First Corinthian Baptist Church in other cities:
If you’re in the area, or even if you’re not, go to Harlem and attend a service at the FCBC. What a community! Incredible atmosphere, passion and praise. You need to queue to get in because of how many people go. It’s no wonder why people come here either - truly beautiful performances of songs of praise and compelling sermons. Definitely a must go!
Although I’m not a member I’ve been coming here for about 3 Years and the Pastor and disciplines has welcomed me and changed me and my life tremendously. I was going through a difficult time after the loss of my son & needed prayer and guidance. I walked into that church & that sermon was directed at me and my issues I stayed for 2 more sermons crying and felt so rejuvenated when I left and I’ve been attending ever since
Ive been going for sometime now. Looking into making this my church home. After having my grandfather pass (who was my pastor) this is the first place in years ive visited and gone back several times. Pastor Mike and his wife feed my spirit and everyone is friendly. watch a live stream online if youre nervous you wont regret it. Their praise and worship team is excellent, they make it so easy to want to be a part
All individuals interpret and understand events differently. I am a member of First Corinthian Baptist Church and we serve all of God’s people. Our house of worship does not discriminate against God’s people in any way shape or form. It is very unfortunate that someone would post that you have to be black in order to enter God’s house. This is a multi-cultural church that welcomes all individuals.
The worst experience lived in a Christian Church. Its a shame for Christ a Church separate People between black and white People. I was at the Church in the past sunday to worship God. But a members church, blocked my entrance and sent me to another church. I put my eyes on the discriminate way, and I perceived that the way to enter in the Church was be Black person. Its a shame. All white people were forbidden to enter. The preached of the Church is not the real Life.
The best church in NYC! Pastor Mike and Rev.Lakeesha are radical leaders and provide transformative teachings way pass the basic Christian scriptures. They challenge you to think and seek Jesus on a deeper level. I am blessed and honored to be able to attend such an amazing church. May the good Lord cover and bless them always.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY CHURCH!!!!! Im so proud and happy to be a part of this amazing family. Ive been in church all of my life but none like this! Truly humbled to be a part of this place. Pastor Mike and Rev. LaKeesha are the best! Everyone is family. Come to the church and youll see why FCBC ROCKS!!!!!
I Love MY church. Pastor Mike delivers the message of God like no other! His is a combination of Malcohm X, Martin Luther King, President Obama, Himself, and Immanuel. Rev. Lakisha delivers her gossip as a colaboration of Angelia Davis, Maya Angelou, Lorretta Scott, and Herself. They are very down to earth individuals which, makes their deliverance easy to receive. Since attending FCBC, I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and many other acute illnesses. Attending service there weekly has provided me with the strength and confidence that I NEEDED to fight a depression that was being created. I tell my freinds and family almost every Saturday night that I have Therapy in the morning, lol...I love this place that god has allowed me to attend and worship for the past almost 2 1/2 years: at times I even attend TNT on Tuesday nights. Lord, thank you for allowing me to learn to love and trust in you again after having such a hard life! Thank you for sending Pastor Mike and Rev Lakisha into my life to open the doors for this to happen...I humbly bow my head...disciple in the making...Amen.
Bref passez votre chemin, Machine à donation that it ! Choisissez une petite église sans moyens, vous aurez peut être du vrai gospel. Trop déçue 😢
I was looking for a small typical church to see a gospel mass ... I was wrong!I saw a show, very good, but not what I expected.Ideal if you want to see a great show, good singers, dancers even a sermon, all in a theater.Congratulations to those who manage this because its a job.If you want to see a little mass then, go your way.
A little disappointed. A show (for my discreet tastes)What I was hoping to find was a genuine and authentic experience.Unfortunately the church where I had to go had no more seats and I didnt have much time to reach another similar one (and aihmé I didnt have time to read the reviews of the FCBC, trusting a couple of people I met there)If you want to see authentic mass avoid this church.I found myself part of what felt like a show, not a sacred ritual. It looked like a cross between a Broadway show (super-amplified live music, lights, stalls and balcony typical of a theater) and an NBA game (maxi screens, staff running around the audience giving directions, video-sponsoring of the events ofcommunity and donations, spectacle in excess of everything, including the baptism of some faithful).Nice the pastors speech / sermon, yes, but 15 minutes on 2 hours of mass, in an overly exaggerated context, its not worth it ...This is why the experience gave me nothing.I would go back and avoid this experience for another church.I would recommend it only to Gospel lovers, because from that point of view it is a good show. To me, aihmé, the Gospel is not crazy.
