most traumatic part of cutting half my finger off ...was having to sit for 6 hours bleeding and in pain in the waiting room with a dirty t-shirt for a bandage........after waiting 6 hours to be seen I was told to [ hang in there ]....I think I hung pretty patiently for 6 hours but what do I know
The Wound Clinic there is ridiculous!! Do not hold your breath (or your leg wound) trying to get an appointment there. When I first called there after being referred by ECMC Emergency DEPT. they needed a written referral from the Dr. I saw even though I gave them the name of the Doctor after calling the er several times and leaving msgs for that referral and continuously calling the wound clinic to see if they received the requested information they finally told me I could get a referral from my primary.. they also told me that appointments were being scheduled two weeks out (even though I was seen in THEIR ER AND REFERRED THERE BY AN EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR).. but I digress.. my primary took a day or two to get the referral in to the wound clinic. I waited, they said they would call me when they received the proper information to schedule an appointment. Three days after I know they received the information I called them. This is when they decided to tell me that all referrals have to be looked at by their medical director before an appointment can be scheduled. Now I must have called this place at least ten, twelve times, altogether each time letting them know that I was in ALOT of pain. I spoke to maybe two different girls that answered the phone. So I’m sure they remembered me and my plight. Let me tell you it has now been almost two weeks since they received my referral and I haven’t heard ANYTHING back from them. Obviously I had to go elsewhere and schedule an appointment which to be fair also was scheduled two weeks out. BUT the very day I called was the day they scheduled me, hmmm no referral needed! They just wanted notes from my primary from my last visit with her and a list of my medications. The Wound Clinic at ECMC is “a separate entity from the hospital” their words. But how nice it must be to get tons of referrals from probably the busiest hospital in the city and get to pick and choose who they take without regard for the patient and without even the slightest gaf to at least call people back and let them know they are not interested in helping with the problem they are having or at the very least giving them an alternative clinic(s) to call. SHAMEFUL!
NEGATIVE STARS WOULD HAVE BEEN PREFERRED!!!!!!I have several clients that use this facility. They go to many different departments within this hospital. RUDE!!!! Im so going to switch providers for my clients. It doesnt matter where they go in this hospital the providers are RUDE. They dont answer the phone, and if they do you are on hold for over 15 minutes and the people who answer the phone are absolutely horrible. They must be hard up to keep staff that are that rude. I am making it a priority to move my clients to a different facility.
I would NOT recommend becoming a new patient at their dental facility. My husband needs dental work done and has been dealing with the pain for over a month now, we scheduled an appointment a month out (that was the soonest they had an opening) today, a week before his appointment he recieves a call telling him that he has to reschedule and there are no openings until mid December which would bring his appointment out 4 months before he is able to be seen. Having a patient suffer daily for 4 months is inhumane and shows that they have no regard for their patients or their wellbeing.
I fell off a railing and busted my forehead open.. was rushed to ECMC in an ambulance and had to wait about an hour and a half to be seen (on a Saturday). Once I was taken in, I received some of the best care that Ive ever had. The staff was incredibly nice, patient, and helpful - thanks Tony and Amanda! The facility itself was also super clean and inviting. They took great care of me, ran diagnostics, stitched me up, and sent me on my way.I thought I fell hard cracking my head open... but I think I fell harder in love with ECMC.
Checked in at 12pm haven’t been seen yet and the time is now 7:03pm I’ve been in the waiting room since I got here . From what I’m being told there are no rooms available for new patients. COVID has impacted so much. This is crazy I’m in pain, I guess they’re doing their best to speed up the process, idk but wouldn’t recommend!
Terrible would not recommend. If you were brought to cpep because of attempted suicide, this place will just solidify your view that suicide is the answer.ProI was allowed to pull the paint chips off the wall and I found a pen.ConsI had to sleep on the floor because no bedsI was expecting a lobotomy but didnt get itIn conclusion breakfast was okay
I am absolutely terrified of the dentist and they stepped up and made me so comfortable. I needed an infected tooth pulled and they got it out with barely any pain. I needed more numbing than normal but the Dentist handled it like a pro. The staff was so nice and were not mean or condescending and respected my fear. All in all I was there for an hour and 12 minutes from start to finish. 10/10 recommend.
My surgery 8yrs ago was a good experience. Friendly staff, helpful and understanding. Now having issues where I need to see the surgeon I had before and because a change of insurance the staff Is treating me like a number not a person. All I want is to be seen to figure out what the issue is Im having so I can go back to work! Cant even be seen for 2 months!
I feel like not enough people know this so Im saying it here: DO NOT SEEK PSYCHIATRIC CARE HERE IF YOU ARE ON LIFE PRESERVING MEDICATION. You will not have access to it in the psychiatric ER. Youll be transferred to the regular ER when you start to have a medical emergency but in the meantime you just have to push through your symptoms. Im fortunate enough that I dont have any fatal medical conditions but not everyone is in the same boat so I thought I would give a warning.
