In 2012 we were interested in adding solar to our house. We spoke to several companies at a local home show and ETM was the only one to call us back. After meeting with them, we ended up getting a solar hot water system installed. The install was quick, professional, and really helped cut back on our fuel oil usage. Eight years later and we were ready to add solar electric to our house. Almost everyone who we had worked with originally back in 2012 was still at ETM. It’s now been a year with our solar electric system, which includes a Tesla Powerwall, and we couldn’t be happier. ETM really has helped us become largely energy independent.

Over the years I have had various crews doing jobs at my house. The ETM crews were such a pleasure to have around. Mike is stellar - always available if need be. Any of them would stop and answer questions. Im very glad I choose this company to work with! The office also worked with me tirelessly dealing with electric company issues.

I decided to try ETM after they were recommended from their work on the CCE Tompkins Power House. They were slow to respond to my job inquiry and after I supplied them with the technical info they requested for the job, they completely ghosted me...no returned calls or emails. They might very well be good at initial installs and engineering but it takes a special company to want to help off-gridders . ETM is not that company.

ETM is very good to work with. We have had two installations done by them several years apart -- our needs for solar power have grown as we slowly converted our house from natural gas to electric. And now, they are in to more aspects of the environmental business with things like battery storage and green crushed stone driveways.

My wife and I hired ETM for a two part project to bring our old farmhouse into this century: the first part was installing a heat pump split system to replace our oil furnace; part two was installing a 36 panel solar system (sun and meteors not included) to power the property.Wendy was our point person for both projects, and has been consistently quick to respond to any questions we have had, thorough in her explanations, and very down to Earth with an easy going disposition.Wendy was patient to walk us through all of the financing options and details, explaining the current funding incentives ad nauseum, as well as how the company came to its projections. Wendy is an all star. When it came time for boots on the ground, Ken and John were here for both projects. I couldn’t speak more highly about either of these guys: super friendly the entire time, affable, thorough, always willing to work with me to make sure the small details of the job would meet expectations.Look: they were working on an old farmhouse, and around a very old barn–things come up, but they always checked in with me before moving ahead when there was an alteration needed, and without doing so in a way that I think would bug customers who might want to be left alone. And, of course, we are very pleased with their craftsmanship, and the quality of the installation in both aspects of the project. Great work, gentlemen.Ken often took the time to explain why he thought different options made sense. The same can be said for Brent, who was on site for the solar installation. Ken and John double checked that I understood how to use the heat pump before they left after the final installation, walking me through the manual and remote; similarly, Brent ensured I was totally ready to boot up the solar inverters once NYSEG changed our meter out, and answered nitty gritty questions throughout the process. One of the project leaders, Steve, spent 45 minutes on a conference call with me and an electrician helping me on a concurrent job to update our meter cabinet and electrical service to both the house and barn. Our electrician really wanted to make sure everything he was doing would be Kosher with the solar needs, and they had a very in depth discussion to make sure it would. When the system plans needed to be altered (not ETM’s fault–the plan to change out the electrical service was implemented after their original site visit and consultation), the company’s founder and CEO, Gay Canough, emailed me the new wiring diagram herself, and before the end of the same workday they realized they’d need an update. After the job was complete, Steve noticed we were not generating power (NYSEG had not changed the meter yet), and called us to check in—we did not need to call him.If this doesn’t say it, I don’t know what does: how many times do you end up knowing all the people on a work crew on a first name basis? I’m saying, you don’t, but with this company I had guys coming up just to introduce themselves and be friendly. As far as performance goes, the heat pump has been really awesome for several months now, flooding our sizeable living room, dining room, and kitchen with plenty of heat, seeming to have no issue keeping the area warm to around -4F outside. I dont have exact metrics beyond that, other than on a recent -18F morning the living space was 55F (set for 68F). I cant fault the unit for that kind of performance, and to be fair, ETM never gave us the idea that this one unit was supposed to heat the entire house in those kinds of conditions. On sunny days, our solar field appears to be generating more than we are using; at this rate, I am confident the investment is going to pay for itself as planned over the long term.If this review sounds like a commercial, it’s just because all of these people have earned it from day one. We plan on hiring them for more work in the future. Thanks, ETM!

It has been about 6 years since we had ETM Solar Works install our leased roof solar panels, and there has been absolutely no problems or disappointments since. We have received the guaranteed yearly energy and feel so good about getting this renewable source of electricity without pollution or any problems. Wonderful!

ETM Solar installed a 13kW solar system on our roof in 2018. We were very pleased with the overall experience. Installation went smoothly and they have reacted very quickly with any questions and concerns.

ETM installed 32 solar panels back in 2018 and its been a great investment! There have been a couple inverters go bad, but theyve been quick to come out to replace them to get things back working. Thanks Wendy, Steve and crew!

ETM did a great job with our PV Solar Project. They evaluated our house and location, explained the process including various options and were very quick with the installation. The installation was done sooner than expected and the team did a great job explaining how the system works, and net-metering.