A show as a mass, it can change us from what we know. The faithful live it with their guts, dances, distribution of handkerchiefs, giant screens, karaoke and sermon, everything is there. Provide liquid to fill the envelope that will be distributed to you before entering.Believing or not we appreciate the show.
Low mark justified by the attitude of certain members of the congregation managing the church: unfriendly, they address visitors in a rather inappropriate way as to donations - special mention when the envelope is handed over to the queue exterior prohibited between 2 visitors: only the person in charge must communicate to the donor and the attitude to adopt. After that, it remains a Baptist church as there are plenty: to be avoided except for the baptism in the balcony with bay window otherwise St Charles Borromeo or The Tabernacle in Brooklyn (even if not in the same religious spirit) are 100 times better and make you want to come back and participate more financially.
A lot of blog advises to come to this church for the gospel but no it was bad. Very disappointed. It is 200% for the dough, the gospel spirit is not there. There is advertising on the giant screens (Si si) between two songs. They only want the donations in their envelopes which they are very careful to give you while you are in line outside. We left after 1h30 out of the 2 hours planned. 1 hour of gospel which is more like a concert with 3 phrases per song and 1 hour of mass which makes you think more of a sect than anything else. Very disappointed. Instead, look for a simple church rather than that kind of church that just looks for money. I put a photo of the view from the balconies have seen the screens the control room the pubs in short it is not the gospel that we are looking for.
Recommended, visit to see a gospel mass. I recommend going to the first pass, I went at 8 in the morning but its worth getting up early so as not to wait for any line; when I left there is a considerable line of people. At all times I felt very comfortable with the very nice and kind parishioners; It is true that tourists are separated a little from the people who often go there but it is something that I see normal, since it is people who go assiduously and tourists do not and if not, I think it would be a chaos. There is no need to pay anything to anyone to enjoy the show that for me was, only if you want to give a donation.
It is worth getting lost on a Sunday in the Harlem neighborhood ... Attend a Gospel mass (be careful because not all churches allow visits), stroll through its streets and eat a delicious southern-style chicken ... At First Corinthian B. Tourists are welcome -you have to queue on the left, the one on the right is for patrons-, but as there are always a lot of people, I recommend going to the first office which is quieter and arriving well in advance
You have to go very early, 7:30 am, like the regulars. We were very well received in the downstairs room among the very warm faithful. It is not gospel as we imagine it, with traditional dresses and music and it is very good that way. Photos are allowed I even made videos. We were there November 11, Veterans Day and Pastors Party there for 15 years. It is an unforgettable memory yet I am usually resistant to any religion.
We showed up for the 11 oclock service that Sunday but were asked to come back the following week to the 8 oclock service, well only for tourists, as the locals entered without a problem. It is surely normal they are there every weekend. Too bad for us who had just made 30 minutes in the metro, I am not counting the crossing of the ocean 😀. And without regrets because we had already attended a Gospel mass in San Francisco. And according to the comments of several people this one seems very business oriented.
Attended a service on Sunday morning. As a tourist you get a spot on the balcony, so you do not sit among the weekly church visitors. (This also gives you the opportunity to leave when you want to).The service was exactly as we had hoped. Wonderful singing and beautiful stories. It is easy to follow because they have multiple screens that you can watch and there is a sign language interpreter
Arrival at 7:40 am for 8:00 am, the room is Full ... one of the guys at the entrance tells us to come back for 9:00 am (it was indicated Mass at 9:30 am on the net) ... we come back at 8:40 am, nothing is organized for the tourists and they push us back to avoid forming a queue ... why ??? A line forms around 9:15 am to let us return at 9:40 am for the 11:00 am mass !!!Tourists, we are set apart, upstairs well above the premises ... strange feeling for a so-called spiritual place ... then the show is modern ... therefore lacking outright from .... for my part to flee, they are too perched and do not respect people from far away.
