Fine Fare Supermarkets in other cities:
This supermarket is a staple to the neighborhood because you can get so many ingredients ranging from candy to vegetables to various drinks. The cashiers are friendly although you need to look carefully to the vegetables you find here are wilted but asides from that you can find basics like rice, beans, canned goods even some vegan items. They are good people going day by day like everyone but hope they look into the produce problems, as times are tough and they had to cut staff.
Luis the manager says that he never recycled bottles for me over the years which is a complete lie. He says that this supermarket does not take any bottles for recycle which is also a lie according to another manager from another shift. I am assuming he has something against me and therefore is trying to oppress me in my own neighborhood. He also did it on time with the wic when I showed him the wic manual and he explained that he was withholding certain items I was qualified to receive all to protect his bosss expenses. Another form of oppresion. I am a single parent teying to exercise my rights and luis is standing in the way of that.
Ive been going to this Fine Fare for nearly 12 years. Theyve done a lot of remodeling over the years, and the result is impressive. Its great for those who work late because theyre open until midnight 7 days a week. They have a good selection of American and Latino/Caribbean products, though it is somewhat limited due to the physical space constraints of the store.
This supermarket is ok id love to give it 5 stars but i cant because there are times i buy things from there produce section and there is mold (not the one you can cut off), ive gotten watermelon and its been a bit stale. Other than that the store has a great has alot of things and alot smaller than other supermarkets its a great location.
Didn’t like the service or explanation given. I went to go buy some milk (fat free to be precise). I saw the photo and bought a gallon. I got charged 3.99 instead, and when I asked why if the sign said 2.88, they told me it was only for whole milk. I told them that their sign needed to be more clear about that, since it didn’t state that it was only that price for whole milk (note only the brand is mentioned and size). Some guy, who I’m guessing was the manager, told me that it said so in the weekly circular so I should’ve checked there. I told him not everyone checks the weekly circular, so they need to make sure their sign and circular ads match. Never going back - I’d rather walk to the Cherry Valley in 115 - better pricing and way nicer staff!
Stay away from this supermarket unless you would like to end up in the hospital. Their meat department is the most disgusting Ive ever witness, aside from the fact that they escalate ridiculous prices that no local butcher shop would ever do they take the unsold meats and they repack them and if the meats have any discoloration or turning brown to them they actually scrape it off as to look New and or fresh. Also stay away from their frozen seafood at all cost. Most of their shelf products are obviously not selling because you can clearly see all the heavy dust on them and they wont even dust them off..!
I lived on East 119th Street between 1st & Pleasant Ave. for about 20 yrs. and Ive never liked that Fine Fare Supermarket for a number of reasons. They will put out a circular of items that go on sale and most of the time its not even in stock. There are so many other things that I can say about them but its too much to text.
I like the store its in a convienent spot for me, but They are a little overpriced, and they seldom have the products that are on sale that youre looking for. They also for YEARS have an issue with putting the PRICES ON THEIR PRODUCTS which my boyfriend continues to complain about(to the point where he no longer shops there) I recommend as well that they expand their vegetarian, vegan section.
Food us very low quality, meat is always rotten, costumer services rude it feels like someone is forcing them to work there for us and they hate it, most of everything is over priced, when they have specials they dont place on display or just want to argue that it is not on said specials, they try to rip you off at whatever chance they get the only good thing about it that its across the street from me.
We have been at home here for more than a month now ..It is certainly not like the larger chains but still a good supermarket where you can find a bit of everything .. always fresh fruit and strange but true good bread ... they also make excellent sandwiches with tastes of your choice ... the staff and kind

2022-07-12This is the worst supermarket ever. They sell spoil meat and is very overpriced. Also the short guy with the bald head I’m guessing who is the boss is very rude and racist. Numerous time I come in the store and see the hospitality is different within the races. Bottom line this supermarket is not for the people it’s for personal gain. The only thing is that it’s Convenient being that other supermarket are further away.

2022-06-01I buy milk here that according to the expiration date its not expired but when I get home and try to use some to dip in my Oreos the milk smells like rotten cheese. This is the 3rd time I bought spoiled milk that according to the date wasnt expired and then when I go back to exchange it I get an attitude like I did something wrong by trying to change something I paid for. Also the fruit there (mangos, pineapple and watermelon the ones cut up and put in a container) they are sour and not ready to eat. I buy meat here sometimes and it smells spoiled. Very overpriced and one of the female cashier that just recently started working there is very rude. Also when you buy veggies and fruits they just throw everything in the bag with all the other can groceries. By the time Im home like half a block from fine fare my fruits and veggies get bruised. People who work there need to get educated on how to work in customer service and learn how to bag things correctly and stop being so cheap and rude to customers. If us customers dont shop there then there wouldnt be a finefare so treat all customers with respect.Today may 31st 7:50 pm I went to this fine fare (that I been coming to for the past 5+ years) treated me like Im some thief. I always bring a bag with me and today they was acting like I had to leave my bag in the front with my electric bike. I am not going to this finefare again they dont care about there customers always have a attitude and treat us like thieves following customers around. 😒 🙄 I ended up going to third Ave and I kept my bag on me and was treated like I was a valued customer.

2020-04-26Since always this supermarket has been expensive. Now that we are in a pandemic they have NOTHING on sale, and are price gouging. How is this a super sale? Wish I can write 0 stars. You are better off going to Target or a different supermarket. The meat sauce is super expensive, canned goods, and most important the MEAT!!

2022-04-28The worst price gouging Ive seen in a East Harlem supermarket, no care for the people that live in this area only for a profit!! No way they care for the customers!!! Never mind there racist!! Check your meats while in the store most of the time there spoiled. Who wants to buy old pork sausage?? They put there price tag over the company expectation date!!! Ive talked to them about it several times and they still sell meats like this!

2021-04-12I like this store because it’s convenient to my home. They are also open late, 12 midnight. They also have some managers specials. They have a 5% discount for NYCHA residents on Wednesday. The two items I find regularly inexpensive is the pig feet at 99 cent a pound and chicken quarters at 39 to 59 cents a pound. This is a bargain that can’t be beat.

2021-07-29The store manager Luis needs to I repeat needs to take management classes he is very rude and so are his employees not all. I ask that they replace this manager. He is a liar and a thief. And he also likes to disrespect woman. There was an incident that happened with a client and he took it personal and when he saw her the next time he told her that the cops were looking for her because she supposedly was committing fraud with the EBT card. Lies he tells because we went to the precinct and they said that they never went to the supermarket looking for her. He’s a liar and she deserves justice for what he did.
