Had an amazing experience here! The service is quick, attentive, and friendly. The atmosphere is so nice as well.We ordered the pork buns and the Aka Tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious! The broth, toppings, and pork were all perfect — it’s obvious that these chefs are very skilled. Their chili oil is made in house and it was so flavorful.I’ve had ramen all over Long Island and in NYC and this definitely takes the top spot. I highly recommend this place and wish them a lot of success!
Today was my 6th time dining at eShin and was just as good as the first. Shared the salmon nuoc Cham and the toro buns (my personal fav, pic attached) for starters, both are rich with flavor and super fresh! For entree, I had the Mu which is by far the best noodles around, the broth is nothing like I’ve ever had before. The service is great and the prices are super reasonable. Overall great experience, can’t wait to be back.
I ordered Tonkotsu ramen. The soup is very tasty and fragrant. It is delicately prepared and nice presented. Noodle bowl is cool, so is the store. Noodles are fine. Pork belly is nicely cooked to the right degree. Good eggs, bean sprouts and onions. This is one of the best ramen I had in Stony Brook. The raw fish appetizers are good too, but not as surprising as the ramen.
I have gone to this restaurant 3 times now and it does not disappoint. Arguably in my opinion the best noodle bar restaurant on Long Island. Fantastic food and excellent service. Very nice setting as well. Menu is changed after certain time. Delicious new ramens every time! Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area!—> @ravenous-raph.com
Delicious and amazing presentation from the chefs. The Kona is one of my favorites from the cold appetizers as well as the toro buns. The toro buns come with a crispy sweet bun on the bottom and the toro melts in your mouth. The caviar adds a great umami flavor over all. The Kona comes with brown butter soy vinegar and a Thai chili on the top. Not only do these food taste good, but it also feels healthy :)
Ordered 3 different ramen type dishes. The food was carefully prepared and presented artfully. One of the dishes was a bit spicy but it was just enough heat. Ordered Tofu appetizer that was very small but I highly recommend it.The restaurant was a bit different from most of the other ramen places in the area
Randomly drove by saw this place and decided to stop in. Was extremely happily surprised. Delicious food! I just wish they had hot green tea. The interior is clean and crisp with wooden booths and an open air kitchen. The dishware was also very aesthetically pleasing and perfectly complimented the dishes displayed on them! Will come back to try the homemade tofu.
This place is awesome. The food is outstanding and you can tell that every ingredient used to prepare each dish is high quality and precisely selected. If you have yet to try this place out, definitely put it on your list! I’ve eaten at this restaurant countless times and the staff is very attentive and friendly. I am usually the type of person who is indecisive to what I want to eat during the day, but ever since this restaurant opened up it’s honestly a no brainer. I LOVE the Mu and it’s not often that you can get your hands on some wagyu brisket for this price. Pricing is extremely reasonable and if this restaurant was located in Manhattan, the cost for each dish would easily become double the price or more. The broth is prepared for 10 hours and you can definitely tell that they do not cut any corners. I have never been dissatisfied with any of my experiences here and the crew always made sure my needs were met. The appetizers are DELICIOUS and I included a picture of their Toro buns for reference. I wish I took more pictures of my main courses, but I could not help myself and immediately started eating. Fantastic place and I’m so glad that it’s is so close to Stony Brook University.
This place literally has the best food I’ve ever eaten PERIOD. As a vegetarian, the Tan Tan offers a pleasurable blend of flavors that truly exceeded my expectations upon a first read of the menu. Easily an 11/10 and the service that this establishment provides is top tier. The staff provide a comfortable experience to dine in and present themselves very professionally. I’m looking forward to becoming a regular here
I’ve had Iron Ramen, Domo, and Ichi Sushi Ramen; eShin is above all three of those. I ordered the chicken wings and the Mu ramen. The chicken wings were very juicy and crispy but the sauce didn’t compliment the wings; the wings were delicious on their own. The ramen soup was very creamy and not too salty. The noodles had a good bite and the brisket was tender.
