Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York ManhattanFifth Avenue in New York
Pros: Hot water very responsive. AC. Free breakfast. Free wifi. Tolerably clean. Shower is nice. Blackout drapes (no sunlight). Nice staff. LOCATION. PRICE. Armoire. Iron.Cons: Room door is RIGHT NEXT to another rooms door. Wall shakes when someone goes in or out. Breakfast area temperature ambient with outside air (was 30-40F). Bathroom door makes it awkward to properly use sink. Bathroom is small in general. AC blower vent is dirty. Furniture slightly damaged. No soap in shower.Meh: View (buildings behind the hotel). TV. Fullbody mirror. Desk. Coffee maker. Lights. Sound from other rooms. Must order house keeping. Small drawer night stand. Mattress. Pillows.Considering the price and location, this is a good hotel. Maybe there is better for the same price but I dont know if it would be worth searching for.
I stayed here because of an appointment I had nearby. There were several hotels but I’ve stayed at other Fairfield Inns and they were good value for money. This was not one of those. I am a gold Bonvoy member At checkin I received no acknowledgement except I was given the smallest bottle of water I have ever see. And just one. In the first room I was given, the locks on the door were clearly broken and had been tampered with. I called downstairs but got no answer so went back down and was given another room The second room the lights were not on and I couldn’t figure it out. I called downstairs and no answer again. I called the front desk with my cellphone and got through. After 10 minutes they sent 3 people up who showed me the “discrete” light switches hidden on the bedside lamps. The room was still dark but better. I was running late for a meeting so I left the room. I arrived back late that night and realized that the room was less than agreeable. The light revealed stained carpets, stains on mattress protector and wallpaper that has seen better days. The bed was sagging and the room AC was crazy noisy. It was very late and I had an early appointment so I gritted my teeth and put my AirPods in to try and get sleep. After a terrible nights sleep I took a decent shower (good power and temp) but the toiletries were a joke. Mismatched shampoo and conditioner and so small that I am lucky that my hair is exceedingly short or it wouldn’t have worked. I didn’t try the breakfast. In these Covid times I know how hard it has been but even more do that maintenance and upkeep of a hotel is of top importance. I won’t be staying here again
The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating to my requests. The rooms are small but really only slept and showered there. The “free” breakfast was just okay, not much of a selection. The car service they use, Chief Limo, I would not recommend using. I would search for another service.I would stay there again, the price was right and great location.
Clean and affordable (relative to other mid-tier, budget hotels in NYC). The room I received was slightly cramped and I was able to request a refrigerator. The staff is kind and helpful. I wish the TV was larger. I was going to give 4 stars due to the room size (about 125 sq ft) but they constantly have snacks in the lobby which is a nice touch.
We booked this because it was centrally located to many things we wanted to do during our weekend in Manhattan. The location was very good and the staff were very nice and helpful. But the room was not in great condition. The bedsheet was not the right size. There was no soap. The room was not as clean as it should have been. Also, we returned to the room one afternoon for a break and a maintenance person knocked and wanted to come in and check for a remote they had left. This was really bizarre as there had not been anyone in the room, at least there should not have because housekeeping was only by request on certain days. We checked with the front desk and it was legitimate but we didnt appreciate being bothered by an odd request. The room was extremely small which is to be expected but had not been updated in a long time. Overall, it was not a great value despite being in a good location.
The staffs helpful and friendly nature and cleanliness of the hotel is above and beyond. They take good care of the guests and are very helpful. Although I wished they have better options in breakfast and maybe a mini fridge or microwave in the room but apart from them the stay was very pleasant .
I was looking for a place for 4 and most places could only accomodate 4 people you rent 2 rooms. Found double beds and booked it.Also, I wanted a location that will allow me to get to the spots I wanted to visit.I wasnt worried about dining because many spots around to eat. When I got to the hotel Chi fil a on corner and Dunkin Donuts near by. In front you have a great steak place Frankies. This hotel was a good spot, it was close to Times Square and the Empire State Building.
The hotel where I normally stay wasnt open for guests yet. This was my first time staying at this property and I found it to be a pleasant experience. The room was comfortable, street noise was to a minimum. The area had quite a variety of restaurants, shops and bars available. There was even a church within 2 blocks. The bathroom was tight with the door butting right up to the sink and your shoulder rubbing against the vanity when you used the toilet. No housekeeping was offered during the stay due to Covid concerns. The to go breakfast was adequate. The staff was very personable and friendly.
I never stayed in the city when I lived here decades ago. Having only 24hrs, I decided to treat myself. The price was right, room was clean, the location perfect! An easy walk to/from Penn Station or Grand Central with a carry-on. Im so happy I did it and will definitely be back!
Location is in a super convenient spot - on 37th street; between 5th and 6th The front desk staff we met was very helpful and accommodative. Breakfast - is free but frankly not edible - cold and poorly made Size of the room is about that of a shoe box- I have stayed in Marriott’s all across NYC- this is a shoe box compared to Manhattan standards. Also shower/ toiletries are minimal. It’s like they are on a bizarre saving spree - although prices are not so cheapI won’t be staying here again. Would not recommend anyone else should.
NY rooms are small but this one is too tight. Had to remove a business chair in order to access the night stand light. And when sitting on the chair, you are stucked and will not be able to move around. I am medium built (size 8) and toilet is so snug. This room could have worked like other NY hotel rooms with correct size furniture (even the bed!). The worst part --- reusing ink stained sheets!!! In this day & age you expect a pristine room even if it is small, since it is all about safety and cleanliness! As a Titanium Elite member, I have been fortunate to always receive an upgrade without even requesting, but this hotel did not even bat an eye & says nothing is available when I requested upon check-in. Had to request complimentary bottled water and re-iterate a few times of a late check out intent. If not for location, definitely will NOT be back at this hotel!
They ran out of shampoo and conditioner. When I called down to the front desk, the response was “you can use bar soap”. When I suggested that someone go to a drug store and buy some for us, they refused. When I asked for a rate discount given the fact that basic shampoo and conditioner are basic services included in a hotel fee, they refused and said that I was confused. I’m not confused. When I pay for a hotel room, I pay for soap. I also asked for extra pillows, they are out of those, too apparently. In addition, this place dilapidated, the food included in breakfast is disgusting. Service is terrible. This place is a mess and a joke of a hotel. Marriott should be so ashamed. Do not stay here!
This place is good, kept clean, and is in a great location where it doesnt get bright or loud at night but still has a lot around. The rooms are very small but it serves its purpose- a clean place to sleep and shower. Other than encountering the first really rude & attitudey front desk Marriott employee Ive ever met (after staying at lots of Marriotts -some multiple times I know their standard of customer service) I would still recommend.
Convenient location. The two ladies at the front desk were extremely rude. The “manager” was Ann and she was horrible. They charged my card twice after I had already prepaid for the room. It is not mentioned anywhere that there is another deposit on top of paying for the room separately. My bracelet was stolen out of my room after I accidentally left it on the bed. I called to retrieve it but Ann told me it wasn’t there. She said she would have a report made but I highly doubt she made the report as I have not been called back about it. The two night time men we encountered were awesome and very accommodating. Wouldn’t recommend staying here, for this price you can stay at a better Marriott/hotel in the area.
Excellent staff who were very helpful. Because of covid the room service was only 3 times a week but that is understandable. You could get fresh towels and other items by asking at the front desk and they would gladly assist. The breakfast was the same each day and was a to go bag with a muffin , apple , cereal , granola bar , yogurt , orange juice and milk. Nothing too lavish but gets you to start your day, so pretty good. Tea bags and coffee packets were available at the front desk 24*7. Only drawback was that the room with 2 double beds was very small for 2 people, personally feel the room is more for 2 people rather than 4. Overall couldnt complain at all, very warm and courteous staff and the location is prime (7-10 min walk to times square)
Location is perfect to explore 4 boroughs. Hotel is clean and staff is excellent but room and lobby are small. Hotel is just for sleeping and bathing. Skip substitute grab-and-go subpar breakfast and find a place for real food. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. We spent all of our time not sleeping out of the room. Room too small to even watch TV comfortably at night or in morning getting dressed.
