Fjord Fish Market in other cities:
Fjord Fish Market is a much-needed addition to the neighborhood. The space is very clean, and their large selection of wild-caught seafood is far superior to anything at the nearby Whole Foods and other grocery stores. They have great to-go and sushi options as well, including veggie rolls and gluten-free, vegan baked goods.
I randomly walked by Fjord Seafood after leaving my son’s pediatrician appt and decided to peek in. They weren’t open yet (said it would be about an hour) but graciously allowed me to purchase a few things since i didn’t live in the neighborhood. I went in to buy some grey sole and came out with much more because everything looked so fresh and amazing. Little did i know they were opening for the first time ever and i was their very first customer! The quality of seafood as well as the customer service were both outstanding and i will be making the trip from Carroll Gardens to purchase my seafood here from now on. Thanks again and see you soon!
Went in to buy a whole black sea bass, asked for it to be be filleted and wanted to keep head and carcass. When I got home, the fish was a mess, still lots of scales on each filet and carcass had not been scaled or cleaned well (gill remnants, scales etc) I consider scaling a fillet to be the most basic of tasks and that wasn’t even done properly.
I went here, stood for 10 minutes and left, went to the fish market on 5th Ave and 9 st. I don’t mind waiting but someone should acknowledge you. Willing to give them another chance, but that shouldn’t happen. Not even a hello, be with you in 5, something. Fish did look fresh, place was nice and clean.
Overall, interaction felt weird to me. Went in to order a half pound of tuna. Asked the guy for it and he approximated with his fingers. I said thats too much, Ill take half. He said something to the affect that he wasnt sure he could cut something that size (small). Got home and notice that the piece I got (the smaller piece) was just shy under a half pound, which is what I wanted in the first place. He seemed to be trying to sell me a piece that weighed double of what I wanted. Generally, I didnt feel like that guy was that friendly to me at all. Not sure Ill go back.

2020-12-12Its finally open!Check out the scallops (in the photos) - they are legit. Look how thick they are! Their to-go sushi is very tasty as well and a good number of pieces per order. Nice variety, too.All their fish are very fresh. Workers are very friendly as well. Glad to see theyre open and fresh seafood in our area.

2021-05-18Pretty good as far as a sushi, hot seafood lunch, and fish shop that carries slices of pie. The layout is a little confusing, but I guess thats because the space is one big store front with no separation for each area. Pricy and maybe a little cold. Its very convenient though.

2020-12-27Waiting a while for this place to open, as I am seafood junkie, nice open, layout, everything is clean, very friendly service, but a few too many strikes for me to give 5 stars. Its the first couple weeks for them, so hopefully they will figure out the process a bit better, who takes orders, who runs register, orders being sent to the kitchen etc. Order: lobster roll, 1 dozen little necks 1.5 pounds king salmon. I was initially overcharged by 31 dollars, upon me recognizing this, saying it shouldnt be that much I was told, well you ordered an expensive fish. 29.99 a pound 1.5 pounds king salmon, 20 dollar lobster roll, and 12 little necks at .75 cents each. Bill after tax should have been 76, i was told 107. Different worker spotted the error and corrected it thankfully.. honest mistake, but still a mistake charging 40% extra. The Connecticut lobster roll was right, sweet succulent meat, nice toasted hot dog roll and delicious melted butter. When I arrived home I began to prepare the clams, bath of pepper to make them sneeze to clean them, a little butter little garlic and in the broiler. You aspect that for every 30 clams maybe you get 1 that wont open, but out of my 12, there were 2 that would not only not open but that were dead. Picture enclosed. 2 out of a dozen is a bit to many, in fairness the other clams were very good. Havent made the salmon yet, so the jury is still out.I want to cheer for this place, and I hope they do get it right as there is alot of potential there, but for now Im not sure if I can return here until I feel there has been significant improvement.

2021-04-30I love this addition to the neighborhood. I went here yesterday hoping to buy a Branzino for a seafood dinner--the person at the counter was very knowledgable about seafood and how to prepare the different fish they offered. I ended up buying and cooking the most delicious black sea bass instead, based on his recommendation. I was SO happy with the quality of fish and the advice. Would highly recommend this shop.

2021-02-27Its a very modern fish shop with a beautifully laid out display of fresh fish, sushi, prepared sauces, cold and hot soups, and other nibbles. You can get lobster dinners and more.

2021-04-18Such a wonderful addition to Park Slope. Before they opened there were no options for fresh, high quality and reasonably priced seafood in the neighborhood. Purchased Uni and oysters and was very pleased with quality and cost. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Love having such a wonderful fish market so close to home!

2022-02-01Oysters are so fresh here. All the seafood is great! I live their sushi and the fact that I can pick up a baguette and some kambucha.I asked the guys at the counter to debone the scate wings for me. The one who took care of it, the tall one. Did an amazing job!

2021-07-12Asked for a big piece of salmon to be cut into equal pieces, yet they varied to a point where one piece was twice the weight of another. On top of that, they decided to keep the pieces attached by the skin at the bottom as if it was a rack of lamb. This all on top of the fish being over priced. The branding and marketing is great though