We came to trauma care from Canada, the care my husband received was absolutely wonderful, everyone was so attentive, competent and caring. There was no lying in the hall waiting for care, staff were kind , considerate and caring and we cannot say enough how impressed and pleased we are with the care he received. Even waiting in the waiting room while they worked on him, the staff kept me informed and the wait was not that long before I was allowed into the room where he was. The hospital was so clean and everyone did their best to help when ever we had a request. The nurses were there whenever the bell was rung, we did not wait hours for a nurse, doctors came to the room daily and we received a written report with the results of his CT scan, that is unheard of in Canada. His nurses on the 12th floor were sweet and so helpful, actually everyone was wonderful. We are so thankful that the EMT took him to your hospital because he got excellent care, from past experience in our country we know he would not have gotten that degree of care here. We are so thankful, cannot say enough how thankful and impressed we are and just want to let you know that we appreciate the care received. Richard and Dale Berry, Ridgeway Ontario
Very good for trauma, but average at best for other maladies. The ER wait time is unreal, especially if you get admitted yo the hospital. I once had a cardiac emergency there and once they semi-stabilized me (they still couldnt maintain my blood pressure at an acceptable level) I laid on a gurney for just over hours waiting to get a bed on a medical floor for further treatment. And this wasnt my first time getting stuck in the ER for so long. Hopefully once they build the new ER this will no longer be as much of a problem. The doctors are so-so, but the RNs are absolutely wonderful and caring folks.
Dont come here if you have a mental health crisis, they are TERRIBLE. The adult ward is literally just paid baby sitting. They dont separate extreme cases (which made me feel super unsafe), they are low staffed, the staff barely do their job. I was only asked about my well being when my guardians complained, and only saw a doctor after they knew their patients were onto them about barely doing anything. There were always full beds as well. I will never be going here again, and I recommend all mental health patients to go elsewhere.
Long story short, finally met with Derek Lynch in the ER. He immediately made us feel comfortable, even laugh. He explained the problem in understandable medical terms. He presented options and got us on our way. Wish every dr had the personality and patience of Derek Lynch!!
I have been here since 12:30 and just got in room at 9:30. I wouldnt never had been called if I finally decided to them to check my name. The claim the called at 3 and got no response. No you called some other JOHNSON because I asked whats the first name. I sat here in pain and blood pressure is 160 over 112.
I experienced WONDERFUL care and treatment for outpatient surgery! From the registration to transport to my car. EVERY PERSON was so pleasant and caring. The entire process ran as smoothly as a fine clock. They made be feel very comfortable and took away all my concerns. My gratitude highest regards to all your amazing staff!! Thank you!
I had a kidney stone. I had to first wait for 2 hours in waiting room. Then wait for one hour for a nurse to come and take my blood sample, then wait for 5 hours for blood report to come all along....imagine the pain of kidney stone for so long time. They knew that I had kidney stone, but said it’s just back pain probably to calm me down until the lab reports were there...I felt like dying that day....don’t go here for Emergencies. Imagine if a person had a heart attack, he would probably die if waiting for 7 hours.
This review is based only on my experience with the surgery suite. I was scheduled for orthopedic surgery at 10:15 am. I received a call from my surgeon’s office the day before notifying me to arrive at 8 am. I arrived and checked in at 7:55 am. There was no greeting. No hello or good morning. I was immediately told, “You’re late! We’ve all been waiting for you.” How was I late? I arrived before the time I was given? Mind you, I had NEVER been in ECMC and there was construction going on at the main entrance making things very difficult to navigate. I didn’t know where I was going. The woman that did my registration was extremely rude with me the entire time I was giving her my information. Her name tag was turned around so I couldn’t see her name. I can’t blame her! If I acted like that, I wouldn’t want people to know my name either. If my surgeon would have given me a choice to go somewhere else, I would have walked out at that moment. People’s nerves are already high and adding stress and rudeness is the LAST thing patients need. The woman that then brought me back was just as rude! I tried talking to her and she didn’t say a single word back! Then I meet Sherrie, my nurse. My goodness. What a breath of fresh air she was. She has the greatest sense of humor and has a way of lightening the mood. Luckily, I don’t get nervous before surgeries, but I know a lot of patients do. Sherrie will make you feel at ease and make you laugh until it’s time for you to go in. This nurse is a godsend! Next I’ll move onto Colin. Colin was a student, I believe to be a nurse anesthetist or similar. He was so caring and also had a good sense of humor. He had a nice demeanor and I could see his drive to learn. He said he was hired on to be an employee and you are so lucky to have him, ECMC! Thanks again to the 2 friendly people who made the process of surgery less painful here at ECMC. To the witch at the front desk of the surgery suite: “In a world where you can be anything, be a Sherrie or Colin.” I don’t wish for anyone to lose their job, but maybe she’d be better utilized in a department that doesn’t directly interact with patients. Maybe somewhere in the basement.
Me and my husband are up in the new York area for his work (we live in Missouri) and I was 12 weeks pregnant. I was bleeding pretty heavily so we went to this ER. Upon arrival the ER had people smoking in it, it stunk of alcohol and urine. We sat in the waiting room for 7 hours while they took back druggies and drunks who came in after us. They did NOT care that a pregnant women was bleeding heavily. My husband had to ask 3 times when we would be seen. We finally got taken back into a room and the nurse was rude and in a hurry. The resident had no idea what he was doing. Then the morning nurse and dr came and they were way way better! I unfortunately had a miscarriage. They set me up an appt at the Kensington OB for the following day to check levels. That was another bad experience in and of itself. If youre pregnant and having issues i urge you to go anywhere else!
All these bad reviews certainly dont match my experience. I have had nothing but excellent care, and My nurses Justin, Amanda, and Lynn on the night shift were awesome. yes, I did have to wait for surgery, but it is a trauma center, and they are busy. I received excellent care from caring professionals.
Awful, horrible hospital. The nurses were incredibly rude and were more concerned talking to each other about the number of times that they had been written up that week (hm, I wonder why they were getting written up so often?) than caring for patients. They didnt actually care about my well being, they just wanted to do the bare minimum possible and then charge me through the roof for staying overnight. DO NOT go to this hospital. Wish I could give negative stars.
