I cant say enough about FirstLight. When I first contacted Craig Harvey, the owner, he listened attentively to everything I needed to say about my mom and her needs. He genuinely cared. He followed up with phone calls to make sure my mom was comfortable with her care. And she was. Charlene managed to put my introvert mom at ease at the first visit! My moms functional status has greatly improved and she loves Charlene and looks forward to every visit. I am a psychologist and Ive worked with many home care providers. First Light, Craig, and Charlene, are truly exceptional. I cant give them a high enough recommendation, or enough thanks, for what theyve done for mom.

I have been working with first light since 2015. This company is by far the best I have worked with. From the beginning process of being hired Brianna was so helpful. They listen to every concern I have for everyone of my clients. They take care of everyones needs from the caregiver clients and the families. if my family members ever need extra care I would definitely send Craig Harvey there way.

I have been working with FirstLight for a few years now, and they are by far, the BEST agency I have worked for..The management team is amazing! They are very professional, and are always willing to go above and beyond for their employees , and more importantly, their clients! A Great place to work, and if I ever needed a caregiver for someone in my family, they would be the first people I would call..Its not easy letting strangers into your home to take care of your loved ones, but from the first, they make you feel comfortable, like youre part of a family..Very kind and compassionate people

My family and I were so happy to have found FirstLight when my mother needed extra support at home a year and a half ago. The office is friendly and helpful and did a great job communicating with me (I live in another state). My mother was very appreciative of the help she received and became very fond of her chief caregiver. FirstLight helped her stay in her home as we prepared for her transition to Assisted Living. I highly recommend this company!

I have a Masters degreeI’m Rehabilitation Counseling. Keeping the elderly moving is important for their continued independence. My mother received care from an aid named Charlene. She coddled her and would step in to do things for my mother that she didn’t need help with. When I talked to her about encouraging Mom to do more for herself, rather than doing so much for her, she said she was afraid my mother wouldn’t like her. Having had a career in graphic design, prior to taking this job as a care giver in her retirement, perhaps didn’t prepare her well. Charlene recommended a walker, I got her physical therapy. Charlene recommended assisted living, the neurologist, physical therapist and facility director, reviewed Mom’s abilities and disagreed. I would not recommend her unless you want her to put your parent in an early grave. Additionally, Charlene played me and another sibling against each other and was dishonest with me about her recommendations for Mom to move to assisted living. When I tried to contact her boss, the owner of this First Light franchise, Craig Harvey, my messages where not responded to until I wrote a negative review on Yelp! (Apparently their policy is to only speak to the person paying the bill. The concerns of non paying family members are not of interest to them.). They told my sister if I wrote bad reviews that they would stop providing services to my mother, so, basically, blackmail, and, they have banned me from talking to any employees of their agency in the future. I’m fine with Mom using another agency and encourage you to do so too. Contact Ulster County Office of the Aging for a list of local providers. .PS. The anne D, who has also written a review, is the sister he threatened to remove services. She does not want to change agencies and have to do all the paperwork again, and is dismissive of my concerns. I think you all deserve to know the truth.

Craig Harvey is caring and helpful. He was always responsive to our requests. He made time to meet with us and provide advice on a wide range of elder care topics. Our family is very grateful for FirstLight.

So I worked for them for 8 months or longer and loved my job and had great clientele even had a client called them and talk me up to this scam of a comapny but this company are 100% slick and do ILLEGAL STUFF. So I am a trained PCA and there are multiple people there who do PCA stuff who are NOT TRAINED TO DO SO NOR HAVE A PCA LICENCES. I know this for a fact because I recommended a friend at the time to seek employment from them and when they got the job and had there few clients I was told from that person that person was required to do stuff out of their area of expertise! Example; clean or wipe and bathe and etc, to do those certain things you need a PCA certificate or a higher certificate because I was trained and know this. To do that with out proper training can lead to the patient being injured and that can and/or will fall on caregivers fault but it should be on the company fault for giving them a job there not trained to do! this company is horrible! PLUS CAREGIVERS ARE DOING PCA JOBS WHILE GETTING PAID THE CAREGIVER WAGE NOT THE PCA WAGE! They are 100% SLICK. So dont fall for there niceattitude and nice approach. Go to right at home or some where where they treat there clients better. Im making it my job to expose these people for who they really are.
