Flixbus - Midtown in New York
I was traveling from Philly to NY when our bus broke down on the turnpike. We had waited on the side of the road for 3 hours with tractor trailers whizzing by us causing the bus to shake. The driver should have requested a state trooper park behind us to slow traffic as they drove by. We finally loaded onto another bus that also had to pull off the highway to check something out. Through all this the Wi-Fi and phone chargers did not work as has often been my experience on Flixbus. To add insult to injury, I requested a refund and was denied. Apparently once the trip is under way any delay is not their responsibility. Buyer beware-you get what you pay for.
I know it s cheap price but when it has a problem they have very unprofessional service to take care of customer. Such as delay bus problem. Most of the driver is chinese and yes they should have better English skill for communicate with the customer. Right now im stand over here 4.03 pm. My schedule is 4.00 pm. Rn i dont know what s going on. No one here to tell the passengers. We r all standing outside. Only one chinese driver in the bus but he didnt came out to explain to us what happen how long we have to wait. Or what we should so. He just lock the bus door. One passenger knock the door but he didnt open. Very very poor customer service. If u dont want to take a risk. U can go to megabus. I know that expensive when it peak time. But yeah if u need to travel on the regular time. Just go by low price megabus. Let say. My ticket today from flixbus is 15.99 before tax and service etc. megabus is $17.99. Or maybe u can go with peterpan. It is $20. No extra charge
Absolutely horrible experience with Flixbus. First bus broke down at 6pm. Second bus broke down at 8pm on the highway. Driver parked the bus super dangerously on the highway. He then suggested passengers to go out and for a walk. The police had to come and ask everyone to board again as it was too dangerous. Staff were inexperienced and jumped on another flixbus, leaving the passengers behind.#Flixbus
Been using their services for 3 months now, twice every week, and every time I say I’ll give them another chance, and they disappoint. Most of the time, there are no signs showing the bus’s destination, so you just have to make a wild guess which bus is the one taking you to your destination. Drivers haven’t received any kind of costumer service training and most of the time they’re either shouting at or dismissing costumers, like we’re on some kind of a 5th graders’ trip field. Today I’m taking the bus from NYC to Boston and it literally smells like a public bathroom!
I’ve taken dozens of buses between DC/NY and this flixbus was the worst by far, I think it was a mechanical issue with the bus bc I heard the driver express his frustration when we switched drivers 5 hours into the 4 hour drive.. bad communication, super late arrival, and it was by far the most uncomfortable bus ride I’ve ever been on. The bus was lurching between every small slow down/ speed up even when we were out of the city on the highway. I highhhhhly recommend getting another bus!
I am trying so hard to get my suitcase back, left it on the bus but came back within 15mins and they were gone.I have tried so hard to contact someone by phone, by email, live chat, online forms. No response. Literally the worst! Why is it so hard to help your own customers?!
Took the 7am NYC to Hartford bus that left on time and got there early. Bus driver was prompt, scanned tickets quickly, and gave hand sanitizer. Seats were clean, and had plastic bags for trash, no table tray though. Wi-Fi worked for checking basic sites. Love how the seats are assigned so overbooking cant happen (looking at you greyhound). Tickets were only $12 if booked early so cant complain for the price. As is with public transportation, your experience may vary depending on your fellow passengers, and if you take a busier bus.
I used Flixbus when I visited Newyork and I can say the service was fair and the journey smooth. There were charging outlets in the bus and wifi services. It was clean and trash bags were stationed by each seats. The only downside was the narrow legroom which made sitting uncomfortable. The seats felt so hard. These were just the downside of the bus .
Its just an empty parking lot outside Penn Station. I wouldnt have cared much about that, but on top of it one of the staff members told us the bus had broken down and there was another one coming in 40 minutes. After thoss 40 minutes he informed us the bus was going to get there in about 90 more minutes. We just had to wait there. Nowhere to sit. The staff didnt seem to care much nor they seemed to concerned about the huge delay.
