Have only had the pizza here.. and not going to get in the battle of which Rays is better.. or whats the best pizza in New York.. all I know is that the pizza here is always fresh and delicious. From about $6 you get a nice selection of slices to choose from plus they other menu items if pies is not your thing. Customer service is always great and theres plenty of room to sit and enjoy your choice of meal. All part of the reasons we keep coming back 😋
I live in NYC and tried most of the Pizza takeouts in Manhattan. Rays pizza is good. But 14 dollars for two slices is way too much for what is being offered. If you need a quick bite better options are around. If you wanna taste great pizza, there are beautiful Italian restaurants downtown that offer pies that come for less than 56 bucks... I made a list of pizza takeouts in NYC. Rays sadly makes it in the bottom third. Disappointing.
The pizza was good but more pricey than I expected for two slices and two drinks. Then again, when in Manhattan, you pay more or dont eat it. Sometimes I wonder if they see you are from out of town, they charge you more because you dont know better. Still, the pizza was good.
The pizza here was ok, except that both my friend and I got sick after eating it. We came here our first night in NYC hungry from traveling all day. We both ordered a slice, they reheated it and we sat in the back. It was cluttered and looked dirty. This was my first NY dining experience and it left me scared all the restaurants would look like this, but they dont. Within an hour i knew my stomach was not taking to the pizza and I was up half the night. My friend joined me in my misery shortly after that. We did not eat any more pizza in NY after that. Would not recommend.
This pizza place was open late - it was around ~1am when I visited to grab a slice of pizza after a show. The selection was limited to what they had available at that time (no pepperoni or just cheese slices were available). I had a margarita slice which was delicious and cheap; just what I was looking for! 🙌
I was traveling from Omaha, Nebraska with 3 teenaged grandkids and chose this pizza establishment. Because it was close to Marriott Marquis hotel. This was an excellent choice!!! The place was clean, the employees was so friendly and the pizza was delicious.I definitely recommend this place and will patronize again if Im return.
We came here since it was the closest pizza spot to the the tree at Rockefeller center. With kids we wanted to get something faster than a sit down and with outdoor seating. The line was annoyingly ave unnecessarily long and this was just to order. We ordered the medium pizza pie. It was much smaller than expected and much more expensive. $23 for a plain pie is just unnecessary even for Manhattan prices. It also took 20 minutes to make. The crust was too thick and slightly burned on the bottom. The sauce was good. They do have a sit down area on top. The place is pretty clean. I recommend the dollar pizza a block away for a better deal, better service and slightly larger pie size.
Pizza was good, but not wow. Good consistency but once it got cold it wasnt enjoyable anymore. Female cashier was in a hurry to get her money with no pleasantries and they didnt have any good drinks. Outside seating was cool, but they kept watching me + then went down into the storage room in front fiddling with stuff, while I was still eating right there. Place was recommended, but I dont see what all the hype was about really..
Pretty decent, but maybe not quite as good as the one in Chelsea. Crispy crust, good sauce but not enough of it, and reasonably decent cheese (the fresh mozz on the margarita pie). Lousy quality/amount of toppings, though. Prices are too high for pizza-by-the-slice in this town. $6.50 for a slice just doesnt feel right when you can get a comparable slice from 2 Bros for $1.
Bought 2 slices for take out, Was $3.50 per slice. So $7.00 total. Pay as by Visa card. Checked account was charged $12.13. Ripping off tourists!!! You decide whats what!..went back next day asked for $5 refund... was given $5 easy enough. Thx pizza was good enough... just watch the charges!
The absolute best pizza in NYC and NJ! Consistently hot, well made and the sauce is delicious. True NY style pizza that cannot be beat. We also tried their fettuccine alfredo with chicken- excellent sized portion and it was better than I’ve had from some of those chain places!
Ordered online during the pandemic and food was ready on time. The garlic knots are Amazing! The pepperoni calzone is STUFFED with pepperoni, so heads up if you prefer a saucier calzone. The pizza was very good. Average for New York, but would be considered excellent in other parts of the country.Edit: We ordered here again. I had an online order, but when I walked into the store, there was nowhere to pick up orders. I tried to talk to one employee who wouldnt talk to me and just pointed to the front of the store to talk to someone else. I went to the front to talk to an employee who wasnt actively helping other customers, but he just interrupted the one employee interacting with customers about my order. They didnt care much for my name, just wanted to know what I ordered. Eventually he was able to instruct his co-employees how to help and I got out the door with my pizza and one of my two orders of garlic knots. The taco pizza was delicious, but it was very heavy on jalapeños and the cheese was slices of American cheese, not cheddar as advertised. Im not going to change my review yet, but tonights experience is the reason this wonderful food is being represented with 3.8 stars (at the time of writing)
We tried to buy 4 slices and the owner pushed us to buy half a pie because he didn’t want to sell us the four slices. Also 3.25 for a bottle of water. Way too overpriced and poor customer service. probably the worst pizza place in the area. If you want to buy pizza go to 55 and 56 on 8th ave those are the best places in the area. This place sucks.Review from a New Yorker not a tourist.