Tried out a brand new place. eShin Noodle Bar in Stony Brook. Right by Druthers Coffee on North Country Road. My mini me loves ramen and got the Tori Dashi. She’s plain so only got noodles, broth, chicken and a soft boiled soy egg. She said it was the best ramen she has very had. I got the Mu. It was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. The waygu brisket was tender and full of flavor. The slivers of roasted garlic were so yummy. The broth had so much flavor. Slightly spicy. Place was beautiful and staff was so friendly.
Went to eShin for the first time and had an absolutely amazing experience, got pork buns, sake, and the dipping ramen while i was there and everything i had was top notch.Ive never had a dipping ramen before so that was a unique experience and something I thoroughly enjoyed!I also got the chance to try one of their desserts which was some sort of cheese (maybe marscapone?) in a blueberry sauce and i believe some sort of wine perhaps? I was hesitant at first but it, just like the rest of the food, was amazing.Im excited to go back and and try their other food! I wish i had remembered to take more pictures of the food but i got caught up in the experience so all i have is the menu and the sake!
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. We got takeout from them and both got the Mu and Chicken wings. It was not good. None of it. The fried chicken tasted fishy for some reason, they gave us a minuscule amount of sauce for a bunch of wings, the broth tasted funky, and on top of it all my boyfriend found a chunk of aluminum foil in his ramen. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all I don’t know how it gets so many good reviews.
About time this area gets some quality Ramen, Ive settled long enough. I got it to go, I ordered The Mu my wife ordered the Tori Dashi, and the cauliflower appetizer. We both agreed this is the best bowl of ramen we have ever had. Not only did it taste good but the to go containers were presented beautifully. The cauliflower was soggy but sooo tasty, Im sure alot crispier if eaten there which will be soon.
What an absolute hidden gem. I love ramen and so have visited a ton of ramen places ranging from Japan to a place in Paris that had a Michelin rating. Yet this ramen bar is one of the most impressive. For me what really made the experience fantastic were a couple things. First, there was surprisingly no line. We showed up right around opening time and noticed that up until about an hour after opening time, there was no line. This was on a weekend too! The place itself was very clean, new and well decorated, including the bathroom. Second, the appetizers were phenomenal. We tried a bunch of their appetizers and it definitely matched the backgrounds of the chefs, who are chefs that trained at Michelin-star restaurants in NYC. The quality of the appetizers was so great that it really felt like a slice of upscale NYC without the crowds and absolutely ridiculous prices (although I wouldnt say that the prices for the appetizers were cheap, it definitely felt more reasonable than what youd have to pay in NYC). The drinks were also nothing Id ever experienced before. My bf and I each ordered a mocktail and I kept sipping from both, unable to decide which was better. They had very unique flavors. I never really order drinks in restaurants because Im rarely wowed by them, but I absolutely miss those two drinks and would order it again if I go back. Lastly, the ramen itself had a good portion and was delicious. The noodle, topping, and soup had great quality. The egg was cooked perfectly with just the right texture. I am highly impressed by eShin Noodle Bar and love that I dont have to travel into NYC to get such an amazing food experience.
I thought I was going in for some quick noodles n then dipping. The two ladies there quickly greeted me. Asked me if I had any allergies before they gave me a menu, and pulled my seat out and sat me down. Super friendly and makes you feel at home. I sat at the bar where I could see everything going on behind the scenes and I can’t say one bad thing about the staff and the cleanliness. The lady helped me pick my ramen choice since I couldn’t understand what the menu had said & it was delicious. My food came out quick and fresh. 100% coming here again. Best ramen place on the island.
Great Green Tea based Mocktails, Vegan options including some appetizers and a lovely mushroom confete roll in place of the regular sushi salmon roll, that was out of this world fantastic! Oh, and yes, Vegan Ramen soup bowls, too. Im heading back here soon, everything was awesome and expertly prepared!
