Very good steak. Refined interior.Dont judge this place from the outside. It is a far more refined place inside with wood panels, a fireplace and italian opera. The crab meat cocktail ia a simple but well executed affair with good and abundant crab meat that you can either give a lemon squeeze or dip in a cocktail sauce. The filet mignon is the most tender I ever had.The sides are fresh and well prepared and the wine by the glass list is simple but good too.The staff is friendly and professional.
Went to Flames on New Years Eve with my BF and we ordered the Porterhouse steak which was great!! Klaus, our server, made our experience wonderful with his excellent customer service and non stop humor! We met the owner as well and he was very welcoming and pleassant. Well definitely be back!
I’ve never written a review before because I have never felt the need, until now. I was so dissatisfied I felt the need to express displeasure with my experience with others. Four of us went to Flames Steakhouse tonight. The service was slow and inattentive even though we were one of only three tables in the place. The steaks were chewy and definitely not prime meat. We felt that we were served low quality meat for high quality prices. To top it off the sides were blend and not clearly not prepared properly. Terrible experience. We wont be returning.
Worst experience for a night out with my wife. We arrived and weren’t greeted by anyone for almost 15 minutes. We called and asked for a reservation but didn’t really have to as there wasn’t anyone in the restaurant. (Friday evening) The appetizers were good not great.Main issue was the steak, it was poorly cooked/seasoned. We have had better steaks at chain restaurants. It seemed highly recommended but the fancy layout and warm restaurant family setting did NOT make up for the poor quality steak.Very disappointed and do not recommend this place. Not worth the money or time.
An absolutely delicious dinner..from our appetizers to our entrees and our side dishes, everything was absolutely delicious. George was our waiter and he went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The steak was cooked to perfection, the side dishes perfectly paired and the dessert was the absolute icing on the cake. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the phenomenal chef Nick and served by our outgoing and personable waiter George, we really could not have asked for a better dinner. We cannot wait to go back!
So lets start with the good. Their pizza is AWESOME. Maybe the best pie in Westchester. Great crust, great sauce and high quality toppings. Price is right too. Where this place goes wrong is on their dinner and lunch menu. Totally over priced and totally average, and portion are kind of small. I paid almost 30 dollars for an order of chicken franchese, which consisted of a chicken cutlet over some pasta. No bread, salad or anything. For that price it should have been off the hook, but it was just ok. A dish like that shouldnt cost more than 15. So go there for the pizza. Avoid the entrees, at least until they get real and price them properly.
Me and about 7 of my friends gathered here to joke and reminisce about the good old days. The atmosphere was incredible. The food was outstanding. Our waiter George, was a saint for putting up with us throughout the night. After a few bottles of wine and jokes this is the perfect place for a group of old friends to have a nice evening. Bring your pocketbooks because the place can be expensive, especially if you eat and drink like me and my friends do.
The food was good, sort of what you expect at a steakhouse. The service was excellent though. Best service you can get at a restaurant. Was very impressed with how friendly, polite and attentive everyone was. It was a very busy time on a Saturday so it was so noisy. Highly recommend experiencing such excellent hospitality at Flames Steakhouse. Hope you enjoy it too.
My wife and I had a spontaneous dinner at flames. About 10 minutes before the end of our meal I had to leave so I left my wife to pay the bill. My wife does not usually have to take care of the bill when we go out so she is not accustomed to the standard tip percentage. She left some tip and left the restaurant to her car. While at her car the waiter came to her and told her the tip was not enough. She then went into her purse and handed him an additional $20. He took the $20 then told her she should not come back. I do not know what type of establishment shakes down customer for tips which is at the discretion of the customer. My wife told me about this the next day. I called the restaurant because I was appalled after hearing what happened. The manager in his own words said they should not have to hassle customers for tip. Understand that tip is based on the service and in the event you are not satisfied with the tip you do not have a right to shake down a customer then in addition tell them they are no longer welcome. What type of business does this especially after not knowing the circumstances. Rest assured I will not be returning and will spend my money else where and I trust that others will do the same after. I wonder if we were not minorities would we have had the same experience. Flames should be called Flicker!!! Horrible! Rude! Unprofessional! and outright racism!!
This place has 2 restaurants. The steak house and an adjoining pizzeria. I visited the steakhouse. It was expensive only 6 bottles on the extensive wine list under 100 much less than those over 1000. It was pretty empty when we went and service very attentive. The food was excellent. The owner also said we could come any time just for drinks at the bar. So if you are not sure just go for drinks. They also have party rooms. Im sure over time they will be very successful
