The cut was clean and nice he did exactly what I asked and I was happy with the overall product. The cut is a bit high for $30 but is worth it if you plan to get a good cut. There is also a punch card rewards so your 10th cut is free.
Great fade at a great price. Barber didnt rush the cut either, and worked to make sure everything was perfect. Honestly best cut Ive had in years. Exactly what I asked for by showing a pic. I believe my barbers name was Alan/Allen - he was a master of the craft. Also, barber didnt talk much which is honestly great - was able to just zone out during the cut.
Love this place, have been coming here for probably two years (and have gone through two punch cards in that time). It’s a great place for a haircut, plus they normally follow it up with a shave of the back of your neck and a hot towel. Will continue to be a loyal customer as long as I’m in the area.

The worst part about getting your haircut is when you show them a picture of what you want, but you get something entirely different. HOWEVER, this has never been the case here. These guys listen to what you want and follow directions great! Junior always does an amazing job. Great environment overall. I’ll never go to another place!
Today I walked in for a hair cut and a shampoo, have never been to this barber before. The service was excellent and the barber was very professional and patient. Clean, reasonable pricing, pretty much the best hair cut experience I have ever had. Highly recommended!
I just went today and Im very happy with my haircut. After waiting for less than 20 minutes, I got Junior as my barber. I showed him some pictures of last hair cuts and he got right to work. Took 20 to 30 minutes and I thought he did an excellent job. He had great attention to detail. I will be coming back to this shop for sure. Very good for the price ($25 for a mens haircut).

I recently discovered Excellence Barber Shop & Hair Salon when my two and half year-old sons initial haircut was botched by another barbershop. Junior was so patient and kind. He took the time to explain how to fix the initial haircut and then took additional time to explain each step during the haircut. The result was fabulous. Juniors expertise and attention to detail is very appreciated and I will definitely be taking my son back to see Junior when he needs another haircut.
Just moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a new spot. Happy I came across this place! Nina was amazing! Really took the time and attention for a great haircut and beard trim. Very quick too! Best price in the area as well, only $25 for a men’s haircut. The hot towel at the end was a nice touch. Definitely will be coming back.

I walked in today to have my haircut in this newly opened hair salon and i am so happy for the result. I live at upper west side. Salons in my neighborhood are either too expensive, or not worth the money. I decided to try this small but charming new saloon. My stylist is Nina and she has more than 15 years experience. I told her that i need to have a fresh look and also the new style should creates some additional volume as my hair is normally very flat and thin. The result is excellent. The price is very reasonable. They also have this cut 10 times and get next one for free promotion. So my husband can also use this card. Really a good deal for gentlemen or families. Anyways, i am very glad that i found this place in my neighborhood and would recommend people giving it a try.
Excellence is great! Everyone there is lovely and friendly. My roommate and I get our usual haircuts from Nina, and we always love the results. I decided that I wanted to try an undercut recently, and Alex did it PERFECTLY. He and Nina took the time to make sure it was turning out exactly how I wanted every step of the way. I’m thrilled with it! I love this place.
Absolutely fabulous service! Junior cut my hair perfectly, and I’m so happy I had the chance to have him do my last haircut before my wedding. It’s hard to find a barber who’s great at cutting women’s pixie cuts as well as men’s hair, but Excellence fits the bill!
We went in for our baby sons first ever haircut this morning (he has a full head of hair) and Johnny did an amazing job! He was really gentle and patient with my son and even though he was moving a lot, he gave him a great cut. There were no tears involved, which was a pleasant surprise :) At $20 its half the price of those kiddie salons and we were so pleased we gave a 50% tip 🙌🏼 Definitely going back for his next haircut and hoping Johnny will be around again!
Have now had three haircuts with Junior - all excellent. Reasonably priced, good atmosphere, clean etc. I am very happy to return there frequently, and to recommend it very strongly as a no fuss but very reliable local barber.
Recently moved from Orlando to Manhattan and was overwhelmed with the task of finding a great place to get my haircut. I decided to give Excellence Barber Shop a try and I am very thankful for this decision. A great local gem of a family run business in UWS! From the time I called to make the appointment they were extremely friendly and accommodating. Jr did an amazing job with my hair and listened to the instructions from my last barber that had been cutting my hair for the past 15 years. I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been in NYC for 6 years and never settled for a barber shop until I found Excellence this year. Always a great experience here, courteous staff, warm neck shave with warm towel after. Sam cut my hair in my first visit and he is wonderful, friendly, and had great technique. Junior, the young multitalented stylist, has a great attitude and good attention to detail. Nina is the most intuitive, hospitable, kind, and friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough! Short or no wait, quick but not rushed, detailed and feel-at-home atmosphere.