Front desk staff very accommodating with my requests.Used the car service that was recommended by hotel, I would suggest using a different company. The driver and vehicle that picked us up from airport was good but the return to the airport was horrible. The driver did not speak English and the car was FILTHY
The room was very small. There was no place to even place a suitcase and I had to prop it up on a small dresser and the bed. Furniture is battered, closet door not secure. While clean, there was only soap and throw away cups in the bathroom. Requested cleaning service within the limited service provided but the cleaner said I was not on the list. Staff are very friendly.
I have stayed at this hotel several times. Very centrally located. Front Desk Staff is very friendly and helpful with any issues. Rooms are clean and well stocked. Despite COVID restrictions (no daily housekeeping and only a To-Go breakfast) this hotel is a great choice while in NYC.
Not our favorite stay. The staff was super nice and helpful. Our room was super small and it smelled musty. Two adults and a child and we had no where to store our suitcases or clothes. An extremely narrow closet. We left our suitcases at the foot of the bed and had to walk around them.
I could not be any more happy with the service provided + the hotel in general. The location was perfect, the room was comfortable, everything was clean, and the people working at the hotel were all courteous + nice. I would definitely want to stay at this hotel again.
I would highly recommend finding another property for your stay in Manhattan. Overall, the hotel falls far short of Marriott standards - the bathroom was so dirty that we showered at a friends apartment, the room had holes in the wall from unfinished drywall repairs and the bed was like sleeping on a plywood board.
The hotel was super clean and updated. Room was clean and tidy and the other areas were very well maintained. Every person was nice and attentive, like they meant it, genuinely. They were helpful with directions and great recommendations. They even surprised us with a bottle of wine and a nice note for our anniversary. I was very impressed. Very happy to stay here and I will do so next time I visit NY.
The customer service was fantastic! From the front desk to the house keepers and let’s not forget the breakfast team! They were so kind and accommodating! Upon arrival, my boyfriend and I were given a smaller room and we requested something bigger. They did what they could to accommodate our needs. The room was much bigger and clean upon arrival. The only con in regards to the room is that the walls are very thin and we could hear everything next door. On the last day, we requested a late check out and it was granted to us with 0 problems. At the end of our stay, we switched out credit cards to charge the bill and had some issues, but thanks to Keisha, she worked diligently to fix all errors. The hotel is close to the metro and just a short distance from Times Square. Great place to stay for a short stay in NYC.
Breakfast service is still non existent, i expected better post pandemic. the property is showing its age with closet doors that didnt want to close and the main door that was too heavy for my wife to open. The air conditioner rattled so sleeping was difficult. Im sure Marriott has better properties in NYC to stay at.
This hotel suited our needs perfectly. It’s central location made it easy to walk to many points of interest, and was situated near two subway stations. The free breakfast helped us cut down on our costs and start our daily explorations without having to search for a place to eat. The room was spacious and clean, and above all the staff was extremely friendly and polite. Also, we loved the flavored waters in the lobby!
We had the best experience at this Fairfield Marriott for our first trip to NYC. When we arrived we expected that we would have to check our luggage and return later for room check in but our room was ready early. They had a refreshment station every afternoon with drinks and snacks when we would arrive back after our trips to the museums, or statue of liberty they always had a little pick me up snack for us. The included breakfast was great with scrambled eggs, waffles, toast, muffins, fruit, juice, coffee, sausage, etc. The best part was the teamwork of the staff was evident, areas were clean, staff had a smile and made you feel welcome. They went out of their way to ensure that we knew what subways to take to the theatre at night and gave us directions and suggestions to great restaurants. Everyone from housekeeping to front desk staff was friendly and professional. Rooms are small but clean, would be great if they had a fridge. This was excellent value for the money with included breakfast. We were able to walk or take the subway to all major attractions with ease, within a few blocks of several subway locations. Easy walking to Broadway, Macys, Empire State building, and times square.
Excellent location and very good staff. Breakfast was very good with enough choices to meet our needs. Tasted great. Hotel is clean. Rooms are small, but typical from what we researched for New York unless you pay a lot more money. Would recommend this hotel as a place to stay. Close to Penn Station and maybe 10 minute walk to Time Square. Very reasonably priced.
Had a family member stranded in NYC with very limited resources and non-English speaking. Not only were arrangements made for me to cover all costs from another state, but sensitive to his situation, breakfast grab and go was held at the lobby and phone numbers were provided for ordering dinner in. Thank you Ken and Ayn for your quick response to help, wonderful recommendations for food nearby and being not only patient but very sensitive with our needs. Including allowing for late checkout since the bus trip out was later in the day. Couldnt have asked for a kinder, more experienced team to turn a difficult situation into a great day in the city!
Came from Cali for a funeral for a week! Worst experience EVER!!! I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! Girls at the front desk were extremely rude and checked me in without charging my card..then when I got back from the funeral locked me out of my room because THEY never charged my card...so I was stuck for a hour dealing with that after attending a funeral and a redeye flight!!! Taking this to corporate as well at this point! Definitely NOT worth your hard earned money! Extremely small rooms..completely outdated...and felt itchy like there were bedbugs in the most uncomfortable bed!
Covid-wise, one cannot enter without a hotel key card or a printed reservation. Front desk personnel were delightful, shout out to Ayn. Neighborhood not bad, close to Macys and Empire State Building. The bedding was soft and comfortable. TV a bit substandard, but viewable. You wont be able to stream Netflix 4K content on their screens. Bathroom and shower were clean and pretty spacious considering the size of the room. The small complimentary breakfast is ok, we got cereal, apple juice, milk, and a small tangerine bowl. For the price, this a great place to stay.
While my last visit in the month of June 23.Hotel is near to all attractions of New York.Breakfast was not available and was on go and repeated the same menu for the whole weakened. There you have to asked for everything if you wanted soap, shampoo, milk for breakfast u must go to counter and beg them for few things. No room makeup done in 5 days of stay while after the notification to the reception.Rooms are too small.
I was requited to be in the city in the depths of winter to attend to a death in the family and attendant issues relating to it but the staff was very gracious and attended to every request made of them. A particular act of kindness on their part was especially appreciated. they were informed of the circumstances of my trip and graciously under took to provide me with a meal delivered to my room without my request (theyd been tipped off by a friend) and refused to accept any compensation for their random act of kindness! when I attempted to repay them, they feigned ignorance of their unsolicited act and refused compensation. The staff are aces in my book! The amenities are no doubt limited by the exigencies of the pandemic but the location just 2 blocks off Herald Square in midtown ensured all I needed was within a short walk of the hotel as is all forms of mass transit.
I was very pleased with my overnight stay. The lobby was small, but this was a very nice property. It was very clean and updated. The room was nice, with plenty of well placed electrical outlets for plugging in devices. They have an arrangement with a nearby parking lot, so it only cost me $30 for overnight and all day parking. The breakfast was almost perfect. There wasn’t ice water readily available, but everything else exceeded my expectations. And all the staff were polite, professional and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Small not much amenities but so close to our function definitely worth it. Two front desk clerks. One male. One female seemed to work all shifts the thursday to Saturday that just past and were awesome. Breakfast to go was cereal, muffin, juice or apple enough to get you going. For hearty just walk over to the avenue.
This hotel is the best. Staff outstanding can’t do enough for you and totally no attitude. The free breakfast if your not from NYC you have no idea how much this would cost and so many varieties to choose from. Hotel clean. Every afternoon they put a treat out for you. I come to NYC from Denver I stay in one hotel and it’s this one. They have great referrals to just about anything you need. Oh and the price is more then fair considering there location close to everything. I totally recommend to stay here it just a comfortable and great place.
