FlatRate Moving in other cities:
This has been the best move we have ever had! The movers were responsive to all of our needs and took great care and caution when moving our items. The rates were very reasonable for what we were moving and there were no hidden fees. Additionally, the movers worked very quickly and efficiently to get our move done as fast and as safely as possible.10/10, A+, Definitely recommend!
These guys did not pack our furniture properly; they placed heavy boxes on top boxes marked as fragile contents; there were dents in cabinets, cracks and chipped wood on furniture when delivered to the new location and when made aware of it, the lead guy was argumentive, rude and unprofessional. As a result of going back and forth with the guy about the damages seen on my property, they left with one of our boxes and when we called the base/company to let them know a box was missing from the move, got the run a round and no resolution. This company should not be used if you value your property and want all of your property delivered promptly and with out incident.
Highly recommend. We moved from nyc to ma and flatrate made it so smooth and stress free. The movers led by Mez, showed up EARLY and ready to go, packed everything left to pack including the whole kitchen abd had the truck packed in 4.5 hours. They met us the next day at our new home and unloaded, reassembled, helped breakdown and take boxes. They were very careful with our things, respectful of our time, and safe with covid protocols through out. They even sent us a lovely tote bag and mug a few days later as a gift. This was one of the best moving experiences I’ve ever had and was cheaper than many other companies.
I had my worst ever move experience! The move supervisor was a crook who started asking for cash extras within 30 minutes of arriving at my home. They tried to drag my move out longer than the allotted time so they could ask for extra cash for overtime, they refused to take items that were on my inventory list. Then when my mattress which they folded in half like a hot dog bun was destroyed, the insurance company they use acknowledged my claim but has not responded 30 days after the claim filing! I even bought the upgraded extra insurance their sales person recommended! I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the New York State Insurance commissioner and filing a suit in small claims court. Not only did they destroy my mattress, they dragged my six drawer dresser across the pavement so that there was gravel embedded in the side of the dresser! I would not trust your move to this moving company!
This is the worst moving experience I have ever had. My movers picked up in NYC on 5/14/20 with a move plan to deliver to Austin between 5/20-30. After repeated calls, emails, and phone calls to Customer Service, my move window has come and gone with no call back or confirmation for over a week. It is now 6/2. I would not recommend FlatRate to anyone who wants their belongings back at the agreed upon time. Very disappointed and concerned. I will file a complaint.
Everything about this move was great! On the front end, Manny was an excellent rep and helped me out with a lot of last-minute changes. On the back end, the move team of Isma, Jesus, and Oswaldo were also amazing. They went above and beyond what I expected and did so quickly, efficiently, and were exceptionally friendly the whole time. Everyone along the way was extremely professional, and the team was worth every penny. Ill happily hire FlatRate again.
I used FlatRate Moving for the first time on recommendation from my sister-in-law, and could not be happier with the decision! Steve, Crespo, and Charles were fantastic. They arrived during the time slot and had everything packed up quickly. Not only were they incredibly organized and careful with my belongings, they were efficient, courteous, and provided excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this company and them in particular! Thank you so much for making my move that much easier!!
Great attitude and courtesy at all levels! Great communication at all stages! We moved a 3 bed apartment in NYC into storage. Every item, including small personal items and furniture were methodically packed and marked. At the destination, a lot of care was taken to offload and stack the items by category.Would always recommend Flatrate moving!
Im not going to put a 1 star review because I didnt use the company and I dont mean them any harm, but constructive criticism Dwayne is a $hit salesman. He gave me a high price, I said it was too high and he immediately hung up and then they called me back and asked if I want to take the offer he told me. Dwayne I wish you the best of luck but you really need some training.. Word of advice an informed buyer is a good buyer you going about things wrong. Best of luck
My Flat Rate team was really great. On time, incredibly professional and most of all, so gentle with my stuff. I’ve got a bunch of antiques, and they were so careful, but also so efficient with their time and effort. I give these guys 5 Stars! I’ll move with them when I move again!
