We discovered this store on the way to Central Park. We were getting ready for a run in Chicago that was unfortunately canceled due to this virus going around. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend that you visit whether you are a runner or just love to walk. They will help you find the right shoe for you. We can’t wait to go back.
I’ve gone to this store three days in a row trying to get assistance with new running shoes. Every time I’ve gone, not a single employee in the store is wearing a mask, and I’ve had to wait 15 minutes to get them to even notice me waiting to get their attention. I’m glad they’re doing good business but they need to work on COVID protocols and customer service basics.
Waited in the shoe department, trying to get an assistant’s attention, I didn’t even receive an acknowledgment, let alone help. I left and went to Tip Top on 72nd St where I received immediate help and ended up purchasing two pairs of great shoes instead of the one pair I had hoped to get at Jack Rabbit.
Excellent store for runners, they have an immense selection of all types of running gear. They also have treadmills that they use to analyze your running gait to determine which shoe is best for you. Takes a little long to track an employee down to help you, but everyone who works in the store takes their time and are very helpful.
The service here is excellent. All of the staff are very knowledgeable in what you need for running and are really helpful for all types of runners. They do gait analysis here as well and since its so close to the New York Road Runners Run Center it is perfect for picking up race tags and gear/looking for classes all in one place! Ideally one of the best places to shop for shoes in the city!
Giving it 5 stars because the staff and selection here are great! Megan took her time to show me different shoes and discuss what I really needed coming from cross training into endurance running based on my running style and body. No pressure just information and options.. I tried my new kicks next day on a 7 mile run and shin splints gone! Your advice and patience made all the difference I was looking for!
I went in the store midday in the middle of the week to buy a pair of shoes. The man in the sales area had finished helping the 1 other customer in the shoe area and was talking to her about her upcoming race. He completely ignored me and continued to ignore me so I started looking at shoes on the wall and picked a few I wanted to try, thinking he would finish up and help me. I now stood and waited and he never looked at me or made eye contact or showed any plan to help me, though I was standing 3 feet from him. After about 10 more minutes of this, I asked if he could help me and he glared and said Ill be with you in a minute. Then when the other customer finally got up to leave he actually said, nastily, what do you want? I responded that I wanted a pair of Brooks similar to the ones I was wearing, Then instead of asking what activity I used them for or any other helpful question, he said in a hostile tone then I dont know why you picked THOSE shoes. They are nothing like yours. I could describe the rest of the unbelievably rude exchange but in summary, I left without buying shoes and decided that I would never enter that store again. It was a truly shocking experience. I went into the store instead of ordering online so that an experienced salesperson could help me select a pair of suitable shoes. I have now seen several low reviews for this store and saw that the owner responded to the reviews but Im wondering why you arent looking into the customer service in the store. Several of the reviews are close to my recent experience.
Worked with Karlo for about an hour and a half last night to find the shoes and insoles that fit both of my feet. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient and friendly and made sure I left with the right shoes for me. As a beginner it can be a little intimidating to try to figure everything out so it’s nice to be able to go in and try everything out on the treadmill and be confident you’ve found what works best for you. I really appreciate his help and guidance. Put five miles of walking and running in them this morning and they’re perfect. Only problem is the absolutely fugly colorway I bought (thinking I’m supposed to care about comfort not looks) only to see this morning that they also come in black...oh well.
A Great store to buy sneakers. I am a cancer survivor twice so my passion is walking got a wonderful pair of Brooks sneakers thanks to Charles great salesperson very knowledgeable and friendly. Love my sneakers after walking from the Bronx to the store and back a great feeling and my feet feeling wonderful and comfy. Im ready to go back to get another pair of sneakers. Blessings and may everyone visit thos store.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE... I made eye contact and greeted3 employees in the store as I entered. Not ONE responded. Seconds later an older woman entered the area and was greeted by every one of them. Moments later, two gentlemen entered the area and were also greeted. I walked around the area for over 40 minutes and not one time was I asked if i needed help.I would say it was my race, but Rob being the one man of color in the area didn’t speak at all. For 40 minutes I sat and watched each employee run to assist other customers, but not one assisted me. Even after picking up a shoe and looking, I was not assisted. Not once.To then see the employees joking around and laughing while customers were in store shopping and needing attention is ludicrous and unfortunate. I have been able to sit in this shoe area and type this entire review, still NO ASSISTANCE.
This is a must visit place to understand the right choice of shoe for you. I like running and before visiting this place I didnt know that my feet were not landing in correct position while running and there are different shoes to provide my feet support in appropriate areas based on my own needs. Jerry video recorded me on treadmill with my old Nike running shoes, helped me find appropriate pair of shoes and now while running with them I feel the level of comfort which I never experienced before. Some brands here are really overpriced and in that case you would feel compulsion to buy the same shoes either online or from other big outlets.
Mixed experiences with the shoe specialists. The first time I got a sales rep who was very knowledgable and helped match me very well to a new shoe. The second time I got someone who knew on paper what they were talking about, but didnt have actual user knowledge of the shoes. That made it a lot more difficult for me, especially since I was trying out a completely different style of running shoe. Their prices are mixed--on sale, shoes are competitive with online retailers, but you have to scratch your head when you find older models for full price when theyre deeply discounted online.