Extremely poor patient records. I spoke with a Professional (their words) to request info. from my records for another physician. The woman I talked to was dismissive and rude. She stated that they dont have any records from my former physician who is now at ECMC as he closed his former practice. I had previously been told that ECMC and UBMD (Drs former location) were associated so records should not be a problem. She then stated that she has no idea how to get my info. as ECMC has nothing to do with it. If this is any indication of how things are handled, I would never consider being a patient there. Good luck getting your records!
Made me wait in a an emergency room for 24hrs on a mat that was the basic equivalent of a kindergarten sleep mat for like 18hrs. They kept running me around said a bed had out in then it hadn’t then it did. Me while I received little to no attention, my mom had to stay there overnight thinking we were getting a room. I have back, neck and rib injuries from falls. A doctor eventually came in and said there was no bed one IV, meds were never on time. They send a bill it’s getting sent right back to them for inadequate care. I’m in sick pain for the bed I can barely walk and am tripping around the house. Should have gone to mercy. What’s worse they didn’t let me transfer but let me go a few hours later for no beds. Doctors seemed battled at the same usual stuff I’ve told them!
Ok so fam recently takes latuda ok and at moment the doctor at monsinior car debra hasnt gave my mom 72 years old refil with all this covid going on u think think they would help elserly..now this mediaction keeps her to stay sane /so she suffer been ecmc 4 times and they dont even help her u know i use to love ecmc u people need to help people when their there she has proof she gets medication so whats the problem.. she need an online place where thy can just give her the meds she needs without having go out the house she cant hardly walk conect her with place so she can get help asap.. so im going to hospital again with her right now,,i swear no one helps u when u need it especially the elderly..this has to stop..
Incredibly fast, caring, and professional staff. We were in the waiting room for 10 MINUTES before my father was given a room and met with a doctor. Within an hour he was given several tests and met with the on duty specialists. He was constantly offered water, blankets and anything else he could need. I highly recommend this hospital if you or you loved ones are in need of emergency medical services.
Very careless staffVisited the ENT clinic today with my father who has a tracheotomy and he was having difficult time berthing since we were waiting for 3 hours for his appointment. By the time we get inside another half an hour and then the doctors just walks in quickly without even saying hello as he finished checking him and in the middle of a conversation another guy comes and calls him outside and leaves us waiting again , ten min past and hes not back so the nurse comes and send us out and tells us everything will be mailed to you !!! Four hours with my sick father for that sentence
Not my experience but witnessed it for a family member. Nurses very unprofessional and speak very rudely to patients. She said it was cold in her room nurse stated it was warm enough and that it was project hot meaning it was hot like the apartments be in public housing. Her room was always filthy. She was served her food always in an unappealing mannner and it was always cold. How can a hospital not have enough gowns for there patients. It should have closed down when it Edward J Myer Memorial.
Kinda disgusting, not cleaned, they refused to give me water or food even after I finished my tests for long enough to cause a severe headache and nausea which they blamed on head trauma which my primary later said there was none. I ended up asking to sign myself out against professional advice because I had no confidence in their ability and when I asked to do so of the 2 doctors I had seen neither showed up in with the paperwork. Instead they sent in a man with tattoos, quite the muscular build and the most Im trying to be intimidating look ive ever seen. He informed me that I could die if I left which no one had told me and when I later asked my primary as well as a PA they said their was little to no chance and no patient should be told they could go to sleep and not wake up with such odds. What really amazed me is that by staying there they thought I was better with my vitals being checked every 2 hours by some nurse instead of being checked every half hour by my parents throughout the night with all vitals and proper nourishment. Really quite the horrible business if you ask me.
Extremely horrible care and concern for civilians in the ER. The nurse was snotty as if she hated her job. I explained my pain at 8 out of 10 and have been waiting for 2-1/2 hours. The waiting room is slowly pilling up to the point that people are forced to stand. Last I heard, the staff was talking about Family Guy. Super great job, you miserable, unconcerned staff!
I was forced to stay in cpep for three days- the worst three days of my entire life. prior to my discharge, the staff made me notify my parents of this despite me being a legal adult- saying that i couldn’t leave until i did so. after being given two different medications on my first and last mornings there, i was finally given a THIRD medication that has had me unable to breathe properly and kept me in slight chest pain for the past two days. after getting out of that literal hell hole, myself and even my friends have noticed that i seem like a completely different person. i would give zero stars in a heartbeat if i could. save yourselves the inevitable trauma and go somewhere- ANYWHERE- else.
I have been here since 7/25/17. It is now 8/1/17. I have been told for 3 days that Im going home. Yet here I sit waiting yet another day. Its bad enough to be told youre going home and not. But its even worse when the staff is to cowardly to tell me themselves. They leave it for the innocent nurses to do. Communications in this place sucks
In June of 2018, I was in a car accident and I was a patient at ECMC. The nurses and staff were very nice and especially the staff in the rehabilitation unit were wonderful. A year later, I did a 5K walk in my area and finished 1st place in my age group. 1 year after breaking my pelvis in 2 places. I couldnt have done this without the care and support of the staff at ECMC. Thank you for all you do.Jennifer DeWolf Sheridan, NY
A poor older woman in aawheelchair from an old folks home was left in the emergency room by herself for 10 hours, urine all over the floor underneath her. Nobody bothered to clean it up, or even check if she needed anything. You could tell she had diabetes from the way the entirety of both of her legs were covered in sores. She was crying and begging for some kind of help and everyone was ignoring her.Is this a hospital or a mortuary? It was disgusting. If I could rate 0 out of 5 I without a doubt would.
