Family Practice Associates in other cities:
Have only ever had wonderful encounters with the doctors and nurses here. They have always gone out of their way to answer questions and make real time to see patients. This poor review is in relation to the calling service only. The on call answering service was absolutely horrendous. Whoever the woman was that answered my phone call was beyond rude. I wasn’t even able to finish my reason for calling before she interrupted me. She proceeded to talk over me and raise her voice. I finished explaining what my doctor had instructed me to do (which was what I was calling in regards to). She began to AGAIN interrupt me when I said told her she was being rude. While yelling at me she said I had an attitude and hung up on me. This phone call was completely unprofessional and inappropriate.I work in healthcare myself and this behavior is absolutely unacceptable. It’s really disappointing that a place in which you are calling for help and instruction is involves someone so disrespectful and degrading. I plan to follow up with my provider and other management in response to this poor behavior.
My girlfriend and I moved to FL last year and wanted to come back to NY this year, so we did. When she tried to get back in with Family Practice Associates they denied her because she no showed a lot. Her mother explained that she had moved and those appts should not have been scheduled because she moved. The receptionist then told her mother that the appts were before she moved but they werent. They argued for about 5 min about when she moved and then refused to let her back in. My girlfriend has multiple medical conditions and she sees a Dr about once a month. She loved the Drs and Nurses here but the reception is SO RUDE. We will not be recommending this place to anyone based on the receptionists here. I really cant say it enough, the receptionists are SO SO RUDE. I rated 3 stars because she liked the Dr that she was seeing and he helped her a lot.
I have been going to this practice for 20 years but since they moved to the brand new big building and probably were bought out by a conglomerate, they have gone down hill. Missed calling in prescriptions several times, called to the wrong pharmacy, doctors not returning phone calls, misdiagnosis, and the clincher was getting charged for an office visit for my free annual physical. Because the PA asked me a question about an issue that I have that goes outside of what is normally discussed in a physical they charged me $140 for an office visit on top of my free physical. I am totally disgusted and looking for a new family doctor.
The receptionists are some of the worst people Ive ever had to work with. They upset me almost every time I call and are extremely rude and condescending. Maybe this is because I am young, but I have been going to this doctor since probably age 6, now 22, and this is an ongoing issue. The doctors I see are kind, helpful and knowledgeable, but the receptionists make me question why I go here every single time I call. Other than that, this is an average middle of the road doctors office.
If youre looking for a office that can actually help you with your medical needs, keep looking. This place is more headache than its worth. You wait 30 minutes to get brought into a room just to wait another 30 minutes for the Dr to come in and grace you with his presence. Or you take your only day off to go in for your appointment, that you have an appointment card for, and youre told you dont have an appointment and can you come back tomorrow?Really? Id rather go without any health care than deal with this miss managed group of misfits.
U gotta be kidding me. The staff here arethe worst Ive ever encounter. You sit and sit. They are rude. Even Dr Fairbanks is rude. Shes not very understanding or even knowledgeable. Its not about herIts about us. Shes never on time. Youhave to sit and wait for her in their nastywaiting room. The staff cant figure outinsurance so you get these outrageous bills. Please the change has to start at the top. How about a new office manager. Also the head nurse is way over duefor retirement. So save your time and money and look for another Family practice. Heed my advice just move on from them. I did !!! Glad I did
Great practice. On time, friendly, answers questions and takes time during appointments. Ive referred several people here who have also been equally pleased. They have late hours and some Saturday appointments which comes in super handy for those of us with busy lives. The new office is beautiful. Highly recommend.
I had been searching for a primary care office since I moved back to the Liverpool area. When I called back in 2014, I was placed with my current PA Susan Moak. Shes kind, direct, understanding, and she as well as the nurses and staff in the practice take their time with me whenever Im there or when I call. Its a warm, welcoming environment, and I never feel rushed or as if Im a burden (which I usually am). 100% recommend Sue Moak and the staff at Family Practice Associates - they go above and beyond to make sure my health is a priority.
Horrible! I have been going here since I was a child. The rudest front staff ever! Leaving practice for multiple rude receptionist! I had a baby crying before and was told to call back when she’s not crying! Because I know exactly when my baby will cry right? Some “ family practice “. Today I had to cancel an afternoon apt. I called at 930am she had the nerve to ask why I didn’t call at 730am? Again I have 5 children was up all night with 10 mo with fever and had to get my others off to school and again this is supposed to be a “family practice “ Disgusted!