Great moving experience! Sandeep and JR were great to work with- always answering calls promptly and dealing with all matters most efficiently. The moving team was skilled packing and unpacking quickly and professionally. This is the second move we used FlatRate Movers and we use them again!
Beware FlatRate Moving is a scam. This company moved me from NYC to Texas. An original painting of mine was damaged in the move. I filed a claim with the company & they said to allow 14-21 days to process, but it has now been 85 days & I have not received my settlement check as promised in March. I have called the Claims department 1-2 a week for the last 3 months and each time I call they say oh your check is going out tomorrow Ill tell them that is what they told me 2 days ago & yet there are no answers. Ive asked for them to email me a picture of the front/back of the check for proof & they say they will then never do. It has been weeks upon weeks of blatant lies to me. They are not to be trusted at all. Do not use FlatRate Moving. They are a dishonorable, scamming company.
Ive moved a lot recently, and FlatRate was by and far the best moving company weve used. The team we used was led by Chase Valdez and included four movers (whose names I wrote down and now cant find--will update the review when I find that paper amidst our boxes). They were on time (slightly early both days, actually), very respectful of our belongings (and actually took the time to walk through the apartment with me to identify any especially important objects), and efficient (done a half hour early on the day of the move at both locations). Nothing was broken, nothing was lost, and everything was smooth as silk. Well absolutely use this team again.
07/ 2019 Flat Rate seems very professional, theyre very courteous, andyou can not beat the price with Flat Rate. 11/24/20 I must with draw my previous good review of Flat Rate Moving. The men that helped me move fought one another verbally about I did this , and you did not do that, it was a mess. I asked them are you going to work or fight, they broke some of my property, and some of my property came up missing. I do not recommend Flat Rate inspite of the low rate. It is not worth the headaches people.Ill never use Flat Rate Moving again. You see, they ask for these reviews before your business has concluded. I shall never again give a review before my business with any company is finished.
Roberto and his team of movers were early, loaded all my items fast and easily adapted to my changing list of items to be moved. They promptly made it to my new location (a little over 2 hours away) and unloaded and reassembled my furniture with an amazing efficiency. If I ever needed to move again, I’d choose FlatRate in a heartbeat.
We just used Flat Rate for a last minute move, and they could not have been any better. From the people setting up the move (Ming) to the actual movers, just top notch. Professional, efficient, nice - I would highly recommend and not hesitate to use them for future moves.
Do not use them! The packers set a fire in our kitchen during packing, filling our apartment with smoke and setting off the building smoke alarms. During the long-distance move, several of our items were missing and found to be left in our storage unit. It took more than 2 weeks for our remaining items to be shipped out to us. Their service is terrible.
Don’t get scammed with these people. Moved from ny to Colorado. Paid extra to have them pack. They changed arrival date, had no idea where truck was, came late, tried to hold my stuff hostage, demanded more money, didn’t unpack and left place in a mess. Do not make the same mistake. So, after I posted our review, Flatrate wrote below stating that they had resolved the issue. They did not. Dont make the same mistake - they just hire contractors that dont care and dont have any desire to make the move a good experience.
Had a very good experience with Flatrate. Very clear about the price. Its pricey but the service was pretty good. I had no concerns once the move started. Actually had a minor anxiety issue prior to their arrival but once they started moving boxes I felt more at ease. Also, had the app where it shows you where the drivers are. Thats pretty cool.