Went with a friend for the first time, and it was great! We got seated straightaway, good service, good food. Went the second time…called in beforehand to see how busy the place was because I was in a time crunch. They said, no, not busy. I asked if they were anticipating the place getting busy in about 20 mins or so. Was told, no, but they could save a table for me. Ok, great. Get there, two of their four tables/booths are empty, am told the wait will be 15 mins (was with 2 other people). Then, a group gets there who say they had a reservation. Just don’t be nice and say you will save a table without taking my name down and phone number. Staff seemed pretty forgetful second time around. Too bad because the food is great.
The question of where to find the best ramen on Long Island is solved! Ive now had items from the current (new) menu and the previous one and theyre all fantastic. The staff is friendly and and the service is outstanding. Its hard to find food and service this good on LI and Im extremely grateful. Will continue to come back!
I went here for the first time today with my son and his girlfriend. The food was great and the service, outstanding. I’ve worked in hospitality for over 35 years and this place did not disappoint. My son begged me to try the salmon appetizer and I’m glad I listened. I don’t eat raw fish and after trying some of the other dishes, I knew this was the place to give it a shot. The presentation matched the taste. Very rare to find a place of this quality for the price. Highly recommend!
This is one of the best secret little restaurants in Stony Brook!! This place is honestly so incredible. We started with the pork buns and octopus. Both came out steaming hot and absolutely perfect. We then had the shin ramen which also came out super hot. The taste could not be more spot on and is the perfect umami flavor bomb. We will def be back!!!
I had been looking forward to try eShin. I placed a delivery order of Mu with an egg and chicken wings. The Mu was delicious with a rich flavorful broth and melt in your mouth Waygu. I would definitely order it again. The chicken wing meat was moist and the batter was crispy, but bland. There was no aioli dipping sauce as was mentioned in the online menu. That was a little disappointing. The dipping sauce probably would have made a difference. The appetizer included 5 plump wings for $12. Not sure if I will order this again.Overall, I enjoyed my order and look forward to trying more of eShins offerings.
Simply incredible! This is a must try if you’re in the area, even if you’re not , take the ride ! The food is perfectly crafted , plated and bursting with so much flavor. The ramen is perfectly cooked , with a great selection of broths and additions. I have been to Eshin several times , and each time is better than the next. The staff is attentive , personable and professional. The owner/chef Kai is a master at his craft.
Amazing food and staff. I came here a few times since I go to university nearby. We had excellent appetizers and the ramen was great. The waiter I think his name was Alan..? helped us every time, ask for him if hes there because he really makes sure youre treated comfortably.*Hes also a buff asian dude but at the same time hes REALLY handsome and cute haha*
Fast service: they told us 30 minute wait time, but called us back in 15 minutes. The tables and bathroom were both clean. The waitress was very funny and accommodating. The vegetarian Ramen option was very good as well and the one appetizer with octopus was to die for. Im very glad to have come here for a night out with friends.
Just have to give a shout out to this new little gem! Great restaurant! Thank you to the owner Kai, and his staff, who are super accommodating, warm, friendly, while working out the kinks of any new restaurant. The food is a complex flavor bomb explosion in your mouth! Truly worth the trip to Stony Brook. We are finally getting some decent International food in this neck of the woods. We will definitely be back! Thank you Kai for the sample of pork buns, to pair with our wine. Was delish! Go dine here! Yummy! 😋
Visited this place on a Friday night - around 7pm and it was a 15 minute wait. But the five star reviews convinced me and my wife that we should wait a bit — and it is totally worth it. We ordered a passion fruit based tea mocktail, fried wings and toro buns as appetizers, and two ramen, tori dashi and wagyu brisket. My wife and I could taste the craftsmanship in those dishes that the chef tried to deliver. These are some innovative ramen that you can not taste in random ramen restaurants. Not only on the ramens, but also those appetizers and beverages. Through chatting with the owner briefly, the head chef and manager are actually previously hired by one of the most renowned ramen restaurants in Manhattan and just opened their own business months ago. So glad we stopped by this place and would definitely recommend this to all other friends.
