EVEN Hotel New York - Midtown East, an IHG Hotel in New York

I stayed at EVEN for a business trip last month. The rooms were so nice, clean and relatively spacious. The location is perfect. But two things were really annoying to me: 1-one staff at the front desk was extremely unpleasant-even rude, when I contested that they charge 2 dollars for EACH package received. She kept on being rude for the two or three times I interacted with her after making that point. 2-the coffee (both at the room and at breakfast) was terrible. For someone who does not function in the morning before a proper cup of coffee, I had to go out everyday to get coffee from outside.
The hotel is decent. Rooms are small, but clean and nice. There was one issue with my stay. When I checked in, I was welcomed as IHG gold member and the lady at front desk told me she gave us great corner spacious room with big windows on 2 sides of the room. Which was very nice - except - when we got to the room, it was all a lie. The room was one of the smallest with 1 medium size window. I dont know why I was provided wrong info at front desk, but it got our hopes high for no good reason lol.
This was a nice hotel and convenient to a lot of places where I was traveling to. Check in was quick and customer service was excellent. Im not a fan of hotel beds so I wont rate them on that. I like how cleaning services is based on request or longer stays. I technically requested a tub but after we made ourselves comfortable we were too lazy to request to switch rooms since we had a long day. Overall the place was clean and interesting. Great for those who loves working out since they have yoga mats and stuff in the room. No issues with WiFi.
My family had a great stay at EVEN hotel for a one week. Marwan was especially helpful in accommodating our change in plans due to a flight cancellation as Orbitz did not follow through. While the rooms were somewhat tight - it is NYC! The rooms more than accommodated our large group and were clean and well-stocked. The housekeeping team kept the rooms tidy and we enjoyed the common area and gym. The location of the hotel was perfect for our needs as we saw a number of Broadway shows, visited museums and traveled throughout Manhattan by subway. It was a great trip!
The room was not clean, we catch some hair in the carpet and inside the drawers. The carpet was peed stained, I know its pet friendly but at least they should wash the carpet. The blackout shades had duck tape on it and rolled over and never worked, we waited for someone who was on there way to fix them and never came. The location its good, you get what you paid for.
Great experience staying at this hotel. The rooms are exceptionally clean, the location is close to Grand Central, and the service is excellent. However I would not recommend the breakfast offered through their cafe nor the drinks offered at the bar. The bartender is not very good at well, bartending. He is disinterested and appears annoyed when you order a drink, and then both our cocktails were not well balanced. The servers for the breakfast are also equally annoyed when you sit down and order something, sometimes being rude. The 4 stars is for a great hotel experience and lacking one for the rest.
Great hotel at a nice spot!- Close to Bryant Park- People in front desk are friendly and helpful. I had a noisy room close to ice machine, they moved me quickly to another beautiful room (thanks)- Lobby has a nice vibe & bar- Rooms are beautifully decorated, beds are very comfortable and clean- High floor rooms have some view
The Even Hotel is a very cozy, well located modern hotel with a fabulous staff. I never had to wait long for service or assistance. They are amazingly friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable (not too spacious but enough). I stayed for 28 days. The closet space, however, was limited for such a long stay. A great plus is the free laundry service for gym clothes. A great perk. I very much enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
I had not previously stayed at an EVEN hotel, but would definitely choose again. This location was very convenient for all of the things we had planned in NYC, the area had plenty of restaurants to choose from. Having a nice yoga mat in the room was very useful and allowed me to get in some yoga time each morning (which I needed after so much walking around NYC!).
This hotel is really nice inside and out. In addition, the staff is the best feature. Most thankful for Cheryl at the front desk who is just fantastic and always helpful. Thanks also to Fiona, Malaika and Cassandra. Special thanks to Marwan, the manager. All these people made this hotel five plus stars.Thank you all,R.B
This room was not nearly nice enough to justify the price. The room wasnt well-designed and didnt make good use of the space. The closet was super annoying, with the hangers facing out instead of to the side. The air conditioner was broken in our room and it was warmer than we wanted, despite them sending someone up to fix it twice. There was nothing in the mini-bar. The restaurant was only open for dinner, and the service was sub-par. Our dinner was delayed, and then we were told we wouldnt have to pay for anything. When our order came, it was wrong, and then we were still given a bill. They said they generously took 50% off, and only the food. Most of the staff were very nice, though, and overall it was an ok hotel. I know everyone is short-staffed and that is likely why the restaurant was only open for dinner. I know everyone is doing the best they can and our poor experience was probably the exception. We will not stay there again, however. The bar next door, the Overlook, was the best part of our stay! Very laid back, good drinks.
We had a great time and would return. Could be improved by getting the ice machines working - we tried 2 floors and they were inoperable. Fitness room concept doesnt really work because the in room fitness device is blocked by the bed for most movements. A neat concept, but these rooms are just too small for that. The hotel does have an excellent gym on the lobby floor.
Excellent contemporary Hotel. Rooms. Have RGB lighting around the bed and a remote to control it. Fridge in room, Bluetooth stereo in room, and the best blackout shades Ive seen at any hotel. Comfortable bed leaning toward the firm side. The pillows and sheets were crisp, high thread count, and felt excellent. Great stay.
We left an expensive blazer in the room at checkout and we called the same day and asked for it. They say will let us know about it, no call back, then I called again the following day and after numerous attempts they finally talked with me and informed there was nothing at Lost & Found from our room. The cleaning staff most likely took it and nobody would admit. Avoid leaving valuable items in your room.
This is the worst hotel experience Ive ever had in the past 10 years. NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!Their cleaning service is terrible! The four pillows on the bed had a strong odd smell. Apparently someone threw up and they did not clean it up thoroughly. The sheet also had a disgusting smell. They gave us some new pillows and sheets to replace and asked us to change them by ourselves. It is the hotels fault but we had to buy it and even no one helped us to change the sheets and pillows. They had no alternative room to change and we had to sleep on a bed where someone vomited. It is so disgusting!!!! You do not know who lived in this room before, and whether they had any infectious diseases or not. In the end my husband and I got COVID-19 after this trip. I strongly doubt that we got infection here. My husband also got bitten by some insects in this room and it is still itching right now (almost two weeks later). It was a horrible experience at this hotel and it ruined my trip in New york!
Positive: The staff were friendly and our room was clean, updated and comfortable. It was nice to return each day to a comfortable amd clean room. The room was a decent size based on NY standards. Negative: There was nothing that we¿d change about this hotel. It met our hotel needs.
Great service here, we were never bothered and cleaning was done when we left the room. My fiancé and I did get stuck in the staircase doors at 9pm and help showed up 5 min later!! We were trying to get water and decided to take the stairs and our key tag did not work. Other than that the two night stays were good.
You will pay about $100/night more than the advertised price! The hidden fees were absolutely outrageous. Just to be clear, these are further hidden fees past the already outrageous fees and taxes that they tell you about during reservation. Everyone at the front desk trying to check out had the same thing to say, why do we have an extra $25/night on my bill?. The managers excuse was simply, thats just how we do things!. Thanks for admitting you hotels institutionalized shady practices!Breakfast is absolutely not worth it. They staff a single cook to microwave old food and bring it out at a rate of 30min/plate. Forget trying to eat with your family.
My stay was great. However, I left two clothing items in my room. I called 30 minutes after I left and spoke with the front desk, giving my contact info, room number, and clothing items in the room with exact location. I was never contacted back. I have called and spoken to someone an additional 4 times, explain my situation and they take my contact info, and nobody ever calls back. I’m infuriated that these items are even considered missing when I called right away and told exactly where they were. They are more stolen than anything. I will never stay here or this brand elsewhere ever again.