A very interesting experience. Tourists sit apart from parishioners on a high floor, with good visibility. They give you an envelope when you enter, in case you want to make a voluntary contribution. The ceremony lasts almost an hour and a half, but it becomes very enjoyable, as they chant songs with the sermons
Located in the heart of Harlem, just above Central Park, this Baptist Church will offer you a traditional gospel Mass. For $ 10 per person (but we gave only $ 20 for 4) you will attend a mass of about 2 hours on the balcony because the benches are reserved for true worshipers. We went to the Sunday service, 11am.The songs are rather early in office, then there is a very fiery sermon, many quests and thats it.In the end, it is to see, but not as spectacular or fun as one could have imagined.
Three words; Amazing, awesome and a must see.I went with my wife to worship on Sunday at 11:30 and was very impressed. They have a queue outside the church for tourists but once inside we were treated as if we were members of the community. The music is breathtaking and the sermon very well balanced with intelligent and modern considerations. The whole session took about 1:30 pm.Musical performances are really a must for a visitor in New York.
Bad experience. A tourist factory, where Jesus turns into a cash machine. The locals enter the church first. They are put in the downstairs room. Tourists are redirected to the upper room. At the entrance you are entitled to your envelope to make a donation 😅 ... Direct. A few songs ... 15 minutes. Then advertising on the two giant screens ... A sword fight in the middle of the church ... Not including the show ... 😌. Advertising again. Then a speech lasting over an hour ...In short, far from a gospel church that we expect. Nothing authentic. A spectacle for tourists. Well established.
I put a star because I have to. But it is unacceptable. It is a tourist trap. If you want to hear a concert rather than gospel its here. A monumental queue and they put all the tourists upstairs. Too loud a sound. For me it was not a mass or gospel as we wish to hear it. For this you have to go two blocks further to 114 St Mount Neboh Baptist Church. Super welcome. The faithful come to shake your hand and welcome you. A magnificent choir with a little sister act show. A mass that we do not get bored.
We hesitated a lot given the very passionate opinions in both directions I will try to give an impartial opinion. I am a precision atheist. We arrived for the 8am mass 5 minutes late. Tourists like us are oriented upstairs personally. I dont find it shocking not to take the place of the faithful who come every week. An envelope is sent for the quest at the end but nothing required. 45 minutes of concert then 45 minutes of preaching ... to my surprise it is a woman who was doing mass! It changes from our French priests and it is very well like that. The ad criticized by some concerns volunteering for a superbowl match or the accessibility of a school to young Afro-American girls so we still remain in the theme, nothing shocking. The sermon is on fire and elicits a lot of reactions and applause from the faithful ... great discovery, the complete opposite of what we know in Europe.
We went on sunday at 11am and no gospel this time. Nothing more or less than a cult as can be seen in France in evangelical and / or Protestant churches (which have nothing to do with a priests mass for atheists like me). The worship lasts 2 hours but we can go out before.
An experience that every tourist in NY should enjoy. Great church, with a huge capacity. We were in the queue for an hour, but its worth it. The only downside that I would put is that if you are not one of the first in the queue they take you to the upper part of the church to an area for tourists, parishioners instead sit in an area in front. Being separated you do not really feel their feeling, but being apart does not take away from vibrating and enjoying the service.
Unpleasant moment the tourists are separated from the faithful and put up high so that we do not see them ... It looks like a folded TV set as a holy place! Catches tourist, tourists flee and rather choose a place at random in harlem rather than these large commercial structures we stayed there 20 min ... And came out very disappointed
I went 5 years ago and the gospel group was wonderful and they had a guest soloist who left nothing behind the phamtom of the opera soloist we saw at night on Broadway. In fact, they told us to go to the 1st floor as well as many parishioners who also participated in the mass. It was unforgettable

2019-11-18A great Church, with great music, good preaching and great people. The worship style is quite contemporary, informal and easy to follow. You can follow the worship and see lyrics to the songs on two big screens beside the stage. There are two worships every Sunday, at 08.00 and 10.45 and always packed. Be early and expect to wait in line for quite sone time.

2020-03-20A beautiful memorial service in a beautiful space. The pastor gave an inspiring sermon that brought us all to tears - if we weren’t there already. Such a warm and comforting space. Thank you also for singing during the Five Borough Bike Tour as we ride by each year. So much love from one location.

2020-02-11This is my home church. We are not the typical. You dont just walk in and blend in. We invite you to walk in and stand out. We welcome you with the love that you deserve. We introduce you to the love of the carpenter. God resides here and he is looking for disciples to transform the world. Are you ready to meet the real you?
