Exposure Therapy is truly AMAZING—a godsend and a huge part of my life! Everyone is so generous, knowledgeable, and kind, its an inspiring space to be in and the work they do is beautiful and indispensable. Highly recommend to anyone working with or interested in film photography!!
One of the few places in Brooklyn where I can walk in, I know the people who work there, they know my name, we can chat and catch up, and then I drop off stuff and I am always so happy with their work!Genuinely always such a pleasure to swing by, and getting the “your photos are ready” email is a highlight of the week
Been going here for a year now, love the prices, the portal they use, and how timely everything is, but most importantly the staff has been nothing but kind and helpful to me, taking time to teach me and answer all my beginner film questions without making me feel silly. very accessible and friendly! thanks!
I’ve had nothing but good experiences at exposure therapy. From the onslaught of my interest in film photography, they helped me purchase a camera, gave me tips on taking quality images, and reliably turned around developments/scans of camera rolls in the quoted time.
10/10!!! Love the team here! Super efficient dev/scans! If I have any questions about my camera, they are always willing to coach me. The energy in the store is so fun & supportive that Ive gotten more into my own photography since they opened. Worth going out of your way!
Very happy with the work done by this lab! Ive only ordered film dev since I do my own scanning, but everything I got back (whether C-41 or E-6) looked great. The lab seems to be quite busy, so it can take an extra day or two to get your negs back, but Im normally in no rush so this is never an issue. Looking forward to coming back with more film!
Okay I have been officially getting all of my films developed and scanned here for nearly 8 months now. Caleb and Drew are amazing, they never over charge for any gears or film and their develop and scanning services are amazing. This place is a hidden gem in the city.
Update*1. Walking in the shop it was uncomfortable. A whole bunch of people just staring instead of any type of introductory. It wasn’t welcoming. It felt like, why are you here type of feeling.2. I asked to just get some photos developed and printed. I did not want digital images for a reason. But was only offered that bundled optioned cause I guess it was easier for you guys.3. I shouldn’t have to go back and forth with your clerk and what I’m requesting especially if I know what my personal intent is and they do not.
I have so many positive things to say about this place!!! Drew and Caleb are amazing and kind, the turnaround is fast, the scans are high quality and the processing always looks great, invoice payment is very simple! My new go-to for film processing. They do amazing work!!!!
This is officially my favorite place to get film developed! They are nice, professional, organized and very affordable with a very quick turnaround. (unlike a lottttt of other places in brooklyn which can be kinda chaotic and tbh a lil bit mean sometimes) They also regularly update their hours which is great + they have dog treats and thats cute.
Went here to try them out on the recommendation of a friend. While their prices are a bit lower they took a couple of days to develop/scan. However, their service is atrocious. They threw away my negatives while they were on vacation and when I asked they said that its their policy while being nasty about it. A photo lab that throws away negatives as policy is a bad photo lab.
Super friendly staff! they also have an interesting collection of rare and unique cameras, also, they have some pretty rare and expired film too.staff are friendly and pretty knowledgable about cameras and film.inside the store is slighty cluttered, but i was told they may shut down for a bit so they can organizegets a huge thumbs up from me

2022-09-02Exposure Therapy is the ONLY place I get my film developed. I’m not gonna lie, I was really nervous when I saw their crazy affordable prices, but when I tell you that they do the best developing in NYC!!! It’s the only place I trust to develop my pics for work. And they truly have the best staff. Knowledgeable, friendly, funny. I even had them digitize my family’s childhood tapes and they did an incredible job. Absolutely thrilled to have found my forever film spot! The best in the game. 16/10.

2022-06-07Great quality, prices and customer service. Its clear the team at Exposure is passionate and knowledgeable. I once sent in an obscure roll of film that came back super foggy, and the team took it upon themselves to spend the extra time trying to retrieve any image from the digital scan. Plus the shop is dog friendly

2022-05-25Amazing addition to the neighborhood, friendly and knowledgeable staff, its very impressive what they are able to accomplish out of such a small space. I always feel welcome walking in and the shop always has great energy. They process, print and scan all types of film at very reasonable rates and with good turnaround times, in addition to selling a variety of brands, speeds, styles of film as well as thoroughly vetted used cameras. Whether you are a season pro or just dipping your toes into photography I can recommend Exposure Therapy enough, and cmon that name ;-)

2022-06-02I have frequented this shop since before moving out of the area and continue to make my way over to this lab. They offer fair prices and excellent work. Their turnaround times, especially considering the volume of work they get, are relatively quick as well. I couldn’t recommend this photo lab more.

2022-05-25This place is run by a bunch of very friendly, very welcoming, very communicative, and very skilled people! Dropping rolls off and having a chat is always a pleasure, and I’m always impressed by the quality and speed of their work. Sometimes I just message them for camera advice and they have been unbelievably helpful! Also an unexpected plus is the community that they cultivate - I’ve discovered so many excellent photographers through the work that they re-share on their Instagram.

2022-09-02Love this spot. Mostly. Even bought a dope little Nikon p&s camera from them once. They were super gracious and attentive to my attempts to figure out how to use it correctly. It’s not my fault Nikon put the lens so close to my thumb. My only issue with this place is they refuse to accept beer and ice cream in exchange for developing my film. I have tried screaming at them and flipping tables. But they will not listen. It’s weird because the people who work here look like they probably live on beer and ice cream. But nope. If they don’t smarten up I may be forced to take my beer elsewhere.

2022-09-04I just have to say I have never been MORE welcome then when I’m at Exposure Therapy. Both Drew and Caleb’s hospitality and knowledge of the machinery and developing I’m always guaranteed I get my film back super fast and easy. They are great at communication if there is a delay or even getting my film back earlier than expected. Incredible turnaround time. Also offers more than just film developing but can print your scans too for cheap. The cheapest and fastest place to get your film developed in the Brooklyn area. Been a happy customer for a long time and will continue to support for a long time. Also super queer inviting which makes it an A+++Update Sept 2022:Still the best. Thats it thats the review.

2022-05-06Re: Film Development ServicesTook them about 4 months to get my negatives back to me. When I called around the 2 month mark, the person I spoke to said something along the lines of they forgot and they’ll get to it when they remember to. Not in a confrontational way but in a very chill matter of fact way like this is common for them.Scan quality is not the best. I sent other rolls of film to The Darkroom (after the rolls in question here) that were shot on the same cameras as the negatives I sent here and The Darkroom quality was much better. If you’re looking for places to get your film developed, keep shopping around for a better place. There’s more out there than you think.

2022-05-25I walked in on a Saturday afternoon to get some old film developed.i shouldve known something was up when they didnt have any cash in the register. I payed $20 for 2 sets of scans which I received a $4 credit for the one they couldnt produce. Im all for communication which they did communicate that they couldnt process the first one and that theywould issue a credit of $4 so I cant understand why they would email me a link to scans that were barely visible. Ill post one of the scans. This place seems like theyre just around to make a quick buck. Even Walgreens lets you know when the photos didnt come out right.

2022-05-25Exposure Therapy and their community have generously nurtured my interest in photography. They are always down to answer any questions I might have, and provide helpful suggestions too. Their turn around time is prompt, the quality of my prints are awesome, and downloading my pictures is super easy. Thanks yall for all that you do!!