I love The Running Company! Theyre a full service shop in Columbus Circle, offering shoes, apparel, training programs and more. Theyre in a fantastic location near the park and are friendly to the entire running community, regardless of whether you are using their own store running/training programs, part of others (like Team in Training), or an individual. They offer bag watch to all runners in their store so you can drop and run without any worries! Staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great assortment of clothing, shoes and other gear but prices are in alignment with the upscale Columbus Circle area.
This place is a great place for runners to buy gear. The staff are eager to help you figure out whats best for you. Its not about just another sale but about getting you what you need. Most of if not all the staff here are runners too. The Running Company has group runs that they organize which is also a great way to meet other runners.
Steve took a ridiculous amount of time this afternoon listening to what has worked and not worked for me in the past, updating me on changes in lineups from various manufacturers, and putting great choices in front of me. Turns out the new iteration of my Dynaflytes isnt quite right for me anymore -- and the Mizuno Wave Rider, which I dismissed out of hand for how it performed several years ago, is a terrific match for me today. If you visit at peak period, will you have to wait a few minutes for that kind of advice? Maybe. But Ive never been disappointed at JackRabbit since they recommended I try a pair of Adi Supernovas like 100 years ago.
I was looking for running shoes to train for a half marathon, and Wilson was excellent in helping me select a pair! He was very thorough, I tried on about 5 pairs of shoes and he never rushed me. He watched my feet as I ran on the treadmill for all 5 and talked to me about my gait and gave me solutions! I would highly recommend going!
Terrible service..!I purchased a pair of Turbo pegasus ,i got an email saying that there inventory was wrong and that they do not have that model,i asked for another colorway same model“We cant do that for that price”Wow like it was my fault you had a shoe on your website for sale that you never had”Way to go jackrabbit ..!Awsome customer serviceAt least running warehouse mans up to there mistakes
When I came in and bought running shoes (for $160), they were incredibly warm and friendly. Ive since been back to pick up little things, like sports gels, etc. Each time it feels like they cant be bothered with me. Maybe I need to wear a sign that says Ive spent a lot of money with you before....
Went in to purchase a pair of running shoes.Tried them on and even went for a video gait analysis (which I am not sure was done correctly by the store rep). They didnt have the color/pattern I was looking for but they said that it would get shipped from their Boulder, Colorado location. Days later and no call as promised. I now need to go elsewhere or online to buy the model I was hoping for.Due to their proximity, I will probably visit again for small items, but it is far from my A list due to the disconnect in customer service.
Wow, i loved my visit here. They get busy there, so if you should be patient to get some help. Once you do, they will outfit you with the shoe that works for you! Besides that, they are the dream land of all things pertaining to running, so if you need some gear, you can get it there. Conveniently by Central Park, and lots of other high end shopping.
On a trip from Europe, we got some running gear here today. They were very helpful and pro-active with some great tips on using the gear, and better alternatives for what we were originally looking for.Since the NYC Half Marathon is our first half marathon ever, we got some great tips about that as well, especially since the first and toughest 10+k is inside Central Park so you need to make sure to strike a balance there. Were gonna meet some of the team at the NYC Half Marathon on St Patricks day, and got invited to a wind down run in the week after the run.Highly recommended shop with enthusiast and knowledgeable people. Will certainly pay them a visit again in the future.
Returned a pair of Altra Torin with the hope of exchanging for another Altra model with a wider profile in the mid foot area. My inquiry was met with no beneficial information other than “call the manufacturer”. When I queried regarding alternative brands / models i was again met with nothing substantive. As a long time supporter of Jack Rabbit stores in NJ and Manhattan I was both shocked and dismayed. All our purchases of athletic apparel/footwear shall now be given to independently owned businesses. If possible I would return all items procured from Jack Rabbit Sports in the past year.
If youre in the market for running shoes or apparel, or even just have some questions about running in general, then New York Running Company is where you need to be. Located on the second floor of the Columbus Circle Shops, this place is expansive, and boy does it have some great customer service. Ive come here on several occasions to check out some new running shoes and snag some new shorts and tops and have had a great experience each time. When you walk in, youre greeted with their apparel section. From Asics to Mizuno to Nike and New Balance, they pretty much have every major running label here so selection is not an issue. Make your way towards the back of the store, and there youll find the shoe section. Here is where Id say youll spend the most of your time at. Whether or not you know exactly which shoe you want, or need a ton of help, NYRC is there to help you. With their specialists, theyll help do a quick gait analysis from you running on their treadmill, and then assist you in picking out your next pair of running shoes. At NYRC, Ive purchased compression socks, shoe inserts, and other random tidbits. After every purchase here, I am left feeling that I had made an informed decision that will, in the end, help me with my runs. NYRC spares nothing when it comes to quality and customer service, and thus, I am a happy customer. For those who are members of NYRR, you get a nice 10% off your purchase here.
I was just in this store and was completely ignored for at least 30 mins while other people were being helped. Am I being cruel because they were overrun and busy? No. They were picking and choosing customers. I know its NYC, so there are many people wealthier than I am, but you just lost a sale on the $150 shoes I planned on buying. For people that sell running shoes these fools sure dont know the meaning of hustle
The staff member who served me didnt know what an elliptical machine was. I told him I wear asics and he brought me brooks shoes and Nike (apparently the Nike rep was at the store that day). And then he sold me the worst rated asics after spending an entire hour at the store. I will be returning the shoes but the time I unfortunately spent is non refundable...
Fitted me for a pair of shoes - Brooks. Took about a month of low mileage training (5 miles / week) and just walking around in them to develop calf and Achilles pain. Called and asked for suggestions. They advised not to walk in the shoes between runs because they arent made for that because I am using other muscles when I walk (!) that walking in them a few days a week might be overdoing it (!) That I should wear other shoes until pain goes away (!) That I should also Roll, stretch, and get a lot of rest (!) Maybe their shoe fittings should come with a PT pamphlet and coupons for therapy. Thanks a lot .
Best place for running things. Most sales people are experienced runners. Advice on which running clothing works best is spot on. Skeptical, at first that a running jacket could be comfortableto run in 20 degree weather. Suggestion perfect. Recommendations on sneakers for running perfect. Now love Hoka sneakers. Running in the air!
A wide selection of products. There are a lot of energy gels that I have never seen in Japan. Also, from the day after the New York City Marathon, products related to the New York City Marathon were sold at a discount of 3%. Although it was sold at a fixed price in Central Park ... And Jack Rabbits events are almost at this store. I participated in the 5km run before the New York City Marathon. I was able to get many things after participating.
The welcome was very good, as was the variety of items for running and other disciplines since the store is relatively large compared to other branches. There were no Spanish-speaking people, however the staff tried to advise us in English as well as possible. They have brands such as #hoka #brooks #saucony #on and also have a wide range of proteins, energizers, moisturizers, supplements etc. I got a huge impression because they have a club for Runners in central park. Payment methods, #visa #mastercard cash. I loved it, EYE: it is located on the second floor from the left side to the bottom, you hardly see it.
It is a store with a variety of products but I think everything is very expensive. If you are not looking for something very specific is better another type of store that you will find better prices if on the other hand you are looking for something more specific and professional, this is a good shop to look at .... The dependents are pretty good. The store is very well taken care of and if you are by the Park of the Center of the City of New York ... it catches you very well.I recommend if you look for something pro.