My fiancé and I spent a weekend in NYC and chose this hotel and would most definitely recommend and stay at again when we come back into town. As a Marriott member, with the use of the mobile app, I was able to check in on my phone without having to go to the front desk (although staff was present and very friendly). The app becomes your mobile key to get in and out of the room. The room was very clean and just what we needed, considering we spent most of our time around the city. Breakfast was impressive. Everything was clean and everyone was friendly and accommodating. Will stay again.
I booked a King Size room, we got a Queen sized bed and the room was so small you had just enough room toWalk around the bed. The bathroom was small, the room was outdated and no modern charging options for electronics. Not impressed, would not choose to stay there again.
I needed a spot close to the diamond district and chose the Fairfield. While the rooms are small, the accommodations were quite good - clean bathroom, hot shower, pretty good free breakfast. Walking to my destination each day was easy and safe. Everyone I encountered at the hotel was professional and helpful, including Rebecca, James and D’Shawn. Others were also kind and helpful, I just didn’t get their names.Dinner options include fast takeaway and nice restaurants. There is a Wholefoods grocery not too far along with nearby drug stores. My best dinner was at State Grill & Bar located at the Empire State Building, three short blocks away. Delicious!
The rooms are too small not enough space to hold open a carry-on bag and do some desk work. Air conditioner compressor is too loud, soap/shampoo/conditioner are of low quality, room cleaning services were offered only 3x a week not daily and bathroom was also too small.
Loved the location. Hotel was nice and quiet. Elevators were quick. Breakfast room was nice and food offered was typical of other hotels. Room was good but bathroom was small with small vanity. Probably typical of most N.Y. hotels I would think. Bed was ok. Would definitely stay here again.
We booked two rooms on very short notice (30 minutes before we arrived). The booking process was easy, the staff very accommodating, and the beds comfortable (although the rooms are very small). We are extra picky about cleanliness and it was up to par. The breakfast was good and they do have internet access. We had a very positive experience!
Close to everything. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and staff are awesome!Highly recommend but would advise to get a suite or upgrade for a larger room.Keep in mind, you are in the Garment District, close to (walking distance) fabulous fabric stores and supplies for those designers with impeccable tastes at reasonable prices.
This hotel is in a great location, nearby to subway stops and walking distance to shopping, tourist sites, Broadway shows, and Madison Square Garden. It is well maintained, has an excellent breakfast, and is very reasonably priced. The icing on the cake is the staff. Every employee we encountered were warm, patient, and clearly ready to make sure our NYC experience was pleasant. This will be my own go-to hotel whenever in the City.
This location was perfect for us. Walking distance to Times Square, library, Empire State Building, and much more. We took the hop-on hop-off bus which had a stop close to the hotel which was nice. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was pretty good. Check out was easy and we were able to use their car service to get to the airport for minimal cost. Just make sure you tell them ahead of time when the car service should be there. The only negative was that we had a king size bed in the room and it was a little bit cramped. But it worked just fine for what we needed it for. Highly recommended!
This hotel is one of three in a row done by Marriott on 37th Street. Its right across the street from lots of good food including Frankie and Johnnies Steakhouse that provides excellent food. The staff was terrific they greeted us well. The complimentary breakfast was above average and the staff was way above average. Our only disappointment was in the size of our room we got a one king size bed room. There was very little room to walk around the good news is that were not huge people but the room left very little to the imagination and was engineered to optimize space within inches. Like any great hotel room, they all look the same when you fall asleep but if we had thrown one more person into that space, it would have felt quite cramped. For the price, the value is in the location not in the size and comfort of the bedroom.
The staff were the only thing fantastic about this location. Ayna (probably spelled wrong) she was super helpful upon my arrival the room was super cold and just not warming up properly. I was just going to ignore it thinking maybe it will get warmer eventually, not only did she go out of her way to call and see if the room was getting warmer and it wasnt so she personally brought a new room key so we could move. The room temperature was much better !! Thank you for that extra touch of going the extra mile. The room was smaller than expected from the pictures but we didnt spend much time in there anyway. But it did the job. Location is great, near Times Square and Subway. Bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size for two people. Love that you can stream Netflix.Only suggestion, ask guest upon arrival would they like maid service the entire stay or not instead of having to remember to call 24hr in advance to confirm maid service. Also get familiar with the area to guide guest where to go.
Thank you for asking for feedback about my stay this weekend. As a Platinum Marriott member and a crew member at A major US Airline, I get to stay at a lot of Marriott properties. I will detail this stay below for you.My wife and I arrived Friday afternoon and the room we stayed in, 605, was waiting for us. The staff was friendly and courteous. I asked if there were any room upgrades available and was told there was not. I accepted the keys and went up to the room. Upon entering I immediately ran into the bed as the room was extremely small. The room itself was clean. I looked for a place to put my suitcase and there was none. I placed it on the bed to unpack just to find out that there was not one drawer in the room to unpack my things into. I opened the “closet” to hang my things just to find that it had room for 2 shirts, maybe, without completely crushing them. So after being frustrated I decided the best course was to take one outfit out per day, hang it up and place my suitcase on the floor in the entryway while my wife’s suitcase had to end up on the shelf that the coffee pot was on. This created a very unpleasant stay. We were not able to use the shelf for our personal things, (IPad/phone etc.), and every time we left or entered the room the door would slam into my suitcase and not open completely. We had to squeeze into and out of our own room. The tv in the room had about a 3 inch scratch on the screen creating a dead spot in the picture. There was a compete set of towels in the bathroom with the exception of wash clothes. Only one was provided.Overall the property was nice and I understand the restrictions on space in Manhattan, but this room was completely unacceptable. It reminded me of a maids closet that was retrofitted into a place to sleep. Maybe if there was only a double bed in there and a dresser it would have been better. At the very least you need to provide a place for people to put their suitcases, a foldable rack or something. Would I recommend this property for someone in the future? Maybe. Only if they do not get the small rooms we were provided. Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you.
The hotel is in a great location. The staff were all amazing, so friendly and accommodating. We felt we got a very personal experience with them remembering us throughout the stay. They upgraded us and helped my partner with a proposal he mentioned to them. The rooms are quite small so made it a little difficult with arranging luggage with a young baby. The room was clean and well maintained.
Great location. Clean hotel. The front desk staff, Noel is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. He always has a warm smile on his face. Whenever we arrive at the lobby after being outside, he would ask how our day went. We appreciate all his site recommendations as first timers in New York, they were all great! My husband loved the free coffee and my son enjoyed the free breakfast.
This hotel is in a good location for tourists. Clean and modern. Bathroom was a bit small but everything worked fine. The free breakfast of a small selection of cereal choices, yogurt, toast, bagels, muffins, powder mix egg, meat patties and fresh fruit ( only if you are early enough) isnt anything special but is nice to get you on your way in the morning. They offer free pre-made coffee and tea in the lobby all day as well. The front desk staff are really helpful. Overall a great hotel that I would happily stay at again.
I had the pleasure of being a guest at this hotel recently. From the moment I arrived and met the always effervescent Daniel and delightful Sasha, I was impressed. Sure the lobby had some construction going on but my welcome far overshadowed that small detail. I arrived in my room feeling warmly welcomed and was happy to see the room was clean and updated with free wifi. Imagine my excitement when I pulled the curtain back and there was the Empire State Building! The location of this hotel is accessible to many sites (I am a native New Yorker) as well as modes of transportation and shopping. The free breakfast was excellent in a newly remodeled area with beautiful art and zen waterfalls on the walls. The breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful hotel with great amenities but what clinched it for me was the staff.I stayed three days and when I checked out (where GM Michelle sat with me at the tables in front) I felt as if I was part of the family of this hotel. Every staff member I encountered besides those already mentioned, Henry, Thomas, and Josie as well, made sure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They all went the extra mile to ensure I would wish to return in the future and I do.