Completely dependent on the driver. Ive had great, timely experiences before. Today on the bus to Boston, the driver did not know where the stop was. We drove in circles for 50 minutes. He got on the highway heading out of Boston. I had to give him my phone for directions. Didnt make it to the stop, the whole bus just decided to make him let us off on the sidewalk
I’ve had the weirdest experience just now.The bus was late 30 mins. Traffic jams happen, so I’m pretty understanding. I didn’t know that at the time and called the support agent. After telling him my booking number and stuff, They said that “bus passengers already reported present”. Which literally isn’t true. The bus pulled up as he was telling me that lol. Not sure how THAT mixup happened.I asked the bud driver when we got to Philly and was like “oh yeah traffic jam”. How hard is it for the customer support to tell me that? Something is wrong with this process lmao. Luckily I had another person with me so I wasn’t gaslitOverall only negative experience I’ve taken this another time and it went smoothly lol
Its outside, so not the best bus stop for the winter, also its not always easy to figure out which bus is yours.Besides the bus drivers not speaking much English, they are professional drivers, quick and efficient, I was always on schedule with them. And they even did amazing driving on the show.
This was my first ride. GET BUS FROM CORNER OF W. 31 ST AND 8 AVE IN NYC. ALMOST GOT WRONG BUS. WORKER DID NIT KNOW AND HAD TO ASK ANOTHER WORKER.. SMALL SEATS BOUGHT 2..LATE FRIM DC TO NC PUT IFF IN SHOPPING CENTER AT 130AM IN THR MORNING..DRIVER WAS LATE GETTING US THERE...DRIVER WAS NOT FEELING TOO WELL AND BUS WAS GOING IFF ROAD A BIT..I SAID HEY TO DRIVER..IT WSS CALLED THE WILLIAMS FLIX BUS..I MIGHT TRY AGAIN.
Zero stars for me. I used flixbus for my sons trip from new hampshire to nyc and he was left stranded and i was notified 5min prior. They then only had buses the following day. I had to taxi him to boston to take a train. I was refunded but nothing else for the headache. This was my first time using this service.
Took FlixBus last week to Philadelphia as they were the cheapest around at $12. Bus was clean and the driver was courteous.I found legroom to be very restricted compared to other buses like Peter Pan, and did not see any outlets or USB’s near seat. Plus WiFi was really slow too, though it did work.Bus left 2 minutes late (nearly on time) and got to Philadelphia 15 minutes early.
Unlike the Megabus, they have a dedicated parking lot you can stand and wait at. I find the Flixbus to be more punctual while at a cheaper cost. Its also less awkward to wait around compared to occupying the sidewalk. Its also pretty close to the ACE lines and Penn Station for transfers.
Left late, arrived late, made a couple of unannounced stops on the way. The New York departure area is very poorly signed and theres no communication with travellers when they delay buses. Would be very helpful to have a dedicated person on site to communicate changes in schedule and organize the passengers waiting for their buses. Some passengers in front of us tried to ask when the delayed bus would leave - they were polite, but the driver yelled at them, and my partner and I moved away from the bus because it seemed like it might escalate. The bus was clean and the WiFi worked... But in my experience, other bus companies will get you from city to city with less hassle!
Me and my friend got tickets to New York from Philadelphia on 11/27/2021 at 08:25 pm and since the beginning our bus driver was terrible disrespectful and grumpy, First time I had to ask him something he had his earphones on and couldn’t listen what we were saying so he was like (??????), also while we were going inside the bus I could see that another guy was making questions to this driver and the driver said ( I don’t care), yeah this exactly same words. He had no patience at all and should not be working with people. I paid for this tickets and felt incredibly disrespected.
I had a bitter sweet experience with. The first time I used Flixbus, my bus left on time, my driver was polite, the bus was clean and I got to my destination on time. Two days later when I was scheduled to return back to NYC and take the 1pm bus leaving Washington DC the bus never came. After 1 hour of waiting, I decided to call customer service to ask about the status of the bus. The representative said she doesn’t know what time the bus will come and she was unable to track it. It was not until 2 hours later that we received an email informing us that the bus is running late and our sit number has been changed. A few minutes after that we received another email stating that the trip from DC to NYC was canceled and there is no bus coming. Luckily they issued us a refund and I was able to catch another bus from union station.
They’re unable to use technology! I waited the bus at least four hours. The customer service said that they couldn’t reach the bus conductor and find where the bus was. The application showed that the bus would come in time;however, the bus have never showed up. My hotel reservation was canceled because I couldn’t check in the time. The company denied to pay my spendings. The funny thing is that when I requested my hotel spendings, they said the company won’t pay the leisure time spendings! They just paid the ticket price with promotion code! They are untrustworthy because they always use the same FABRICATED ACCUSE, like “they couldn’t reach their bus conductor and they couldn’t find where the bus is” if you get those answers from the customer service, you will be sure that you cannot go to wherever to go.