Just ordered from here my calzone didnt have everything I ordered in it and it was burned, my pizza was muchy and with some gigantic meatballs. And my french fries with bacon and cheese where horrible, And payed 70 dollars. If it was a thing I would of return everything back and just got my money back. Waste of money and food.
5 stars is for the pizza not the service. Im not a huge pizza fan but my daughter loves them, so we just had to buy a slice and eat it walking through Times Square. The pizza was delicious. It was lovely and hot and the bottom was crispy. Yum! If you can get passed the sour faced staff then pop in for a tasty treat.
We went in late night for 3 slices to snack on. Staff were friendly and pizza was good and very tasty. Not the best we have had but very good. They had some unique combinations to choose from with about 10 to choose from. Great stop and very close to our hotel. We would return again for sure.
I wanted to get a pizza slice and bottle of water and Cashier was asking $3.25 for a small bottle of simple water, thats ridiculous. You can get $1 bottle of water literally outside that store from the cart. Still cant wrap my head around why they are selling simple water small bottle for $3.25.
Really disappointed with the quality of my order. I ordered 10 piece buffalo wings. I asked them to be cooked well extra crispy. I received on 9 wings... and super soggy almost appeared only boiled and seemed a bit undercooked. Sucks I used to order great wings from this place before. Not cooked to my liking lately. I had to refry in my at home air to be able to eat them.
The pizza was good. Not the best. I would give 4 stars if the service was better. Rude because they dont understand English well enough to understand that my friend ordered a slice that was the same as mine. When we told him she didnt have two of the same but that one was for me, he threw the slice on the counter with an attitude.
Worst service Ive ever experienced. Not worth going back again. Impatient with their customers because they have a line out the door. Upset they have good business?? Never heard of it...Then our pizza was either given away or never made, and when asked they yelled saying its not ready. Ended up being 40 minutes for a pie. I wouldve asked for a refund and left but had hungry boys ...Theres plenty of other places to eat. Would NOT choose this one.
The regular slice ($3.50) was not great, and the place itself felt really dirty and sad. We ate as quickly as we could. What it does have going for it is that if you are really hungry and really craving pizza, its the first pizzeria walking up 7th Avenue from Times Square to the 57th Street N. Know that.
I have read about the place during my so called nyc prep. Arrived to an old fashion style pizzeria, unclean, unwelcoming, noisy, the pizza on counter looks unappealing and like it was seating there for ever. Bought one piece and its by far the least tasty pizza at the city. Do your self a favor and eat at any of the other amazing places there is to eat.
Horrible taste sodium intake is what A normal human body needs for two weeks in a single slice I think they want you to order a drink. That’s why the sodium content is so high. otherwise it’s not very difficult to make pizzaI will Avoid this place and choose a food truck if unhealthy food is on your mind.
I havent had pizza in Ny or Us, since 2008. I was expecting a good one. It was very bad and im.sure it was a day old. I could tell because it was pretty early in the day, i ussualy like cold pizza and i used to have a pizza place back in the day, ,we never put out the day before pizza in the window. And very expensive. The people there were very Nice.
Pizza is decent but watch out they will round up and keep the change. The price is too high for pizza and that’s coming from a New Yorker. Take you’re money somewhere else. Only on principle one slice and a Pepsi is $6.25 cashier said total is $7.00 and when I pointed it out she tried to give me 20 cents back lol
A quick slice for an extravagant New York price. The cheese and toppings are all fine, but the crust is kind of an odd texture. It’s this Frankenstein between a classic dollar pizza flop, a thin crust snap, and a Pizza Hut breadiness. It’ll do if you’re looking for random pizza, but it’s not really a New York experience (except shelling out the money, perhaps).
We were staying around the corner and popped in one evening to grab a late dinner. It was as clean as youd expect any other walk-thru pizza joint in midtown. Prices were reasonable, food wasnt bad, but my husband ordered (and paid for) a combo meal. Dropped the pizza, gyro and drink off at the table and went back to tbe counter to get our fries. Older gentleman proceeded to argue and half yell at him that he DIDNT get fries. When my husband asked, Then how did I get a drink? the older gentleman yelled over to the cashier to figure it out. She looked at my husbands receipt and said he did, in fact, need an order of fries. The only reason Im giving any stars is because the food was good. Thanks to service, we wont be back when were in town.
DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible pizza! The building had water leaking from the ceilin falling by the toppings, the price jumps up once you get there and even after showing the lady the price on their site, she just says, well, do you want it or not. Hopefully my call to the health department will change things there.
I went a few days im conscutive as they seem to be the on quick slice of pizza place near the building Ive been working from. The store is not very clean and nothing I tried over the few days had any flavor. The product is not prepared with even an ounce of athenticity. Im sorry to share negative a post but Id not suggest this establishment.
Disgusting restaurant that no employees wear a mask to protect consumers. Asked to use the restroom...advised to buy something In return which we did....after transaction refused to allow me to use the restroom. Never will this first responder eat from this gross place....