I have been going here since I was a baby. (About 22 years now) They are the absolute worst. The receptionists cannot be bothered with anything other than the conversation they are having behind the counter. You wait for at least half an hour after your appointment time to get into the room and then another half an hour if not longer before a doctor comes in. I was once in the room for over an hour before the doctor came in and that was only after i left the room and asked a nurse if anyone was going to show up. They dont care to actually find out what is wrong with you so they just tell you to go to the ER half of the time. When you call to make an appointment the lady often puts you on hold to talk to a nurse about whats wrong instead of making you an appointment. If you want to see your medical file they give you a hard time they charge for printed copies and if you have a large file it adds up. They give you attitude if you ask to see your file because Why do you need to see it? I can say there have been a handful of very nice nurses. These are issues at both the Liverpool and Raddison locations.
Ive been going here for about 15 years. Dr. Brian Smith is absolutely wonderful, taking the time to listen to me and not make snap judgments as to what is wrong. Everbodys friendly, including the vampires in the lab. I rarely have to wait more than 5 min before being called in and also while waiting in the exam room. I would recommend these folks to everyone!!
Tried to be accepted as a new patient twice and felt the receptionist on the phone was very rude like I was bothering her even by asking. The 2nd time she took my information and told me they would need to contact the Dr to see if he would accept new patients, after waiting a couple of days I was informed he had agreed to see me and I set the appointment. I had to reschedule my first appointment due to an unavoidable work issue however I called well within the window for cancellations. I scheduled the 2nd appointment and the day of the appointment I realized I had never received a confirmation call. I called at 9:50am knowing my appointment was that day. The receptionist informed me that my appointment was at 10:10am so I told her I was on my way. Unfortunately it takes about 30 minutes to drive there from where I work. I arrived 18 minutes late and was told I couldnt be seen because I was late and would need to reschedule again. They said the only opening was 3 weeks away and I said I couldnt wait that long. She made a phone call and when she got off the phone another woman walked in and told me they couldnt reschedule since I cancelled the first appointment and was late for the 2nd. They would need to contact the Dr and see if he was still willing to see me. I received a phone call 2 hours later stating the Dr had refused to take me as a patient. Funny how it takes days for approval but takes mere hours to deny you. Thanks for refusing to see me and especially for the non-existent confirmation call that EVERY other office Ive ever visited would have made the day prior. I would absolutely not recommend any new patients try this office, your time and energy will be better spent elsewhere.
I was a patient of Dr. Michael Nolan for many years. I moved to Utah for two years but I could not find a good job there. Since I have now returned to NY, I wanted to go back to him again. Dr Nolan has accepted me back as his patient and I am very happy about it. He is one of the best doctors I have ever gone to and he is a good person in every way. Thank you Dr Nolan.
Very rarely do I complain on reviews so when I do it is very serious. I have been going to this practice for almost 3 years and really enjoy my visits and the people that i have seen. However I will never go again. THIS IS THE WORST MOST UNORGANIZED OFFICE EVER. Dr. Mark Vanhusen is by far the worst business professional I have ever encountered. The question is not will he take my money and mistreat me it is when. I have never met him (my own doctor) he makes decision about me without proper knowledge and charges me when he should not. If you are looking for a doctor this is not the one. I will go without before I use this doctor ever again.
They need to realize that we all have lifes and jobs when they are booking appointments. I have waited for almost an hours for an appointment that was skedualed weeks in advance. When I checked with front desk half an hour in, I was told that there is 3 people in front of me. 3 people! And my appointment was alredy half an hour late. I am sorry but this is just not acceptable.Lets just say I will we looking for another practice.
They say they offer evening and Saturday appts, however you cant actually schedule them. You have to call first thing and hope you can get in that day. Today, I tried calling from the time they opened, they NEVER answered. Also left a message, at around 9am, which was NOT returned. I tried back several times, finally at 10:20, I got the answering service and they told me they closed at 10! They get to leave if they dont have appts, guess NOT answering the phone guarantees that, ha? That is great patient care.
MDs arent taking new patients, but thats not the issue I have. Im new to the area, was referred here by a friend, but because I have an open Workers Comp claim, they wont see me. My injury is already being treated by 5 other doctors, Im not asking them to see me for anything related to that. I have very good health insurance. Seems VERY silly.
I love going to see Dr .Micheals he is a great Dr and so is his nurse she is amazing . love that they listen to you and they find out whats going on and not give up on ypu . When i was child hos dad usedcto be my doctor and now have hos son . my whole family goes there 💜💜💜💜
Dr. Fazio s fabulous! Hes very up on current medical information always make suggestions on how to improve. Or refer you to any specialist that isnt needed. Has always been sympathetic to personal situations and is very caring and and kind with his words. I really feel that he does care about me.
Have been a patient here over 10 years and I really like Joel Delaney. He is kind, attentive and knowledgeable. However, the office staff in these offices are so surly. I rarely speak to a support staff member on the phone who isnt rude and short with me. They act so put-out to be taking my phone call, though I believe that is actually a large part of their job.
Place sucks ..the docters are very careless and dont care about there patients ...they sent me home 10 years ago with a 900 blood sugar not knowing i was diabetic ...i went into a the emergency room and they said i almost died..john obrien sent me home because my blood sugar wasnt readable on there monitor. Retards ..i should of sued them