Whilst slightly underwhelmed by the size of the room for the money paid, the quality of the staff made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were the real highlight of our stay. The hotel is quite small with seemingly only 6 rooms per floor. The room size is very small, even for 2 people and hanging.drawer space was severely limited. The room, however, was clean and tidy and presented well. No view to speak of (rear fire escapes of the neighbouring building), but we werent in the room that much in the daylight. Bathroom was also small but the shower was great. I am not a fan, however, of the amount of water in toilet bowls in the US!Internet was a good standard and the complimentary (?!) breakfast was adequate to start off the day. No restaurant on site but as the hotel is on W37th/5th Avenue, food is in abundant supply nearby. To sum-up, good location, small rooms, good breakfast, good internet, 1st-rate employees.
The overall experience was far above what I expected, considering the listing price of the room. The location was super convenient and safe, with tons of restaurants and shops in that area. The room was not big but comon its Manhattan. Did I mention the complimentary breakfast was actually pretty good? I mean, regular items, but fresh and good quality. This place is highly recommended! Will definitely come back!
Great location close to 5th Avenue with walking distance to both subway and Penn Station. The staff was really nice and helpful and the room was small but clean and well maintained. The only negative thing was a very noisy air-conditioning. The complimentary breakfast was simple but really nice. The wifi in the room was also great.
Room was clean. In a nice part of New York, and close to many sightseeing locations (i.e., Empire State Building, Time Square, etc,)The staff were very polite and understood if your flight arrived early on the day. I would try an accommodate and get a room sooner; however, if they could not, they would hold your bags while you explored the city.
Stayed here for 4 nights on our 30th anniversary trip to New York. We are very familiar with the city and have stayed at several different properties. This hotel ranks very high, especially for the price range - not exactly cheap but moderately priced. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean and efficient, amenities are terrific - free breakfast and internet, and the location is close to the heart of Manhattan, subway and other transportation access. Well definitely book this hotel for our next trip!
My stay was ok comfy beds. it was quiet. Bit small but that how it is for nyc. Breakfast was really good and filling. The price was a bit high but the location its what sold me. The only thing i can complain its the attitude of one of the desk people. She wasnt welcoming to me and my family and gave us weird looks but the other guy who took my info was nice and welcoming.
One of the people at the front desk was nice and welcoming. He accommodated my request to check out late to the best of his abilities. I like that they hand out a little welcome bag with spring water and snacks when you check in. I also like that the breakfast lounge is kept open throughout the day. · The microwave in the breakfast lounge is FILTHY. They should replace it immediately. The room was a little too small. Granted its midtown Manhattan, but still, Ive stayed at other hotels with bigger rooms. The person who checked me in, did not give me an invoice nor did she tell me that theyll put a hold of $50 on my card. She was not welcoming at all.
Staying here for 5 nights in late September 2019, I really liked its central Midtown location. Halfway down 37th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue, it was surprisingly quiet in the hotel in spite of the hustle and bustle on the busy avenues nearby. The staff were all very professional and pleasant. The contemporary design elements of my room and the comfortable king size bed were also appreciated.
What an exceptional hotel. Thanks Front Desk staff for your exemplary customer service. Thanks for allowing us an early checkinyou really made our day. Thanks for assigning us a nice room although we got a special rate. And, the breakfast and customer service was outstanding. The General manager seems to train and inspire the staff to focus on the customer. I will stay at this hotel every time I visit new york.
Enjoyed my stay here and will be back. Great staff - everyone we interacted with was warm, helpful, polite and professional. We got great service and value for spend. Loved the view of the Empire State Building from our window. Great location - a few blocks from Herald and Time Square. Many restaurants and other stores on the block.
Spent a week in New York and stayed here as recommended by a friend. Hotel is centrally located in mid-town near may shops, restaurants, Times Square and the Theater District. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Daniel at the Front Desk did an excellent job on the check in and recommended Tony DiNapolis for dinner which was outstanding. Ana has very helpful upon checkout. Rooms are small, but very efficient. WiFi was very good and room was clean and smelled fresh. Bed was excellent and AC in the room maintained a cool temperature. Bathrooms are small, but just the right size for us. Water Temp and Shower was excellent. Breakfast had a well stocked selection of foods. Attendant was helpful and had a positive attitude. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
I took a group of 17 Girl Scouts and parents to NYC, and we stayed at this hotel. One room of our five was not ready at 4:30 pm, but they got it ready quickly after. Overall great place. Perfect for Girl Scout groups as the GS HQ is in the same block. Helpful staff, good breakfast, near subway. Staff gladly held our bags on the last day while we were sightseeing. Overall super experience. Recommend!
This hotel is in a good location to walk to places, shopping and getting to Subway. Rooms are smaller than Im used to but that is why the prices are lower than other area hotels. NYC is not the lowest cost hotels. Breakfast is very good but sometimes had to wait for refills on the hot food. (Maybe because the food was good and people took a lot) Parking nearby and rates were very reasonable for the city. Overall, not a bad value for the price but if youre looking for romantic, shell out a few dollars more to get larger accommodations.
In this economic climate, with families struggling to make ends meet, I was notified by my credit card company that this hotel (or someone who works the front desk) charged my credit card 4X for the same reservation within a 12 hour window. My credit card company representative assured me that it would be handled on her end and even apologized for the stress I was dealing with from Fairfield Inn. I have my final bill in hand with the correct billing and I’m ready to dispute the continued charges. Perhaps there was a computer glitch. However, I drove home to Georgia fearful that I’d be too far to really make a solid complaint and be certain that I’d get my money back from Marriott/Fairfield Inn.
We chose this hotel for its location and it did not disappoint. It was central to every place we visited. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was amazing. They were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for recommendations for restaurants and each one they gave us was superb. The complimentary breakfast was excellent with a wonderful assortment - everything was fresh. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to everyone.
Overall, a good experience. Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. Rooms are a little small, but I expect that in NYC. Our AC broke but after two calls, they fixed the issue well. The one big issue I had was the room cleaning, which was inconsistent. Sometimes they wouldnt come until 5 or 6 PM. And they often did not leave replacement toiletries and towels so we ran out. It was surprising to experience given the usual quality of this chain. But overall I liked my stay.
SMALL. I mean, REALLY small. No place to put our suitcase. No drawer space for folded clothes. However....with that said, the bed was great, the TV big and enjoyable, the room was clean. Once we got past the size and jumping over each other and the suitcase, the room was very nice.Now...the great stuff!! EXCELLENT BREAKFAST!!! Amazing! They even had Soy milk for the Starbucks coffee!!! And the coffee/tea stay available all day! 2 days we were there, they had special appetizers in the afternoon - Tequito Tuesday, and Wings Wednesday! How awesome! They also had some nice lime water available in the lobby. And, even tho they dont have a fitness center on the property, they are affiliated with a nice gym about 4 blocks away. Really nice stay for the money.
I have been staying here for the past few years and this hotel is the best place to stay in NY! The staff from the front desk to the people preparing breakfast to the maid service and the engineers are amazing! They are all so courteous, kind and respectful-they make your stay more than a stay, but a truly fabulous experience! And the breakfast is so delicious and so well labelled and organized-its better than a restaurant and they offer healthy options too! The hotel is conveniently located close to Bryant Park, the Empire State Building, Times Square, Broadway and more! This hotel has it all and it is always wrapped up in a smile from all the people who work there. I cant wait to stay there again! Pure relaxation and joy! Thank you to everyone who works there for make this more than just a hotel, but a home away from home!
We stayed for 4 nights and were pleased with the price, location, and amenities. Rooms and bathrooms were a little small, but this is not unexpected in Manhattan. Close to Times Square, 5th Ave, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, theatre district. The breakfast selection is great and the staff keep the area clean and well stocked. The staff were all very friendly. Our room was clean. Overall, it was a great experience for the price.
