On January 11, 2021 at around 9:00 AM in the morning, we showed up at the firefighters place after finding out that our cat fell off the window of a seven-floor apt and was trapped on the roof of the church next to the apt building. We had never called a fire department before and didn’t know how it works or if we could just walk in. The team warmly welcomed us and asked for some basic information of the location of the cat. Within 5 mins they were able to get to the building and went up to the roof to rescue our cat Potato. Lucky Potato to have such nice people saving her and lucky us to have such professional team protecting the city. Not sure if they will be able to see this but wanted to thank the team and give our very best gratitude and respect!

My dad yielded to Engine 9. It hit my dads car and kept going. Waited 2 hours for dirty cops to show up and write a false report. At that time, none of us spoke English. NYC has the most corrupt emergency services in the United States. No compensation and nothing.

On 9/13/2001 my husband (a former iron worker, a retired cop friend who worked for us and I were bringing supplies down to the World Trade site. It was still open to civilians and as we approached the area for drop off, an exhausted fireman who was leaving the site requested and asked if he could ride in with us. I believe he was urged to leave, i think he must have been there since it started. I never got his name. We were completely silent and preparing ourselves mentally to help anyway we could. I could tell he was completely mentally and physically exhausted. I felt compelled to rub his back. So i did. We sat in silence for approx 5 minutes and he jumped out and disappeared back Into ground zero. He was from engine 6. Every 9/11 I think of him. The buddies he lost, the pain he was feeling, the urgency and sadness in his stature. I will never forget that moment. I wonder if you are retired now? I was in my early thirties and you were maybe in your 40’s? I believe. Hard to tell. I think of you often and hope you have found some peace and joy in life. The brotherhood of never giving up you conveyed that day will forever be remembered. ♥️
