Fabrics Save-A-Thon in other cities:
I asked a guy at store to cut the fabric for 1 yard. There were 2 yards left and he told me he can’t cut it because it’d be one yard left so I either have to buy 2 yards on my cost or change my mind to different color.I was so puzzled and told him that it was sold by yard and why he can’t cut it.He started yelling at me, “My boss needs to make money, I can’t leave one yard left on roll! My boss needs to make money!! Go choose the different color!! That’s not my policy but my boss needs make money!”Man, your boss making away too much money than you expecting.Horrible service.
Its been here forever and ever and ever it has the necessary but can def use a huge upgrade lets just say its your grandmas go to for everything sewing reasonably priced and somethings are to expensive u can def find them way more inexpensive else where but if your nosetalgic and old school its the place to find some craft necessities and sewing goods
I love the store and go here before I go to Michaels. I just started a small business of making beanies, flower crowns and the like. I try and go to this store before checking any other store for products. This is the only location that I found large pom poms that are actually cute and stay in place. The staff is quite friendly and the store is relatively empty so Im not too worried about bumping into people are checking out items for way too long and having to move out of peoples way. Ive gone on different days and in different times in the week and I could say that the staff is normally friendly no matter the day or time.
I frequently shop here for all my Crafting supplies. The prices are far better than Michaels.Diya LISTEN UP ! I found the perfect fabric to make a reversable Duvet cover AND a great coordinating fabric to customize the lampshades to match. All the supplies are here for prices that cant be believed. Great big Leather pelts for less than half of what it costs in the fabric district. Upholstery and Dressmaking fabrics too! Cushion fillers, Buttons for childrens garments, everything without being overwhelmed. The staff is always friendly, the music is always upbeat and unlike other stores, they actually WANT to hear about what youre creating and love photos.A great place to shop!
Awesome store! Awesome staff! Yes some of the prices are a little higher in comparison to Michaels or such. But youre in Manhattan. Thee most expensive burough to live in. What do you expect? Overall, I love this Save-A-Thon even if Im cheating on the Brooklyn & Queens one with them 😂.
Its an okay fabric store very fast in all of their items being that this is the flagship store I expected more customer service and that the front desk girl would know that there is pattern paper for sale but the manager informed me that there was and it was Kraft paper? I would think a Fabrics of the stature should at least carry actual professional pattern paper? Maybe Im Wrong. But I was impressed with the fact that they have classes in the back and I actually might be interested in taking part in one.
I absolutely love this fabric store. I decided to make a lot of things myself with my friends for my babyshower and I was able to find everything i needed. I wasnt knowledgeable on getting fabric by the yard so I probably spent more than necessary. Make sure you go in with a clear idea of how much fabric you need cause then youll be over or under guessing. The second floor is dedicated to yarn, wedding decor, party decor and baking.
Nice craft and fabric store that has withstood the test of time. Its nice to see in Spanish Harlem. The products are a little cheap and the store is a little dirty. Would rather make the trek to Michaels Arts & Crafts on the west side or the garment district for fabric. If youre local here, its nice for emergency craft supplies.
This use to be the best store. Theres more yarn than anything else. The owner delivered old dusty baskets, and a dirty hamper type thing, to put products for customers to purchase. This store needs serious remodeling. Place back the products to give customers variety. Its unorganized, and the products that are there, they never keep up stock.Bring back the vases....wall decore....candle holders like before. PLEASE remove the yarn from the front and put in the back, organizing it better, keep up on inventory, dont drop off dirty products to sell and please fix the floor and clean it.
Large selection of fabrics and machines, and about enough on smaller things like art supplies. They have a very concret set but nothing too fancy which is what I hope to find everytime I go but end up leaving with a standard sketch book. Not dissatisfied because the paper is nice but really wish they had hard cover sketch books or I might not be looking close enough. They have a nice selection of canvases from small 9 by 11 inch to so much larger. The prices on these I believe to be very appropriate for a canvas. Customer service I believe to be exactly what you need. I dont really focus on attitude too much because people are different and they may have something going on personally (this goes for every store out there) as long as they answer my questions and get me what I need Im perfectly fine with that and every time I go they do just that. Overall, this place is great just wish they had the store hours on this but you can call and ask them if theyre open and their hours and theyll tell you right away.
They have two floors and the second floor is only accessible via stairs so that if you have bad knees use a walker or wheelchair or have a baby stroller you are out of luck. The store is not very well organized some sewing trims are on the first floor while others are on the second floor. They have pattern catalogs but very few times have the actual pattern. A big number of their sewing machines are refurbished. As the only textile store around the neighborhood its okay. The associates are nice.
I dont like Save A Thon mainly the one at 3rd Avenue between 104th and 105th Street. Their fabric is super mega ugly and there is this rude old lady who works there and had a problem with me buying elastic since Ive been buying elastic from there and had the nerve to almost deny me service until I told her I wasnt there just for elastic. Dont bother going to the Save A Thon at 3rd Avenue between 104th and 105th Street. They stink!!!!!!!!
Nisha R. Makes coming to Save a thon, pure joy.I am very impressed with her professionalism. Save a thon is the best place for crafts. The employees are very helpful and the sewing classes are top notch. The store maintains an easygoing attitude. No huge lines. Cheap items.
Not accessible for the disabled. Im wheelchair bound and when I wasnt, all of the amazing things they have are upstairs and I always purchased something. Great place for cloth, yarn, sewing classes, interior design but... Damnit - I wish I could go upstairs again. Get an elevator or a chair lift, people!! 😕😟
A good find! In a city as busy as NYC, it is difficult to look for that proverbial ‘needle in the haystack’! But, in this shop you will find all kinds of needles, wool, cloth, buttons, threads, embroidery threads, et al! What an Aladdin’s cave, full of treasures. It is one of the few such stores left. Great for all those who love knitting, crocheting, embroidery and other crafts. Oh! In case you need stitching classes, this is the right place.
The staff is rarely knowledgeable on the products, and had to wait for the manager or owner, Robert to finish his phone conversation to be helped. He even proceeded to doing other things after he hung up, knowing very well I was standing in front him waiting to be helped.
This place scams old people out of money! They made my grandmother pay twice for a maintenance service. The first time they never fixed it and when she took it back they charged her again after the lady had told me that she wouldn’t have to pay if she presented a receipt. DISHONEST COMPANY DONT TAKE IN YOUR SEWING MACHINES. GRANDMAS BEWARE!!!!!

2022-07-10A local haberdashery with half of what you need at twice the price. With no competitors in the area, ...good luck! Employees, although clueless, are both friendly and eager to offer help.

2022-02-03Great selection of fabrics, not so great use of space. They could easily move everything upstairs and offer classes and workshops on the first floor.