Great place to stay, the location is perfect its right near timeshare, the Chrysler building and the United nations. The room has its own exercise equipment with workout videos on the cable channels. I used them everyday and plan on purchasing my own. The lobby is on the 2nd floor which is great because you dont have to pass through every time you want to leave. Its more discreet when you want to have guests over. The hotel is also very quiet I had a great time.
This hotel was great for our needs, it’s in a great location with lots of food outlets nearby and central station a 5 minute walk away. The only thing I would change is the fitness equipment in the room; I felt it was unnecessary ( probably most people don’t use it; we were on vacation and walked miles each day ) and maybe the equipment only needs to be in 50% of the rooms ( you could request need for it at booking ) as without the fitness equipment you would have more space for clothing / hooks etc to hang up coats as wardrobe space is quite small, this is only a suggestion and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in the same hotel again.
Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights during the month of June 2022. My family had a hard time getting rest because of a very laude music they have on the balcony. Few times we have asked them to turn it off as we were tired from our trip. The lobby refused and didn’t take us Serious. I will never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to guests who want to get a good night sleep. Also would not recommend to family with children. Really bad service!
I was quoted a $15 per night resort fee, but, was charged $25. The lady at the front desk just said to call a manager later about it during checkout. After reviewing my reservation it does say in the small print they can do that, but, from a customer satisfaction view point this is bad business and I would not recommend this hotel unless you want a surprise when you check out.
BEWARE OF HIDDEN FEES AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES UPON CHECK-INI’m not sure how this hotel has highly rated reviews. I had reservations for the EVEN Hotel Midtown 11-15 May 2022. Our stay here was a bit difficult to say the least. Upon check- in we were notified that the total amount was $400 more than the charges we received in our confirmation email. Once we arrived to our room, it was filthy. There was a layer of dust everywhere, dirt on the floor and the sheets had hair and other debris. I promptly notified the front desk staff and they moved us to another room. The second room was dirty as well. Again, there was a layer of dust on everything. The maintenance guy who had to come fix the tv even stated how dusty it was. This room was also dirty. There was blood on the headboard which poses a biohazard condition. The sheets on one of the bed had some kind of gunk on it and they were ripped. The bathroom sink was dirty and had mildew underneath the lip. I emailed the general manager and he never responded. In the end we were accommodated for all of the inconvenience but we shouldn’t have had to deal with the uncleanliness in the first place.
They gave us room with two beds where I knew I cant fit there together with my boyfriend. I went to ask to exchange the room and the women told me she cant do anything about it because the hotel is full. But it wasnt true because I tried to do new reservation and it showed us rooms for the night. Im traveling all the time and everywhere but i never had this experience before. Never go there again!
The hidden fees were absolutely outrageous. Everyone at the front desk trying to check out had the same thing to say, why do we have an extra $25/night on my bill?. The managers excuse was simply, thats just how we do things!. Thanks for admitting you hotels institutionalized shady practices!Breakfast was $15/person/day to have a single employee microwave clearly old food and bring it out at a rate of 30mins between plates. Thanks, I didnt want to eat with my family, anway.
My family and I stayed here for a long weekend in March 2021. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is in a great location thats just a quick 15-20 minute walk from Times Square and the theatre district, but also within short, easy walking distance of Grand Central. We would gladly stay here again.
Positive: Id give an 11 to cleanliness if I could - everything was neat, tidy, modern, sparkling. The hotel is very near major transportation, reasonably priced, and the staff did a nice job at check in and check out Negative: I got stuck in the stairwell when I left my floor to find ice! There was no notice that the doors would lock
I loved everything about my stay at even hotel. The price point, the cleanliness, the location, the professionalism of the staff. I did not have a single complaint my entire stay except for there not being an ice machine on my floor, which honestly was not that big of a deal
Reserved on Hotwire for 4 nights. Small mixup at check in but the desk clerk fixed everything and was able to get into room right away. Small room with 2 double beds, especially for 4 adults. Limited storage space for clothes. Small fridge and Keurig. Yoga mats, equipment available in room. Shower included shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Nice lobby area on second floor with outdoor balcony. Microwave and small store with snacks, drinks, etc available for purchase. Staff was helpful and fulfilled any requests. Window in room will open slightly. Night shade can be pulled down over window. Front desk held our luggage at checkout for us until time for flight.
Very knowledgeable and attentive staff.I saw a broken fixture on the Peloton, reported it to management. They applied themselves, came up with a good fix and did it within the hour…Huge applause for the level of accountability and responsibility demonstrated…I’ll be back in June, with a smile on my face!
Positive: I absolutely loved my experience at this hotel, the rooms are updated and clean the smell of bleach filled my nostrils upon entry ¿¿ the staff was phenomenal and restaurant staff was excellent. The location was great . Negative: The down side is no iron and no microwave Are in the rooms
I am a patient at an area hospital and every two months I have a three day treatment...requiring a four day stay at The Even. The staff has always been amazing. Theyre friendly, kind, and professional. It is our go to each time and we wouldnt want to stay anywhere else. We do not hesitate recommending this property if ever in NYC. Thanks, Even! Youre the best!!
We stayed 3 nights the week leading up to Christmas 2021. Fam of 3, booked thru Expedia. We chose EVEN after reading several hotel reviews for all over NYC. This was the only one that didnt have negative reviews/mentions of things broken, nos and complaints about lobby, long wait, elevator, etc. EVEN was seamless, affordable, and matched the good reviews we read. We will absolutely stay again.*Everything* was clean, worked, in order, in room. The room looked exactly as photos showed on website, ours was street view. We were able to get an early check in for extra $40 around 10AM. Housekeeping checked with us each day to see if we had needs or wanted room cleaned. Bathroom was clean/modern, good water pressure in shower, good toiletries. Roomy sinktop with extra storage underneath. The room had an exercise ball and fitness ropes. We were in NYC for touring/shows, did not make use of equipment or fitness room. Bed/pillows/linens were all very clean/very comfortable. Keurig and fridge in room. Microwave is in lobby. We never heard other guests thru walls, etc...very quiet. Theres a little coat/dress closet niche with a little extra storage.Check In/Out were quick/smooth. 3 elevators, 200+ rooms, so there was never a long wait for elevator. They held our luggage at no charge last day, and retrieving the bags was super quick. The walk is maybe 5 minutes from Grand Central Station, very convenient when we wanted subway Theres so much to do in mid-town, Time Sq, Broadway, that we mostly walked everywhere avg 20 min or less.Lobby is 2nd floor, all had a nice, clean, modern atmosphere. We did not eat hotels cafe/restaurant, but brought in dessert and played chess in lobby. Plenty of restaurants all around and a Walgreens practically next door.Keep in mind, this is NYC, so unless youre paying a mint, rooms are efficient, for living out of your suitcase : ) For sake of conservation, we opted not to do towel exchange, so room could use extra towel hooks. Hotel had a new-mod vibe, not the grand old NYC style. Honestly, we were expecting to be underwhelmed and to just take whatever place we could find that wasnt a fortune. Instead, we were very pleased with EVEN, happy and very comfortable.5 star rating for the fact that it turned out to be exactly as advertised, convenient location, and no complaints, and everything worked. After seeing so many reviews for other places that had issues with air/heat/water/room not stocked, waits, complaints, not clean...EVEN was a haven...a sign of great management and staff. Thank you!
