My sister and I started looking for home healthcare agencies when my parents were in their mid-80s (they are in their early 90s now) and wanted to stay in their own home rather than go into assisted living. We spoke with an Elder Care Manager in my parents community to get recommendations for agencies and we researched them all, including FirstLight. Neither my sister nor I live in the town where my parents reside (Im an hour away, my sister is across the country) so it became clear to me that I wanted to engage an agency that was small and personal enough to react quickly on the ground should any emergencies arise and who would be knowledgeable about our case and who we were. What I knew that we didnt want was a large bureaucracy where we would get lost in the shuffle.FirstLight has turned out to be the perfect fit for our family. Its small, responsive, and remarkably agile in dealing with the constantly shifting landscape of our parents lives. They have helped us navigate insurance issues, identified terrific caregivers, helped to determine safety issues in the house and how to fix them, and have partnered with us in orchestrating the best plan for keeping our parents as safe as possible. And that plan is constantly being revised and reviewed as the realities of our parents health and cognition come to bear on their situation.Caring for aging parents is difficult and rarely goes smoothly so I dont want to paint an unrealistic picture here. There have been bumps in the road, certainly, both in our interactions with FirstLight and simply with the realities on the ground. But the staff at FirstLight--to a person--has been caring, empathetic, quickly responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and generally a joy to work with. I feel SO blessed that we found what, for our family, is the best possible partner in helping to keep our parents safe and happy.

I been with FirstLight HomeCare for 1 year now and I can say they are the best agency I have worked for. I have been a HHA for many years and never worked for a agency like Fristlight the cases they give me and clients are wonderful they always check up on you to make sure you ok always asking if u need more hours. Everyone who works in the office are really nice and they make u feel very comfortable and never put pressure on you they always let you know you are doing a great job and reward you with wonderful gifts. Fristlight appreciate the work im doing and that makes me appreciate them! I thank them all the time for giving me the opportunity to work for there agency. 2022-06-21As an aide whos been in this field of work for over 10 years I have had the most disturbing experiences with agencies! I gave Firstlight homecare a chance and wow! They are literally angels! I was shown appreciation literally all of the time! They are so respectful and will do anything to accommodate their workers and clients. This has hands down been the best experience and I recommend everyone to them! I am moving out of state and will miss them dearly! Thank you Amy and Alex (and everyone else) for changing my views on agencys!

2021-04-02I used Firstlight for in home care for my dad who has dementia. I cant say how pleased I am with the level of care providers they sent to our home. They were loving caring and always available to his every need. The meals they made, keeping his room and surrounding area clean, were all done on a daily immaculate method. They kept him busy with activities, walking and just generally happy. Thank you Julie and Amy for all your hard work. I want to Thank especially , Regina and Lorna who were just the most wonderful care givers.

2021-09-13When my mom had a stroke this spring, we learned that finding high quality home care in the age of COVID-19 is a struggle. We thought finding someone to help mom with household chores and driving for a few days a week was simply a matter of finding a reputable agency and scheduling an aide. But home health care workers are scarce now, and good ones who are willing to work under current conditions can be choosy. Mom had a few needs that further limited the market for a qualified aide (hands on assistance with stairs/showering, driving), but Vincent at FirstLight Home Care worked tirelessly to find us the help we needed on a short timeline. We are grateful to FirstLight for their professionalism and caring---5 stars/5 hearts.

2020-05-28The entire team at FirstLight has been excellent. They communicate and constantly keep us informed. They have been attentive and caring, and when my Mother went into the hospital they spoke with me even though it was well after business hours. I cannot say enough about the wonderful aids who have been my Mothers companions for several years. They are caring, supportive and just fantastic. These are the people that you can trust with your loved one.

2016-08-19FirstLight has trained and encouraged me in numerous ways and I am grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of their team. I am a college student studying geriatrics and I have worked for FirstLight HomeCare over the summer months. FirstLight HomeCare helped me gain a better understanding of my field of interest as well as have the opportunity to gain some hands-on experience.HomeCare allows clients the unique opportunity to stay in a place they are familiar with while still being and feeling safe, and that is very important. I started as a Companion and spent my days doing laundry, running errands, cleaning/tidying the house, but most importantly engaging my clients. Inversely, my clients have served as a role models for me and I am in awe of how interesting and knowledgeable the people I have worked with are. I have loved working with FirstLight HomeCare this summer for so many reasons. Firstly, I learned and developed a fuller knowledge of the responsibilities of home health care while at the same time making some deep personal connections. Secondly, FirstLight is a responsible, organized, and proactive company that provided me with very clear and direct instructions and information that I needed to do to complete my job. FirstLight made me feel safe working for them and knowing they were supportive of not only my client but also of me as a young adult. Furthermore, I do not think that many people are able to say that they feel sad leaving their job, but I know one hundred percent that I am sad about having to leave. I strongly suggest FirstLight HomeCare in every way.

2021-06-05I have been working for FLHC as a companion for almost four years now and I absolutely love it. It is an extremely rewarding job. I look forward to going to work every day. The administrator and owner, Vincent McMahon, along with office staff are a kind, dedicated, helpful, and supportive team and do an excellent job at matching their caregivers with their clients. They have flexible hours that work best for you and they go above and beyond giving exceptional care to their clients as well as their staff. I am honored and blessed to be part of such a caring team at FLHC and I would highly recommend them as an employer and/or as a caregiver.

2022-05-14Firstlight has LIED on my work status and has withheld employment from me even after they forced me to get that vaccination . I am greatly disgusted and disappointed I wasted my talents here because I really thought they were a good company. They ARE NOT.

2016-06-22My elderly father recently needed a caregiver overnight, after a hospital stay, to help with toileting and balance issues. When I contacted FirstLight HomeCare I was immediately put at ease. Vincent and his office staff worked tirelessly to find the perfect caregivers for my Dad. The caregivers who came to my home each night were wonderful. They were competent, caring, and respectful of all my fathers needs. His room and bathroom were left spotlessly clean every morning. We were able to sleep through the night knowing he was safe and lovingly cared for. FirstLight is first on my list of resources for excellent service and care.

2021-01-19From the moment I called First Light to help my mother, the were awesome. They quickly found a lovely caregiver and were super helpful in getting the LTC Insurance rolling. They also keep me in the loop with any changes in staffing or other issues which may arise. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caregiver