Took 6+ hours from Boston to NYC (was supposed to be 5) and the driver didn’t communicate any updated ETAs, or communicate at all, with anyone in the bus. I reserved a seat and was given the option to reserve the seat next to me for an extra fee, and when I got on the bus I was told that everyone could just sit wherever they wanted. I then was challenged for the seat next to me because the bus was almost completely full. there were no outlets and half of the people weren’t wearing masks, and that wasn’t enforced. Overall, makes sense it was so cheap
Trash. First and last time I use. There is no customer service line so when my bus was an hour late I had no clue how to get I. Touch with someone to figure it out. No other drivers were helpful or knowledgeable at all. Our bus driver was rude and a horrible driver with people constantly beeping him the entire trip to Boston. The entire bus smelled like urine and was poorly made because you felt every bump and heard it as there was constant squeaking. I just want my refund back.
I got a ticket to New York from Philadelphia. The bus never came to the stop. I called customer service all to no avail. Thats bad. We all had to take another bus to New York . We were over 5 passengers. I want my refund because I got there right on time. No emails from you guys , that really socks.
Cancelled my trip from New York to Philadelphia with exactly 17 minutes of notice, left me standing in the cold with all my luggage. No one called me, no employees were there, just a text and thats it. Didnt even have the decency to automatically refund me, I had to call them to get a refund. Never again.
Cheap so thats good but do not pay extra for seat reservation or travel neighbor-free. These mean nothing. Also, Must ask around to find your bus. And, I recommend downloading the app to be the first to see if you bus will be late for pickup - email will be sent a bit later if your bus is going to run late.
Filthiest bus I’ve been on thus far. I’ve been on the same route on a different bus (Ourbus) which was $10 cheaper but the bus was properly cleaned, the WiFi was dependable and the bathroom usable. Will not be riding Flixbus again. Please service your buses better. I’m from a third world country where this is a better contender than in the US.
This company does not honor purchased tickets. Despite paying extra to reserve a specific seat, and despite showing up 15 minutes before departure, the company did not allow me to board the bus. Whats more, the company did not offer a ticket on a later bus or to refund the ticket. The savings offered by low ticket prices become useless when the company blatantly breaks its agreements with consumers. This kind of fraudulent business should not be allowed to exist.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. So me and my friend are booking seats to Bing, and she booked the wrong seat. I decide to cancel the booking with the seat 8A and make it 7A which is the seat behind hers. This was all within 40 minutes. They did not give me a refund, and instead gave me a voucher worth 2 dollars less than the price I payed for the ticket. There was no visible option to change the seat within the booking. My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.
For my trip from Washington D.C. to New York, I choose to use FlixBus since I am a frequent customer of #flixbus in Germany and Europe. I am excited about the trip but it turns out to be a horrible experiencesthay, the bus stop at a gas station and the driver announced to take a break forOn e w 30 minutes. I went for food and when I came back in 25 minutes, the bus was gone. I left all of my belonging containing my suitcase, my computer; Ipad; keys; warm clothes; and especially my passport and money. I have nothing with me except for my jeans, hoodie, and smartphone. I am in the middle of nowhere and not even have enough warm clothesI immediately search for #customersupport of FlixBus but on G+oogle search, I only got the German one. i call but no one picks up since it is like 2 am in Europe, I even call #911( image) for help and the police got me the hotline number of FlixBus in the USI got into the hotline after 30 minutes of waiting, I explain my situation and ask a favor of the CS team to call the driver and preserve my luggage. The guy told me that they do not allow to or do not have it but they will note it to the driver.+ I got socked, I have nothing with me, I booked Uber to Greyhound Bus stop nearby but they sold out a ticket to New York that day. The lady at Greyhound told me that I should come back to the gas station, wait there and just add for a ride. I call FlixBus again since my bus has arrived at Newyork, they said that they have no info from the bus driver about my luggage. Then I ask further info about any FlixBus will come from DC to NY ( I know that there are more via my app) would go this way; might stop at this gas station that I can buy a ticket go to NewYork with them. The guy said I can not do so due to company policy... even though I explain to her that I have nothing with me, not even warm clothes in minus degree weather in the middle of nowhere. I even urge to talk to her