Ive stayed at hotels all over the world and had the most unpleasant reception experience here. On the day of our departure from NYC I asked two people behind the front desk if they had any information about how to get to Newark airport. Both looked at me like they had no idea what I was talking about with very little interest in helping me. I was standing in front of Yan at the time- hope name is correct as she tried her best to hide her name tag- and a man walked up with his question. At that moment Yan told me to move out of the way while using a very belittling waving hand gesture motioning for me to quickly move. I had to ask the other lady Maria the same question again and she attempted to look it up but was clueless. You would think staff at a NYC hotel would know how to talk to their guests and be more knowledgeable about transportation for their guests. I mentioned to the reception clerk Yan whom waved me to the side that I did not appreciate her speaking to me in the manner that she did and reminded her that I am also a paying customer at the hotel. Her response was I am sorry you feel that way. A short while later and after I had already checked out the clerk Yan came looking for me in the lobby confronting me and my mom who was standing right next to me saying that I was discriminating her. My response to that was she was being very discriminating against a customer. Anyone working in the hospitality industry should know how to speak to their customers.
Ive stayed at the Even midtown many times. On my last visit in March 2022 my bed had no duvet. When asked how my stay was I mentioned I didnt have a blanket - I was told by a rude front desk associate that I need to request a blanket - press zero and ask. Further, when trying to reach management to discuss both housekeeping and customer service issues the same person at the front desk was rude and difficult to deal with. Shes now put me on hold for 10+ minutes and has noted I need to know the difference between a duvet and a blanket. Either way - terribly rude person at front desk and awful customer service. Mistakes are made - no big deal - but treating a customer the way I was treated is not OK. Ive recommended the hotel to many friends and have stayed there many times. Too many other places to stay with better service. Unfortunate - as there are other nice folks on staff, but this one person has really ruined it for me.
Due to medical treatment, I am in the city every two months for 3-4 days at a time. The Even is where we always choose to stay. The accommodations are comfortable, the staff is super friendly and professional, the rooms are clean, and the fact that there is a parking garage right next door is also very convenient. The Even will always be our go to.
Sheets (and later discovered the mattress protector) were stained. Like a big splotchy orange and some brown bits here and there. Doesnt inspire confidence.Cant comment on the wellness routine as mine doesnt exist unfortunately.Staff were great and friendly. Great location!
Didn’t meet our expectations even though we read most of the reviews.. the location is the only great thing about this hotel .. other than that the hygiene and hype of fitness, workout equipment in a very small room with 2 beds where you keep bumping into everything on both sides is just silly .. thankfully we did have a busy schedule which eventually meant staying in the room at night to sleep .. and yup do not book with breakfast they will give you a voucher to redeem at a nearby diner .. consider these things before booking and make sure the total includes taxes as they also change when you get there to check in !!
OK hotel. But it doesnt qualify for the 4-star standard.Im a platinum member of IHG, got an upgrade to a higher level room, but I dont really think its a legit upgrade as there is no view or anything special. We also requested late checkout but they only granted us to extend our stay for 1 hour until 12pm, without any checking in their system. So basically dont expect any IHG membership benefits at this hotel. The room is clean, modern, but really small. I know its NYC, but a room with this kind of space shouldnt exist in a 4-star hotel IMO. The door is not sound proofing at all, so we heard people walking and talking at midnight and that affected our sleep. But the wall is sound proofing enough so we didnt hear anything from other rooms, which is good. The best thing I liked the hotel is the location, close to Bryant park and 456 lines. You can find really good restaurants within 20 mins walk.I do appreciate that it only costs ~120k points for our Thanksgiving 5-night stay, otherwise we need to pay more than $200/night at this hotel. I dont think its worth that much.
The hotel was very clean and (since we got a deal) we thought wed be put in a crumby room with no view, but that was not the case. Our room was really nice and had more amenities than Ive ever seen before, and the view was very nice! The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was quiet and clean and pretty, and the staff were accommodating. Overall, we were surprised in a very good way!
The front desk staff was very welcoming upon arrival. We stored our bags as we arrived very early. They were able to get us checked early as well. The staff even arranged a car service for our return to the airport. This location is great as they are in midtown within an easy walk to Grand Central Station and many restaurants. It is also on a quiet street with minimal traffic noise. We highly recommend the Even Hotel Midtown!
After living in Manhattan for 33 years, I knew about hotel nightmares. Steam heat blasting through radiators turned my friends into prunes! The EVEN Midtown does not have radiators. It has individual room temp controls. It had a window that opened. It had a gloriously comfortable bed and all sorts of jazzy lighting and a beautiful bathroom and speedy elevators and it was steps from bus or subway or the UN. The staff were nice. The guests were interesting (especially the handsome Chihuahua who spoke only French). The coffee was delicious. And if you truly want to keep working out while in NYC -- you can do it at their gym or in your room with the handy workout equipment. So please - do not tell anyone about this hotel. Because I will be staying again and I want to be able to get a room!
The location is great -it’s walkable to shopping, shows and Central Park but, is in a quieter part of midtown which makes sitting outside on the hotel’s veranda all the more enjoyable! Most of the staff wonderful but, I’d like to give extra kudos to housekeeping and maintenance because they were the stars in guest service; always smiling and being super pleasant! The ambience of the hotel is light and refreshing which is a great reprieve from the city. The rooms are NYC tiny so, be prepared to get more than one room if you have more than two people with you. I loved being able to open the windows for some cool fall air. Unfortunately, the mattresses are terrible -uncomfortable and worn enough that it’s not an even surface. If they improved this, I’d return in a heartbeat.
The hotel was very accessible from Grand Central it is in a great location, very quiet neighborhood yet close to 24hr drug store, restaurants and so much more. The rooms are small but very clean and fully equipped with enough storage space. Temperature control worked perfect and beds were very comfortable. This hotel will definitely be our go to hotel next time we are in the city!Thank you!
A great hotel for the traveler who is seeking a nice place to stay at an affordable price. Very friendly staff. Great location, central to everything in Manhattan. My room and the hotel facilities were immaculately clean. Proper Covid safety precautions were in place. Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay.
Great stay overall. Stayed here originally due to their location, two blocks from start of Abbott 5K, day prior to the marathon. They were kind enough to honor our request for a delayed checkout so we could shower after the run. Clean room, friendly, efficient staff, and awesome shower make this a must stay for us in the future. And NO elevator issues at all. I have stayed in NY hotels where you wait 10 minutes or more to get an elevator to your floor. Never waited, ever.
Stayed here for 4 nights in October. The rooms were a good price and quite large for new york. There was a working station in the room and even work out equipment. The front desk employees were so friendly and fun. I booked through a third party and accidentally booked one night extra. Sometimes making a change when youve used a third party is a huge pain but they helped me work it out with them which I really appreciated. Its also only a few blocks away from grand central station. The reason I give it 4 stars is because there isnt a ton of noise control. I could hear when people were talking in other rooms. There also werent the standard shampoos/conditioners/lotion in my room when I got there which didnt bother me that much. Still think this is a great value hotel.
This EVEN knocked it out of the park for us! I stayed twice in one week before and after having knee surgery. The staff is so kind - accommodated getting me a room as close as possible to the elevator, and even gave me a shower chair.Other highlights- We were able to leave our bags after checking out, and the parking situation is IDEAL ! Valet garage right before the entrance to the hotel. Friendly and efficient staff.Highly recommend this EVEN as it’s convenient, clean, and great people !
I used the Wellness support available in the room and it was helpful.. The sad part was that the computer system was down for my stay. The staff was working very hard and each person had to be escorted to their room and the staff unlocked the door. Sometimes there was a wait for the staff person to finish her present task before she got to me. They deserved a prize for what they did to help the hotel customers. In this regard, they were amazing. It took about 48 hours before I got a key for my roomI didn’t discuss Wellness Savvy issues with the staff.Everything about the room was good for me. I like the decor and find it a comfort to walk in the room. The lighting system is lovely. I like the simplicity of design, uncluttered and restful.