This hospital is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to in my entire life. I went there yesterday and the nurses and doctors seemed uneducated, didnt seem to understand why each patient is there for service after having paper works and information from the ambulance (they havent seen me in over an hour to check on my concussion and give me an MRI after head pain and thought that one of my visitors were a doctor, but arent you suppose to know whos the doctor in an environment like that one?) This place is downhill just ghetto and bad. The nurses.. Im convinced theyre sniffing something.. They make side comments, are rude, and nasty. Doctors doesnt have common sense either, careless, doesnt speak to you about anything. Poor communication. I sat in a dirty room alone until my visitors came and with the pain I was going through and I had a terrible headache from a concussion that couldve been bad. I wouldve been dead if anything. Lucky enough my mom had to ask them about giving me an MRI because thats how much they care and dont care about their jobs of saving lives. Im going to just say this once.. I attend college to work in the medical field and I have the heart, dedication, and work hard to acknowledge what I have to do to work around all these standards... So if youre NOT up to taking responsibilies, being an adult and helping others then WHY work in the medical field? ECMC you have a long way coming from being a great hospital... Ill never in my entire life go to this hospital again.. Even if Im close to near death. It wasnt my first time but its definitely a lesson learnt and my last. Waste of time, money, and support.
I had an amazing experience with ECMC. Both pre-op and post-op. Dr. Anders in orthopedics was FANTASTIC. I’m only just over 2 weeks after shattering my arm and I’m practically back to normal. The incisions from surgery are so fine and thin I can tell he just did such a good job and I’ll have minimal scarring. The entire team deserve a kudos. Job well done and thank you Dr. Anders!
1 star. Only because I cannot give 0. Been trying to book an appointment since November 21st of 2017 based on a referral from my Primary Care Physician. Not only has my doctors office called directly, they have misplaced my faxed information on two separate occasions. I have been in contact every day looking for a follow up of when I can book my appointment because I have made zero progress. As a result, the woman on the phone from todays update call became very short and rude as if I was inconveniencing her daily. This Sunday is 2 months and I still have not been able to book an appointment because they have misplaced the information. Diabetic neuropathy is like hot needles shooting through your body. No big deal, no rush....
My child is there for help and instead they have held him for more than 24 hours without giving him any of his medication in a violitile environment. He has not even been permitted to sleep. This place is not only not helping people it is guilty of terrible negligence and abuse and should be shut down. They are causing people seeking help to further deteriorate. He has not even seen a doctor and ia being told he wont see a doctor or receive meds until at least tomorrow. One of those meds control his blood pressure! Another young man was in the backgroud screaming about not getting seizure meds and the only response he got is to sit down because the doctor didnt order them so he isnt getting them!!! Medical negligence at its finest!
Just overall slow service. The E.R department is horrible. I was there last night for a allergic reaction and their was a guy spitting and puking in a bag in the waiting area. The couple leaves getting impatient leaving the bag etc on the floor. Freaking disgusting. Then i ended up leaving because i was sitting out there for 5 hours and still wasnt seen. I come in the next day in er department and the same bag and everything is still sitting in the exact same spot vomit in it everything. I will not be coming back to this er. The doctor that seen me was a sweetheart though thank good but overall service was unbelievable. I dont recommend going here unless its a 911 sort of emergency.
I hold ECMC personally responsible for the neglect that they showed my brother, Robert Pete Gonzalez Jr, after his passing on 6/18/2018 when they knowingly left his body lay on a table after his autopsy for several days. His body was unable to be property prepared for an open casket viewing for his family robbing us all of our finally chance to gaze upon his face one last time. Their reasoning for this is because they say their facility has no refrigerated area to hold someone of my brothers body size. There are other hospitals within the area that are equipped with a refrigerated system large enough for this situation but the lack of professional and personal care for the deceased was not in their best interest it seems. Thanks to ECMC I will not get the chance to say goodbye to my only brother face to face. Their mission statement states, To provide every patient with the highest quality of care delivered with compassion. Where is the care and compassion in this?
I am not impressed. I went in to ER for upper abdominal pain but have a history of diverticulitis they didn’t listen to my concerns didn’t check anything in the gastrointestinal area but kept checking my gallbladder. Any doctor that doesn’t listen to the concerns of the patient isn’t a doctor at all. If I die from intestinal blockage because of their negligence it’s on their hands!
Terrible service i had to leave after being in the ER waiting for literally hours I didn’t receive proper care/did not see a doctor or was treated with respect last night whomever was at the desk in the emergency room last night around 6-10pm on Monday 4/22/19 gave us attitude and dismissed the patient I assisted. I was highly dissatisfied and disappointed being I’ve came to the ER myself and was never treated this way. It’s a shame that the people you have as the face of your hospital treat people like jokes/not taken seriously.
This is my thoughts......did a Ambulance take you there or did YOU choose to go there.? There other hospitals in Buffalo. My ER experience was unless your dying or have a heart issue in which case you were brought by ambulance youre going to have to wait....the ER nurse was great but the ER Doctors are over loaded.ECMC is the only hospital that deals with Detox and a rehab unit 3/4 of the people that were there were had some sort of Detox issue....they do what they can////////////
I have been to ECMC on 4 occasions now. Yes, sometimes there are long waits and Ive seen a couple of the staff get nasty with a few patients (most of those patients were unreasonable and a couple of them were dangerous as they were loudly yelling and breaking property.) Ive experienced a few sections on different floors in ECMC, however, I always received decent care during my times there. The staff were always good to me. I understand people have varying experiences at ECMC, but Im grateful ECMC is still around and that I received the help that I received
Wasnt sure what to expect, with its history of needing government bailouts and the neighborhood its in...but the Burn Unit ICU (the only one in the area) is outstanding! I couldnt believe the quality of care my father received there, and the staff couldnt have been more empathetic and competent. Couldnt recommend them more.