2022-02-07Dr. Fazio and Family Practice are the best! Always finds a way to fit us in when we need to be seen quickly. If he is not available, the other medical staff are great as well and will take care of us. We have been patients of Dr. Fazio’s for years. So thankful for everything he does! The non-medical staff are very friendly and helpful as well.

2021-12-12I need to laugh at some of these reviews where they give a one star rating but theyve been going to this practice for 20 years. The majority of the three and under stars are during COVID. I been going here for over 20 years and never had an issue. I never really have long waits and have even been out before my appointment was to start. My only complaint is that Ive seen my doctor maybe three times in the 20 years when I was in the most dire distress. Its usually a nurse practitioner I see, but Im OK with that. Joel is a great guy, is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

2021-12-10I have gone to this Practice my entire life (40yrs). I have not needed a Dr visit in the last 3 years. I called to make an appointment for an issue and they told me I was no longer a patient because I hadnt been in 3 years. The Receptionist told me she needed to call me back because she didnt know what to do. I got a call back asking if I have any other family members who are patients (I dont, Im the only family member living in the area). She said that because I have no family members that are patients, and because I havent been in 3 years, and am no longer a patient, they CANNOT ACCEPT ME. They are not accepting new patientsIF I COULD GIVE A NO-STAR REVIEW I WOULD

2021-12-11I have been coming here for a few years now. I have to come in every six months for medication check for high blood pressure. I can never get an appointment without a problem. The staff is just very unfriendly. It’s never a “pleasant” experience. They just don’t seem to care weather they have patients or not.

2021-11-13Mom had a fall and we thought she broke her pelvis. Called MD at 11:40 am. Never got back to us until we called them back at 4:00pm. Their advise call and ambulance and go to ER. We then asked for an in home ex ray. Took all day for them to read and get back to us; no break thank God. Go somewhere else if you care about your parents. These people are awful.

2021-01-29I have been been a patient at this practice since I was a young child. My family and I have always loved the providers but have dreaded any time we know well have to deal with the office staff. My entire issue with this practice is the office staff. They constantly seem to be unorganized and more interested in their own personal conversations than actually helping the practice run efficiently. They are rude 90% of the time, although I can say that my experiences with Kathy are the exception. Most of the time it feels whether in person or via phone, that you are interrupting them and bothering them. Unless you are lucky enough to speak to a nurse or doctor you are treated less like a patient and more like a problem. Should you need paperwork completed for various reasons, it may be normal to bring it to the offices attention, but here youre best bet is to bring it directly to your doctor or nurse. Otherwise, prepare to call and check in periodically until its done.I more than understand what this kind of job in the healthcare field entails, and I am also aware that a strong office is the backbone to a practice. I do not understand why when this has been going on for years and noticed by many that changes have not been made. Also, I understand the problems that COVID has created and the myriad of information that needs to be provided. However, when someone is so sick, listening to the never ending automated message before options are even provided is absolutely exhausting and frustrating.LOVE the doctors and nurses, constantly unimpressed by the office. Hoping something changes soon or I may need to seek out other care.

2021-03-04So after being a patient of Family Practice Associates for 20+ years, I called yesterday to set up an appointment. I had not been there in a number of years( 2014 was my last visit) as there was no need for me to see a doctor. I was told that I am now considered a new patient and the receptionist would ask Dr. MICHAELS if they would be willing to take me on a s a new patient. I received a call back about 2 hours later and was informed that they were very sorry, but I was no longer going to be one of their patients. My wife, son and daughter are also patients there- I was informed that my son is still a patient as he was seen last summer, but my wife and daughter are no longer patients there. I own and operate an HVAC service company here in Syracuse, I understand that downsizing happens- but to deny care when needed seems a bit cold. A letter describing the fact that they were downsizing a couple of years ago would have maybe given me a chance to align my family with a new care provider. Thank you for leaving me in the lurch Family Practice Associates.

2020-12-30As others have mentioned, the receptionists are lousy and incredibly rude. You will always have issues getting prescriptions filled. You can’t even talk to a human-being about your prescriptions as they have an automated system that goes straight to a voicemail box. They won’t call you back, so you just got to hope they fill them (50/50 shot on that).Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Unfortunate, because the doctor I’m seeing here is actually quite competent and friendly, but it’s not worth having to go through all the other pain points.

2020-10-29Receptionist are astonishingly rude. I have worked in healthcare for 10 years and recently moved to NY. I was recommended a PA from this practice from a coworker I respect to establish care. Because of the satisfaction my coworker has for the providers at this practice I did not feel the need to seek out their reviews. Big mistake. Had I read the reviews 1st I would not have even wanted this to be my practice. Everything said below is correct. The receptionist are condescending and arrogant to say the least. The attitude they project is bad for the practice and I am honestly blown away from a business standpoint that the practice allows them to continue in their unprofessional behavior.I know 1st hand that I would not want this to be my practice, and as I mentioned before, had I read the reviews 1st I would have never even picked up the phone.
