Expressway Music is a terrific company, top to bottom, for handling your events musical needs. For our wedding in February 2014, my wife and I knew we should hire David and his company after our first interaction. He had been recommended by a friend who had hired David for his own wedding, and he (correctly) told us that we couldnt go wrong with a DJ who has David Bowie and Outkast album covers on his office walls. He was right.David and his staff (who were always professional, courteous and helpful) set the tone perfectly right from the moment we sat down for our first chat. He understood our rather diverse musical tastes immediately. He let us think through each section of the wedding day and what kind of mood we were hoping to set. And while he encourages a limited number of requests, he is able to perfectly read the crowd to get or keep everyone dancing. He also goes the extra mile, as we had selected for our first dance a song that we could only find online, in a live performance YouTube clip. He cleaned up the track and made my wifes day as she got to dance to the perfect version of her favorite song.I cant recommend Expressway Music and David Swirsky highly enough!
We had a fabulous experience with Expressway Music from the first conversation over the phone. David made it clear he works within your vision and will ensure the perfect event for you. In our case, it was a bat mitzvah. Janine as DJ (I couldn’t give a more glowing review) two dancers, a photo booth, pop a shot, and airbrush were our selections, but the people are what makes it work. They kept us on track, making sure each detail to put on a terrific event went off flawlessly.
We couldnt have been happier with the music and the wonderful energy Dave brought to our wedding! Dave helped me achieve my goal of getting every single guest on the dance floor-including a 95 year old and an uncle who had never danced before in his life! Dave had rave reviews from all of our guests-young, old, in between, and self proclaimed music critics. Everyone loved him. We cant wait for another excuse to have a party to have Dave back to DJ.
David and his team were amazing. The music was just the right volume for our crowd and people were up and dancing. He was very flexible and work with us to understand our needs. We provided a number of Spotify playlist which were incorporated at the right points throughout. When we needed something (to add some extra MCing during the hora, to change the music) the response was always immediate. Davids motivator Sean was a powerhouse. And the team together worked with a rather complex script we provided to run a Spotify-playlist-driven name that tune connected to a Web-based app projected on a screen - and they pulled it off flawlessly.
Google does not provide enough stars to give proper credit to Dave Swirsky and Expressway Music. Five stars doesnt do it.When I started planning my daughter Julias bat mitzvah party over a year ago, I swore that we would not have a DJ. I have had so many miserable experiences as a guest at mitzvah parties (and weddings) where the music was deafeningly loud, so loud that the walls and floor seemed to vibrate and you couldnt have a conversation with the person standing right next to you unless you literally screamed in their ear. I have been to more than one party where I sat there with earplugs, unable to socialize or enjoy myself or even hear myself think. So when Julia expressed a wish to have dancing and games, initially I said no. I said no the second, third, and fourth times she asked as well. Finally, I began to worry that she wouldnt have fun at her own party and agreed to look into finding a DJ that both kids and adults alike might enjoy. I was skeptical, to say the least.Fast forward to November 18, 2017, when Julia and our guests -- kids and adults alike -- had the time of their lives thanks to Dave, who was our DJ, and the incomparable Alberto as emcee. Dave has an uncanny ability to read the room, play music that will be fun for all the guests, and meet the hosts goals and take the hosts wishes into account. I honestly wasnt sure how this was possible, but he did it. It takes enormous talent and sensitivity - not to mention good taste - to accomplish this, and the experience was so amazing that it far surpassed anything Id expected. The music was at an appropriate volume so that people could dance and enjoy themselves, but also so that people who werent necessarily dancing could enjoy themselves as well, whether at the bar, in small groups of people having conversations, etc. Alberto the emcee just charmed the kids with his sense of fun, creative games, whimsical dances, and more. He was so much fun, even adults joined in. (Yes, I tried to limbo!) When both your 13-year-old daughter and your 81-year-old father are raving about the entertainment at your party, you know you found the right talent.From the time I started my initial search for a DJ to the date of the party, Dave and his wonderful assistant, Charissa, were professional, responsive, courteous, thoughtful, and kind. They addressed my questions, listened to my wishes and concerns, put my mind at ease, and treated me with the kind of professionalism one can only hope for when planning a big event. Charissa also put together the most delightful photo montage of my daughter for our guests, unfazed by my requests for last-minute changes to it.Planning a party like a mitzvah or a wedding is a substantial investment financially and an even greater investment emotionally because it celebrates a milestone of enormous personal and cultural significance. My daughter was so proud of what she had accomplished in preparing for her bat mitzvah and could not have found a better way to celebrate than with music and dancing guided by Dave and Alberto. I honestly dont think I ever saw my child so happy. As a parent, ones happiness is often determined by the happiness of ones kids. That was certainly true here, but not entirely, because I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the moment as well and will remember it all for a very long time. I am really grateful to Dave and his colleagues and cannot recommend him highly enough.
David and his team were great to work with for our March 2014 wedding. Our wedding guests loved the music David played (as did the bride and groom!) and danced the night away! Additionally David and his team were extremely responsive and professional in all of our dealings w/ them. 100% recommend!
I have used Expressway Music for a variety of events, most recently for a diverse group of more than 600 people of all ages and cultures. The DJ and the Karaoke services are stellar -- always arrive early, top-level equipment, and friendly DJs who make each person feel like the most special person at the event. I find the DJ becomes representative of the people who throw an event, so its such a relief to have Expressway Music as our totally reliable partners.
David was an amazing DJ! We wanted someone to provide our wedding with a fun soundtrack without all of the DJ hype and with David, we got just that. All communication with Expressway Music was so easy, professional and most importantly stress free. I would highly recommend them!
Dave was AMAZING!!! He played the best music at our daughters 18th Birthday Party. We were totally blown away and so were our guests!!! We couldn’t have asked for anyone better! He was wonderful in every detail. We cant thank you enough for making the party a huge success!!!!