Very nice staff and dentist, honestly. And they do good dental work. But right now, after an extraction Im in almost suicidal pain because ECMC has a policy against true pain management and would only prescribe Advil. Now I know there are a lot of junkies in this town but FFS pain is pain and I will not deal with doctors to whom pain management is not a priority. Will end up going to ER for pain now.
Was recently hospitalized for hip replacement surgery.Edna, working with the anesthesiologists, was wonderful in reassuring me before surgery. Dr. Violante gave me gentle and comforting words, before performing his job, orthopedic surgery to replace my damaged right hip. He even put his initials on my hip, so as to prevent any mixup. When I awoke in recovery, I was in much pain. The doctors and nurses performed pain management flawlessly. My evening nurse (I was on the sixth floor) was a woman named Sara and her kind words and gentle touch made an very high pain time much more bearable. Within hours the rehab staff had me up and moving, showing me how to move properly. My day nurse was Abby who also made this tough period much better, with her professional and efficient abilities. I was released the next evening and myself and my lovely wife want to profoundly give thank yous to all of the awesome people who work at ECMC, from the cleaning staff, the food and dietary staff right up to nurses and doctors who made this trying and painful experience much much better. Whatever ECMC pays you men and women, you all deserve a raise! Was treated with dignity, respect, empathy and not babied but guided down the path to successful healing. Well done! My sincere gratitude. ..
Experiences with ER and CPEP.ER was slow as ERs always are but staff were kind and helpful. Staff members treated everyone, from forgetful drunks to those under arrest with compassion and professionalism.CPEP was slow, but staff was neither kind nor helpful. Lack of compassion, kindness, or understanding is rampant, from technicians and security personnel up through psychologists. If you have a real issue and are in an acute state of crisis that requires mental health services you will not receive help here. You will not receive help here. You will be treated like an inmate, no one will tell you exactly where you are in the process, and you will have more anxiety from being there than when you came in. If you must go here, please consider these suggestions:- If you dont have the phone number of someone you trust memorized, write it on your skin so you can stay in contact with someone. You wont have access to anything you bring with you until you are released.- Your first evaluation is an interrogation. Dont let them scare you, dont let them intimidate you, slow down and speak your truth.- Your nurse would rather eat Paulas Donuts in the glass cage. Make him/her come out and address your needs.- The Patient Bill of Rights is attached to the wall in CPEP waiting room. Read it repeatedly and assert your rights as needed.Real help is out there, I promise you that, but it is not here. Stay strong and get to the people who can help. People I love have had success with:Best Self Behavioral Health - locations all over cityCommunity Concern - Derby and Hamburg
Dont go there unless youre dying. Specialist wont return your call most likely. Theyre easy to push medicine(bandaid) and slow to fix the root problem. Been dealing with herniated disc in my neck. Seeing Dr. Steigman. He told me to go to special kind of physical therapy so I did. It did nothing.... I actually fixed my torn rotator cup by watching youtube videos... of real specialist who mock out doctors who send their patients to physical therapy for the long haul. Needless to say my torn rotator was fixed by me and research. But now left with a bulge area in my neck region(around c7) and of course Dr. Steigman never returns my calls. Quick to prescribe pain medicine. But slow to do anything for the actual recovery. One thing I learned through this car accident.... dont always trust doctors alone. After all look at the pain killer epidemic. Do lots of research on your own. And dont be afraid to complain our bodies are the highest investments we have. I KNOW FOR A FACT IF I DONT GET A CALL BACK FROM STEIGMAN NEXT WEEK ILL BE CONTACTING PLENTY OF PLACES TO GET THINGS ROLLING. Not sure if its the ladies behind the counter not telling him or him just being lazy.
My brother has been at ECMC for three weeks. I visited him on Friday, April 24th around 5:00 pm on the 10th floor, room 1006. When I arrived he was sleeping so I sort of walked around waiting for him to wake up. I then saw the Dietary cart down the hall and figured i would walk in when they brought him his dinner. When she put the tray down, next to the tray on the over bed table was a clear medicine cup with pills in it.I then asked him if he should be taking these pills. He didnt know anything about the pills so I proceeded to leave the room with them and walk down to ask his nurse about them. The nurse didnt seem too concerned just said, Those must have been on his tray since before he went down for dialysis. I then asked him if he is supposed to keep track of what medicine my brother is taking and when he gets them. I wasnt given a clear answer but it looks like some back tracking was done. All of a sudden the nurse who didnt seem very concerned was very interested in my brothers care. He then proceeded to make sure he now got the medication he was supposed to get and then told me there were certain pills he wasnt supposed to get because he went down for dialysis. I am not sure of the protocol for giving medication but I think this is unacceptable. I have been in the room many times and all of the nurses scan his bracelet and then tell him what medicine he is taking and what it is for. I have now left a message on the Patient Advocate line over the weekend and again yesterday. I also left a message for the Unit Manager and no return calls. I need a call back and need an answer to all of my questions. I am leaving this review on the website in hopes that someone will call me back. Thank you.
The surgical unit staff in ortho was great. Everyone there was polite and kept communication open between the staff and I. I did not have one step that was not explained. The staff on the 6th floor was very kind. I have to give lots of credit for a job well done to rn Shawn. He was very kind and patient. The staff on the 6th floor were great all the way around. From my first nurse Cathy, to Shawn then I think his name was Tim. Pt and ot were very good at giving tips on how to get around after discharge. Monica the discharge planner was very knowledgeable and helpful. All the way around great job to all. Now if the er can follow suit.
