I went for the first time Thursday Night and was impressed with the changes. The place looks much warmer with the new renovations.Service was excellent and the food was excellent as well.Who knew that an Irish Restaurant could make such a great Chicken Parmigiano. Next time, Ill try an Irish dinner.Check it out, you wont be disappointed. 👍 👍
It was our first time visiting and well definitely be back. Great staff who were very attentive without being overbearing, great fresh food that came out fast and hot, good portions and a nice clean atmosphere. The buffalo garlic parm wings were delicious and Im glad our waitress recommend them.
A tale of two trips. Last Sunday went around 2 for a late lunch and the fish and chips was perfect. The cajun chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. Tonight was not the same. Arrived just after 5 with the family and food was just so so. Same chicken was dry, pasta was unimpressive and the mashed potatoes seemed like they were made and sitting out for hours. Service was slow to the point I had to bring the kids water glasses to the bar to be filled. View is fantastic. Bottle beer selection is weak. Not sure about a 3rd trip.
Food and service here is top-notch. I ordered the Reuben which was one of the best Ive ever had. Ever. A week later and Im still thinking about it. Glad that not much changed from Carneys to Finnigans except for the location. If you go here, you surely wont be disappointed.
Good local place with a nice view of the lake. However, super busy and service isnt great. Also, a long wait time for food! Havent had a great experience with the staff there; not super friendly. However, this could be a fluke and Id still recommend this place if youre local and have time.
If youre looking through the reviews to determine if this place is worth it; look no further. Among the best (in US) Irish pubs Ive ever been to. Great food, drink, staff, and atmosphere. The look over the lake is phenomenal. Food can be on the pricier side than average restaraunts (up to $5-$10 more per menu item), however the service, location, and *quality* are all up to par for the price. Had the filet mignon special and was not disappointed in the slightest.Definitely try this place out if you like Irish fanfare & youre passing through!
The atmosphere is nice and the service was friendly but the food was just OK at best. The fish fry ($21)was soggy and they gave out a tiny container of tarter sauce so I asked for more. When I got the bill they charged me $1 for an extra tiny tarter sauce. The Reuben sandwich was $19 and had a lot of corned beef but too little of the other stuff. I would be scared to ask for more dressing..... My friend told me that they went and asked to split the bill and this place charged them $4 to split it. The food prices are high and I dont like to be nickeled and dimed when already paying a higher than normal price for mediocre food
Called to place a take out order, was told they don’t do take out orders over the phone, my husband went in and placed the order, came home with the food , looked at receipt and saw a $7 charge for take out! Are you kidding me! Food was good but over priced! Will not be back , can get the same food at the Factory at a better price and no take out fee! Seriously a take out fee😕😕
Today my family went here around 6pm. Hostess told us it would be about a 30 min wait so myself, my husband and three kids moved toward the bar to wait. Two of my older children sat at the bar and we ordered them Shirley temples and my husband and myself (standing beside them) ordered a drink as well. We have done this every time we visited and there was a wait.We have visited this restaurant at least 50 times. We live on the lake. Most of the lake residence that I know don’t like it here. The owners were rude to them and the menu isn’t exactly what you might enjoy on a hot summer lake restaurant (bangers and mash, shepherds pie, thanksgiving turkey dinner). But we continued to visit because it was right around the corner from us. Plus our good friend barb works there. She’s an excellent waitress so kind. Many of the other staff are kind there as well. The current owners use to own carneys. We remember them from carneys and it doesn’t appear that the owner Stephanie remembered us since she make it a point to tell us five times that she was the owner. We already knew she was the owner and never asked. After Stephanie served us four Shirley temples and two adult drinks, she handed us the bill. She said that we had to pay our bill and leave the bar because “adults want to drink”. After i looked at her in disbelief she changed her mind and said “it’s a law that kids can’t be there at a bar”. I told her it’s not a NYS law and I reminded her that we’ve been here many times and she has served my kids Shirley temples many times. She reminded me again that she was the owner and told me that we had to leave. She yelled so loud and got so upset. I couldn’t believe it. She seemed to work herself up because I didn’t say much more than that. Finally she told me, my husband and three children to leave HER restaurant. She embarrassed myself and my husband and shocked my children. At that point we left without eating. As we left one of her employees apologized for her. While it’s a restaurants policy to decide whether children are allowed to sit at the bar and wait for a table or not, the disrespect that Stephanie displayed to us was completely uncalled for. It is not illegal in NYS for children to sit at a bar with their parent. This is a restaurant with a childrens menu. I am disgusted with Stephanie’s display. She owes us an apology. She also needs to brush up on NYS law and decide what her restaurant policy is. We have visited her restaurant many times and never have an issue and all the sudden me and my children get kicked out as a family of 5 on a Friday evening there’s something very unstable going on here.I do not recommend this restaurant mostly because the owners embarrassed me. But also because the food isn’t very good and the menu is disappointing. Also, most of us are waiting for them to go out of business so that a better, more appropriate restaurant goes into that space.
It was good to have Carneys Tavern re-open as Finnegans. Food was delicious. Meatball torpedo was awesome along with the meatballs & rigatoni - great sauce. The prime rib sandwich special tasted great. French onion soup was great but I think I got one of the last bowls - they ran out according to the server at the table next to us. The potato skins are a must order appetizer. There were a couple of my favorites missing on the pared-down menu - onion rings and the turkey melt on sourdough. I hope they will bring those back when they can. Glad to see they are using Fred the Butcher for the burgers - local business supporting local business. I just hope they get Freds bacon to use in their dishes - Freds is the best! Welcome back, Finnegans! Glad youre here!
Former Good Times; decor ruined when Villago bought the place. New owners, from Carneys have redone the facility, much nicer now. We had 3 for lunch on a Sunday; all very happy with their selections from an extensive menu and hoping they can open more days for lunch as time goes on.
Feb. 17, 2022. This is me ,as Bonnie is taking my photo as I am trying to enjoy my NY Strip steak dinner , complete with fresh asparagus ,Plz. note, normally I do not eat asparagus , but Matt knows how to prepare it deliciously. Also thanks to our friendly efficient waitress Terry, fantastic table service.
Went with a large party and everyone was very happy with their meals. My Patty Melt with Sweet Potato Fries was delicious. The atmosphere was great with a fireplace and great views of Ballston Lake. The service was friendly and efficient and this venue is recommended by many. Definitely one to put on your list of favorites.

