The restaurant is medium size restaurant. The staff are very nice and friendly. They ready to cater to you. They are very attentive and make sure you good the whole time your there. I had a great time. The food was delicious and tasty. They serve perfect amount of food. This restaurant is family friendly or romantic restaurant, for date night, family night, or heritage food. I love this restaurant. the drinks are strong and amazing. If you love wine get the sangria very good. If you like to drink get the super nutcracker is amazing I love it very strong. Wheelchair accessible entrance and seating. Sometimes call in advance to know the waiting time it be packed. no reservations accepted.
Pre pandemic, the restaurant was always packed with really long waits and wed sit elbow to elbow like sardines (happily though because the food was delicious). Same delicious food, but now its not as packed which I have no complaints about. Service was great. The lomo saltado is always a hit. Havent been here since pre pandemic and it was really nice to return. Im glad theyre still around.
This was the second time I visited Flor de Mayo restaurant. I love a well done w/ all the ingredients that a good Chinese fried rice comes with well, this is not the case thier fried rice is plain No green onions, No eggs, No sprouts beans is just a plain yellowish and a few small shrimps and the Chinese guy that took my order asked me if I wanted veggies on it it was extra. Not going back there again.
Went here yesterday for an impromptu hang out with my best friend. We got seated fairly quickly ( 5:30 pm on a Sunday) however it took someone a really long time to even come to our table and initially a woman that works at the restaurant walked over to our table looks at us and looks at our bale says nothing to us and walks away! A waiter finally comes to our table and we order drinks( that taste like medicine for $14 and they have fine print on the menu that they don’t exchange alcoholic beverages! Go figure) and we got tostones( they were bland and the garlic sauce was terrible)The waiter was nice and exchanged one drink but I wasted money and wound t return here
They rush you from the minute you are seated! The place is small & they want a high turn around. Couldnt enjoy my food (besides it coming out cold) because I was constantly being asked am I done! Waiters dont interact with you, its what do you want so you can hurry up & leave.
They lost respect for their customers by cutting back on there portions and fudging by presentations not telling you and charging you the same price as if you were dining in. 21.50 dollars for a shrimp ceviche in a 6 inch container with only 6 shrimp with red onions. Boneless chicken 8 2inch pieces for 19.50 with a side or rice the size of 10oz. And a 10oz MiTi for 14 dollars. And the same for a margarita 14 dollars. Over all the bill came to 120.85 and I gave a 20 dollar tip with out even looking into the bag at the food trusting it was the same as sitting in dinning. Shame on me for not looking cause I would of refused the order. Save your money and go elsewhere for a proper portion.
The service was pretty good, just a misunderstanding with the first server and he second one, that didnt pass my friend order, so he was the last to be server and had to wait for a while. But the staff was fast and efficiently the owner was always walking around the place to make sure that the entire client was fine. They bus boy was always passing by in the table refill the water and bread, for appetizer we share a potato with a salsa that was very good spicy, we finish the salsa with the bread, For drinks we had a big sangria,I am not a fan of sangria but this one was worth it,One of my friend ordered aji de gallina i think is was best plate of us 3 it was so good and delicious, my other friend had a lomo saltado, that fine, I ordered camarones empanizado that was delicious. The portion was very bigThe coffee with milk was ok.I am looking forward to go again here.
Big selection of food. Wait staff was very good and friendly. We found that the Chinese meal that we ordered (sweet and sour chicken) was not that good but the other foods we ordered were solid. Not sure if sweet and sour chicken was just not their specialty or if it was just a bad night but it was not very good:(
Flor de Mayo is an awesome place that I have visited for years - celebrating major milestone events and just ordinary days. We ate outside in their little patio area, nice clear dividers between tables for safety. The structure mutes the traffic noise, you almost forget youre in the street! Had the vegetable fried rice, sautéed broccoli, platano maduro, and tostones, avocado salad - Huz ordered the black mushroom tofu dish over brown rice and LOVED it.
Actively participating in social distancing. Food was very yummy. You can choose to dine inside or outside and the outside has heating. The super nut cracker drink was delicious and worth every penny the frozen lemonade is also delicious. They also do a temperature check before you enter the establishment even if its just to use the bathroom.
Great food and cozy space w/ plastic dividers between tables (much appreciated during COVID times). Staff is attentive and refill waters whenever they see it low. They check your ID & COVID slips before letting you enter the restaurant.Lomo Saltado (sliced steak, fries, onions, tomato over rice) - with your choice of rice (got the house special rice) - dish is very tasty. Steak is tough and chewy but not that bad, fries are soggy but surprisingly good. Their house special rice is amazing 👌. ($23)Chicharrones de Pollo (fried crispy chicken chunks with choice of rice) - the fried crispy outside could be better/more crispy with a crunch to it but the inside chicken is amazing. Super tender and juicy. ($18.50)Maduros Plantain (side dish) - delicious. Would get it again. ($5.50)Mixed Ceviche (appetizer) - tasty but seafood was a little too chewy. Good but wouldnt get it again. ($19.50)
We had such a lovely dinner here the other night. I never review places but we loved our experience here! our server was so kind, attentive and really took the time to answer our questions. The food was phenomenal!! I had the pepper steak and my friend had the chicken lomo saltado. We got a side of yuca and plantains. Everything was delicious!!
This is literally one of my favorite restaurants. The service is amazing everyone is so welcoming and accommodating, the food is so awesome and fresh, they give huge portions so I advise you not to eat anything big before coming here. The drinks are good as well. It is worth the price.
My wife and I spent our annual month in the city (20+ years there in the70’s and 80’s) and arrived in our flat, tired, hungry and thirsty after a long flight. Collapsed into Flor de Mayo, downed a couple of rum-on-the-rocks and ordered some comfort food: roast chicken, picadillo, rice and tostones. Emerged resuscitated. After a month of hi-end French restaurants and a classic NY steakhouse, we chose to take our last dinner at Flor de Mayo before our morning flight back to St. Pete. Highly recommended.
Food was delicious and they serve a lot!! They have 2 locations, Broadway and Amsterdam (now Ive been to both) and I truly recommend it!! Drinks are also strong enough so you get what you paid for.. Try it! Promise you will not regret it! Great Asian Latin Fusion restaurant!!
Peruvian-Chinese. This place makes me want to go to Peru and explore some more. The Chinese items can be a little, well, Peruvian? A little odd, maybe? I don’t know. Don’t think too hard, just eat and enjoy what’s in front of you. It’s all tasty, large portions, well-priced for the neighborhood. Popular and for good reason.
Honestly the only complaint I have is the price but its a quality restaurant in Manhattan so what can you expect. I always get the lomo salteado when I come here. It hits the spot without being too oily or greasy. The portions are huge so you can take home after or share the plate with another person. The drinks are great too! The Nutty Colada is my favorite but it will catch you by surprise! The place in Amsterdam is small so if you plan to come with more than 5 people call ahead.
Great food. Hint: Youre there for the chicken and plantains. Not for anything green.Better for pickup/delivery than dine in.Last time I went they didnt have coffee. How is that possible? I thought part of their charter was that they had to sell cafe con leche.¡No me lo digas que no tengas café!
If you are around the area you guys definitely need to come and sit here at Flor de Mayo the food is amazing. Plus now the menu are now barcode due to COVID where you scan on your Android or iPhone device with your camera and you can see the menu which I find that pretty cool. But what I always get when I go is Boneless Chicharrones with shrimp yellow rice this is always my go to every time I come to Flor. But the cocktail drinks I always get the frozen nutcracker or watermelon martini out of the two the strongest to me is the watermelon martini. So what are you waiting for grab your friends and enjoy the outside sitting and food / drinks.
If you know you know !flor de mayo is just a gem, they have survived so much and now during covid19 they are doing all they can.please support local businesses as much as you can !everything on the menu is phenomenal. if you havent heard about flor de mayos drinks you must try the super nut cracker or the zombie !they are following all covid 19/ social distancing rules with the outdoor dinning. is a great option with heaters during these cold months. the food is brung to the table completely wrapped in foil to keep it warm so dont worry about cold food !
The food was so good l love this restaurant Ive been going here since I was 30 years old now Im 50 I love this place great memories with a lot of good friends and a lot of good women and I like the upgrade of the restaurant as well I just miss the fish tank lol 🙏❤🥰💔😂🍤🍗🍹💯