supervisor to further assist me but they said they only got Danish supervisor atm. I ask for their flexibility and understanding but nothing comes. I remember what they said to me I HEARD THAT BEFORE AND I AM SURE YOU COULD FIGURE IT OUT YOUR SELF.That hurting me a lot, I feel like being betrayed by my friend since I like FlixBus a lot like a friend just turn back on me while I am facing difficulties+ I wait, and luckily a guy from Dc Trails Hop On Hop Off (image) just say get on let me go to New York for free and remember this guy COUNT CUSTOMER BEFORE LEAVING THE GAS STATION TO MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE LEAVE BEHIND+ I am in New York, I am depressed, I have no clothes in -8 degree, no passport no cash but still I got my smartphone and Google Pay.I just ask FlixBus to call the driver to ask whether he found something. If he found st; I wait for the return process if he did not I just make a new passport and fly back to Germany right away. After 14 days of waiting; after your drivers costing me lots of money from losing computers, iPad, clothes to cancel the hotel, flight making a new passport, I received an email as stating in the procedure after 14 days they said that they can not find it. I have no hope of it and will go through the process to make my new passport and fly back to Germany. Bye-bye #newyork and FlixBus***Just wonder how can FlixBus in US is so bad***1. The driver is the worst, do not have clear communication with the customer, do not count customer onboard to avoid missing one2..The Operation systems are the worst, they do not know who drives the bus and keep control it, they can not even contact their own driver3. the customer support team is the worst, very bad communication with customer, long waiting time and have no solution and sympathy for customer problems
This overrated proposterous scandalous bus company has robbed me of my patience, time, and most importnatly my customer exeprience. And my money. Their lack of communication demonstrated throughout the hassling process has lead me to make this poor evalulation. They changed my ticket WITHOUT notice, and after failed to send the QR codes needed to scan my new tickets. Then later today, I was informed the ticket has been cancelled, without a refund or voucher. And their customer service team is horrible, failing to even process what I have spoke of.
When I downloaded the app I had some trouble checking out. According to reviews, you have to enter a new email address every time. For the cheap price of a round-trip from NYC to DC, making some junk emails is absolutely worth it.Bus arrived to midtown Friday at 8:15am for our 8:30 trip. Less than half full. Stopped for 15 mins halfway at a food court. Pretty smooth ride. Driver liked to honk but what New Yorker doesnt. Outlets located between the seats worked fine. Arrived 15 mins early.Love that I can pay to offset carbon emissions-should be a required fee for everyone tbh.Smoothest bus experience Ive had. If youre choosing between Greyhound and Flixbus, go with Flixbus.Edit: Sunday return trip is about 80% full and USB ports are above the seat where you can turn on a light.
Took the 1:10 am bus to dc so I could sleep on the way but unfortunately that wasn’t the case because we had the worse driver who was driving recklessly as well as smoking on board and couple of noisy passengers who were loudly talking on the phone and bothering others. Won’t travel with flu bus if they don’t inspect and take matters like this seriously!
Bus to Ithaca was clean and comfortable but very late. No comfortable place to wait in the hot sun at Flixs midtown stop. No way to reach customer service to find out status of bus. Wifi did not work on the way to or from Ithaca. Fine but did not satisfy advertised expectations.
Giving them one star is generous enough. Of course the ticket was cheap and I expected there to be a little delay of 10-20 minutes. Not an entire HOUR+. What’s even worse is that they don’t mention that there is another stop they have to do in order to reach my destination. This company makes its money off of ripping people off and not telling them the truth.
Took Flixbus for the first time a couple days ago round trip from NYC to DC, and i will definitely say i was impressed, tickets were cheap, buses were modern and clean, not packed, drivers were very professional and safe. I also had to switch my return trip to a earlier date and i handled all that within the app. I will definitely be using Flixbus for future trips, 100% better than Megabus and greyhound!
I miss Eastern Bus.bus arrived a little late, but nothing too serious. after the buyout; Easterns old buses were traded in for newer, more updated buses. however, these buses have a lot less leg room and dont recline a good distance compared to OurBus or even Eastern, the bus was clean though.wifi was okay at first, but got worse along the ride.also, bus drivers drove somewhat eratically. speeding, rapid lane changes, slamming on brakes; but it got us to our destination faster.their spot in Midtown is a makeshift parking lot, but its location to transport (across the street from Penn Station) is really good.
