Incredible space. The design is superb and feels so serene and tranquil amidst the chaos of the city. Come here to relax, contemplate and get your Zen on. The tea is marvelous but caution, brewed traditional Chinese style which is quite strong. The Keemun black tea was out of this world good.
I had a lovely experience at Floating Mountain yesterday. It was my first time to a tea house and will definitely be returning. High quality tea, beautiful people, organic fibers, simple, clean, clear energy. Quiet time to think, write, and be. Elina is a wonderful hostess and so happy that we are now connected!
What an absolutely gorgeous place. The smell of tea and soft wood gently greets you as you walk into this unassuming space. Light streams in, bouncing off the cushions placed for you to sit, relax, and enjoy a respite from hectic city life.I am not sure of the owners name but she was very warm and inviting, and very knowledgeable about her selection of Chinese teas. Please do yourself an act of great kindness and drop by to enjoy some amazing tea in this awesome space.
Fantastic place. Absolutely serene place, gorgeous and peaceful decor. The teashop owner is wondering, she personally serves every table a wide selection of teas from China. You take off your shoes when you enter and immediately, you are transformed to another world entirely. Love all her little tea pots and cups as well, very quaint. Its just such a breath of fresh air and peace in a bustling city
A well designed, serene and cozy spot with an amazing selection of premium teas. The owners are super knowledgeable/informative and are really focused giving their customers the best experience. The whole vibe is just incredibly lovely and relaxing…a much needed place for a moment of zen and some delicious tea!
What a delight! This traditional tea House serves an incredible assortment of Asian teas in a tiny little second floor space on the UWS. The experience is simply extraordinary so be prepared to spend an hour (or more). Reservations for a flight can be made in advance, but otherwise I believe its walk-ins or first come first served. Pro-tip: be prepared to sit on the floor (mats provided) and barefoot.
Robust tea selection and unique atmosphere. The first thing you do when entering floating mountain is remove your shoes, then make your way to one of the low tables that require you to recline on the ground. We picked one overlooking the street outside, which gave us a nice view when drinking our tea. The staff are knowledgeable, and helped us pick both puer and green teas. The tea was served using a gaiwan tea set.
I absolutely loved everything about the Floating Mountain: the location -hidden on the 2nd floor so that only people in-the-know and adventurous-souls come in; amazing interior design; zen-like serene atmosphere - seems like for an hour or so you can leave all your worries outside the door; a wonderful hostess - so friendly and so knowledgeable and passionate about her teas; and of course - the TEA itself!!! We were told the teas are very exclusive and bought directly from tea-masters in China, which is pretty amazing! Will definitely try to come back whenever im in the neighborhood on UWS!
An unlikely sanctuary on the upper west side to longer for a long time over a hot kettle... The vibe is more downtown or Brooklyn. No food, just tea, of many varieties, brewed and poured with great ceremony at the table. Most of the seating is on the floor, with pillows, so if you need back support you may want to call ahead to check how crowded it is. The tea is expensive, so if you really just want Lipton, youre in the wrong place.

2021-12-27Upper west side oasis. Peaceful and calming tea house serving strictly Chinese teas with a wide selection. Prices are $30-60 per pot and seating is all on the floor. It is very quiet and calming and great opportunity to try a unique tea from china. Most teas will be able to be steeped many times allowing you to easily spend an hour relaxing.Definitely recommend for a unique tea experience in nyc. There is no food offered or allowed in.

2022-04-25Amazing tea house for high quality tea in the most peaceful and wonderfully zen environment. they have an overwhelming number of delicious teas to choose from, although price-y, is definitely worth it for the experience! i recommend coming here with out of town visitors— it’s a wonderful and different experience!

2022-07-07Extensive selection of teas from China brewed the right way, tastes as complex as a good book or cocktail. The environment was very clean, respectful, shoes off when you first come in. Hostess was really friendly and helpful explaining the terms. We shared a pot that lasted 5+ brews. Only thing is that time flies too fast in there with good company.

2021-12-05The ambiance is very comforting, quiet, service is attentive (I believe the owner served us), and the tea is exceptional! The menu is really long so I suggest taking your time to read it. Only reason Im not giving this place 5 stars is because of all the rules it has, and the hesitancy I would feel asking someone to come with me and abide by those rules. These include taking your coat off, shoes off, not bringing any food (the place doesnt sell food), and not using sugar in the tea. Its also not ideal that the bathroom is in the basement and that in order to go to it, you need to put your shoes back on, and when youre back, take them off again.

2021-08-31They have a great selection of chinese teas! the interior design and atmosphere are very nice as well. this is a nice place to chill, alone or with a friend. this is small, but it would have been nice if the music fit the vibe of the cafe a little better. However, the experience overall was very good and i would definitely recommend floating mountain to any tea lovers! ☁️🏔✨🤍

2022-05-20Absolutely wonderful tea house. The calm serene atmosphere and the extensive tea list are just a few of the nice elements about this place. The teas are all spectacularly described, with an accurate sense of how the tea tastes, and also how it makes the drinker feel throughout the process. If I lived nearby this place would easily bankrupt me! (Not that Id mind)Highly recommend visiting if you are interested in tea! The owner and staff are friendly and knowledgeable beyond description. You will not regret visiting at all!

2022-02-13I thought this would be a place to where Id get to have tea, but this was more of an experience! Calming yet exciting yet subtle. The owner explained the context behind the tea patiently. I really enjoyed one of the teas I had ordered. It was perhaps the most beautiful tea Ive ever had. (I wish it was a more accessible product that you could buy anywhere)Note however that these are just an outsiders personal views and Im not an expert on Chinese tea culture.Be ready to pay a bit more than you think you would :)

2022-03-16When you say this is my last cup... three cups ago.Enjoyed a gorgeous Xiao Chi Gan tea, prepared gongfu style. I lost count after the tenth brew, but each brew just developed the flavor on my tongue more and more to the point where I found it hard to leave. Spent 2 hours here- way longer than I meant to. Im by no means an expert, and I can only afford this as a luxurious treat once in a while, but I thoroughly loved my experience.Plus I got a complimentary cup of puerh which was such a great complement to my red tea. The juxtaposition was amazing, the notes hitting my mouth in different places. It continually blows my mind that all these teas come from the same Camellia sinensis plant...

2022-04-06Prices vary: a single traditional cup; a small pot for one; a large pot for 2 or more people.Prices range from $5-$55.More expensive teas have been fermented and steam pressed with earthy flavors and unique health benefits.