Rooms are extremely small and I had 2 requests that I called them with a week before my visit - vegan breakfast options and extra pillows in our room. Neither request was met. Very disappointing. 😟Update: Our stay is over. This was not a great hotel. The sink in the tiny bathroom was cracked, the air conditioning did not work properly, the pillows are TERRIBLE, and the room itself is extremely small. Even though the price is lower than many others, I spent a lot more on food because there is no way to have simple snacks in your room (fridge, microwave...) and, as stated earlier, they did not provide anything Vegan for breakfast, so we went out every day. Its also in a little less desirable area and the staff is just OK. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.
Check in staff was rude. I am an Elite member and have stayed at several Marriott properties but the check in lady has not interest in welcoming guest. Room door is not fixed properly and I could see through the door into my room from the hallway. This is a first for me and of course there is no sound insulation. Room is extremely small and so is the bathroom. Not worth the price and definitely not what I expected from a Marriott. Very disappointed. One thing I will say is that it was clean and they did accommodate me for a late check out request so if you get a cheap price and need a place to stay for one night then this will do.
As in other reviews, I will reiterate that the rooms are small (4 to a floor), but they still have all the amenities you should need. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful and readily available to provide restaurant suggestions, directions, etc.The complimentary breakfast was limited, but sufficient (eggs, muffins, sausage or bacon daily). Overall this was a very good hotel for the price in a great location. We had a view of the empire state building which was amazing!
I love staying here due to the proximity to work office during visit. I have to rethink my visit next time when I’m back in NYC. The power going off at night in the room was to much for me. Reminded me of my old apartment when the power tripped when the AC was turned on.
Our group had a good stay at the Manhattan/Fifth avenue Fairfield. Everything was great except the check in process because the reservations were not accurate - even though I had checked all of them online that morning. The staff was very helpful, respectful and I appreciated their help. They were very friendly and went out of their way to help us. The room was wonderful and was clean and warm. The breakfast offerings were great although the breakfast area was freezing. It was a good stay for our trip to NYC and I would stay there again.
The room was small but functional and was perfect for a place to crash after catching the Yankees game. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient, all facilities were clean. This is a great location near times square but off of the main strip which makes it a bit quieter. A nice retreat from the chaos of the city. There are decent restaurant and bar selections nearby, and you can also get discounted parking at a garage that they partner with a few blocks up. No frills but a good, reasonably priced option for the area.
Dumpy, tired lobby. Room was rundown and deadbolt didnt work. Bed was comfy, tho. But what was most disappointing is that they made no effort to encourage mask wearing or social distancing. I saw just one staff member with a mask. Zero signage other than one about vaccine mandates for NYC.
Good business hotel in a good mid-town Manhattan location. Rooms clean and comfortable, very small bathrooms but well appointed and clean.Friendly and helpful staff. My room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and when I reported it to the front desk, they were very responsive and every effort was made to mitigate the smell. Unfortunately cigarette smokes permeates everything, but the actions of the staff, definitely made it smell better.Good breakfast selection with plenty of hot coffee. Comfortable eating area and attentive, friendly staff.
We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites overnight for my daughters sweet 16. Rather than having a party she chose to bring three friends into Manhattan to stay the night of 12/09/17. The 5 of us had 2 rooms right next to each other. The proximity of the hotel to everything we wanted to do was fantastic! Close to Times Square, Rockefeller Center & Bryant park we were able to be anywhere within an 8/10 block walk. We had dinner at Tonys Dinapoli which was also within walking distance and I recommend as well. The rooms were clean, the shower was fabulous, plenty of towels, beds were very comfortable, even the pillows were fantastic! The added bonus of a continental breakfast and a later checkout (noon) really made the stay even better. I very highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to be in the heart of everything. The ONLY thing I would tell a visitor from out of the area is that there is not a view of anything from this hotel. Its nicely tucked on 37th between 5th and 6th.
We enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield. Breakfast each morning was great with wonderful selections. While our room was small, it was cozy. We did get creative with the space available to place our luggage and hang our clothes. We were very creative! The shower was nice and large, the bed was comfortable. It was perfect for a 2 night stay. They stored our luggage since our departure was late evening.
Good value, awesome location but could use updating! This hotel is central to time square and convent to restaurants, convenient stores, shopping and activities. We walked most places during the day and ubered at night. Staff is very friendly especially for New York. Hotel is decent quality could use refurbishing. For this reason I would not stay here again. It is small. There is another marriott right next door, I would probably try that one.
The room is small but clean and the staff Marriott level friendly and professional. The property is a bit old and shows its bones but at the same time, the management has obviously gone to pains to make it modern and maintain the building and space, all quite challenging in such an urban environment. Each floor only has about 6 rooms so its quiet and quaint. The bed was on par with all Marriotts, which I look for since sleeping is a challenge to say the least when traveling.
Great location. Efficient and nice staff. Very cleanGood breakfast, Starbucks coffee in the room.BUT: very small closet. It was barely OK for the few summer clothes I had. I would not have been able to tu but winter clothes in the closet. No in-room safe (I put my belongings in the safe at the reception desk). My room was not cleaned on my last day. I could get shampoo and body lotion at the reception desk. But no cleaning on that day, bed not made. Too bad!
If you are looking for a clean and quiet place to stay with free breakfast look no further! This was my first visit to this particular Fairfield Inn and it was a great one! Staff were very helpful and assisted you when needed. This is a great location for those visiting the city - Times Square is right around the corner...but not too close so it is very quiet at night - you could have heard a pin drop. This will be my new favorite place to stay!!
I stayed at the hotel for just an overnight to celebrate Australia day at the bar one block over. It was clean, cozy, convenient, and quiet. I had a great room with a king sized bed and a full bathroom. I didnt have time to use the shower, but I wish I did. The staff was friendly and understanding, and helped me with any questions I had. Honestly 10/10 would stay there again
I had mostly positive experience at this hotel. The location was convenient. The staff were helpful and friendly. They made my stay enjoyable. I also liked the variety of foods at the complimentary breakfast. The best thing was that I was there to run the New York Marathon and on the morning of the race, there were goodie bags filled with snacks given to all the runners. I thought that was a thoughtful and caring gesture.
Overall, I was pleased with my stay at this hotel. Good location to dining, shopping, site seeing. Hotel needs a bit of an update, but overall its clean and well kept. The hotel room was a good size, slightly small but updated bathroom. My biggest complaint was a very noisy heating/AC system that didnt allow me a good nights sleep. I would stay here again due to hotel convenience.
We spent 6 nights in a King room at this hotel. Overall our experience was good although the room was a little small and closet space restricted. Facilities at the hotel were good- breakfast included was also very good and varied. For a longish stay the size of the room is a disadvantage .
The staff was so helpful, and genuinely cared whether or not we enjoyed our stay. Danny has the best recommendations for dining around the city, and a wonderful personality that made it easy to ask for advice. From front desk staff, to cleaning staff, to maintenance staff, you could not run in to someone with out being greeting with the utmost courtesy. Its a very small hotel, but the space is utilized exceptionally. Free Starbucks coffee and tea was perfect to grab as we headed out into the chilly city. The hot breakfast was a pleasant surprise, well stocked, and very convenient. Walls were think, so we never heard any noises from the surrounding rooms. We had a wonderful stay, and would most certainly go back.
I enjoyed my stay from 12/26-29/17 with two teenagers. Good location. Generous free hot breakfast buffet in a.m. and free hot/cold beverages, incl. hot chocolate and water bottles available all day. Free WiFi. Only 6 rooms per floor-very quiet. Do NOT be tempted to go to Frankie and Johnnie’s steakhouse across the street from hotel—go instead to Ruth Chris’ steakhouse or the Capitol Grille 6 blocks north of the hotel.
