I’m rating the station more so than the bus service. It’s easy to get there which is really great, and it’s right across from Madison Square Gardens which you’ve got to love! 😍 That said, it’s pretty dysfunctional depending on whether your bus is on time or not, and there’s no real line system. It doesn’t sound like a big deal until you’re sharing a parking lot with 5 Flixbuses and 50 people trying to figure out where they’re going.

The bus arrived 20 min late without any notice. When the bus finally arrived, this very rude driver was standing near the entrance and didnt help anybody. Why are you asking? You dont see the sign?...There were 4 buses around, and there were supposed to be 10am and 10:30am to go to Philly. Driver refused to answer to questions.Take the seat! Put your luggage down!...I felt as if I arrived to prison when he was speaking such a rude language. He did the exactly same things to other passengers. Thanks for making us very uncomfortable. Flexi bus never again.

I can only share my own experience, but I think its indicative of how FlixBus works and operates as a business. I hope that Im honest about the experience without deceiving anyone.Personally, I had a great time with my trip from New York to Boston. Hurricane Ida hit the city harder than eleven freight trains, and the driver still showed up relatively on time, got everyone on board efficiently and got where he needed to on time. The bus is fairly old and smudged with grime, but Flixbus doesnt provide their own buses. Thats when you realize why the company is littered with amazing and horrendous reviews.Flixbus is an app that pretends to be a bus company: it basically offers existing bus drivers, regardless of reputation or otherwise, a chance to drive people constantly with bottom barrel prices. All Flixbus does is give stickers denoting seat reservations and a green coat of paint to a drivers bus.And honestly, Flixbus is a great app. Its efficient, fast, and guarantees prices significantly cheaper than Amtrak and Greyhound. It even gives you practical full refunds, even at the very last second...In the form of a voucher for another Flixbus trip. Whether you like it or not, once you buy that ticket, youre stuck with Flixbus. And Flixbus is a gamble. You might get a ride on par, or even better than a standard Greyhound ride; you might get a ride straight out of a horror movie and have your belongings stolen. Depending on when you book a trip, you might be stuck with regular people, or some sketchy folks who cant get a credit card without getting arrested. You might even be stuck with a seat right next to a broken septic tank of a toilet, caked thick with excrement. Youre paying as little as possible to gamble your enjoyment of a bus trip. This isnt a denouncement of the company, or a condemnation of the angry reviewers who warn new customers to never book a trip with Flixbus. This is to say youll get what you pay for at worst, or be pleasantly surprised at best.Heres some helpful tips to maximize the chances youll be fine on any potentially sketchy bus ride:1. Reserve your seat. It might not be honored judging from the dozens of 1 star reviews, but having agency to sit as far away from the bus toilet is probably step 1 to a great bus ride.2. Book for early mornings and weekdays. Why try and risk booking at nights and weekends when its the busiest? Itll also help ensure your reservation stays valid even as you board.3. Carry light and dont leave your belongings while you leave the bus. Sometimes the bus driver can be thoughtless and unprofessional enough to leave 5 minutes early from the promised 30 for a rest stop. But dont act shocked when your unattended belongings get lost.Anyway, if you want consistency, take Amtrak. It might be potentially hundreds of dollars more expensive booked last minute, but youll never have a bad experience taking a train. Or stick to Greyhound, Peter Pan, Wanda Bus, or the many other established bus companies for the extra 20 dollars. But hey, 20 dollars is a lot of money you can save for something nice for yourself.

Its the only Bus company i use now, getting to and from my home in Philadelphia to my Moms home in NYC. Staff is friendly and helpful and respectful. Easy to get to & easy on my wallet which is the Best part for me. Tickets are reasonable & dirt cheap, You cant ask for anything more from a bus company. Its easy to book and cancel or reschedule your trips, no having to call or deal with rude company associates. Buses are fresh and clean. I booked my latest trip with them & now Im back home in Philly. Best prices anywhere, easy on your wallet and or purse.

Our bus was delayed 45 minutes to Boston without any notifications. We appreciated our bus driver’s effort to make up time, but it was quite a bumpy ride. Besides that, it was ridiculously inexpensive and got us to exactly where we wanted to be!

The way they pack these buses... Ill never eat sardines because I now know how they feel (or maybe I will out of mercy...). Otherwise, the driver this time around was actually friendly. Also, I typically use half a bottle of sanitizer on these trips. Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh, makes you miss when Amtrak wasnt worth the cost of a flight, but you truly get what you pay for, even if you think youre paying for a nearly-empty bus as advertised.

This is a review for the bus service. A bus traveling from DC to NYC broke down midway through the ride. Smoke filled the cabin, and we were evacuated to a small gravel lot on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike that was completely cut off from any opportunities to get food, water, shelter, or alternative rides. After HOURS of waiting in the hot sun, Flixbus told us we could rebook for a Flixbus the NEXT DAY for $80 reimbursements, or we could find our own place ways around, and that they canceled the trip, ie after hours of waiting for another bus, there wouldn’t be one. The messages sent to passengers of this ride made it very clear that headquarters had absolutely no idea about the reality of what was going on. This was not a situation where people had other transit options to rely on. People were LITERALLY TRAPPED on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. We could NOT leave to go to a gas station, to find a bus, to book a hotel: we were trapped by wild brush, a huge fence with barbed wire, and a highway that we could not cross. The offer of $80 reimbursement was useless, because we couldn’t even physically get to any accommodations! We were stranded outside any cities, beyond most Uber’s reach/willingness to drive, and literally PHYSICALLY TRAPPED in a small gravel lot with no shade and no access to food, water, shelter. Locals that saw us literally had to throw us water bottles over the fence because we didn’t have any supplies or materials, or any way to get them ourselves. The only people that could leave the lot were people with relatives that would drive hours to pick them up. How could an $80 accommodation fee have helped with this I’ve used Flixbus for YEARS, both in Europe and the US, recommended it to all my friends, and I regret every single moment of it because this company left us to ROT. No one was sent to fix the bus, the bus that stopped for us could only take half of us, and no assistance was provided to the people or the driver. It was a dangerous situation, and the fact that Flixbus HQ thought $80 reimbursement would even REMOTELY help the situation was ridiculous. We didn’t need reimbursement for hotel accommodations. We needed a vehicle to literally move us from where we were trapped, because we could not go ANYWHERE from where we were. Corporate greed at its finest. Never again. I’m not paying for a 5 star bus, I’m perfectly aware of that and I’m fine with it—but to deliberately leave people stranded for hours and hours with no opportunities for support was an unreal level of inadequacy and downright evil. Use Peter Pan instead.

I wish the signaling would be clearer (no signs indicating which buses are where, almost missed mine). I like FlixBus, and I’m used to it in Europe, but in the US it’s just a random stop on a street. Overall, it’s a decent company in terms of price and trip length. Would recommend!