Took a FlixBus to Boston and then a second one on the way back. They were vastly different experiences. The first arrived 30 minutes early to my location. Cost about $20 to ride, $2 to reserve a seat. WiFi was fine, free movies and books through their portal. There were two outlets per set of seats. The bus however didn’t arrive until like 10 minutes before we had to leave the station (rather than the 15 that the website tells individuals to). Nice enough seats, pretty comfy, nice and high (I’m 5’6” and my feet didn’t touch the floor went sitting back). The windows are nice and large.Of course I’d never suggest someone use the bathroom unless it’s an emergency. It’s a straight drop from the seat into a sloshing tank of the blue liquid from portapotties. Pee at your own risk as a bump could send some splash back up at your bottom. The second bus has lower seats that were smashed together. When the guy in front of me leaned back, my knees touched the seat in an uncomfortable way. There was no WiFi on board, though that is what I paid for. Also, the outlets that were available, did not work. About 10 times along the trip the bathroom would randomly emit this large slam noise as something was knocked around followed by a very scary splash. We had 15 minutes to grab lunch at a Burger King along the way which was nice and unexpected though made us not arrive early as I always wish for.
Tell me how I’m supposed to rate this any higher than 1 star when on a Friday the bus driver leaves Boston 10 minutes late then on the way to NYC he stops at Burger King and then at McDonald’s so he can get food for himself as traffic piles up. Poor execution Driver of Flixbus. You get no stars for this 6 hour journey.
I’m suppose to give them zero star instead of one star because their services were so terrible at new york area. The instruction of bus stop was not clear and we waited that spot for over pick up time where the bus was supposed to pick up us. However, we didn’t see any bus coming, so we tried to call them. No phone number on their website and finally found their service on 34 st. They didn’t even apologize it to us and said “you have to wait there until the bus is coming”... We can’t get any refund of the ticket. App is not informative as well... Never ever take this bus again!
Never traveled with flixbus. Never will. On 295 south/ GW parkway--a horrible strip known for accidents-- flixbus was tailgating me with heavy traffic due to....a traffic accident. When he finally passed black dude driving bus 9926 flipped off everyone, then continue to practice extremely dangerous driving right up New York Avenue/ rt. 50 into DC. FYI aggressive driving is now a crime in Maryland and DC.
I was trying to buy my two tickets from Washington DC with destination to Manhattan, but the internet page was having some connection troubles, so I had to try two times. It supposes that the first time the purchase wasn’t successful because the payment never loaded and any charge appeared in my bank account. So I had to try for a second time and in this one I received the confirmation and the charge immediately. But was until later that I received another charge in my bank account for other two tickets! The purchase was double by accident. I never used those tickets and now they are charged.I called a lot to the customer service, and the man who answered me wasnt nice and didnt give me a solution. They just stole my money! $100! I will never travel in this company again.
Their services is poor.Instructions were not clear of the bus stop, and there were like 10 people equally confused. When I tried to express my concern at their counter in Union Station I was received by two very disrespectful ladies that yelled to customers and even called security when they were the ones being disrespectful, they yelled at is that they only sold tickets and they cant do anything. They told me the only choice I have is to buy another ticket, so I did. Moments later the same lady that told to buy another ticket, was giving an exchange of ticket for another time to another customer, she simply at the beginning didnt want to help us.Their customer phone number is a disaster. I tried calling them to verify the bus stop and nobody answered for almost 40 min.I dont recommend this company at all.
Took trip to DC after Amtrak cancelled. Amazing that it’s right next to Moynihan so you don’t have to trek back up to Port Authority. It was super cheap $32 a person- this included one piece of luggage to go under bus and one to carry on. You could pay for additional luggage. It was a direct trip- so no stops. Got to DC just under 4.5 hrs. Get dropped off at the corner of NY ave and 6 th St. Bus was quiet. Driver announced for people to use headphones and to not be loud on phones. Most people had masks on. Bathroom was clean. Power at base of seats. Overall, a pretty great experience, especially compared to the Martz bus I took not too long ago. While there isn’t a space to wait— you just have to be there 15 min before bus leaves. The Local NYC rooftop cafe/bar is within eye sight of the bus- so you can hangout there until you have to line up to get onto the bus.
I am completely displeased with the customer service. The seating arrangements were unorganized and the tickets are overpriced. As a returning customer, I surely will not take this bus route in the future. The quality of service and comfort have declined over the years.