This hotel was relatively clean, but that is about all positive I can say about it. The staff was not personable, the hotel room including bathroom was very tiny. The hallways were tight. The food was reasonable; however, there was no fitness area even a few treadmills. The gym that was accessible was several blocks away from the hotel.
Hotel rooms and lobby are small, but the room itself was quiet and comfortable, and perfect if you spend your time sightseeing and little time in your room. The location of the hotel more than makes up for the room. They must have soundproof walls and windows because it was very quiet at night and no problem sleeping. Could not believe we were in downtown Manhattan looking at Empire State Building at night. Hotel is close to Bryant Park, Times Square, Herald Sq. and shopping district (Macys), Rockefeller Center, etc. Staff at front desk and dining area were excellent. One big downer for me..... I could not get an answer as to why the TV cable service did not carry the YES station, home of the Yankees and other teams when I wanted to watch the end of a ballgame after getting back from sightseeing, dinner, or theater. Made no sense given that they had many other channels and streaming service (Netflix etc).
The staff at this hotel were amazing! Very friendly! Lots of smiles and friendly greetings. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect! Very helpful. All hotels should offer this level of great customer service! Nice hotel. Convenient to theater district. Reasonably priced! Will definitely stay there again!
I found this Fairfield Hotel was as expected (which is a good thing), but remember you are in NY - the rooms are small. The location is great if you are looking for a generally good area in mid-town. I was surprised that no fitness center was on-site. As an alternative, it was nice to be able to use the Blink facility only a few blocks away at no additional cost - just stop by the front desk and they will provide a pass for the day. The included breakfast in the morning was presented well with a nice selection of breads, eggs, bagels, cereals and coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay as well.
My wife (8 months pregnant) and I were warmly greeted by Drew, the front desk manager. We had a difficult trip in from Philly and my wife was exhausted. Drew was able to get us an early check in, so my wife could lay down and rest.Upon entering our room we were pleased as the room description was spot on.We noticed the sink not draining and we made the front desk aware. They had a handyman up to our room within minutes to fix it. The hotel was right on the Thanksgiving Day Parade route, the main reason for our hotel choice. They handled the crowded area very well. Only allowing guests to come and go so the lobby would not get overcrowded. This also made my wife feel safer knowing we would not have to run into any riff raff.Again Drew was accommodating, we requested a late check out. The front desk was knowledgeable and helpful with information about the local area too. We would definitely stay hear again.
I enjoy staying at this hotel because it is convenient to Grand Central/Park Avenue area and the staff is friendly. I also like how it is easy to get in and out of, as opposed to overly larger hotels. My room is always clean and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is good and always consistent in quality. Overall, I recommend this hotel, as it is excellent for my business travels.
Had a wonderful stay. Check in was smooth and easy.Daily complementary breakfast was great. A variety of choices to pick from.Housekeeping was used twice on our 5 nights stay. Coming back late to a clean room is the best...Check out was quick and you can store your luggage after check out to do your last time shopping. Will totally stay here again.
I was only there for one evening, but the experience was perfect. Easily one of the most comfortable beds Ive ever slept in (including my own), and a lovely hot shower that never quit. Just what I needed after the day I had.The breakfast service in the morning was also first rate, and only exceeded by hotels Ive visited with full restaurants in-house. Calling it a Continental Breakfast is an understatement.
The staff at the hotel are AMAZING and treat the hotel like a 5 star resort. Some short coming in house keeping but other than that, you will love this place. Great location, the room services the purpose, the breakfast is good. Claire and Keisha make this hotel better! Thank you ladies for a wonderful visit with the hotel!
Overall decent stay for two nights. The only problem I encountered occurred when other guests were slamming doors late at night and in the early morning. The hotel is so small and the hotel room doors are so close together which caused big interruptions with sleep. Several times I thought people were trying to get into my room because of the closeness of the doors. The room was clean yet small with a comfortable bed and good tv. Its a decent and very close location between Fifth Avenue shopping, Empire State bldg and Macys Herald Square. Rockefeller Center is about twelve blocks away/less than a 20 minute walk. Times Square is a short walk away too. If a good room rate is available then I could consider staying here again.
My wife and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue on April 19, 2015. I am a Marriott Gold Rewards member, so I did mobile checkin around 9:30 AM. When we arrived at 11:30 AM, our room was already available, and we were assigned Room 1602. This room has a city view, and it faces the Empire State Building. The room was clean, and the noise level was nonexistent. The king bed was very comfortable, so my and I had no problems sleeping that night. However, the room was very small, so at times, I felt cramped. The closet was situated at the end of a desk and next to an end table, so I found it difficult to put items in the closet. In addition, the bathroom was tiny, and I had a tough time maneuvering. Furthermore, the wifi speed was only average. There was a breakfast included, and there was more than enough food to satisfy ones appetite. Moreover, the location of the hotel is ideal, and it is within easy walking distance to many of New Yorks key attractions. I used mobile checkout, so checking out was a mere formality. Despite the small rooms, this hotel does serve its purpose, and I recommend it to anyone staying in New York City.
We enjoyed staying at the hotel. The location was near enough to Times Square that we walked. It was clean, had the amenities we needed, and the breakfast was a bonus. No reason to go hungry as there was adequate selection (eggs, bacon, cereal, yoghurt, etc.) We enjoyed having fresh coffee and iced water available at all times, especially after a long day. The room was quiet, no noise through the walls. The elevator was reasonably quick - we didnt have much wait time. The window opened a bit for air if we needed it and we had a view which was a pleasant surprise. Also we had fun trying to guess the color of lights on the Empire State Building when we exited the building at night, since the front door faced the ESB.
When looking for a spring break hotel in NYC, I happened upon this Fairfield Inn. While I typically prefer to stay in the Times Square area, I couldnt pass up the rate on this hotel, so decided to give it a shot. The staff was very accommodating to get us an adjoining room with the friends we were traveling with. While the rooms were small (typical size for NYC!), they had everything we needed. Ad added bonus was the morning breakfast which was a big money saver in NYC. The hotel was centrally located to everything we wanted to do and we enjoyed the cookies, water, hot chocolate and coffee that was provided in the lobby. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
I normally stay in higher-end Marriott properties (especially Renaissance brand) because my office pays for the hotel room, but this was a personal trip so I based my stay solely on price ... and found a little gem in the center of Manhattan.Great location on 37th St between 5th & 6th Aves; central to sites, food, & shopping, yet on a quiet street.Comfortable bed, clean room / bathroom, hot water, and fantastic A/C (it was hot & humid 3 of the 4 days of our stay). Yes, the rooms are small, but its NYC where real estate is at a premium, so what do you expect? And who spends all their time in the room, anyway? Ignore the complaints about the tiny rooms; its what you will find all over Manhattan unless youre willing to pay 6x more for a suite at an upscale hotel. The best feature of this hotel is the staff - super-friendly, helpful and respectful. Every one of them! Highly recommended. I would book at this hotel again without hesitation.
Good morning.Fairfield Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue, also sending you pictures of the duvet on my bed. everywhere there is some kind of stain, dirt and it smells strong. I will definitely post a review on hotel.com, facebook, instagram and yelp. also I will never stay in this hotel chain again
Daniel at the front desk is a great guy. All of your staff was excellent and really cared about our stay.I would suggest that the hotel needs some maintenance. We were upgraded to a suite based on our platinum status. When we arrived in the room, the bathroom pocket door was off the hinges and the whole mechanism hanging from several screws in the ceiling. Were were surprised that the housekeeping staff did not catch this and repaired before anyone used the room. Also, the HVAC was not functioning properly. Overall the room was tired. The front desk immediately moved us to a standard king room and it was fine. Did notice again that it may be time for some property improvements.I cannot stress gain how great the staff was.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites on 37th and 5th was a great hotel with friendly staff, clean facilities, and easy access to all attractions. My daughter and I had a fabulous trip to NY and the staff at the hotel helped in any way possible to answer questions and offer suggestions. Their location was perfect for getting around via walking or the subway! Will definitely stay again.