2021-12-11Delicious crackling chicken served with fried rice! Only downside is the wait but what can you expect from a place that is so popular. The drinks are okay. Just depends on who makes them. You can never go wrong with the food though. Simply delicious.

2022-02-08My partner and I really enjoyed the experience here. The service was very nice. I went straight for the pisco sour as its a peruvian drink. I was surprised at the size, it usually comes a lot smaller. I also enjoyed that there was a lot of different types of rice for sides. We had the cilantro and yellow rice which were both flavorful. I got the broiled fish and it was pretty average. It tasted like something I could make at home. My partner had the crispy ribs and it was a lot of food! They were more like fried pork chops which were good and different and it was paired with a really good sweet and sour sauce.

2022-06-24Ordered takeout from here. We got the Steak Lomo Saltado. It was okay. The salt on the fries overpowered everything else when eaten together. However, it would not deter me from trying other items on their menu. They gave a nice portion which I was able to split with my hubby and still be full. If I did not, I would definitely have had leftovers for the next day. The person who gave me my order was pleasant. Like I said, I would definitely eat here again but probably try other dishes.

2022-05-15Omg the food was so tasty that I haven’t left yet and already want to come back. Portions are big and can be shared (depends on how much you eat), beers are cheaper than usually and the food is GREAT! We had the Lomo saltado with yellow rice and definitely worth it. This is the type of restaurant you should look for when your tired of fried chicken and pancakes on weekends!