2022-06-28If I could give this place six stars, I would. This is New York style pizza at its finest! The crust is crisp, but not too much and the dough has a nice sweetness. The sauce has a good tang and a touch of sweet and they use just the right amount of cheese (which is melted perfectly). They are generous with the toppings and one slice can make a meal. But it is so good, you may go back for another. I know that New Yorkers like to fold their pizza, but this is better flat so that you can enjoy the experience longer.

2022-06-25We tried a couple different places and Ray’s was the best. The chicken bacon ranch, Penna ala vodka, and sausage pepperoni and onion slices were very good! Lots of variety! We’d need to come back to try them all!

2021-12-27There’s no way to visit New York without visiting one of the “Original Ray’s Pizza.” There’s like 50 of these “original” locations, so finding one wherever you may travel won’t be hard to do.This one certainly didn’t disappoint. At nearly 10:00 on a Sunday night the line was out the door and my calzone was exactly what I was hoping for: greasy, cheesy, filled with pepperoni, and the crust was unbelievably fresh. The servers were a little edgy and no matter your order number the update was always the same, “It’s not ready.”Having said that, I can’t wait to come back! And that’s “Henry’s Take.”@henrystake

2022-03-31Pizza was actually pretty good and my fiance also enjoyed her slice. I left out the other 2 stars, the decor was in need of John taffer. Not so clean and a bit rude,or abrasive, when speaking to customers.

2022-05-27$7 for 1 slice of mediocre pizza. The seating is really poor. The pizza itself is decent. This is about the quality of an outdoor halal stand.