It was a great experience. I chose Fairfield Manhattan/Fifth Avenue because of its location and its good value. I think it’s located in a perfect location. Easy to walk around the Times Square and Fifth Avenue or take other vehicles to many famous scenic spots in Manhattan. Convinient to go some shoppings. I think the hotel and the room are just in a little tiny size. But it’s clean, quiet, bed is comfort and has good services. I’ve got a room which has a nice view of seeing the Empire State Building . That’s may be another reason I’d like to choose the hotel. Breakfast is one of my most favorite part of the hotel. Has various kinds of food, fill the foods in time, have a lot of funs with making waffles and especially the 7/12 coffee bars, sweet for customers.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for a Valentines Day/Anniversary gettaway to the Big Apple. We would definitely stay here again! The staff is wonderful. They were always were smiling and asking us if we needed anything. It was convenient and nice to have free breakfast and internet. The location was perfect with some very good restaurants right on the same block or around the corner. It is convenient to Times Square and subway access is just a couple blocks away. The only downside to this hotel is that the rooms are EXTREMELY small. There really was not even anyplace to put our suitcases. We made the best of it though, and since we were only in the room to sleep, this was not really an issue for us.
The rooms are small but the customer service is outstanding. Everyone was super nice and extremely accommodating. I went out one day and it looked as though it might rain, I went to the front desk to find out where I could purchase an umbrella. Margie at the front desk went to the office and handed me an umbrella to borrow. When I returned the umbrella, she informed me that it was her umbrella! Everyone was really nice from the breakfast help to the front desk staff. I will return to this hotel when I visit NYC again.
We stayed here for a couple of days at the beginning of the month. We came to New York for a graduation celebration! It was a great location and the water in the lobby was well needed after a hot day in the city! The people were really nice and rooms were super clean! I enjoyed this stay and would come back definitely!
The location of the hotel is in the heart of the city with access to major tourist sites. The folks at the front desk are very helpful in answering questions and helping us check in. The folks in charge of the morning breakfast were extremely helpful in making us feel at home and ease. Breakfast served was excellent.Parking is a big headache in NYC but the hotel stamp gave us more than 50% discount to park at a nearby valet parking. All in all, we had a fantastic time during our short stay at this hotel. We definitely plan to consider this again during our next visit to New York City.
Its a gem! I traveled for many years to NYC & the Fairfield was at the top of my list for stays! I have recently retired & was please to see how the Fairfield has updated but remained so friendly & customer oriented! The lobby & breakfast areas look great! Breakfast offerings were excellent - enjoyed cold & hot options! Staff was engaging and extremely pleasant!
Whenever I come back to NYC this is my favourite place to stay. Great location near many attractions in Manhattan, with an easy access to public transportation. The staff is very kind and willing to accomodate all our requests. The room is neat, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast with variety of assortments. A complimentary 24hrs coffe/tea available.
We ended up at this hotel last minute after having to leave another hotel in NYC because of rude staff and dirty conditions (mice)! This hotel is in a great location and staff was beyond helpful, accommodating and extremely pleasant! Our room was clean and perfect for what we needed! Breakfast was included and they serve cookies in the afternoon! I would highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to NYC for leisure or business!!!
All was great, but if youre staying for over a week, theres not enough dresser-drawer space to put clothes in. Also, there are no luggage trays, so you will have to live out of your suit cases for the entire period. You will have to reach to the floor each time you want to get close out. The closet and nightstand drawers simply do not have enough room to put all your items. (if that is important to you). Otherwise, the staff was great and the breakfast was too. However, the breakfast room was extremely cold. Bring a jacket while you eat.
Amazing location, extremely good value for money, excellent breakfast, really friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are quite small ( Though it is a standard in NYC), the nearby construction site was a little bit of nuisance, but luckily did not start too early in the day to disturb our sleep.
We had a great stay in the Fairfield Inn and Suites in New York. It was a great location for the Macys Thanksgiving parade. The room was clean and enough for our purposes, though a fridge in room would be helpful. The bathroom was a little tight but useful. The shower was half of the bathroom size with good water pressure. The breakfast was good. The water and coffee available was appreciated. The storage room for luggage after check-out was convenient. The staff was helpful to navigate the subway to get us places quicker.
Ill try to keep this brief. 1) If youre planning on using the breakfast services and you dont want to grab food and eat it in your room, stay somewhere else. The breakfast area is cramped in a little nook that only fits one or two people at a time and theres no seating (its grab-and-go only). 2) If you want privacy when you go to the bathroom, stay somewhere else. The bathroom door is glass and, although frosted, it doesnt provide much privacy. If youre staying alone, no problem. If youre staying with someone else, you might find it uncomfortable (we did). 3) If you want a clean bathroom, stay somewhere else. The shower head in our room was caked with black mold/gook That must have built up over a long period of time. I would have complained and gotten it cleaned, but I was so tired for our entire stay I didnt notice until the last morning and, at that time, it was too late. Which brings me to my last point, 4) if you want a good, quiet nights sleep, stay somewhere else. They say construction noise will only happen between 10am and 5pm...except when they wake you up with the loud speaker and fire alarm tests at 7am. Not cool. There are a lot of other Marriotts (and other hotels, for that matter) in this same area. I would highly suggest using one of those instead of staying here. Im open to giving them another chance (it might be better once the construction is done), but for now, well be steering clear of this place.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites has the wonderful combination of a great location and a terrific staff: the perfect formula for a stress-free stay in the City. Easy walking distance to Times Square, all the Broadway theater productions, the subway, and a myriad of fine restaurant selections, you couldn’t ask for anything more! The staff was very knowledgeable, and happily answered all of our questions with patience, and options to navigate within the city (and being first-time visitors to New York, it was so appreciative!). Be aware: the rooms are rather small, but it being Manhattan thats understandable. We certainly would not hesitate to stay there again!
This hotel was perfectly situated for us to see and walk to all the sites we wanted to in Manhattan, without being right in the middle of all the craziness of Times Square, which was only about a 15 minute walk. The staff of the hotel was amazing, and everything was clean and nice. The included breakfast was great, with the usual fruits muffins bagesl, etc., plus hot scrambled eggs and omelets, as well as waffles and bacon. Hot coffee and Hot chocolate served 24 hours a day, and warm cookies at the front desk in the evening.
The hotel was under renovation, but the hospitality and good service of the staff made up for the inconvenience. Daniel at the front desk was very helpful and kind, he made us feel welcomed and cared for. He delivered to every request or questions we had. Nice hot breakfast every morning, and Starburst coffee and tea available all day was a plus. My son was spoiled with their freshly baked cookies during the afternoons. We would definitely go back.
I was not greeted in a friendly manner at check-in and the associate did not mention my eligibility for upgrade or acknowledge my Elite status. The room I was put into was small cramped and dark (#305), but I was very tired and did not want to move. Also, I was only going to be there for one night. Overall, the hotel has a so-so budget feeling - functional but not memorable. I got a great rate, but would have been willing to pay more for a better experience.Location is convenient to Grand Central Station , Macys and Penn Station. For theater/Times Square, its a 10 minute walk. Close to public transit.
Could not beat the location! Central to everything in Manhattan. Hotel staff were nice and accommodating. Check in process was seamless. Rooms were recently renovated and felt new! Breakfast was included and much appreciated, a very nice touch. Overall, great experience and would definitely stay again.
Its Manhattan so I get the price and the size of the room -compact. Yhe staff was excellent, friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast very good. However, I cant bring myself to give it 5 stars as for the price I just feel like I should have gotten more though wanting a bigger room for the money might not be practical or fair on my part.