Most disrespectful secretary I have ever had an encounter with. Hung up on me before o received her name. My fiance has been trying to pay a bill with this hospital for a month now even though he had insurance at the time of service he was still charged, the bill is sitting on his credit report yet no one can find the account. Never had to work so hard at paying a bill in my life. Just choose a different hospital.
Worst experience ever, waited 3 hours so far with a sick stomach and pain through out my body and watched several people come into the emergency waiting room and get a room way before any of the people who’ve been here for hours have. Someone could be seriously ill and end up dying in here because they have to wait 6 hours to get a room. Unfair, horrible waiting time, workers are constantly just sitting around talking instead of working when people are hurt, sick and maybe even dying. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone not even people who don’t have insurance since they help with insurance.
Erie County Medical Center also known as ECMC deserves No stars, (unfortunately google doesnt allow 0 stars). As an educated well traveled cultured woman, the services and care at this facility in the Pysch ward is very questionable. The debate can be that no one enjoys going to seek mental care, however that point of view can be ruled out in this case scenerio. My daughter was feeling mentally ill to say it gently and she seeked help voluntarily. My daughter experienced possibly more trauma than care by staff under doctors care the refusal of involvement of supportive family members. The staff at ECMC need immediate training courses on empathy and cultural diversity. With these trainings can allow staff to educate and inform supportive families (within HIPPA guidelines) to assist indiviuals with sensitive mental health issues so that treatment and care can help and assist individals with mental health to overcome their illness successfully, so that live can resume as normal as can be. I dont want to pull out the race card but ECMC needs to understand that individuals come to their facilty to seek human care and the staff beliefs on people of color should stay in the parking lot as they enter the building to conduct their duties. I cant blame the staff when the higher officials of this facilty conducts and cultivates the culture of this ECMC, my message to you is that Black Lives do Matter, its 2017 we all bleed and have the same biological organs. To conclude I strongly believe that Training needs to be addressed at this Erie County Medical Center. Creating a beautiful looking facility is great, but the quality of care Should be thee utmost Priority and Importance at Erie County Medical Center.
How can one of the largest area hospitals not properly care for a young man that has passed so to allow his family a proper goodbye. The excuse that they could not care properly for a man his size is unacceptable, Fonda way or transport him to a facility that can. Expedite the process for him to be cared for in a funeral home setting or communicate these issues with a family ahead of time. But everything is better in hindsite right? If no stars were possible that’s what this review would have. Absolutely appalling treatment.
If you have a child and they need mental health help. They will not help you here. The problem better be acute and displayed in front of them because they dont care if the cops witnessed unsafe harm to self or others, THEY have to see it. So you wasted 12 hours to be told to go home with your unstable child. They suck. Brylin is no different. Go to another county. They will help your child. 0 stars for wasting my time 1 star for sandwiches. Lawsuits WILL solve this.
Horrible place, my family member has went to this hospital many times looking for psychiatric help and help with susbstance abuse and everytime is denied. WHY?? NY is suppose to be fighting a drug epidemic but are doing nothing to help someone who is reaching out for the help. The family member was told to go to a impacient rehab( which doesnt except the insurance that they have) so now what?? This family member is suicidal and this hospital doesnt seem to care. Thanks for nothing, would never send anyone here!!!!
As a former nursing agency recruiter and staffing manager to most Buffalo Area hospitals, clinics, facilities, etc..I never dealt with ECMC until I personally needed their services. My Rehabilitation Neurologist only wanted me in Physical Therapy at ECMC..there was no other choice! I cannot say enough good about mt physical therapist and all the staff that I have met and spoken with including conversations with several drs and nurses that I met while at the hospital! I personally from what I did for a living look for and at things a bit closer than the average person. And due to the tv health care segs I did for several years to help people in different situations in everyday healthcare and health issues I tend to watch closely everything!! I WANT TO THANK ECMC for helping me when I really needed them and their services! I highly recommend them! :-)
Never come here they never have pain medicine in stock, nurses never come when you call for help, its literally the worst hospital in buffalo ny, nurses make up lies about what patients do or are doing. Never have amy as a nurse on the 8th floor if you come here, it really is a bad hospital i would not recommend it to anybody.
MY GRANDMOTHER WENT TO ECMC CENTER FOR DENTAL CARE THIS MORNING THE WHITE LADY WAS BEING VERY DISREPECTFUL AND SNITCHING THE ID AWAY FROM MY GRANDMOTHER BEING VERY RUDE BUT WHEN THE LADY WAS TALKING TO THE WHITE PERSON SHE WAS BEING NICE REALLY DONT LIKE HOW THE PEOPLE AT THE DESK ARE VERY RUDE AND UNKIND TO BLACK PEOPLE AT ALL!!!
Ecmc took my friend after he passed away for an autopsy and left his body out after for 3 days, robbing his family of a proper burial! Their excuse was they didnt have a big enough cooler for his body. They took no accountability for this mistake. They dont follow their mission statement- to provide every patient the highest quality of care delivered with compassion. Their core values of excellence in all areas was not meet by any means. They abused this mans corpse with no compassion for their family.
I can not believe it I took a friend to the oral sy area for dental they had no record no x-rays but they did have a referal. Know I have to go back to the see the dentist who is right next door to the area for other consulation Really this is stupid. The worst part two other people the x-rays where lost too. If you need help do not call them. Three people in one setting really. If x-rays are send and no department is on it. Why not look and see what dept it may go to. I can tell a set of teeth from a foot just saying.