I stayed at this hotel again as I enjoyed my first experience. My second experience was great as well. Unfortunately due to covid food is not available so you will have to find other spots to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. It would be great if they could serve breakfast. No complaints.
The rooms are adorable and make you feel at home. The cork floors feel great on your feet. I love the well thought-out, built in work out station in the room. Free coffee in the room was a great touch. The bed was very comfortable. Everything felt clean, safe, and cozy. Would stay again.
Check in process was a hassle. I was staying with 2 of my sisters (both were added as guests to my reservation already). They they arrived before me so I wasn’t there to check in with them. Front desk told them they could check in without me if I called. I called and the lady on the phone was rude and said that wasn’t allowed. On our last night someone opened our door and tried to get into our room around 2am. Luckily we had the door stopper. We called the front desk and they said they’d look into it. The next morning the front desk lady said they couldn’t figure out who it was and that they didn’t see anyone in the hallway. She didn’t apologize. Location was very close to central station. A lot of restaurants in the area were closed on the weekend though so that wasn’t ideal.
EVEN Hotel Midtown East provided a clean, comfortable and pleasant stay for our party of three. Kudos to the front desk staff, who were friendly, efficient and proactive in taking care of our check in and checkout processes. We were recognized and greeted each day. Housekeeping was impeccable. Storing luggage upon arrival and as we navigated departure day was quick and secure. While we intended to use the excellent fitness offerings, long days made sleep a greater priority!
Decent stay, front desk staff was nice. They had no food available but there are many restaurants within walking distance. I wish they had a better refrigerator and a microwave in the room for longer stays. Overall for the price and location, it was a decent stay. I would think about staying again.
Stayed here several times, very convenient and clean. Moved my room due to a screaming child but then had the ice machine outside of my door, which woke me several times throughout the night both nights if my stay. I guess that’s the price I had to pay to give up the screaming child. Still like this hotel a lot. The staff was super and very helpful. Wish there was more than one staff member to check guests in, and wish that the food portion was open. I understand that staffing is hard to get right now. The rooms do have a small refrigerator and coffee maker which we did use. That was helpful! Overall I highly recommend this location, just don’t get a room near the ice machine if you’re a light sleeper. We will definitely stay here again.
I do not know where to even start with this hotel. I have stayed at many places across the country and when I tell you the front staff at this hotel was rude, they were RUDE. I stayed for a couple nights and before my trip I encountered a very rude person on the phone. She was disrespectful and was yelling at me on the phone. She was not willing to hear me out as they had charged my card multiple times and I was trying to sort it out with her. A couple minutes later I got a phone call back saying that she was new and that they wanted to apologize for it. New or not, is it not common sense to talk respectfully to guests?Once I got to the hotel, I was completely ignored and had to wait 10-15 min so that the front desk staff could finish socializing and laughing but they had no problem serving those behind me. I got asked if I wanted room service and I said yes but throughout my stay, not once did my room get cleaned. Why ask if you are not going to provide the service? Is it not part of the price? I had to go out and get my own towels because the staff was incompetent and were not able to get me clean towels. The only good thing about this hotel is location but save your money and choose a different hotel in this area. Trust me.
This place honestly blew me away. Ive stayed at many hotels around Manhattan and this was definitely the best one Ive stayed at for the price. The rooms were spacious by NYC standards and very nice; all of the designs of the desk, bed headboard, bathroom and closet space were excellent. The bed was very comfortable and not squished into place like in most NYC hotels. The bathroom was the nicest Ive seen at almost any hotel Ive ever stayed at. The location is great, only 1.5 blocks from Grand Central with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Front desk service was very quick and friendly. I would honestly go out of my way to stay here again!
The overall experience we had during our stay at the EVEN was great! The room was more spacious than I expected. The location was great, close to everything. I wanted to particularly thank the staffs that help us find the important document that we have inadvertently left in our room.
We chose this hotel because of its convenient location - but that is where the positivity ends. After a prepaid reservation, they stuck us with an $86.05 amenity fee but would not provide us with an invoice to show us what amenities were used unless you count the lobby where we sat on a couple of occasions. We were told they would send an invoice by e-mail but did not. They do not provide daily room service wherein the bed is made and linens are changed out even when you go to the front desk and ask for it to be done. The rug in the room was dirty.
Very clean great location and view. Walking distance from just about everything and a great rate. The staff were helpful and safety and security was a key detail for me. I enjoyed my four day stay and would highly recommend the Even Hotel to any and everyone who’s planning on visiting Manhattan.
Super clean great property and location. 5 minute walk to Grand Central which allows you to access the city via the subway. We used 7 day unlimited Metro card which got us everywhere we needed to be. Nice area with drugstore within steps of the hotel as well as plenty of dining options nearby. The hotel was newer, clean and quiet. The room was very efficient in its use of space. Offered some in room exercise options. Nice bathroom with great shower. Loved the little touches and the colored led lights made a great night light. Loved everything. We would definitely stay here again.
The great: We stayed for 5 nights for a birthday getaway, and had lots of excellent sleep on comfortable beds and pillows. Once the AC compressor on our floor was restarted, the AC was comfortably cool. The location was great and everything felt clean. It was our first time staying at EVEN so it was fun to be able to work out in the evenings in the room. The not so great: There was one day that only 1 of the 3 elevators seemed to be working so you had to be patient. Housekeeping is upon request, but we had two separate requests that were unfulfilled: one for housekeeping for the 3rd day and when that never happened, one request for fresh towels, which never came.
Had the perfect stay at this hotel. The location was right near Time Square. The staff was the best. The customer service was superb. They were very accommodating to me and my family. Check in and out was a breeze. The front desk was very polite and friendly. Overall great vibes and a lovely hotel. Will recommend.
I loved this hotel in the heart of Manhattan. My bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The room was very quiet for being in downtown NYC. The amenities were wonderful - yoga mat, exercise equipment, coffee in the room, amazingly smelling soaps and lotions. My room was crisp and clean and designed to maximize space. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I loved staying in room 1514 it was very clean and it helped me keep up with my morning exercises, I loved the view of the city and love how friendly the staff was. The rainfall shower was amazing I truly loved how the rooms came with all that I needed for my daily routine. It was a very peaceful and pleasant stay, I will definitely recommend this hotel to others and I am definitely planning on staying there again! Thank you EVEN hotel for the amazing room and for your great staff.
Hotel cleanliness was good, the light switches were very confusing since there were multiple light switches that turn on/off the entire room light and there were other light switches that didnt work at all. We had a build up of used towels and I thought that room service would come by every morning to take them out but they didnt. We had to call the front desk for someone to take our used towels and give us some new ones. The employee came and carried the towels with his hands (with gloves on). Thought that he would swing by with the usual hotel cart. It was definitely not sanitary at all for the employee, felt bad for him.
Front desk agent Cassandra was superb. Only thing that I did not like was that she did not tell me I was being charged after my stay for the double beds that she offered and gave me and my son. We could have stayed with the king bed we had. Still waiting to hear back from accounting after 2 unreturned phone calls on that. Other than that, she was helpful, friendly, very welcoming and very efficient.Bathroom lights went out on the mirror on one side while there, but it wasn’t a big deal. However, ice machine on floor was broken by the 2nd night. There was no breakfast as was advertised on the site. Disappointed in that. Room extremely clean, shower fabulous. Needed a microwave but none were available during our stay. Overall, great hotel!