And as I hope you recall, I told you I am poor at distinguishing music I love from music that other folks love to dance to. Youre great at it. In fact, I had told our friend in advance that Erasure Give a Little Respect was a complete party dud. You showed me wrong! And Once in a Lifetime -- I love the song, but Id never have recommended you play it!Consider us not only satisfied customers and future clients, but also true fans. You were great.
We really enjoyed working with DJ Greg. Expressway Music was very easy to work with and very responsive. We discussed our preferences with Greg and he created exactly what we wanted. Some of our international guests asked if he was a celebrity DJ!! We highly recommend using Expressway Music for any events.
Ive booked Expressway Music for my companys annual holiday party (roughly 150 people) for many years. They make our event! From the professionalism of the office staff to the wonderful DJs (David is THE BEST!)--they are a joy to work with soup to nuts. Thank you, Expressway, for always turning up and turning UP.
David Swirsky is absolutely the best! He was the DJ/entertainment guru for our son’s bar mitzvah in January, and I only wish that we had known about him for our older child’s bat mitzvah four years ago.Really anything you can imagine that your kid might want or you might want he can arrange for you, if not personally provide. You can hand it all over to him and he’ll make it happen. He’s reasonable, friendly, funny, sweet natured, and bright. A real find.I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Ive worked with DJ Dave and his team many times over the years, and they are consummate professionals. They always run a great party and play fabulous music. From beginning to end, Expressway is a class act and highly highly recommended!
We had DJ / KJ Roberta and her equipment manager (her husband) for Karaoke at a birthday party. She was nice and had a lot of energy. Three observations1) They were 30 minutes late (minor hiccup)2) Her husband has the discipline of a zen monk. Once he saw alcohol at the party, he was set for the night. Even if there was Fallujah happening outside the window, it couldnt distract him.3) The microphones were not charged. That was a bummer. The first few songs, you couldnt hear anything. Then we waited 5 minutes before each song for charging time. Last 30 minutes of the party, they worked perfectly. My advice - please have wired microphones as a backup.
We had Expressway Music DJ my daughter’s birthday party and they got everyone dancing. They were so professional and fantastic to deal with. We would use them again and again and definitely recommend them.

2022-06-01Going into our wedding planning process, music and the dance party were top of mind for me. I had a vision of all of our friends and family mingling on the dance floor and we needed a partner that was going to make that dream come true. Working with Expressway Music and DJ David was a top-notch experience and he made sure that our party was everything we wanted and more. From our first call, David brought a personal touch to the proceedings and truly sought to understand what we were looking for at our wedding. Expressway Music isnt just limited to music, as he was also able to bring a photo booth, which was a hit with all of our guests throughout the entire night.Davids planning portal and process helped us to maintain the level of control over the music we were looking for, while also relying on Davids years of expertise throwing the best parties. We were able to indicate which songs were a must, which were a maybe, and which we definitely didnt want to hear. From there, during our final planning meeting we went through these selections so that he could craft the final product. And it worked out perfectly -- our dance floor was never empty and our guests left raving about how good the music was and how much fun the photo booth was. If youre looking for a professional to bring your event to the next level, we highly recommend Expressway Music.