Took my mom and family to celebrate her 95th birthday. Everything was excellent -- tasty food, good service, even some leftovers. We brought a birthday cake and they waived the plate charge, too.Good selection of steaks and some non-steak items, too. In addition to porterhouse, our group also ordered salmon and rack of lamb. Porterhouse for 3 and porterhouse for 2 served six easily with leftovers. The sides were good,, but especially the hash browns -- they are a dont miss! For a celebration, Flames is a perfect choice.
Manager had seated us and once we were seated just walked away. We had to ask for our menus and a wine list. While looking at the menu, we realized there were very few vegetable options (onions, mushrooms, spinach, and 4 types of potatoes). We had to ask our waiter if they had any other veggies and he rattled off a whole list. Come to find that the 2 tables next to us get seated by the same manager with a wine menu and a whole list of specials and vegetables as well as a choice in water (tap, Still, or sparkling). Our waiter and the rest of the wait staff was very helpful. When I explained to him what happened he apologized, but we were very put off by the treatment from the manager. The food was ok -the steak was very bland, sides were good.
The first time at Flames to the last visit have all been nothing but perfect. The wait staff and owner are welcoming and treat you like a VIP guest. Both times I have been there with my husband I had the aged bone in filet and my husband had the aged bone in ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly (we both prefer our steak served rare). Highly recommend going here and the adjoining Pizzeria is just as good.
The service here was amazing! The menu was filled with items for those without or without dietary restrictions. Our server, whos, name I cant remember helped usesch individually until we found the perfect mean along with the perfect wine to compliment the dish we ordered. The only negatives to this night were the obnoxiously loud and vulgar group next to us Definitely wish to go here again!
The ambiance was perfect for a date night with my husband. The wait staff was attentive at all times, and the owner came around to tables assuring all was well. The food was delicious, but like others have reviewed, I wish I had more band for my buck.My husband order steak and a baked potato, and I the lobster and lobster mac and cheese from the specials menu. MY MAC AND CHEESE WAS 23 BUCKS and had no lobster! The lobster was huge and delicious do the price of $65 wasnt as upsetting as that daggone mac and cheese. LolI would have loved for better selection of desserts, but I was too full to order any anyway.I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinner.
The staff was excellent service was the best i have seen as far as the food the owner takes personal pride to try to make every meal perfect and for us he did that ! he came to the table friendly getting to know his customers,A lot of the high end steak houses in the area should take notes how this this owner trains hes staff , prepares his food and treats his customers like family I will definitely be back to this establishment! Thanks Again for a great dinner !
Honestly when I drove by a few times I didnt think anything of it. Then I read an article about the chef Nikolla Vulaj and wanted to try it out for myself and Im sooo glad I did!! Nikolla was greeting guest and making jokes which was nice to see he even took our order! The lobster bisque was superb the best Ive ever had with big chunks of lobster! I had to remember I was in a public place cause I wanted to lick the bowl. Then out came our steak for 2 sizzling perfection perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly as we like. The bacon brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes perfect compliments to the steak. What more can I say besides I cant wait to go back! Yes a little expensive but worth every penny plus the staff was fabulous as well!Thank you Chef Nikolla Vulaj for a wonderful meal!
Found the place after a flight from HPN got cancelled, hit the lottery. House Cab, Ribeye, Creamed Spinach.I cook a lot and know Steak pretty well, and with that they seem to have their stuff together. Presentation was great even at the bar, servers were attentive but not overbearing. Exactly what I needed in thunderstorm induced flight cancellation. Will be back.
The restaurant is clean, very modern and well decorated. The wait staff was amazing, very attentive to our needs. They owner came around and asked how the food was and if there was anything he could do better or get us. The green bean salad was AMAZING. My penne alla vodka pasta was great. But my FAVORITE was the cannoli! I had one in Little Italy in the city. Ferreras had nothing on Flames!! Much better flavor and just amazing. I wish I could be eating one now back in Florida. If I am in Elmsford again I will be stopping by!
This place is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. when I I need a proper lunch, this is the place that comes straight to my mind. outstanding and food and a large menu.courteous staff, and agreeable mood. Not less important, the expence is honest. I praise this spot with no doubt.
Wow, did not expect this in Elmsford. Forget Benjamins forget Ruth Chris. You need to come to Flames for your steak house fix.First, killer Martini at the bar.Second, the wait staff is off the hook.Third, you can actually have a conversation, great acoutistics, especially for us old guys.Fourth, did I mention the wait staff?Fifth, the apps were spectacular.Sixth and final, the entrees were all amazing.Yes its a steak House.Yes its expensive.Yes its worth every penny.