The competition is gonna have a tough time I’ll tell ya that. This places goes for the highest possible quality. Their smaller menu is focused and perfected. I got the Mu ramen with the Wagyu and also a bunch of other starters to sample.Top quality noodles and top quality everything. All of it was incredible.
GO EAT HERE. We tried the Nouc Cham, Tan Tan and Mu ramen. We live further east and I am always disappointed by the lack of variety in Asian cuisine. eShin was a pleasant surprise discovered through a quick Google search.Super clean, inviting and great food. Kai (hope I spelled it correctly), the owner and chef came to chat with us and gave us some advice to sample all the ingredients first before mixing it together so you can really taste all the flavors. Complex flavor profile and absolutely delicious.Ask for a small side of the pickled jalapeños.
The Michelin star training really shows. Really enjoyed the ramen here and they knocked it out of the park, particularly for Long Island standards - very impressed. Had the tuna Bao which I recommend but it’s more like cracker style - crisped up bao with an amazing tuna topping. The dessert was also delicious incorporating yuzu and blueberry. Yum!
This place is always delicious. Toro buns. Pork buns. Tofu. Cauliflower. The ramen! We love the spicy pork and the chicken the most. Add the egg! And the desserts are really creative and tasty. Add to that an owner and staff who are super welcoming - pretty much perfect!
Wanted something different for my almost 6th decade birthday party. Invited my dear friends to join me and my family. Kai and Nancy took care of our every need. They have a small wine list, but the wines offer the perfect pairing to some very special food. Kai is from hong kong and worked at Momofuku in NYC. The space is small but elegant. And the food was WOW. We had all the appetizers on the right side of the menu. Cauliflower, pork buns and wings were so good. The broth in the Ramen … really special, all of them so different. Love beef broth but the vegetarian ramen was crazy good. Thank you Kai and Nancy for making my night so very special.
Every aspect of our experience was executed masterfully. Their streamlined menu showcases beautiful plates of delicious food, and their team brings warm hospitality to compliment the gorgeous interior. I have every intention of returning weekly for a little bit of everything.
What a gem! We had an incredible dinner here sharing Salmon Nuoc Cham, Toro Buns, Togarashi Nasu and Matt’s vegan Ramen. The restaurant is super cute inside with booths and bar seating! Our hostess Serena was so nice and helpful. Service was very fast! Every dish was well executed with medley of flavors! I had the Yuzu mocktail. Smoked rosemary was so unique. We left so satisfied. Can’t wait to come back and try other apps and ramen.

2022-01-10Amazing place for ramen. Amazing food and service quality. Usually when it comes to ramen, one of the big three aspects (toppings, noodles broth) will be bad while the other two are good. This place had EVERYTHING. Wonderfully deep broth, well textured noodles and great toppings. Highly recommend the course meal they have. Its pricey ($40 /person) but definitely worth it. As an added bonus, the bathroom is extremely well kept!

2022-05-10Recommendation: Mu and Aka Tonkotsu Ramen + soft boiled soy sauce marinated eggs (must add), eshin chili oil.A lovely ramen place near Stony Brook. The restaurant located next to he railway station. The kitchen closes at 9 p.m.I ordered mocktail Jinger Yuzu but they ran out of ginger juice, so I switched to Yuzu Spice. Personally I dont like it due to the strong smoking taste and smell from smoking rosemary. I will try Jinger Yuzu next time. For the appetizer we ordered chicken wings and toro buns. The sauce they provide for chicken wings is not my type so I had it plain. For toro buns, probably the waiter did not hear it. When we realized that the kitchen is already closed. Will try next time. For the ramen, surprisingly great! I came here because of the almost 5 star rating on Yelp and it does fail me. Usually ramen will be a bit salty for me but this place is right of the salt level. My friend complained about the too much peppers in the soup but I have no problem with it as a pepper lover LOL I also like the rich flavors added by sliced pickled green peppers. For spice lovers, please try the eshin chili oil.For the dessert, it has red bean paste, matcha pudding, and light cream on the top. The light cream is not sweet so it will taste better if you can mixe them at the very beginning.Overall service is great except that we sit here for some minutes at the very beginning. Two customers came after us and were passed with menu immediately once they get seated. Besides, one appetizer order is missed. Other than these, I have no complaints.