AVOID IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATION IN YOUR MOVE!This is an update to my prior review. The Company reached out to me based on that review. They still dont get it. They told me that based on my poor experience, theyve updated systems--for example, to avoid losing furniture in between their storage facility and the truck. So how does that help me? I again told them I felt I deserved a credit considering that the quality I received did NOT meet the quality I expected considering the price. (Again, on a separate note, they didnt even refund the full amount of the claim I submitted for lost furniture.) In the end, after a lot of back & forth, they gave me another $500, which isnt even 5% off the price. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!Paid a premium price for guy with a truck experience. Problems at each step and unbelievably poor customer service/communication. Moved from NYC to Chicago and initial quotes didn’t make sense, so contacted head of the department to straighten out. Such a hassle, but we thought we were ok. Then, 2 days before our move, we get an email, NOT even a phone call, that because of federal rules for trucker breaks, move needed to be pushed out by 2 days. NOT acceptable, considering everything we had lined up in Chicago to happen post move. And I checked, federal rules didn’t change overnight. Took us ½ day of furious calling to get anyone on the phone. Finally they agreed to keep the date. But then we had to deal with lost furniture. They had a lot of our stuff in storage, so we personally went to the facility to decide what to junk. We physically saw everything in our unit that was supposed to go to Chicago. But bad surprise, they brought an Ikea TV stand (which was supposed to be junked) vs. our antique dresser that is irreplaceable. Also, instead of having 6 guys who moved us out in NYC, we only had 3 guys to move into our new place (which didnt have a service elevator). We ended up rushing around ourselves to get stuff off the truck at the end of the day. Despite that, the drivers took back a box that had one of our dining room chairs on it—and drove off. I was assured numerous times by Management that the antique dresser and dining room chair would be returned. 3 weeks of having to constantly follow up, I get an email to make a claim. Again, not even a call to take responsibility or even apologize. And the money I got back was a joke compared to the value of the objects. Again, if you have any complication in your move, STAY AWAY from Flat Rate.
Just recently used them to do a long-distance move from the Bronx New York to Orlando Florida. Jose was awesome from the beginning going over everything in detail and answering my questions. The day of the move three guys showed up on time and wrapped everything meticulously and completed the job in the estimated time frame. The delivery arrived in Florida during the estimated window. The only small hick up was with the shuttle to transfer my belongings to a smaller truck as opposed to 18 wheeler bc it didnt fit into the community but the guys were willing to move all my belongings which was a complete one bedroom apartments worth of stuff from the main gate to my building which was a bit of a distance but grateful that they were willing to do the job . Id recommend them in a heartbeat I had a lot of glass items and that was my biggest concern. everything arrived in the same condition I left them in (I did go crazy securing the glass items and put fragile tape on the outside of those boxes). Only two or three out of 30 boxes looked a little worn but thats due to loading it at the pick up location putting it in storage until it went on the long haul truck so I expected more roughing up on my boxes in this process. Pick up crew went over everything in detail and put me at ease once I saw them re-wrapping and securing all my items. The drop off crew which was only two men and definitely looked like they needed a break pulled through and reassembled everything. Money wise time wise and energy wise was smarter option then uhauling it down. Thanks flatrate!!!
Great move! Had a great, easy experience. Fast, efficient and professional (magic of a flat rate). Also forgot something in the truck with the dispatcher (thank you Adil!) was incredibly helpful and sent me the missing piece (foot of a bed) by uber. Really great experience.
Extremely disappointing. Please do not us their services. You will notice how quick they are in getting back to you once you are in the process of finding a moving company but after that, youll need to be on top of them to get your updated moving list. Additionally, one of the moving guys steal one of my boyfriends watches, apart from other furniture that they broke during the moving. After that, the money they reimbursed me was only $90 and did not even investigate further about the steal even though I gave names of the guy who did it ... It is been one month since the moving and I still did not receive the check. I also asked for a manager to call me to discuss further about all the incidents we got, I am also still waiting to talk to someone. Very disappointing and waist of money and time.
I worked for FlatRate for about 2 years as a Foreman Driver. Met alot of great people there. Unfortunately opportunity for growth wasnt what it should be. Seen alot of great workers come and go. This company couldve easily been number one in NYC if they knew how to recognize and mold great talent.
Not responsive, I heard lot of good stuffs about this movers from its competitors.Tried calling in for my move to Canada only to find that they do not move from CT to Canada. Customer service person was in a real hurry close out her day and not able to answer any of my queries. Disappointed with response