Overall our experience at this hotel was very positive. The hotel is very close to Grand Central Station which is what we were looking for. The hotel was clean and modern. My only complaints are small - I wish Queen sized beds were the norm in all hotels. I found the double beds very small to share with another person. The bathroom was large and nice, but there was no lock on the door.
I came to visit Manhattan on business purposes. I stayed at a terrible hotel in Central Park. I mean I was really disturbed by my stay at this hotel. Upon checking into Even, I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. They got me a great rate with my AAA discount, and I stayed there for the next two weeks. The rooms were very clean, and they even had a resistance band trainer in the room. In addition, their gym facility is open 24/7. Helped me maintain my health practices while being in town for work.
Positive: Fantastic Hotel. I chose Even because I stayed at their location in Brooklyn and really loved it. My bathroom was huge. The room was a comfortable size. The decor is nicely modern and minimal and the staff, just like in Brooklyn were really great. Negative: Not one thing
Our stay was absolutely great at this hotel! The staff was very friendly & accommodating. They kept our luggages until check in and until after checkout, so we could enjoy the city before our plane left in the evening. Our room on the 15th floor was very clean, chic, and practical with iron and board, coffee machine, fridge, gym materials, etc. The only downside was the view, couldn’t see the city only the back of buildings.I love the modern shower heads and the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gels…top notch!! This hotel room is worth what we paid for it. And the location is very convenient because it’s within short walking distance to Grand Central 42 St. I would highly recommend this hotel. It’s very modern and up to date. You will enjoy staying here (plus the bed and pillows are super comfortable).
The property is lovely. Beds are super comfortable. Staff is super helpful. Limited room cleaning due to Covid - which is pretty standard at hotels now. Bar is not open, but plenty of places nearby. There is a great open balcony area that is great for relaxing in the evening.
Positive: Super clean room, nice sized bathroom, extremely comfortable bed, convenient location. Would absolutely stay here again! Negative: Check-in was later than expected, but understandable since the whole world is trying their best to get back to normal after covid. The Keurig in the room was a little squirrely and so were the elevators, the cards did not always work properly.
Let me start by saying this hotel is the best hotel I ever stayed in, in NYC. I wish I can give it more than 5 stars. This hotel was absolutely wonderful. my boyfriend and I enjoyed the wellness room and everything that made it amazing. The room was super clean and spacious! the check in was easy and smooth, and front desk staff was super sweet and plus great location. I’ll definitely be back here thank you for the wonderful stay
I believe that this hotel is what made our stay so memorable, the driver arrived on time, the car was nice and clean, the staff took care of our bags before we checked in. The hotel is in the heart of midtown, you can walk to Empire State Building, Flat Iron Building, Central Park, shops on 5th, consulates, time square. The Grand Central station is less than 0.25 mi away. The room is nice, modern and clean. I really do hope to come back here again!!!
William,First off, my friend and I really enjoyed our stay here at the Even Hotel in Midtown East in New York City. The hotel is a nice hotel and our room (2610) was great and the location of the hotel was good as we are just 2 blocks from Grand Central Terminal and the subway system. I need to provide you with some positive feedback and feedback on an area of improvement. First off, I want to commend your Front Desk Staff member Rueben! I had interacted with Reuben a number of times during my stay and he was always very friendly and engaging and more importantly every request I asked Reuben to do, he did it! We had asked to have someone come up to unplug the clogged shower drain. He had this done while we were away for the day, which was great! Unfortunately, your other Front Desk Staff needs some training on Customer Service. We requested Housekeeping Service for our room 5 times over 3 days and only when I talked to Reuben did it happen! If it wasn’t for Rueben, none of our requests would have been fulfilled. Here is what happened:•We called down to the Front Desk on Saturday, July 3 to request for Housekeeping Service and the Front Desk staff said that our room would be us on the Housekeeping Room List for Sunday, July 4•After we returned on July 4 late in the afternoon, our room had not been serviced so we called down to the front desk. They said they would talk to their Manager and put our room on the Housekeeping PM schedule.•When we returned late on July 4 our room still had not been serviced•When we called on the morning of Monday, July 5 we again told the Front Desk staff member that our room had not been serviced after multiple requests. They apologized and “promised” that our room was on the list for housekeeping on Monday, July 5•Well unfortunately once again we returned from our day on July 5 and our room still had not been serviced. So when we called down, fortunately Rueben answered and I explained what had happened. Rueben was excellent and apologized that the many requests went unfulfilled and promised me that our room would be serviced on Tuesday, July 6 – in fact he said that he would be working starting at 7am so he would personally make sure our room was serviced.•Well due to Rueben’s due diligence our room was finally serviced on the morning of Tuesday, July 6th! I came back at lunchtime for a business Zoom call and the room had been serviced by Housekeeping! Please let Rueben know that he did an excellent job and made sure that your customers were happy and taken care of. Rueben is a great example of the great staff you should have at your hotel! One this is focused on providing excellent customer service! And please help train your other staff to be more like Rueben!
My experience at the Even was comfortable and slept in my big bed throughout the night. I enjoyed the layout of the room for these reasons: The light green curtains made you think of the forest with a touch of mystery; The dark screen was the mystery behind the curtain, held by a metal string to roll down should one require extra hours of sleep before sun rise; the light under the bed gave the room just the perfect amount of light as you walk in; the shared sliding door from closet to bathroom and back is ingenious; a cooler in the room sets the mood for a private night of drinking. Thank you!
The overall location of a hotel is excellent the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area also recommended places for us to eat at our arrival also the staff responded very quickly to any request that I had made during my stay and super friendly I love the fact that the hotel staff offered to hold our luggage after check out so we could explore the city more until it was time for use to go to the airport. They even offered us help with arranging transportation. I had such an amazing time at this hotel I can’t wait for my next stay here and the rooms were so stylish and spacious.
Though was just a short stay at the hotel found staff to be very courteous, helpful and polite. The room was inviting and clean, well maintained and pleasure to stay. Would recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area and need nice place to stay at affordable price.
Upon arrival we booked the package including parking which seem like the better deal at the time. I had a great encounter with the check-in clerk she was very accommodating considering me and my family were checking in after 2 AM. During to say I felt like the room was not cleaned properly, The shower floor was dirty and I had to wipe off everything with Clorox wipes to make you feel fresh in the room. At the end of my stay I found out that I was not given the correct form for my parking to be validated even though I paid for it in my rate. By not only one front desk clerk but three front desk clerk. I had to come back on three different occasions because they forgot to validate my parking for my stay and gave me the wrong parking validation ticket twice. Overall I would stay here again depending on the cleanliness of the room and even though they were small mishaps with the parking that would not detour me because the front desk staff was very accommodating and patient.
The location is great for jumping off into the city. We found it easy to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go. The size of the room felt a bit cramped, but we loved the size of the bathroom, as well as the glass enclosed tile shower! Friendly staff, very clean, great value.
I enjoy the location and the convenience of this hotel. The rooms are perfect size and nicely equipped. Workouts are easy. Unfortunately due to Covid the cafe/bar was not open yet. The staff are great and eager to help you with anything. Yan is excellent and I hope she is there when I return. I will be back!
My overall stay was great. However, I just checked my account and was charged a $286 smoking fee because they found ashes, not smelled smoke but “found evidence” of smoking. I’m very disappointed because at no time did anyone smoke in my room, it was ashes that was left over from a joint that wasn’t smoked all the way, put out and brought back in the hotel room. If someone did smoke I wouldn’t be writing this review.