My first time here. I got an amazing haircut and it was a great price too. Sam was very professional and attentive to detail and took his time. I will definitely be back. Also, make sure to grab a card in your way out, the 10th one is free.
Junior may be the best barber/hairstylist I’ve ever had in NYC. He is smart, charming, generous, and VERY good at his job. I expected a typical in-and-out haircut and he made sure I was happy with his work, getting all the details and making suggestions, offering more service than I expected, and sending me off with advice and products for styling and treating my hair on my own. He’s really superb! 10/10 for sure.
Nina was such a nice and skilled haircutter. I was very pleased with my haircut. She even put a hot towel on my neck and it felt great.Some haircuts go a bit overboard, are too short, and need a few days to grow in. Others, quite the opposite: they dont cut enough, and you know youll need a new one in too short a time. This haircut had the best of both worlds. It looked great the moment the bib came off, and yet I know that this haircut will only get better with time.Do yourself a favor: get your hair cut at Excellence Barber. You wont regret it. I will be going back time after time, and I cant imagine ever tiring of the exquisite haircut that Nina was kind enough to give me.

I was in the area and wanted to get a haircut, and this seemed like the only place with a nice atmosphere, so I went here. The decor is modern and it is a brand new construction, opened in December 2017.Nina was very nice. She gave me a great haircut along with neck shaving and a hot towel. Would come here again.
I usually do not write reviews but this time I think it is worth it to let everyone know that this is an incredible place with professional barbers and hairstylists. My brother and me had great cuts done by Jonny! We both liked it and will be back soon.

Just went to Excellence for the first time, and Nina cut my hair exactly to my liking. It was quick (under 30 minutes), very reasonably priced ($25 for a mens haircut), and I plan to return with the punch card she gave me for my next one.

The staff here is super nice and can hold a decent conversation with you, no problem. The atmosphere is pleasant and the stre is well kept and clean. The fact that they take cards as a method of payment is a super huge plus. Im coming back here again when I need another cut.

The young guy really dont follow any instuction, even when I wanted cut just a little in the top, he cutted way more and he could not do a proper fade... my hair is just short, next time I would prefer cut it myself
I was walking by & noticed this beautiful chic Salon & I had to walk in & see what its all about .So happy I did . I met Albana as she greeted me like she knew me for ever . I loved it in here . So cozy & best part it was small & a one on one .I needed my color to be done & freshen up , as well as a cut . We spoke about my color & cut & i have to say she listened & did as I asked .She took care of me so well that gave me an amazing treatment for my hair as it needed . She also recommended a Brazilian blow out which was new to me . So I took her word & booked with her two wks later & I cant express how happy I am & how healthy my hair is .Albana my new stylist finally I found someone that understands me & my hair also recommended me to buy a package deal olaplex treatment . Ive been back few times now & I love how my hair feels & looks .... I was also told La kres is under new ownership & been in business for 6 months. Michael which is another stylist there had a client in his chair & us four just had an amazing time couldnt be happier walking in . Thank you so much La kres .

Barber shaved off part of my cow lick at the back of my head...it’s been a nightmare to deal with as the rest of my hair is a different length. And I prewarned him!! Haven’t had that bad of a cut since my 4 year old brother cut my hair, do not go here for a professional cut.

From Nina to her son...have cut my hair from being shaved to growing it out. Love that this barbershop has never turned me away...they are like family now. Professional and always find a way to accommodate you in the schedule.
Everything was excellent. They’re the only barbershop in the neighborhood that had 4 barbers so the wait was minimal. Great haircut. I sat in the first chair.

2022-01-18I normally get great cuts from here but one of their barbers seriously needs more training and finesse.Asked for a number 3 blend and a quarter inch cut from the top. Had a number of issues with the cut:1. Way too much pressure when using the trimmer. If you need to anchor your hand on my head to stop it from moving when you trim, that is definitely way too much pressure. Not to mention it felt more like the trimmer was being dug into my scalp.2. The sides were just number 3 all over with a taper to lower numbers. I asked for a number 3 blend up.3. Asked for a quarter inch to be cut off the top. Instead of a quarter more of a third or half an inch was cut.Overall still a decent place but this was not the greatest experience. For reference I’m showing the length of my hair before and after getting cut

2022-09-21I’ve been coming here a while but the service has gone incredibly downhill. For the third time, ive made an appointment only to have them take walk-ins first and ignore appointments. I waited over half an hour today and for the second Time,The same barber refused to listen and once again cut off more of my hair than I asked. I told him multiple times to stop but he kept cutting and now my hair is a good three inches shorter than I wanted it. Afrer two years as a customer, they lost me today.