2022-06-29On June 28 we moved from an apt in East Village over to a storage unit in Brooklyn. The three guys they sent were amazing. The way they packed up our belongs...we had already packed, but they wrapped all the furniture, TV, art work, mattress, etc...was amazing. And, they got everything arranged at our final destination at the storage facility. This was a perfect move. And - no hidden fees. I have moved a lot over the yeas, this was the best experience yet.

2022-06-01I’ve been using flat rate for my moving needs for over 7 years and it’s always a positive experience. The movers are fast, professional and really nice and friendly. Nothing has been damaged or lost. Our most recent move was out of New York to Pennsylvania and they were able to get it done fast. Would recommend flat rate.

2022-04-27I would have given FlatRate Moving 0 stars if that were possible.FlatRate Moving destroyed the leg of our antique family heirloom chair. They hid the damage from us and made the most awful makeshift repair you can imagine. We discovered the broken chair several days after we were in our new location--after we had paid our bill and tipped the crew generously. We submitted a claim. FlatRate has stonewalled us from day one--three months ago. Lip-service about a supposed settlement, how a check would be mailed--and nothing.Customers are putting their possessions at risk with FlatRate Moving.

2022-07-03Can’t believe their dodgy dispatcher quote guy hung up on me when he gave me some BS quote of +$750 after I’ve questioned him why for our local move in Manhattan to Long Island City Storage space!Second floor short walk-up, NO large TV, or furniture items involved in my mini short 3.6 miles haul. Everything already packed, just Clothes in Standard Bankers Boxes and (1) folding Side Table, (1) mini steel tier shelf, (1)tiny wheelie cart. What are these people operating on? Ripping people off con-man, and fraudsters have crossed my mind. I’ve dealt with top notched international well known movers in U.K., Bangkok, Hong Kong, and NYC before and NONE behaved this way. We’ve moved across continents 6-7 times with (2) rescued cats and never encountered such unprofessional disgusting behaviours. Those reputable professional movers were more honest in quoting customers in writing as well.Skip this moving company fast and seek help elsewhere!

2022-07-13Flatrate Move’s salesmen offer a very convincing pitch, but my experience with them did not live up to their promises at all. I paid $2200 to move a total of 42 items, including boxes and furniture, from NYC to Athens GA. This price supposedly included the cost for a shuttle, so that we wouldn’t have an 18-wheeler trying to drive through our small streets. However, when the movers arrived, they were in fact in the 18-wheeler so I don’t know what the point of paying for a shuttle was. Additionally, we were told that the movers would arrive between 2-5pm. They arrived at half past midnight. Worst of all, 4 of my items could not be located in the van, including a large armchair, an ottoman footstool, a box of valuable books and a large box containing framed art. These items total at least $1000 in losses for me. It has been a week since the move, and although the company dispatchers have made vague promises to look for my belongings, I have yet to hear the results of any other efforts being actually made to locate my missing possessions. And this, despite the salespitch including a barcode system supposedly designed to prevent the misplacement or misdirection of items being shipped. Given the magnitude of my lost items, both in terms of physical size and value, and the cavalier attitude of management, I can only firmly recommend AGAINST using Flatrate Move.

2022-06-07I recently hired them. When the two movers came, the truck was already full, and they both kept complaining about how the truck was already near full. Not a great experience and overpriced.

2022-01-28Flat Rate is professional, on-time and super responsive! I am a real estate broker in NYC and I send all my clients to Flat Rate for their moving needs. Moving in or out of an apartment or home is always stressful, but I can honestly say that Flat Rate has always made that process easier and less stressful for all my clients!

2021-08-17After reading the mixed reviews on Flatrate, I honestly did not know what to expect. I can now safely say these guys are great! Our Moving Specialist (Garrett) was courteous, responsive, and very helpful. He walked out unit via Zoom to do an inventory of our apartment which was smooth and efficient. He provided a quote same day and after some back and fourth, we finalized the scope. On moving days, the movers arrived on time and were were moved out of our old place, and into the new one in 6 hours. The movers were well coordinated, took care of our valuables and were lightning quick; it was impressive to see them work.Overall, it was a great experience and I can safely say Id recommend Flatrate for all of your moving needs. Thanks again Flatrate for making a usually stressful process an easy one!

2021-05-30I have used Flatrate moving 5 or so times in the past, never for a move outside of NYC and never again will I use them. I was deeply disappointed on how unprepared they were for my move from Lower Manhattan to Ossining, NY. They were scheduled to move me in an 8-10 hour window. However, the forward planning team that came the day before to pack me out, did not nearly do enough of a job to prepare for the big move day, resulting in 16+ hour day (9AM-1:30AM) and that was with me providing lunch and dinner for the team. I had to put my wife and son in a hotel, because I knew what they promised could not be delivered. The VP of Sales for NY, Dejon Reid, communication to get reimbursed for the hotel to and to voice my displeasure was lacking at best. In one email he wrote to me, he said Sorry your email got buried in the hundreds I look at daily. I found that to be a great excuse by a senior leader. I didnt get a response from him until I threatened to dispute the entire charge, which I am now pursuing since the small credit does not due justice. The team that did show up the day of the move was exceptional, but overworked and underappreciated by Flatrate. Being in the Operations and Logistics field for the last 20 years I can tell how the company really did not care much for their health or wellbeing. The team did not get done with the job they had the day before until very late and then showed up at my place at 9AM, the following day after finishing my delivery at 1:30AM , they were expected to show up at work at 6AM the next day.I personally, would not use Flatrate for any large moves and nothing out the city they are based. I dont find them reliable or resource rich to handle these moves. Good luck with them if you choose to use them.Adam