Left a bag on the bus. Notified the company right away. None of the bus offices have direct phone numbers. Customer service was useless. Despite multiple follow ups for 2 weeks, no one can tell me the status of my luggage. Its not clear if anyone even tried to look for it. Customer service has no access to the lost and found department. You absolutely get what you pay for. Very disappointing.
I was aware of the negative reviews but it was fine. The bus stop in midtown NYC is not yet on Google maps, but theres a new (small) bus station on 31st St and 8th Ave - complete with green Flixbus signage. The driver? Pretty normal for NYC - not super friendly but gets the job done. Bus left on time. It was a clean new bus. I hear this is a European company trying to break into the US market, so tickets are cheap for now as they want market share. Would book again.
I saw a lot of bad reviews after buying a round trip ticket from nyc to Richmond, and I got a bit worried. But generally my experience riding with flixbus was very professional and seamless. I think the outlets didnt work and the WiFi was a bit unreliable, but otherwise it was a very normal reliable service.
DONT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY.I was 30 minutes before the departure time on the bus stop, along with 6 other people. The bus DIDNT COME, we tried calling the company and they said we had missed it and were at the wrong stop, which was ABSURD. It ruined my plans for the trip, I had to run to another company and beg them for a bus ticket on the same day. Just save yourself the headache, pay more and book with a TRUSTWORTHY company.
Boston area was excellent 5 stars.1.New York service was awful and horrifying. We simply asked the bus driver if a certain bus was going to Boston at a specific time, he looks at us and says “how would I know” and proceeds to get on that bus we had a question about and shut the door. That was just utterly rude.2. The bus’ bathroom was TERRIFYING. Looked like it wasn’t cleaned in months. It smelled like pee. The floor was sticky from how much pee was on there. YIOKKESSS

2021-09-24I’m rating the station more so than the bus service. It’s easy to get there which is really great, and it’s right across from Madison Square Gardens which you’ve got to love! 😍 That said, it’s pretty dysfunctional depending on whether your bus is on time or not, and there’s no real line system. It doesn’t sound like a big deal until you’re sharing a parking lot with 5 Flixbuses and 50 people trying to figure out where they’re going.

2022-03-11The bus arrived 20 min late without any notice. When the bus finally arrived, this very rude driver was standing near the entrance and didnt help anybody. Why are you asking? You dont see the sign?...There were 4 buses around, and there were supposed to be 10am and 10:30am to go to Philly. Driver refused to answer to questions.Take the seat! Put your luggage down!...I felt as if I arrived to prison when he was speaking such a rude language. He did the exactly same things to other passengers. Thanks for making us very uncomfortable. Flexi bus never again.

2021-09-02I can only share my own experience, but I think its indicative of how FlixBus works and operates as a business. I hope that Im honest about the experience without deceiving anyone.Personally, I had a great time with my trip from New York to Boston. Hurricane Ida hit the city harder than eleven freight trains, and the driver still showed up relatively on time, got everyone on board efficiently and got where he needed to on time. The bus is fairly old and smudged with grime, but Flixbus doesnt provide their own buses. Thats when you realize why the company is littered with amazing and horrendous reviews.Flixbus is an app that pretends to be a bus company: it basically offers existing bus drivers, regardless of reputation or otherwise, a chance to drive people constantly with bottom barrel prices. All Flixbus does is give stickers denoting seat reservations and a green coat of paint to a drivers bus.And honestly, Flixbus is a great app. Its efficient, fast, and guarantees prices significantly cheaper than Amtrak and Greyhound. It even gives you practical full refunds, even at the very last second...In the form of a voucher for another Flixbus trip. Whether you like it or not, once you buy that ticket, youre stuck with Flixbus. And Flixbus is a gamble. You might get a ride on par, or even better than a standard Greyhound ride; you might get a ride straight out of a horror movie and have your belongings stolen. Depending on when you book a trip, you might be stuck with regular people, or some sketchy folks who cant get a credit card without getting arrested. You might even be stuck with a seat right next to a broken septic tank of a toilet, caked thick with excrement. Youre paying as little as possible to gamble your enjoyment of a bus trip. This isnt a denouncement of the company, or a condemnation of the angry reviewers who warn new customers to never book a trip with Flixbus. This is to say youll get what you pay for at worst, or be pleasantly surprised at best.Heres some helpful tips to maximize the chances youll be fine on any potentially sketchy bus ride:1. Reserve your seat. It might not be honored judging from the dozens of 1 star reviews, but having agency to sit as far away from the bus toilet is probably step 1 to a great bus ride.2. Book for early mornings and weekdays. Why try and risk booking at nights and weekends when its the busiest? Itll also help ensure your reservation stays valid even as you board.3. Carry light and dont leave your belongings while you leave the bus. Sometimes the bus driver can be thoughtless and unprofessional enough to leave 5 minutes early from the promised 30 for a rest stop. But dont act shocked when your unattended belongings get lost.Anyway, if you want consistency, take Amtrak. It might be potentially hundreds of dollars more expensive booked last minute, but youll never have a bad experience taking a train. Or stick to Greyhound, Peter Pan, Wanda Bus, or the many other established bus companies for the extra 20 dollars. But hey, 20 dollars is a lot of money you can save for something nice for yourself.