2022-04-02Today my craving took me to eShin. After a battery of medical tests the past few days a good bowl of Ramen was a good reward.Eshin noodle bar did not disappoint. I dined by myself today. They have a bar area where you can enjoy your meal by yourself which i enjoy sometimes.Todays visit I was greeted by a very bubbly server Kim and very attentive and helpful.I ordered their Yaki Ebi for hot starter and Tuna Battera for the cold appetizer. For both appetizers i give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The Yaki ebi is a mix of salty and crunchy and is off set by the refreshing side salad of cabbage with some pickled cucumber. The tuna Battera was reminiscent of our fresh tuna in the Philippines and the vinegrette that was drizzled yummy. For my Ramen i tried their Shiro Tonkotsu it was so filling barely finished my serving. The pork broth was so good especially for a rainy day.Glad to have a ramen place close to home a 10 to 15 minutes drive from home.A must try place when in Stonybrook area.

2022-06-07Overall such a great experience. The staff was super friendly (and we had a big party of 8) and they took care of us so well. The ramen and all the appetizers we got were all delicious. Unfortunately I dont have pictures of the appetizers because they were so good we devoured them. I got the Mu Ramen with an egg and as the picture shows, it looked and tasted great! There was nothing left after the picture was taken. 5/5 would definitely go again! I suggest trying the pork buns!

2022-03-26The food is delicious 😋 and reasonably priced for entree portions. The waitress was a little rude, when I asked what the ingredient on the menu was she didnt know and also acted like I offended her by asking. She also forgot to put an order in which caused us to wait longer, which was fine, but then told us we had to leave for people coming in for a reservation even though there were empty tables and we were still finishing our food and drinks...

2022-02-25This is how a Noodle Bar Should be. Great Food with Multiple South East Asian Flavors. Fast moving. Immaculately Clean facilities. Great Staff especially Allan our Server, Eddie our Counter Chef, and Owner Kai. Who was very hospitable, considering we were a large group of 2 tables. Toro Appetizer with Caviar was amazing. Hamachi With Brown Butter was amazing too. Tsukemen Ramen with Yuzu Froth was the best dish of the night. The Pork Belly & Soft Boiled Egg was cooked perfectly. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. Highly recommend. We will definitely be going back!!Thank you to the owner for responding. You have a great time unique business. We look forward to patronizing your establishment again soon.ESJ

2022-03-28A beautiful, quaint restaurant that seats about 30 people, 5 tables and a noodle bar. We got to sit at the noodle bar and watch the chefs prepare our ramens with care and elegance, truly a treat in itself.I ordered the Mu, which is their beef styled ramen with a 10 hour savory beef broth, wagyu brisket, bean sprout, kikurage, pickled Napa, scallion & garlic. The broth was rich and full of intense flavor, but soothing enough to warm the spirits. With our bowls empty and our stomachs full, the chef that prepared our meals respectfully asked us how everything tasted. If that doesnt show love for your craft, I dont know what does!I wish this was open when I was in college then, I would have gone more often. Recommend Recommend Recommend!

2022-03-04The best ramen I ever had. There wasn’t one bite of food here that I enjoyed less, due to everything being absolutely perfect. If you like ramen, this should be your go-to! The appetizers were also fantastic.
