Fine Fare Supermarkets in other cities:
Ok meat selection but the variety of food options is extremely limited. Sometimes, I can’t find simple spices like paprika or oregano. The vegetables are usually bruised and in bad condition. Better fruit and vegetables being sold at the stand right out from. And some items are way overpriced like 12$ for a pack of bacon?!
A classic sort of neighborhood Grocery Store. Their prices are okay, in some ways a little bit better than some of the surrounding competition but not by much. just a little bit more official an established then some of the bday guys so thats your feel and this might be the place that you prefer. Nothing quite comprable unless youre go all the way down to Key Food on Broadway. I dont find the Produce Section to be their strength - i dont find it to be very high quality or quantity, but they have decent enough of a selection of dried Goods to make up for it. Also similar nearby is Xlenette down the block, but this place is open later, till 11 i think.
Be careful buying meat at this establishment. Only purchase products that are packaged at their respective processing plants using their own packaging, ie. Perdue, Shady Brook Farms, etc. The meat is not fresh otherwise. Check to make sure expiration dates have not been changed. For example... multiple price labels suggests dates are altered once meat has expired. Still dont believe? The smell of rotting meat is quite evident as soon as you walk in the door.
Cant even send your kid to the supermarket anymore. This incident happened Thursday September 16 at approximately 8:20 pm. A trip to this supermarket so my 14 year old daughter can purchase a single roll of paper towel turns into a terrible ordeal. My daughter picked a bounty roll and changed her mind when the cashier told her $2.82 so she went a got a Brawny roll on sale for $1.59, she informed the cashier that she didnt have a store card when it scanned $1.99. This cashier frustrated, huffs and puffs while complaining to the cashier right next to her, by this point my daughter is already uncomfortable and the cashier is asking her to show her where and my daughter literally points to the location in the aisle right behind. I am not sure if the cashier knows how to read or anything but it took a while, the cashier was standing right in front of the sign so my daughter walked over to tell her its right here in big letters, Frustrated? Yes, the cashier tells her that she needs to calm down my daughter also told the cashier that she should be nicer to people. Of course it escalated from there and the woman refused to let my daughter buy the roll of paper towel. The cashier ends up trying to offend my daughter by saying its not her fault you dont have any money! At this point there is a line, this cashier literally starts talking childish making weird faces and saying nah nah nah nahmy daughter takes out her phone to record at this point. The cashier assaults my daughter for filming and my daughters says its not illegal to film you. All this simply because my daughter wants to buy the cheapest roll possible as we are a family that normally buys these things in bulk from Costco. We dont know if this woman is family of the owner but how in the world is this woman able to keep her job after this incident, Ill never know. Its just so important for any business to make sure their employees know good customer skills and clearly this establishment does not live up to that. Fortunately a different person was able to intervene and let my daughter buy the roll of paper towel for the sale price. I will never go in this specific supermarket again or let my daughter go there. We will walk up and down the hill to Key food at 187th and Broadway just to avoid this Supermarket. Never again!
I thought plastic bags were supposed to be replaced with paper bags and they are getting rid of their plastic bag inventory by charging the 5 cents per bag that is supposed to be for paper bags. City officials should look into this cause they are always ripping off the community.
RIP OFF ! EXTREMELY OVERPRICED GREEDY OWNER OF THIS SUPERMARKET HAS CAPITALIZED ON BEING THE ONLY MARKET NEAR TRAIN STATION AND IN TURN OVERPRICES ON EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN STORE..AVOID ALL PRODUCE AND VEGETABLES NEVER FRESH IN STAGES OF SPOILING ROTTING..FILTHY AISLES AS WELL AS LONG LINES DUE TO GROCERY BAGGERS THAT ARE ALWAYS THERE BEGGING FOR YOUR COINS..AVOID THIS SUPERMARKET AT ALL COSTS..A FEW BLOCKS AWAY IS FAMILY DOLLAR THAT PUTS THIS DUMP TO SHAME

2022-02-13Way overpriced. Shop the weekly specials if you want to save money. Also, be careful with merchandise on sale because a lot of times they will scan at regular price. They do this a lot. In addition, the dairy products refrigerator is not cold enough, thus causing spoilage. Lastly, management is horrible, they’re crooks. Go to Key Food instead.

2021-11-05Overpriced and a lot of expired products that if you buy wont get refunded. Avoid the meats, they dont care if they are rotten, will sell it anyways. Great for emergencies but double check everything you get there.

2021-09-26Its a bit pricey for a supermarket in the heights and items often times are expired, please make sure you check expiration dates on anything you buy there, last trip I grabbed some sliced havarti cheese and they were green with mold, these were in plain sight.

2020-01-13I do like you all. You almost always have the basic stuff I need & the prices are usually fair (or cheap) & the staff is ALWAYS super friendly. Friendliest supermarket staff anywhere nearby, hands down. But PLEASE could you work on someone overseeing the listed open hours on Google? Every time I check it (weekends & holidays, when Im not sure) it says a different thing, and most often its wrong! I just want to know if I need to get over there by 9 or 10 or 11 or....Right now it says youre open til 12:30am & I know for SURE thats not true!

2020-10-02I personally don’t care for this supermarket because the majority fruits and vegetables aren’t that great, the prices are high but they don’t have good quality. Also, there’s always a stink odor when you enter the supermarket.

2020-02-22The produce at this place are not up to standards. If you’re a female, avoid the meat section as these men only harass women for approaching their section. I was fortunate to have been accompanied with my husband who caught them cat calling me and when confronted they denied the entire situation. I brought the matter to management’s attention but nothing has changed. Finally, they are notorious for selling expired products and when you do ask for a price reduction of expired product (over a month) they refuse to adjust price.

2020-06-07High priced, moldy produce. Unfriendly management. Sale items are rarely ever stocked. The smell near the back meat/fish counter alone is enough to never want to come back here again.