2022-06-11This place exceeded our expectations. I took my wife for our 18th anniversary and it was a special moment as soon as we got there. Every employee were super attentive and had such a positive attitude. Its rare to have such an experience these days. And this was before we ate. The food was phenomenal!

2022-03-02I love their oysters and shrimp cocktails. The bone-in rib-eye steak tasted awesome. Their home fries tasted very good. The staffs were very optimistic, friendly, knows what the customers likes and give them strong recommendations. I recommend this steakhouse to everyone who loves steaks.

2022-03-26Solid steakhouse. We had the aged porterhouse for two. Cooked perfectly with a nice thick crust. Amazing sides and great service. Decent wine list. The dessert need an upgrade but were ok. I would skip them and go for an after dinner drink. Atmosphere definitely old school steakhouse. Clean bathroom. Comfortable seating. Nothing to write home about but the food speaks for itself. I would definitely go back.

2022-02-13I have to say. I’m 59 years old and the tomahawk ribeye steak at Flames was the best steak I’ve ever had. The service was incredible, from the gracious host to our servers which couldn’t make our meal an better. Can’t wait to return and try the Filet on the bone!

2022-06-20With increased prices comes the necessity for excellence and although I had previously held Flames in high regards amongst the finer steakhouses it did not live up to my memories or expectations this visit. Some of the food lacked any foreseen effort at all, ie a $30 tomato and mozz salad for two which simply had four slices of tomato and only two slices of mozz with a basil sprig on top. Simply cutting the two pieces of mozz in half at least each piece of tomato could have been enjoyed with it. And a little drizzle of olive oil or balsamic, maybe just even cracked sea salt or pepper would have shown some effort.I would say that the baked clams were excellent. And the calamari as well. Very tender and the marinara had a little spice to it which was nice. Portion on the calamari was on the smaller side though.Overall the food was good but once again the sides were very lackluster. Garlic mashed which were basic and you questioned if there was garlic, and Brussel sprouts with bacon which once again didn’t seem to have any effort other than frying the sprouts and adding some chopped bacon on top. Plus for $17 each the portions were minuscule. The service was also not up to standards in my opinion for any price range. Throughout the evening everything was ok with the exception of being brought the dessert tray before our entrees arrived. But come after dinner things began to slip. Coffee order was taken before the dessert order, yet didn’t come out until we had finished our desserts. No utensils when the desserts actually arrived. And a missed birthday recognition of some sort. With everything considered, although the food was good, I unfortunately would say it’s not worth the premium prices. There are other private, non corporate steakhouses in the area that produce the same level of food and service for less.

2022-03-233 or maybe 4 stars... I have to admit their Service was great, a 10 out of 10. On Food and overall Value, Im sorry to say, this restaurant feels overrated. We had a shell steak and twin lobster tail. The steak was indeed flavorful, maybe a touch undercooked, but it had a good crust. The lobster had minimal flavor and was dry. Thats pretty annoying for an item that costs $110. I understand the market cost is high, but everything else is on the kitchen staff. The $5.50 tea bag resembled a Twinings. (why, when you could get something fancier - dining is about the experience.) In the end, if you want a local steakhouse - i.e. not a chain - with reliable steak and service, *AND* you dont mind paying a premium, then Flames is ok.

2022-07-10Tagline: They are trying. Or are they perhaps denying? The gruesome details for this restaurant on Route 119 in Elmsford NY are a tour of the good, the bad and the ugly. If you have heard that “… the sizzle is in the steak” then you know that particular adage fits with nearly anything but a steakhouse. The sizzle is in the side dishes at a steakhouse, unless of course the steakhouse doesn’t know how to obtain, temper, prep and prepare an outstanding steak. These fine folk do meet that minimum standard, the steak is worth the money and your time. However, a good steak does not a meal make. (That’s all me if you want an attribute.) I judge a steakhouse on four pillars (after the steak which I honestly wish went without saying): Roquefort dressing, creamed spinach, some sort of signature potato and service. So let’s work backwards and cover the service. In a word competent, but they are pricing themselves in with Barclay Prime, Luger and CUT. Have you ever witnessed a server reverse the place setting when they realized a diner is left handed? I have, and the food was less expensive.Their signature potato was so forgettable that I honestly don’t remember it. I make notes about food, and the potato dish was so translucent that there aren’t any notes on it, nor do I remember it.I liked the creamed spinach until it had to be paid for. At that point it became superfluous. Now on to the Roquefort dressing. This cost them a star and frankly it ought to have cost them two. When I asked the server if their Roquefort was house made he said yes. When I pressed him by asking if a quart of danish blue cheese crumbles folded into a gallon jar of Sysco blue cheese salad dressing constituted “house made” he smiled sheepishly and said, nearly in a mumble, yes. It’s glop. It’s so inedible it gives glop a bad name. An uncommonly good wedge salad is part of the steakhouse mystique. A BLT without the bread. Hard to make well, not something you can whip up at home from refrigerator dreck, it’s a traditional fanfare heralding the fine, decadent meal to come. Fail. Epic fail.Bottom line: Not worth the money and God, please merciful God, do not order anything with the blue cheese dressing.Post script: I offered to show the chef how to make real Roquefort dressing. Or if we prefer blue cheese then real blue cheese dressing. They declined, which speaks volumes beyond their mediocrity. Recent evidence suggests the wait staff may not have presented my generous offer to the chef, who seems insulated from the truth by his front of the house staff, and that’s a problem.

2022-06-27Excellent steakhouse- the servers recommendations were perfect. Bone in Filets were perfectly prepared, as was the T-bone for 1