2022-01-11Newbie runner, starting the journey and the staff were helpful, insightful and completely professional here. I went in to get fitted for my first pair of running shoes. They explained what I should be looking for in a shoe, evaluated my walking, and educated me on body mechanics so I could make an informed decision about the shoes they recommended. They patiently answered all of my questions, and I walked out with exactly what I was looking for. Your feet are in good hands here!

2022-03-26Really nice folks (Melissa) gave me good advice re my special needs/ortho mess and I am very pleased with HOKA Speedgoats. Stable and soft on the knee and heel but Vibram sole so I feel like I am stable on most any surface. Thanks!

2022-04-13After a disappointing outing in an another shoes store came here with not much expectations but Jeff was the rep who took me on immediately. He was nice warm and helpful. We tried different shoes and finally we zeroed into my need. Tested and tried it inside the store. Walked out a happy customer. Would strongly recommend this store, it’s right bang out side Central Park. They also had a very nice spread of running fuels, I would recommend that section too!

2022-04-29Shout out to the sales associate Kendrick, he was incredibly nice and helpful!I had been dealing with some foot pain and my orthodontist recommended I come here to find the right shoes for my feet. Kendrick helped me take a foot scan and then brought out a bunch of shoes that would be good for me. He was super patient and was clearly dedicated to finding me the perfect shoes. I ended up buying a pair of Sauconys right on the spot. I would definitely go back!

2022-05-10Frustrating. My 3rd try at getting a pair of sneakers. Each time I waited at least 15 minutes to even get someone to acknowledge me. Twice, I then waited another 15-20 minutes before someone could actually help me. I had to leave. This, because the first time it took so long for the salesperson to get sneakers (is the basement enormous or something?), taking that into account, I ran out of time again. Folks, its obvious to everyone else waiting that you need more staff. If you cant afford the payroll, perhaps rethink things?

2019-04-13It’s a very nice store. Everyone was friendly. They measure and recommend shoes. The only problem I had, they didn’t record my last transaction so I couldn’t get the 20 discount until manager got involved.