I love the morale, I was taken in immediately and they tried to make me as comfortable as possible and even though I was discharged a little before the last blood lab results came back the doctor called me to let me know I did in fact have the flu. Would recommend to anyone
Due to negligence on behalf of ECMC of Buffalo, NY a loved one of so many who passed away on the 18th can not be properly embalmed nor viewed. The family and friends of Robert Pete Gonzalez Jr. will never be given the opportunity to have a proper goodbye and all our hearts are shattered. ECMC should have notified the family or transported Juni to a facility that could have accommodated based on the situation. Instead ECMC showed no compassion as they let his body lay in a room for 3 consecutive days without being preserved by a cooler. ECMC needs to accept the bad reviews just as they accept the good ones! They need to be held accountable for the negligence and answer this mourning family!
Once you enter, youll never get out. I was in the psychiatric ward. They do not allow visitors in. People who needed to get out quickly for family, pets or work were trapped there even if they checked themselves in. The phone was broken. They talk about medical information right in the open.
The worst place on earth! Want to climb a mountain? Find support, don’t become a zombie. Four years later, this is still the worst and most traumatic experience of my life. When friends in residency say it is their goal not to end up there themselves, you know it’s true.
The ECMC psychiatric ward is three meals away from looking like season 2 Horror Story ward. The doctors over prescribe the meds that causes insurance companys to drop the medication and starts a investigation of abuse. I can go on and on,but that whole hospital is under investigation. There are really 2 good doctors on this ward. The rest..... Well just stay away from ecmc.
I dont Like the emergency department , the one male or lady I couldnt Really identify the gender but was very rude towards me , I had a lot of serious problems going on with me and he told me he’s or she is not holding me hostage and that I can Leave , and yes I left so if I do fall or hit my head or anything because it hurts to walk and I can Hold my weight down? Or if my headaches become more severe OR IF I still don’t eat in these next few days , first ppl I will Blame is ECMC
The CPEP program is heartless and cruel. The experience that my friend just endured yesterday was like stepping into the movie one flew over the cuckoos nest. The poor girl needed help and they treated her as if she was a criminal. The nurses were cruel to her and should be ashamed of themselves for being inhuman. This is an example of mental health care at its worse!!!
Sat here waiting over 3 hours for an appointment at 2 pm and currently am still waiting. The people at the front desk were eating food and didn’t really check what they were doing. The doctors left for lunch as patients sat here in the waiting room for a simple consultation. This is very irritating
Well, I went to Erie County Medical Center to be thoroughly evaluated by the trained professional in the Behavior unit ..Everything went exceptional well until while on the Behaviour unit,I see one of male patient being verbally abused ..I tried to calm him but as I said I was being supportive ..At one point, some of the staff started to ignore me ..and refuse any of request for water and drinks..Over an period of an couple of hours..I was extremely thirsty...I slowly started having high blood pressure up to 200..I was experiencing acid reflux flare up in which my esophagus started to close cutting off oxygen to my brain..then I feel to the ground face down ..The staff look on at me..even telling me to get up....I agreed because earlier that day I was given unknown medications
I came to ECME in 1991 on a Helicopter in massive pieces I was hit head on at 100mph. Dr. Weinstein save my life and Dr. Bone put me back together it took 4 years but it worked. I was 30 at the time and I was able to raise my 2yr old to manhood and my daughter to adulthood. I will forever be grateful for this hospital and Dr. Larry Bone. Shelley Lorber
Very unprofessional rude , man told me if i didnt want to get attended that he will go take care of another patient while im open wound bleeding ... then have me waiting in a room for 45 mins for a xray and ac is on in November super cold ask for a blanket and tell me no because imGoing for xrays just to wait another hour in a half before going for xrays
CPEP is a horrible place none of the nurses care about you Dr. Matthew Ruggieri doesnt even give you a chance to explain to him whats wrong he likes to tell be what the thoughts are he needs to learn how to actually care I feel like he only cares about money and thats not right
Sooo I been here for almost a month already for my boyfriend because he got into a serious accident where he was internally bleeding after only the 5th day of being in trauma care they told me and his mother he was not mentally and physically prepared to go upstairs and come to find out we get a call later that same day that he was MOVED UPSTAIRS to where he was placed in a room and later that night went unconscious because he couldn’t BREATH properly and had to get rushed back down to trauma and when we asked for an explanation to has of why this happened even though we all knew he wasn’t ready it was just for them to feel stupid they couldn’t directly tell us a straight forward answer because they knew they were WRONG all because they wanted to rush him into a different unit to make some “room” it was just insulting and just disrespectful for most of the time being it’s just been a hassle with specific nurses to care for his needs very disappointing
Terrible place to be if you need help for mental health I highly recommend not to go there for help they stick you in a room with all different people very dangerous the staff is awfull they lie to the patients and very mean to these people who are there for help. gave it one star but It doesnt even deserve that.Stay away
Staff there are so rude and ignorant. I suggested you go some where else for medical attention because they will not help you. this place is full of retarded low educated doctors. The place is full with crackheads begging you for money in side the hospital and out side of the hospital
This place is a freaking joke Ive showed up there twice and they give you an IV and send you on your way never ever go here unless there is no other option their addiction and recovery is worthless not to mention the professional service from residents and attendings are garbage
On December 5, 2019, I took my husband to the ECMC emergency room, I parked my vehicle in the disabled area, I handed the keys to the young man from Vallet parking (because they ask for them) at about two hours I left and no I saw my vehicle in the parking lot and asked why they had taken it out and the young man told me they were hospital rules, but they had put another vehicle that didnt even have a disabled card, I claimed the young man and he told me that vehicle It was theirs. I looked for the supervisors number and they gave me his name (Jeff) I talked to him and he didnt solve anything. To sink the service further, when I left the hospital at 1 in the morning, there was another person waiting for someone from the Vallet parking lot who will look for his car in 20 minutes, then I asked in the emergency room if they could call someone and he replied that the cars were moving, another young woman arrived who had been waiting for an hour, we had to remove the keys from the tablet and find our cars by ourselves. The service is the worst Ive seen. I do not recommend it.