Overall our experience was good. The hotel is dog friendly and the pooch loved the room! The bathroom door being a sliding door instead of fully closing is ...interesting... but there are worse things. Our only complaints was that there was no ice machine on our floor and we were not able to do a late checkout out.
The room we were provided had vomit on the floor and when we were reaccomidated to another room the hot water didnt work. On top of that the hotel charged an upgrade fee for moving us to a non-vomit filled room! UNACCEPTABLE!!!AS A spire Elite member I would expect to be treated way better than this!
Great stay at this clean, newer hotel. They had reopened right before my arrival after shutting down for a year and the staff was warm and friendly. Front desk was efficient and provided consistently wonderful recommendations on everything from local eats to a great route for a sightseeing Sunday morning walk. The TV showed some channels as not subscribed but the important ones worked. I plan to stay again on my next NYC visit.
Positive: Location. Negative: Poor customer service. Did not clean rooms/make beds/provide clean linens. Charged an $86.05 amenity fee and there are no amenities that we used or purchased. They stick you with it at the end of your stay and will not provide you with an invoice.
Positive: Friendly staff---though when I reported the maintenance problem and inability to sleep, they didnt offer to do anything for me. Negative: The A/C unit in my room was super loud and made it impossible for me to sleep. The number one thing that you need for a hotel room is the ability to get a good nights sleep, and though the staff I interacted with were friendly, it was an awful stay.
Tucked inside 44th street between 1st and 2nd ave, its almost hard to see. But its a great location. Lots of places to walk to and plenty of transportation options. The Wellness king might be a little small for those who like to stretch out. But the way its designed/organized is very nice. Definite Japanese/Asian design. So some full-bodied Americans may not like it as much ;-) But very neat/clean and surprisingly quiet. Will definitely stay again.
This was the most lamentable customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life, truly. There was an unexpected death, and had the cancel our stay but was still charged full price of the room. I was clearly upset on the phone as anyone would be when dealing with a loss, and after several calls to the hotel, incredibly long hold times and having been transferred from one person to the next, I eventually spoke with their director of finance. She was rude, cold, and not once did she wish her condolences. I had to cancel a few days before the booking, and while I understand a policy is a policy, as someone who has worked in customer service her entire life, I wondered how anyone could be so insensitive. Their only solution was to change the date of my stay, nothing else. I have probably only written one other review in my entire life, and dont care enough to take the time but I was so rattled by my experience I wanted to make this known. I wouldnt stay here even if they gave me free rooms for life.
The hotel was convenient to everything I needed to do. The staff were great, check-in was fast, breakfast was decent and quick, better than most lobby breakfasts offered by hotels. The room was super clean and fresh smelling. The room was quite large by Manhattan standards and had a small closet space. The bathroom was great, really good water pressure and decent towels. The desk chair was fairly comfortable and working at the desk was fine. The bedding could have been better. Avoid the dinner menu, the food was overcooked and not warm by the time I got it.
We returned to the EVEN Midtown East for our first fully-vaccinated weekend getaway to NYC. The hotel did not disappoint — this was our fourth stay since 2017, and the property was just as fresh and clean and comfortable four years later. Comfy beds, nice shower and bathroom, convenient location, and fantastic outdoor patio that we had to ourselves for wine-down in the gorgeous weather! The only snag is that on both Friday and Saturday nights, the building behind the hotel on 45th St (right across from our room’s window) had loud dance parties until 3:30 am — both nights. Since there was not a 44th St-facing room available to move us to. Jessica at the front desk offered us a late checkout on Sunday. This was much appreciated. I’ll continue to come back to the EVEN Midtown East next time I visit NYC, and I won’t forget earplugs!
Great staff and great hotel. Very clean, yoga mat and roller and bands in the room! Yan greater us at the desk and later recognized and said hi to our family at another completely random spot in NYC. That she even recognized us was impressive! All the staff were exquisitely.
I loved everything about the hotel. Staff was very friendly I dropped my bags off very nice spacious room. Went out for some food and drinks. When I went to get in my bed there was blood on the bottom of the comforter and a dirty paper towel. I pulled everything off the bed so I could sleep I didn’t have time to speak with the desk in the morning I sent an email never got a response. I mean really….
In town for knee surgery and needed a place to recover. This was a great location with proximity to pharmacies, restaurants and more that we needed to recover. Staff was accommodating and helpful for recommendations to local businesses. We loved the proximity to everything we needed for the first few tough days of recovery, and a nice 2nd floor terrace for people watching and enjoying the nice weather.Bar still closed but that’s okay this time!
Their house keeping service very poor even after compiling to the manager they did not act to our request . They do not give value to their customers . So I do not recommend to others to use this hotel unless they improve this situation . As manager they said they give priority to their workers safety not their customers service . What he does not want to accept that cleaning is part of the safety environment to the customers.Because of this our stay in NYC was not full as I had wish to be . So I strongly recommend the management should take action for customers centric service .
I had a mostly enjoyable weekend stay at this property. Clean, whimsical colors, convenient location in Midtown East. Pleasant staff. A few missteps tho. There was some garbage missed in the room from the prior guest. And with the (paid) IHG Spire membership, a room upgrade is supposed to be guaranteed. However I was told at checkin that a slightly higher floor was my updrade. This needs to be addressed if Even is truly part of the IHG group
Even Midtown East is where I choose to stay among the IHG hotels in NYC. The east side location is quiet and clean and SAFE. The staff at this hotel are wonderful and I like the rooms. The fitness center is always open and there is a lot of options and equipment depending on your workout preference. As I said, though, it is a safe area and great for just taking a walk outside.
Room was not cleaned, despite numerous complaints. The only day the staff came by to clean room was my checkout morning when I had the Do not Disturb sign displayed on the door. They were knocking to inquire about cleaning the room at 0830 on that day, despite the sign and not having cleaned the room on any prior day. I had to complain twice to get trash removed and fresh towels, which were thrown on the bed, 3 hours after the 1st complaint (and after a 2nd one)
The rooms are small which is pretty typical for a nyc hotel. However the room would get this horrific smell throughout the day to the point where we would have to leave the room. We were on the 10th floor so not sure where it was coming from. There is no cleaning service which I think is ridiculous if you want your room cleaned you have to give a 24 hour notice. Look else where.
On a way from Boston to Long island I was looking for a place to stay overnight and meet with my daughter who was visiting NYC.It was her birthday and we planned to meet for a dinner. Restaurant was selected and I was I search for the hotel with a convinient parking. I was glad to find Even hotel on my ihg app. I am pretty familiar with this chain, but was very pleased to see the amenities at a current location.
A great place to stay, adjacent to a parking garage (expensive) or the next block had two garages you can prebook. Restaurants at street level. Close to many stores. Rooms were super comfy and I enjoyed my stay with my two kids, the Hotel make my entire NYC experience a lot less stressful.
Good location, nice clean and modern setting. Relatively affordable rooms. The rooms are compact but are nicely appointed. The staff was largely quite young, and werent OVERLY responsive and attentive - but they answer questions and allow certain requests and things (just seemed a little afraid to go off script even when it seemed like an obvious and easy request). They room was great, VERY clean and cool. They are equipped with plenty of outlets and phone charger ports, colorful mood lighting, and even all the yoga equipment you could need. The hotel TV channel even has yoga instruction (although I think itd be a struggle to find room for yoga poses in the room).