2022-07-06DJ Dave and Marcos were outstanding! I needed a Karaoke DJ for my sons first birthday party and we all had a great time. Dave is very professional and accommodating. The party was 5 hours and a mix of 100 adults and 30 kids ages 4-7. The DJs did a great job of blending songs and activities with kids while keeping the adults dancing and singing too. He even set up a big screen to play our slideshow and display the karaoke lyrics for the crowd (which was a big hit.). Highly recommended. Would definitely hire again.

2022-02-08What a treat working with Expressway Music! We were working on a tight budget and reached out and initially couldn’t afford the first DJ but then Dave worked with us and found someone who was willing to and let me tell you, DJ Sergio was a freaking hit! Everyone was raving about him after the reception! Sadly, being the bride, I was in an alternate dimension because of adrenaline, so I barely remember anything from that night but I do know that he was prepared, communicative and so fun! He checked out the space a week or so ahead of time too which felt reassuring to us. He even played a song (or two) after the last song (and the party had ended) because everyone was having such a good time and wanted it to continue! I really can’t express how many guests told us how great and fun DJ Sergio was , after the day was done. He also had a ton of profesional equipment and we literally didn’t have to worry about anything. Expressway also has a client portal to upload music which is nice! There was a 50 song limit which, of course, makes sense because that’s a ton of music but I wanted to add a million lol. Regardless, he picked great music and it was a blast!!!

2021-11-23David did a great job as DJ for our party. From the beginning, he listened to what we wanted, made good suggestions and put together a nice play list for candle lighting ceremony and was did just the right amount of directing the party and hands off to let things develop. Would highly recommend him and his service.

2021-10-13DJ Dave is a rockstar! I recently hired Dave to be the DJ at my birthday party, and I couldn’t have been happier. When we were first looking in vendors, I reached out to a few dj’s and spoke with them. They were all very nice, but I felt most confident about DJ Dave and his commitment to customer service. He was the first to respond despite his very busy schedule and also had a warm and friendly persona that made me want to work with him. He listened well to what I was seeking in terms of music etc, and he followed up to check that things were going according to plan. He also did not hesitate to offer his professional opinion on what he felt would work, and it turned out that he was right on all counts. He knows his music and can read a crowd that can only come with years of honed experience. The party was a blast thanks to his contributions. Would not hesitate to hire him again. You should hire him too!!

2019-11-15Everyone knows Music makes s Party.A bit unconventional ... however, being familiar with DJ David (owner) I checked his availability for a special private party before booking the restaurant and ordering invitations. I reserved my date with Expressway Music 9 months in advance. I was thrilled evening of the party! He arrived early and sublime music played as guests entered. He reads a crowd well and plays music that inspires everyone to dance. I gave him my music wish list a month prior. He played them PLUS gladly accepted requests. My 29 guests said they couldnt remember the last time they had that much fun and they LOVED the music. I believed them.All I wanted to do, on my Birthday, was Dance. Thank you SO much David - you are a diamond in any haystack and a blessing to anyone lucky enough to have you make their musical event Spectacular!

2019-10-15I cannot rave enough about David and team. My husband and I just got married at the Harold Pratt House and David absolutely nailed it! He listened to exactly what we wanted and put together playlists that far surpassed my expectations! He had our guests dancing all night long and everyone has been singing his praises! Music was very important to us at the wedding... David delivered and made it the best part of the night. I need to throw another party just to hire him again! 2018-09-24My wife and I hired Expressway Music to DJ our wedding and they brought the whole event to the next level. Dave kept people on the dance floor all night. His ability to read the crowd and remain flexible in choosing songs ensured that our reception was a true party - I’ve never seen so many people constantly dancing at a wedding until ours! He was extremely receptive to our personal tastes in music and was happy to take song requests in the moment, which also made our guests very happy. There wasn’t a moment in the night where an unpopular song was played and the transitions were so natural that we barely noticed them. Everyone should hire Expressway Music for their next event - they will make it truly memorable.

2013-10-13The absolute best DJ in the world. David made our wedding a dream. I had guest from 2 years old to 90 years old and every person was on the dance floor! There was laughter and dancing and every special moments to the next was covered by either my requests or Davids judgment and knowledge of music. He did my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. His prices are great, he works with you, he knows music, he kept in contact with me and made sure everything was perfect. I just cannot stress enough about how good everything was. My wedding was amazing and I highly recommend you to go with Expressway to have the same enjoyable and memorable experience.

2019-05-09A week after my daughters Sweet Sixteen and her friends are still raving about the entertainment at her party! The teenagers were so engaged in the music and karaoke. They were still going to the end! David took the time to understand my daughters musical tastes, the crowd and the feel we wanted. This individualistic approach makes him very special. I would hire him again in a heartbeat! Shout out to his amazing staff as well!