Great location for sightseeing in NYC. Easy access from Grand Central and easy walking to Times Square, Bryant Park, etc. Food availability was fair. Lobby is nice and attempts to be modern and welcoming but the lack of attention to details in the rooms is unfortunate. Not awful overall just unimpressive compared to other properties we have stayed at in the past. The company putting more care and attention to details and appropriate resources into the hotel could make this a much better and relaxing stay. Would only recommend if the price was really good.
HOSPITALITY - people who are in the hospitality industry need to remember its the customer whos paying their paycheck and put themselves in the guests place. I thought some of the food servers were rude and did not accommodate guests as they should have. I also thought the choice of music and the volume was not appropriate. Although the staff tried to locate cigarette smoke coming into my room they were not successful in doing so, the hotel should have air purifiers in cases like this and if everyones HVAC worked (or I should say didnt work) like the one in my room, they need to be replaced. This being said, there were way more positive things about the hotel than negative. I think once the renovations are completed it will be a really nice place to stay. I liked the decor and from what I could tell the end result should be very attractive.
As I mentioned, my room was tiny. I met the GM (Marcia) by chance in the elevator the first morning and she asked about my stay. I told her how small my room was and she could see I was not happy. She arranged for an upgrade to a suite and it was awesome and changed my whole 5 day stay as I was actually going to move to another hotel as the room was so small.Marcia deserves to be acknowledged for being proactive and making a Platinum member value even more his loyalty to Marriott - great job Marcia, that is Customer Service!
We enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield very much! Everything was very much to our liking. The staff was also great! The complementary breakfast was much appreciated and very delicious. We also enjoyed the fruit infused water that was in the lobby (in the evenings). It was SO very refreshing after a long day of walking and sight seeing. We would definitely return to this hotel.
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. It was clean, comfortable, and convenient to many places we wanted to visit. The staff was super helpful and fun! I found the price to be quite reasonable for NYC. Breakfast offered many options and since it was complimentary, added to the value of the room. I would definitely stay there again!
Staff is stellar. Daniel was exceptional, room was clean and had a king size bed. We were in room 1101. It faced the road and heard some noise from 3-5 am. It was quiet and comfortable. If you want a super quiet room ask for backside of hotel. I will stay there again. Construction should be finished in the breakfast area in about a month.
My wife and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary in NYC and stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites near 5th Ave. Excellent location. Breakfast was good and constantly replenished. Rooms are small but service was excellent. After returning to room one night there was a chilled bottle of Champagne and 2 glasses in our room courtesy of the hotel.Nice touch! We would stay here again!
Great Location, Great Staff. Breakfast is good, but choices limited. Rooms are small but its NYC. My room had some wear and tear issues in particular in the bathroom. I could not get the internet to work in the breakfast area (maybe they dont want you occupying space too long, since the breakfast area is small). The hotel is close to all kinds of shopping and dining options. You cant go wrong with this hotel.
I stayed at the Fairfield because I was working in the city for a week. Its a great place to stay! With a room on the 15th floor, seeing the Empire State building every time I looked out the window was a bonus. Overall, great room, great view and great location. Having an AMAZING staff was refreshing as well. I would choose this hotel again for business or personal trips!
The location and surrounding area is not the best esthetically. However, if youre looking for a quick stay, this is a good option. Rooms were very small and not recommended for two people. Location is near Times Square and room had a view of the empire state building. The breakfast staff was nice and helpful. Decent breakfast options. No microwave or fridge in room.
The Fairfield made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in the front door - the staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms were small but thats to be expected in most NYC hotels. Like all Marriotts, the room and bed were clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was a nice perk and you cant beat the location. Great hotel to stay for a business trip or a weekend in the city!
I was happy with the location which allowed me to walk everywhere; from Penn Station to the East side and back. Lots of great restaurants around this hotel for foodies like me.Im used to smaller hotel rooms in NYC. I simply need a comfortable clean bed and room to sleep in as the rest of the time Im out & about in the city. I didnt use public transportation so I cannot speak to the location or convenience of buses or trains. Not did I use taxis or ride sharing options.

2022-05-31The staff makes this place, hands down.Everyone was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is clean, breakfast is great (and the kitchen crew is sweet), and its not crowded. Our whole stay we felt like we were some of the only people here, no waiting for elevators, no hallway noise.Great location too - walkable to Bryant, Times Square, Rockefeller Center.Only downside, the room we had was TINY and we needed somewhere else to put garbage. But even that the staff helped with when we asked.5 out of 5 would do this again!

2022-02-01Great hotel within walking distance of NY activities. Reception was super nice and he remembered me throughout my visit (loved the earrings!). My view was great! The shower was wonderful as was the bed. Would definitely return if I ever have the chance.

2022-03-27The location is perfect for seeing everything in Manhattan. Within walking distance of Times Square and plenty of subway/bus stops to use.The rooms are small, but functional. The place is dated, but this is a Fairfield Inn & Suites, be realistic with your expectations. If you’re hoping for a fancy, spacious hotel without dents and dinks, this isn’t it.The breakfast isn’t great, I recommend going to a local bagel place instead. If the free breakfast is a deciding factor in picking this hotel, probably choose a different place. There was always fresh, cold water available in the lobby. Very refreshing when coming back after walking all day.

2022-06-29Marriott should be ashamed of this place. It is in a word, a dump. Smallest room Ive ever seen. Leaky faucet in the bathroom that spread water across the sink, soaking an entire box of tissues. Single ice machine in the bowels of a dark basement. Weve stayed in a number of Fairfield Inns, and they tend to be fine. This one is off the charts awful. The traffic on the street 17 floors below sounded like it was in our room. Lesson learned about this place.

2022-03-16Soap dispenser is in the bathtub, so you have to step in the bathtub in order to get soap to wash your hands. Who designed this? Also the heater in the room is very loud. You should go to breakfast as early as you can, otherwise you cannot find much to eat. The breakfast room is cold, encouraging you to eat fast...

2022-01-31-Hotel room king bed is very tiny (not abnormal for nyc but there are larger ones in the city) i only stayed two nights cant imagine being in a closet longer than that-Fresh cold free water downstairs was so great- Hot breakfast wasnt amazing but still very good for a 3 star hotel and was great as it was snowing outside. Decent options (see photo)- location is the best- room gets cold there arent many blankets but heat did kick in its just very drafty-tiny lobby- overall was nicer than other fairfield inns in other cities. Just know this is a lower level chain owned by marriott so youre not getting the same as a regular marriott. I paid $118 a night. I wouldnt pay anymore than that.- my one biggest gripe is no upgrade despite the hotel being very empty as an elite Marriott member

2022-07-01Made a booking and received a confirmation. Arrived at the airport at almost 1 AM. After keeping me waiting for an additional 15 minutes, the receptionist just shakes her head and tells me there are no more rooms. Yes, you read that right, no rooms available. So I asked why my booking was confirmed, and she told me that at the time of the reservation, there was availability. However afterwards, the room was damaged. So I asked why I wasnt told that the room was damaged afterwards, she simply told me we didnt know.So I then asked how do you know now that the room is damaged? She didnt go in and check herself, she just read something on the computer. She then tells me the room was damaged around 4 PM. I made a reservation at 6:45 PM lol. So when DID they find out about the damages? She told me after the reservation, but before my arrival. So again, why didnt they tell me when they found out about the damages, before my arrival?Ultimately, I called Marriott bonvoy because the receptionist just wanted to win the argument. It turns out this location simply overbooked the hotel and hoped I never showed up considering I arrived late. I asked them to provide another lodging, to which they did, but didnt offer ANY assistance. They just told me to pay with my own money, and later figure out the refund. Is this really what Marriott has become?

2022-04-17Its a very basic hotel, does the job if you just want a place to lay your head. Dont expect much more or anything romantic. The breakfast is below basic, barely does the job

2022-03-27Room was super small. Only 1 towel. Had to call 2 times to get more towels and bedsheets were stained. Not my typical Marriott experience