I chose this hotel because I wanted to maintain my healthy and active lifestyle and be close to work. This place definitely fits the bill. The rooms are equipped with various items you can use to do in-room workouts. The gym itself has all you can ask for and it has a ping pong table. The terrace is nice and is a good place to have a drink. The lounge area has some board games you can play as well. The staff was really helpful and Cassandra was the best. Her professionalism, friendliness, and positive attitude made my stay enjoyable. Also, the staff was very accommodating with my request for a late check-out.Minor gripes:There was trash in my room when I checked-inDid not replenish lotionKids were playing in the fitness center without adult supervisionOverall, I enjoyed my stay and will come back here in the future.
From Cassandra’s warm welcome to the security protocols to the comfortable, spotless, comfortable guest room to the incredible fitness center to the friendly, professional assistance from Jessica, I was mightily impressed with my first experience at an Even hotel. It was a great value, and I’ll definitely be back
Ive stayed at this hotel before and didnt have any issues so I thought Id come back again on a recent trip. That was partially a mistake. This hotel emphasizes wellness with both a decent sized gym behind the check-in desk as well as workout equipment in your room. Trouble is, most rooms are New York sized tiny, so if you want to workout there, youll be bumping into the furniture. No worries on that however as the room is clean and efficient for very short-term stays. A typical King room is great for one person and very cozy for two. They have a bar/dining area also behind the check-in desk with a good variety of drinks although the bar closes at 10pm during the weekdays (wellness?). You also get a refillable water bottle in your room which you can use to fill up with filtered water but the locations for the water are not on every floor.Where they failed big time was the staff. Seems like the young guys working area cant seem to remember anything after 30 seconds. At check-in, I requested a late check-out which is a benefit of my elite status and was told no problem. Never trusting the check-in desk (from prior experiences elsewhere) I called in the morning to verify, was told no initially then yes, after they realized I had elite status. Unfortunately, no one told the cleaning staff so while I was out on a business meeting the housekeeper came in, started cleaning up and threw out some stuff I had left on the desk. No apologies from anyone, no asking how my stay was, basically no caring. Looks like this hotel has entered that stage where everyone is focused on their phones and social media and attention spans go in 30 second spurts. Considering the price, there are much better hotels in the area and I doubt Ill return.
My son was being discharged from a nearby hospital, I had a business meeting, and we had our dog with us. The staff, starting with reception (Aya?) was so welcoming. I immediately noticed the cleanliness and freshness of the facilities and the unbelievable deck off the lobby as well as the best fitness space I’ve ever seen in an NYC hotel. The room was perfect and amazingly quiet for a busy area. This hotel has an excellent location and is a tremendous value. We signed up for the rewards program and frankly, I don’t see a good reason for staying anywhere else during our next visit to NYC. Congratulations on doing such an outstanding job with this property and thank you for hiring really great staff!
The staff was really nice and helpful. The room was a good size and the beds were fantastic! Nice bathroom and we had a nice view of the city. The front desk staff was helpful giving us information about where stuff was and how to get there. It was a great first experience in NYC! Would definitely stay again!!
I was stay in even hotel 6-21 to 6-25 4 nights at room 1710. There is few things I need to talk about it! First there is no any room clean service in there days and I have been waiting for my bath towel but still no one bring it。Also there is a spider in the room please see the picture! It’s very Disappointed to stay this hotel because I saw the good reviews than make decisions to booked.
Im so happy that I found this hotel for my and my aunts two-night stay in NYC. We were so comfortable in a 2-bed room. Everything about the bedding was perfect. The shower is outstanding. Although we didnt have time to make much use of the in-room fitness equipment for workouts, we did love the yoga ball and foam roller for stretching and massaging tired muscles after pounding the pavement all day site-seeing! We did not make use of the restaurant, but I really wish that we had. The staff of the hotel is friendly and welcoming. We did not have any issues that needed to be addressed, but I have no doubt that the staff would have been very responsive. Youll enjoy your stay!
I really enjoyed my stay at this Even Hotel. It was my first time at an Even Hotel property, so it took a little time to get what the hotel vibe was. That vibe is wellness, and I thought it was pretty cool. Yoga mat, block, foam roller and exercise ball were located in my room. The TV automatically starts on wellness exercise routines - cool. The bed was comfortable and I really enjoyed the total blackout drop-down shade in the windows. I slept well, and I really didnt hear any city noise. Im not sure if it was because the rooms are so well sound insulated or if it was because I was on the 27th floor. Awesome view btw. I also really enjoyed the breakfast options that were available - very much health focused and delicious. The fresh ground coffee was delicious too. I stick to public transportation if I can when I travel and this hotel is just a short walk from Grand Central Terminal - super convenient. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
The hotel team members are exceptional! They are friendly, helpful, and competent. How nice to walk into an establishment and be greeted each time with a smile! The rooms are extremely clean and include workout equipment that is supported by routines displayed on various television channels. The fitness center is also clean and offers a variety of nice equipment. The location is fantastic! There are many restaurants and businesses around that provide everything you might want or need. I will definitely be returning to this establishment again. Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable!
Perfect location to Grand Central Station. Clean, modern rooms, very comfy beds. Allowed us to store our luggage before check-in. Very nice bathrooms in lobby where you can freshen up after a long flight before your room is ready. We stayed 4 nights and I would 100% stay again. Only issue is rooms with adjoining doors are not soundproof. But thats my only quibble. We loved it.
A very nice, comfortable hotel in a good location. The staff was all very friendly and my room was great. I really appreciated having the in-room fitness options including the foam roller. It was perfect for working out my post flight kinks and there were some cool workouts on demand on the TV.I also found the mood lighting in the room to be very cool but not overly useful. I had a nice drink in the hotel bar and the food options looked great. I recommend this place very highly for business travel but Im not entirely sure its perfect for families or tourists.
Staff is very friendly. The hotel and the room are kept clean. While you won’t be finding many large rooms in NYC, we were pleasantly surprised at the space in the the room. Walls were somewhat thin I expect to hear sirens and traffic down below when I stay in New York, and you do. You do also hear the elevators, even though we were all the way down the hall. The elevators are particularly loud. I could also easily hear people leaving and entering other rooms, as well as hallway conversations. Overall, I would definitely return.
The only real discomfort with this stay was the somewhat lacking water pressure from the shower head. The room was clean and there wasn’t much noise to distract me from sleeping. There was a large bump in the floor near the entrance to the room which was odd but didn’t prove to be an actual problem.
For the price of the hotel you just cant beat. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with nice lighting arrangements, great front desk staff. The only thing I didnt like was the resort fee since I didnt use any of the fitness equipment in the gym. I highly recommend this hotel property to business travelers or guests that want an intimate NYC getaway. The location was within a short distance of some nice shops and eateries as well as a beautiful church and parks.
I received a high floor room far from elevator, as I requested, since Im sensitive to sound, but it happened to be directly across from an ice machine. The room was nice, plenty of workout implements, but I was woken up every few hours by people getting ice. The morning shower was enjoyable. This property got away from the little hotel bottles, and uses more sustainable, large bottles, which appear to be of much higher quality product. Even the lotion seemed better. Great hotel.
This hotel is awesome - glad I stayed here. Its all about your wellness. Im no exercise or fitness guru, but the resistance bands/ball/videos/etc IN THE ROOM are an added bonus. The gym has more than one of each piece of equipment too.The room was comfortable, with cool lighting. My room faced the back of the hotel, so no view and I kept the darkening shade down. It was nice and quiet. The staff makes the whole experience. Very friendly and accommodating. Casual, not stuffy.Usually I dont eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant, but this was delicious! A little over-priced, but didnt need lunch after the healthy breakfast food. Thanks for the experience - I will tell my co-workers, as we are working on projects at NYU Langhome and MSK. See you again soon.