2022-08-07I would highly recommend this place. Very nice atmosphere with a view of the lake. Me, my wife, and mother-in-law ate dinner here last night and it was absolutely delicious. It was our first time coming here and we were definitely not disappointed. The food was incredible with a very friendly staff. I 100% recommend the Reuben and French onion soup. My highest compliments to the chef. Even the food at other tables looked delicious. We will absolutely be coming back here again.

2022-05-12Nice, quaint place. A bit noisy, but pleasant. I really liked the view of the lake, I think that I might have seen a Canadian goose flying over it. I kind of wished that my friends and I could have sat outside, but it was quite a bit warm when we were there. The BLT that I had was very nice. The tomato was...O.K??? Oh well...maybe next time that I go there the tomatoes will be a bit better??? I guess that my friends liked their dinners as well. So, you should go there for the view, as well as the food.

2022-08-06Average place. Pros: The service was good. The view of the lake is very pretty. Cons: overpriced for what it is. It seems like they charge extra for everything. I’m all for reducing food waste but dinner rolls upon request? That’s just stingy when you’re paying so much for a dining experience. I got the turkey dinner for $21. The menu said homemade stuffing and gravy but it tasted exactly like it came from a box and a can. The asparagus was drenched in butter. You don’t go to an Irish pub for health food but it was just too salty and fatty for me, not enough flavor.

2022-05-30Went for lunch on Memorial weekend 2022. Beautiful weather so sat on the patio with view of the lake. Excellent food and service. Chef/owner stopped at every table to confirm all was good. Unheard-of now a days. Hope no one reads this review so I can get a table next time I go. Worth the drive from anywhere.

2022-07-28Well it pains me to do this but my first time here was just okay. Service was not an issue, waitress was pleasant and accommodating. I understand the current inflation but prices are far too high here. Price usually doesn’t matter when the quality supports it but let’s start with their “Legendary” Reuben. I had high expectations considering the name of the place and their description in the menu. Honestly, it was just okay. It was hot, fresh, and okay. Far from “legendary,” and for $19.50…yikes!!! It came with chips and a soufflé cup of slaw. If I wanted homemade Mac salad, another $3 was needed, so I passed. My guests got blackened chicken w/mashed and roast turkey dinner w/mashed. Excellent mashed, otherwise it was just okay. All in all, $108 for 3 people with iced teas and one potato skin appetizer ($17.50 for 4)…this cost way too much and just wasn’t as great as the menu boasted. We may try again…next time may take advantage of their 2 for $29 Italian night.

2022-06-11Eggplant Rollatini was tasty, wait staff was personable and quick. View of the lake was beautiful and the outside patio was inviting. I would suggest from a vegetarian point of view that they include a sandwich option. Menu looked delicious but not a lot for a meatless choice.