2022-06-16Been in the waiting room now for over 7 hours and still havent been seen. I rolled a dump truck at work.. have a head injury and possibly bruised ribs.. I understand they cant do anything for my ribs, but no concussion protocol? staff at the desk are very unhelpful.. they tell everyone they dont know anything, and that its out of their control.. but the nurses in triage have been very nice and helpful!

2022-03-18Katie was AMAZING in the ER and the Triage nurse - I did not get her name but what wonderful people. Although we couldnt get the help we needed AT that time..They treated my son and myself with care and concern. I did not just feel like just one more person. Thank you both for just giving some listening ear even with a million others in need as well.

2022-05-03No one wants to talk to you except the police and security who are everywhere. Staff are Extremely rude all around, the only people who aren’t rude are those who tell you they don’t know anything and can’t help. Not unlike a prison now that I think about it. That would be fine if they had any skills, but Doctors are nonexistent or have no clue. Completely oblivious to Care. Seems they just have a shift rotation for telling people nothing. The Jonah Center is a joke now, after its founder passed away. The best doctor i met here told me she’s actually from Roswell filling in for the day.

2022-05-13Called 3 days in a row to schedule an emergency appointment for wisdom tooth removal, was told the first 2 days that I need to call at 8am to make an appointment, well its 8:51 AM and Ive been on hold for 50 minutes. A perfect example of our flawed healthcare. Gotta love hearing the same every 5 seconds while my mouth cries out in agony. If I die from septic shock from this infection, one of you please make a law suit against them for this, as I will likely die long before they take me off hold or allow me to schedule an appointment.

2022-06-14Waited on hold for thirty minutes with a dental emergency, only to be spoken to rudely and told to call the dentist I saw initially. This dentist did not take my insurance which was why I was calling ECMC Dental. She completely dismissed me and my emergency and then hung up on me. Great patient care! I feel sorry for anyone who is in need of help that goes to this clinic.

2022-02-09Mixed bag going there. My ER visits were okay. Anything else I dealt with was totally under the radar or NOT what would be expected of a regional hospital. Infectious disease, very incomplete of flawed analysis, limited testing, and referred back to primary. Not saying every department is as unconcerned, first impressions last and anyone who deals with them probably wont want to go back. Often they dont return calls. Avoid if possible.

2022-03-14Worst dental department by far in buffalo ny. You call early and they tell you that you didnt call early enough and that you cant make an appointment unless your a patient. Then turn around with the same breath and tell you to call back tomorrow to book an appointment. Very rude and unprofessional. Your best bet if youre looking for a dentist asap is somewhere else. They also dont answer their phone 9 times out of ten and when they finally do they hang up on you after they pick up. Dont even get me started on the emergency room and their staff. A complete joke.

2022-06-07Came to the ER tonight at 9pm. I’m a stage 3 triple negative breast cancer patient in active treatment having a COVID paxlovid rebound. My oncologist from Roswell told me to come here because he believes I have COVID pneumonia. I have been in the waiting room for 5 hours and still have yet to be seen by a doctor. The discomfort is horrendous. I can’t believe they would let someone who is already fighting for their life wait so long when they’re in such pain and hurting. Don’t waste your time by coming here. The crackheads will probably be seen before most people. Disgusting.

2022-03-12This is the most awful hospital that I have ever visited in my life. I went in before I was on hospice with extreme leg swelling to the point I couldnt even walk and Edima in my abdominal region for stage 5 liver failure and pancreatic issues, as well as a swollen spleen. A month and a half later I went into a coma due to inadequate testing for a GI bleed. They really need to put cameras and record in nurses region as well. After my parentisus in the ER I was admitted to the 8th floor for 5 days. It was a nightmare. They should really hire nurses with a patient bedside manner. I simply asked for a pain med like toroidal and was denied that. I received a gown change once, no inspection or wound change AT ALL, no option for a shower or getting cleaned up. Once the nurse with the wrap on her head who is white changed my bed pad and loudly complained about it. On top of that they were very rude and judgemental, I would not even go there again if I was dying. They made loud comments about my hair not being brushed and the condition of my teeth, which need work on but even the specialist dentist in Rochester that I had seen said because of my risk of having a bleeding episode they couldnt do my dental work. If I could give a review of negative a million I would. My advice is choose any other hospital besides ECMC. They were my main decision to get on hospice at 32 years old. Also more advice, these nurses kept making very loud noises when I was simply trying to sleep or eat a meal. If you have sensitive hearing

2022-03-19Was stuck at this hospital for around 12 hours and spent most of the time in cpep. when i got there, the conditions were absolutely unsanitary and disgusting. patients were sleeping on the ground because of the lack of beds and couches. the floor was clearly rarely cleaned because of the amount of dirt and crumbs encrusted into it in certain areas. most of staff acted incredibly insensitive, unprofessional, and were obviously trained poorly. multiple patients stated nurses forgot to give them their meds. the only meals they have are cereal and processed lunch meat sandwiches. the conditions here are not something any human should have to live in, and i don’t understand how this facility hasn’t been shut down yet. if we were allowed to keep our phones, i would’ve taken pictures of how ridiculous the conditions were.