We got in late on a Friday night, they allowed us to check in super late after a flight delay. Our air conditioning was broken in our first room when we got there—but they upgraded us to a better room, gave us free breakfast, gave us a late check out, and allowed us to store our bags the next day/evening for a late international flight. Really loved the new concepts of the hotel related to wellness. Also enjoyed the rooftop patio while we waited on the car service they arranged for us to the airport! Wonderful service!
Really enjoyed our stay here. I love that they promote healthy living and that they had all the equipment in our room with a guide to get a workout done. The room was clean and comfortable with all the little details to make us really enjoy it - like the shower toiletries that smelled amazing!! The front desk was always very friendly and accommodating offering everything from lemon/ginger water, luggage storage, and an umbrella to stay dry in the rain. Its located in a great area where you can walk 10-15 minutes to Rockefellar or Times Square, or walk 5 minutes to Grand Central to metro anywhere. Would love to stay here again if/when I visit NY again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room matches the aesthetics that I like. The LED colour-wheel lighting system is fantastic. The size of the bathroom, along with the toiletries provided, is superb. It is also VERY important I mention the comfiness of the bed and pillows, as well as the eucalyptus sheets. It was the best sleep Ive ever had at a hotel and I credit the combination of the bed, pillows and sheets. I never wanted to leave this hotel.
Highly discriminatory disturbing conduct from management downwards. At check in asian front desk staff did only check in asians and made all others black or white guests wait. Then the Operations Manager Marwan Mahmud made clear that other guests are not welcome and cancelled the reservation. Very unprofessional and primitive boy presented as manager. Despite the crisis IHG hotels should never go that low at management level, for sure any kind janitor or other person would be more appropriate then Mahmud in this position. Low life club bouncer appearance. Lets hope tourism revival and ending pandemic regulations will bring quality staff back and bring people like a primitive conducting Marwan Mahmud back to where they belong, far away from a middle class manhattan hotel. Toilets not functional in lobby, dirty premises and unfriendly staff. Nothing good to report about this operations managers premises.
I have stayed at the Even - Midtown East several times, and I really like this hotel. The rooms are modern, always clean, functional, and I love the mood lighting (I like the blue that seems to be standard setting when you arrive). Nice workspace, lots of outlets. Last time I stayed, it took some time for air conditioner to start working, but just a mild irritation. There is a nice outdoor seating area on the check-in level. A new restaurant opened on the ground floor of the building, gives it a nice option. Highly recommend this hotel for a nice and reasonable NYC stay.
New to the Even properties, this was a really nice surprise. From the front desk at check in to staff during our stay, this was a great experience. Our room was small but amazingly functional for three people - it reminded me of an efficiently designed ships cabin. More importantly, the location couldnt be beat - Grand Central Station is two blocks away and access to all subways and trains are right there. The neighborhood itself had lots to offer - amazing sushi, great local coffee shops and restaurants. Looking forward to coming back!

2022-06-13We had a great week long stay at the Even Midtown. The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable, the staff were all really pleasant and helpful and it was overall a great experience. The hotel is close to Grand Central so is easy to get to the subway and take transit in from the airport. It should be noted that the hotel is 2 blocks away from the UN and most of the buildings around it are businesses, so it doesnt have a ton of great restaurants right near it, and the area is pretty dead in the evenings and weekends. This made for a really nice quiet stay, but also meant a longer trek for dinner and to shows.

2022-01-08Possibly the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in! Super clean, tidy and functional room. Reasonable rate, location is very near major transportation, and even the window opened, for fresh air!Modern hotel, modern furnishings, and all the room amenities were top rate. Only minor complaint was waiting a long time for hot water, but it eventually came through. No breakfast service, (probably Covid related?), but didnt need it, and there are plenty of breakfast options within a block or 2.Highly recommend!!

2022-04-29I booked this hotel because of the location, so close to Grand Central and I knew we would use the subway all weekend. Unfortunately this weekend the 4-5-6 was running express, so we had to walk further to get to the bus. There are plenty of restaurants in the area for breakfast or lunch or snacks. The hotel definitely has a funky vibe. Theres a nice outdoor area and lobby plus the gym had great equipment. They also had games and a ping pong table. However, the in room experience could have been improved. I felt that the wellness set up in the room was a gimmick that I could have done without. Instead of a fold out standing desk, resistance bands, and yoga mat, I would have preferred more drawers for my clothes. The room definitely needed instructions--the iron, ironing board, and bins for clothes were hidden and it took me a day to discover all that. There was a separate remote for colored lights, I think, but it didnt work. The room lights were way too bright and I could not figure out how to turn off some (the opposite of wellness--multiple harsh lights controlled by one switch). Who needs lights around the TV? Also you should know that theres no way to get to the 2nd floor lobby without waiting for the elevator. Its a wellness hotel and I did not understand why I could not use the stairs. A worker said it was due to safety--however, the lobby door and elevator to 2nd floor were not controlled by the key, so anyone could get in to the building anyway.

2022-04-25Hotel was very clean and had a great location near to Grand Central. The bathroom was also really nice and spacious given you are in a city.Detracting one star because every interaction I had with the hotel staff was fairly unpleasant from the front desk assistants to the person at the bar.Detracting another star because our hotel fridge did not work for the entirety of our stay and this is part of the reason why we picked this hotel. The most disappointing part was that we inquired 3 separate times to get it looked at/fixed and the front desk people were no help. The first time we asked they said they would send someone up and when we came back from our day our fridge still did not work. When we asked for an update the staff said “the do not disturb sign was on the door” which I had actually removed right before heading out earlier that morning. I understand hotel policy with the sign but the lack of follow up on the front desk was disappointing and poor service. I mean - room service literally came the same day. So, they definitely had to know that the sign was removed and their response to us was rude. They also definitely could have called my number on file to see if we still wanted the fridge fixed. We asked again to have the fridge looked at a second time and came back again to no fixed fridge and no commentary on what happened/did not happen. We asked one more time and saw no difference and were provided no update so we gave up. I really just would expect better service from an IHG hotel.

2022-05-12My stay at this property was fine. Convenient location, friendly staff, clean room, decent breakfast offerings; excellent fitness facility. For the first 2 days of my 3 night stay, there were no face cloths or bath mat provided in my bathroom. On the third day, all of these showed up. Im chalking this up to likely difficulty hiring trained staff after the pandemic tempered and jobs started being filled again after 2 years of low hotel activity.

2022-02-26The hotel itself is great and unique, but I have been dealing with the most frustrating reservations process ever in my traveling life! The hotel would not allow me to cancel when Covid interrupted my trip, but they did allow me to keep the credit for another stay, which is fine… however using that credit has been near impossible, and in fact they continue to charge my credit card even more fees without my consent. I spent an hour on hold waiting for help, and it never came through. It’s such a great hotel, but these customer service issues are impossibly bad and not worth it.

2022-04-07This is honestly a great hotel that had some hiccups that dont rise to the level of me giving it less than 5 stars. The fire alarm went off at 4:15am due to a false alarm, which isnt their fault. The lids for the coffee cups in the room dont fit the cups, which is just a minor nuisance. The room was small, but functional. Iron/ironing board was hidden under the bed to save space Im sure. I couldve asked, but I didnt. Just be aware. But the beds were comfortable and the entire hotel was clean and secure (key card access to everything, including the elevator). Good value for midtown, too.

2021-11-19This hotel is the perfect location for mid-town. The hotel is very clean, well maintained. The room was perfect for my needs. Desk with plugs for work and a nice comfortable king size bed WITH GOOD PILLOWS. It had two good pillows full that were great. Shower is nice and bathroom was clean. Overall was a great stay and I will be returning anytime I need to visit our NYC office.