2022-05-12Its the only Bus company i use now, getting to and from my home in Philadelphia to my Moms home in NYC. Staff is friendly and helpful and respectful. Easy to get to & easy on my wallet which is the Best part for me. Tickets are reasonable & dirt cheap, You cant ask for anything more from a bus company. Its easy to book and cancel or reschedule your trips, no having to call or deal with rude company associates. Buses are fresh and clean. I booked my latest trip with them & now Im back home in Philly. Best prices anywhere, easy on your wallet and or purse.

2022-07-16Our bus was delayed 45 minutes to Boston without any notifications. We appreciated our bus driver’s effort to make up time, but it was quite a bumpy ride. Besides that, it was ridiculously inexpensive and got us to exactly where we wanted to be!

2022-04-13The way they pack these buses... Ill never eat sardines because I now know how they feel (or maybe I will out of mercy...). Otherwise, the driver this time around was actually friendly. Also, I typically use half a bottle of sanitizer on these trips. Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh, makes you miss when Amtrak wasnt worth the cost of a flight, but you truly get what you pay for, even if you think youre paying for a nearly-empty bus as advertised.

2022-05-16This is a review for the bus service. A bus traveling from DC to NYC broke down midway through the ride. Smoke filled the cabin, and we were evacuated to a small gravel lot on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike that was completely cut off from any opportunities to get food, water, shelter, or alternative rides. After HOURS of waiting in the hot sun, Flixbus told us we could rebook for a Flixbus the NEXT DAY for $80 reimbursements, or we could find our own place ways around, and that they canceled the trip, ie after hours of waiting for another bus, there wouldn’t be one. The messages sent to passengers of this ride made it very clear that headquarters had absolutely no idea about the reality of what was going on. This was not a situation where people had other transit options to rely on. People were LITERALLY TRAPPED on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. We could NOT leave to go to a gas station, to find a bus, to book a hotel: we were trapped by wild brush, a huge fence with barbed wire, and a highway that we could not cross. The offer of $80 reimbursement was useless, because we couldn’t even physically get to any accommodations! We were stranded outside any cities, beyond most Uber’s reach/willingness to drive, and literally PHYSICALLY TRAPPED in a small gravel lot with no shade and no access to food, water, shelter. Locals that saw us literally had to throw us water bottles over the fence because we didn’t have any supplies or materials, or any way to get them ourselves. The only people that could leave the lot were people with relatives that would drive hours to pick them up. How could an $80 accommodation fee have helped with this I’ve used Flixbus for YEARS, both in Europe and the US, recommended it to all my friends, and I regret every single moment of it because this company left us to ROT. No one was sent to fix the bus, the bus that stopped for us could only take half of us, and no assistance was provided to the people or the driver. It was a dangerous situation, and the fact that Flixbus HQ thought $80 reimbursement would even REMOTELY help the situation was ridiculous. We didn’t need reimbursement for hotel accommodations. We needed a vehicle to literally move us from where we were trapped, because we could not go ANYWHERE from where we were. Corporate greed at its finest. Never again. I’m not paying for a 5 star bus, I’m perfectly aware of that and I’m fine with it—but to deliberately leave people stranded for hours and hours with no opportunities for support was an unreal level of inadequacy and downright evil. Use Peter Pan instead.

2022-07-01I wish the signaling would be clearer (no signs indicating which buses are where, almost missed mine). I like FlixBus, and I’m used to it in Europe, but in the US it’s just a random stop on a street. Overall, it’s a decent company in terms of price and trip length. Would recommend!
